there are two types of children who come out of abusive homes. Sirius and Regulus are them, that’s why they are always at odds.
Sirius knows how precious sleep is, he can sleep anywhere anytime at the drop of a hat
Regulus can’t let himself sleep. Even safe and alone he feels so uncomfortable and can’t sleep until his eyes droop and he can’t fight anymore
Sirius’ rage turns hot and passionate, an angry fire blazing
Regulus’ rage turns cold and calculate, concentrated into fine points of cruelty
Sirius feels everything all too much, consuming all of him until he cannot feel himself anymore
Regulus feels so little that he cannot navigate his own emotions, and when he feels something strong it consumes every part of him
Sirius begs for contact and touch with everyone he knows, to confirm they are there, and to soothe him
Regulus’ skin pricks when he is touched, no matter how much he loves them. He can’t handle close proximity
Sirius hides his pain with a smile
Regulus hides behind dead eyes
and yet they are still, two scared and traumatised boys, hiding.
they hid in that house, and they hide now, with the people they love most.
because that’s the Black brothers. they hide.
because they don’t know how to be found.
but they’re begging
they are begging to be found.

Secret Boyfriend | R.B
Paring: Regulus Black X Lupin!Fem!Reader
Summary: Keeping secrets seem to run in the Lupin family but one of the two twins has a bigger secret than the other can imagine.
Pitter-patter could be heard inside the Gryffindor Common room. The Scotland weather never really seemed to make up its mind during the period between winter and spring. Nevertheless, it brought a calming atmosphere to the red and gold common room. The five Marauders sat in front of the fireplace, speaking to one another. Remus, Y/n, and Sirius sitting together on a couch. James on an armchair, and Peter sitting on the ground in front of the sofa.
“So, Little Lupin.“ James drawled, “When are you getting a boyfriend?”
Remus chuckled, quickly putting an arm around his twin sister, “Hopefully, never.”
“Maybe I already have a boyfriend, and you lot just don’t know.” Y/n snipped as she elbowed her brother in the ribs slightly, “Oh, come on, paws!” James exclaimed teasingly.

Golden, especially the Remus/Regulus part<3
regulus w/marauders headcanon please??
i loved writing this so much
regulus/james: soulmates. actual fucking soulmates. before they got together the teachers would gossip about them and placed bets on when they would get together, and then they would place bets on how sirius was going to react when he found out. one day madame pomfrey walks into the teachers' lounge demanding everyone's money because james did end up in the infirmary with a concussion. the day of their wedding james cries when he sees reg and can't stop crying all throughout the ceremony. when harry is born james passes out because he didn't expect it to be so bloody and thank the gods reg didn't have his wand on him (but he does have a terriffying grasp on wandless magic and james suffers the consequences). james exists with the sole purpose of orbiting around regulus, and it may not look like it, but regulus would step into a volcano for his husband without a second thought
regulus/remus: old married couple energy. they connect over their dumbass boyfriends/husbands, drink wine and talk about the new legislation that got passed in the wizengamot while sirius and james duct tape peter to the kitchen ceiling to see if it can support his weight (it can't). they go on friendly dates together all the time. after the full moons regulus always visits remus and distracts him by telling him all the gossip he's being hearing since he's become an animagus (a cat, specifically). remus is very protective of reggie and worries a lot about him in that year when the marauders have graduated and reg is still in hogwarts. sends him parcels with chocolate and muggle gossip magazines, and in return he receives treacle tarts and books they exchange back and forth until they are covered in annotations
regulus/sirius: messy siblings who fight all. the. time. james would see them talking about transfigurations while walking along the lakeshore, and the next moment they would be trying to drown each other with their bare hands. but if you dare mess with one of them, the other will retaliate with no hesitation. sirius is fiercely protective of reg out loud, but even though reg is a lot more quiet about it, he would crucio dumbledore himself if he dared wrong his brother. sirius doesn't leave home until he graduates, and of course he drags regulus with him. they love to explore muggle london by themselves and even though they always end up getting lost, their friends always end up finding them. sirius gives a speech at jegulus wedding and remus and peter have to take turns reading the last bit because sirius is crying so hard he can't speak (james is crying too)
regulus/peter: chaotic besties. that's it. absolute ride or die's. they have a sixth sense to know where the other one is at any given time. they bond over being trans and a deep unbound love for dark and forbidden magic. one of their favourite things to do together is to roam around the castle in their animagus forms and gather information on everyone for blackmail purposes. can have entire conversations with their eyes and eyebrows. always know something nobody else knows. peter is the first person reg goes to when he finds out he's pregnant, and peter hugs him for a good half an hour because reg is scared and needs the reassurance. when harry is born peter transforms into a rat all the time and lets harry manhandle him all he wants without complaining

Pairing: Regulus Black x fem!muggle born!reader
Summary: Regulus shows up at your house in the poring rain after a fight with his mother. (First Regulus fic)
Tw: bad home situation, crying, the Black house situation( if u see any other pls inform me)
Author's note: romantic, fluff, reader isn't a slytherin
Word count: 2216
~~~~~
It is poring rain. Yesterday it had snowed but the rain has washed it all away by now. And since then it has been raining for the whole day. Going out in town was not on the list today. Not that you minded it at all. Staying inside with a book, blanket draped over you, the fire crackling in front of you and the faint sound of rain against the window was perfection.
The rain had lulled you into a light sleep when hard knocking disturbed the peace. You shot up at the sound and tried to calm your heart when you realised it was just the front door.
Your father gets up from his place in his armchair to get the door. 'Who would be so crazy to be out in this weather?' He grumbles as he walks past you.
A few seconds later you hear him open the door and the voice that answers him has you leaping to your feet and sliding over the polished floor to the hallway.
You grab the wall to stop yourself from sliding too far.
Right when you enter the hallway your dad called out to you.
'Y/N! There's someone- oh, there you are.' Your dad sees you and steps aside to let you through and gets back to the living room.
In front of you stands a drenched, very drenched, Regulus Black.
'Hey.' His sore voice makes you flinch for him. It sounds as if he's been out in the rain for far too long.
'Hey, don't just stand there come on in.' You let him walk past you and guides him to the living room. Your dad already has fallen asleep again.
'Let me put your coat on the coat hanger.' Regulus shreds of his coat as his eyes go over the decorations of the room.
He's never been here. Well, not inside your house at least. When he has the chance he would walk with you as he has to pass your house anyway when he walks home himself.
But every time you'd invited him in he always quickly, but politely, declined your offer. Saying his parents were waiting, or his mother wouldn't like it. It were always the same excuses. You didn't wanted to press him on the subject. But everyone with a bit of brain knew the brothers Black almost lived in a prison.
So that's why you didn't bother asking him why he walked in the poring rain to your house. You already were able to guess the reason.
Though he has never come to you when his home got a bit too chaotic.
You turn around from hanging up his coat and see him standing, shuffling his weight, at the window. He seems to feel out of place and you immediately try to let him feel welcome. 'You could sit on the other armchair so you can dry a bit by the fire.' He looks up from his fixated glare on the rain outside and slowly looks from you to the chair. 'Thank you.' He nods politely.
'Would you like anything to drink? Or eat, maybe? My mother baked screaming cakes.'
His face lightens up by the mention of your mother's famous cakes. They were little soft cupcakes with different tastes of frosting. After they come out of the oven your mother puts a spell on them to make them alive in way. It's a memory to your parent's wedding day. Your aunt bewitched the cake so that it started screaming. It was a joke and was still being told at every family party.
'I'll take that as a yes.' You laugh going to the kitchen to get the cakes.
When you're back Regulus is sitting as straight as a candle by the fireplace. His eyes fixated on the licking flame and his hands folded on his lap where his fingers anxiously fidget.
You place the plate on the low coffee table and Regulus immediately takes one and starts eating it.
'You're hungry.' You try to tease him in the hope of getting him to relax.
His face flushes pink and he swallows loudly. 'I-I kind of skipped dinner at home.' He admits finally.
You're face goes blank and his' forms a look of regret telling you.
'What did they do?' You ask taking place on the sofa closest to him.
He looks everywhere but at you.
'Regulus, you can talk to me. About everything. I won't judge or pity you. I promise.' At your words he seems to relax a bit. Focus on "a bit".
His eyes flicker to your dad, who's still snoring in his armchair. You stand up and take the cupcakes. 'You're dry enough. We'll go upstairs so he won't wake up.'
Regulus quickly gets up to follows you, up the spiralling stairs to the second floor. His eyes go over everything. The paintings on the walls, the candelabras with different designs, the mirror that's in front your door.
'Why is there a mirror in the hallway?'
You smile sheepishly. 'It's mine. It was supposed to be in my room but I freak out when it reflects my own movements at night. So my parents hung it here.'
'Afraid of the dark?' He smiles teasingly.
'There's no shame in that.'
'Of course not.' He grins and you bump your elbow in his side.
'Open the door, will you?'
He steps forward and opens it for you to go in first.
Your room is chaotic to say the least. The walls are shades of brown, bookcases serve for the most part of them. Your desk cannot be seen from all the papers that are thrown on it. Your bed is still just the way you've left it when you got up and drawings adorn the wood of the roof. And books lay open and in heaps of books.
