It doesn't take long after repairing the miraculous to find out what happened to the butterfly.
Marinette doesn’t take the bracelet to Luka right away after she fixes it.
Maybe she should have—maybe Luka would have been a better candidate to tell Adrien. He’s good with words, after all, and at staying calm in the face of other's despair.
Marinette is neither of those things.
She's especially not those things with Adrien.
But she can't bear to tell Luka first—she hasn't even told Chat Noir yet.
At first, she'd planned to keep Gabriel's secret. He'd asked her to, his dying wish, and she'd still been haunted by the nightmare of Adrien sobbing over his father's ashes. She'd wanted to protect him.
But over time, she'd started to have doubts.
Gabriel hadn't been a good father.
She'd see the statue in the park and think, doesn't Adrien deserve to know the truth?
But then she'd see Adrien laughing in the sunshine, and think, doesn't he deserve to be happy?
So here she is, standing in his room, wielding the snake miraculous alongside her own.
His gaze rakes over her costume, taking it in, before landing on her wrist. She could pinpoint the exact moment of realization by the fear that flashes in his eyes.
"That's not for me, is it?" He doesn't ask this every time—only the times when she doesn't speak first.
"No," she reassures him, and winces at the way his shoulders relax, knowing that what she'd come for was far worse than asking him to wield the snake again.
"Then why…?"
"I have to tell you something," Cobrabug explains. "And I'm not sure how to do it right. So I thought I could… practice?"
Adrien looks thoughtful. "Is this the first time?"
She shakes her head. "The 27th."
His thoughtful expression grows pained. "27 times, while you're wielding two miraculous?"
She waves him off. "I'm sure I'll get it right soon."
He nods.
And—miraculously—she does get it right, this time. All the words come out in the right order and they all make sense and she doesn't start crying.
His face is pale with shock, and Cobrabug is waiting with baited breath for his response, her hand poised to reset the clock.
Adrien opens his mouth to say something, but only a choked, strangled sound comes out.
That's when she notices the butterfly.
Dark, and glowing, and heading straight for Adrien.
Her heart plummets into her stomach.
The missing miraculous.
He notices it a second after she does, eyes flicking back to her in terror.
She reaches for her yo-yo, intent on purifying the akuma, but Adrien is faster.
“Don’t tell me again,” he says, and turns the bracelet on her wrist.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
Cobrabug stands in Adrien's room, wielding the snake miraculous alongside her own.
His gaze rakes over her costume, taking it in, before landing on her wrist. She could pinpoint the exact moment of realization by the fear that flashes in his eyes.
"That's not for me, is it?"
"No," she reassures him. "Sorry to bother you. Just checking in."

Thoughts and Reaction to Gang of Secrets!
I'm very late today at writing this because life ;-; You know it's a bigger episode when they start off with a problem. Ladybug doesn't want to detransform so she's desperate to find reasons to remain Ladybug. I love how the entire time, Chat Noir knows something's wrong and wants to get her to talk about what it is, but she just tries to pretend she's fine. If anything, Chat Noir would probably be the best person to talk to considering everything he's dealt with too both with Kagami and his responsibility as Chat! She could mention that she was seeing someone but they broke up because of her secret, and she could tell him how much being the Guardian's having an affect on her. All perfectly well and good without exposing any identities or things like that with questions for details asked. Instead she puts up a front with him and pretends she's okay in front of him and it's just so sad. :/ I understand why she doesn't, probably because she doesn't want him to know how much she's struggling. But ugh my heart hurts for her. Chat: I know where we can go where we won't have to talk! Ladybug: Yes, take me there Chat! *in the theater* Ladybug: You lead me into a trap. I MEAN HE'S NOT WRONG THOUGH! Not many places you can go where it's okay or encouraged to not talk without there being an awkward silence. But that cracked me UP. Also that casual attempt to wrap his arm around her lolol still hasn't give up, I see. I also find it simultaneously hilarious and extremely depressing that Ladybug's ranting like that in the theater because of a romance movie. When your heart is broken, that's probably the last thing you want to be doing. And Chat Noir yanking her down asking that she be quiet 😂 Literally just rants her entire love life out for everyone including Chat to hear in that theater. CHAT NOIR, YOU BETTER BE LISTENING BECAUSE SHE'S TALKING ABOUT ADRIEN HERE "She takes a long time to tell him and stutters and blah blah blah" lol sound familiar, sunshine? If anything please have him recall this later and be like, wait, didn't Ladybug say girls stutter around a guy when she likes him? BAM. Then he's off on his path towards Marinette. I can dream. Ladybug: And how do you know if he loves her? IMPOSSIBLE. Adrien: No, Marinette couldn't possibly be in love with me. *eyetwitch* But at the end of the day. This is Marinette ranting to Adrien about how she had to give up on Adrien and then couldn't make things work with Luka because of her secret. Ooof. And poor Chat having to apologize for everyone because Ladybug's disturbing them XDD THE GIRL SAVES EVERYBODY'S LIVES PRACTICALLY EVERY DAY AND THEY'RE PISSED SHE'S RUINING A MOVIE THEY CAN JUST REWATCH? 😂 She's clearly having a hard time right now, c'mon people! Chat can tell she has a broken heart. This boy is so sweet. He wants her to at least admit that and talk about it so she can feel better but you know, Ladybug's stubborn. I WANT TO GO SWIMMING LET'S GO SWIMMING CHAT, WOO HOOOOOO! Ladybug acting like Chat to hide her pain just like how Chat acts like Chat to hide his pain. YOU KNOW WHAT, IT'S FINE. :') It doesn't matter how much pain she's dealing with, those pictures mean too much to her to remove them. x3 Thanks Juleka for showing us how sad Luka is now, that's very helpful. Marinette's been going into the bathroom at school to cry, and then had planned stupid looking glasses to hide her tears so people wouldn't have to know she's cried because wearing a ridiculous pair of glasses that's embarrassing is better than being asked what's wrong. Because the pain I feel for her wasn't already enough. Ugh I adore Trixx. Trixx being the voice of reason when Tikki's not there, trying to help and letting her know that Tikki may need to rest too when she's so upset it doesn't cross her mind. And the tears in her eyes when she apologizes to Tikki for not thinking of her like she should. ;-; SO MUCH PAIN. OH DANG Alya was literally a second away from seeing a detransforming Marinette lol But she did say DETRANSFORMATION or well in the English dub it'll be "Spots
off" I love Rose, she's really sweet. and considerate But she also shouldn't be touching things in others rooms like that. I never liked it when my friends went around my room touching stuff. Also didn't help that a couple of them stole from me... but it's just not a cool thing to do. Would've probably ended up much better had she not had to desperately hide an exposed Miracle Box. But then we wouldn't have had what happens so it's all good c: Marinette saying she doesn't want to be friends with the girls anymore
Tumblr media
It hit Alya deep. Everyone else is like *le gasp* but her eyes all shrunken like that, you can tell it really got to her hard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This entire exchange right here. Alya's glance at her in the first picture is piercing, like I can feel that OOF feeling in my chest when I see it. The new music dramatizes it so well that a lot of people probably didn't pay attention to it the first time around. Can we just appreciate how these animators got all these emotions so right and did such a good job animating everything for us? And those that work on the music too? Everything's so spot on. Marinette's red-rimmed eyes is so well done. "No, it can't end like this!" Awww Alix getting super upset too x3 I honestly think Alix could be the next one.... you know what I mean BUT I'll wait until the end to talk about it. Trixx pulling a Plagg and rescuing Marinette! x3 I seriously love Trixx, I really do. I know the other Kwami's got mad, but if he hadn't done that it would've been disaster, probably. And the episode wouldn't have ended how it did! And Plagg knowing it was Trixx who caused the Eiffel Tower to be all weird xD Why do I get the feeling the relationship between Trixx and Plagg would be like that of Chat Noir and Rena Rouge? And I want to point out, we got 7 whole seconds of Adrien again! Aren't we lucky? The last time we got so little of Adrien in an episode was when we had his parallel episode Lies. I don't think that'll happen this time but I do hope it means more Adrien later on. Ladybug: They're after Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Chat Noir: Okay but remember everybody likes her (so don't go thinking she's a bad person for causing their akumatizations) Yes, I read between the lines. Ladybug being able to get through to Lady Wifi and have her deakumatize herself was absolutely amazing! I know Chloe was the first to fight off being akumatized but once you're akumatized it's obviously extremely hard to break. That says a lot about Alya. "Because you're an incredible friend, Ladybug." One, AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Two, did you notice the little jerk of her head, gesturing to Ladybug like that when she said it?? It's the little details guys that make this so good. 😍 "Chat Noir, nooooo!" Guys, we got our tiny little Marichat scene! It's not actually real, but still! (okay but why do I also get this really weird feeling like something like this may end up being real later?) Alya giving Ladybug that hug 😭 Marinette has such good, supportive friends. I love them all. x.x YES THANK YOU. Alya's finally realizing there are more things going on with her than just boys. One of the things that's always irked me since Chameleon is that any issue Marinette has, be it with Lila or otherwise, she always assumes it has to do with Adrien. Of course, at the time she didn't know she was Ladybug but she should've still listened and realized there's something else up. But now she finally is noticing and I love how she was going to respect her regardless and not push. Pushing has always been one of Alya's characteristics, but she knew whatever it was was something too big and serious to push her on. "Marinette, I'm your best friend, and I always will be." 😭😭😭 This episode brought me so close to tears so many times. Marinette admitting she's keeping secrets, lying to everyone. Admitting that that's why she draws a line between her and Adrien, and why her and Luka didn't work out. Alya saying however heavy it is, they'll carry it together (MY HEART) And then Marinette saying "If I tell you, things between us will never be the same. It's going to destroy everything, change it all." It sounds like this girl is thinking about Chat Blanc and oop there's the sound of my heart breaking again. So much paaaain. "Je suis Ladybug." YESSSSSSS Why they had to leave it off on a cliffhanger But YESSSSSSS First, the expressions she had flash on her face, the gasp 😮, then the expression like she's trying to get her mind to process. Then if you notice, Marinette gives a little nod, as if letting her know that it's true. Then the way her eyebrows furrow and pulls her into the hug as she understands all that she has on her shoulders as that music plays. I'm getting
emotional just writing this. 😭 This episode is just so amazingly good in so many ways, I don't think I can actually cover it all. I'm very impressed. I've loved nearly every episode this show has put out, even those that a lot of people seem to hate. But this one, I don't see how this could actually be hated if you're trying to think of everything that happened from Marinette's point of view, her thoughts, feelings, struggles, depression. I will say, personally I hoped Chat Noir would learn who Ladybug is first. He's been such a good partner, very thoughtful, always putting his life on the line. He's also been dealing with a lot of the same struggles. I felt like he deserved to know first. However, this isn't about who deserves what, it's about what Marinette needs. It's not that she doesn't want to tell him who she is! Don't misunderstand. There are many times throughout the past 3 seasons where she wants to or regrets not being able to. But now, Chat Blanc's in her mind. She knows what could happen if she tells him with Hawk Moth still there, so she can't do it. So instead, she tries to pretend in front of him that she's fine even though talking to him about everything would help and fix so much. In her mind, that's not an option. I just hope that when he finds out she told someone else first, he doesn't think that she doesn't trust him enough to tell him. Next I thought maybe Alix. That way it'd be more understandable to Chat that she'd know, after all future Bunnyx clearly knows and said to Ladybug that she chose her because she's capable of keeping secrets (notice how Alya said that to Ladybug in the alley? I bet Alix will find out in the near future. Maybe not this season, but she'll find out.) But that's for another time. But now Alya knows! Her best friend, the one to have her back and will no doubt have it even more so now! Watch out, Lila. Alya doesn't hold back so I can imagine how vicious she could be to her (and I can't wait). And that brings up a very interesting thought. Alya will realize Adrien has been the only one to have her back in Lila situations. Why would he do that, hmm? When everyone else was so sure Lila's an angel and Marinette must be bad for saying anything negative about her. Journalist Alya, incoming! There's also the matters of Alya bringing up Marinette's feelings for Chat Noir because duh, everybody can see how much she loves him! There are even photos of them kissing, one of which happened in front of Alya's own eyes! Though affected by an akuma, they all know that kiss didn't happen because of it. And of course, Alya has brought up twice in the show so far that Adrien and Chat Noir could be the same person. And last time Alya said that neither of them could be Ladybug and Chat Noir. Except, she's now found out that Marinette is Ladybug. So maybe Adrien could after all be Chat Noir. I look forward to seeing how their new dynamic is. I wonder how this affects their relationship with the other girls. And I'm most curious about how Nino and Adrien may react to this change. I thought during Truth and Lies both that their best friends were going to find out about their breakups. Gang of Secrets was Alya finding out. Even though I feel like another parallel episode is just wishful thinking, I can't help but think it may be a possibility. Nino and the boys are going to wonder what's up with Adrien too. They're going to wonder why he's not with Kagami anymore so suddenly. So what if i the end, Chat Noir ends up telling Nino? I could see it, if this takes place shortly after Gang of Secrets, where she tells Chat that she's confided her identity in a very close friend and somehow they agree that he can tell someone too that he trusts to make it fair. It'd be an amazing way to exercise Ladybug's trust in Chat Noir too. Then we'd have both Alya and Nino in on it, keeping their best friend's secrets for them without knowing about the other one. Oh that'd be so beautiful! And also let them keep their Miraculouses too after the charms are given to them and Alya has the ability to break
free after being akumatized. I adore Rena and Carapace so much I'd be ecstatic if they kept them. 😭 Anyway, so much potential can come out of this episode and I honestly cannot wait until episode 4!!

The way all that just make me start disliking Adrien so hard wow I have enough of him so hard can they get ride of him for one damn episode?
Anonymous said:
Wow! Writers got on completely new level. They somehow made people to be annoyed with Adrien, even without putting him in episode.
My meme image of “I’ve had enough of this dude,” about sums it up.
It’s almost impressive???

I have the impression that you should slowly gather materials for "Treatment of Marinette S4"
You know, when you’re right, you’re right.

Hey there... Got a lil rant, I hope you don't mind in sea of anons you're probably getting. I guess if show didn't treat Marinette as their favorite punching bag and lukanette as a thing to get over with to be back on love square bullshit I wouldn't be this salty. We all knew lukanette isn't a endgame, but we actually care about Luka ans Marinette as characters and as a couple, and we knew there was a break up brewing.
But I mlb writers for setting things up, canonizing them over provocative tweet and leave them to dust right at the beginning of s4. And, oh sweet irony as they kinda accidentally made Lukanette totally better than love square (let's be honest if they knew what they were doing we wouldn't get any breakup from narrative and character development standpoint),,, because their heroine for once is loved and appreciated but that's another discussion and they hate that for her. Also, thomas arstruck can suck my toe.
I don't know what's your opinion on soulmate and destiny thing, but I'm totally in opposite. I remember The Good Place (love the series btw!) quote about how soulmates are made with love and nurture of people and not some cosmic forces. And to see how show is pushing for Destiny ™️ I'm kinda disheartened. But I guess I never really liked love square execution in the first place when it turned out that Marinette is butt of the crush joke for 3 seasons and there's 0 development from that. Like Thomas, that's not funny running gag. Thanks for reading! Hope you're doing well!
Thank you for the rant, and I agree!
It’s so strange how all their attempts to push for the love square just push me more towards Lukanette. How do the writers do that???
Anonymous said:
Yeah that point where she exclaims Luka in shock just angered and confused me. She LITERALLY transformed because Luka was akumatized. And her being shocked is only there to get her under the truth spell.
This episode is held together by knots and strings at this point.
Anonymous said:
Wow, "Ladybug likes Chat Noir humor." Then why every time Chat Noir makes puns, Ladybug looks like she wanted to strangle him on spot.
Ladybug = us
At that point, they should’ve just said, “[The writers] like Chat Noir’s humor.” Like--writers, please don’t use Ladybug as a tool to simp for your sunshine boy, it looks really pathetic.

