its rant time.
before i say anything i wanna say this isnt wanda or tony neg i love them both but this has to be said
something that makes me really mad is the way wanda stans constantly blame tony for her ending up in the prison in civil war. tony was the reason she wouldnt have been in that situation if team cap just left her there.
tony keeping her locked away, as horrible as it sounds at first, he was trying to protect her from the only bad thing rhat happened to her in civil war. her being in the prison she entirely brought upon her self and i fully stand by that
im not a massive fan of tony stark i will admit, but tony wasnt responsible for what happened to wanda in cw.

I was in the military and had an (entirely silly and in no way serious) argument with a shipmate about Hal Jordan while waiting around for some range training. I fucking hate the guy, think he's a loser and that Guy Gardner, Jon Stewart, and Kyle Rayner ALL rank well above him- the head fuck-o at the training place took me out of the room and tried to intimidate me.... over a comic book character.... He also docked points off my pistol score. Some stans are just like that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Jesus Christ anon that is MUCH worse than arguing over a locket lmao I'm so sorry for your experience.

Mind Games
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: wanda maximoff x female reader
word count: 2.6k?
summary: gf!wanda maximoff; reader makes a joke about Wanda invading their mind while they have sex, Wanda takes it a little too seriously and y/n makes it up to her with apologies and a little seduction.
warnings: 18+, two second mommy kink, slight electrocution (if that’s even what you’d call it), smut for sure, oh yeah mind reading (major), mind altering? (slight? not really, just trippy Wanda powers)
a/n: like I’ve said I DONT WRITE so help me out pls n thank yewwwww, comments and criticism send it my way; I also put a random placeholder title in with the intention to change it so if it changes,,, sorry
————————————————————————————
“Since you’re already in my brain when we fuck…” you joke, glancing up at your girlfriend’s face.
And the reaction was not what you were expecting.
“Y/n, are you being serious right now?” Her previous smile has faded, eyebrows dropped in confusion, and the light that had just sparkled her eyes, begins to darken. In one shitty second, you’ve ruined the entire conversation.
“I- I didn’t mean it like that, it was a joke, you know, cuz… I, I just think, I kind of maybe thought-“
“What did you think? Better yet, what do you think of me, y/n?” Wanda scoots back, accustomed to people’s fear and intimidation of her powers, but you were different. From the day Tony brought you in, you’d shown loyalty to the program, and especially in her. Both of you had a sense of “uncontrollability” in your powers, causing your teammates to occasionally get alarmed. This bonded you two like no one else, until one day when you gave up and kissed her.
“Wanda, I’m sorry,” allowing her to keep the distance, but staring into green eyes, you truthfully whisper, “I don’t think anything negatively of you, I trust you more than anyone I’ll ever know. So to me it’s not an invasion of space, but I’m so sorry to ever make you feel like you’re-”
“A mind voyeur? Y/n, you know how I feel about consent and using my powers for…”
“I know! I know!” This time you inch closer, daring to place your hands in her lap. “You’re just…soo…soooo good, I didn’t know if it was all this,” your hands slowly crawl from her thighs, up to her waist, shoulders, then finally landing on her temples, “or if you just had a little bit of help. There’s just no way you know my body that well, is there?” You place a kiss on her forehead, knowing what this is doing to her.
Wanda attempts to hide the tremble her body lets out as your lips part from her skin, but you notice it all too well and decide to take things up just a notch. Slipping onto her lap, you straddle her on the couch in the Avengers compound living room.
“Y/n, what the hell are you doing?” Her voice is low, but you can hear the slight rasp in tone.
You begin attacking her neck with small, delicate kisses before speaking, “I trust you Wands and I love you so much,” another kiss, “don’t you want to know how much I love you?” and one on the jawline, “Aren’t you just a little tempted to hear all of the things I think about-” and the last one, right under her ear, “while you fuck me?”
Wanda grabs ahold of your waist, involuntarily grinding into you before collecting herself. “Hey, I thought you already were telling me everything?” Her head tilts and she gives you a warning smirk.
But you’re not allowing her to regain composure so easily, so you play the brat card. “I was, but I guess I’ll be silent from now on,” a fake pout.
She smirks at your mischievous nature and tests your words, snaking her hands up your sides. They sneak under your shirt and the feeling of her warm digits against your bare skin drives you mad. You stay strong in holding silent, even when her fingertips graze past your chest for what feels like a millisecond. Though you manage to stay quiet, you’re quivering and shuddering with each swift movement of her fingertips. Every part of you she touches leaves a trail of goosebumps and leaves you in an even more soiled state than before.
Suddenly, she stops and you’re brought back to your senses, panting and groaning on top of her, “you’re an asshole,” the joke is obvious considering your small argument before. An argument that may change our entire sex lives.
“And you kept your word!” Wanda removes her hands from beneath your tee as you grin and nod at her, almost genuinely proud of your own self.
“Then it looks like I’ll need to get inside your mind, huh?” Your smile fades as the realization of the situation dawns on you. If you could see yourself, you were sure your eyes had turned black with lust, but everything happened so quick there was no time to care.
“We’re not doing this here,” Wanda quickly bolts up from the couch, with you still gracefully in her lap, and whisks the two of you away to your shared room down the hall. Before you even know it, she’s on all fours above you and you’re pressed into the sheets of the bed.
“Tell me you want this,” once again, lustful hands are tracing the sways and curves of your body. Occasionally she plants a kiss, some harder than others, sometimes she bites and sucks, marking you as hers.
Your head rocks back and you let your mind run wild. Please, please, please, Wanda. I’m yours, mark me everywhere. I’m only yours. Take over me.
You know she’s begun making her way into your brain because that last remark causes her to stop in her tracks. “Y/n?”
When your eyes meet, you pray she’s still there— my mind is yours Wanda. You can do anything you want with me, I just want you.
The red instantly washes any reminiscence of green from her eyes and you let out a salacious moan at the sight.
Wanda crawls up for the most lustful kiss she’s quite possibly ever given you. Her tongue doesn’t bother ask for entrance as it swirls around to find yours. The two of you can’t seem to find a sweet spot to place your hands, traveling up and down both of your sides, every now and then one of you reaches up and grabs a fistful of the other’s hair, eliciting numerous whimpers. Mainly from you.
“Fuck—” you accidentally let out between kissing. Feeling her smirk against your lips you try this mind reading thing again. Fuck. Me. Wands.
A small growl chokes out of Wanda. You like this? You think as you stare at her again, the eyes turning you on more and more by each second. You like hearing my disgusting, dirty thoughts Wanda? You’re normally not this vulgar, or this submissive but you can see what it’s doing to her, which drives you insane.
Your obscenity was obviously making Wanda frantic. You’d never seen her eyes this red before. Sometimes they would tint when she came in the past, but now they were fully glowing scarlet red with no green in sight. You were sure to be soaked.
“Let’s check that, shall we?” She grinned. To your surprise, but not disappointment, she’d gotten into your subconscious thoughts. Fuck, every part of you felt exposed and in the best way.
“You don’t know this yet detka, but you’re going to like this very much,” she whispers in your ear before pinning your hands above your head. When you glance down you see small red particles dance over the tips of her fingers. “It’s not going to hurt—” she reassures your initial fear of the unknown, before her smile fades into lust and she continues, “it’s not going to hurt… at the beginning.”
Her tone and newly found dominance destroys any sense of stability you thought you had. You and Wanda have had sex before, numerous times actually, but you’d both been too nervous to show each other these, rawer sides.
She stays true to her word and starts slow. You’re both incredibly carnal, but this is still very new.
She places a kiss down on your chest, then in the exact spot you feel a slight shock. Again, a kiss that is soon replaced with a jolt. Another, this time lowering toward your waistline. Wanda annoyingly tugs at your pants and it takes you less than a second to have them off. The red eyes make contact with yours, “why don’t you just get rid of everything, baby.”
After nodding, you quickly remove the rest of your clothing articles, revealing yourself completely for her.
You’re an absolute mess underneath Wanda, whimpering and quivering as she stares down at your nude and utterly revealed self. Please, Wanda. Keep going. Harder this time.
“God, y/n—“ she moans and resumes absolutely toying with you, giving you an overwhelming mixture of kisses and shocks in between speaking. “I knew you’d like it but I didn’t realize how much I would…” she purrs and turns it up a notch, the jolts getting stronger and more aggressive with each sloppy kiss.
She trails her hand down so delicately toward where you’ve been begging. A harsh shock between your legs forces out a moan so loud you’re worried someone might have heard. Wanda immediately covers your mouth, “sorry, I could have known that was coming,” but it’s obvious she isn’t sorry as she jolts you again, even harder. Thankfully, her opposing hand is there to cover your mouth and any noise gets suppressed behind the woman’s digits.
She’s completely invaded your mind. She knows exactly what you like. All of your horrible, dirty secrets and thoughts and you can’t help but moan again at the thought. If you thought she knew you before, fuck, did she know you now.
“You’re mine, yes?” Her eyes bore into yours and the devilish grin almost sends you over the edge. You’re near done for and she hasn’t even touched you anywhere significant yet.
Struggling to get the words out over your trembling state and her nearly muzzling you, she removes her left hand, allowing you a quick moment of recollection. Her right hand traces up your body so slow it’s near torturous, “shh, patience detka.” You nearly pass out when she gets to your chest and slowly traces around your nipple. She teases it harshly for a minute, before continuing up your collarbone, to your neck and finally she rests her hand on your chin. Her eyes start to glow harder when she takes her hand and traces your lips with her fingertips. For a moment you keep your lips pursed shut, but when you look up at her you slowly drop your jaw and she slips two fingers inside.
“That’s it detka, suck. Such a good girl,” Wanda praises your efforts in lubricating her digits, allowing you to showcase skills you don’t normally use. The sight made her dizzy and she did everything in her power to apply the patience lesson to herself, instead of just taking you right then and there.
Because you were absolutely begging. She could hear it and feel it. Wanda’s powers were doing more than she even knew were possible, which is why she avoided using them in sexual circumstances. Her irrational fear that they would get out of hand.
But this was more than okay, she could hear you pleading to be filled, your moans enveloped Wanda’s mind like you were the one with magical powers. She could feel exactly where you wanted to be touched, each and every spot. But what burned the most was the feeling in her own core, which had to be the replication of what you were feeling and she notices she’s been teasing you long enough now.
She pulls her fingers from your mouth and for a second you’re disappointed. You knew she couldn’t feel it, but you’d got so caught up, it felt as if you were pleasing her. “Don’t be upset y/n, I liked it just as much as you, I just want to put these somewhere else. I think we’ll both still enjoy it.”
Though her fingers go absent from your mouth, they’re replaced by her tongue as her left hand pulls you in for second kiss. The right makes its way to your folds, slowly teasing your overly sensitive area. You’re absolutely drowning in the kiss when Wanda slowly pushes her fingers toward your entrance.
Please, please, please.
“Out. Loud.” She commands through the lustful kisses.
“P-pu-ple-“ she grazes slightly over your clit, “fuCK! Wanda,” she knows she’ll ruin you with teasing. “Fuck me. Please. I need you now Wands.”
The slight movements quickly turn into swift back and forth flicks. “Are you sure?” She questions blankly, clearly toying with you.
“God, Wanda,” trying to regain any composure, “Yes, I’ve been begging, what else do you want from me?” You manage to get out.
“I want you to finally address me how you’ve been wanting to,” she picks up her pace and your hips start to move along with her fingertips.
At first you’re truthfully confused. But it may not be confusion, your brain is actually just clouded with lust. It takes only 5 seconds of Wanda playing with your clit for you to realize what she’s talking about.
Shit.
“Don’t be embarrassed detka, it’s quite sexy. I’m rather upset you haven’t told me sooner”
Wanda…
You know of no other way to say it than in the smallest, neediest whimper you can muster, “please fuck me mommy.”
She smiles, “such a good girl,” and her two fingers drop from your clit to your entry. “Look at me,” she orders and you comply, getting completely lost in the crimson orbs. They flash once as her fingers dive inside you, eliciting lewd moans from both parties.
“God, y/n, you’re so fucking wet,” she starts slow, pumping in and out, knowing the pace destroys you, she mocks, “oh detka, you want more?”
You don’t just want more, you need more and Wanda gives just that and then some. She picks up the tempo and curls her fingertips, delicately tormenting your lower half.
Your hands grasp and pull at locks of her hair. The harder the tug, the deeper her digits descend inside you. A panting mess beneath her, Wanda locks lips with yours once again. This time it nearly takes your breath away.
She continues the rapid pace and feeling your heart rate heighten, ends the kiss for just a second to instruct, “cum for mommy, y/n.”
“Shit—” you can’t help the profanities slipping from your lips as she places hungry kisses down your jawline, “—fuck Wanda, I’m…”
“You don’t think I know?” she finds a spot and bites down unexpectedly hard, eliciting a carnal cry from you. “Now, do as you’re told, love, you’re already getting so tight for me.”
For a second you’ve forgotten that she’s been in your mind this entire time. She knows exactly where each and all of your sweet spots are and is manipulating every single one to the highest extent. Your girlfriend, who never wanted to use her powers for this was now playing and fucking with your every sense. You. Loved. It.
And just like that the orgasm completely enveloped you. Grinding and riding against her fingers, you couldn’t begin to think about who may have been hearing your jumbled whimpers, as you no longer had any control. Your incoherent string of murmurs soon were drowned out as she leans into you, your mouth finding its way into the crook of her neck. Biting down gently, she doesn’t slow her pace as she lets you ride out your orgasm and you almost come again when her hair falls over your face. You knew the Ambrette 9 smell anywhere, it was her favorite and you’ve been enamored with it ever since she walked into the boardroom and was seated next to you on a mission briefing. The smell intoxicated you the whole damn time.
“Didn’t know you’ve been into me since day one,” she giggles and gently removes the two fingers from you, drawing out yet another moan. Her hand draws slowly to her lips, where she licks you clean off her fingers.
“Quit!” Playfully pushing her hand away, “Maybe you should have just gone in my head the first day we met, huh?”
Wanda snickers at your remark and pulls the covers over the two of you, then pulls you in for a loving embrace.
