Talk shop Tuesday: what's your writing process like? Do you write in order? Hop around? Edit after everything is done, or as you go? I'm always curious how different people tackle it!

i think one word for my writing process is that it's chaos; i definitely write out of order, and sometimes i'm not really sure how i end up stringing it together. sheer luck, maybe... at least i hope i manage to pull things together to make them make sense 😂

i'm also definitely an edit-as-i-go kind of writer, for the most part. generally i don't write in drafts; because i've done so much editing as i've written, my first "draft" is generally what i would consider to be the final one, at least for the purposes of posting fan fiction online. i would take at least another pass, of course, if i was trying to get professionally published, but since this is all for fun, i try not to overthink it; overthinking it has really stymied me creatively for many years of my life, so i am in the process now of letting loose and not giving into the mindkiller.

this would be aramil's kid with wren who is 3/4 elf and ages really slowly and his (adopted) dragonborn kid with heskan who ages super fast

anyways had to get these babies out of my head and they are here now and i love them

Hm I would love to continue Dee's dol journey and play it more but I feel like I’m starting to run out of stuff

#atm I’m mostly thinking about it and not really playing it much anymore #i know there’s still a lot I haven’t done but I hadn’t expected that the content for the LIs would run out so quickly #now tbf I still have Kylar to explore but I’m just not that I to them so their whole.. thing (gestures vaguely) will happen when it happens #actually I’m being unfair I only mean Sydney when I say that #..and Avery #cause I know you can basically romance everyone without consequences but: #i ​wont ever romance Robin bc I’d like to uphold that personal moral for Dee #Kylar will happen when it happens but I unfortunately didn’t click with them as much as I had hoped #Eden didn’t do much for me < also unfortunately and unexpectedly #im kinda working on Alex but imma be honest the whole farm/wren thing is really tedious #although I’m slowly working on it #and then Whitney…. I’m tempted but also my petty ass doesn’t want to let them win #plus i feel like it would be somewhat ooc for Dee #yeh she doesn’t hate him as much anymore bc there’s bigger fish to deal with now but he hasn’t really changed his behavior at all #again I would be on Whitney if I could retaliate and not let myself be dragged around like a chew toy #dol rambles #ah i forgor the woods and the hawk. so I’ve tried the wolves in one run it was okay but the ongoing 10+ wolf sex encounters tire me out #<not like that

It’s a holiday here, so I had the day off!  Time to go birding again!

Not a bird, but a turt basking in the sun:

Some cedar waxwings!  This is the second time I’ve seen them.  I was able to get a picture of two sitting on a wire:

I saw the cool bug again!  I know what it’s called!  It’s a snowberry clearwing:

Look at this cardinal!  He’s posing for me!

A red-shouldered hawk!  The first picture I’ve been able to get of one:

A tree swallow!  A few of these guys were harassing the hawk, lol:

I gasped when I saw some of these pictures!  I found a group of juvenile blue birds, and they were nice enough to pose for me:

Another neat bug!  Some kind of butterfly, I think:

I think this guy is a wood peewee.  Such a cute name:

There’s been some chipmunks coming to the bird feeders at the arboretum and I finally got some good pictures of them:

An indigo bunting!  There were a few of these guys around the feeders:

5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

Ilimbë my beloved! I adored it as soon as the idea popped into my head and put SO much work and thought into it. An opportunity to be nerdy about Greek mythology will always have my heart! But also I never really understood Fëanor before I wrote this fic, and getting inside his head was such a treat. I’m very proud of his characterisation in it – he’s such a complicated fascinating mess.

Jaskier settled himself on the floor and gazed up at the sliver of moonlight that came into the room from the small window. He looked peaceful. Radovid couldn't believe that the being in front of him was capable of such destruction, such violence. It was said that a cursed man lost his mind when the wolf took over. Perhaps that wasn't entirely true. Jaskier was still in there somewhere. He had to be. “What was it like?” Radovid asked quietly, not wanting to disturb the wolf's peace, “the first time?” He looked over to the witcher, who was also watching Jaskier with an expression he might even describe as soft. “It was...hard,” Geralt replied without a glance towards him, “he was afraid. In pain. The first time is always the worst.”

14/10/23-Lakeside Country Park

Photos taken in this set: 1. A lovely Woodpigeon. 2. A Speckled Wood on bright red hawthorn berries, this delicate butterfly which I saw a bit of on the walk looked woven in fine silk as it basked in the autumn sunlight. A powerful moment. 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10. Beautiful views of bright green trees and the lakes. 4. A Coot I enjoyed seeing. 6. Beautiful water mint. 7. Black-headed Gull on a buoy.

As I loved putting together a list of species seen and heard for the Global Big Day as part of Global Bird Weekend this weekend and World Migratory bird day today on the walk it was also great to see outgoing Swallow over a lake, smashing views of Long-tailed Tits including intimately, Mallard, amazing views of Great Spotted Woodpecker including seeing this cracking bird I love right at the start of the walk, a rousting Buzzard soaring view, an exciting Sparrowhawk view, Great Crested Grebes, Moorhen, House Sparrow, Robins seen and heard, cherry Chiffchaffs a star of the walk, a lovely Dunnock view, Chaffinches another star and Blue Tit. It was also powerful to enjoy bird song and sounds today at Lakeside hearing Wren, Goldcrest, Jay and Ring-necked Parakeet well. Brown Rat and Grey Squirrel were interesting mammals to see, with Red Admiral enjoyed a lot for butterflies too. Migrant Hawker and Southern Hawker seen were great dragonfly moments and wild carrot, yarrow pineappleweed, daisy, dock, rowan berries, wild service tree berries, rose hips, apples and conkers were other key plants/fruit seen. It was nice to get Lakeside into my Saturday for a third week running.

So this took me a bit but honestly I think for your trademark for me it would be an amazing devil lyric. I tried to find one because I thought it would be fun to send one specific one for your trademark but I couldn't settle on just one 😅 if I had to choose a song it would either be secret worlds or the old Witch sleep and the good man grace. Those have the most forest vibes you give off and they have the vibes of the struggles I'm sure you go through but you're still strong and still friendly 😊