Based on the ellipses you used I'm guessing you're not a fan of Jagged talking about the "Guitar is my only family" song.
Oh, no actually... I mean, I do because it’s there to torment Luka, but the ellipses was because of the intentional pause in the episode. Jagged was looking sympathetic
Anonymous said:
Truth was awful, the only good thing we got out of it was a Lukanette date (yay :'D) and we got to know Luka's father (although we all been knew).
Honestly if we could find a way to edit it so Luka and Marinette properly kissed then we’d just chop it out of the episode and call it the only canon thing.
asexual-individual said:
So, given that "Truth" didn't introduce the protection charms, I'm going to take a wild guess that they're not introduced until after "Gang of Secrets", meaning that Marinette won't get any close friends that it's safe to tell her secret to.
I was legit so sure that it was a guardian benefit and now I’m just left confused/curious about what causes CharmBug. Like, what, do you get CharmBug by purifying your one thousandth akuma???
Anonymous said:
I am absolutely positive no one quality checks these episodes before they’re sent out. Ladybug getting caught off guard on Luka being Truth even though she knows he was akumatised, and the horribly upbeat music playing as Marinette lies in bed absolutely defeated is so bad there’s no way this was double checked before it was sent out to TV stations
At this point, I’m convinced that they don’t care and are jamming through episodes as fast as they possible can.
cobraonthecob said:
I'm willing to bet that the writers go through critical and salt blogs just to see what the fandom's thinking, and then they think we're serious and they sprint with whatever we say.

It was awful in general, but why add the paternity thing in the break-up ep? It detracts from, well, everything else and makes obvious they are copypasting fan theories instead of thinking of plot points.
I really do think they knew that Luka being upset over Marinette’s secret wasn’t enough to akumatize him so he needed something else.
Anonymous said:
Let me get something straight: The episode was explicitly about Marinette going on dates with Luka and that they were together. Yet Juleka is once again part of the shipping squad with obligatory "Marinette is only weird because she's with Adrien"-theories, and she's totally cool with that?
Yup! :3
guys I just adore mob mentality, did you know.
guys--
Anonymous said:
Ok, but the fact that everyone considers Marinette’s crush on Adrien to be her big secret is stupidly unrealistic. They KNOW they’re all aware of it - the girl squad even figured it out by themselves before they were told and think it’s totally obvious (as long as you’re a girl cause guys are clueless about feelings right). As far as they’re concerned it’s not actually a secret so they SHOULD be spilling the things they think only they and Marinette know. I mean, I can think of dozens of possibilities for Tom and the rest of the girls already, but Alya?
We had a front row seat to the damning secret Alya knows from back in season 1, but I guess asking this show to acknowledge continuity is too much. Still, the episode could have been so much more interesting if Alya had said, “Marinette’s the one who really gave Adrien the scarf for his birthday, but he looked so happy thinking it was from his father that she couldn’t bear to tell him that Gabriel hadn’t actually gotten him anything.” (I suppose reminding people of that wouldn’t fit into the writers’ poor attempts to make Gabriel sympathetic though 🙄).
Lol, just imagine the entire battle being sidetracked by Luka being brought to tears by how selfless and sweet his girlfriend is while Shadow Moth is too distracted by how this will ruin his reputation to get him back on track.

Marinette deserves to tell Luka she's Ladybug and have some support on her side tbh, it's disgusting to see the writers breaking up clearly the only thing that brings her joy and peace currently
HONESTLY.
And judging from that one trailer, she IS going to tell someone her secret and it’ll probably be freaking Alya; you know, the girl who blabbed about her Adrien crush to Nino and is thus THE LEAST TRUTHWORTHY PERSON. (”bonus” if it’s before the amulets)
I’m having nightmares already about Alya distrusting Lila because Marinette is Ladybug and not because Alya believes in Marinette. DX

Now that it’s been confirmed (in the worst way possible) that Jagged Stone is in fact Luka’s (and possibly Juleka’s?) father, how would you handle the whole mixed family aspect considering Jagged and Anarka’s relationship, Jagged and Penny’s, Anarka and Penny’s, Jagged and Luka’s (and Juleka’s?), and Penny and Luka’s (and Juleka’s?)? Topics like mixed families and family relationships are something that needs to be handled sensibly and sensitively given how it hits home for a lot of real-world people. Since we obviously can’t trust the ML writers to handle such topics the way that they deserve to be, how would you go about it knowing what we know up to this point about each character on their own and how they interact with one another?
Luka and Juleka were “accidents,” but Anarka kept it a secret from Jagged since Jagged was already hyped up to go on his next tour and Anarka knew their relationship was crumbling (possibly he already dumped her as his guitarist and she was annoyed about it). Jagged eventually learns that he has kids and is hesitant towards the idea, but because of him doting on Marinette (who’s the same age as his kids), he opens up to the idea.
Anarka and Jagged in present are mixed between tolerating each other for the sake of their kids and being chaotic best friends. The bad blood died out a while ago and there’s occasional tension but because Anarka is a single woman not interested in Jagged and Jagged is single with a possible thing for Penny, they make it work
Anarka and Penny have an awkward relationship. Penny wants to schedule time for Jagged to hang with Luka and Juleka and Anarka is confused at the very concept of a schedule, like just take them whenever okay??? isn’t it easier that way??? and Penny is like, “...oh, I guess so?”
Jagged and Penny, it depends on if they’re in any sort of relationship. If they’re in a relationship, Penny is either open to the idea of him learning to be good with kids if she’ll eventually want kids with him, or mixed because these are another woman’s kids and it’s really awkward. If they’re not in a relationship, then Penny could also be mixed since she’s crushing on him but I could also see her either finding it sweet that Jagged wants to hang out with his kids or finding it a hassle to schedule them in.
Jagged and Luka is rough. Luka has so many conflicting feelings on his idol ending up being his father. Jagged will probably even comment on Luka’s shirt + necklace and all of Luka’s merch in an attempt to bond but that kind of comes off desperate/awkward and Luka’s not about that life. I could also see Luka taking all the stuff down and swapping out his shirt, but being hesitant to remove the necklace because it’s a gift from Marinette. He might try to wash off the signature. He knows it’s not Jagged’s fault exactly but Anarka seemed to have bad blood with him and even if they get along now, Luka’s bitter. Jagged meanwhile wants to connect with Luka because hey musician energy!! but is gonna mess up a lot and say a lot of awkward things. Marinette will probably have to be a middle man between the two because it’s easier for them to talk with her around.
Jagged and Juleka don’t have a significant relationship at first. Juleka never care who her father was and she wasn’t crazy about Jagged Stone like Luka was. Jagged does try to connect with her but they clash majorly due to Jagged being so “loud” and Juleka being so quiet. Jagged will see it as a huge accomplishment the day where Juleka says something coherent (i.e: not a mumble) to him.
Yeah though, keep in mind for all of this that I’m not a family relationship kinda girl, so this isn’t my forte (I’m probably the most sympathetic to Jagged out of the whole fandom; not to say I agree with his actions but I have a history of hating babies and children, so not cool of him if he ditched Anarka but like, I get it, doesn’t make him better but I get it from a non-realistic standpoint of “ew, parenting”).

You know what? Imma gonna ignore canon for a bit more than I’ve been doing. The only thing I take away from “Truth” is that Marinette loves Luka and Tikki looks adorable in hats. That’s it have a good Saturday! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Anonymous said:
If there’s one small detail that I thought was genuinely cute this episode, it’s Tikki posing in the mirror with her little hat collection.
Ahaha, those are good takeaways!
And yes, Tikki looked good in hats, but at what cost. (guys, where’s our jealous Tikki episode where Tikki is jealous of the attention Marinette has to give the other kwami wait no they’d just make it Marinette’s fault go back go ba--)
Anonymous asked:
Am I the only on squicked out by how Adrien acts all noble and claims he would never force Ladybug to tell him anything, but when it becomes apparent that he has to ask her a question before the akuma can he goes all ‘what are your three favorite things about me?’ :3c I mean, he had decent amount of time to think up a bunch of innocent questions that couldn’t hurt her in any way like ‘what is your favorite color?’ or ‘do you like cookies?’ or even ‘what’s the capitol of France?’ But instead he basically demands she compliment him. Coming from a guy who spent most of the last two seasons refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer that’s a bit… icky.
THIS
He could’ve phrased it in any way and he used it to get compliments from her. :|
At least Ladybug asked a legitimate question about how he felt about her guardian status.

I had this idea for an episode: Luka finds out that Marinette is LB because he is in danger. Let's say he gets yeeted off a building by an akuma and Marinette (in her civilian form) jumps after him, transforms while Luka sees it (he's shook, obviously), she grabs him and saves him from falling. I think that would be pretty epic, do you think you could write a one-shot based on that idea if you feel like that? I would forever be thankful. Have a nice day!
I like the idea, though I feel like that’s been done a lot before in identity reveal fanfics.
Anonymous said:
You know, despite them all getting interrupted, I thought the attempts at Lukanette dates was really cute. Luka picking up Marinette from school, the two trying to see who is the biggest jagged fan, getting ice cream at Andre's, it's really cute! I only wish Hawkmoth and the writers weren't such dickheads.
It’s so adorable!
Like--show, you aren’t doing a good job at getting me off the Lukanette train.
Anonymous said:
Are you sure the Lukanette breakup wasn't Marinette's fault? I mean, the episode frames it like she's refusing to tell the truth, even if it's for a good reason.
I’m not sure when I said that the episode didn’t frame it as her fault?
Things are ALWAYS Marinette’s fault, it’s literally a rule of the show.
Anonymous said:
You know the truth episode actually gives more reasons for lukanette in my opinion based of its description you said. Luka is ridiculously understanding and also almost manages to fight off hawk moth as well as taking probably a week at least for him to get to that and yet he, while he’s upset, still tries to be there for marinette. Also makes the relationships she has with her friends and family worse if the secret they think she has is that she likes adrien while dating Luka.
YES!!
And oh my gosh, I feel the friends and family comment so badly. Just throwing it out there, maybe you guys don’t actually support her???
Anonymous said:
How do you feel about Luka having no negative reaction to this whole "Marinette loves Adrien" thing? I understand that he isn't exactly the jealous type, but still, it seems weird to me that he just accepts it while Marinette is dating him. I love Luka a lot, but in this situation his reaction was just so unrealistic...
Honestly, I find it really interesting. Plus, it’s Truth who’s being told those things, not Luka, and Truth has other priorities.
And--I mean, I’m positive that Luka got into the relationship knowing that Marinette wasn’t completely over Adrien. She wanted to see if they’d work and he wanted to date her. It’s both of them being a little selfish in a way and I like that.
That’s why I think he doesn’t have a big reaction to the Adrien call. He seems amused more than anything, and Luka is empathetic also so he knows not to take Marinette’s stammering/mistakes to heart because she doesn’t mean them. We already had evidence of that in “Desperada.”

Even if Lukanette had stayed together, I have a feeling Alya would complain that it's not Adrien...which could lead to a character growth opportunity for her when her complaining leads to Luka getting hurt when he overhears and becomes an akuma. But that's too interesting.
Interesting character relationships??? In THIS show???
never

After watching Truth the only thing I can feel at the moment is bitter. Not angry, not sad, not disappointed. Just bitter.
Bitter’s a good way of putting it, yeah. *sigh*

The fact that the second episode released managed to get a bingo really says a lot about how predictable the show's garbage fire writing.
I KNOW, RIGHT??
I knew the Lukanette episode would be a big card filler but DAMN.

I hated all of Truth, but perhaps the worst part was how hard they tried to remind you that, no matter how much of a good time Marinette and Luka have together, it's Adrien who Marinette will end up with in the end. From Alya rudely insinuating "girl, you're acting stupid, is Adrien at your house?", to Luka receiving a PICTURE of Adrien from a kwami, to Marinette talking on the phone with Luka while her Adrien pictures are in the background, to Marinette CALLING LUKA ADRIEN, to Truth demanding that people tell him Marinette's secret, only for them ALL to say "She's in love with Adrien Agreste.".
It's absolutely anger-inducing because it tries too hard to let the audience know to forget about Luka because Adrien is lurking in the corner and he and Marinette are endgame. The fans are right, Luka IS a second choice, but not in the way they think. Luka's a second choice, not for Marinette, but for the Miraculous Ladybug world. for the WRITERS!!!
But what bothers me the most is that everyone saying that Marinette loves Adrien is accepted as truth even when Marinette herself says she's over Adrien. Her words are ignored, how she feels is ignored, because everyone else(including the girl squad, when they're supposed to be her "friends") tells her that she's supposed to be in love with Adrien, and so she "has" to go along with it because ENDGAME. It's the show saying "stupid naive Marinette, you're too immature and dumb to know how you really feel, let someone else do the thinking for you!"
Meanwhile Adrien moving on with Kagami is accepted even when he still flirts with Ladybug(and forces her to build up his ego when he asks her what she admires most about him; I know it was a spur of the moment thing, but meta-wise, it was obvious love square pushing.), because "he's trying to respect her feelings and date someone else!" It's one of the main gripes I have with the show: that teenage girls are too emotional and confused to know what they really want, but teenage boys are mature and rational enough to make up their minds about who they love without holding any animosity towards anyone.
The all-white, all-male writing team pushes the Chinese girl's feelings aside and forces her to hide and erase them if they're not want they want her to feel, while the white boy gets congratulated with a pat on the back for doing the bare minimum and always, ALWAYS, takes the moral high ground(even in superhero form when he's supposedly goofy.). When she's the lead.
"Luka's a second choice, not for Marinette, but for the Miraculous Ladybug world. for the WRITERS!!!“
LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
It’s just tiring. It’s not even me being sick of the love square, but it being forced into everything when it’s not even relevant. The episode strategically throws more and more of Marinette’s Adrien crush (I did the math, I know this) into the mix and it provides nothing but the same tired jokes. Heck, they keep leaning on the lucky charm Marinette let him borrow (not GAVE, let him BORROW) back in Season 1 because they basically have nothing else to go off of.