“Glad I didn’t… I wouldn’t have been able to be in the same room with you and those naughty thoughts.”

“Ok, your turn, Kill Bill. Two truths and a lie, go.” Tony says, referring to the fact that you fight with swords, making you roll your eyes before you join in on the laughter.
“Ok, uhm...” you try not to look at anyone so you don’t give away the answer “I have a teddy bear that I sleep with, I have bungee jumped from the top of the tower and I’ve never had a New Year’s kiss.”
You look back up to the room and wait for their guesses.
It’s a Friday night and the people that remained in the Tower for the holidays decided to have a little game night.
Every year the same people stay around, having nowhere in particular to go, and spend Christmas together.
Clint and Scott usually spend this time with their families, this year Thor decided to go to New Asgard with Bruce and Loki to visit Val and Korg, and Peter decided to spend it with aunt May and Happy.
You usually alternate between going to visit your family and staying in the tower each year, and this one was your turn to go to your first home.
You came back the day after Christmas, never being one to miss Tony’s New Year’s Eve party that’s gonna happen in two days now.
“Well, we know she has a teddy bear.” Wanda says.
“Do we know that?” Tony turns to you, narrowing his eyes. “Do you have one?”
“Yes, she does, we’ve seen it” Natasha answers for you while you glance at Bucky, praying he doesn’t put together that they’re talking about the teddy bear he gifted you for Valentine’s Day this year along with flowers.
Natasha and Wanda were more happy than you when you told them, sustaining that he did it because he liked you until you pointed out that he gave flowers to them too, because he’s sweet and a gentleman and that’s just who he is.
They wouldn’t let up on the fact that neither of them got a teddy bear though, and you would have agreed with them but Bucky never really did anything else about it so you decided to let it go and not read too much into it.
You're brought back to the present by Tony.
“Ok, so she has one. Then it’s gotta be the New Year’s kiss, everyone has had one at least once in their life,” he was looking at your reaction very closely while talking, but you did your best to keep an easy smile and not give anything away.
“Even Captain Virgin over there had one last year.” he adds vaguely waving towards Steve’s general direction.
You crack at the nickname and at the undignified sound Steve made while blushing and glancing at Nat that shared that kiss with him.
“Tony, there’s no way that she bungee jumped from the roof without us knowing, that’s gotta be the lie.” Sam interjects, also watching you closely for any signs of a reaction that you manage not to give.
“Alright, just take your guesses, people.” You say to the group.
“New Year’s Kiss.” Tony all but yelled, Natasha and Wanda agreeing with him.
“Bungee jump.” Sam says and Steve and Bucky agree, then they all seem to hold their breath as they wait for your answer.
It’s not a surprise that even these stupid little games cause a lot of competition amongst the team.
“Neither.”-you finally said and let out a laugh when they all groan in annoyance while taking their shots for guessing wrong.
“WAIT- you bungee jumped off the ROOF? When?!” Steve seems more concerned than anything.
“Well, you know a few months ago when we happened to all be on different missions at the same time?” They nod, not knowing where you're going with this “Clint and I came back first from ours, we were bored and there was no one around to stop us from doing anything stupid so…” you trail off, shrugging while laughing.
Steve looks shocked, Sam is laughing his ass off while Tony immediately goes to look for the security footage.
They all cheered while watching you throw yourself off the roof, Clint's yells and laughter could be heard, and then Steve shakes his head while joining you in the laughter when you see Clint take his turn and scream like a little girl while you fall to the ground laughing on the video.
Once you all composed yourselves, Tony pokes Wanda’s arm “I thought you said she had a teddy bear.” he's looking at her like she brought him on a treasure hunt and then betrayed him and left him for dead on a deserted island.
“She does! She got it from-” you interrupt her before she can finish the sentence, blushing a little and avoiding Bucky’s eyes.
“I do have a teddy bear, I just don’t sleep with it.” you say, shrugging.
“Oh, come on, that’s cheating!” Natasha whines.
“It’s really not, just because I do have one it doesn’t mean I didn’t tell a lie about it” you laugh at her pout.
“Wait a minute, so you’ve never had a New Year’s kiss?” Tony looks at you like you suddenly grew two heads.
“It’s not a big deal. Funny thing is, I have had boyfriends during New Year’s Eve, I just never happen to spend the day with them.” you say absentmindedly while thinking back at all the parties you’ve been to over the years to celebrate the new year.
“Really?” it's so quiet you almost missed it, your eyes snapping up to meet Bucky’s that were already looking at you.
“Is that so hard to believe?” The room seems to go quiet as everybody looks at you two, but you're too focused on each other to notice.
“I didn’t- I mean…” his cheeks started to turn a little pink as he seemed to have trouble finishing his sentence “It’s just you’re very pretty, who wouldn’t want to kiss you?”
You didn’t know what to say to that, you start blushing too while opening and closing your mouth a couple of times, looking like a damn fish.
You settle for a quiet ‘thank you’ with a smile that he shyly returns, neither of you noticing the glances passed by everyone else.
The whole team is convinced that there’s something between you and Bucky, but both of you always deny it and don’t seem to read too much into each other’s actions, always dismissing the glances and lingering touches as friendly affection even though you’re not really that close.
But really what else could it be?
The team lets the moment end and the game goes on, everyone keeps drinking and having fun until it gets really late and you all decide to call it a night.
Bucky goes to his bedroom and gets ready for sleep but he can’t seem to focus on anything else but you.
He really doesn’t understand how can anybody see your pretty self when you’ve just woken up, no makeup and your eyes full of sleep and not want to kiss you, let alone when you are all dolled up in a pretty golden dresses like you do every New Year’s.
Every year it gets harder for him not to just grab you and kiss you, hell every day is pretty much torture to see you around the Compound and not get to be with you the way he wants to.
But he has to keep his hands to himself because there’s no way you could actually like him like that.
He’s even tried to drop hints here and there like giving you the teddy bear for Valentine’s Day but, except for the cute shade of pink that your face turned, you still didn’t seem all that interested.
Still, that didn’t stop him from thinking what it would be like if you did like him and fantasize about being your first New Year’s kiss and maybe even your last first kiss.
At the same time you were in your own room getting ready for bed while your own thoughts kept going back to the moment you shared with Bucky in the living room.
You didn’t know if you were more embarrassed because you actually told the team you’ve never had a kiss on New Year’s Eve or happy because Bucky called you pretty.
If it was anyone else you wouldn’t even think twice about it, but coming from him it just felt like you were being complimented for the first time ever.
Everytime you thought about it you felt all warm and fuzzy inside, and at this point the moment was pretty much on loop in your mind.
The more you think about it the more you feel your face heat up, sleep not coming easily as you slip into Bucky filled dreams.
The next day everybody’s hanging out in the living room, most of them nursing a hangover from last night. You get ready for a last minute shopping trip to try and find a new dress for New Year’s Eve.
When you get to the living room you see Steve grinning at a disgruntled Tony, Wanda, Sam and Natasha who are obviously very hangover and nowhere near as amused as the blonde supersoldier.
Bucky’s attention is on you as soon as you're in his field of vision and no one fails to notice it, except you of course, your own attention on Wanda and Natasha sprawled on the couch.
“Well, I was gonna ask you if you wanted to come shopping with me,” you start watching from one to the other, as amused as Steve at everyone’s inability to contain themselves when drinking. “but I don’t think that’s happening.”
“Bite me, YLN.” Is all Nat says.
Wanda, on the other hand, is a little gentler. “I can come with you, if you want.” she says sweetly.
“That’s okay, Wands.” you smile at her “just rest and drink lots of water.”
You turn around, saying bye to everyone and making your way out. As soon as the doors of the elevator close, everyone turns to Bucky that's not even pretending not to be staring anymore.
Not that anyone could ignore the longing look on Bucky’s face as he watches you walk away.
“Buck,” Steve starts talking, glancing at everyone before setting his gaze back on his best friend. “we need to talk.”
“Okay…” he slowly drags out, unsure if he even wants Steve to keep going.
“Well, we’ve been noticing some things lately…” He’s unsure of how to say this. “Between you and Y/N.”
Bucky’s cheeks start to turn a slight shade of pink, but he’s still not sure where Steve’s going with this so he says nothing.
“So we thought” he gestures around at everybody. “that maybe we should-”
“We know you like her, and we want to help you get with her.” Tony interrupts Steve, quickly getting to the point.
At Steve’s glare, Tony merely raises his hands in surrender saying, “Listen, Capsicle, I’m way too hungover to take the panoramic route. Let’s just get this over with.”
“Yeah, Stark’s right.” Sam says, turning Bucky whose face is fully red now. “You have a weak ass game, man. Let us help you.”
They all look at the brunette supersoldier while waiting for his answer. He chews on his lip while looking at the expectant faces of his friends, before letting out a deep sigh.
“How would you even help me?” He says quietly, neither accepting nor denying their help just yet.
“Well, we know Y/N,” Wanda says.
“Yeah, we can tell you what turns her on.” Natasha smirked, before Wanda flicks her ear making her let out an ‘ow’ with a slight pout.
“What she means is,” she glares at Natasha “we can tell you what she likes, you know. Maybe help you get closer to her.”
Bucky shakes his head lightly “This is not a good idea. And it doesn’t even matter if she doesn’t like me.”
Wanda and Natasha seem to have a silent conversation, ending with Natasha raising her eyebrow at Wanda and Wanda just sighing with a soft ‘fine’.
“She does like you.” Wanda turns back to Bucky.
“She’s just convinced that you don’t like her like that.” Natasha says with a roll of her eyes.
Bucky still wasn’t completely convinced, but he agreed nonetheless. Maybe it was the glimmer of hope the girls gave him, but if there was even the slightest chance you could actually like him, he owed it to himself to try.
So he let the team make a plan to get you guys together, hoping to god he wouldn’t come to regret it.
You come home a few hours later, super excited to have found the perfect dress for the party the next night.
Bucky thought you were just so cute, all smiles and giggles.
Wanda and Nat talked you into having the last girls night of the year, although it didn’t really take much convincing.
And so the plan begins.
You’re relaxing on your bed, Wanda lying next to you, your head on her lap, and Nat sprawled on the love seat near the window close to your bed.
You’re wearing bathrobes, sheet masks on your faces as you watch a cheesy romcom that you’re so embarrassingly into you don’t even notice the girls exchange a look and nod at each other.
Wanda clears her throat and then begins talking, as casually as she can. “So, how come you never told us you never had a New Year’s kiss?”
They had to approach the subject somehow, right?
“I don’t know,” you say absentmindedly and then shrug, your attention still on the Tv. “didn’t think it was important.”
“Sure it isn’t.” Nat said, and her tone took your attention away from the movie for the first time since it started.
“What’s that supposed to mean, Tasha?” she simply shrugs, an innocent look in the face.
“It doesn’t mean anything” she says, her attention seemingly on the movie “I mean, if it doesn’t bother you, it doesn’t bother me.”
“Why would it bother me?” you frown, you don't understand what's so weird about this.
“Well, some people might find it a little…” Wanda trails off.
“Sad?” Natasha ends for her.
“It’s not like I’ve never kissed anyone.” you're starting to get a little defensive.
“We know that, sweetie.” Wanda coos, stroking your hair while you look up at her.
“We really didn’t mean anything by it.” Natasha ends, giving you an apologetic look.
“Yeah, whatever.” is all you say, and you turn your eyes back to the tv, your attention nowhere near it.
Natasha and Wanda can basically hear the gears turn in your head and give each other one last glance.
Part one of the plan is complete.
The next day goes through like usual, the team spending basically the whole morning together.
It’s a tradition, having the last breakfast of the year together, watching the last movie, having the last lunch and so on. Doing all the lasts together.
It’s silly, but it’s a tradition you've all come to be very fond of.
The afternoon comes and you and the girls spend it getting ready for the party, last night’s conversation almost forgotten.
Almost.
As you got to the party the music was deafening before you even stepped out of the elevator and, once you did, you were immediately immersed in a sea of perfume and cologne and, like every other Stark party extravaganza, you didn’t know about 98% of the people there.
You quickly find the team, as outgoing as most of them are, you usually spend most of the night together because it’s the last night of the year, last party and, again, it's your tradition.
You talk, you joke, you laugh but the more you drink the more you keep thinking about your conversation with the girls last night.
Was it really that sad that you’ve never started a new year with a kiss?
Midnight came sooner than you would’ve liked and your teammates decide to ask you a sobering question.
“So, who are you kissing?” Tony asks very casually.
You turn around confused, the team’s eyes all on you. “What are you talking about?”
“Oh, nobody told you?” Sam says, looking around him “We’re all kissing someone tonight.”
“I- You- What?” you glance towards Bucky so quickly he almost thought he imagined it.
“Well, Romanoff is kissing Rogers, I’m obviously kissing Pepper and Wanda is kissing Wilson.” Tony said, before specifying while pointing at the last two “As friends, obviously.”
“So, you’re all kissing someone?” You look at everyone except the one person you actually want to look at.
Something inside of you just believes that he would nod too and a beautiful woman that you could never compare to would appear at his side.
“Well,” Steve starts. “not all of us…”
He trails off and, following his gaze, you land on the very pair of blue eyes you were trying to avoid.
Suddenly everyone else scatters and it was just you and Bucky. You don't know what to say, but you feel like you can't look away from him now.
What the hell is happening to you?
You’re talking before you can even stop yourself “You know, we could also kiss. As friends.” you add, realizing what you just said, your eyes wide with your own surprise.
He’s about to say something, but you don’t give him a chance to get a sound out before you’re backtracking so fast you might actually fall out the window.
“You don’t have to. Obviously. It’s not like I’d make you.” you chuckled awkwardly, but you can’t stop yourself from rambling “Unless you wanted to. But why would you want to? It’s not like you’re missing anything. I’m not anything special.”
You can hear the countdown starting, but it sounds distant to your ears as your heart pounds faster. “I mean, I’m sure you’re a good kisser. Why wouldn’t you be? Not that you’re like a lady’s man.”