'It's a bit of a mess.' You chuckle nervously. Remembering how Regulus kept his dorm room at Hogwarts neat and clean.
'It's very you.' He smiles, removing his eyes from the drawings to you.
You fake hurt. 'Are you saying I am a mess?'
He laughs hoarsely. 'I guess I took that title over by now.' He smiles sadly.
You look at him for a moment more before setting the cupcakes on the floor and letting yourself fall down on your bed. 'Come here.' You point on the spot besides you.
Regulus goes to sit besides your lying figure. 'Lay down.'
He furrows his eyebrows. 'Why-?'
'Just do it.' He does as you say, both your eyes looking up at the messy ceiling of your sketches and drawings.
'Doesn't it feel good?' You ask after a minute.
'What?' He asks, lolling hid head to the side to look at you.
'This.' You weakly put your hands up moving them around to gesture to the bed and your bodies. 'Just lying on a bed and doing nothing. No homework, no responsibilities, no fear, no stress. Just peace.'
He looks back up. 'I guess so.'
You look at him now. 'You don't have to talk. You don't have to say anything to me. But you can. Whenever you want.'
He sucks in a breath and holds it for a moment before sighing and meeting your eyes. 'They hit him.'
You blink a few times trying to process those words. 'They hit him?' You repeat them, your brows raising in shock.
He nods, his own brows furrowing in frustration. 'My mother, she hit Sirius. And it's my fault.' The last words came out as a whisper. As if he hates finally hearing them out loud instead if in his own mind.
'Your fault? Nonsense.' You state sternly. 'As long as you didn't make her hit your brother with purpose, it is not your fault.'
He scoffs, moving his eyes up to the ceiling again. 'But it is. I was having a discussion with my mother and I should've left it alone. Let her have the idea I'll back down. But I don't know I couldn't stand it today.' He throws his hands up in frustration. 'And I kept making it worse. She was going to hit me bit Sirius stept in trying to stop her and instead of hitting me she hit him for standing up for me. Saying I was weak for not standing up for myself.' He fidgets with his hands on his belly as silence stretches in the room after he stopped talking.
'You better not listen to her. Her way of seeing worth and courage are not really what you could call reliable. You know what, you should come live here.' You say after a few moments of thinking.
He meets your gaze again, his eyes saucers. His head shaking rapidly.
'No!' His voice is suddenly so loud that you flinch away. 'Sorry.' He quickly softens his voice. 'No, don't even think about it. My parents would make your family's lives horrible. My family is my problem and mine alone.'
'Keep telling yourself that, Reggie. I'm not letting you face this alone. And I'm not saying we have to go to your parents and start rebelling. I'm just saying that this isn't good for you. Neither for Sirius.'
'You don't understand. My mother, she already knew you weren't a Slytherin but I could convince her to look past it. But she discovered you're not pure blood.'
Your face falls. 'Oh.' You don't know what else to say. If she didn't already liked you, she definitely hated you now.
'Is that the reason why you two were arguing?' Your voice is a whisper.
Regulus visible softens. 'Yes. She wanted to erase you from my life. But I don't care about what she thinks of you. It's my life. I choose who I stay with.' You sit up, looking back at him with a small grin. 'You learned that from a smart girl you know?'
He grins back. 'The smartest.'
You look at your hands in your lap, thinking of anything to say or do to help him. With a look that demanded no contradiction you turn back to him. 'I still think you should come live with us. Sirius too, or maybe with the Potters. Whichever he likes. You both cannot live in that house anymore.'
'I guess some of us just aren't that lucky with the place we're born into.' Regulus sounds indifferent.
'That doesn't mean you have to stay there. Okay, they are your family. But family doesn't hurt each other. You can choose your own family. One that loves you. That cares for you.'
'Sounds too good to be true when you say it like that.' He smiles bitterly. 'I don't think I'm able to have a loving family as yours.'
'But you do.' You say it twice, making sure he's hearing you. 'You've got Sirius, me, my parents literally adore you if you didn't know. They talk about you as if you were their own son.'
Regulus turns your words over in his head. It still sounds too good to be true. But deep down he knows you're right. He didn't realise a tear had fallen down his cheek until you swipe it away with your thumb. Instinctively he reaches to hold your hand there before you're able to pull away.
'Thank you. For everything.' His eyes are glassy as you meet his eyes.
'We're family Regulus. I love you, and that won't ever change.' You let your thumb caress his cheek and he closes his eyes at the touch.
'You promise?'
'I promise.' You grin as he opens his eyes again. 'And besides how else are you're going to get these cakes from?' You nod at the screaming cupcakes by your feet.
'I wouldn't survive without them.' He laughs. 'I have to admit that these were the reason why I started talking to you.' He grins cheekily, a few stray tears falling across his cheeks.
'I should actually be offended by that but I have to agree with you.' He laughs and you join him.
You both catch your breath after one or two minutes and you fall back down on your back. 'But seriously, you should think about my offer.'
'You sound really formal now.' He tried to joke.
'That's because I'm really serious about it.' Your voice doesn't waver. 'You're always welcome here. Sirius too. Whenever you need to come or for how long, the door's open for you.'
Regulus reaches to take your hand in-between you two, and intertwines your fingers. 'I know.' He leans closer so he can rest his head on your shoulder. 'Thank you for being here with me. For not leaving even if I can be distant and cold sometimes. I’m just tired of putting on a mask. To pretend I’m okay with my parents their ruling over me. I’m tired of everything except you.’
'I'll always be here, Regulus.' You let your own head rest on the crown of his head. 'I'm here to stay as long as you want me too.' You kiss his hair. After a moment of silence you begin running your fingers through his curly hair. ‘Try to get some sleep, hm?’
He hugs you closer to his sides and lets his eyes close. ‘I love you.’ You smile lovingly down at him. ‘I love you more.’
He smiles lazily. ‘I don’t think you want to start that discussion.
You chuckle making his head go up and down with the movements if your shoulders. He lets out small chuckles of his own. You’re both silence after that. Regulus letting the steady up and down of your chest lull him to sleep. As you keep massaging his scalp, looking up at the ceiling and enjoying the warmth of him next to you.
You lay like that until he falls asleep. You carefully lean a bit forward so you can see his face. A tiny furrow has grown between his brows as he sleeps. You gently put your fingers against it so its gone. He looks peaceful now. Almost innocent from all the horrors of his home. 'I'll keep you safe from them, I promise.' You whispers in his hair.
“Can I come over?”
Your voice is sweet and soft through the phone. Sleepy. Eddie smiles, leaning into the wall.
“Course you can, princess. It’s late though, are you tired?” he rasps. You hum in affirmation.
“Can’t sleep.”
You struggle with sleeping often, spending many nights without so much as a second of rest. Eddie tries in every way he can to help, doing everything from playing you soothing music to holding you in his arms and cuddling you to sleep. Sometimes his efforts pay off - other times, not so much.
“Alright, baby. You want me to come and get you?”
“‘s alright, I’ll walk.” Eddie frowns; his little grunt makes you giggle. Balancing the phone between his ear and shoulder, he rifles through the array of possessions scattered by the front door and jumps in triumph when he finds his car keys.
“I don’t want you walking so late by yourself, beautiful. I’m gonna come and get you, okay?”
“I don’t want you walking so late by yourself, beautiful. I’m gonna come and get you, okay?”
“I don’t want you walking so late by yourself, beautiful. I’m gonna come and get you, okay?”
“‘kay, Eds. See you soon. Love you.”
“Love you more.”
“Love you more.”
“Love you more.”
Eddie hangs up and crosses his arms. You must be exhausted if how agreeable you are is anything to go by. Usually you’d do anything but let Eddie help you, arguing and protesting for every second that your boyfriend is trying to make your life easier. But you just don’t have it in you. You’re so fucking tired.
The drive to your house isn’t a long one, but Eddie hates the idea of you out, alone, in the middle of the night. He’s so protective of you - and with good reason.
You’re already waiting outside when he arrives. Hopping into the passenger seat, you gaze up at him with drooping eyes. He threads fingers through your hair, nimble and wonderfully gentle, and you murmur quietly, leaning into him.
“Hi, pretty princess,” he says, “Let’s get you to bed. We can cuddle, have some tea, whatever you want.”
“Tea?” you giggle.
“Yeah! I read somewhere that it’s like, super calming and can help you fall asleep. So I bought some for you.”
“Thank you, baby.” You smile, climbing awkwardly into his lap in the car. He sits back, immediately making room for you. You’re so lucky, really, to have someone who puts up with all of this. Who wants you despite all of your silly quirks and flaws, even though you’re difficult and stubborn and hard to deal with sometimes. Eddie loves you regardless. Pushing your hair back from your face, he kisses your forehead; you whine, holding his face still to press a kiss to his lips. He sits up, deepening the kiss; your lips mesh together, warm and soft and comforting, and Eddie’s tongue slips through and into your mouth, pulling a hum from you.
“Eddie,” you whine against his lips, fingers curled around his t-shirt.
“Shh, shh. ‘s alright,” he reassures, thumb caressing your cheek. “C’mon, let’s get you home.”
A grin cracks across your face at the word home. What’s his is yours, after all, and Eddie has always adhered to that.
You climb back over to the passenger seat, clicking your seatbelt in and hugging your knees.