The Wisdom Teeth Reveal
Alya visits Marinette after she gets her wisdom teeth removed.
Warnings for angst. Angst. ANGST. ANGST.
...No one said the reveal was going to be a good one.
____________________________
It was supposed to be funny.
When Alya had learned Marinette would be getting her wisdom teeth removed, it had sounded like the perfect opportunity for some fun. People under the effects of the medication were usually suggestible and easily fooled. It would make for a hilarious prank. She could record it and share it with Marinette later once she was recovered. They would have a long laugh over it.
People did it all the time. So it was supposed to be okay, right?
Besides, Marinette was a good sport. She never complained about the things Alya posted about her to Instagram, after all. Regardless of what any of those lame self-righteous naysayers claimed. Besides, she gave Marinette permission to do the same to her, so that was fair. Those people didn’t know what they were talking about.
And this would just be another bit of harmless fun to add to the mix.
Oooo! And what if she got video of Marinette confessing her feelings for Adrien! People on the medication were often noted to lack a filter. Maybe she could use this to help her bestie. She could get Marinette to admit her feelings and then show the video to Adrien! It would be perfect!
Alya chuckled to herself as she made her way to Marinette’s room, giving a brief reassurance to Sabine as she told Alya that Marinette was resting and not to bother her too much. Not like recording for prosperity was really anything too strenuous.
Sure enough, when she made it into the room, Marinette was on her bed sleeping. And completely out of it. It wasn’t any trouble getting her to wake up and acknowledge Alya’s presence. No more than it was to have her camera out and at the ready.
“Alya...m’tired.”
“C’mon, Marinette! You need to wake up!”
“I want to sleep.”
“You need to answer a few questions first.”
“But ‘m supposed to rest?”
“Your mom said it was okay.” Well, technically anyway. “Really?”
“Yes. So you have to.”
“Oh. Okay...” Marinette frowned, unhappily but forced herself into a sitting position.
Alya grinned, gleefully.
“So Marinette, what do you think of everyone in our class?”
Marinette smiled. Or at least as much as she could with the gauze. “They’re great. I l’ve ‘em lots.”
“Aww.” Alya cooed. “We love you too, Marinette.”
Marinette looked at Alya in surprise, her eyes welling up with tears. “Really?” She asked. Like this was actually a surprise.
“Of course!”
And...oh. Yeah, she was crying now. And wiping away the tears that kept coming. “I wasn’t sure.” She sobbed. “Cause...cause we’ve all known each other for years but we’ve never been close. I mean, Chloe bullied me all the time and no one ever said anything. They just sorta...let her.” She hiccuped. “This is the first year any of us actually hung out or anything. And everyone has been so nice and I was scared.”
She wiped her nose. “S’why I do so much. And take on all the requests. And became Class Rep. Cause I want them all to like me and ‘m scared they don’t. Or they’ll stop. An...an maybe if I keep doing things for them, they’ll like me.” She looked up at Alya, eyes red and wet. “They love me?”
Alya swallowed. “Y...yeah.”
And Marinette started crying again.
...okay, this was a bit more uncomfortable than she’d been planning on. Time to switch gears.
She had originally planned on a joke about Adrien agreeing to date her, but given how much she was crying and already worked up, Alya reconsidered. She didn’t want to dehydrate the girl, after all.
But she could still help her.
“Hey, Marinette. You love us all, right?”
“Yeah.” Marinette agreed, nodding enthusiastically for a moment before the dizziness set in and she held her head.
Alya grinned. “That’s great! So what do you think of Adrien? You love him, right?”
“Yeah...”
She had to hold back a cackle. “How much do you love him?”
Marinette hummed to herself at that. Her eyes were squinting and her face was scrunched up in thought.
Alya leaned forward eagerly, phone in perfect position to record every word.
“I wish I never met him.”
Alya’s eyes widened in shock.
“What?”
Marinette sniffled but didn’t answer.
“No. Come on, Mari. I need to know. You love Adrien, don’t you?”
“I do. And I hate it.”
She had stopped crying. Just...stared ahead blankly.
“I’ve...done a lot for him, y’know? I let him think my gift was from his father. I helped him with Kagami. Twice. And I don’t expect that I’m owed anything, because that’s not fair to him. But it’s just...I’ve already done so much but it’s like nothing I do is good enough. I can’t tell him how I feel without something going wrong. And he just...he never sees me. It’s like...maybe it’s the universe’s way of telling me we aren’t meant to be.”
She laughed, sadly.
“But what really hurts...is how little I matter to him.”
“What? Marinette, no! Of course you matter to him!” Alya insisted, trying to reassure her.
Marinette shook her head.
“Not as much as Chloe. Not as much as Lila. It’s like...he knows. He knows what they do. An how they treat me. But...I’m still the one in the wrong for being upset about it.”
Alya frowned. “Marinette, what do you mean by that?”
“It’s like...it’s like how Chloe was leaving! She was gonna leave! I was finally free!” Marinette exclaimed, waving her arms excitedly. “Everyone was happy about it! Not just me! But...he got so upset. And...he just...was all ’poor Chloe’. And how can we be happy she was gone? I...wanted to say so much. But it felt wrong. And...did I really have to point out every horrible thing she’s done? How she hurt me an everyone else? It was obvious! But I couldn’t say it because it’d just make him feel bad for defending her. So the best reasoning I had was that she was ‘useless’ like...like that was the real problem and not that she was mean. Or that she made fun of me every day. Or stole my hat design. Or stole my diary. Or ruined my gift. Or blackmailed everyone. But it was like...he just maybe forgot? And he started a guilt trip to make me feel bad for my bully until I had to be the one to admit being wrong.” Marinette sobbed. “He never stood up for me like that. No matter what Chloe did to me.”
Alya bit her lip. Because no, she couldn’t argue that.
“What if we were dating? What would really happen, do you think? Chloe wouldn’t just let it go. Would he defend me? Or would he lecture me again and take her side? I have nightmares where we’re married and she just...keeps crashing our dates. And taking over our house. And taking Adrien away from me. And Adrien just lets her and I can’t say anything because then he’ll be upset with me.”
She leaned her head back, the picture of exhaustion.
“And I’m just so tired. I try, y’know? And no matter what I do, he never sees me. It’s like I’m being punished every time. Punished for trying. Punished for not trying. I’m like...stuck in...in....”
“Limbo?” Alya suggested, weakly.
Marinette nodded. “Yeah! I’m stuck in limbo and I just want out. Just...just let him tell me no so I can move on already. Because...cause this...this hurts.” More tears fell. “This hurts a lot.”
“So you don’t care who Adrien ends up with?” Alya asked.
“I care. I can’t not care. I just...it depends? It’s okay if it’s Kagami because I know she loves him. Cause I still want him to be happy and in a good nice happy relationship and Kagami cares about him and wouldn’t let Chloe take over. Kagami can stand up for herself better than I can. S’why I’m really jealous of her.”
Okay. This was...not what she had been hoping for. But if Marinette was okay with Kagami dating Adrien, then that meant she had no reason to be upset with Lila, right?
Marinette was clearly out of it. But her current state was only one where she lacked a filter. That meant...everything she was saying...
What was that quote? Drunk words are sober thoughts?
“So you’d be okay with Adrien dating someone else?” Alya asked.
“It’d be a relief.” Marinette muttered.
“Even if it was Lila?”
Marinette froze. The tension suddenly skyrocketed.
“Not Lila.” The words were biting despite her voice being muffled and the slurring of her words.
“Why?” Alya demanded angrily. How could she be okay with Kagami of all people but not Lila?
Marinette hummed to herself, seemingly absent-minded. Alya almost wanted to shake her.
And then...
“Lila threatened me.”
Alya froze, nearly losing her grip on the camera. “What?”
“She threatened me. In the restroom. That day she came back.”
Her thoughts were scrambling. Her mind racing to find an explanation.
“Maybe you misunderstood?” Alya suggested. Maybe Lila had been put off by Marinette’s attitude and was just warning her how she could push people away by acting like that? Marinette had been overly harsh on the girl after all.
But Marinette shook her head. “She said she tells people what they want to hear. Called everyone idiots for believing her.” Marinate curled in on herself, drawing her legs to her chest. “And then she said I could either let her or she’d turn everyone against me. Even Adrien. Though maybe I should’ve let her since he knows she’s lying and defends her anyway.”
She burrowed her head into her knees.
“S’why I was upset. Why th’ akuma came.”
Alya’s eyes widened. “Akuma? You were almost akumatized?”
Marinette nodded, still not looking up. “M’hmm. But T’kki talked to me an made me feel better so it went away. Then Lila got ak’matized.”
Who was Turkey supposed to be?
“Wait. Hold on.” Alya cut her off. “Why didn’t you tell me this happened?”
Marinette lifted her head from her knees, looking at Alya blearily. “Y’o didn’t believe me when I told you before though?”
“That was because you didn’t have proof!” Alya replied, defensively. “But you didn’t say she threatened you!”
“I didn’t have proof then either.” Marinette pointed out, strangely logical. She turned her head away to look at a spot on the wall. “But I had the story with Adrien and Ladybug. An’ how I returned Adrien’s missing book.”
“Wait—what?”
“Yeah. Cause Lila stole it. S’how I got it.” Marinette said, pointing a finger at nothing in particular as if emphasizing the point. “She threw it in the trash when Adrien came. And she showed off a necklace...said it was the Fox Miraculous an that she was Volpina. Then Ladybug came and yelled at her for lying. But...” She wilted. “You didn’t believe me. An you didn’t listen to me.”
She looked back to Alya, genuinely sad. “You never listen to me.”
Alya jerked up, taken aback at that. “Of course I do! We’re friends, remember?”
“You sided with Lila right away.” Marinette noted, glumly. “Trusted her over me. Didn’t even ask Adrien about my story just to be sure before deciding Lila was right. Or ask me about Jagged Stone to confirm her ‘kitten on the runway’ story. You knew I returned the book to let Adrien come back but didn’t take my word on where it came from? You knew I helped Adrien on his date with K’gami but still said I was only jealous over Lila because of him? Did you...even consider how that hurt?” She clenched her fists. “That I was blown off? That you didn’t trust me?”
“Well...” Alya hesitated, glancing to the side in uncertainty. “You have done some wild stuff out of jealousy before.”
Marinette blinked, staring at Alya in confusion. “I lied? I tried to hurt people? I lied about people to hurt them?”
“Well—no—I mean...” Because truthfully, Marinette hadn’t. Not intentionally or maliciously. And while there were a number of times she did hurt people’s feelings in her attempts to win Adrien’s heart, she always felt guilty for it and apologized once she realized it. She had often acted without consideration for the effects on other people, but she never acted with intent to cause harm.
She had always tried to make it up to people regardless of whether she was in the wrong. Even Chloe. So it didn’t make sense why she wouldn’t do the same for Lila.
“I know some things went too far.” Marinette admitted. “And I always apologized. But it’s like admitting I was wrong somehow meant I was always wrong. And I just kept apologizing even when it wasn’t my fault because I didn’t know what else to do.”
Marinette picked at a loose thread on her knee.
“My mind blanks and I panic a lot. And I’ve tried to do better but it feels like you don’t help with that and I have to always be the one to make up for it all.”
Wait, now she wasn’t making sense. “Marinette, what are you talking about?”
Marinette tilted her head to the side, taking a moment to think.
“During the modeling attempt with Juleka.” Marinette started, eyes unfocused as she recalled the incident. “I didn’t want Adrien there. You invited him anyway. S’wasn’t a good time. S’wasn’t a good place. But I couldn’t tell him no after he already agreed to you asking. When Juleka was upset, I tried to talk to her. And you...you pushed her out. To put me in. To force me with Adrien. I wasn’t okay with it either. It was distracting. I wanted to focus. I wanted to help Juleka. But you pushed about Adrien and put us on a time limit. We left her behind and she was aku...ak’ma...doll thingy.”
It was cute and silly and in any other situation, Alya would have laughed. But she couldn’t laugh about this.
“And when it was all over, I had to apologize. Even...even though it wasn’t my fault. Cause...cause I tried, at least? And at the end, I was the one left out cause of it. Like...like I had to make up for it all. An...an this seems to happen a lot. I think?”
“Marinette...”
“You push me a lot. I’m not ready. Not okay with it. Tell you no. But suddenly I’m there and he’s there and I feel like I have to do something because you’re watching and I know what’ll happen if I mess up. Then I panic and mess up anyway and you just...the way you look at me.” Tears started to fall again and she clenched her eyes shut. “It hurts. Like you’re disappointed and annoyed but not surprised cause you expected me to fail. But then like...why do you put me there? Why do you keep putting me there if you knew?”
She looked up at Alya.
“Is it...fun to you?”
Alya suddenly felt her mouth go dry. She couldn’t speak.
“Like...the instagram pic-tures. You got mad when people commented and said it was mean, but you never asked me how I felt anyway. I don’t complain cause I don’t want to make you feel bad but...like...you don’t know it’s embarrassing? Or you do and don’t care? I hafta watch anything I do when you’re around because I never know if you’re taking more pictures of me to post there and...you never ask.” She shrugged and looked away. “You say I can do the same, but y’know I won’t. I’d never. Cause I love you too much and...that’s what friends do, right? Look out for each other and not share things they don’t want shared? Keep secrets?”
Alya swallowed.
“But you told Nino.”
Alya flinched.
“You told him how I felt. Used him to put me in a position I will never not regret.” She gave a sob. “And I don’t know why anymore. Do you...do you like watching me fail?”
“I was...trying to help.” Alya explained.
“Then why does it hurt each time? Why do you talk down to me so much?” Marinette gripped her hair and pulled in clear agitation. “You get mad at me for talking about Adrien. You get mad at me for trying to confess to Adrien. You get mad at me for trying to give up on Adrien. I don’t know what to do to make you not mad.”
“Marinette, it’s not like that! You know that!” Alya insisted, feeling her heard pounding. In fear? In hurt? It was hard to tell.
The bluenette paused, slowly lowering her hands and relaxing her shoulders.
“Sometimes...”Marinette murmured. “Sometimes I wonder if this is how friendship is supposed to be. But...y’re the first friend I ever had. So I don’t know. And I’m too scared to ask because what if it is and you get mad and leave me? And that...everything else hurts. But the thought of you leaving me hurts more. I don’t know if it’d be worse to give up.”
Alya felt her own eyes tear up.
She couldn’t answer that. There was no answer for that.
There was a long silence.
“’M really tired.” Marinette suddenly complained. “And my mouth hurts. Is the surgery done yet?” She asked, looking up at Alya in confusion. Like the entire conversation never happened.
“Y-yeah.” Alya said, nodding her head. “They...everything just finished up. Your mom said you could sleep now.”
“Oh. Kay.” Marinette mumbled. Recognizing that she was in her own bed, she went to lay down, only struggling a little with the covers.
Alya began backing away, reaching for the door.
“G’night, Alya. Thank you for watching out for me.”
She froze, her hand on the door handle.
“Of...of course.” Alya replied.
“That’s...what friends do, after all.”