Bucky glances around him, the team giving him encouraging looks as they near zero and you just keep going “But like you were, you know. Not that it’s a bad thi-”
You're thankfully interrupted abruptly by Bucky’s lips on yours just as everyone yells ‘Happy New Year’ and gold and black confetti starts falling down on you.
You can't even begin to comprehend what's happening but your body does, kissing him back almost immediately.
It feels like forever and also too soon when he pulls away, you can't even hearing the chaos around you anymore.
All that exists is you and Bucky and his eyes and his arms around your waist and yours around his neck and his lips that you wanted to kiss again and kiss forever and never stop.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to do that” he says after a few seconds. Or maybe days. Weeks? Hours? It doesn’t matter.
All that matters is the bright smile he gives you when you say “Me too.”
He kisses you again, but this time the spell is broken by the team’s whistles and cheers.
When you pull away you’re both blushing a little, you glance around you and see all the smug faces of the idiots you love to death, Bucky’s attention never leaving you.
“And by the way,” Bucky says, gaining your attention once more. “you have more qualities than you think,” he then pointed at your chest “You have this.”
You looked down to where he was pointing before saying “I do have great tits, yes.”
When you looked back at him he was blushing even harder and looked like he was having a hard time maintaining eye contact, while you were more relaxed now that the kiss took away all the awkwardness, but trying hard not to laugh.
“... I meant heart” he said after a few moments of silence.
“Either or.” you answered, shrugging and when you heard the snickers of the team around you, you couldn’t help but join them, followed by a still blushing Bucky.
Yep, this year is definitely gonna be an interesting one.

It was a call from your brother. On the other end of the phone, he was begging you to come over and entertain them at dinner.
“It’s good to see you,” your brother had said earnestly when you had walked up. He wrapped you in a hug, one you sunk into.
“Tyler is at a friend’s place. It’s good for him to get out, he’s been struggling with friends.”
“He’s been doing fine at practice?”
He shuts the door behind you, “I mean at school, he’s been complaining that they’re immature.”
His wife calls from further in the house, appearing from a corner to come and greet you. She’s always been welcoming, but the relationship between you still feels fresh. The table was already set, the dishes laid out on the table.
“How’s Tyler been at practice other than the friends he’s been making?”
“Oh he’s picking it up well,” you slide the chair closest to the window out to sit, “cocky as ever, but he’s doing well.”
“Good. What do you think of the coach?”
An uncomfortable look is shared between him and his wife, it makes you feel small. The look they shared felt usually like they knew something you didn’t, or that they had to walk on eggshells around you.
“She’s great,” you defuse the silence, “We don’t have to talk about any of that, I’m moving on.”
“Sweet, we just care to check in,” she finally steps into the conversation. You could tell your brother wanted to hash it out yet again, saying it’s because he cares but you’ve said the conversations make it worse. When your mind wants to forget about it, the constant back-track doesn’t help.
“Tyler’s coach and I are talking.”
The sentence had him stuttering, shock written on his face, “when? And how?”
His wife has a similar look on her face, but the small smile on her face eases the pressure in your chest.
“The situation’s a bit different from how you two met. A man hit on me, remember what I talked about last week? She scared him off, we introduced ourselves, and started saying hi whenever we saw each other.”
He points a finger at you, “that’s different. Do you like her?”
“She slipped her number in my coat pocket, I’d say we’re both interested.”
“It probably took you a day to realize it was there.”
You attempt to hide your smile but it’s futile, and the two laughs at the sight. He sighs and leans back in his seat, no longer hunching over the table, “I also wanted to ask how your job’s been going? You still with that company?”
“I’m staying with them unless they refuse to give me a raise, the amount they’re giving is barely enough to cover rent.”
He hums, “if you need anything, we’re here.”
You smile as a thank you and divert the conversation away from you by asking about their lives. They’re always eager to, their body language becoming more open and relaxed once they begin to. It could be a result of overthinking, but at times you feel most conversations surrounding you are negative. The one you just had about your nephew’s coach was the first time you collectively connected positively.
.˚₊┈୨♡୧┈₊˚.
Within a second of closing the door to your apartment, your phone lit up the dark room. It was hurting your eyes, but you had never really cared to check who the recipient was until this moment. It wasn’t formatted properly, the text sent in a rush. The text read, “call me when you can,” just with random spacing and two misspelled words.
You debated waiting in hopes to seem hard to get, but you couldn’t wait any longer without hearing her voice. So you pressed on her contact, pressing your phone to your ear and sliding your shoes off in the foyer.
“Is everything alright,” you began, a small amount of concern bleeding into how you spoke.
“It can be,” she says, the pause between her words almost suffocating, “you deserve a nice dinner, and I will take you to one if you so wish to. But I have a formal event later tonight and need a plus one, I-“
“I’ll go as your plus one.”
“Oh wonderful. Thank you, thank you. I’ll come to your place at 9.”
She ends the call right after and you’re thankful she did. You can feel your heart fall out from your chest with the pitiful ache forming. If it were to be nerves or excitement, neither you nor your mind fully understands the difference.
With the lights now turned on it causes you to squint due to the sudden onset of light. You stumble to find your bedroom to open your window and let fresh air in. The projected event later that night turned your stomach into knots and mind into a blank slate of irrational anxiety. It was sudden and unexpected, but it was welcomed. What wasn’t welcomed was the following emotions, like anxiety.
The sun had settled under the surface, turning your room orange. With the sun lowering it set your alarm off. The tv across from you shut off and you slid off your bed.
Each minute passed while you got ready, and so did an alarm. Rather it was better to have three annoying alarms remind you of how much time you had than to be rushing out late. You had to remind yourself of that when it went off while you were in the shower, scaring you.
The parking lot was empty save for four cars in their assigned spots. Wanda had called earlier with questions on where you lived and if she had to do anything to get through the complex’s gate. Five minutes later here she was driving towards you.
A shaking hand reached towards the car door, opening it. She continued to watch you as you shut the door, you knew based off of feeling her eyes on you. It made your mind blank.
“I want to thank you again,” she admits, looking to you occasionally as she drives towards her friend’s estate. “It was last minute. I forgot about it until I saw the reminder on my phone.”
You smile at her, “you’re fine. What’s the event for?”
“My friend from college is getting married, this is some sort of together party. It doesn’t make sense and that’s just because they’re wealthy.“
“Who’s the wealthy one?”
“In a way both of their families are, but the bride’s family has a stable job set out for her.”
“How’d you meet?”
She stops at a red light, the color highlighting a side of her face when she turns towards you.
“She was in a class of mine. Connected over a terrible professor. I’m still surprised he still teaches there when all he does is read off of a slide show.”
You roll your eyes dramatically, “figures.”
When she parks, it’s behind a car brand you know is high on the market. It’s fun to dress nice, but it’s another thing when it feels like you’re playing dress up.
Wanda comes to your door, opening it for you and smiling when you fall forward into her. Your foot had fell between the crack of grass and concrete, twisting it and causing you to lean further into her chest.
“I don’t know anyone here expect for my friend, so you have no reason to fear me walking away. I’m in the same boat as you,” she whispers while shutting the car door behind you. A hand stays on your back as you two walk towards the lit up building.
The only awkward part of the night was when she greeted her friend, causing you to stand beside her as she did so. You pay it no mind though, appreciating the way she introduced you into the conversation. You give an occasional response, smiling politely to pass the time until they bid their goodbyes.
“I feel miserable,” she begins, walking you further into the house, “I dragged you into this.”
“You didn’t drag me into anything. I choose to come.”
She looks relieved, her expression now at ease. Her fingers grasp a glass near her, bringing it toward you for you to take.
“I would like to know you more,” she says while taking one for herself, “did you do another sport besides ice skating?”
“I tried soccer, hated it.”
She leans into the counter, facing sideways as compared to you. Her tone easy when she speaks, “what happened?”
“I didn’t like the competitive nature.”
“Did you competitive ice skating? What’s different?”
“You’re actively going against another team. I enjoy being competitive, I don’t like working with a team against another team.”
She hums, shaking her head in disbelief, “I would be crazy to believe that. I need to play with a team.”
You mock her hum, “of course you would.”
A faux offended expression comes on her face, “what’s that supposed to mean? Thought you said I’m a great coach.”
“You are, you just fit the criteria to enjoy a sport where you ram into others and shove a small puck around.”
“Is that why you said I’m a great coach?”
“You won’t let that go, huh?”
She scoots closer, “not until you tell me why.”
You roll your eyes a second time, laughing and pushing her back. She shrugs, “when a pretty woman compliments your teaching style, it’s important to know why so I can continue.”
You look at her incredulously. Unconsciously all nerves you had before beginning to fade away as the night continues. She’s easy to talk to and tease, a contrast from you’re used to.
“You’re genuine.”
“In what, I need more. In how I shove your nephew around? In what?”
“You’re an absolute dork. I mean in how you treat the boys, you care about them. Like you cultivate relationships with them. Even mix of stern and supportive.”
“Some coach expert you are, who’re you comparing me to.”
You have a choice to opt out, but she has an air of freedom. A feeling that you want to fall into more, so you open up that space.
“My mom.”
“Oh,” she gets closer, making your heart race, “I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright, she’s in jail now. Long gone.”
“Shit wow, okay,” Wanda laughs, an endearing grin on her face, “you’re full of history.”
A couple of drinks and long conversations later, you begin to pull away from the party. The atmosphere was calm on the drive home. With the gentle hum of the AC and Wanda’s presence, it lured you to lean fully into the car door beside you.
“If you’d like to sleep, go ahead. It’s pretty late.”
You glance to the clock, finding the numbers 2:00 glaring back at you. A sigh comes from you, “no.”
“Okay,” she mumbles, her husky voice cracking at your resolve. You watch her side profile, a hand under your head.
“You have a slight accent,” you begin and she cuts you off, apologizing for whatever reason.
“What? I was going to say it’s attractive.”
She huffs, looking a bit shocked, “thank you. It might be because English isn’t my first language.”
“What is it,” you ask tiredly, resisting how your eyes are practicing closing.
“It’s Sokovian. And doll, sleep. I promise I don’t mind.”
You didn’t have the energy to respond, the last coming from you being a muffled him before you drifted off. Twenty or thirty minute could’ve passed, but you woke when you felt the car turn at the strange loop getting off the highway. A slight headache begin to appear as you slowly woke up.
“I was about wake you,” she laughs softly, “you seemed to know we’re almost back.”
You groan with a hand in your head, “I regret sleeping, my head hurts.”
“Poor baby, do you have medicine?”
You nod at her question, reaching below to grab at your stuff that had fallen by your feet. The complex’s lights come into view and you’re almost thankful to lay down in your actual bed. What a gift it is to be able to do so.
“Thank you,” you start, “I had a wonderful time. I’m so sorry for just knocking out there at the end.“
“No worries,” she parks the car out front and you can feel the nerves from before spark.
“I would like to see you again,” you say quietly, looking into her eyes, “if that’s okay.”
“Love to. I can get you after practice Tuesday.”
The shyness comes back, everything within you burning at the idea of seeing her again. Your lungs heave in air looking at her, and she knows with the way she begins to smirk weird.
“You’re a goof,” you say finally, moving to climb out of the car. She laughs and waves you off.
Once finally in bed, you weren’t able to sleep with the way you kept replaying the way she was looking at you. It was dangerous, each one pulling you further into her.

“He’s not giving us anything.” Natasha walks into the room, where Wanda and Tony are watching the interrogation room. “He keeps asking for his lawyer.”
“Can’t you like,” Tony imitates punching sounds, “do that to get through to him.”
“It doesn’t work like that.” Natasha rolls her eyes. “At the end of the day, we don’t have hard evidence he is the behind the organization.”
A particular organization has been tormenting the Avengers for a long time now. They’ve started attacks against people and buildings, destroying many important properties and killing people. Yet, they have always hidden any possible leads.
Until now. They finally caught someone, Mr Blight. The group’s clean up crew made a mistake and left evidence on site, bringing the Avengers to him.
After bringing him to the compound for interrogation an hour ago, they’ve gotten nowhere. He’s smart, he knows what they can and can’t do, which is why they have to think something different before they run out of time.
Wanda stares at screen, deep in thought. “Where did you say he worked at?”
“He is one of the owners of the Blight Industries.” Tony glances at the file they have on him. It’s a thin file. “Do you know him?”
“I think his company works with Y/N’s company.”
“Miss bubblegum’s company?” He frowns, looking at the man though the monitor. “Really?”
“Oh, this’ll be fun.” Natasha grins. “She can help us, right?” She turns to Wanda.
Taking out her phone, Wanda starts texting her girlfriend. “Uh, yeah. I think she could help us.” She mumbles, a bit unsure on bringing her into an Avengers mission. “Are you sure this is a good idea?”
Wanda and Y/N have been dating for two months, they’re still in very much their honeymoon phase, neither really talking about work things. However, Natasha and Y/N have been friends for a long time. She actually introduced the couple to each other. She also still continuously reminds them of this, taking great pride into making their relationship happen.
“Oh, yeah. She’ll be able to crack him.”
Tony and Wanda both frown. “Am I missing something here?” He points at Natasha. “How will little miss sunshine help us?”
“You’ll be in for a treat.”
Tony pushes Mr Blight forward when the elevator comes to a stop. He is already looking nervous, he recognizes where they are. “Wait.” Tony looks around the building. “Why did neither of you tell me Y/N is the CEO of the biggest company in the US? I’ve been trying to get a meeting with the boss for ages about Stark Industries, but I always get a negative answer.”
Letting out a short laugh, Natasha leads them in front of Y/N’s office. “Maybe your company isn’t that important.” She mumbles, throwing him a look. Knocking on the door, she opens it for Mr Blight when a faint come in comes from the other side. “Don’t shake too much, she can sense fear.” Natasha whispers with a smirk when he walks past her.
Wanda furrows her brows, moving in front of the window. The blinds are mostly shut, but she can see inside the room through a small crack. Natasha and Tony move next to her, the latter being a lot less inconspicuous about snooping.
“Natasha, care to tell us how she’ll help us?”
“She breaks anyone who walks into that room.”
Y/N is working on her computer, completely ignoring Mr Blight walking into the room. He closes the door behind him, slowly making his voice towards the table.