“Good girl,” Eddie says, rubbing your cheek before starting the car engine again.
The ride to Eddie’s is short and quiet; you struggle to keep your eyes open, but still sleep refuses to come. By the time you realise that you’re stationary and Eddie’s already out of the car, he’s lifting you. You wrap your arms around his neck, breathing him in and working deft fingers into the baby hairs at the nape of his neck. With your other hand, you twirl the ends of his long hair, smiling dazedly into his neck. His steps are long and languid, purposely so as not to jolt you. He unlocks the caravan, setting you down gently so he can close the door behind him. You make for the bed, laying down on the pillows that smell like him and inhaling deeply.
“Smells like weed in here, Eds,” you laugh.
“Sorry, sweetheart.”
“No, the smell isn’t bad,” you reply, “jus’ different.”
“Okay, what do you wanna do? What d’ya think’ll help you fall asleep?”
“Dunno. Will you cuddle me?”
He toes his heavy boots off along with his jacket, climbing into the bed alongside you. You’re on him in an instant, shuddering at the touch you’ve been sorely lacking. You already feel like you could fall asleep.
“I missed you,” you tell him, pushing your arms under his own and stretching.”
“I missed you too, princess. Missed this.” You hum thoughtfully at his reply, kissing his jaw.
“How’s Hellfire been? Is your campaign going well?”
“Oh yeah, it’s going really well. It’d be better if I had my lucky charm to come with me.”
“That me?” you giggle.
“Of course that’s you. Will you come, sweetheart? Please?”
“Yeah, Eds, I’ll come. You’ve just got to help me sneak out. My dad has me on house arrest.”
“I’m not messing with your dad. He scares me,” he laughs. “What did you do?”
“I snuck out to go to one of Steve’s parties and I may have come back a little bit drunk.”
“Oh my god,” he cackles, his chest shaking with the force of his laughs.
“Not my finest moment,” you admit, “He only really grounded me because I threw up on the front doorstep.”
Eddie cries actual tears at that, wheezing and howling above you. You scrunch your face up, batting at him halfheartedly.
“You’re so mean!”
“It’s funny, princess. I’m sorry!”
You settle yourself in the juncture of his neck, his infectious happiness relaxing you infinitesimally. His arm travels up and around your shoulders, rubbing soothing circles into your skin. You shiver, slipping your hands beneath his t-shirt.
“Y’alright?” he asks, tilting his head to get a glimpse of your face.
“‘m alright. Just tired.”
He pulls the blankets further over you, pressing his lips to your temple. Before he knows what’s happened, you’ve drifted off to sleep nestled in his arms.
You manage to doze for a few hours before you’re wide awake again. You feel refreshed and significantly better, albeit still tired. Eddie sleeps soundly next to you and you smile, tracing his tattoos with the very tip of your finger. Your lips follow, pressing chaste kisses to his skin, anywhere you can reach. You do it for no other reason than you need to feel close to him.
“Fuck, I love you,” Eddie rasps, voice thick with sleep. “Can’t believe I have you all to myself.”
You laugh, snuggling back into his awaiting arms and kissing a trail along his jaw and cheek.
“I love you more,” you mumble.
“Don’t test me, princess. You want me to prove how much I love you?”
The innuendo isn’t wasted on you and your eyes widen as his arms tighten around your frame.
“Baby, it’s so early!” you squeal, writhing in his iron grip.
“Shh, shh,” he coaxes, body crushing yours from above now; his skilled hands have you soft like putty within mere seconds and you go lax, baring your throat to him like an offering. A sacrifice.
“There’s my girl,” he praises, teeth grazing the tender skin over your trachea. “So good for me. So pretty.”
“Eddie,” you whimper, pawing at his chest and abdomen.
“I’m right here. What do you want?” he almost purrs, knowing exactly what to say to rile you up.
“I-I want you,” you manage to stutter out, arms sprawled around you. You’ve gone limp like prey - and he’s hunting you.
“Gonna have to be more specific than that, sweetheart. I’m right here.”
Your skin is on fire, buzzing with energy that needs to be expelled. You need him to do something, anything.
“Kiss me please.”
He doesn’t need any more encouragement, lips feverish against your own. When his hands cup your cheeks, rings cold against your warm skin, you prop yourself up on your elbows, pressing yourself as far into him as you can get. He murmurs love words against your lips.
“Good girl. So good f’me, princess. Fuck, I love you so much.” Incoherent whines are your only reply as you practically try to crawl inside of his skin. You can’t seem to get close enough and it’s driving you mad.
“Sweetheart, I’m here. Chill out,” Eddie laughs. You could almost cry. You need to be closer.
“I can’t,” you breathe, tucking your bare arms under his t-shirt. “Not close enough.”
“Alright, alright. If you wanted me to take my clothes off, should’ve just asked.” He winks, stripping his shirt off in one clean movement. You pounce, nuzzling into him. He cradles you like you’re made of china, lips gliding over your face and shoulders. “Sweetheart, what is it?”
“I just missed you,” you say, “Everything is so much worse when you’re away.”
“I have you, princess. I missed you so much.”
The fatigue returns tenfold, crashing over you like a wave, pulling you under. It’s almost as if your body knows you’re safe with Eddie and allows you to relax. To sleep peacefully without worry.
“Can we go back to sleep please?” you ask. Eddie nods.
“Finally feeling tired, hm?”
“Yeah.”
He gets you comfortable, smiling at your dozy expression. You sigh softly, pressing your face to his chest and wrapping your arms around his neck. Humming, you kiss the hollow of his throat.
“Love you.”
“I love you too, sweetheart.” He rubs your head with deft fingers until you’re pulled back under by sleep.
You're sitting on Eddie's lap, looking at his D&D manual as he narrates the events of tonight's campaign. You're not taking any part in the gameplay, you just like to be close to him, and he likes to be close to you.
"Hey, I'm gonna use the restroom real quick," he murmurs in your ear, kissing your cheek.
You nod and get off his lap so he can leave.
"So... does that not piss him off?" says Mike after a moment.
You furrow your brow in confusion. "What?"
"Like... how you're constantly all over him."
"Dude!" Dustin hisses, elbowing him.
"What!?" Mike rubs his side. "It would irritate me."
You shrink into yourself. "Do you really think it bothers him?" you ask, voice small.
The boys' eyes widen. "What?" says Dustin. "No, no no no. He loves you, man, he talks about you all the time."
You bite your lip, still self-conscious.
Mike swallows. "Yeah! Like, I don't know that he would be bothered by it. I just think I would."
Lucas hits his arm. "You are so not helping," he hisses.
You fidget uncomfortably. "Maybe I should just... stop being so clingy."
"No, no no no - "
Dustin shuts his mouth as Eddie enters the room. Your boyfriend senses the tension and smiles in confusion. "Hey guys." He walks over and you slide out of his chair. "Is everything all right?"
"Yep!" says everyone, a little too quickly. You awkwardly take a seat on the sidelines.
Eddie gives you a questioning look. "(Y/N), why are you - "
"Don't worry about me," you say quickly. "Just play your game." You force a smile. "Don't let me distract you."
Eddie gives you one more look, biting his lip, before sighing and continuing with the game.
After everyone leaves Eddie walks over to you. "Hey, are... you okay?"
You look up, eyes wide. "Yeah! Yeah, of course, why wouldn't I be okay?"
Eddie raises an eyebrow. "(Y/N), baby, I can tell when you're lying to me."
You sigh, shoulders slumping. "Fine..." you mumble. "Does it... annoy you when I'm clingy?"
Eddie's face scrunches in confusion. "Clingy? You're not clingy."
"I'm all over you all the time!" you protest. "That's the exact definition of clingy!"
Eddie shakes his head, sitting beside you. "No, it's not. I define clingy as like... an emotional dependence thing. Like if you depended on me for absolutely everything that would be clingy. But you're not like that. You just enjoy physical affection, and guess what?"
"What?" you ask softly.
He leans close and pecks your lips. "I do too," he whispers. He pulls you into his lap and attacks you with kisses.
You shriek with laughter. "Stop, Eddie, that tickles!"
"Oh yeah?" He grins devilishly and kisses you more.
You giggle till you're both out of breath and slump against him.
"Hey," he says softly, "who put that idea in your head?"
You fidget uncomfortably. "Mike. But it was nothing, he didn't mean anything by it. Please don't get mad at him."
He waves you off. "Ignore him. Mike has a big mouth. He doesn't know anything he says."
You laugh a bit. "You really don't mind me being super affectionate?"
He shakes his head. "Not in the slightest. On the contrary, I really, really like it."
You smile. "Good. I really like it too."
You loved his hands.
No matter where they were, they always felt amazing, running through your hair or simply rubbing up the sides of your waist, it was as if they had been graced by god.
"G'morning, sweetheart."
Eddie's breath fanned against your neck as he shifted, pressing open mouthed kisses on the sensitive skin, his hands coming up to rub your stomach as pulled you closer.
"Morning, Eds.."
You mumbled back as you snuggled your back into his chest, his fluffy hair tickling at your cheek as he moved around, making sure to cover your entire neck with kisses.
"You slept well, right? I slept like a fucking baby."
Eddie chuckled, the vibrations against your skin sending shivers up your spine, your hands coming down to interlace your fingers with his.