Fly Away
Episode 3: Despair Bear
Ao3 - First - 2
(Féline Sombre & Paon Lilas designs)
Summery: An AU where Adrien never went to in-person school, not getting the cat miraculous, and found the peacock miraculous. -Chloé, determined to be allowed back to visit Adrien’s house, and discovering Adrien is visiting Marinette, sets up a party to showcase just how nice she can be. (posted in full for tumblr while I have power/internet on my computer :P)
-
Duusu was sitting on top of Adrien’s shoulder when he pressed play on the virtual hello from the class he was almost able to join. Adrien handed him a dried mango chip and he happily munched on it.
Chloé, of course, was the first person to show up on the video, “Adrikins Hiii! I miss you already~”
The camera turned around to show Sabrina, who must’ve been recording. She waved “Hi!”
“Sabrinaaa, camera focused on me. Meee.”
 “Oh, right!”
Chloé spent at least a third of the video showing him the building as if she owned it. ...Adrien was surprised it didn’t last longer.
It shifted from the single-take style into more professionally edited together clips of various classmates. Adrien assumed this was where the boy interested in filmmaking had taken over.
“Yo, I’m Nino, hope you get to hang out outside of school one of these days dude. If you ever need a DJ I’m your man! See you around someday!”
 “Hi, I’m Alya, investigative journalist-”
 Chloé scoffed offscreen, “You wish.”
“Chloé I will-” the video cut out whatever happened after that. Alya stood a bit prouder, “I run the Ladyblog and am the head of the school blog! If you ever have any curiosity about the school news or superhero news, just check those out! Leave some comments if you want and I’ll get back to you asap! Keep it classy."
The rest of the class’s videos went about the same, until the very last one. The girl from the bakery frowned at someone off to the side out of sight from the camera.
“Come on girl, before Chloé comes back.”
“Hi, I’m er, Marinette. I’m uh, an aspiring fashion designer and my parents own Tom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie. I suggest trying out the macaroons! I brought some on the first day, uh, but I tripped so there weren't many left anyway so you probably didn’t miss anything!” She giggled awkwardly. She trailed off, giving a pleading look towards someone behind the camera. “Alya, I don’t know what else to say.”
“Whatever you’d say to a new kid!”
“Uhg, get better friends than Chloé?” She covered her mouth as Alya and Nino laughed from behind the camera. “I- mean whatttt Chloé's er, Chloé. Great evil-er friend… to er, to be setting up this videooo….ohmygosh. Can you edit that out?”
“I would’ve, but now I’m keeping it.” Nino said. Marinette gasped in offence while Alya and Nino giggled more.
“What are you all giggling over?” Chloé complained off-screen. Marinette gave a pointed look to the camera, and the video faded into a written message.
“Sorry I couldn’t properly finish my message. I wish you a wonderful year, and hope you can build great friendships, even without going to school. At least you don’t have to worry about being late! Good luck Adrien -Signed, Marinette.”
 “Awwwwwwww, that’s sweet,” Duusu cried.
“Yeah, it was.” He got out his phone to text Chloé a thank you. He sighed as he looked at her many, many, many messages of upset about no longer being allowed over anymore. He was just glad she didn’t get akumatized over it….
He got up, glancing at Duusu. "How about we go visit the bakery and see if Marinette is open to hanging out. My father can't ban me from bakeries, right?"
Duusu giggled, "Sounds like fun!" He frowned, "Are you only choosing to visit Marinette because she has a good place to tell your father you're going to?"
"...No… She's just the only person in that video who mentioned a place I can visit at all."
Duusu just giggled like he knew something Adrien didn't. He shook his head with a smile and grabbed his bag. "Come on, let's go."
-
"Marinette," Sabine called, opening the trap door to Marinette's room. She waved to the group of girls doing a miniature fashion show there. "Your friend's here."
Marinette looked up from the blog post Alya was showing her, as the other girls continued to put on various jewelry pieces. "Who? I didn't ask anyone else to come over?"
"A boy named Adrien. I can tell him you're busy if you want me to."
"Adrien… Agreste?" Marinette tilted her head. He was Chloé's friend. The one that visited the bakery and fell/she pushed. Wait… he was also the guy who she made a feathered hat for who had a feather allergy wasn't he?! Why on earth would he want to visit her? Did he have some sort of ulterior motive? Was he Chloé's spy? Did he want revenge for the feathers?! "Er."
Alya, Rose, Juleka, and Myléne all oooh-ed at the same time.
"Oh hush. What uh, do you all think?"
Alya grinned "Good with me, girl. I wanna see how this plays out."
Rose nodded enthusiastically and Juleka gave a thumbs up.
Myléne smiled, adjusting her hat, "He's a professional model right? He probably could give us some tips!"
Marinette rolled her eyes, lowering her voice to a harsh stage-whisper, "He's Chloé’s friend."
"The one we made the video for, yep," Alya nodded, "Exactly my point. You said it yourself, he needs better friends than her." ….On the other hand, instead of a revenge-seeking spy, he could simply be that lonely sounding boy they made a video for, trying to escape the clutches of the evil Chloé. Marinette could be the only non-Chloé & minions person he knows! Marinette sighed heavily.
Sabine sighed softly, "Marinette… he's waiting downstairs. Yes or no."
"Okay! Okay. I'll go down and bring him up, I guess." Marinette trudged down, ignoring the giggling girls.
-
Adrien was wandering curiously around the bakery, hands politely behind his back. He noticed the door open and waved enthusiastically to Marinette. She squeaked and closed the door. Sabine raised a brow.
"You can always tell him you're busy."
"Nooo, it's fine." Marinette sighed and entered the room. Adrien’s confused head tilt turned into a smile. Like a… puppy. An incredibly patient puppy waiting for someone to play with him.
"Hi Marinette. I watched that video today! Thank you, it was really sweet of you guys to do that. I hope you don't mind me kinda just… showing up."
"Oh er… you're welcome. I was actually hanging out with some of the girls who helped make that."
"Oh! If you're busy-" He gestured awkwardly to the door.
"No, no, uh, we were just hanging out, you can join us."
He immediately perked up, "Cool! That sounds like fun!"
Marinette stared at him in his enthusiasm and nodded. "Come on up."
Adrien climbed up into the room, Marinette shortly after him. The group of girls all immediately hushed their conversation upon noticing them and dissolved into giggles.
He chuckled and waved, "Well hello. You all are wearing some lovely hats, is this a fashion show?"
"We're helping Marinette take photos for her Instagram." Myléne said.
 "And future blog!" Alya added.
"They've been great models for me," Marinette smiled.
"Oh really? May I see some of the photos?" Alya handed him a phone immediately. He scrolled through some of the photos, nodding."These are great," he smiled and glanced at Marinette, "You made all these hats?"
Marinette nodded, giggling. Rose bounced over to Adrien, showcasing a necklace. "She makes jewelry too!"
"Those are lovely! You're really talented!" He gave Marinette a dazzling smile. She giggled and stuttered something, which was almost a thanks?
"Hey, you're like, a pro model, right?" Alya asked, "Do you mind helping us? Got some insider tips?"
"Oh, uh, sure!" Adrien smiled. It would be fun to help them. Probably more so than a regular photo shoot.
-
Chloé gasped at her phone. Her Adrien in a picture on Marinette's Instagram post? All squished in a group photo with her little squad?! Why is he hanging out with her!?
She called Adrien, anxiously tapping her nails against the back of the phone.
Adrien picked up and Chloé did not waste a precious minute. "Why are you at Dupain-Chang's?"
"Hello to you too, Chloé. I'm just hanging out. Marinette and her friends wanted some help with modeling her fashions."
"Humph, that ugly stuff? Far too kind of you to do that for her."
He sighed, "Maybe you could benefit from being a bit kinder, Chloé. It's not that hard."
She heard a few hushed whispers in the background over the line. She balked. "I- But why would your father let you visit her and not let me, your oldest friend, over!"
"Marinette didn't steal a book from my father's safe and get him upset enough to get akumatized." Adrien's voice was level. Gentle even. Chloé felt that was probably worse than any direct anger.
Marinette's voice in the background squeaked out "Chloé’s book belonged to your dad?!"
"Oh." Chloé muttered. "But actually Sabrina-"
"I don't care if you got Sabrina to do it or not. I care if you learn from this kind of stuff and become a bit more considerate," Adrien sighed, "Maybe if you showcase some better behavior my father might let you come back over more again. But until then, I can't do anything about it. Sorry."
"I…" Any defences or retorts died on her tongue.
Adrien waited a moment, "I gotta go Chloé. Talk to you later, okay? Goodbye."
 "Goodbye...Adrien."
Adrien hung up and she plopped onto the couch, staring at the earlier text messages between her and Adrien.
 Chloé blinked away tears.
-
Adrien sighed, turning towards the group of girls, "Sorry. My father kinda banned Chloé from coming over to my house and she's still… very upset about it…"
"She…" Marinette coughed, "Um. What was that about a book?"
"Chloé and Sabrina came over and uh, Sabrina got caught taking my father's book. It was important to him. Apparently they lost it… I was hoping they could find and return it and they'd be allowed back but…" He glanced at the floor and shrugged.
"Right. Right. And where did your dad get this book? Er… Maybe we can get a replacement?" She giggled awkwardly.
"I don't know. He didn't explain much about it." He waved a hand dismissively, "Anyway, you were uh, suggesting food?"
"Right!" Marinette cheered, "Shall we raid the kitchen? Maybe dad can teach us a good recipe and we can bake something like we were supposed to at school today." She opened the door and gestured for the group to file out downstairs.
"Yeah, before the fire alarm interfered," Alya said, walking down.
Rose took Julika's hand and they made their way down, Meline and Adrien not far behind.
Marinette waited for them to get out of earshot before whispering for Tiki to come out. She zipped out as Marinette grabbed her purse. "If Chloé got the book from Adrien's house, why did Adrien's father have the spellbook? He was akumatized so he can't be Hawkmoth right?"
Tiki shrugged helplessly, "You'll have to go over and ask him."
"Ugh, why is tracing down who had this book like a game of evil telephone?" Marinette groaned.
"Marinette, are you coming?" Myléne called.
"Oop! Be right there!" She opened her purse for Tiki to zip into it. She raced down the steps to catch up to her friends.
-
Jean-Claude arrived with chocolates and Chloé tearfully popped them into her mouth. He lingered despite his job being complete. "May I ask what has upset Mademoiselle?"
"Adrien doesn't wanna be my friend anymoreeee," She whined, "He's making new friends with other girls. How can he do this to me, Jean-Michel?"
"Uh, my name is- nevermind. Perhaps Mademoiselle can see comfort with Mr. Cuddly?" He offered the stuffed bear with a light flourish.
She gasped and grabbed the teddy bear, cuddling it close.
"If you don't mind my asking Mademoiselle, did he say why?"
"Something, something kindness and consideration." She waved a hand. She pouted. "What do I do Jean-Yves?"
"Perhaps Mademoiselle remembers Mr. Cuddly when she was a little girl and how he was always nice to Mademoiselle when she was a child?"
Chloé pursed her lips, eyes shiny, and nodded.
"Mr. Cuddly is always kind, even when it doesn't directly benefit him. But that has made him a very good friend. Perhaps, Mademoiselle can follow Mr. Cuddly's example and Adrien  will see how good a friend Mademoiselle can be."
"Oh you're right Jean-Jacque, Adrien wanted me to show his dad I'm considerate, so I'll show him! Then I'll get my Adrikins back and he'll stop hanging out with Dupain-Chang! Er…. How...should I do that?" She giggled awkwardly.
Jean-Pierre sighed heavily, looking exhausted already.
-
Adrien was covered in flour and giggling about it. Juleka wasn't even halfway through a mumbled apology before he was forgiving her. Marinette wasn't sure how he was supposedly friends with Chloé in the first place. Was he mind controlled or something by her?
Alya slid next to Marinette and grinned "So, are we thinking friendly boy or boyfriend here?"
Marinette rolled her eyes and shook her head "I am not competing with Chloé over her infamous 'Adrikins'. Blegh."
 "That wasn't a 'ew no' though~ You can't deny he's cute."
Marinette huffed, "Like, in a cute puppy way."
Alya snorted and nodded, "Fair enough."
The group's phones all pinged with the exception of Marinette's.
They each got out their phones. Adrien raised a brow. "Chloé's hosting a party?"
"Did you all get one?" Juleka asked, looking around at them.
Myléne nodded, "It looks like it. Maybe she's taking Adrien's advice and is gonna try to be nicer."
Marinette scoffed, "Please, it's probably some sort of joke or prank."
 "Did you get an invite?"
Marinette looked at her phone and shook her head, "No…"
Alya chuckled, "Well that means it's real and not a joke, doesn't it, hm?
Marinette made a disgruntled face. Then her phone pinged, "Eeew! I got invited!" She threw her phone, then stumbled to catch it before it landed in the batter. Adrien stumbled and caught it for her. They crashed into each other, pinning Adrien between the counter and Marinette. She immediately backpedaled. He giggled awkwardly and handed the phone to her, stepping back out of her space.
"This is gonna be so much fun! There's gonna be dancing!" Rose looked up, smiling at Juleka.
"Wait, you guys aren't seriously considering going, are you?" Marinette squeaked.
"Why not?" Myléne muttered, shrugging, "Maybe she's really trying to be nice."
"Chloé? Nice?" She shook her head, "Eugh, whatever, you guys can go but count me out."
Adrien shrugged, idly fiddling with the dough. "I've known Chloé for a long time. She can be cool, sometimes, really." He looked up. ...Wait, did he have baby-doll eyes like Manon or something?! What is this sorcery? He smiled softly. "Maybe give her a chance, Marinette."
Marinette pursed her lips and sighed "Yeah, yeah, fine, I guess." Alya’s teasing smirk didn't help at all though.
-
Chloé had it all planned. She had set up a section for adults as well, having sent invites for some of the teens' parents. Namely, she needed Adrien’s father to see how great of a person she could be. Unfortunately the main person she wanted there...was not. But hey maybe this could work with word-of-mouth…. Parents talk to other parents about how nice random kids are, right?
So while the adults mostly stayed around the tables talking, the teens danced and played in the ball pit. Jean-Paul had been practically following her around with Mr. Cuddly, reminding her what Mr. Cuddly would do. But, Adrien was there! And! Adrien smiled at her! Every time she was nice! So the plan seemed to be working.
Until he left the dance floor to talk to Marinette and her friends. She barely contained her rage. Actually, she didn't contain it at all. Chloé abandoned her dance with Kim and started marching toward them.
"Oh, I do need to get some of your guys' phone numbers or something so I don't have to make surprise visits all the time," Adrien said, giggling awkwardly.
Alya nodded, "Yeah for sure, I'll give you Nino's number too, he's DJing-"
Chloé was so close to pulling Adrien away until Jean-George blocked her path.
 "Mademoiselle if you-"
 "Move, Jean-Marc!"
He pulled out Mr Cuddly, and spoke in a squeaky voice, "Oh, Chloé dear, Mr Cuddly is very proud of you-" Chloé gasped and tried to bat the teddy bear away.
"Is that your teddy bear Chloé?" Kim laughed, leading the traitorous group of teens.
Chloé gasped and pulled Jean-Louis into the kitchens.
"I've had it with you and your stupid advice! Ive had it with you, Jean-whatever your stupid name is!"
"Mademoiselle I was only trying to help."
"No more Mademoiselle, no more help, no more anything! You're fired!" She marched out, leaving Jean-??? clutching the teddy bear. Somewhere, a very patient Hawkmoth (who purposefully declined an invitation in a subtle attempt to make a teenage girl more frustrated and anxious and make a villain at her party eventually) grinned to himself.
-
Sabrina was just chilling, really. She'd helped set up the entire thing and now they'd much rather just sit and drink her juice. Just as content as Plagg with an extra piece of cheese.
Until a teddy bear clamped onto her leg.
-
Chloé utilized her excess frustration to pull Adrien away from Marinette. "Come on, we should dance."
"Right now? But, I was talking to-" Adrien half heartedly protested, already stumbling along.
"He doesn't have to go with you if he doesn't want to, you can't just drag him around," Marinette interrupted, grabbing Adrien's other arm.
"Chloeee," Sabrina called, brandishing a hair brush like a weapon, "Come here. Let me brush your hair. It won't hurt I promise."
"Don't you see I'm busy?" Chloé huffed. She tugged on Adrien's arm, except this time she got resistance. Adrien pulled his arm away, frowning at Sabrina.
"Uh, something's… wrong with Sabrina," he said.
Sabrina smiled, and leapt toward Chloé.
Marinette intercepted Sabrina, brows furrowed in determination and flipped her onto the ground. Adrien stared at her.
 "Oh. Wow," He breathed out.
Sabrina blinked and sat up, "Huh? Why am I on the floor?"
Marinette frowned, looking around the room, "Er… you were… trying to attack Chloé."
Sabrina gasped and scrambled to a stand. "Ohno, I… I uh, I need to go." Sabrina anxiously smiled and then ran off.
"Me too actually… I, uh ...too much orange juice." Marinette ran off, leaving Adrien with- ….Where did Chloé go?
He glanced around, and found her swatting away… some kid Adrien didn't know. He was pretty sure they were in the video somewhere.
He frowned and glanced around, before running off to the stairwell.
-
Marinette shook her head as she hid in the bathroom stall, "Looks like Chloé upset someone. Guess it was only a matter of time. Tiki, Spots on!"
-
Sabrina raced into the kitchen, "Oh I can't believe I was just mind controlled by an Akuma. Poor Chloé!"
Plagg cackled in laughter, "You have the power of destruction and you were about to chase Chloé with a hair brush. I can't believe it."
They rolled their eyes, "That's definitely a good thing. Plagg, Claws out!"
-
Adrien closed the door to the stairwell, checking that no one was there. Duusu zipped out with a cheer, "You love Marinette!"
"I- what? I er-" He blushed and glanced to the side, "No I don't," his voice came out squeaky.
"Yes you do, I know it!" Duusu giggled, gesturing to himself, "      Emotion     Kwami." Duusu tilted his head, "Do you intend to tell her? How? Maybe a cute letter or something? Oh you two would be just so cute together! And we could have more fresh pastries!"
He sputtered and shook his head. "Focus Duusu. We need to help Chloé," Adrien said, fixing the brooch to the front of his shirt.
 Duusu giggled more.
Adrien took in a deep breath, trying to calm his own blush. "Duusu, Spread my feathers!"
-
Ladybug and Féline Sombre were already there… Well that was fast.
"You finally showed up! What took so long!?" Chloé cried towards the two superheros, as she peered from her hiding spot behind a pillar. ...Or maybe it wasn't fast? Did Chloé call them or something? She has mentioned being their friend. Often. By the annoyance from Ladybug, he guessed she wasn't a very good friend if that was the case.
"What, not excited to see me?" Paon Lilas asked with a grin.
"Oh yeah you too." Chloé waved a hand, apparently having just noticed him. ...Paon really needed to work on some dramatic entrances.
Nino threw a CD disc towards Chloé and she shrieked.
Ladybug wrapped her yoyo around Chloé's leg, pulling her back and into the ball pit. Féline Sombre leaped up to restrain Nino.
 Nino blinked in confusion, "Huh?"
"Oh, sorry," Féline Sombre let him go, looking for the teddy bear controlling people.
Another boy threw a chair towards Ladybug. "How about a game of flying chairs?" He taunted.
"Love to but," Paon kicked the chair away, landing in a wall, "shouldn't music be involved?"
Ladybug was grabbed from behind and she pushed Alya off, spinning around to find the teen reporter blinking in confusion.
A boy raised a table above his head, and Féline Sombre extended her staff to knock it out of his hands. Paon grabbed the table before it flew into any civilians and dropped it on the floor. "Careful kitty."
"Whoops... But, where'd he go?" Féline asked, turning around.
Ladybug looked around frantically, trying to find someone who was acting off. Paon Lilas grabbed her hand.
"What are you doing?" Ladybug tugged away. Paon pulled back, making her stumble forward. "Oh no."
"Ooo, pretty earrings." He made a swipe towards her earrings and she shoved him back, making him stumble.
"Knock it off, bird brain!" She exclaimed.
He growled and tried again with a punch. Féline Sombre vaulted in on her staff and kicked him back into a table.
Paon Lilas plucked a feather and grabbed a plastic spoon from the table.
A floating marionette rod was summoned. The strings wrapped Féline Sombre's arms and legs. They gasped as they were dragged forward towards Ladybug.
"Hey!" Ladybug cried, "What are you doing?"
"I'm not doing this!" Féline shrieked. She threw a punch towards Ladybug, "Sorry!"
"Paws off kitty cat!" Chloé called, pushing Féline over.
"Thanks!" Ladybug called, "Lucky Charm!" And… got an over large crochet hook.
Paon Lilas growled and motioned his head, the senti-marrionetted Féline being flung back towards Chloé. He charged toward Ladybug.
Ladybug glanced between the marionette rod and the teddy bear. She grabbed a marionette string with the crochet hook Féline passed her and twirling the hook to properly tangle the string, threw it into a wall. The string snapped, giving Féline control of one of her hands.
"Féline," Ladybug called. Paon kicked her and she jumped back, "I need you to cut some strings soon!" Ladybug and Paon Lilas fought. She shielded, he swept her legs. He went in for a strike, she blocked.
"Sure thing, Bug," Féline raised a hand, summoning her destructive power, "Cataclysm!"
"Now, Chloé if you could be so kind-” She gestured to the captured marionette strings.
Chloé nodded, taking up the hook and diving for the teddy bear, catching a loop on its back. She tugged and threw it back to Féline Sombre. They touched the Akuma string with their Cataclysm.
Paon blinked as the Akuma was destroyed, halting a punch. He took in heavy breaths, stumbling back as a wave of fear hit him over the receding fog of mind control. "Ladybug? What are you doing?"
Fear was quickly replaced with relief and pride. Ladybug grinned, "Just saving your feathery hide with our new sidekick." She looked at Chloé.
"You haven't defeated me yet!" A small voice squeaked and kicked Paon Lilas in the chin.
"Watch your step!" Ladybug readied her yoyo to capture and purify the butterfly that was fluttering away.
"Can someone help me out here!?" Féline Sombre yelled. Paon glanced at the senti-monster strings attached to her feet and hand and then at the spoon he was carrying. His miraculous beeped. He snapped his fingers, pulling the amok from the spoon and dropping it.
Ladybug threw her crochet hook into the air, "Miraculous Ladybug!" The swarm of ladybugs returned everything in the room to normal. Ladybug and Féline Sombe high fived. Paon Lilas ran. Before either of them turned to look his way.
Ladybug turned, finding the other miraculous wielder missing. She sighed, "He flew off again."
 Chloé cleared her throat.
Ladybug blinked and looked at her. "Oh. Er, thanks for helping me back there…. It was very nice of you."
Chloé smiled, dusting off her jacket, "It was, wasn't it? Did you hear that, Jean-Pascal?! If Ladybug says I'm nice then Adrien and his dad have to believe it!"
"...Mademoiselle I must admit I have no memory of what just happened."
"Basically you turned evil and I saved you. Without me the superheros probably never would have succeeded." Chloé explained.
Both Ladybug's and Féline Sombre's miraculous' beeped.
"Gotta go," Ladybug said, running up the stairwell to the roof.
"Same here," Féline said, giving a polite nod to Chloé and Jean-Something. She ran out the doors.
"Hm. Maybe some of this nice-stuff of yours makes some sense….. Jean-Baptiste, I've decided to keep you on. Don't let the guests all run away, they don't wanna miss what's next!"
Jean-Pierre nodded "Thank you, Mademoiselle, I will Mademoiselle."
-
Adrien sighed as he watched Marinette finish her macaroons. He was too tired to make his own. He sat in a chair to avoid any sudden dizzy spells, resting his head on the table.
Chloé slid next to him, looping her arms around his shoulders. "Sooo Adrikins, I'm really nice now, did you notice? I even let Marinette's dad finish teaching everyone how to make those messy macaroons."
He pulled his attention from Marinette and nodded. "Yes, it's very nice of you." He smiled a little. She frowned…. Usually smiling causes the opposite response.
"Ugh, what's wrong? You're not like, super happy. I did everythingggg."
"Oh uh," he glanced at Marinette again, before looking back at Chloé, "It's nothing."
Chloé followed his glance and pouted, "Did she say mean things to you? Do I need to tell her her macaroons are appalling or something?"
"No! No. Please no. We just talked about being nice."
"Oops! Right…. Wait. You don't like her do you?"
He blushed and looked away, shrugging.
Chloé gasped, "Nooo! Ughhh, why couldn't you fall in love with someone unattainable? Like Ladybug or somebody."
"Huh?" Adrien crinkled his nose, "What?"
"Nothing~ Fine, fine. We're still best friends forever right though?"
He huffed a smile and nodded, "Yeah, Chloé, best friends forever."
"Pinky swear?" She held out her pinky in front of him and he linked their fingers.
 "Pinky swear."
She let out an exhale of relief, "Okay, make sure to tell your dad I'm the best influence ever now."
Adrien giggled and nodded, "Sure. I'll try."
"Perfect. You promised," She grinned and waltzed over to the bakers and began listing off what was wrong with their goods. Pausing at Marinette, she glanced at Adrien and simply passed her by without a word…. Marinette seemed offended anyway.
Adrien shook his head. Oh, that didn't cause spots in his vision. Good. Satisfied with the conclusion the worst of the battle weariness had passed, he got up to see if Marinette might share some of those cookies. Then, if he had the energy, repair some of Chloé’s emotional damage.