He clears his throat, but Y/N pays no mind to it. “Should I- sit? Or, maybe..”
“What do you usually do when you walk inside someone else’s office, Mr Blight?” She finally lifts up her head from the screen.
Nodding, Mr Blight sits down to one of the chairs. He lays his hands on his lap, though he can’t stop moving them.
“We have been business partners for a long time, have we not, Mr Blight?” Y/N sits on her office chair with the perfect posture, her hands laying on the table. The look on her face is neutral, but terrifying.
Mr Blight clears his throat before answering, so Y/N wouldn’t hear it shake. “Yes, we have.”
“So,” sighing, Y/N shakes her head, “imagine my surprise when I hear you’ve made an enemy out of the Avengers.” She tilts her head, making Mr Blight gulp. “Do you understand how this looks like to my company, that I have worked so hard to build from the ground up?”
“I- I understand, Miss Y/L/N.”
“See, I don’t think you do.” She stands up, leaning closer to him. “You’re making this more difficult for everyone involved by not telling the truth.”
“Respectfully, Miss Y/L/N, I have spoken the truth. I have no ties w-“
“Have you?” Y/N interrupts him. She stands up properly and turns her monitor to face Mr Blight. “You’re aware that I know everything, correct?” He nods. “So, what you’re telling me is, if I open these files over here,” she points towards the files shown on her monitor, “there will be nothing about you deciding to join the organization two months ago?”
His eyes widen. He tries to hide his expressions, but nothing goes unnoticed by her. Mr Blight opens his mouth to say something, anything to save his name, but nothing comes out.
“On the second of September, you made a donation to a charity, which then send out that money to a third party.” She reads through one of the files. “You’ve been making consistent visits to Washington DC once a week, in the guise of visiting family. However, I remember you telling me your family move abroad last summer, is that right?”
“Well, yes, but-“
“But, what Mr Blight?” Her voice raises a notch. She stares him down, crossing her arms over her chest. “Do you have some other excuses? Or lies perhaps?”
He shakes his head in defeat. “I will talk to the Avengers.” He mumbles. Y/N raises her brow, waiting for something more. “And I will tell them everything.”
Y/N smiles, expressing him to stand up, which he does. “A pleasure. Remember to tell Blight Industries we aren’t working together anymore before you get locked up, would you?” She shakes his hand when he doesn’t know what to answer, before pointing to the door. “You may leave.”
Mr Blight opens the office door, getting grabbed by a SHIELD agent and pulled away. Natasha, Tony and Wanda stay behind, stepping into the office.
“Hi!” Y/N has a wide smile on her face as she waves at them. “So glad to see you guys. I hope I was able to help.” She kisses Wanda before hugging Natasha.
Tony is looking at her with an indescribable look. “You, are a fraud.”
“What do you mean?” Y/N frowns, tilting her head to the side.
“That!” Tony points at her. “You did that while talking to Mr Blight and looked scary, just like witchy woo over here when she does her thing, and now-“ he moves his hands around her and Wanda, “now you look like a cinnamon roll.”
With a grin, Natasha throws her hand over Y/N’s shoulders, pulling her closer. “She has been my secret weapon for years. You don’t understand how many people she has broken.”
Wanda stays quiet as she listens to the conversation. She has only seen the sweet side of Y/N, but she isn’t necessarily disappointed by the other side either.
“I think I like you even more now.” Tony pats her arm. “Now, do you think we could talk about a collaboration between Stark Ind-“
“No.” Y/N states. “There’s a reason I always tell you no.” She smiles sweetly at him. “Now, if you don’t mind, I still have work to do.”
“Thank you for your help, I’ll see you later.” Natasha grabs Tony’s suit and pulls him away from the room, leaving Y/N and Wanda alone.
“Hi.” Y/N smiles.
“Hey.” With a brow raised, Wanda stares at her. “That was different.” She mumbles, wrapping her arms around Y/N’s waist. “I kind of liked it.” Using her magic, she closes and locks the door.
“Oh, really?” Y/N grins, her arms going around Wanda’s neck. She giggles as Wanda starts kissing her neck while pushing her backwards. “Don’t you have work to do?”
Wanda lifts Y/N, so she’s sitting on the table. “I have some time.” With a smirk, she goes right back to attacking her neck.

The Monster I am
Tumblr media
Summary: After an argument Wanda realizes she may be the monster everyone says she is.
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x fem!reader
Warnings: Arguing and mentions of blood
Word count: 1112
a/n: Surprise! Not dead! The fanfiction writer curse is just very real. Anyways here’s some hurt comfort for y’all. (Reblogs are welcome and critiques/advice are heavily encouraged, but please no translating.)
As Y/n and Wanda rode the Quinjet with the rest of the team coming back from a mission the negative energy between the two was obvious. Trying to somewhat make amends Wanda began inching her hand towards Y/n’s since she was still sitting next to her. But as soon as her hand grazed Y/n’s Y/n quickly moved her hand away not in the mood for any type of contact.
Landing at the compound Y/n was the first one to grab her duffle bag and quickly make her way back to the bedrooms with Wanda following her. It doesn’t take long before Wanda is knocking on the door pleading with Y/n her.
“Y/n, sweetheart please open the door. I just want to talk.” With no response, Wanda could feel a lump grow in her throat. She manages to slip out a joke, “Uh, you know this is my room too right?” Y/n finally opens the door but Wanda is met with a serious expression. “How are we supposed to talk Wanda? You have been getting yourself needlessly hurt to do what? Protect me?”
Wanda could feel her eyes start to brim with tears but she moved closer to Y/n anyways. “Yes Y/n! That’s all I’ve been trying to do! I love you!” Y/n presses her hands against her face in frustration, “Well then maybe you need to stop Wanda. It seems like you’re forgetting I signed up for this job too. And when you’re too focused on me you’re putting our teammates in danger!”
Wanda inches closer to Y/n again, “I can’t lose anyone else!” Wanda’s voice softens, “I’ve lost my mother, father, and brother. If I lose one more person I love I don’t know what will happen to me.” Y/n bites the inside of her cheek trying to figure out the right thing to say.
“I know that Wanda, and I understand that. But that’s also not an excuse to endanger the lives of people I care about.” Wanda lifts up a hand to caress Y/n’s cheek, but at the speed she did it Y/n flinches back. The one simple motion stopped any tears Wanda had in her and replaced them with a special mixture of hurt and anger.
“Did- did you think I was going to hit you?” Y/n stammers holding back tears of her own, “I- I don’t know.” Wanda clenches her fists trying to hold in any type of intense feelings.
“Answer. The. Question.”
“Wanda…” Y/n looks down at something but Wanda can’t be concerned with it. She screams at the top of her lungs, “Just tell me!” She hears a loud thunk. Opening her eyes Wanda first sees blood on the dresser that Y/n was standing in front of. Looking down Y/n is lying on the floor blood begins to stain the grey carpet.
Lastly looking down at her own hands Wanda notices remnant wisps of red energy circling her hands. She did this. Immediately kneeling over Y/n she pressed her hand against the wound on Y/n’s head trying to stop the bleeding. Tears started to pour from her eyes.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” her voice began to crack. “I’m sorry, please. Please don’t go. Don’t leave me. Not yet.” Someone not too far away was calling Wanda but she couldn’t bear to turn around. She just looked down at her blood-stained hands. Whoever is calling her is getting closer, maybe the world is right. Maybe she is something that needs to be contained.
The person calling her was right behind her now. “Wanda. Wanda?” As she turned around to see who it was she switched spots with Y/n. Except she wasn’t bleeding or on the floor. She was in bed, with Y/n sitting up staring at her concerned. She can feel Y/n resting a hand on her cheek wiping away a few tears.
“What was it this time?” Compared to the dream Y/n’s tone was softer, warmer, and more comforting. Trying to ground Wanda a little more Y/n began to move her hand from Wanda’s cheek grazing her arm before slipping her hand under Wanda’s shirt drawing shapes into her back with her fingertips.
Wanda sits up slightly running a hand through her hair. “We were arguing about me being overprotective of you.” Y/n looks down at Wanda’s hands as she begins playing with Y/n’s free hand avoiding any form of eye contact.
“Is that it? You were crying a lot this time. You don’t have to tell me anything of course. I just want to make sure you’re okay.” Wanda bites the inside of her cheek worried what Y/n may think.
“When we were arguing you flinched probably thinking I was going to hit you. And I lashed out because of that. I lost control of my powers and hurt you.” Wanda’s eyes begin to well up with tears again as she lets go of Y/n’s hand examining her own in slight fear. “I think I killed you.”
“Hey, look at me.” Y/n tilts Wanda’s head up meeting her eyes before gently grabbing her hands and kissing them a few times. “It was just a nightmare. Nothing else. I know you would never hurt me. You are amazing in so many ways I can’t explain.”
“You don’t think I’m overprotective?” Y/n cracks a smile, “No. I think you’re protective of me the same way you are with anyone else on our team. Maybe just a little bit more than them if we’re in a really dangerous situation. But I don’t think you’re overprotective. And even if you were I would understand why. You’ve lost a lot of people you care about. I’d never argue with you over something you feel.”
Wanda lets out a deep breath finally starting to relax. Giving her a quick forehead kiss Y/n smiles, “So, did you want to watch a few episodes of a show or something?” Wanda raises an eyebrow at her. “Isn’t it late?” Y/n shrugs, “A little but I figured you might not want to go back to sleep yet.”
Wanda cracks a small grin looking at Y/n, “Well I don’t.” Y/n quickly gets out of bed brushing herself off, “Good. You start thinking of a show then while we raid the kitchen pantry.” As Wanda gets out of bed Y/n grabs onto her hand once more and she lets out a small, “I love you.” Y/n replies back in a soft whisper, “I love you too.”

Part 1
Tumblr media
Over the next couple of days, you’re kind of glad that Bucky doesn’t reach out. You see each other in the common areas, but he doesn’t offer to hang out or train together, and neither do you. But you’re the type of person that can’t hang on to negative feelings for too long, so after about a week, you’re ready to be ‘just friends’ with Bucky again.
You start by sending him a text, totally innocuous and about something random you’d seen, but his reply is short. A little odd from him, but hey, he’s probably busy at the moment and still feeling a little weird. You’ll try your hardest to get you both past this awkward phase in your friendship.
You glance up from the reports you’d been writing all morning. It’s close to lunch now, so you head to the kitchen to find something appetizing. You hope the chef has been in…
Walking into the kitchen, you see Bucky and Steve sitting at the island. There’s a large spread of food between the two of them, but you know it will be tucked away to their stomachs in no time.
“Hey, boys!” You greet cheerfully.
Steve turns around and gives you a broad smile and a “hey” back. Bucky just slightly nods his head and throws you more of a grimace than a smile.
You squint your eyes at Bucky’s ‘greeting’, but continue on into the room to start preparing a sandwich since there’s no stealing what’s left on the island. You and Steve start up a conversation which Bucky barely participates in except when one of you asks him a direct question. You can see Steve throwing Bucky exasperated looks when he thinks you won’t notice.
You throw everything into the sandwich press to heat up and turn around to lean against the counter and peer over at the boys. Bucky sits at the island, just spooning food into his mouth and ignoring you and Steve to the best of his ability.
“What’s up with you?” you finally question him.
Steve shoots a panicked look between you and Bucky, which lets you know that Bucky must have told him about what you’d said. Which, to be expected, you suppose. They’re best friends. And you’d already told Nat and Wanda about everything, anyway.
“Me?” he questions. Bucky looks at you kind of puzzled before going on, “I’m just… trying to help?” He says this more as if questioning the validity of his plan than giving an actual answer.
You’re quick to laugh it off. “Jesus, Buck. I agreed we should stop fucking, not stop being friends.”
Steve’s eyes widen further and Bucky chokes. He has to clear his throat before he can respond properly. “I guess that’s not a secret anymore, huh?”
You frown at him. “I figured you’d already told him everything – Nat and Wanda know.” You throw an apologetic look Steve’s way. “I’m sorry, Stevie. Didn’t mean to upset your delicate constitution.”
“Har har,” he quips. You smile brightly back at him.
Bucky sighs deeply. “I just don’t think –”
“Stop,” you interrupt him. “I told you to forget about it.”
“Well, it’s kind of fucking hard to forget,” Bucky gripes, stabbing his spoon down into his bowl.
You freeze for a moment before saying anything. You blink several times and take in a deep, calming breath.
“Hey Steve, could you give us a second?” you ask quietly. The man needs no further prompting; he’s immediately out of his seat and through the doors with a supportive little grin thrown your way before he’s out of sight.
You’re still leaning back against the counter, but now you pull your arms up to cross over your chest. You hate that all your hard work over the last few days might derail so quickly. You were already vulnerable once, and it didn’t turn out how you wanted; you’re not sure if you can do it again.
“I said I’d handle it, Buck.”
“Yeah, well, maybe I can’t.” Bucky looks up at you, his jaw tight.
His anger is so far from expected, you’re unsure what’s going on. You pitch your head forward, disbelieving.
“What?”
“Maybe I can’t handle it; did you think of that?” he repeats. His chair scrapes across the floor as he stands up, fists gripping the edge of the counter. “Did you think that maybe I’d be uncomfortable knowing how you feel about me?”
“Buck–” you try.
“No, Y/N.” There’s reproach in his voice. He takes a visible calming breath and lets up on the countertop before it begins to crumble.
As much as it hurt the other night, this is a million times worse. This isn’t embarrassment about being rejected anymore – you can live with that – but his genuine anger over your confession guts you. You inhale a shaky breath and prepare yourself.
“I told you time and again that I don’t want a relationship. We agreed before we started anything that there wouldn’t be feelings. You promised me. You lied.”
“I didn’t lie,” you try to defend. “I honestly didn’t feel like this in the beginning.”
“But when you started to get feelings for me, you didn’t try to stop us! You let it go on, thinking that I’d change my mind!”
“Now wait a minute –”
“I’m just…” he takes a deep breath in and out. Again. His shoulders drop and he shakes his head, the fight leaving him. “I’m trying my best not to be angry. But I am.”