"Yeah, I slept well... Your bed's way comfier than mine..."
You firmly believed that was a fact.
Even in the small dingy caravan he shared with his uncle, his room seemed like a safe space from the rest of the world.
A little isolated corner in Hawkins for the both of you to relax after school, away from everyone else and every problem you had.
You'd spend hours lying in bed in his arms, his face snuggled into your neck much like he was now, his warm hands roaming your body and finally resting on your breasts or stomach; some random vinyl that he had put on hours ago forgotten in the background.
It had been the first time you had actually slept overnight at his caravan, and it truly felt like heaven. His warm body encasing you as you slept, his light snores filling the room once he nodded off, the sounds the TV made from the living room mixing in pleasantly with his own noises.
Although you wished you could stay forever in his arms, feeling the cool air coming in through the window from behind the curtains, listening to his random thoughts and feeling his sweet kisses, you knew everything good had to end.
Eddie pulled his arms from around you, pressing one last kiss to your jaw before leaning up and stretching his arms into the air, making his shirt ride up and reveal his tummy, a yawn leaving his mouth once he had finished his obligatory morning stretches.
"Fuck... Wish I could stay longer here, sweetheart, but duty calls. Got a campaign to organise for tonight, the guys have been cheewing my ear off all week."
He leaned down, pressing a quick kiss to your cheek before getting up onto his feet and making his way to the bathroom, a faint "hey" coming from outside as he said hello to his uncle.
You shifted underneath the duvet (which smelt just like Eddie, although a bit more weed-ish than he did), looking up at the poster of Black Sabbath he had pinned to the wall right next to his bed, claiming that it was as if god looked down on him while he slept, when for you and everyone else it was just another rock poster among all the others.
As you heard the shower go on, you sighed, knowing that you should probably get up yourself, not wanting to intrude in his uncle's home more than you already had.
Even if he claimed that he didn't mind, that he was glad that Eddie had found someone and was actually going out more often due to you and his club, you couldn't help but feel nervous around the man, feeling as if you always overstayed your welcome.
He would embarrass Eddie in front of you, taking on the roll of the typical mother and showing you pictures of a small Eddie in baths or wearing sunglasses that were too big for his tiny head, the boy whining and complaining the whole time until he was able to pull you away from suffering even more embarrassment.
His uncle claimed that you two were like those cheesy couples he'd watch on late night TV, the picture of a perfect relationship.
Your relationship with Eddie was in fact perfect, everyone knew that.
Well, everyone would know that if you actually came out as a couple.
For some unknown reason, the first few dates you had had with him were done in secret, up on top of a hill at night or in his caravan after school.
You hadn't mentioned it at first, thinking maybe he was new to dating or that he simply felt more comfortable alone, which you of course weren't going to judge.
But you started to gain suspicion when he shot down your ideas of going out together to somewhere like Starcourt (when it was still up and running), or simply meeting up at school to have lunch together.
Then when you had finally started dating, he asked you to keep it a secret for a while until he was ready, but that 'while' quickly turned into half a year.
You loved Eddie, you really did. But sometimes you wondered... Did he love you the way you did? Was he embarrassed of you? Did he feel uncomfortable being around you when you were with other people?
Your thoughts were interrupted as Eddie came back in, his hair slightly damp from the condensation and a towel wrapped around his waist as he walked around the dimly lit room to try and find his clothes.
You smiled at the way he rummaged through that big pile of clothes on his chair, pulling away one of your bras in confusion before throwing it over his shoulder, continuing with his quest to find wearable clothes for that day.
"Here, let me-"
You pulled the curtains away from the window, rolling your eyes as Eddie hissed dramatically as the rays of the morning sun hit his skin, striking a vampire like pose with his arm covering half his face, stopping instantly as he saw your eye roll, watching you start to tidy up his bed.
"You're killing me here, babe."
He mumbled under his breath, grabbing his Hellfire shirt and slipping it on, turning away from you to pull down the towel and put some boxers and trousers on.
You couldn't help but sneak a peak at his ass as he leaned down to pick his clothes up, blushing bright red as he quickly shimmied into his jeans, finally noticing your stare when he turned his head around, smirking proudly before clapping his hands together and snapping you out of it, motioning to your discarded clothes on the floor.
"C'mon, you want a ride or not?"
You stopped as you leaned down to grab your bra, turning to look at him in confusion as you slowly moved to pick your underwear up.
"A ride?"
"Yeah, a ride, y'know, vroom vroom?"
He moved his hands as if he were holding a steering wheel, staring back at you with the same confusion written across his face.
"I- I know what a ride is, Eddie! I'm not stupid!"
"Then why are you acting like I just spoke russian?"
You blinked owlishly at him, forcing yourself to rip your stare away from him and back down to your clothes, fiddling with a loose string from your underwear that stuck out.
Truth be told, Eddie had never offered you a ride.
Well, that was a lie. You had been in his car million of times, whether it be to make out or to drive you to his house, but he had never once offered to take you to school.
He picked you up sometimes after your club had ended, when there were barely any people hanging around the school grounds, saying a brisk hello before latching onto your lips once the car doors were closed.
Even when you mentioned on the phone that you'd be walking to school from your house or that Robin and Steve were going to pick you up, he simply hummed and wished you a safe ride.
He never once volunteered himself to take you to school.
"Hey, love? You're not blacking out on me are you?"
His voice and his sudden touch on your shoulder made you turn around to look at him, his lips turned up into that goofy smile of his, fingers softly squeezing your shoulder to make sure you were okay.
"Yeah, yeah- It's just, you've never really driven me to school..."
Now it was Eddie's turn to look away, inhaling sharply and kissing his teeth, fiddling with one of the rings that he had accidentally left on while sleeping, the cool metal feeling nice against his warm fingers.
"I uh- I'm not going to make you walk all the way from here, am I?"
Eddie could be a dick sometimes, but he wouldn't go to the lengths of making you walk from the caravan park to Hawkins High while he drove there, he wasn't that type of guy.
Still, you couldn't help but feel guilty at the thought that maybe- just maybe, he felt obliged to giving you a ride simply because he would feel bad for making you go to school alone.
"I thought you were embarrassed of being with me..."
You suddenly muttered underneath your breath, Eddie almost getting whiplash from how quick he turned to look at you, his eyes blown out wide as his mouth opened and closed, much like a fish out of water would.
"Wh- Embarrassed? Of you? Never! Why would you-"
He tripped over his own words, hands moving around as he tried to articulate the words he couldn't find, and if you weren't in the middle of being upset, you would have found it quite endearing.
"You're embarrassed of being with me! That's why you want to keep this a secret, right?"
You said, trying your best to not let your voice crack, but it ended up being in vain, since you ended up sounding like a teen going through puberty.
His warm hands instantly found yours as he realised how upset you actually were, bringing them up to his lips and peppering kisses over your knuckles, muttering "no", over and over as he shook his head.
He couldn't believe what he was actually hearing.
Embarrassed? Of you?
You were one of the most, hell, scratch that; the most beautiful girl in Hawkins! Why would he be embarrassed of being around you?!
His kisses halted as he let go of your hands, looking down at you with a concerned look, his fingers coming up to tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear, wiping away a few stray tears that had started to form with his knuckles.
"Why'd you think that? Why would I ever be embarrassed of you, darling? You're perfect..."
You looked away from his dark gaze, shrugging your shoulders, knowing that if you opened your mouth right then it would all come out messy, probably making the poor guy even more confused.
Yet, he deserved to know what you were thinking, right? That was how relationships worked.
You took a deep breath, turning your head to look back at him and finally spoke. "You always go on these rants about the popular kids being dicks, yet you spent like... Half a year making out with me... Even if I'm one of those so-called dicks."
Eddie's face softened, bringing his hands up to cup your cheeks and nodded, egging you on to continue, letting you know that he would listen.
"You want to keep us a secret because you're worried that people will see you as a liar when they see you dating one of the people that you claim you hate."
You felt bad for saying all these things, but you couldn't help but finally get it off your chest, all those feelings that you had pushed down for his sake, scared that maybe he'd get angry at you for not respecting his wishes and dump you, even with the knowledge that Eddie wasn't like that.
He wasn't one of those dicks that went from girl to girl, not caring about their feeling nor the consequences of their actions. Eddie was nothing like them.
He was the sweetest person you had ever met, making sure you were always comfortable around him, that his antics never scared you, that you were okay whenever he saw you mildly tense... He even introduced you to his uncle, brought you to his caravan, let you into the deepest parts of his heart that he had always kept to himself.
You felt bad for unloading this onto him, but you couldn't just ignore it anymore, even if he broke up with you, he had to know how he was making you feel.
You take his calloused hands into yours, pulling them away from your now-red face and taking a step back, your arms crossing over your chest as you looked away as soon as you realised the tears you had tried your best to keep at bay were now freely running down your cheeks.
"Hey, hey, no!"
You felt his warm hands instantly land on your waist, pulling you towards him and letting you rest your head against his chest, a shaky breath leaving his mouth as he snuggled his face into your hair, sighing softly.
"I'm sorry, pretty girl... Of course I'm not embarrassed of you. Far fucking from it. I want nothing more than to drive into school with you every morning, hold your pretty lil' hand as we walk through the halls, eat lunch underneath the bleachers with you like in those silly rom-coms my uncle watches, I want nothing more than to be your boyfriend... A proper one."