“Your Son deserves better than that Friend of his, Nino.”
This is a draft but you can see my mind plan out how Lila takes action as it bounces from one idea to another. I am sad to say this fic hardly has Lila salt but it does have Adrien salt
Tumblr media
We have seen Lila take action against her love rivals, but she has yet to fulfil her promise about Nino.
Tumblr media
It’s a shame because Nino has been so helpful to Lila yet she looks down on him as you can see in the picture. (She is not putting on the frown for Gabriel’s sake since her back is to him). It is possible Lila is aware of Nino’s actions as the Bubbler and know he and Gabriel have an antagonistic relationship.
So I am taking a look at how Lila took care of her competitiors to see if there is a pattern and whether it will be the same for Nino.
Kagami: sent a photo of her and Adrien to provoke the fencer, suggesting that Adrien has a close female friend, possibly his crush (it is possible Adrien cleared the air with Kagami)
Chloe: removed her idolization of Ladybug which distances her from Adrien since he loves Ladybug (not that they really bonded over Ladybug before)
Marinette: tried to paint her in a bad light and expel her. (Utter failure. Adrien stood up for Marinette and pressured Lila to reverse her actions)
Basically in respect to the above, Lila has crushed hopes, destroyed common ground, and framed someone. I don’t see a pattern so I have to go with that she will try something new.
Why does Lila dislike Nino? Hard to say. But maybe she hates competition of any kind. She wants to be Adrien’s only confidante.
Mmm. Good luck with that, NOT! Adrien has been acting distant with Lila. Friendly, but distant.
It would be great if Lila could replace Nino, but that would be hard. Most of the class is team Adrienette and the girls won’t want to help Lila get alone time with Adrien.
Nino might be persuaded to switch project partners, but after Oniichan, Lila was doubtful Adrien wanted to have anything more to do with her after school, and Alya was sure to have warned Nino to stop setting up study dates for Adrien unless it was with Marinette.
Yeah, Gabriel wanted the Nino influence gone after Party Crasher, but Lila had been working on framing Marinette then.
Now that Marinette had been declared off limits by Adrien himself, Lila had been told to take care of Nino.
Well, the frame up won’t work twice. Even if she got someone else to the do the accusing, Adrien would suspect her involvement. And the idiotic faculty could possibly be more thorough in their investigation after Marinette’s expulsion had been proven unjust.
She could easily distance Nino from Adrien by encouraging Alya to spend more time with her boyfriend. But Marinette would probably take Nino’s place, and that was not what Lila wanted.
The best thing would be to partner with Adrien first thing. That way none of the girls would be needed or could protest the arrangement. But projects were usually deskmate paired or random draws out of a hat. Too risky.
What if she spread word and made Adrien look bad? That’s an idea.
Felix had already shown how quickly the class could turn on Adrien. What was their reasoning again? Oh yes, he’s friends with Chloe, they don’t know him that well. Only Nino and Marinette stood up for him. Two bird, one stone.
Lila can’t get Adrien to miss parties, not when Marinette makes sure he can attend them.
What can she use? Adrien is naive and obtuse to others’ feelings.
As Lila talks to the girls who gush about Adrienette, Lila sighs about how she hopes Marinette won’t get hurt again. After all Adrien asked her to plan a double date with Kagami. Can you imagine how painful it must have been for Marinette? And Marinette actually threw a party for Chloe of all people, just because Adrien was upset Chloe had left for New York. Didn’t Adrien know Marinette and her parents were on the train that Chloe sabotaged so she could make herself look good, but needed help from Ladybug and Chat Noir? Of course, Marinette would not be happy about the reminder about Queen Bee. She could have died in that train accident.
This instilled doubt in the girls about Adrien and their worry for Marinette.
When Chloe keeps on bullying the class, Lila shakes her head and asks Nino why doesn’t Adrien try reasoning with Chloe. Nino points out that Adrien values Chloe since she is his first Friend. Lila frowns and mutters that he didn’t try hard enough. All Chloe had to do was throw a party and all was forgiven. If Adrien didn’t care about how the rest of them felt, he should at least try to care for Chloe’s character.
Later that day, it was known that Nino and Adrien had a major argument. On the outside they were still friends, but were pretty tense.
Marinette tries to make excuses for Adrien but the girls and Nino point out that Adrien also rained on their parade when Chloe was about to leave for New York. Yes, he could be sad that his Friend left, but that shouldn’t mean Marinette had to feel bad either. All she did was point out the flaws in Chloe’s interview (especially since back then Chloe was only in a hero costume and nearly got people killed). The girls encourage Marinette that it is alright to say no to some of Adrien’s requests, especially if they hurt her.
Marinette was still trying to heal the bridge. Chloe was still friends with Adrien.
Lila no longer had total focus on Nino. She wanted to make sure the whole class isolated the model. (To Lila, she doesn’t need Adrien to be popular at school. She needs him to be popular on media.)
Lila manipulated Chloe once more, reminding her that everyone obviously views Ladybug on a higher standard than Queen Bee. Who could compare with Ladybug after all? Oh wait, Marinette could. She would make a great hero.
Chloe asks Adrien if he thinks Queen Bee should return. He disappoints her heavily when he agrees with Ladybug.
Chloe insults all the heroes in front of class, provoking everyone’s ire. Marinette stands up to Chloe and takes care of the matter.
Nino asks how Adrien could still defend Chloe, but his answer is that Chloe is still hurt by the fact that she can’t be a hero anymore.
When Chloe insults Rena Rouge, Nino steps up to defend his Girlfriend.
After school, Nino and Chloe make a spectacle and demand Adrien choose a side. He can’t. This actually makes them leave him until he can.
Marinette rushes over to Adrien but is stopped by the girls. They agree with Nino and Lila. Marinette has to stop making exceptions for Adrien. The girls literally have to drag Marinette away and keep telling her it’s time she accepted Adrien has flaws.
Marinette is forced to accept that truth but her feelings haven’t changed. She contacts Adrien and reminds him she is still on his side.
Nino feels upset about Adrien’s betrayal and is akumatized once again. He gets defeated.
The next day at school, Marinette acts as a bridge between Nino and Adrien. She admits that Adrien has flaws, but so does everyone. Can we blame him for having a soft spot for Chloe? After all he had been through, that should be understandable. Adrien may not be totally reliable to come to events or stopping Chloe, that’s true. Sure he’s clueless about friendships, that’s why they should set an example for him. After all, nobody can deny that Adrien does try, and he really does want to be friends with everybody. “Let’s not force him to choose between friends.”
To Adrien, Marinette accepts his friendship with Chloe but that is as far she will go. This soothes the class as Marinette is also learning to set up limits regarding Adrien.
Nino apologizes to Adrien for forcing him into that position. Adrien also says he is sorry for not trying to correct Chloe’s behavior.
Chloe had been listening and also decides to forgive Adrien because he was also one of her few friends when her Mother had left her behind.
Lila is upset at her failed plan. She complains to Gabriel that they need to take care of Marinette because she keeps fixing things. Gabriel scoffs that at least Marinette shows potential if Lila cannot even best her a second time, irking Lila but not nearly enough to akumatize her.
Adrien thanks Marinette and asks if she wants to go to eat ice cream at Andre’s. Her lecture that Adrien was not reliable reminded him that he skipped their ice cream meet up before on purpose and he felt bad. He wants to make it up to her and treats her to the ice cream