Bucky looks up from where he’s been staring at the floor, trying to avoid looking at you more than necessary. You can only imagine the look of hurt on your face as Bucky fights back a defeated sigh.
“Look. I know it’s not your fault – I never should have suggested it in the first place.”
“Bucky–”
“And I wish I hadn’t.”
You suck in a tight breath between your teeth. Bucky wishes he’d never suggested it? That means he wishes he’d never slept with you at all, right? Regrets spending all the time with you that lead to being as good of friends as you are? Or were, you guess.
He regrets it? Regrets you?
Goddamn. There’s a pain so deep inside your chest, you can’t distinguish the feeling from having a bullet lodged in your lungs. You rub deep and hard with your knuckles against your sternum, drawing the pain outwards.
There’s silence in the room.
“I see,” you whisper shakily. You suck your bottom lip roughly between your teeth and nod your head slowly, looking away from Bucky.
You’re unsure of where to go from here. Obviously you and Bucky can’t go back to the way things were – you can’t just pretend like you hadn’t taken a sledgehammer to your friendship that night after the movies.
You catch sight of Bucky from your peripheral vision. He takes his rough hands and runs them through his long brown hair, gathering it into a bun at the nape of his neck. You know it’s a nervous habit more than functional, given the situation you’ve found yourselves in.
It guts you to realize that your admission has caused him this much stress, caused him so many negative emotions. He’s worked so hard after all the shit Hydra put him through. Worked to make himself into a normal man with boundaries he wanted and needed respected.
And you hadn’t done that. You’d trampled all over the lines he’d drawn in the sand, barrelled right up and over to the other side.
“I didn’t mean –”
“Don’t you dare apologize, James Barnes,” you command. He looks slightly surprised by the hardness of your tone and the sound of his real name in your mouth. You hadn’t called him by his given name since becoming friends. “I’m the only one responsible for my own decisions, no matter who brought up the idea. I agreed. I caught feelings. I ruined it. Not you.” Your voice softens to make sure that Bucky knows you’re not angry with him. Not over something you did. “Don’t apologize for my mistakes.”
You step away from the countertop, moving so that you’re on the same side of the island as Bucky. Face-to-face now, but with a meter of space separating you, you look directly into Bucky’s eyes.
“I’m sorry.”
It takes him a moment to stop reeling from the sheer intensity of your apology. The sincerity behind those last two words blowing through him but also rooting him to the spot. Bucky swallows thickly and nods once, accepting your apology.
You blow out a breath and crook him a sad smile. You place one foot back, taking half of a small step away from Bucky, giving him space. Giving you space.
“I’ll go see if there are any extended missions. Maybe go help out with some of the conflicts going on.”
Giving him a lot of space.
“Doll.”
“It’s alright,” you say, still with the sad smile. “Maybe Nat can go on that mission with you, huh? You’ll have more fun together, anyway.”
“We would have had fun together,” he said.
The ‘if you hadn’t messed it up’ left unspoken, you thought sadly. You flatten your lips and put on a thoughtful expression, nodding your head after a moment.
“Yeah, we would have.”

a storm and a kiss
part three of home for christmas
natasha romanoff x reader
The hallmark movie inspired Christmas story that nobody asked for.
Natasha Romanoff fell out of love with Christmas, but perhaps a certain someone could help her find the festive magic once again.
Coming home to her small hometown from her life in New York City, the children’s author is reunited with the people of her past; some are happier to see her than others.
But, will rekindled relationships inspire the Christmas story she’s struggling to write? Or will she go home empty handed?
awkward silences, fluff, wanda meddling again, still cringey, snowed in trope kinda, mentions of alcohol
wc: 2.1k | part one | part two | part four
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Wow, this town still goes all out for Christmas, huh?” Natasha spoke, attempting to cut through the uncomfortable quiet between you as you walked.
The layer of snow along the ground and the greyish-white clouds above you only added to the winter feel of the town. The lights strung along each and every building were on most of the time, biting through the dark of winter in Ohio and various festive decorations stood on every street corner. The oversized tree in the town square was your favourite, the one in the heart of the town, surrounded by the goings on of the month-long fair that was always busy.
She used to love it here, how the community always came together at this time of year. Everybody was always included and she felt as much a part of it as anybody. It makes you both wonder back on those years before, when the magic of the season lost its touch on the woman when the warmth that sparked within her turned to something cool and dismissive.
“You’d know that if you came back here, rather than having your family schlep to New York instead.”
“I guess so,” she sighed.
“They always talk about you - how you don’t decorate your apartment, how you don’t make Yelena that hot chocolate you always used to bring us all.”
“I get too busy for all this Christmas stuff,” she shrugged, internalising the frown her lips desperately wished to fall into. “I don’t have time for the ‘Christmas cheer’ anymore, I guess.”
“You used to,” you returned, sparing a look at the side of the face. She peered downwards at her feet, her eyebrows knitted into the thoughtful expression they always had done when you knew she was in quiet contemplation. “Natasha Romanoff was never ‘too busy’ for it all.”
“People change,” she mumbled. You saw the clenching of her jaw poke through her skin and you knew there was more to it. Still, whether you sympathised with the redhead’s clearly deep-rooted dislike for this time of year, her dismissal of the conversation left you with a stinging in your belly that even the chill of the air couldn’t compete with. An explanation is all you want, she owes you that much at least.
“Yeah,” you sighed. “They do.”
Even when you reached her car you were still hoping somebody would take over for you. It’s a certainty that Melina and Wanda - and perhaps various other interfering ‘allies’ - had something to do with this. After all, sending two people to a remote cabin over thirty minutes away is a perfectly reasonable ask. Tasking two people, who have a physically observable discontent between them, with fetching unnecessary Christmas tree ornaments is not strange at all.
You’d tried to get out of it, of course, but with Melina’s irresistible way of charming you into doing just about anything, you found yourself caving into her demands rather quickly. ‘It’ll only be a couple of hours’ you repeated in your head over and over.
The car journey couldn’t have been much more awkward if you’d tried. It was clear that both of you had words on the tip of your tongues that you fought away by drowning them out with the radio’s music. You wanted to ask her ‘why?’. You wanted to give her a piece of your mind yet, also, tell her how much you think about her. Positive and negative. You wanted to be honest to somebody about the way she plagues your mind at night with ponderings both wholesome and unsavoury, hot and cold, loving and loathsome.
She wanted to say sorry. She wanted to tell you her love for you was still there - it always had been. But times change, things change, and things that once brought her joy had melted away and taken a part of her with them. She wanted to explain why.
So, it was merely two people with words aching to be set free, sitting in a silence that felt less dangerous. You climbed out of the car as soon as the hum of the engine slowed.
The house brought back memories of all those times before; the wooden roof clothed in snow, a frosted cobweb weaved against the window in the centre of the old front door. The crack in the porch decking, just to the left of the doorstep, was still there and you both smiled to yourselves at the sight. You remember the time that Kate tried to keep up with Carol, carrying the same amount of logs into the house for the fire. She smirked with hubris and you all laughed when she stumbled, dropping it all with a snap beneath their weight. You all decided to use the gaudy gnome Alexei had bought, much to Melina’s distaste, to hide it for as long as possible. It worked until it didn’t, and you all still feign oblivious to the damage.
“Alright, I’ll look down here, you look upstairs?” Natasha asked once you’d walked in.
“Sounds like a plan.”
You made your way upstairs, eyeing the dent in the papered wall where Wanda had playfully pushed you one tipsy evening. She’d been teasing you about the way you’d apparently been ogling Natasha and she only retaliated to the shove you’d given her, chuckling when you almost fell down the staircase.
There were still photos hung in frames along the walls when you reached the top, memories of your group of friends cemented into shots. Smiling faces framed with wood, the glass shielding them gathering dust. You wiped one clean with your sleeve just to be met with Natasha’s smile, her arm draped over your shoulder whilst you grinned all the same. The rosy hue to the apples of her cheeks only served as a reminder of what made her so easy to love.
The drawers you searched through turned up nothing, and the cupboards were just as unsuccessful. Apart from the trips down memory lane, you found nothing, and you only sighed as you descended the stairs once more. It was becoming more clear why you were sent on this excursion - the decorations didn’t exist. You suppose you should have figured it out sooner.
“Anything?”
“No,” you shook your head. “We should probably get on the road - it’s already getting dark.”
“The snow’s pretty bad, I think we’re gonna have to wait it out.”
“Okay, I’m just gonna call Wanda to let her know I’ll be late back.”
You stepped out into the kitchen and grumbled at the obvious smile in her mischievously toned voice when she picked up.
“I hate you,” you groaned.
“How’s it going? You found the ornaments?”
“Wanda,” you sighed. “We all know they don’t exist. You and Melina must despise me, I’m sure of it.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she returned, clearly holding back a laugh at your annoyance.
“This isn’t gonna change anything, Wands. My life isn’t some fairytale you can turn into some true love thing.”
“Nobody said anything about ‘true love’,” she answered. “Apart from you.”
“Oh my God-”
“No, you’ve said it now. It’s been spoken into the universe. I can still see it between you, y’know? It’s a bit much if you ask me,” she teased.
“Well, I didn’t ask you,” you mumbled.
“You’re not denying anything, though,” Wanda spoke, her tone softening just as it does when she wants you to know she’s being earnest. “You know I’ve always been on your side with all of this - I am always on your side. So you have to trust me when I tell you that you need to trust your heart with this.”
“I loved her, Wanda. I did. But, things change. It’s a lot to make sense of.”
“Then take your time - I’ll be here. But I can see it in both of you. Sure, things change - people change - but maybe, sometimes, that’s the best thing that can happen.”
“I’ll think about it.”
“Yes. You will,” she returned. “And we’ll talk about it later. One more thing, there’s a storm coming tonight so I think you might have to stay there,” Wanda hurried out, clearly hoping to hang up before you could say anything else.
“Oh my God, Wanda.”
“Sorry,” she laughed - clearly not meaning it - before ending the call as quickly as possible.
Natasha was sitting on the sofa when you walked back out, holding up a bottle of vodka she’d found with a smile and gesturing to the space beside her for you to take a seat.
“My mom texted me,” she spoke. “We’re gonna have to wait the storm out here tonight. We should be able to head out first thing in the morning.”
“I’m gonna need a drink then.”
You didn’t speak much at first but the uncomfortable silences between you had become such a regular thing that it hardly felt unusual. Natasha had found two shot glasses and filled them rather liberally as the evening drew in, you winced less and less at the sting of liquor in your throat. It seemed the alcohol wore away that tall wall of glass between the pair of you because, as time passed, scatters of conversation turned into recalls of childhood memories. And then you felt comfortable asking her what your mind had begged you to.
“Why’d you leave, Nat?”
“I had to,” she shrugged, taking a sip that emptied her glass. “I got into college, moved to New York.”
“You know what I mean, Natalia,” you breathed. You were leaning close enough to her to see the twitch at the corner of her lips at the use of the name only you are allowed to use. “Why’d you leave me?”
“I didn’t mean for it to all happen like that,” she sighed. “Things changed. The way I wanted things to go didn’t seem possible anymore so I left it all behind.”
“You left me behind, too.”
“I didn’t mean to, sweetheart,” she spoke the pet name for the first time in years and it tasted just as sweet on her tongue, you felt it wash over you like the stroke of a tender hand. “Anyway, I’m here now and we’re having a good night. Reminds me of old times.”
“We had fun, didn’t we?” you smiled, letting your shoulder rest against hers as though the space between you had never been there.
“We did.” Her grin was contagious, it always has been. She let her hand rest on your leg as though it was the most normal thing in the world and you accepted it because you agreed. “Do you remember that time, just like tonight, when we just sat and talked for hours? The others were all asleep-”
“We could hear Yelena’s snoring from down here,” you laughed and Natasha chuckled at the memory, you felt the laugh move her body from where you leaned against her.
“And it was like we were the only people who existed.”
Neither of you mentioned the way you desperately wanted to kiss the other that night - nor the other nights you’d felt the same. But, right now, as though making up for missed opportunities, she cupped her hand around your cheek and swiped a musing thumb against your bottom lip. The skin left your lips tingling and wanting more, you felt a shiver run through your spine as her face drew nearer.
The gap between you vanished with a slow touch of her lips to yours, the bitter taste of vodka lingering on the tongue that pushed past your teeth. It was all you’d wanted since you were young and, at first, it left you dizzied with nothing else on your mind apart from the woman who held your waist.
But, as the saying goes, good things must come to an end. When the haze of Natasha Romanoff’s mouth dancing with yours had settled, you thought back to the unresolved issue you held with her. You still don’t know why she left you, you still don’t know why all of your calls wouldn’t even ring out on her mobile. You don’t know if this is just a drunken thing she’d forget about by morning.
You pulled away as though her kiss had left you burnt and her flushed cheeks stared back at you.
“I can’t do this right now,” you stumbled out. “I still don’t understand what’s happened between us but I can’t just move past it all so quickly.”
“I’m-”
“No, it’s fine,” you sighed, pushing a hand through your hair in an attempt to unravel your mind just the slightest inch. “I’m gonna sleep upstairs. I’ll see you in the morning.”
If you’d found the drive to the cabin uncomfortable, the car ride back home was incomparable.

THINKING BACK ON IT, NEITHER of them could say for sure how it first started.
they just knew that finding each other was the best thing to ever happen to either of them.
"looking at it now, it all seems so simple. we were lying on your couch. i remember."
the air is quiet with a calm and comfortable silence.
"do you think anything's going to change?" [y/n] asks quietly, not daring to look up at him.
she keeps her head leaning over his shoulder, becoming incredibly comfortable, but also feeling a little nervous of what his reply will be.
it takes him a moment before he answers her, "no, and even if they do, we'll figure it out."
[y/n] sighs, trying to keep the lingering, negative worries buried, as she moves the blanket to cover the both of them.
bucky chuckles, gently moving the fuzzy blanket off of his body and over to cover her whole, shivering body. "doll, you know my body's too warm for the blanket."
[y/n] sighs dramatically, rolling her eyes. "ugh, i hate how amazing your body is."
as soon as the words leave her lips, she groans and buries her face into his chest. "oh my god."
bucky smirks down at her.
she lifts her head up and squints her eyes in clear embarrassment. "i didn't mean it like that!"
bucky gives her a pointed look.