He leaned back, allowing you to continue your hug as he brought his hands up to your face, smiling softly at the sight of your confused expression, finding the way you cocked your head to a side adorable.
His thumbs ran over the apple of your cheeks, the cool metal of his rings rubbing comfortably against your warm skin, a small part of you getting worried that maybe your tears would rust the cheap material.
"You, my beautiful girl, are the most amazing girl in Hawkins. I could never be embarrassed of you. I... Never meant for it to come off that way, I was stupid for even suggesting to keep this a secret."
"Then why did you?" You asked slowly, recognising the guilt written on his face as he tried to come up with an answer, your nails digging into the denim of his jacket.
"Cause I thought you would be the one who'd be embarrassed. Not me."
Huh?
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion, making him groan and raise a hand to his face to cover his eyes, already having felt exposed enough, not ready for another wave of nerves to wash over him.
"What do you-"
"Fuck, look! You're - You're the most popular girl in Hawkins! Everyone wants you, fuck, I'm surprised Steve hasn't made a move on you yet, considering how much you hang out with each other!"
He cried out in exasperation, moving back as soon as you let go of his jacket and leaning on the wall of posters behind him, running his ringed fingers through his curly hair.
"I... Didn't want to ruin your reputation. If people realised you were dating someone like me, the fucking king of freaks, they'd label you as one too! I'm sure you've worked hard for your reputation... I can't just ruin that out of my own selfishness."
Your gaze softened as you noticed the way his fingers were nervously tapping against the wall, his other hand pulling and tugging at his locks as he looked everywhere but your face, clearly doing his best to not feel even more uncomfortable than he already was.
"You were doing it to protect me?"
"I mean- Protect your reputation more than anything. I didn't want you to get bullied like me or the Hellfire club, y'know? I didn't want to see my favourite person be put down simply because of going out with me. I didn't want to be the cause behind your friends leaving you-"
You interrupted him as you smiled, his eyes instantly darting towards you and cocking an eyebrow up in confusion.
"Is my meltdown amusing to you, Miss L/N?"
You gasped, shaking your head and trying to wipe the smile off, yet you couldn't help it at the realisation behind his words.
Eddie only wanted to protect you from being hurt by your friends.
He didn't hate you, he didn't feel embarrassed by you, fuck, he loved you!
"No, of course it's not, Mister Munson... I'm just... Shocked that- that's the actual reason."
Eddie chuckled, pushing himself forwards with his foot and walking up to you, wrapping his arms around your waist and starting to sway you around.
"You actually thought it was because I was embarrassed? Oh, honey. You're the best fucking thing that's happened to me. Why in the world wouldn't I want you next to me?"
Your arms found their way around his neck, his thumbs softly rubbing circles on your waist as he slowly pulled you two around the room, what had began as an attempted hug, now having turned into some sort of weird waltz.
"Does that mean that I get to be your girlfriend? Officially?"
You'd never seen Eddie smile brighter than he did right then.
"Officially."
Your heart did flips as he spun you around, finally dipping you and dramatically pressing his lips to yours, lifting you back up before you could slip out of his grasp and smiling down at you.
"So about that ride..."
Dustin and Mike had seen weird, terrifying, hell even traumatic things... But nothing could have prepared them for the sight of you, one of the most popular girls in school, climbing out of Eddie's car in one of his jackets, his hand holding yours as he helped you out.
"Oh, dude, no, no, no."
"I think I'm going to puke-"
Dustin hurled as soon as he saw you press your lips to Eddie's, Mike's expression of horror being shared amongst most of the students of Hawkins High.
Everyone got the memo as soon as Eddie lifted his middle finger up, his other arm hooked around your waist as he buried his face into your neck, everyone turning around and trying to get back to their own conversations.
"You're so extra, Eds... You literally parked in middle of the field..."
"What can I say, honey? I love a dramatic entrance."
hii! i loved your tasm peter with touch starved reader fics and i wondered if you could write something similar but james? angsty and fluffy <3
thank you + tysm for requesting!<3
You're crying hysterically.
It's been a long time since you cried this hard. It started innocently enough, a movie you've never seen about a young woman who moves to a new city and meets a guy. The movie is renowned for its small touches, its subtle intimacies.
It magnifies the feeling of absence in your chest by a thousand.
To be kissed, to be hugged, sure. But to be touched; to have the hair swept from your eyes, the back of your hand brushed to the ridges of a solid bicep, the fat of your hip pushed into someone else's. You want that. The simplest and somehow the most complex. It's been so long - you can't remember the last time you felt held by somebody. It drives you a bit insane, sitting on your sofa, feeling a thousand miles away from any other human, further from the possibility of touch.
Your door crashes open.
You flinch, and are quickly calmed by James Potter's boyish laughter.
"Oh, fuck. Y/N?" he calls. "Sorry, can you come help me?"
You wipe your face with your sleeves and spring up from the sofa to find James in the hallway, his long arms laden in more shopping bags than one person should reasonably carry by themselves and a huge grin on his face. It loses its exuberance when he sees your eyes.
You take two bags out of his arms and start for the kitchen before he can ask what's wrong, though he does anyhow, sounding much too concerned.
"Are you crying?"
"No," you say croakily, setting your two bags down on your small kitchen table.
James sets down his three and rounds the table, hands reaching to grab your face. You want it so badly that you can't let him, pulling away from his searching fingers. He persists. The feeling of his skin on yours is painful.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" he asks.
He tilts your head upwards so you're looking up at his face, tall enough that the inches between you feel like a mile.
"Nothing, I was- I was watching David Attenborough. A baby lion died."
He takes a long second to answer. You know he doesn't buy it but he doesn't want to force you to talk about it, wiping your cheeks dry methodically.
"Must've been really sad," he murmurs.
He pinches your nose clean. You startle and he doesn't care, all your gross mess marring his shirt sleeves.
It's that carelessness that sets you off. James pats your cheek and turns his back, starts explaining that you're having a tapas night because he had a voucher for the supermarket and everything looked great, and I missed you, bub, I thought this would be fun for us. You can barely hear him, thinking about his fingers, how he'd wiped your snotty nose clean like it was no big deal, how your cheeks are still tingling where he'd cupped your face.
Emotions are high and you're overwhelmed by his niceness. You start to cry again.
You throw your hands up over your face and the sobs that work through you are almost painful, gasping against your hands for air that isn't there. There's a million questions you want to ask and a heap of injustices you want to rally against, but mostly you just want James to touch you again.
You're beside yourself when he tries, when he murmurs, "Oh, come on, sweetheart," and reaches his hands out. His wide palm lands on your shoulder and you feel like you've been burned, flinching away. He doesn't try again, but he does plead.
"Sweetheart," said with unending patience, "talk to me. I know Planet Earth hasn't wound you up so badly."
You peak through your fingers at him. He looks so earnest that you feel instantly awful, turning away from him.
His hands on your shoulders, his elbow pressed to your shoulder blade, James comes up behind you in a half hug and massages the seized up flesh there kindly. After a while you calm, your tears slow but don't stop and your muscles relax under his soft touch.
You want to put your head on his shoulder. His chin pushes into your temple and it's almost enough. His hand coasts from one shoulder to the other, forearm stretching across your back, his hand rubs your aching upper arm. You look up to him, see him staring across the room at your picture frames, few in number. The photo of you and Janes has always been your favourite, where you feel most pretty. He has his arm around your shoulders and you look a little cagey but you're both smiling wide in the foreground of a green meadow bedecked in fair rides.
"Do you remember that?" he asks, pointing.
"Yeah."
"We hadn't known each other long."
"No."
"I've always been able to get a good smile out of you."
He looks down. His eyes are pinched in concern but he's fond.
"Got another one for me?" he asks. You smile. He smiles back. "Thank you."
You don't talk about the problem; you're ashamed. You open your mouth to confess and the words get stuck. James doesn't mind. When he pulls away he doesn't really pull away. His side kisses your side as he makes up a big plate of picky foods for the two of you, his arm slides against your arm as he sets everything down on the coffee table. When you sit on the sofa he throws himself down as close as he can.
A nature documentary comes on the TV and he flicks it off. "Can't have my favourite girl in tears again," he murmurs teasingly, loading a cracker up with cheese and a small slice of fancy ham. "Here," he says. His fingers brush your fingers as he passes it to you.
You can breathe a little easier. He's making excuses to touch you, you know. Subtle and then not, the night drags on and you find yourself under his arm feeling intoxicated with his nearness, so relaxed you're almost sleeping.
"Whenever you wanna talk about it," he murmurs, hours later when you're sure he's forgotten all about it, "I'm right here. Right here." He emphasises with a squeeze.
"Thanks, Jamie."
"Of course. Anything for my best girl."
ok so i don’t know if you want to write this but james is in a relationship with a shy reader and one day sees james and lily talking so she gets insecure thinking james is just settling for her. but like with a happy ending?
hi thanks so much for ur request! i love some shy reader hurt comfort heavy on the comfort this one got kinda long by accident i just love him so much
You don't know why you do it. You're coming back from the cereal aisle with a forgotten box of cornflakes and you see James' back turned to you. He's talking to somebody, a girl, and it takes you a moment to realise that it's not just any girl, it's Lily Evans. You shrug back behind a display of baked goods, peering through boxes of donuts at their easy conversation.