Broken Harmony Pt9
Trigger warning - Massive stupidity present in the follow text :)
Master List 1   Master List 2    Prologue   Beginning   Previous   Next
Marinette stood abruptly, her emotions still in a jumble, but when everyone in the room focused on her she flushed and embarrassment overrode everything else
“I… uhh… bathroom.” She mumbled the words before heading for the hallway.
“Sweetheart?”
“Yes Maman?” She had basically frozen in place.
“You might want to grab some sweats or pajama bottoms from your room first. Trying to deal with the zipper and button on your jeans with one hand will be frustrating.” Damian felt relief spread through her song. Obviously she had been expecting something else.
“Of course. Thank you Maman.” She changed directions to a set of stairs leading to a trap door and disappeared through it. When she came back down, sweats in hand, she didn’t make eye contact with anyone before heading to the bathroom. Tom sighed.
“How did we miss this?”
“Because she’s always come to us when her problems get too big for her to handle and we just assumed she always would.” Sabine was staring at her mug as she answered her husband. “We were also trying to give her space since she seemed so lost after Fu died. I know she blames herself for not saving him. But I thought she’d come to us when she was ready. I didn’t take into account how much stress Hawkmoth is putting on the situation.”
“She was so scared that we would end up Akumatized that she felt it was better to suffer.” They shared a look. “We should have seen that coming. Our baby always puts others first and after what happened to get my mother Akumatized we should have known she would do anything to keep it from happening to us.” Tom’s voice broke on the last word. Bruce opened his mouth to respond but was interrupted by a knock at the door.
Tom frowned, glancing at the clock before walking over a looking through the peephole. His entire body stiffened and he turned back to the table. “It’s Adrien.” His voice rumbled softly, just barely enough to be heard but Sabine scowled and the door like she wanted the blood of whoever was on the other side.
“Who’s Adrien?” Tom blinked at Damian in shock at the question but it was Sabine who answered.
“Adrien’s the one who told you Marinette was overreacting.” Another knock sounded and she sighed in annoyance. “Damian would you go down the hall and wait for Marinette. Don’t let her come back out here until that boy is gone.”
Damian nodded and rose to do as she asked. He walked down the hall just enough that he couldn’t be seen from the door but close enough he could still hear.
“Tom, it’s good to see you!” Damian shared a look with his father who was still at the table. This kid couldn’t be serious.
“Adrien. I’m sorry but Marinette isn’t here right now.” His voice was tense. “Shouldn’t you be in school?”
“I’m actually on the way to a photoshoot but I wanted to stop by and talk to you and Sabine about something first.” Damian was starting to think that calling him an idiot was actually a compliment. His Angel chose that moment to surface from the bathroom and looked confused at his presence. She opened her mouth but she motioned her to stay silent and beckoned her closer so she could hear as well.
“Really, what was it that you wanted to talk about?” The edge in Sabine’s voice was obvious but the boy still seemed not to sense anything wrong.
“Well it’s about Mari. Schools been getting really tense lately.” He saw hope on Marinette’s face for a moment before her expression fell with his next words. “And she’s really not helping at all. I was hoping you could talk to her about it?” The astonishment coming through Marinette’s song was understandable. His was even worse. Did this kid really think her parents were going to help him?
“What exactly seems to be the problem?” Sabine had to be gritting her teeth for her tone to be so strained. While they couldn’t see anything, Damian also had a feeling Tom was just standing there in shock. He hadn’t made a noise since greeting Adrien.
“Well there’s this girl that Mari doesn’t get along with. I’ve told her over and over to take the high road and not make a fuss but she keeps antagonizing her.” He sounded exasperated. “And just today she pretended to get hurt to get everyone to feel sorry for her. It’s getting out of hand.”
Damian had never wanted to murder someone so much in his life. It would be easy. No one would ever be able to trace it back to him, not with his training. A gentle hand touched his arm and Mari’s song thrummed peacefully in his head. She was trying to keep him calm while listening to her parents get closer and closer to full blown rage. Well Sabine anyway. There was no telling how Tom was handling things since they couldn’t see him.
“Why does Marinette have a problem with this girl? It doesn’t seem like her to just dislike someone for no reason.” Her tone held a sickly-sweet quality. The boy was about to walk into a trap and he didn’t even recognize it.
“She just likes to tell stories and exaggerate sometimes. But like I told Mari, her lies don’t hurt anyone so there’s no point calling her out on it. She’ll just get Akumatized over it. It’s best to just leave it be.”
“You’re certain no one’s getting hurt by the lies?”
“Oh yes. Everyone else loves Lila and once she gets enough attention I’m sure she’ll get better, but not if Mari keeps poking at her. I know she wants her friends attention back but Lila needs it more. She’s already been Akumatized five times,” Marinette muttered what sounded like ‘seven actually’ under her breath. “and I know Mari won’t ever have that problem. I’ve seen her turn away an Akuma myself.”
“What!?” Tom finally joined the conversation with the thought going through everyone else's mind. Marinette winced and he felt guilt once again. He also caught his father staring at her in shock.
“Well she was upset, over something little really, and an Akuma came for her but she just took a few deep breaths and it flew away. Everyone else in our class besides me has been Akumatized so right now it’s better if Mari is the only one upset. Of course if she would just do what I told her it wouldn’t be a problem in the first place.”
“Get out.” Damian was certain Sabine’s tone dropped the temperature in the room. He felt a chill and it wasn’t even aimed at him.
“But Sabine…”
“It’s Mrs. Cheng and Mr. Dupain to you and all those other little hoodlums in that class. Now get out and don’t come back. You can tell your friends that they’re not welcome either.”
“But Mari’s the problem! Everything would be fine if she just went along with Lila. Instead she just has to be difficult.”
“My daughter is trying to do the right thing by keeping a liar from influencing her friends and you just want to silence her because she’s making your life difficult!” Tom’s voice boomed through the home. “You were told to leave, so leave. I’m just glad we’re getting her out of that awful school so she doesn’t have to deal with your nonsense anymore.” The door slammed and Damian and Marinette peeked out from the hallway.
Tom still had his hand on the door knobs as if debating opening it so he could go after the boy and Damian was surprised there wasn’t a hole in the door with the way Sabine was glaring at it. Marinette rushed into the room.
“Maman, Papa, please calm down. It’s okay now. Like you said I’m out of that environment now.” Sabine’s glare transferred to her daughter and Mari actually took a step back when she saw it.
“How many times?” His Angel just looked confused at her mother’s words.
“I’m sorry?”
“How many times has an Akuma come after you?”
She paled drastically and began to fidget. She wouldn’t meet anyone’s eyes again. “It’s really not that big a deal. I just calmed down and it wasn’t an issue.”
“How many.”
“Okay, you have to understand that the number sounds worse than it is. The week after Master Fu died, and everything else was just a really bad week for me so really all that should count as one.”
“Marinette.” She flinched and backed into the couch at her mother’s voice. “How many Akuma’s have come after you? How many times has that magical headcase tried to possess my daughter?” She shrunk in on herself again and Damian wanted to end this for her sake as he felt the guilt, despair, and fear bubble up i her song. But he also didn’t want to overstep again and honestly he wanted the answer to. She mumbled something none of them could catch. “What was that?” Marinette took a deep breath before meeting her mother’s gaze.
“Thirty four.”

Nice Guy Adrien the Musical Outline - ACT II
@lenoreofraven
→ The second half of this act from “Meant to Be Yours” to “Breathin” has been adapted into my fic “Bewitched,” for those who want a better idea of how things would play out.
→ In “Bewitched,” Viperion has a hypnosis power, which I refer to as “Snake Eyes” in my other work “The One to Make It Stay.” This was because this was written prior to “Party Crasher” airing, so we didn’t know what the snake’s power would be. I think “Second Chance” could still be used in this scenario, but I’ll leave it vague for the time being.
→ Like I said before, I’m going to write Act II with Marinette being akumatized into Bewitched in mind. Now, it should be possible to akumatize Marinette into something else and have roughly the same outcome, depending on the powers that you give her. Anyway, Bewitched’s outfit is a slightly altered version of this one that NS Yoon G wears in the music video:
Tumblr media
However, I changed the bottom half of the outfit to be more appropriate for a fourteen year old girl, so instead, she’s either wearing a black tulle mini skirt (which would fall just above her knees) or black biker shorts of the same length. Underneath them, she’s wearing black and white striped leggings similar to this outfit:
Tumblr media
As well as black boots and lots of chunky, spiked jewelry, and a black witch’s hat on top. She hides her akumatized object in her blouse pocket. So, yes, her akumatized form is essentially cosplay of NS Yoon G, but toned down for a fourteen year old girl.
Act II opens with the students having returned to school after break (either for All Saints or Christmas, depending on how much time has passed since the beginning of school), and classes in session. Adrien has been none stop trying to text Marinette and get her attention, but to no avail. She has blocked his number by this point, and he’s resorted to contacting her through other social media sites and apps. Despite trying to flaunt his relationship with Lila in Marinette’s face, it seems to have entirely backfired, and at some point, Adrien broke things off with her. Alya continues to play cheerleader for Team Adrinette, but we see signs of wariness from Nino. Bustier’s class is going to discuss Romeo and Juliet, but everyone seems more interested in the status of Ladybug and Chat Noir. A fan sent in a video of Chat confessing his love to Ladybug and sent it in to the Ladyblog, where it was immediately posted. Adrien decides that this is his opportunity to make big romantic gestures to Marinette and win her over. However, Marinette has decided to move seats by this point to keep Adrien away from her, and is now in the back. He doesn’t have as many opportunities to talk to her. As class begins, Ms. Bustier calls for everyone to return to their seats so they can start discussing the reading. Alix makes a comment about how Romeo and Juliet has the lamest, most nonsensical plot she’s ever read. Everyone gasps, clearly offended and asks how she could say something like that. (I Hate Shakespeare)
The school day comes and goes, and once again, we find ourselves at Chloe’s hotel. She is relaxed upstairs, turning her bedroom into a summer simulation of sorts. She’s being waited on by Sabrina and Jean, while complaining about the events of the day (“Ugh, Adrikins has been so weird lately! First, he said he liked Dupain-Cheng, of all people! Then, he decided to date that girl with the sausage hair just to make her jealous. And now he’s pretending it didn’t even happen?” “That discussion we had about the play today was utterly ridiculous!”) To wash away the events of the day, Chloe has ordered a full day of pampering for herself, including a trip to the spa. She’s even nice enough to arrange a package for Sabrina and Jean. After all, she needs them in tip-top shape. (Fabulous)
Gabriel has been noticing an increase in negative energy lately. He thinks it’s his chance to evilize someone into his most powerful akuma yet. Adrien returns home from school in a rather snappy mood, complaining about a girl. This makes Gabriel pause for a moment. He’s a bit worried that his akuma might end up picking the girl that rejected Adrien and going after him. However, he can’t afford to just give up on saving his wife, either. He won’t let anything stand in the way of reuniting with her, not even his own feelings. Surely, Adrien would understand someday. (Standing)
Adrien is frustrated about how things aren’t going his way. He’s messaged Marinette about 273 times in the past week, and hasn’t gotten a single response or reaction from her. He even had to give up on Operation: Jealousy, because it made her less interested in him. How is that even possible, he wonders to himself. Plagg points out that if Adrien continues this behavior, the Master might decide to pull his miraculous away, but Adrien isn’t convinced. How else are they going to defeat Hawkmoth? And speaking of his power, he decides it’s time to pay Marinette a visit. Plagg is against using Chat to get close to Marinette/Ladybug, but he doesn’t listen and uses his freedom and mobility to find her. (Macavity Part 2)
Marinette, tired of the influx of messages and how Adrien won’t leave her alone, decides she can no longer handle being Ladybug. She heads over to Fu’s and lets him know that she can’t afford to be Ladybug, since she’s at such high risk of being akumatized. She’s returned the earrings to Kagami, and told her to meet Fu, because she can’t handle it anymore. Fu tries to convince her otherwise, but Marinette won’t change her mind. Running out of the room in tears, Marinette laments how everything could have gone so wrong. Maybe Lila was right. Maybe she was cursed. What an irony, she thinks to herself. (No Good Deed)
As Marinette is running home, she ends up stopping in front of a store with some mirrors. An image flashes in her head - her as Ladybug. She tries to go for a quick change to get rid of it, and takes out her hair ribbons, stuffing them into her pocket. Before she can get any closer to home, Chat pops in, and after her avoiding him all day. Once again, he proclaims his love for her, reminding her that he’s dumped Lila, so there’s nothing standing in their way now. Then he realizes she’s been crying. Marinette snaps and tells him he’s the problem. There’s back and forth arguing until Kagami appears as Ryukōun, and tells Chat to back off. The two of them get into a fight as Marinette runs off, not sure where to go. Hawkmoth akumatizes her into Bewitched (not shown on stage/screen until next scene) and she promises him that by morning, neither Chat nor Ladybug will be a problem. (Meant to Be Yours)
The next day at school, everyone is gathered outside to share gossip, with quite a few people surrounding Lila as she launches her next story. Adrien quickly finds Nino and Alya and relays what happened the previous evening. Alya assures Adrien that things will turn out alright, but Nino points out his concerns with Adrien’s behavior. Before a full fight can escalate, Bewitched enters the scene and blasts Lila with her curse beam and frightens everyone around her. Bewitched forces Lila to tell the truth, lest she get hurt by her own words. Lila ends up revealing that she and Ladybug were never friends and that the interview she did for Alya when she first arrived was a lie. Bewitched then goes on to curse Alya to always or do the wrong thing, and turns Nino into her familiar. As the scene goes on, more and more students get either cursed or familiarized (Nino and Juleka are absolutely spared; Nino because he defended Marinette’s honor and Juleka because Bewitched doesn’t want to upset Luka). Adrien, Kagami, Felix and Chloe all manage to escape prior to getting hit by Bewitched. (Reason to Become a Witch)
Managing to get far away enough from Bewitched, both Kagami and Felix berate Adrien for his actions. If he just left Marinette alone after the rejection, things wouldn’t have turned out like this. Kagami points out that he doesn’t deserve the ring, completely outing Adrien as Chat Noir. Luka arrives on the scene and is caught up by everyone. He is not pleased and calls Adrien out for being so selfish. He’s even less pleased when it’s revealed that Adrien only became interested in Marinette after it was revealed that she was Ladybug. Before the fighting can escalate, Kagami decides to split up the group. She gives the snake miraculous to Luka and Felix, telling them to go after Bewitched, while she and Adrien go and give Chloe the bee. (Congratulations)
Kagami and Adrien arrive to give Chloe the bee. However, a bit of arguing causes the cat to be let out of the bag, and now Chloe is in on the secret identities (both Ladybug and Chat). She is infuriated by Adrien and how ugly his attitude has gotten. And disappointed in herself after realizing that doing nothing didn’t stop any akuma victims. That was the wrong thing to do in this case, she realizes. Instead, she needs to work on standing up to people like that and use the power that she has to her advantage. She’s going to be the hero that Ladybug, no, Dupain-Cheng, believed she could be. (Ugly Heart)
Luka and Felix run into Bewitched. Felix saves Luka from getting hit, but becomes a familiar. Queen Bee, Ryukōun and Chat Noir arrive on the scene, but Chat’s ego quickly causes him to lose the cat miraculous to Felix after Bewitched turns Queen Bee’s power against them. Luka transforms into Viperion while Alya arrives on the scene to apologize. Satisfied, Bewitched familiarizes her. Using his power, Viperion is able to calm down Bewitched and convince her to give up the akuma. After Kagami purifies it, she, Luka and Felix all take Marinette home. After the long day, Marinette tries to find ways to make herself fall asleep, but the events of the day weigh heavy on her mind, and she’s anxious as to what comes next. (Breathin)