"i didn't!" she yells defensively.
she sighs. "you know i meant like how amazing your body is in the sense of healing and how you're always warm."
bucky chuckles, shaking his head. "sweetheart, i know. i'm just kidding."
"you better be." she mumbles, moving back to lie her head back on his chest and snuggling closer to him.
"you took a polaroid of us. then discovered (then discovered) the rest of the world was black and white. but we were screaming in color. and i remember thinking."
[y/n] giggles as he kisses her cheek, just as she takes the picture.
"bucky!" she yells, turning around to shove him, after she took the polaroid out of the camera and setting it down.
"what?"
"that picture is probably all blurry now!" she whines, turning back around to grab it on the side table.
she shakes it as he wraps his arms around her waist, both of them waiting to see what the picture will look like.
she giggles again as he buries his face into her neck, the scruff on his jaw tickling her.
he lifts his head up as the picture becomes much more clearer.
"huh." she murmurs, a soft smile forming on her lips as they both notice that the picture is perfect—no blurs, or anything like that.
"see? it's fine." he whispers, but since they're so close, she can hear it clearly.
she giggles as she turns around to face him, moving her hands up to his face, giggling once more at the feel of the facial hair that's grown on his face.
"fine. maybe it is." she says with playful glare.
he smiles genuinely, placing his own hands over hers, just appreciating the moment.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
with a silent gasp, [y/n] holds her breath and stands still, hiding behind the corner of the wall.
"what's going on between the two of you?" steve's voice speaks up again, judgement in his voice.
"what are you talking about?" bucky asks, trying to act dumb.
"come on, buck," steve says, giving him a pointed look. "it's clear that something's going on."
bucky shakes his head immediately, almost feeling and sounding defensive. "there's not anything going on."
[y/n]'s heart stops as she hears those words.
she wasn't expecting him to admit it, especially considering the fact that they've been keeping everything on the down low.
but, how could he sound so disgusted at the mere thought of them together?
with no more interest in hearing any more of that conversation, [y/n] angrily pushes herself away from the wall and marches up the stairs, up to her bedroom.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good."
hearing her bedroom door open, [y/n] immediately turns away to hastily wipe away the tears staining her cheeks.
"doll? why are you—" bucky cuts himself off as he notices her red face and runny nose.
"are you crying?" he asks, shutting the door gently as he walks over to her.
"baby, what's wrong? talk to me." he murmurs as he sits down beside her, cupping her face gently.
[y/n] only scoffs, pulling away from him and getting up, wanting to get away from him.
"you have a lot of nerve, james!" she exclaims as she turns around, trying to ignore the sniffling sound coming from her nose.
bucky's eyebrows furrow in confusion. "sweetheart, what's going on? why are you acting like this all of a sudden?"
she scoffs again. "are you kidding me right now?"
he raises his hands up in the air, becoming frustrated.
realizing that he's probably never going to get it until she spells it out, she spits it out with disdain, "how was your talk with steve, huh? you have anything you wanna tell me?"
his eyes fill with realization.
bucky opens his mouth to say something — anything — to explain, before she can come up with too many assumptions.
she holds up her finger, trying to shut him up. "what are we even doing, james?"
he falls short at her words.
"if nothing is going on, then why are we even doing any of this?" she questions, pointing between the both of them to emphasize.
"doll, it's not like that. it's not like that at all, i swear."
he walks over to her, and for some reason, she lets him place his hands over her shoulders.
"i only said that to protect you — to protect us." he explains, sighing when she rolls her eyes at him in disbelief.
"from what, james? what could me or we need protecting from?" she exclaims, tears filling her eyes.
she can't stop the hurt feelings she feels deep in her heart from what he had said to steve.
"baby..." he trails off, hating to see her hurting from this misunderstanding.
"what? what could you possibly say that could make this better?" she exclaims again.
he sighs, shutting his eyes for a straight second. "i wanted to protect our relationship from all of the judgement and the questions!" he suddenly yells, causing her to jump in surprise.
he flinches, trying to ignore what his yelling has caused her.
"look," he says, much more softly this time. "i know this is all still very new to us. and i want to protect us and this relationship before we announce it — we need to figure out what it is before we do that."
she's quiet, tears spilling as guilt fills her for overreacting.
before she can quite apologize or defend herself, bucky can practically read her mind.
"don't worry about it. it's okay." he murmurs, wrapping his arms around her.
she sighs shakily as she whispers, "i'm sorry."
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
she can't breathe.
she can't breathe at all as she sees it.
the scene playing out in front of her — in front of everyone too — makes her sick to her stomach.
she swears she hears her own heart shatter into a million different pieces.
despite the tears blinding her vision, she doesn't hesitate as she says, "excuse me, guys. i have to go." and turns around to walk back up to her room.
how could he do this to her?
flirting with her best friend? did she mean nothing to him?
as soon as she's in her room, she slams the door shut and locks it.
and with that, she slides down the door and finally lets everything out with her hands covering her face.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good. (are we out of the woods?)"
she'd been avoiding bucky ever since she saw that exchange between him and natasha in the kitchen.
they'd all been drinking and even if [y/n] didn't know it, it wasn't anything more than two friends joking around with each other.
but, even though she was great at dodging and avoiding bucky, one morning, after a particularly exhausting training session with steve, he was able to find and catch her before she could quite run away from him.
she grimaces when he grabs her wrist to prevent her from going any farther away from him.
"[y/n]." he calls, his voice filled with anguish.
"what?" she whispers, trying to ignore the tears that have already spilled down to her cheeks.
she doesn't turn around. not yet.
"doll, what's going on? why won't you speak to me and why have you been avoiding me?" he asks, his voice barely even a whisper.
"did i do something wrong?" he asks again, this time his voice small.
but, [y/n] forces herself not to dwell on it.
instead, she whips around, ripping her hand out of his gentle grip and pointing a finger at his chest. "you have a lot of nerve, you know that, james?" she exclaims, finally having had enough.
everyone around them watches cautiously, before steve nods for them to follow him out of the room.
they do.
and bucky and [y/n] don't speak until the room is quiet and empty.
"what are you talking about?" he asks again, only becoming more and more confused.
she scoffs. "are you that clueless, bucky?" she asks, shaking her head.
how could he not even know what he did?
when he doesn't answer once again, she rolls her eyes, suddenly sick of this heartache that's quickly been happening for her — for the both of them. "i'm sick of this, james. if you wanted to be with nat, you should've just told me and ended this before one of us got hurt."
bucky only becomes more confused. "natasha? what the hell does she have to do with this?"
"oh my god," she mutters, only becoming more and more irritated.
"bucky, i saw you with her the other night, okay? along with everyone else."
his face fills with realization as she continues, "i don't know what you were doing. maybe... you were trying to get everyone off of our backs. or maybe you just couldn't find a way to let me down gently."
tears fill his eyes at the thought of her thinking that he doesn't want to be with her or that there's something going on between him and her best friend.
"baby, i'm not interested in natasha." he simply states, hoping that he can fix this before he causes any more damage.
[y/n]'s eyebrows knit together, creating a crease in between them, and bucky wants so badly to fix it.
"then... why were you flirting with her?" she asks meekly, not quite sure what she's supposed to believe anymore.
he chuckles, running his hands through his hair. "we were just laughing and talking — we were drunk, but nothing like what you're thinking of happened."
she stops short, her heart stopping. "so, nothing really happened?"
"nothing happened." he confirms and she deflates.
tears fill her eyes as she glances down at the floor in clear embarrassment and regret. "oh, god. i'm an idiot."
he laughs, walking over to her to cup her face in his hands. "no, you're not. you're just scared. just like me. right?"
she wordlessly nods, still emotional and embarrassed.
he simply nods and pulls her into his side, hugging her with her arms wrapped around his torso and his chin resting on the top of her head.
"looking at it now. last december. (last december). we were built to fall apart. then fall back together. (back together)."
the screaming match happening in the middle of the living room has gotten so bad that the rest of the team has gone out for dinner.
what is this about, you ask?
well, in a way the cat's out of the bag.
you see, most of the team, including tony and natasha, walked into the kitchen, catching bucky and [y/n] sharing a few stolen kisses.
they'd finally found out about their relationship. and most of them were just shocked.
but, a few others were pretty judgmental and critical about it, like tony.
and thus, leading them to the fight that's happening right now.
"i don't get what the hell you wanted me to do!" bucky yells, raising his hands up in the air.
"oh my god. you can't be serious right now!" she yells back, shaking her head at him in disbelief.
"i am! what the fuck were you expecting?! i was trying to protect us." he screams, becoming too heated, which only sets [y/n] off more.
"first of all, i wanted you to defend me! maybe defend our relationship when tony insulted me and our relationship! and secondly, you weren't protecting us! you were just protecting yourself — just like before!"
he rolls his eyes and scoffs. "why are you always turning this into something it's not?! i've been trying to protect our relationship since the beginning!"
"oh really? because it sure as hell doesn't seem like it!" she yells, her tears finally falling.
"you know what? i'm done!" she exclaims, taking a deep breath as she turns to one of the couches to grab her things.
"this was just a big mistake. and i can't fucking take it anymore." she mutters, but bucky hears it perfectly.
panic fills him, just as much as the guilt fills him.
"wait, sweetheart. don't go." he calls out, walking up to her as she starts to walk over to the door that leads to the exit.
"why?" she whips around to face him, her face red from the screaming and crying and her voice is croaky from said-screaming.
"why, james? all this has caused is pain," she mutters now, looking away from him. "we've had more pain and drama than we've had any good moments or happiness."
his face softens. "doll, that's not true. and you know it."
"look," he murmurs, grabbing her chin with his forefinger and turning her face, so that she's looking at him. "i'm sorry for the yelling. and for not defending you — i was just stressed. but, that's no excuse."
"please, just give us a chance. i promise it'll be worth it."
[y/n] sighs quietly, thinking for a moment.
after a few minutes, she can't help but agree. "okay. one more try."
he smiles, before pulling her into his arms and chest, hoping for something better for them.
[y/n], however, hugs him back with a stressed and worried glint in her eyes. is all of this pain really worth it?
"ooh, your necklace hanging from my neck. the night we couldn't forget. when we decided, we decided. to move the furniture so we could dance. baby, like we stood a chance. two paper airplanes flying, flying, flying. and i remember thinking."
bucky can't help the fond smile that forms on his lips as he admires the way his dog tags hang around his girl's neck.
even without makeup and wearing one of his henley's and her own comfy pajama pants with a messy bun, he still thought she looked absolutely jaw-droppingly beautiful.
something was shifting between them and he knew in this exact moment.
but suddenly, he's shaken out of his daze when she suddenly pushes the furniture away from the floor, along with some of the tables.
"babydoll, what are you doing with that?" he asks with a raised eyebrow, his body growing warm at the excited smile and the giggles that leave her lips.
"we're going to dance, silly!" she says, as if it's completely obvious.
"whoa, whoa," he says as she walks over to him excitedly and he lifts his hands up in the air, to motion for her to stop her actions.
"i don't dance. and also, there's no music." he tries to reason with her, but she simply rolls her eyes at him and grabs his hands and pulls him towards her in the middle of the floor.
"yeah, right. steve's told me stories about how you'd take all of your hookups dancing! and there doesn't need to be music!"
bucky chuckles, moving closer to her.
he puts his hands on her hips and hers around his neck, him unknowingly and unconsciously already starting to dance with her.
"we both know that you're more than just a hookup. so, i guess you're worth my terrible and lack of dancing." he says teasingly, waggling his eyebrows at her.
she laughs, unclasping her hands and pulling them away from his neck to cover up her flaming, blushing face and hide it from him.
he smiles, slowly pulling them away to see her face. "darling, i want to say you're gorgeous face."
she flushes even more. "it's not! you're just saying that."
his face changes into something serious. "yeah, i am just saying that because it's true."
she groans and rolls her eyes as she places her hands back around his neck.
"fine! you win," she mumbles, but she then says quickly and defensively, "just this one time!" when he smirks in victory.
and true to his word, bucky doesn't dance very gracefully.
but, considering the stories she's heard about him in the forties — back before all of that super soldier and nazi stuff happened — she chooses to believe that he only danced clumsily and silly to make her laugh.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
she tries to ignore both the concerned and judgey looks her friends keep giving her.
she'd just told natasha and wanda the truth about her relationship with bucky.
and to say they haven't been completely supportive is a big understatement — it's not that they're bad friends and could care less, it's more about the fact that bucky's been known to break hearts and they worry that their friend will be caught in the crossfire.
"what?" she asks, her voice coming out small.
"are you sure you want to do this with him?" natasha asks, raising a single brow at her in question.
wanda nods in agreement. "yeah. are you absolutely sure that you wanna get into a relationship with him?"
[y/n] scoffs in disbelief. "are you kidding me right now?" she asks, seeing the confused looks they share as they look at each other.
"we just mean that he's not exactly known as a commitment type-of-guy." wanda says hesitantly.
natasha nods. "it's true — he's broken a lot of women's hearts."
"wow," [y/n] mutters in further disbelief. "neither of you have any right to judge. we've all done things we regret! and let's not forget all of the hearts you guys broke!" she exclaims in a whisper as she suddenly gets up from her seat at the kitchen's counter table and marches up the stairs to her bedroom.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet, good."
bucky knocks on the door gently.
he hears quiet sniffles and then a shaky voice say, "come in."
he tries to mentally prepare himself for what drama could be on the other side of the door — he doesn't mean this as an insult, it's just that so many people have been causing them and their new and blossoming relationship extremely complicated for them.
as he opens the door, his face falls at the upset and red face of his girlfriend's.
shutting the door softly, he walks over to her.
it's quiet as he crawls over to the other side of the bed and pulls her into his arms.
"why don't they support us?" she cries, her feelings being a little too hurt from the conversation that she had with her best friends.
he sighs, holding her tight, with his chin over her head.
"i don't know." he says, really not knowing either.
