9 people you'd like to get to know better
This is my second super-unexpected-tag-game this week, is that considered a good or bad omen on this site? Anyway, thanks @andromedaholic, I'm extremely bored today and this is fun!
3 ships: the main ones are Bucky Barnes/Helmut Zemo (MCU), Corvo Attano/The Outsider (Dishonored), and James "Biggles" Bigglesworth/Erich von Stalhein (Biggles Series). I like many others, but that would be too long a list.
First ship: I'm pretty sure it was, and I have no idea if anyone knows these people even exist, William Lubber/Arabella Drummond from the book Pirateology: A Pirate Hunter's Companion by Dugald Steer. Just two people hunting each other with murderous intent... My tastes haven't changed much, by the way.
Last song: My Church by Aviators. I'm very normal about Aviators.
Last film: Clive Gordon's Cargo (2006). Don't watch it. I only did it for Daniel Brühl and to make gifsets for my friends :3
Currently reading: nothing, but I'm thinking about reading The Terror. The last book I read was The Alienist by Caleb Carr.
Currently craving: more than four hours of restful sleep.
Fav color: black.
Relationship status: single.
Last thing googled: plexiglass. Saw the word in a post and wanted to know what it was. It's called differently in my native language.
Current obsessions: Daniel Brühl (especially his role in The Alienist) and Dishonored (this obsession started many years ago, and it has never gone away, in fact it may never leave me at all).

I know we just talked and we're going to talk again and you probably know what I'm going to say already but I need to say it anyhow. You know I love your writing. The depth, the intricacy with which you craft words into something so evocative and vivid but in a way that appears effortless to the reader, it's a gift you've always possessed and one you've honed to an art on Killian. But since creating this blog, you've proven that it's not just a fluke, that lightning really *can* strike twice, and it's been nothing short of amazing watching you develop Lucas into something that is both true to canon and also utterly *yours* in a way that no one else could ever duplicate no matter how hard they may try. You are a gift - to tumblr, to the world, but mostly to me. I love you more than even the most eloquent words can say, and I am perpetually awed by you and the talent that seems to simply flow from your fingertips. You are my love, my soul mate, and the greatest inspiration that I could dream of. Thank you for being in my life, for being the most incredible writing partner imaginable, and for being mine. I love you.

first of all, I want to post a disclaimer (since you said we just talked) saying that you are not the 17 minute phone conversation person that i said goodbye to 6 times before finally hanging up. anyways, now that that's out of the way ..
You told me not to uno reverse this and to just post it and let it be mine, but I don't know how to not take advantage of this opportunity to tell you just how much this means to me but also how every praise you have given me is something I've learned from you. From the day we met on Hook and Guy you've always been my biggest supporter and fan and also my greatest mentor and coach in the art of writing. God, I think about the hours we've spent writing both on here and off. The hours we've talked, discussed, combed through every second of a muse's canon and (I wish i was kidding) even in some instances had like 32 tabs of research open for something that should have been a stupidly simple crack verse. The times we've done kik or wire, the times we've scrapped blogs or abandoned them because they just weren't fitting ... I've grown so much as a writer over the last almost 9 years and I owe that to you. I am constantly stretched to match you, always inspired by you and I have learned so much about characterization and depth and world building from you. I always say that I know a muse is gonna stick when they exist for one of yours and that usually stands true .. but Lucas has truly done what a muse of mine hasn't done since i first made hook. I saw a gifset and I've been hemming and hawing for like two years and I'm so glad you were like please just do the thing.
You are my inspiration, the love of my life, the person who I trust to be devastatingly honest with me. Thank you for all of the times we've watched various hook things, the hours you've spent watching me annotate peter pan and listening to me compare it to other media. Thank you for listening to me now talk about william blake and kafka and milton's paradise lost and all of the ways I think they relate to lucas and how i plan on reflecting it in my writing. Thank you for being one of the best fucking writers I've ever come across in my life. You are my favorite author and you always will be. You've taught me how to take things off a simple document on tumblr, how to make the words paint a story and a picture that isnt just a retelling, to create something that's a glimpse of life. You've taught me to channel my hurts and my demons and my triumphs and bottle them up until i can release them across a page. I'm so blessed and grateful to have a partner who takes writing as seriously as I do, who knows that despite the fact that it's just roleplay, I use it to push myself to be better and to write further than I did the day before. We both do. Thank you for recently teaching me that its ok to just write about bread lmao.