James is laughing very, very loudly, and Lily looks just as happy. They seem to have a rapport, a bouncing joke between them both. It doesn't last too long; an old woman shoos you out of the way and you reluctantly emerge, finding your boyfriend by himself.
"You got them?" he asks, though he can see them in your hands.
You nod and give him a weak smile. It's hardly any different to your usual, tentative expressions, and he doesn't take any notice.
"Awesome, thanks baby. Is that everything on the list?"
"Yeah," you say. He grins. You walk beside him, can't help yourself from looking into his warm face and wondering if he's really as happy as he seems.
Later, with the groceries put away and your dinner in the oven, you sit thigh to thigh with James in a comfortable silence and realise this is how it usually is. Evenings are often quiet with him, your fault, because he could chat shit for England. You start to worry, because why is that? Why does he let himself waste all his evenings with you? When he could be laughing up a storm with someone else?
He huffs under his breath at a joke on the TV, leaning back into the cushions with a handful of crisps aloft over his open mouth. He must feel your gaze because the crisps never get to his mouth. He smiles his confusion and offers his hand.
"Want some?" he asks.
You shake your head. He polishes off his handful and wipes his fingers in his pajama bottoms. An awful habit. You wrinkle your nose.
He laughs aloud. "What's the face for?"
"You wiped your hands in your trousers." You don't say, like a child, but he hears it.
James smarts. "Where would you have me wipe them? The sofa?"
"A tissue would be okay."
He laughs again. You feel a stab of insecurity - you're not being sarcastic, or funny, or any of those things. You're earnest and quiet and maybe you're no fun at all. He must see the darkening of your expression as his eyebrows crease in a show of worry.
"Does it really disgust you that bad? Sorry, shortcake. Old habits die hard. I'll get a tissue."
You clear your throat. "No, I- I don't care, Jamie."
"Jamie?" he repeats. That's where you slip up. You only call him Jamie when you're overwhelmed. "Something troubling you, my angel?"
"Nothing."
"You're a terrible liar."
You pick at your shirt hem. He waits patiently, then uneasily. You wince as he shifts, worrying that you've made him mad by dodging the question. You haven't – he's moving to put the bowl of crisps on the coffee table so that he can wrap his big arm over your shoulders.
"You can tell me anything," he says.
You nod. "I know."
He waits some more, knowing how badly you struggle to impose anything on him. "James," you say, refusing to make the mistake of calling him by his nickname, lest his heart give out with panic, "do you ever get mad with me?"
"Not really. I wasn't best pleased when you shrunk all my boxers in the wash, but that was an accident."
You try to make yourself laugh at his attempt to lighten the mood, eyes flitting to his face. He's frowning something awful.
"No. I don't get mad at you. For what?" he asks.
"For being so quiet."
"I like that you're quiet." He doesn't miss a beat. You shake your head at him, disbelieving. "I'm serious. I like you exactly how you are."
"You don't get bored?" With me. With our life.
"You're not boring."
You can't agree with that. You feel like you must get pretty tedious, stuttering and stammering and bumbling. You can barely talk to his friends, struggle to look his parents in the face. You're a sad excuse for a girlfriend, and-
"I can feel you thinking mean things about yourself. Stop it," James says, squeezing your shoulders towards him. "Please. What's making you think about all this?"
"Nothin'," you mumble.
A stretch of silence. James turns the TV down before confiding in you quietly, "You know who I saw at the shops today?"
"Who?" you ask.
"Lily Evans. And she's just like she used to be, poor girl can't stand me. But she did ask about you."
"What did she ask?"
"If you're keeping me in line."
"What did you say?"
He hums to himself. "I said I've never been this happy in my life."
"Jamie…"
His fingertips are a whisper on your cheek, encouraging you to look at him. "I can't ever be bored. I'm too busy. Half the time I'm out of my mind wondering how I got so lucky, and the other half of the time I'm trying to think of ways to earn it."
He leans forward until your foreheads touch. "Sorry if I don't tell you enough, shortcake, but I'm mad for you. Completely. Just obsessed."
You're so happy and embarrassed you worry you'll burst into nervous tears. "I wasn't trying to pull so many compliments out of you."
He laughs, his breath hot on your lips. "I know that."
"Sorry."
"For what? Asking me a question? I'll tell you anything you wanna know. I'm so fucking happy with you, I don't care if you need me to tell you that. I'm happy to tell you that."
Any worries that he's settled for you are quickly waning. Still, insecurity lingers. "James, you're so lovely," he smiles at the compliment, "you're amazing. And I really worry that you're gonna realise that I'm not enough. I'm not outgoing, I can't-"
James steamrolls you, pulling back like you've zapped him. "Not enough?"
"I'm not funny."
"Sweetheart, you're funny."
"I'm not interesting."
He looks genuinely at a loss for words, something akin to heartache on his face. You want to take back your criticisms as quickly as you said them, hating that you've warped his pretty face into such a forlorn expression. You don't manage it, holding your breath as James' lean arms work under yours, dragging you easily into his chest. You flop into his hold, head digging unto his shoulder, eager to be hugged.
He wraps your hands around his neck and holds them there.
His voice is smooth and clear. "I know you think that your being shy is a flaw. That it's something you should get rid of, and that it makes you uglier." Frustration peaks through the syllables. "I know you think that, but it's not true. You're funny. You don't have to be a sarcastic, smug prick like me to be funny. And you're interesting. You're fascinating. You think there's nothing to see because you're not constantly shouting it out from the rooftops, but all your little details that make you you, I love them. I don't care if I have to look closer to see them."
He takes a breath, you take your own, heart beating between your ears as love for him swells in your chest like a water heavy flower. "'I love to look at you. If you hadn't noticed."
You sniffle and force your face into his hard shoulder, your hands uncharacteristically cruel where you cling to him.
"Understand me?" he asks gently, voice low like he knows he's unravelled you.
"Yeah," you whisper, smiling wide into his shirt, eyes shut tightly. "I love you."
"I love you," he says. James turns love into adore, into cherish. He rubs your back roughly, pressing scratchy kisses to wherever he can reach. "Ask me if you're boring again. I have more to say."
You don't think your heart could take it.
stick with me - remus getting very distracted by a book and r taking it as the silent treatement and feeling miserable until he realises? thank you <3
thank you so much for your request! hope this is ok <3<3<3
Remus has been giving you the cold shoulder all day, and you can't work out what you've done. He's silent now, sitting on your worn sofa, a book splayed open between his thighs.
You've been hard pushed to get a word out of him since this morning. This is your last hope. You're wound like a tight coil, biting back the shining of tears that threaten to break past your lash line as you sit down on the sofa cushion besides his. He doesn't say a word. He leans forward as you slide toward him, and you press your face gently into his corded back, waiting for a familiar arm to wrap itself around you. His arm doesn't come.
You're devastated immediately. Your eyes glaze over and you stare at the wall opposite, racking your brain for what you could've done to upset him. Remus has never, ever done this to you before. So what have you done?
The first sob is gentle, you can't help it. Tears run down your cheeks and you screw your eyes closed, fingers searching the plane of his back for comfort he won't give. You inhale shakily.
His back stiffens. His shoulders tense. Remus lifts his head from the pages of his book and looks over his shoulder at you before raising his arm in the air, effectively forcing you to sit up properly.
"I'm sorry," you whisper, looking down at your hands where they shake in your lap.
His book slips shut. A big hand tentatively climbs your arm until long fingers work under the neckline of your shirt.
"What's wrong?" Remus asks, thick brows furrowed.
"I'm really sorry," you apologise again.
"I don't understand." He shifts closer, presses your shoulder into his chest. "Why are you crying?"
"You're not speaking to me."
"Baby."
"I won't do it again."
"You haven't done anything," he says softly, as though his words are made of silk.
You sniffle, wiping your wet cheeks with a frustrated hand. His eyes are upset where they scan your features, eyebrows pinched up, a little crease between them.
"You've nothing to be sorry for. Have I missed something?" he asks in concern.
"You're not speaking to me."
"I'm sorry." His second arm moves, hand brought up to your face tenderly. He tilts your head back, forcing tears to halt where they'd been preparing to traverse down the slopes of your face. He wipes them away, one by one, looking tortured. "I'm sorry. Don't cry."
"You're mad at me," you say, though you're so confused by his soft touch it comes out like a question.
He shakes his head hurriedly. "No."
Your mouth opens but the anxiety of an entire day walking on eggshells and trying to get back into his good graces has left you deflated, and you find yourself speechless.
Remus looks heartbroken. "Baby, I'm sorry. You haven't done anything wrong, I've just been so caught up in that book, I- I didn't realise. Please don't cry."
His hand is warm on your face. You move into it, staring at him through heavy lashes.
"You're not angry?"
"No," he says quickly.
"Oh," you say, letting out a wet laugh. "Are you sure?"
"I promise... You want a cwtch?"
You nod so rapidly you almost snap your neck, forcing yourself into his open arms as he sits against the sofa cushion to bring you in. His arms cross over your back and pull where your arms are loose around his neck, damp face pushed into his collar.
