I've seen so many people go "this wasn't a good end for c!wilbur" and "it wasn't true to his character" "there is no growth!"

It was true. C!Wilbur is a bit of a coward. I'm sorry, but he is. And here, here he grew a bit. He said his apologies. He said his goodbyes. And now he goes home. It takes strenght to realise that a place is not good for you, and by staying you are doing more harm than good. And you cannot tell me that there was anything else for Wilbur on that server other than Tommy. But here's the thing: Tommy doesn't need him. He wants him, sure, it's his brother, but Tommy has had a life without him. He has gone through stuff and he has fought and hurt and healed and fell and stood back up. And while I'm sure Wilbur loves Tommy, Wilbur doesn't need him either. What they both need is space to heal. So Wilbur goes home. Goes to the opposite of his limbo, to the warm vastness of the desert, and he'll figure out who he really is behind all the trauma and l'manburg and all that. Who he is when there is nothing more to fight for or about, when he can just be. I'm sad for Tommy, truly. But to pigeonhole Wilbur into a "Tommy's caretaker" role is to take stuff away from both of their characters.

That's really the thing that annoys me the most. This "But Tommy is alone again! Wilbur left him on a beach just like Dream" Yes he is alone. But here's the thing. You are not evil or abusive for removing yourself from a situation that harms you and where you are not comfortable or safe. You are not bad. Dream was a fucking psychopath who enjoyed the abuse he put Tommy through. Wilbur is a mentally ill dude who desperately needs peace and safety. If I'd change one thing, i wish the offer for Tommy to join him would have been on the table. I would have wanted Tommy to refuse, but i still wanted the offer. But overall? I think it was great.

And you know what? I'm glad it was silly. I'm glad it was fun. Because they ALL talked about how it felt like the smp lost some of its magic due to how big and serious it has gotten. I'm glad that it was a bit silly and fun. Fucking Utah. I liked it.

NO ONE CARES especially since i keep changing my mind, but i think there's two things that initially made me pissed about Wilbur's ending.

Don't get me wrong. ITS FUNNY. its so fucking funny that he is Just a Guy . but what was the point of anything? Was this c!Wilbur trying to pioneer a new life for himself, in a place he can declare himself a president and a ruler, and start his own civilization with a whopping five-six people?

He could've left at any time. There was no restriction keeping him away. At any point he could've walked on over, and hopped in a boat, and go to fucking Utah. It lowers all his stakes. Dream SMP is (we can assume) all Tommy, Niki, Fundy, all know. The others can't leave. and Wilbur came here, started all this, and left.

Wilbur didn't leave because he cared for Tommy, you could say that, sure. But what about at the peak of his mental spiral? What about when he decided everyone hated him, and everyone was out to get him? Why didn't he fuck off to Utah?

and then there's the other reason it makes me mad.

It was JARRING. to go from "I didn't use to be this violent..." and Tommy stabbing him and freaking out, and Tommy being the closest to tears I've ever heard him. and then its "i'm going to utah" and then Wilbur explains for, what, three minutes? and then gets on the water, as Tommy cries, and fucks off.

What would I have done?

It wouldn't have fixed all the issues, sure, but it would've made it feel a BIT more satisfying.

Tommy asks one more time if they can just. Do something, something that's okay. Wilbur says they can make a memorial for Ranboo at the hamburger van, or something. Make a memorial for Ranboo, and the hotdog van. and they go and they dick around and laugh, and make fun of Quackity and cook up a few more hamburgers.

Maybe Wilbur makes Tommy the manager of the hamburger van. He can't give him L'manburg, and the hotdog van, but he can give him that.

Wilbur sends Tommy out to get something. and Tommy complies, and he leaves laughing and jump-sprinting, and then after a minute or two, he sobers up. He's quiet, and hesitant to do what Wilbur asks. But he does. he goes back slowly, and grudgingly, and he keeps looking off to anywhere else. Thinking about leaving, before this nice memory is tainted, like all the others.

Tommy gets back to the van. and Wilbur's not there. and Tommy lets out a small breath, like he didn't know he was holding it. And he walks back to the shore, just in time to see Wilbur in the water on his boat. He spins around, towards Tommy. and then he disconnects.

it's still stupid and Wilbur still fucks off to Utah, but I think it would've made ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the world.

I want so badly to talk about Wilbur’s finale from a lore perspective. To dissect how heartbreaking c!Tommy’s reaction was, how bittersweet the goodbye was. I want to praise Tommy’s acting and Wilbur’s writing. I want to rant about narrative parallels.

I spent a good chunk of time on this. I genuinely shouldn't have done this.

They have actually just been avoiding Utah this entire time. Most character travel towards The Greater SMP and L'Manburg. In doing so you unintentionally circle around a void space (Utah) in order to get to your destination quicker. Most travelling is also done through the Nether.

When Wilbur left to go back to Utah they were facing East away from Las Nevadas. That wasnt a sea, it was the fucking Salt Lake, up north of Utah. Assuming south of Utah is where Wilbur found Sally and where the Gas Station is.

Wilbur also got to Las Nevadas Dorothy style and got swept up by a tornado since Utah does get strong winds but not any stronger to warrant a storm or a hurricane (they've gotten close though). Though it is funny to note that the strongest tornado that hit Utah was in 1999.