Anyways this is super long now and I don't even know if I've said everything I wanted to say but .. thank you. For everything. Always. End of the year review

What fandoms did you create for?
These days almost exclusively Hetalia, although I was originally a One Piece writer and added one new work this year.
How many works did you make this year? Fics (posted on ao3 or tumblr or wherever), edits, gifsets, moodboards, playlists, fanart, vids, meta?
Jesus fucking Christ, I really don’t know what happened to me this year, but I somehow have written 23 stories. I have also written 25 separate headcanons and many snippets of WIPS that are still unpublished
What are you most proud of?
Like Cake, I’m going to do my top 5:
Reset: My giant murder mystery son that I finally finished this year. It’s been a 7 year battle but I’m so very proud that I finished it and is packed with everything I have ever thought about how nations work and especially focussing on England and France.
Earthbound: My Sci-fi dystopian daydream. The last time I was kept up in the middle of the night, scribbling onto paper because the words wouldn’t stop coming. It’s about the nations, now humans many years into the future, remembering who they had been in an older life.
Character Study: I wrote this for a friend with the intention of writing something really short and quick but ended up squashing all of my FrUK love and feelings into it and causing myself sappy emotional damage.
It’s All About the Delivery: My comfort exploration into my vast headcanons for Nationverse, how humans fit into it, and the adorable man known as Matthew Williams.
The Grace of Forgetting: The first fic that I wrote, sat back and thought, maybe I could become a writer some day. I’m not sure how to describe it exactly, but this was the first fic I wrote where I truly felt as though I’d written something with any sort of skill.
Any stats you wanna tell us about?
From 2010- 2020 I had written 6 stories for Hetalia, 4 of those being written in 2017. Somehow, I have managed to write 23 stories this year alone and I still have so many ideas left in me. I don’t know what happened but boy do I wish it had happened sooner haha
I’d love to give a full word count but so many fics are on Tumblr only and I can’t be arsed to add them all up. AO3 tells me that I have got 241864 there though so it’s many! ;u;
What inspired you this year? Any specific works or creators?
So many wonderful people. I’m not kidding, I said this in answer to an ask not long ago but BOY am I honoured and blessed to speak to so many wonderful artists and writers in this fandom. I’m so so lucky even more so to be able to call some of these my friends.
This fandom is so talented and filled with so much creativity that it’s a joy to be a part of. I’m having so much fun and am constantly inspired by too many people to list.
What’s a piece you didn’t expect to make? Why?
Honestly? Any of the things I have written this year. I truly never expected to write again when I stopped in 2018 and I am baffled by everything that’s happened. In particular though, I really didn’t expect to finish Reset. I always said that I would finish it and always believed that I would, but I certainly didn’t expect to finish it all in a year.
What are you excited to work on next year?

My aim is to finish all of my WIPs, which are many (a mostly list can be found here). I’d love to write more British Isles bros and, as always, more FrUK.
On a non-Hetalian note, I’d love to do a glow up rewrite of some old One Piece stuff.

rory is the master theory? :o
In regards to the tags on this post.
Oh man, okay this goes way back. In the s5 and s6 timeframe of Doctor Who, there was a fan theory floating around Tumblr and elsewhere that Rory Williams would eventually be revealed to secretly be the Master. Possibly the Master under the influence of the Chameleon Arch, like Professor Yana, or possibly just pretending to be human while knowing all along that he wasn’t, in an effort to get close to the Doctor.
Evidence in support of this theory include the first time Rory sees the inside of the TARDIS (in The Vampires of Venice, I think) and isn’t at all surprised, and immediately understands the transcendent dimensional engineering at work, which he excuses by saying he’s been “reading up” on scientific theories since the whole Prisoner Zero thing. Then there was the moment in the gifset I tagged and linked above, from Let’s Kill Hitler, where Rory sees River regenerate in front of him and suddenly hears a pounding in his head -- like, say, the drums the Master heard? Of course, the strongest bit of evidence is how often Rory just inexplicably died and came back to life, over and over again, to the point that even Rory joked about it repeatedly.
And then there’s the whole thing with River being “part Time Lord”. The official explanation is that she was conceived on the TARDIS while the TARDIS was in the Vortex, and then the Cult of the Silence did some genetic engineering on her to make her more like a Time Lord, but eh, her father being actually literally the Master would have been a lot cleaner. And made a lot of narrative sense with the Silence trying to turn River into a weapon against the Doctor, if she was the daughter of the Doctor’s oldest frenemy.
Of course, the theory never went anywhere on the show, but there was enough contextual support for it that the fandom had a lot of fun with it at the time. I would have loved to have seen it go somewhere, to the point that I’ve been working on a fanfic based on the idea off and on since early 2015 or so, called Second Chances (Of The Non-Time Travelling Variety). I posted a rough draft of the first part of the first scene here, but I have a lot more written for it than that.
The fic focuses on Amy and Rory in the post-Angels Take Manhattan part of their timeline, living in New York City in the mid-twentieth century, both of them in their 80s by that point. According to the tombstone we see in Angels, Rory dies at 82 and Amy some five years later. But, following through on the idea of Rory being the Master, if he died he would actually regenerate -- and for this fic, I played around with the idea that in his final years, Rory slowly starts to realize who he really is, and desperately doesn’t want to become him again. So naturally, when he dies and regenerates, he becomes Missy instead. :D
What follows after that is quite a lot of Rory-Missy and River bonding, and a completely serious (even angsty!) Missy/Amy ship. After Amy dies, the story shifts around to being about Missy and River, and filling in some of the holes in River’s timeline (who was her legal guardian when she was growing up in Leadworth alongside Amy and Rory? what if it was Missy?). The Doctor eventually becomes part of the narrative too, but the whole thing is rather long and complicated, and at this point I’m not sure that I’ll ever actually devote the time it would require to finish writing it.
Anyhow, I’m sure that was quite a lot more than you were counting on when you sent the ask, but I hope it gives you a little insight into what those tags were about. Thank you for sending the ask!