He rubs firm lines of pressure up your spine, lips quick to kiss your hair. "Should'a said something."
"I didn't want to make it worse."
He hums. "Please don't cry over me. I'm a complete idiot."
"Everything's okay?"
"'Cept for your tears," he murmurs.
He ducks his head to look at you, hand stroking your hair back from your face.
You move your arms around him, readjusting to get ever closer, and knock the armrest with your elbow. His novel falls to the floor and you flinch back. "I'm-"
He shushes you gently. "Hey, it's just a book. No more apologies, yeah? Don't want any from you. It can stay there for all I care."
"Were you at a good part?" you ask, feeling better now in his arms.
"Don't care. This is much better."
You feel yourself flush at his corny compliment, chest aflame where it kisses his. He looks a little smug underneath his worry.
"You think you're so smooth," you whisper scornfully, bowing back into the juncture of his neck so he can't see your smile; it'll give you away.
He feels it on his skin. "I know I'm smooth," he says, and you both descend into giggles coloured by a dizzying relief.
hi !! i ADORE all your stories and they make me feel so warm and comfy <333 i loved the one about tasm peter and touch starved reader bc same tbh😭 and i wondered if you could or have the time to write more about it? it's just so lovely😭❤ have a great day/night wherever you are right now!!!
touch starved reader x peter is always so fun and soft to write, thank you for your request! hope you're having the best day!
Peter had told you to come to him when you're feeling numb. He'd said that. You hadn't made it up, or dreamt it, or fantasised. That was real, and you knew because he'd made sure to text you afterwards.
I meant what I said, bub. If you need me, call me.
You'd deflected, texted back. No matter where you are?
Ain't no mountain high enough, babe.
You took a screenshot of the conversation to look at when you feel achy, and it almost convinces you to reach out sometimes. You never really manage it, always waiting for Peter to text you first, Peter to hug you first.
You miss him so much and you haven't touched another person in a while and that song had been playing on the subway, tinny through someone's wired earphones. Listen baby.
You'd text him, needy, no signal, I really miss you.
And watched as it turned red. Not delivered.
Climbing the steps up onto the street you feel relieved that your awful neediness and weakness has been kept a secret that little while longer.
You meander through the streets, in no rush to make it home to your lonely, poorly kept apartment. The bodega two streets down from your place has your favourite drink on special and you feel almost happy by the time you make it back, two bottles hanging from a bag in the crook of your arm. You struggle with your shitty door one-handed. They key turns in the lock and you push, finding it locked. Oh, fuck, you think. I must've left it unlocked this morning.
You finally push open the door and find the opposite of your fear; where you'd expected a mess, overturned tables, a missing TV, you find your messy apartment has been cleaned.
"Peter?" you ask worriedly.
"Bub!" he calls, voice echoing from the kitchen, "I'm in here!"
You follow his voice. He's standing on your breakfast bar, neck craned, looking two seconds from toppling over. You gasp and drop your bags on the ground, quick to grab a hold of his calves and steady him.
He looks down at you and grins. "Hi, sweetness."
"What are you doing?" you ask incredulously.
He brandishes the screwdriver in his hand at you. "Your light doesn't work and it's not the bulb. How long's it been broken?"
"I don't know. Peter, why?" you mumble.
"I got bored waiting for you. How do you cook at night time if your light's not working, angel?" he asks, distracted, poking at wiring. He puts the screwdriver between his teeth and wobbles on the counter. You tighten your arms.
"No, Pete, why are you here? You weren't supposed to come 'til Sunday." You might sound like you're complaining, but already you feel more relaxed and less like a ticking time bomb, even from this simple contact.
He takes the screwdriver from his mouth quizzically. "You said you missed me."
Your heart skips. The text must have sent after all.
"Sorry, should I not have come? I just worry about you so much, you never tell me when you're lonely. I thought it was a good sign that you… needed me." He winces as he says it even though it's true.
You hide your face in the side of his thigh. "I do need you," you murmur, muffled by fabric. All the time. You know he's heard you.
He tightens a screw and pats your head. "Pass me the bulb?" he asks.
You scramble to remove yourself from your self indulgence and pass him the old bulb. He screws it in, jumps down from the bar like it's no big thing and flicks your light switch on. The kitchen is illuminated by dull, yellowing light.
"Tada," he says. "All fixed."
"Thank you, Peter," you say, looking up at the light so you don't have to look at him, retinas burning.
He wipes his hands together and leans against the doorway. "I want a proper thank you."
You can't understand his meaning until you meet his gaze, find him standing with his arms outstretched.
"Don't make me wait," he jokes.
You're embarrassed as you walk into his arms. He meets you, hands working under your arms to encircle your back, groaning loudly as he squeezes you tight.
"Oh, my girl. I've missed you too. I miss you all the time," he says over your head. You almost whimper, arms limp over his shoulder, face squished to the clean-shaven skin of his throat. He pulls back, hands warm and spread over your shoulder blades. "You know how much I miss you, don't you?"
You can't look at him as you nod. Unacceptable for him, Peter steals back one of his arms to slowly guide your face upward, hand kind but firm on your cheek.
"Is it bad?" he asks.
You shake your head, still mute, a lump of emotion in your throat. He smiles and tilts his head, stroking from the corner of your eye to your ear with his index finger. His thumb presses into your cheek..
"Thanks for texting me," he says earnestly.
You nod and tuck yourself back into his open arms, waiting for his hand to fall from your face, overwhelmed by but craving his tenderness. He wraps his arm around the back of your head. You've never felt so safe, hands hungry where they search his skin.
He's awfully whipped for you, you'll admit, as you stand there for a long time. He doesn't care, doesn't move or complain or shrug you off of him. If anything his arms grow incrementally tighter by the second, face pressed to the top of your head, the tip of his nose slow as it rubs tiny lines into your scalp. He makes these sounds that set you alight, little groans of breath, sighs with too much emotion in them.
"You smell nice," he says under his breath, taking a ridiculous sniff.
"Pervert," you whisper. "You smell nice too."
"Yeah? What do I smell like?"
Familiar. Musk, solder, boyish deodorant and the last remnants of his aftershave. He smells like skin. Homely.
"What do I smell like?" you ask instead of answering.
You could swear he presses a kiss to your head, lips hot. Your knees go weak as he says, "Heaven."
Confessions Over the Biology Project 🧪
Tumblr media
Stiles Stilinski x GN! Reader
Genre: FLUFF (like, all caps)
Warnings: swearing, as usual (what can I say? I'm a well mannered young asshole), reader makes fun of Stiles for being gay, coming out scene from reader to Stiles
Disclaimer: we can all agree that Stiles is some flavor of gay, right? Like, as a bisexual disaster I can recognize a bisexual disaster when I see one
Tropes: nerd x bully, enemies to friends
Summary: you and Stilinski were paired together by your teacher to work on a project, you didn't think it would turn into a confession session
***
"Hey, Bilinski. Come in." you told the nerd who stood in your doorway.
Stiles walked in, not even saying hello. "Can we get this over with?"
"Aw! I'm happy to see you too!" you said in mock happiness.
"Haha. Very funny, smart-ass. Listen, I already wrote down everything we have to talk about."
"Mm, this teamwork hits different." you told him, sarcastically.
Stiles rolled his eyes and followed you to your kitchen where the both of you sat down at the table.
"Look, if you want to I can do it all by myself and you can just sign your name on the poster at the end."
You were hurt, to be honest. You actually wanted to put in effort. Sure, you weren't the brightest in your class, but that didn't mean you didn't put in any work.
"Bilinski. I am deeply offended." you said and got up from your table, going to your living room and returning with a big sheet of bright green cardboard paper, a bunch of pictures you printed, colored pens and markers. "Just because my IQ is lower than your majesty's that doesn't mean I'm lazy."
Stiles looked at your materials and flicked through the pictures. "Wow, you actually know what the project is about."
"'Course I know, dickhead, who do you think I am?"
"I just never thought you paid attention!" he said, defensively.
"That's probably because you're too busy looking at your lil girlfriend to pay attention to anything else." you said, smirking.
"Oh, shut up." Stiles said, turning red.
"No need to get shy now, Miles, everyone knows you've got a crush on Lydia."
"You'll never call me by my actual name, will you?" he asked, annoyed.
"Nope." you responded with a big smile, "Now, what's the first thing on your gay agenda, captain sparkles?"
"Do you get your insults from Disney channel oor?" Stiles asked.
"Nickelodeon actually, but that was an educated guess, I'm proud of you. Y'know, Bilinski, you've always been my favorite power bottom."
"Okay, got it! I'm gay! Hilarious..." Stiles said, raising his voice, he looked more than annoyed then, he looked hurt.
That wasn't ever your intention. Stiles was fun to annoy, sure, but just because he looked cute when he was angry. You never wanted to genuinely hurt him, ever.
"Hey, dude, I didn't mean it like that-" you tried to explain, but got cut off.
"Let's just start this stupid project." he said, fetching his notebook out of his backpack.
"Stiles." you said, and that was enough to grab his attention, "Look, I'm sorry. For real, I am sorry that I upset you. I shouldn't have said those things, okay? I'm sorry." you told him.
Stiles looked shocked to say the least. "Okay. It's okay. I-it doesn't matter."