"it's going to be alright, okay?" he murmurs as she buries her face into his chest, crying even harder.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
"buck, i'm not sure this is a good idea." steve states from the couch, nodding towards [y/n], who's standing alone in the kitchen; she's numbly opening a water bottle as her eyes catch the scene of wanda and natasha talking and laughing on the far side of the kitchen.
bucky sighs, his gaze softening, before he turns back to face his best friend.
"what are you trying to tell me, steve?" he asks, giving him a tense — but pointed — stare.
"no offense, but you can't ignore the way you are with women," he briefly expains, continuing on when bucky stares at him silently, daring him to go on, "you can't commit to her, buck!" he whisper-yells, not wanting to catch anyone's attention with their conversation.
bucky scoffs, shaking his head at his best friend's judgement. aren't your friends supposed to not judge you?
"i'm sorry, bucky," he says, stepping up to stand with him. "i'm not trying to gang up on you — i'm just worried about both of you. and i don't want [y/n] to get caught in the middle of it, with her heart broken."
bucky scoffs again and walks away.
"buck!" steve calls, feeling bad for the way he approached this situation.
"no!" he yells, cutting any other words he could say off and catching the attention of everyone else.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good. (are we out of the woods?)"
"hey..." [y/n] murmurs softly, walking over to the open hall that leads to the living room and kitchen.
bucky sighs, that anger still bubbling inside of him.
"it's okay, james." she murmurs softly, moving to gently touch his flesh arm and rubbing it comfortingly.
bucky groans, some of that anger dimming down a little bit.
but then, he remembers the conversation between him and steve and that anger comes right back.
he clenches his jaw, staring at the wall behind her.
she notices this again.
"hey, look at me." she murmurs softly, now cupping his face.
he sighs and looks at her this time.
"what did he say?" she asks, bringing one of her hands up and into his hair, in order to calm him even more.
he doesn't answer her.
although, he asks her a different question, "do you think that i've hurt every woman i've come into contact with?"
[y/n]'s puzzled now, her eyebrows knitting together as she tilts her head in confusion.
"what do you mean?"
"do you think i'll hurt you?" he asks, his voice wavering in unexpected emotions.
"what? james, of course not. why are you asking me this?" she asks seriously, grabbing one of his hands from across his chest to hold it carefully — the metal one.
he tries to ignore the dread and worry filling him at her holding his metal hand.
"so, you're not worried?" he asks again.
"i mean, i'm scared. but that's because of my own issues. it's not because of you — i know you would never purposely hurt me." she says truthfully, moving her other hand to cup his face, smiling softly at the ticklish feeling of the growing scruff on his jaw.
"you promise?" he asks, tears filling his eyes.
"hey," she says, stepping even closer to him and this time, placing both of her hands over his cheeks. "it's okay. i promise."
"remember when you hit the brakes too soon? twenty stitches in a hospital room. when you started crying, baby, i did too. but when the sun came up, i was looking at you."
it all happened too fast.
since [y/n] and bucky have been inseparable — especially with their friends seeing that nothing could tear them apart now — tony and steve decided to pair them up in a simple mission.
all they needed to do was go to a recently revealed hydra base and get some files.
but, the plan didn't go right. in fact, it all went terribly wrong.
[y/n] was supposed to go into one of the rooms to copy their files off of one of the computers with the thumb drive she brought with them, while bucky stood and watched guard.
but, things just went horribly wrong when something drew him away from the door of the room she was in — he thought it would only be a second, just to make sure he could be on top of any sudden attacks.
but, turns out, it was quite a few hydra soldiers trying to distract him.
and before he knew it, by the time he made it back — after finally getting the upper hand on the enemy agents and knocking them out — he came back only to see the door of the room slightly ajar and everything too quiet.
panic filled him as he walked into the room, lightly pushing the door open.
his jaw dropped when he saw another agent standing over a weak [y/n] lying on the floor, who was holding her abdomen in clear pain.
shaky gasps left her lips as she kept pushing herself further and further away from the smirking man before her.
but, before he could even take a step further to cause her even more pain, bucky didn't hesitate; he stepped closer and faster and quickly drew out his gun and knocked him out on the back of the head.
a shocked and pained groan left his mouth, before his body dropped to the ground.
and with that, he had ran over to [y/n] to help her up, panicking much more as he had finally realized what happened.
now as she lies unconscious, bucky continues to let the racing thoughts consume his entire being.
he holds her hands in his own, his chair scooted to reach her bedside and his head leant over their connected hands.
a sharp intake of breath and a pained groan draws his attention away from his intrusive thoughts.
he snaps his head up, his eyes filling with tears.
"james? what's... what's going on? what happened?" she croaks out, trying to clear her throat of the dryness.
"baby... you were shot." he murmurs, his voice wavering in worry.
"but... did we get the files?" she asks, only one thing on her mind.
he laughs. "doll, you got shot and you're more concerned about the mission?"
she shrugs. "i just don't want to disappoint anyone."
"you're not." he says honestly, holding her hands tighter.
after a few moments of silence, bucky dips his head down to take a deep breath.
"i really thought i was going to lose you, back there." he mutters, tears spilling.
"james..." she says, sitting up so that she can grab his chin and lift it up gently.
"it's okay." she whispers, wiping away the tears.
"it's not." he says, crying for the first time since she woke up.
"i know." she murmurs, smiling softly at him. "but, i'm okay."
he sighs and nods.
"remember when we couldn't take the heat? i walked out, i said 'i'm setting you free'. but the monsters turned out to be just trees. when the sun came up you were looking at me."
she couldn't believe what was happening right now — she's couldn't believe what she was hearing.
how could he do this to her? now? after everything they've been through?
"are... are you serious right now?" she asks, barely even a whisper.
tears fill her eyes over him refusing to look her in the eyes.
"tell me you're not serious!" she exclaims, suddenly standing up.
he stays silent.
"no." she says to herself, in denial and refusing to believe any of this.
he finally turns to her, his face cold and unfamiliar to her. "yes, i'm serious. i can't do this anymore."
she gapes at him, the tears filling her eyes — she's absolutely speechless.
but, when he turns around and starts to walk over to her bedroom door — to walk out — she springs into action.
"no! don't walk away — don't walk away from us!" she yells, racing over to him to grab his flesh wrist and stopping him from walking any further.
although, she knows that he can easily leave and escape her shaking hand — being a strong super soldier, and all.
he scoffs, turning to face her a cold look in his eyes — she couldn't recognize the man standing in front of her.
"i am walking away. it's for the better," he mumbles, before saying his next choice of words, clearer as ever, "we. are. done."
he walks out and as he slams the door shut, [y/n] can only cry and sob with heaving breaths as she falls to the ground — she can't believe he's done this.
maybe everyone was right about them — about him — this entire time.
"you were looking at me, oh. you were looking at me. (are we out of the woods yet?) (are we out of the woods yet?) (are we out of the woods yet?) (are we out of the woods?)"
she was miserable.
and so was he — he was just better at hiding it.
[y/n]'s quiet at game night.
everyone's crowded in the living room and the room is filled with loud chatter.
bucky's talking with steve animatedly, as if they never argued about [y/n] before.
seeing this, [y/n] ignores the blinding tears that are pricking at her eyes and turns away from everyone else.
she tries to make it through the rest of the night, but she can't.
she's abrupt as she gets up from the couch, from being smushed in between natasha and wanda.
she doesn't say anything in excuse from her actions.
instead, she starts walking down the hall to her bedroom, the tears finally falling freely.
"i remember. (are we in the clear yet?) (are we in the clear yet?) oh, i remember."
it's quiet for a moment as everyone watches the empty hall — the one that [y/n] had just walked through.
then, natasha stands up and walks over to bucky with a look of pure anger on her face.
loud gasps and yells sound in the room as the black widow slaps him hard on the face.
bucky is shocked, but also not.
steve stands up to hold natasha back. "alright, nat. calm down."
she scoffs. "why should i? he's the one that broke her heart!" she yells, still very much angry and protective over her best friend.
everyone else watches with shocked faces, except for wanda, natasha, steve, and bucky.
wanda watches in silent anger — she feels just as angry and protective, she's just more calm and quiet about it.
natasha is still just as angry as she glares at bucky.
steve is both bewildered, but not shocked at all.
and bucky? well, he's just filled with so much guilt.
"look, i know you guys will never understand," he starts, his eyes cast on the ground. "but, i did to protect her."
wanda scoffs. "to protect her? by hurting her? what the hell is wrong with you, barnes?!" she exclaims, jumping up from her seat and having just about enough of this, to just stay quiet.
he sighs. "you don't get it." he mutters, already giving up.
besides, why should he try to convince them that it's not what they think, if they're already assuming the worst of him?
"then explain it, man!" steve suddenly says, shocking everyone in the room — steve's always been in bucky's corner.
but, what can he say? [y/n]'s always been his soft spot — she's like a sister to him and he'd do just about anything to protect her, even if it's from his best friend.
"i'm trying to protect her from me!" he yells suddenly, millions of different wild emotions crossing his face.
"buck, what do you mean?" steve asks, slowly walking over to him, upon seeing the exhausted and pained look on his face.
"i'm bad for her, alright? you guys were right," he says tightly, motioning to natasha and wanda. "i am a piece of shit when it comes to committing to women. and ever since steve and i talked, i couldn't get it out of my head — i knew deep down that i was only going to hurt her and i couldn't do it anymore."
"but, don't you care about her? don't you remember those good moments with her?" steve asks quietly and gently.
"it doesn't matter. the best thing i can do for her is walk away." he says, rolling his eyes at all of their reactions.
"why are you guys fucking shocked like this? you all have been unsupportive from the very beginning!" he yells, throwing his hands up in the air.
before anyone else can say anything to convince him otherwise, he pushes past them and walks to his own bedroom.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good."
weeks have gone past, but for [y/n], it felt like so much longer.
things have only gotten worse for her — the heartache of bucky walking out on her and their relationship has really taken a toll on her.
even as the red-headed ex-assassin talks to her, it all goes over her head.
natasha's voice feels muffled and far away as she feels completely haunted by the memories of bucky.
a shake to her shoulder brings her out of her daze. "[y/n]!"
"huh? what?" she asks, her voice blank.
natasha gives her a pointed look. "i'm serious. you need to talk to bucky."
she scoffs at hearing these words. "why? he's made it perfectly clear that he doesn't give a shit about me." she mutters, pushing back the tears.
the red head shakes her head. "i'm serious. i think he might be just as miserable as you are." she says, trying to persuade her best friend.
[y/n] glares at her. "why do you even care? you've been against us from the very beginning!"
natasha simply shrugs. "well, now i'm not."
[y/n] rolls her eyes. "how is that even possible?"
"because i've seen the change." she briefly explains.
[y/n] refuses to let those words change anything for her. even if her heart flutters at the thought of him changing himself or his mind.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
another party. great. another event i have to pretend like i'm not completely miserable.
[y/n] couldn't help the bitter thought in her head.
but, it seemed that things were only going to get worse.
one minute, she was talking excitedly with wanda and natasha.
and the next? she's feeling her entire body freeze up with her heart stopping as she watches something happen that she should've been expecting to happen soon enough.
how could she expect him to not move on so fast, when it was so easy for him to leave their relationship?
[y/n] gulps, trying to blink away the tears as she watches some mysterious, gorgeous woman leaning into bucky's personal space with a big smile on her face.
as if sensing her eyes on them, both of them turn to look over at her; the mystery woman with confusion and curiosity, and bucky with guilt and something else she can't decipher.
she shakes her head, walking away — away from the man that shattered her heart and her two, confused best friends.
"are we in the clear yet? (yeah). are we in the clear yet? (yeah). are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good."
she wishes she could actually kill herself just about right now.
how did she have the bad luck, to run into him in the kitchen? let alone with just them by themselves?
she's been able to avoid him whenever they've been surrounded by their friends, but this is the first time since their big breakup fight that they're really alone with each other.
"sweetheart—" he starts to say, but she cuts him off, holding a hand up.
—"don't worry about it. we broke up — it was messy — but i don't want to talk about it, okay? i just want to move on."
although her words come out as a lie, bucky believes it and it just about kills him.
he swallows his pride and every urge that he has that makes him want to come crawling back to her and get her back. "i just wanted to, uh, apologize for everything — i want to move on as well."
half of her was expecting that he was going to prove what natasha had said about him, but let's just say, she's extremely let down.
she fakes a smile, nodding. "right."
"yeah, exactly."
they both lie through their teeth.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
everyone watches the two as they talk quietly.
but, despite the fact that they are on talking terms, everyone can see that it's not the same.
"this is weird." sam whispers to steve, watching them with an amused look on his face.
steve sighs, frowning. "yeah. it is."
natasha turns to face them, blocking their view of bucky and [y/n]. "i thought he was going to get her back!" she whispers as she glares at them.
steve sighs, sharing a look with sam.
"well, he was," steve says, before sam finishes for him, "but then, she was talking about moving on and it really just ruined everything."
"man, she has no idea how whipped he is for her." sam mutters, steve nodding along in agreement.
wanda chimes in, frowning, "this is so painful to watch."
she nods to them, all of them quickly taking notice of how when one of them looks away from the other, they give the other a longing, sad look.
with that, wanda groans quietly, before getting up and walking away.
despite the both of them acting all content, both bucky and [y/n] are hurting deeply on the inside.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good."
things had shifted recently — between [y/n] and bucky.
everyone could see it. just... not them.
things were still tense and they both were still hurting, but it was sort of bearable now.
"how do they not know? seriously!" kate murmurs, watching the pair giggling and discussing a book they have in common in disbelief.
peter — just as appalled — nods and points to kate, whole heartedly agreeing.
tony raises his eyebrows in shock. "i have no idea."
the rest of the group continues to watch confusedly as the pair become even more cute, if that's even possible.
a lot of them, like tony, yelena, clint, and some other watch in disgust, while some others watch in fondness.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
bucky watches intensely, jaw clenching and his baby blue eyes turning cold.
he shouldn't have expected them to get back to their old selves, especially after what he put her through.
but, watching pietro and [y/n] practically flirting right before his eyes, it completely shatters his heart.
he thought walking out on her to protect her was the worst thing he ever had to do.
but no. seeing her with someone else — right in front of him — that's so much worse.