ML: Are They Worthy? Chapter 24: The Person I Want To Be!
After Adrien finished watching Vlad’s interview, he left his room. He was nervous, but he knocked on the door to his father’s office. “Come in Adrien” he said. Adrien walked in. “I had a feeling you would wait until Mr. Brodeur’s interview was over before you wanted to talk.”
“When will you start calling him Vlad?” Adrien asked.
“When the first thing I think about regarding him isn’t him vulgarly insinuating something” Gabriel said.
“Well, to be fair, I told him that that’s what I thought was going on” Adrien said. “But I get your point.” The two Agreste men took their seats.
“So, is there something particular on your mind?” Gabriel asked.
Adrien was nervous. “Yes. Father, I thank you for giving me more freedom, but I still feel caged somewhat.”
“I’m not ready to cancel anything” Gabriel said.
“No, it’s nothing like that” Adrien said, defensively. “I just want to act like myself more around my friends.”
“What are you talking about? You’re the perfect gentleman” Gabriel asked.
“I agree, that is a part of me,” Adrien began, “but there’s more to me than that. There’s the fun side of me. The nonsensical. I appreciate jokes, and wordplay. I might appear clueless at times.” Adrien looked down. “I’m afraid of not being perfect in your eyes. I maintain a perfect persona in your eyes so you don’t take me away from my friends.”
“Adrien, you don’t have to be perfect.”
“You yelled at me for sleeping on the floor!” Gabriel was stunned. He didn’t know he meant that kind of imperfection. “I’m afraid of being alone. But if I keep this perfect persona up, I’m afraid I’ll be left alone again when something slips, or I make a mistake. They’ll seem that I’m not flawless, and they’ll leave me.”
“Adrien…” Gabriel said. He knew he was overbearing. He knew he didn’t let him out much. He knew that he gave him a lot of extracurricular activities. But he never thought he was wearing Adrien down like this. “Sometimes, you take after your mother so much, it hurts.”
Adrien was confused. “What does that mean, father?”
“Years ago, when we started dating, she tripped on her dress coming to dinner. She was OK physically, but she was so emotionally distraught, she hid in her room. I went up to talk to her. She was upset because she thought my perception of her was shattered. I told her it was anything but.” Gabriel smiled. “I still remember that night fondly. I told your mother that she was perfect in every way. Even in her imperfections. That night, the meal we had planned to eat was donated to a local shelter. Your mother wanted to eat like a commoner, so we ordered a pizza. We spent the rest of the night eating it and talking in her room.” Gabriel smiled. That night was magical for him.
“Adrien, do you know why I ask you not to do certain things?” he asked. Adrien shook his head no. “Growing up, I faced hardship after hardship. I didn’t grow up rich like your mother did. So, when we had you, I wanted to protect you from some of the things I went through.”
Adrien smiled. He knew his father on a level he didn’t before. “I understand father. But sometimes I want to face some of those dangers.”
“I just don’t want to lose you too” Gabriel said. “But I understand as well. Your mother liked facing some of those dangers as well. Of course, if you get into any serious danger, I want you to run away, OK?”
“Of course father” Adrin said.
“So tell me, what brought this on so suddenly?” Gabriel asked.
Adrien blushed. “Well, I’ve been thinking. See, there’s this girl I think I like-”
“Say no more” Gabriel said, putting his hand up.  He smiled. “I understand. Love can make you do all sorts of things.”
Adrien was stunned. “Well, you see, I don’t know if I LOVE her yet. But I was thinking that if I did, I wouldn't want to disappoint her, and-”
“Enough” Gabriel said. “You don’t need to explain yourself to me.”
“Thanks father” Adrien said. “I know your busy, and it’s getting late. I’m going to go back to my room.” He left.
Gabriel sat there long after Adrien had left. He had not thought about that night in a long time. It was just him and Emilie. A young designer and a young actress just being themselves.. He started crying. “Soon…” he said. He then got out his phone. “Hello, Papa Leone's? I’d like to place an order for delivery.”
The next day at school, Adrien was about enter school, when he saw something on the cylindrical poster board thing that caught his attention and grabbed a picture.
Meanwhile, Vlad was entering with his father. Marinette looked at the door and called out “Vlad!” she yelled. She ran up to him.
“Dad, is it OK if I talk to my friend in private?” Vlad asked.
“Of course son” Conrad said. “I think I can find the principal's office from here.” He walked off.
“Who was that?” Marinette asked.
“My dad” Vlad answered.
“Oh. What’s he doing here?” Marinette asked again.
“You’ll see soon enough” Vlad said. “Shall we go someplace more private?”
“Of course” Marinette said. The two of them walked off.
They found a private spot. “Oh hey, does Beyyo need to be here for this?”
“Well, I’d like him to be” Marinette said, Tikki popping out.
“I guess we’ll just do that later” Beyyo said, also popping out.
“So, what’s this about?” Vlad asked.
“Well, we’ve talked with Master Fu,” Marinette said, “and he wants us to strengthen our hand.”
“What did he have in mind?” Vlad asked.
“Well, he said her had a few ideas, but he only told us one of them” TIkki said.
“And that would be?” Beyyo asked.
Marinette took out the two miraculouses. “We agreed to give these to Alya and Nino full time.”
“Oh” Vlad said. He was surprised.
“I’ll talk to them later today as Ladybug” Marinette said. “I just wanted to run that by you. I also wanted to run it by Cat Noir, but you are easier to get into contact with.”
“No worries” Vlad said. “I’ll talk to Cat Noir. After all, he knows who I am now.”
“Wait, WHAT?! Since when?” Marinette asked.
“Since Rhythm Robber” Beyyo interjected.
“It’s alright. He only knows who I am” Vlad said. “I haven’t told him about you.”
“Are you going to?” Tikki asked.
“When the time is right” Vlad replied.
Tikki and Marinette were concerned, but they thought to ask him about that later. “Um, there’s something else” Marinette said. “See, there’s someone else I want to give a miraculous full time to, but…”
“Who is it?” Vlad asked.
“So, a little while ago, I lost a miraculous. On accident! I didn’t mean to lose it” Marinette said, trying to defend herself. “It somehow ended up in Chloe’s hands, and when she first used it, she revealed to everyone who she was, and ended up Akumatized. However, a few times since then, we have used Chloe to help us. But then we figured since everyone knew who she was, Hawk Moth might try to use that against her. On Saturday though, I learned that Hawk Moth was targeting Chloe specifically, with or without her miraculous. Like he did with Lila. I figured that if she had it, she could at least defend herself.”
“I see” Vlad said. “In that case, why not give Lila a miraculous as well?”
“WHAT?!” Marinette said. “I mean, well, Hawk Moth said he would be avoiding Lila for the time being. Plus, Chloe is starting to change. I trust her a little bit. At least, more than Lila. And she has fought off being Akumatized twice. I think Chloe could handle it. But…”
“You want me to test her” Vlad said.
“Right” Marinette said.
“No sweat, Marinette” Vlad said. “I can handle that.”
“Thanks” Marinette said.
Adrien then saw Vlad and Marinette. “VLAD! MARINETTE!” he said, rushing towards them.
“What is it, Adrien?” Marinette asked.
“Whatever it is, you can tell me later” Vlad said. “I’ve got some business to attend to.”
“Oh right. I saw your dad was here” Adrien said. “Well, I’ll tell you later then.”
“Seeya” Vlad said, leaving. He walked down the hall, when he spotted Max and Markov. “Right on cue.”
“Ah-HA!” Markov said, spotting Vlad. “There he is.” Markov flew to meet Vlad, with Max not far behind.
“Hey Max. Markov. Something you want to tell me?” Vlad asked.
“Of course there is!” Markov said. “Are you by chance Judgement Wolf?”
“Are you asking, or…?” Vlad said.
“What? No! You are Judgment Wolf!” Markov responded.
“I see. What makes you so sure?” Vlad asked.
“Well, I don’t have any physical evidence,” Markov began, “but I can tell in my heart of hearts, it is you.”
Vlad smiled. “Well Beyyo, what do you think? Am I Judgement Wolf?”
“No way” Beyyo said, popping up. “There’s no way I would give the wolf miraculous to someone as dumb as you.”
Markov was perplexed. “You’re saying no, but the evidence suggests yes.”
“I’m just messing with you, Markov” Vlad said.
“Oh” Markov said. He laughed. “Very funny.”
“So, you’re really Judgement Wolf?” Max asked.
“That’s right” Vlad said.
“By the way Max, I approve of you as well” Beyyo said.
“Oh. Thank you, uh, Beyyo, was it?” Max said.
“Yes” Beyyo said.
“Remember. Not a word to anybody, OK?” Vlad said.
“Of course Vlad!” Markov said. The students went to class.
“Now, before we get started, we have a special announcement from Conrad Brodeur, Vlad’s father” Miss Bustier said.
“Thank you, Miss Bustier” Conrad said. “As you know, Paris Pride is coming up soon. A week after the art exhibition, I believe. I’m on the committee for the event, and I’m here today to help spread the word, and get volunteers. If you don’t have the time, that’s fine. If you do, just talk to my son Vlad, and he will give you all the necessary information. If you also want to walk in the parade, you can ask Vlad about that as well.”
The class clapped. “Thank you, Mr. Brodeur” Miss Bustier said. Conrad left to go tell the rest of the school. “Alright, now, let’s begin.”
“WAIT!” Chloe said, raising her hand. She then shrunk her presence after everyone was looking at her. “I have an announcement I want to make too.”
“Um, OK Chloe. But make it quick” Miss Bustier said.
Chloe stood up in front of the class. She was nervous. All eyes were on her, but not in the way she liked. “As you know, I can be selfish, vicious, and mean at times…” she began. “However, after recent events, I’ve decided I wanted to change. I no longer want to be that person. I have come to hate the animosity from all of you. I want to try. Try and be friends with all of you. And that’s why…I’m sorry.” The entire class gasped.
“Well, thank you Chloe” Miss Bustier said. The entire classed talked amongst themselves.
“I wasn’t expecting that out of Chloe” Alya said.
“I know. It seems weird” Nino said.
“It’s OK” Adrien said. “This is the Chloe I knew once upon a time. I’m glad she’s getting back to that.” Marinette was processing a lot. Had their talk really impacted her that much? She then saw Adrien smiling, and was glad that he could smile because of Chloe. Maybe she can also learn to smile like that for her.
Vlad smiled, figuring out how to test Chloe. He asked Lila “So, when are you going to do that?”
Lila scoffed. “I’ll have you know, I’m starting to make friends for real.”
“Really?” Vlad asked.
“Yes” Lila said. She thought about everything she had done after the Art Vader incident. “I’ve hung out with Max and Markov. I apologized to Alix, and we’ve hung out, along with Kim and Ondine, who I also apologized to. I’ve even agreed to listen and give some thoughts on Kitty Section’s newest song. It’s weird. I was only making friends to make friends, but they’ve opened up new possibilities for me.”
“Sounds delightful” Vlad said. Vlad was going to check on all of that.
During free period, Vlad took Adrien aside. “So, what Chloe did this morning. What’d you think?” Adrien said, nervously.
“I thought it was something else” Vlad said. “Actually, that’s part of the reason I wanted to talk to you.”
“Do I need to be here again?” Beyyo saked. “I can smell Plagg from here.”
“Hey!” Plagg said.
“No,it’s fine” Vlad said. “You can talk to Tigress now, if you want.”
“Good. I’m outta here” Beyyo said, leaving.
“So, what’s this about?” Adrien asked.
“Well, I talked with Ladybug earlier” Vlad began. “She told me that Master Fu has some plans to strengthen us against Hawk Moth. One of those is giving Rena Rouge and Carapace their miraculous full time.”
“Woah, really?!” Adrien said.
“Yup. But that’s not all” Vlad said.
Beyyo caught Juleka alone. He appeared in front of her. “Woah!” she said. “Who are you?”
“I am Judgement Wolf’s kwami, Beyyo” he said.
“Cool” Juleka said.
“Anyway, I wanted to inform you that I too agree to you having access to a miraculous” Beyyo said.
“Oh. Cool” Juleka said. “Is that all?”
“Yes. I’m afraid I have to get back to Judgement Wolf now.”
“OK. I’ll tell Roaar you said ‘hi’ the next time I see him” Juleka said.
“Thank you” Beyyo said, leaving. Juleka blushed ecstatically.
Meanwhile, Alya and Nino were just outside of the school by themselves. “Ahem” a voice said, The couple looked up and saw Ladybug. They were about to speak, but Ladybug shushed them. “I’m here on a top secret assignment. Not a word, OK?” The two nodded their heads. “OK. Alya Cesaire. Nino Lahiffe. These are the miraculous of the fox and the turtle.”
“Is there another Akuma attack? I haven’t seen anything yet” Alya said.
Ladybug shook her head. “These are yours to keep.”
“Oh. OH” Alya said.
“For real, Ladybug?” Nino asked.
“Yes. Of course, you don’t need to appear every time an Akuma attacks” Ladybug said. “But since you are two of the most experienced heroes, aside from Cat Noir and myself, we agreed that you should keep them full time. At least, while Hawk Moth is still at large. Can I trust you?”
Alya and Nino looked at the boxes. “We understand Ladybug” Alya said.
“Of course we will help whenever we can”Nino said.
“Great. Thank you” Ladybug said. She left.
“You’re planning on testing Chloe?” Adrien said.
“Yes” Vlad said. “Ladybug is worried about how Hawk Moth is targeting her. As this morning proved, Chloe seems more ready and willing to change than ever. I just hope she’s more than just talk.”
“I hope so too” Adrien said.
Beyyo returned to Vlad. “Well, we should be getting to class.”
“Hey wait” Adrien said. “Meet me and Marinette after school today. I found something cool this morning.”
“OK” Vlad said.
School ended for the day, and Adrien looked at Marinette and they both nodded. “Max!” Marinette said, waving him down.
Max and Markov met Marinette. Vlad saw this and joined them. “What is it, Marinette?” Max asked.
“Well, Adrien found something this morning, and we thought you’d like to participate.”
Adrien noticed that Nino and Alya were leaving. “Nino. Alya. Where are you going?”
“Uh, I promised to take Alya somewhere this afternoon” Nino said. “Just fill me in later.”
“Of course” Adrien said.
“What is it?” Max asked.
Adrien got out his phone and showed them the picture he took. “The Paris Nighthawks are hosting an exhibition match against anyone willing to challenge them in Ultimate Mecha Strike III this Friday. I was thinking we could make a little team and challenge them.” Max was surprised.
“What’s wrong Max?” Marinette asked.
Kim was talking to Lila, when he noticed what was on Adrien’s phone. He rushed over to Max and asked “Max, are you alright?”
Max sighed. “I’m more than alright” Max said, looking confident. “I’m ready!”
“Ready for what?” Adrien said.
“Well, I used to be a part of the Nighthawks. But they kicked me out” Max said.
“For what?” Marinette asked.
Max was hesitant. “For helping me,” Kim said. Marinette and Adrien were shocked. “Not only did they kick Max out, but they also blacklisted Max from getting a tech job in Paris.”
Marinette and Adrien looked down. “It’s OK. You didn’t know” Max said. “But now, I feel ready. I’m going to demand that Carter gets me un-blacklisted once we win.” The little group celebrated. “Now, how about we go someplace and practice?”
“My place is good” Adrien said. “I probably have the most high-tech equipment, so it’ll be like their set-up I bet.”
“That’s perfect, because Marinette also has to begin work on her outfits for the exhibition” Vlad said, surprising Marinette. “Which, speaking of, did you talk to Mr. Chastain today, Max?”
“No” Max said “But I can do it now.”
“I’ll come with you” Vlad said. The two of them left.
Marinette was now worried. She had to focus on two things at once. “It’s OK Marinette” Adrien said. “You recently double-perfected the true final boss. You should be ready.”
“Thanks Adrien” Marinette said nervously. “Still, we’re going up against professionals.”
“It’s OK” Adrien said. “You’re not alone on this. Now, you spend as much time as you need today, working on the outfits. You can come and check on us whenever you want, and do a few practice rounds as well. As long as you’re in my house, I want you to feel comfortable.”
Marinette looked up at Adrien and smiled. “Thank you.” She said. Adrin thought about this, and the story his father told him last night. He thought about how his father said he takes after his mother. Thinking about what just happened, he realized he was a lot like his father as well. Cheering up someone who needed it. He also thought about Chloe and the speech she gave this morning. Hopefully soon, father will be ready to change as well.
“We’re almost there” Wayzz said, leading Nino and Alya.
“You’re going to like Master a lot” Trixx said.
Alya and Nino walked into Master Fu’s place. “Hello Rena Rouge. Carapace” Master Fu said.