ironic how Ten, who is commonly seen as the most ‘human’ doctor, is the one who ends up fitting most into the “lonely god” role, and who gets all the christ figure symbolism, while Eleven, who is a much more ‘alien’ doctor, is the one who ends up part of a human family, and figures out how to settle down in a way Ten never could

just thinking about the baudelaire siblings & how in the first season they have the running thing between violet&klaus where she’s like ‘what’s that thing *famous person* said?’ and he responds with a quote applicable to their situation, and they have these other sayings that they picked up from the adults that cared for them. ‘better than nothing’ ‘do the scary thing first and get scared later’ ‘life is a conundrum of esoterica’ they repeat these to themselves, live by them to get through their harrowing situations and for a while it’s fine and it works. but as the story goes on this subsides, and it is replaced by quotes of their own and other unfortunate children of their age. ‘if we wait until we’re ready we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives’ ‘i’m sure you know. what friends are for’ ‘he or she who hesitates is lost’ these are the words on which the focus is placed as they grow more independent. because they’ve realized their parents are gone, there’s no adult going to rescue them, and so they’re going to have to rely on themselves to get through.

Who are your favorite top ten black clover characters and ships? Talk about them.
This is both easy and hard. Like I have so many faves and ships, can I really make a top ten? Let’s find out
Ten top faves in order they came to my brain:
Asta - It was favorite character at first bellow really. I like that he’s got his own political philosophy which is more than some other Jump heroes in similar positions have sometimes. He reads very nephew I never had to me. I just really love loud, kind characters really.
Noelle - I like that her powers improve and grow with her desire to protect others. She’s also set up for such a great character arc when all is said and done. It’ll be fun to see her continue to loosen up more and more as we go now that she’s with a family who loves her openly and unconditionally.
Yuno - He reminds me of my little brother so a lot of his interactions with Asta bring on a lot of nostalgia. I also like how there are layers to him even if they’re subtle. He’s clearly got some depression issues to work through. I’m looking forward to how he handles a manga spoiler as he deals with more and more with such things.
Charmy - I like that she can be both funny but also srsbsns when needed. She’s always entertaining and there’s so much more we can learn about her as we go along.
Mereoleona - She’s very loud and very interesting. Like does sense use her grimoire when she makes those fire paws? I think we’ve only seen evidence of her grimoire open once but maybe that was actually Fuego’s. I also like how she’s in a position in which she can reject the nonsense of nobility without us having to sit through some family estrangement drama.
Magna - I want to see more of him. He’s an interesting dad friend to Klaus’ mom friend and he’s also constantly struggling to make things work. He’s very, very relatable. Reminds me of my struggle with learning to spell and learning math post-pre-algebra.
Charlotte - I love her. A constant contradiction. Confined by the etiquette of nobility and her own nerves while deep down having her teen crush phase ten years later than most. Really hoping the filler arc allows her to sort some stuff out not only for shipping reasons but I think that she’s kind of not quite done with her identity crisis so if she could get more of a harness on some of her contradictions or find a way to blend them together more smoothly that would be good for her overall. Vangeance - Very relatable back story, and I am looking forward to seeing how he grows as a character now separated from Patri. Looking forward to what the filler arc is going to do with him.
Yami - He reminds me of my older sister in how he and Asta interact with each other, though my sister and I don’t you know how so much bathroom conversation >____>;;; (but that’s Jump for you). I’m hoping we get to learn more about him as we go along here. Also curious how many people in Clover Kingdom realize Yami is actually his surname considering Julius calls him Yami and calls Vangeance William.
Father Orsi - I’ve always rather liked him. In many ways he’s Asta and Yuno’s dad. I’m kind of hoping the current backstory subplot ends with that being acknowledged in some way kind of like how during the elf arc we had a lot of familial talk like Licht and Tetia getting married, Yuno being the reincarnation of their child, Tetia and Lumiere being siblings, etc...and had a plot point of Asta saving Orsi’s life while Yuno kept the threat at bay. Yuno especially is at a critical point that his part of the subplot could go in that kind of direction, which would be nice since Asta had the bigger father son moment with Orsi last time, but it won’t surprise me if by the time we get there it will be both Asta and Yuno who affirm that Hage is their home and the church and their squads are their families.