"Yes, it does! Listen, I make fun of you a lot, but it's never because I wanna hurt you or to make you feel bad. I see that my words do hurt you sometimes, so I'm sorry."
"It's not that all your insults hurt me. It's just that a bunch of people have been giving me a hard time b-because, because of... well, y'know."
"I'll beat the shit outta them." you said, bluntly.
Stiles chuckled, "Maybe don't?"
"Yes, I fuckin' will! Only I can pick on you, okay? Everyone else? Unacceptable. They can find their own nerds, this ones reserved for my Nickelodeon insults."
You both laughed.
"And hey, umm..." you said, unsure of what you wanted to say. Well, you knew what you wanted to say, you just didn't know how. It was as if you couldn't push your words past your lips.
"Yes?" Stiles said, expectantly.
Well, you were in deep shit now, might as well, "If it makes you feel any better, I'm gay too."
"Wait, seriously?"
"Yeah, well, actually, I'm queer. I haven't found a more suitable label than that. I don't know, maybe I'm bi? Or pan, like you? I just know I'm attracted to people regardless of gender." you said, looking down, a bit embarrassed, "I haven't told anyone yet, you're the first one to know."
"Why tell me of all people?" Stiles asked, curiosity clear on his face.
"Well, because I wanted you to know you're not alone." you said, then decided to add, "And because you're kinda... my only friend."
An uncomfortable silence settled between you too, you were embarrassed, maybe you shouldn't have said that.
"Sorry, that was pathetic, umm... let's just get to the project?"
"No! No, it wasn't, I just, I didn't think you'd see me as your friend. I thought you just liked messing with me."
"I'm sorry that I made you feel like that. I just thought... I didn't see that my teasing could pass off as more than teasing. I didn't mean to be a big bad bully or something, I just, that's how I..." you trailed off, what if what you were about to say was too much?
"How you what?" Stiles asked.
"How I... how I show my affection. Okay? That's just how I do it."
Silence fell between you two once again, but this time, he broke it.
"Y'know, you could try a hug instead?"
You looked at him and snorted, "That does seem more efficient, I'll give you that one, Bilinski." you said.
Both of you laughed. "Okay, let's get to that project. No more sappy bullshit for the day, and don't think that just because I was vulnerable once I'm going soft on ya, alright, shit head."
"There you are!" Stiles said, a smile on his face.
***
"Well, that was painful." you said stretching, pleased that the project was finally done.
"Oh, c'mon, it wasn't that bad." he said.
"Speak for yourself, fuck-face, you actually understand biology, unlike the majority of the class, myself included."
"Well, it's not that hard once you actually get the hang of it." he blabbered, "You just have to study more."
"Y'sound like my mom. And for your information, I do study. Well, I try to anyway. But nothing sticks, okay? Me small brain monkey person." you said, getting up and grabbing you and Stiles a Coke each from the fridge.
"Like, you can't concentrate or you just don't understand what you're reading?" he asked.
"I just think I don't know how to study. I tried rewriting my notes, repeating it out loud over and over, flashcards, but none of it works."
"We can study together if you want?" he offered.
You were really surprised, you'd think he wouldn't wanna spend his time with the person who's been terrorizing him. "Wait, for real? You'd wanna teach me?" you asked.
"Sure. Look, I don't hate you, it's just that you're annoying most of the time." he shrugged, smiling a bit.
"Could say the same for you." you said, returning his smile
Stiles took a sip of his Coke, then checked the clock on his phone. "Shit." he said, "It's 9:30. I should've been home half an hour ago. Gotta bounce."
"Oh, okay." you said.
You followed Stiles to the door and opened it for him, all while talking about the project and how you're gonna bring it so that Stiles doesn't have to carry it.
"Well, guess I'll see you at school."
"Y'know you said my name earlier?" he said, out of the blue.
"No, I haven't."
"Yes, you definitely have, you went: 'Stiles! I am so sorry I hurt you! Oh, Mr. Stiles! I'm deeply sorry I made you feel bad!'" he said, mocking your voice, while batting his eyelashes.
"Oh, fuck off, dickwad. I definitely didn't say your name, and I don't talk like that." you said, punching him in the arm.
"Ow! Yo! Again, people usually go for hugs, maybe a pat on the back?"
"But that's no fun, is it, Bilinski? Now go home, your dad's gonna whoop your ass if you aren't in bed and snoring when he gets home."
"Okay, I'll go. Don't forget the project. If you leave it at home I'll come here and shove the whole thing up your ass."
"Mm, kinky. At least ask me to dinner first!"
"Okay, I'm out." Stiles said.
"Bye, nerd." you told him.
"Don't miss me too much." he responded.
You closed the door and for some reason felt dizzy, lightheaded, and warm all over. You looked into the mirror of your hallway and saw that your face was red.
You didn't know what was happening, but you knew one thing, Stiles Stilinski was growing on you, and you hated every second of it.
peter is disastrously bad at talking about how he feels. friends to lovers!
NOTE: tysm @gotkindabored for helping me post this, and also being all-around lovely! pls go easy on me, im VERY rusty :)
Tumblr media
“Hey you,”
She hears it from the familiar corner of her bedroom, one that she’s used to. He sounds hoarse and out of breath, and his suit is slick with rainwater. She looks beautiful, of course. There isn’t a moment of the day she doesn’t steal his breath.
“Peter,” she says, voice low and careful, but even still- he can hear the honey-sweet affection his name is spoken through, “You’re early tonight, huh?”
He cracks a smile, and looks her over- he can’t help it.
He fell on her fire escape, one night. Her crappy college apartment, a shared place with her own room. It was months ago, feels like decades now. Of course, he knew who she was before that night. He knew she was the kind girl, who smiled at him every time she passed him in the hallways. He’s had a crush on her since was ten, when she offered him a chocolate bar the day after Halloween, when Aunt May had just packed a granola bar.
Pancakes, flannels and Henry Cavill
Tumblr media
Peter Parker x GN! Reader
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: Using of pet names: doll, bunny
Disclaimer: You can imagine any portrayal of Peter for this fic! Also, I take requests! If you have any leave them down below! Please just keep in mind that I don't write smut! <3
***
The sun woke you up gently, it peeked through your blinds, a pleasant reminder that you had to wake up and give the world your all, once again.
You rolled to the other side of the bed, expecting to be met by your boyfriend's sleeping form, much to your surprise, the bed was empty.
You got up and looked around, empty bedroom, open window, open wardrobe with clothes hanging on the doors of it. Peter had woken up before you. Early bird catches the worm, you s'ppose.
You made your way towards the kitchen where you saw your boyfriend. He was making coffee.
"Mornin'." he said looking at you, "I woke up earlier, thought I'd make you breakfast and coffee."
Peter pointed at a plate of pancakes covered with chocolate syrup and strawberries that sat on your kitchen table.
"You made that for me?" you asked in disbelief, the sweet gesture melting your heart, "Did you make yourself some too?"
"Nah, I'll just drink my coffee. M'not that hungry." he said.
You walked over to your boyfriend and gave him a big hug, before looking up at him and saying, "You gotta eat, dumbass, you can't just survive on caffeine."
"Watch me, bunny." Peter teased, kissing the top of your head.
"Peter! Please eat." you whined.
"Hey, quit your whinin', okay? Can't take it this early in the morning."
You grabbed your boyfriend's hand and dragged him over to the table.
"Sit." you commanded, making Peter roll his eyes.
He sat down, you sitting on the chair next to him. You cut a piece of pancake along with a strawberry and picked it up with your fork.
"Now open up, bug boy." you said.
"What am I? Five years old? You wanna do the choo choo train as well?" he asked, mocking the fact that you wanted to feed him.
"Shh! Less talking, more eating." you told him, taking the fork to your boyfriend's mouth.
Peter opened his mouth and ate the bite of food you gave him, after that, he sighed and said: "You'll kill me one of these days."
"Aw! I love you too, Peter!" you exclaimed, teasing your boyfriend.
"Okay, now you eat, I'll go take a shower."
"Nonono! You're staying here and eating with me, I'll have a bite, then you'll have a bite."
"But then there'll be less food for you." Peter said, frowning.
"Don't worry about it, there's plenty for both of us."
Peter smiled at you and placed a hand on your leg. "You're the best lover ever, doll."
"I try my best." you said, beginning to eat.
"Y/n, is that my flannel?" Peter asked, knowing the answer already.
After a small pause you said, "Y'know, these are really good pancakes."
"You haven't answered my question." Peter pressed, a smirk on his face.
"What question? You asked me something?" you told him, playing dumb.
Peter laughed, "You're impossible, did you know?"
"Hey, in my defense your flannels are soft and they smell great, okay?"
"Mm, understandable."
***
After you and Peter finished the pancakes you guys ended up cuddling on the couch while watching "The Witcher".
"Y'know, if I didn't already know I'm pansexual I'd consider Henry Cavill my gay awakening." your boyfriend said.
"He's a fine lookin' man." you agreed with him.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Peter said, clearly offended.
"What? I just agreed with you!" you defended yourself.
"You can't just say other men are attractive in my presence! I'm fragile!"
"Awh, my baby's sensitive, isn't he?" you asked, mocking your boyfriend.
You looked at him and gave him a light and sweet kiss, before pulling away and saying, "Don't worry, handsome boy, I only love you."