Salty Marinette Magic AU: Part 2
(Canon divergent Chameleon Magic AU)
Alya walks into the classroom, settling down in her old seat, with a heavy thunk. Her eyes are red, and she knows it. She messed up big time, and she doesn’t know if she can fix it.
“Hey, babe. What’s wrong?” Nino settles down next to her and rubs her back calmingly.
She just shakes her head, running a hand through her hair, “I-I called Marinette last night.”
“Marinette? Is she doing okay? When’s she coming back to school?” Adrien immediately twirls around in his seat, looking at Alya with big eyes.
Alya chokes back another sob, “She’s not coming back to school. She said I’m not her best friend anymore, and that she only has one friend left at this school. This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have made her feel so excluded.”
“Woah, woah. It’s okay. I’m sure this is just a little disagreement, Alya.” Nino wraps one arm around her, reaching over to wipe away her tears, “She can’t possibly stay away from school. Her parents can’t homeschool her.”
“She switched schools, Nino, and she won’t tell me what school she switched to.” Alya starts crying in earnest again, “This is all my fault. I should have been a better friend. I should have gone after her, after the cafeteria incident. She said she almost got akumatized, and now she won’t pick up, no matter what phone I use to call her.”
Adrien’s leans against the back of his chair, his eyebrows furrowing, “Why would she switch schools, and what school would even let her transfer over this late in the year, that’s close enough to her house?”
“What are you guys talking about?” Lila sets down her bag on the table, sliding into her seat.
“Marinette switched schools.” Nino turns to Lila, still rubbing Alya’s back.
“I don’t know, Adrien. She said she didn’t have any friends left here, aside from Marc. I know she can be stubborn sometimes, so I thought she’d be right back in school after she’d calmed down, but she already told Prof. Bustier about her transfer, and she only answered the phone, because she thought I was someone named Rebel.” Alya slumps against the desk, looking defeated, “I should have noticed she was so upset and lonely. What kind of a useless best friend am I?”
“You’re not a useless best friend. She made her decision, and didn’t include you in it.” Lila points out, leaning back against her seat.
Adrien pinches the bridge of his nose, “You are kind of right, Lila, but Marinette was hurting when she made her decision. We need to talk to her. Have you tried her house?”
“Yes. Her parents won’t let me in. Mme. Cheng even banned me from the bakery until this blows over.” Alya rubs her eyes, glaring at the table, “And Marinette won’t tell me her new school, so I can’t ambush her there.”
“Why don’t we leave her alone? She seems to want her space.” Lila crosses her arms.
“It’s not like we have a choice.” Alya presses her face into the table, earning a couple of worried looks from the students filtering into the classroom, “She’s not answering any phone I’ve tried, and I tried a library phone, and we don’t know her school, and we can’t talk to her at home.”
“We can’t give up that easy.” Adrien gives Alya a determined look, “Marinette is our friend, and we can’t leave her upset.”
“Well, what do you think we should do? I’ve tried everything I can think of.” Alya looks up from her arms, tears pooling in her eyes again.
“Well, first we look at all the schools she could have possibly transferred over to and narrow them down.” Adrien gets out his tablet, turning to work on it, “And then we go talk to her.”
Alya opens her mouth to say something, before Prof. Bustier gets class started.
---
Adrien may have lied to Alya about his exact plan to find out Marinette’s new school, but it’s not like he can actually tell her.
Chat Noir lands on Marinette’s balcony railing, waiting for her to come out, like she usually does on his patrol night.
Right on cue, Marinette climbs out onto her balcony and positively beams at him, “What’s up, kitty cat?”
He feels a fond rumble start up in his chest. Man he missed her this week, “Nothing much, Purrincess. How has your week been?”
Marinette sighs softly, leaning against the railing next to him, “It’s been a mess, honestly. I’m glad to see you, though. Those akumas you fought this week seemed pretty fierce.”
“That they were.” Chat Noir kicks out his feet to sit on his behind, before tilting his head at her,  “You wanna talk about your mess of a week? I’m all ears.”
He wiggles his ears a little, earning a laugh in return. Marinette leans her arms on the railing, “Well, it’s a little complicated, but I switched schools. Honestly, it’s been a long time coming. For all my old classmates said they liked me, they really didn’t treat me like it, and I was always apologizing to everyone for something, even if I shouldn’t have had to apologize. It’s the best decision I’ve made yet, though. I love my new school. I was going to be going there after graduation from lycée anyway, but I don’t regret transferring early. I’ve got a couple of my childhood friends there. The class is very close, but Rebel talks about me enough, so I fit right in.”
“I’m glad you like it so much.” Chat’s aura holds a bit of sadness, something Marinette’s gotten much better at reading, since switching schools. His tail swishes behind him, “Is it a private school, or something? I’ve never heard of a school that goes beyond lycée, without being a university.”
Marinette watches him carefully, “I go to Suerste École. If you don’t know what that means, then you won’t understand exactly what it is.”
Chat blinks in surprise, crossing his legs and clasping his hands together, “I’ve heard my mom mention it before. I think she wanted me to go there, before things happened.”
Marinette positively lights up, her eyes seeming to turn a deep violet, “I knew it! You’ve got to be a magic! I’m guessing altered magic. I’m a creative magic.”
Chat nearly falls off the balcony, only righting himself with his tail and one leg. He climbs back over the railing and gives her his full attention, “Magic? Why are you talking about magic?”
Marinette chuckles at that, wiggling in her spot a little, “Suerste is a magic school, the only one in Paris too. If your mom wanted you to go there, or even mentioned it to you, then you must be a magic, which means I can tell you about magic! It’s such a pain having to hide my magic from everyone outside of the magic arrondissements, and it’s even more difficult, when I’m trying to explain how I know certain things to non-magics.”
“Wait, wait, slow down please. I’m still stuck on people other than those carrying magic jewels having magic. What do you mean you have magic, and there are others with magic?” Chat Noir’s eyes are the size of saucers, making Marinette reach forward to scratch behind his ears, her eyes gaining a fond light.
“Yes. There’s a bunch of us with magic. We’ve got a full three magic oriented arrondissements, and Bois de Vincennes, all of which are a lot bigger than non-magics will be able to notice. The transportation is a lot different outside of the main streets that non-magics travel through, making them see nothing out of their usual.” Marinette moves her hand away from Chat Noir, before smiling brightly and manifesting a ribbon, that winds around her hand, “See, I’m a creative magic. Prof. Inire says I’m one of the strongest creative magics she’s seen in a while, aside from Nash, who’s already a full creative magic. I’m on my way to being a full creative magic. I’m sure if you had a training course, then you’d be some kind of altering magic. Are you into the way things work and what goes into them?”
“Very.” Chat Noir watches the ribbon, before reaching out and batting at it, “Wow, It’s real. How did you do that?”
“I pulled my own energy and magic to manifest it.” Marinette moves the ribbon around in front of him, watching him track it with his eyes, like a real cat, “My magic’s been getting stronger ever since I switched schools, and I’m actually really satisfied with it. Rebel’s convinced me to join her aerial manifestation and dance team, and I’m pretty confident in my skills now. Competitions are in March, in the Chandier Building, on Soliel and Wane, a little into arrondissement thirteen, if you wanna come watch. Just go into almost any shop in that arrondissement on the twelfth of March, and ask for directions to the aerial manifestation competitions. I’ll be Seamstress. I’m in a group with my friends and I’m so excited for it. I haven’t had time for competitions, since the first year I had magic strong enough to perform.”
“I’ll put it on my calendar.” Chat Noir runs a hand through his hair, looking at her face again, “Is there going to be a big crowd?”
“Yep. It’s a very popular performance sport in the magic community.”
“Could you tell me more about the magic community, and magic in general?” Chat Noir clasps his hands together nervously, “My mom never told me anything about it.”
“I’d be more than happy to. Let me go get snacks. I’ll be right back up.” Marinette grins at him, before climbing down into her trap door.

What’s up I woke up and immediately sprang into writing this salty ass post over why Marinette’s and Adrien’s emotions are treated differently and why y’all should Stop attacking one of them to defend the other.
Y’all know that just because it’s unfair that Marinette hasn’t been allowed to express her feelings over Chloe ruining her gift for Mme. Bustier doesn’t mean you have to attack Adrien for being allowed to get upset over things he has every right to be upset about, right?
Like yeah it sucks that Marinette is Always expected to be the better person, but she herself understands that as a hero like her- who is the only one we know of able to cleanse akumas- she has to be held to a higher standard. That’s why she apologizes. It’s why Mme. Bustier tried to make her see Chloe in another way. Marinette almost got akumatized over being upset. I agree she should’ve been able to express how she felt properly, but when you have this threat of being turned against everything you love- against the guardian of the miraculous stones himself- feeling upset is a luxury she can’t always afford.
And she knows that. More now than ever, she knows she has to watch and keep a handle on her own emotions.
She’s let them get in the way before- she didn’t believe Chloe about Sabrina’s akumatized item, she snapped at Lila. Was she responsible for those two getting akumatized? No, that’s all on Hawk Moth. But did she end up upsetting them? Yes.
That’s why she apologizes in both cases. Because she’s learning to be the hero she needs to be- the hero that Paris needs. That has sacrifices that come with it.
Now, onto Adrien.
I’ve seen multiple people attack him after the most recent episode because he was upset.
Let’s start with Glaciator.
When Adrien was upset in Glaciator, it wasn’t Ladybug’s fault. Adrien has a father who flakes out on him all the time, one who can’t even take a few minutes out of the day to come to the school to judge his own hat competition, or come in for parent day.
He’s not in the best home situation, and a lot of the times we see him in his house, he’s only there for a moment before running away as Chat Noir, otherwise he’s usually pretty sad and lonely.
So he set up this little romantic hangout session with Ladybug, and despite knowing she probably wouldn’t show up, he couldn’t help but hope she would anyways. He wanted to believe he was important enough to her that she would come.
And she didn’t. So he got upset over it. Like I said, it wasn’t Ladybug’s fault, but you absolutely have to think about where Adrien is in life and how he’s treated at home for this sort of thing, because it’s a large reason why he got upset. He was upset when his father didn’t show up to parent day, but as Adrien, he’s typically more reserved around other people- and his class was right there, in the room he was outside of. And when Plagg’s little problem came up, he didn’t have time to linger on it.
But as Chat Noir, where he has more freedoms to feel however he wants to, he acted a little childish. But, like, he’s 14. He is a child. He’s allowed to be childish. He literally doesn’t know how to deal well with emotions like these because they’re something he feels all the time- just directed at someone else. Not to mention he’s in love with her- which isn’t an excuse, but it should be taken into account too. He’s been trying to let her know it since dark cupid at least. I imagine it would get frustrating for his plans to tell her to fail over and over again.
(And then, she tells him they should pretend to be in love. Ouch lol)
And i know a lot of people got upset over his apology, but again, he doesn’t know how to properly deal with that sort of thing. He’s barely allowed to hang out with friends or go outside at all. Until going to school, he had one friend. So even if he had his parents at home- we have no clue if they were around often, but even then, his parents, plus Chloe, plus Nathalie and the Gorilla? That’s a total of 5 people. Add in photographers, that’s a few more, but they were there for strictly business- they haven’t been shown to care about Adrien beyond getting pictures.
You cannot expect a person like him to know how to act properly in that situation based on what we do know of the people he interacted with prior to school. THAT is unfair.
Y’all get mad over Ladybug for apologizing to him first, too, but that’s just extremely in character for her. She realizes, despite having told him she wouldn’t show up, she still hurt him. And maybe it wasn’t very reasonable that he still expected her to come, but what matters to her is that one of her best friends is hurting. Chat Noir realizes immediately after her apology that he’s being unfair, and apologizes in return.
(And even if Chat Noir doesn’t know it, Marinette’s plans with her friends did end early enough for her to go hang out with him, she just happened to forget on account of her own heartache, which is understandable.)
And now onto Syren.
Chat Noir is being kept in the dark about something incredibly important and relevant to both heroes. Anyone would be upset if their partner- their supposed equal- is keeping such pertinent information from them.
Now, again, this isn’t Ladybug’s fault- she only found out about the guardian because of the grimoire and Tikki realizing it to be something he needed to see. It wasn’t like she chose to found out. And it was shown she wanted Chat Noir to know- that it was hard to keep the secrets from him, someone she trusts unquestionably.
Chat Noir wasn’t rude to her, he was honest about his feelings, and she acknowledged that. It was obvious she didn’t want to keep secrets, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less that she was.
What if, like what almost happened in Zombizou, Marinette got akumatized? What’s Chat Noir supposed to do, wait forever for Ladybug only for her not to come? Wait for the guardian who he didn’t even know existed until this last episode? What if the akuma would get to him first? Chat Noir would be alone, no backup, no anything. (Honestly the fact Marinette knows the guardian and Chat doesn’t was another reason why Marinette has to be more in control of her emotions.)
So he was upset, and rightfully so. We have no idea if it’s possible to even try akumatizing someone already transformed- each time Adrien’s been upset, an akuma already exists, it’s a normal happenstance, or he’s Chat Noir. Some of those may overlap. There may also be a reason there with Hawk Moth being his father, and him not wanting to akumatize his own son- we’re not sure on that yet.
Basically, both should be allowed to be upset, but with the situations they’re in, it makes sense that Marinette has to sacrifice that somewhat. It’s not fair, but it make sense. And Adrien shouldn’t be thrown under the bus for not having to sacrifice that quite as much. (Hell, he’s probably not even sure if he himself can get akumatized. Marinette at least knows it now- and she was pretty shaken up over seeing it come for her- but it didn’t show her telling him at all.)
tl;dr: Stop attacking Adrien when you try to defend Marinette, and vice versa. Life isn’t fair, and the same applies to these characters. They’re both their own people and will obviously be held to different standards and have different responsibilities.