Ten ships I enjoy in no particular order:
Asta/Noelle - Asta’s still hopelessly devoted to Sister Lily and Noelle has only just discovered her heart can doki doki but I think they have the potential to grow and change together and become a really strong couple as that progresses.
Yami/Charlotte - These two are very relatable. Does Yami know? I think he does, but I also think he can’t be 100% certain, which is very relatable especially since I too grow up as an “other” around my peers. Charlotte is also relatable because a lot of what she says out loud is some of my own internal monologue from back when I used to get crushes on people. It’s such a stupid mutual crush that could really become something fun if they would both just communicate and be themselves.
Luck/Magna - They have a deep friendship and understanding of each other which could totally translate into something more if they wanted, which is always my jam. They also seem to know how far is too far when you factor out that they’re a hyper violent comedy routine at times, and that’s also nice.
Yami/Vangeance - Makes me sad how little content there is for this ship especially after I filter out what I don’t want to see on AO3. Again you’ve got that friendship that could evolve aspect and they’re also two people Clover Kingdom sees as an “other” and had to prove themselves to get where they are. They both seem to have a love style that isn’t controlling given the love they show for their squads, which I think is what both of them need.
Finral/Klaus - I know. I know. Everyone’s going “Where did that even come from?” and the answer is there is so little Black Clover fic when I saw a fic for this ship a while back I was like “Okay. Tell me more,” and it sold me on the ship. Both of them are kind of in a support position for their squads, they were both raised as nobles, and they both are kind of learning to let go of that nobility, though Finral has already let go of a lot of it now and Klaus is only starting to loosen up. It’s an interesting dynamic I’d like to see more of.
Noelle/Kahono - Might have been me projecting a bit but when Kahono set up a double date designed to get Noelle and Asta together it reminded me of when I was in the closet back in middle and high school and fixed this girl I had a crush on up with the boys she liked alsfjldskfjaldkj. Also Kahono seems to have a lot of warmth and affinity for Noelle, and I think if they were able to interact more something could develop. They’d be very cute together, though I think Noelle likes her crushes weirder than Kahono but maybe Kahono has a secret weirdo side we just haven’t seen yet.
Grey/Gauche - Do you ever like look at Gauche and feel that one gifset of Nick Furry burst forth? Yeah, so in a world in which he finally calms down a bit about Marie, he can be part of a ship as a treat. I like that they both can bring out sides of each other others can’t and I think they both have a lot of room to grow together as people. It would also be nice to see Gauche unwind a bit (though I think he’ll always be stuffy) and Grey open up more (though she’ll always be shy). They also seem like characters that wouldn’t overwhelm each other either, which is good because I think both of them wouldn’t respond well to more aggressive personality types.
Charmy/Rill - We need to talk about how everyone Rill loves has handed him his ass. We really do. His butler did, Asta did, and now wolf!Charmy has. Just wait until sheep!Charmy hands him his ass, he’ll never look back. That said, that’s not why I like them. I like them because I think Charmy needs someone who will appreciate her and I think Rill definitely will as he gets used to her. I also think Rill needs someone who won’t put up with nonsense unless it’s the fun kind of nonsense and Charmy definitely would fit the right kind of chaotic energy. I also like ships in which the girl is just as capable of saving the boy (a la Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask) so again, like Asta/Noelle and Yami/Charlotte, I’m here for this ship.
Leopold/Yuno - This stemmed from me thinking about how they would interact since strangely enough we’ve not seen them in the same place as the same time yet since Leopold didn’t participate in the Royal Knight Selection Exam. I would love to read some fics with this pairing but there aren’t a lot out there. In some ways it’s that anxiety/depression ship dynamic that I gravitate towards so it’s no surprise I’m curious how it would go. Maybe they’ll get to work together in the next major battle arc.
Noelle/Nero - But like when Nero is in human form, you know? Again, it’s that anxiety/depression dynamic. I also think that while Noelle can draw on strength from Nero in battle, Nero can draw on strength from Noelle outside of battle because Noelle has that side of her that likes to care for people and has a lot of compassion for others even though she tries to cover it up by being tsundere. It’ll be fun to watch them fight alongside each other since they’re both going to be training in Heart Kingdom during the filler arc at some point.