"for christ's sake! barnes, go over there and get your girl!" tony complains, rolling his eyes.
bucky doesn't move his eyes off of the woman in the room.
he hears her laugh at pietro, and it kills him.
"i can't. she doesn't want me back." the words are hard to say, but he says them.
"that's a load of bullshit, barnes," natasha says, rolling her eyes when he turns to her in disbelief. "anyone with eyes here can see that she's completely in love with you."
bucky sighs, turning back to look at her again. "no. she's not."
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good."
things were intense between bucky and [y/n], to say the least.
especially, after natasha marched over to her and pietro and pulled her to the side, and spilled how heartbroken and longing bucky was over her.
it must've been hours after that.
she left pietro to hang out with the rest of her friends, while she spent most of her time in her dark and quiet bedroom.
no matter what she tried to do — to distract herself — she just couldn't stop thinking about him.
knowing that he thought that she was moving on — that he thought that she didn't want him back anymore — it kept her up, all night.
even when everyone was asleep, she couldn't sleep.
so, instead, she walks out of her bedroom and down to the kitchen.
taking in a deep, shaky breath, she walks over to kitchen sink, trying her best to find a cup and the knob for the sink in the darkness.
although, before she can get her water, the kitchen light flicks on, flooding the room with brightness.
she whips around, only to find herself face-to-face with bucky.
"why are you up so early, doll?" he asks, trying to ignore how her eyes linger on his bare chest.
she looks away. "couldn't sleep."
when she looks back at him, and notices that longing gaze in his pretty blue eyes, she blurts it out, "i'm still in love with you."
he stops breathing for a split second. "what?" he utters in a mere whisper.
she takes in a deep breath, hoping to god that this is the right decision. "i... i can't keep this in any longer, james," she says as she puts her cup down on the counter and walks a little closer to him.
"i've been hiding this for so long. even in the beginning of our relationship, i knew that things had changed between us — and for the better. i knew exactly what i felt for you and it killed me when you walked out on me." she tries to say, her voice breaking as she recalls their messy breakup.
"sweetheart, i'm so sorry about that. i didn't mean—" he starts to apologize, but she cuts him off with a gentle voice, —"james, it's okay. i forgive you."
"how can you? i hurt you — exactly in the way that i hoped i wouldn't, like everyone was telling all of us." he interrupts her once more, the guilt absolutely consuming him.
she laughs, taking another step closer to him.
"because... i love you. i think i have from the moment we met." she says, tears in her eyes and giving him a happy smile.
"you saved me, bucky. i never thought i would find love again, but you showed me that i can."
he gulps nervously as she finally gets as close to him as she can.
"james, i'm so in love with you i can't breathe without you. and i can't be with anyone — not pietro, no one — unless it's you." she says, laughing with happiness as she cups his face in her hands.
his face fills with an insane amount of relief and shock. "are you serious? you're not messing with me?"
she shakes her head, now wrapping her hands around his neck, while his find their way to her hips.
"it's true, james. i love you — only you." she says with so much love in her voice, leaning her forehead over his.
he laughs, feeling both relief and the biggest amount of happiness and love he's ever felt before.
"i love you too, doll," he murmurs, closing his eyes and wrapping his arms around her body to pull her closer to him. "i could never stop loving you."
she smiles. "you promise?"
he nods, before his eyes glance down at her lips, hers following quickly after him.
they're both fighting the urge to take things too fast, so fast.
but, with her missing him so badly, she lets herself lose control.
"bucky?" she whispers breathlessly.
"yeah?" he asks, his voice raspy.
"would you kiss me already?" she asks, laughing when he nods with no hesitation.
without another second wasted, he connects their lips and pours everything into that kiss — her doing the same.
maybe even after all that drama and heartache, they made it — they found their way back to each other.
bucky pulls away — far too soon. "i am never leaving you again." he promises, holding her head in his hands.
she scoffs. "you better not."
"never again." he swears, pulling her back in, to appreciate that he has her back in his life and in his arms.
she giggles in excitement as he pulls away and wraps his arms around her waist, lifting her up into the air and spinning them around.
her arms wrap around his neck as her legs lift up into the air as he continues to spin them around.
"god, i love you." bucky murmurs, moving his head to kiss the side of her head when he sets her back down.
"i love you too, james buchanan barnes." she says with brutal honesty.

“Bucky if you stare at the scale any longer I’m going to break it. Holidays are over, you can get back to being in the gym twenty-five eight.”
Bucky eyed his petite girlfriend, frowning from the doorway to the bathroom. He palmed his stupid fucking gut and sighed, he actually had to suck in to see the number! This is why Bucky hated the holidays. Besides being cold. James Buchanan Barnes very much disliked the cold, one could assume why.
He could handle the residual un-moveable pudge leftover from Hydra’s ever consistent tinkering with his bodily functions. But then it all started with Halloween. Wanda and his girlfriend loved to bake. So he’s getting force fed cookies. Then they need to decorate, go to functions, give out candy. No time for gym.
Bucky grumbled and stepped off the scale, padding to his closet. He grumbled more, “Stupid turkey holiday.” Great yes, the holiday known for feasting. Pumpkin spiced everything in his vision. Bucky had a weakness for pumpkin, his ma made good spiced bread. He took a short vacation with his lovely little angel to the mountains. He tried to rationalize that hiking and marathon sex would make up for the amount of food he had ingested.
Tony Stark of course had a grandiose Thanksgiving celebration. Bucky tried to keep it light, he did, he really did. But every refusal got sad eyes or downright offense. The former winter soldier was belly up by the end of the night, all gym plans out the window.
Christmas fared no better. His best gal absolutely adored Christmas. It was the first holiday she’d experience not as an asset to Hydra, just like Bucky. So instead of RUNNING or LIFTING, the Brunette was shopping and ice skating. He’d already gone up a size in clothes December 3rd to be exact. Bucky correctly guessed he would go up another post-Christmas.
He’d whinge and rant to Steve, the blondie listening and telling Bucky to chill— it’s not like anyone thought it was bad. Bucky exasperatedly shouted, “I’m like a goddamn balloon! I don’t need to be on missions like this! I’m going to Bruce, jerk.”
“Punk.”
Bruce didn’t help either. Just said once he got back into a routine it would come off and he’d be at his regular weight. Refused to give Bucky Ozempic either. Some kinda doctor he was, his patient was obviously distraught.
“Are you dressed yet?,” she hollered.
“Give me a second!,” Bucky pouted.
He was going to pout today. Go to gym, get anger out, and pout. So he shimmied on some catastrophically tight basketball shorts and the biggest shirt he could find. Luckily it covered him up. May or may not have been a panic buy. Bucky cursed some more sitting on his bench to lace up his shoes, stupid gut getting in the way.
Red faced and irritated he snarked, “Happy now princess? I’m going to the gym, nothing is stopping me, I will be going to work out.” She grinned and watched him grab his bag, slapping a round ass cheek on his way out. Bucky shuddered at the wobble. Her familiar rasp rang out, “Nice ass baby! Go get em!”
He was too old for this. Technically his girl was ten years his junior if you took off the cryogenic time. He loved her dearly, always bubbly, somehow remained optimistic after all she’d been through. But the little freak liked Bucky’s pudge, loved it. Always grabbing up on it.
Bucky took the stairs to the gym. He needed it. The brunette thought with a smirk that if he had a nickel for every time he had to remove her hands from his ‘handles of love’ he would’ve been a millionaire back during the Depression. He grimaced at the feeling of his chubby tummy and thick thighs.
Finally. He’d made it. Gym time.
Not a soul in sight, Bucky could just relax and get his frustrations out. With a fuck-ton of a cardio and some toning exercises— really didn’t need any muscle to bulk him out more. He felt a bit peaceful for once, a strange bravado coming over him. The soldier stretched his unused muscles and did a bit of breathing exercises.
God, he already felt lighter. Maybe. Maybe he would take a picture and see if the camera made him look different. Bucky’s therapist already hammered him about his ‘body dysmorphia and negative self-image’.
Taking a peak about and tying his hair half up, Bucky propped the camera at a flattering angle and yanked off his shirt. He refused to look in a mirror for the holidays unless he was clothed. Fiddling with the inane controls, the man finally had the thing on a timer. He pulled off his shirt and tried to pose, straighten up his back again.
The flash went off and he ran to the phone, hit send, then sat down on a nearby bench to look fully. The brunette had to keep his ‘body positive!’ thoughts at the forefront. His chest and legs looked good. Face didn’t look too puffy thanks beard.
Disgust picked the earlier bravado up and hulk smashed it. Buck’s eyes were glued to his rounded belly and fat hips, a muffin over those horrid shorts. There, oh my god, there were stretchmarks on him? Bucky never had stretchmarks! Not the red kind! But there they were— mocking him. Ragged lines on his hips and sections of stomach.
He deleted the picture, feeling horrid. He should run more. But not before the pings blowing up his phone. She was strange and texted in 5 different messages that could’ve been sent in one singular text.
“Babbbbyyyy omg you’re so hot”
“Fuck, I’m getting all flustered in this debrief.”
“Look at that pretty body. Wanna lick those pretty stripes, tiger.”
“I’m so horny lmfao get your ass back to the room in 30. I’m gonna fucking ride you so goddamn hard.”
Bucky blinked a bit, feeling himself perk up. He still was a overblown balloon, but at-least the weirdo he loved enjoyed it. “Tiger huh,” he murmured, scratching at the sensitive marks. Bucky had a time limit now, snatching his gear up and stuffing it into a bag, hustling down the stairs to his room.
“Hey Buck,” Sam’s voice was a blur as Bucky entered his room. He smirked a bit hearing a muffled, “Weird ass.” The super soldier kept his mind on the prize— getting the daylights fucked out of him by his girls. Nope he wasn’t going to pay attention to the chafe on the inside of his thighs one bit. Okay...maybe he’d powder the area after the shower.
All he had to do was wait now. Wait. Not get nerved about his very naked body. He felt like a pile of exposed lard but it’ll be okay. Yep. Bucky would be fine. Pussy would fix his problems. As long as she played nice and didn’t tease. That rendered Bucky into a teary, babbling mess. Either he was always a masochist or Hydra made him into one but God— sometimes when she got mean he saw stars.
The door busted open, Bucky feeling relief at her grinning face. She gently closed it behind her, stripping easily while throwing her panties at him. He caught the material, moaning softly as she growled, “See what you did to me in the middle of that debrief? Had to cut it short my pheromones were so bad.”
Bucky inspected the panties, eyes fluttering at the slick wetting the cloth. He gripped and inhaled, hand flying down to soothe his cock. A lithe body crawled to the end of the bed, the soldier flushing as she seated herself in between his thighs. Keeping him in fucking missionary, her manicured nails spreading him a bit. He gasped, body jolting at the exposure.
Her perky tits heaved as she groped at his thighs and slid down to get handfuls of his round ass. Bucky threw his head back and moaned, “W-What are you up to?” Earlier mentioned pheromones were making his body keyed up and sensitive, pupils likely swallowing up blue eyes. She leaned forward, taught body against his cock.
“Mmm- I don’t know really. You just looked so delicious,” she kissed his belly and cooed, “I know you’re upset with yourself right now, Buck, you’re fucking gorgeous. Holiday weight or not. But I’ll even go to the gym with you, know I’ve been a distraction.”
Bucky slurred a name, hands reaching for her waist, she was so sweet. He sighed, “I enjoyed you as my distraction, best disss-traction everrr. Fuck you’re makin’ me horny babydoll.” She crawled up his bigger body to plant a kiss on Bucky’s swollen lips before sliding back to her place. His cock leaked when she giggled, “I know, poor baby’s all achy for me. But I wanna do something first.”
She slid palms up and down Bucky’s muscled arms, soothing him a little. Then the she-devil gripped his chunky love-handles and shook, watching with poorly-disguised glee. Bucky whined, “Baaaby, stoppp, it’s awful!”
“Think of them as tiger stripes, they’ll fade out when you drop weight,” she dug under where his belly hung a bit and traced at his most sensitive stretch marks. Bucky let out an indecent noise, thrusting up into her sweet touch. The fellow avenger cooed, “S’that feel good tiger? Need some lotion. Pretty boy.”
Bucky outright whimpered when her hand wrapped around his weepy cock, already slick from copious pre. She slowly moved her hand, praising him. Pretty boy, smart, handsome, good, kind, helpful.
He was going to bust a nut before anything happened. Bucky barked, “B-babe, stop! Stop!” Her pretty brows knitted together, hand jerking away as she asked, “What’s wrong bub?” He panted, “Gimme a second, w-wanna fuck you so baaaad.” She gently stroked the outside of thick muscled thighs, padded with love in her opinion.
“Thought I was going to ride you?,” she asked, face beginning to flush.
Bucky shook his head, managing to push himself up to get face-to-face. His soft body filled the tight space between them, making her whimper now. Bucky used one hand to caress the side of her face, the other massaging her pretty tit. Long lashes fluttered, her lips falling open.
Score. He managed to somewhat fumble through the pheromone fog.
Bucky rumbled, “Nuh-uh, all this talk about my body and you don’t want me to pin you down and fill your pretty pussy up? Hm sweetheart?” He punctuated the sentence with a deep kiss, the sweet thing easily giving up to him. It was fun when she played mean but Bucky had more experience— he could play his girl like a fucking fiddle.
“C’mon,” smack, “use your,” smack, “words baby,” smack smack. She didn’t want to stop kissing, sucking on his bottom lip as he pulled away. She blushed, embarrassed on how fast the situation had flipped. His girl whined, “Yeah, c’mon fuck me, fuck me full daddy.” He grinned and laid back, strong arms pulling her atop him.
She squealed, eyes widening. Bucky purred, “You know what to do, Daddy’ll let you on top.” He bit his swollen lip again watching the tip of his clock get swallowed by molten heat, the pair of them shuddering in ecstasy. Her little hands planted on his chest, panting and whining at the fullness. He’d get to work, holding that pretty waist and fucking up into her tight cunt.
It wasn’t long before she was crying out and laying atop his body, gasping, “Y’feel so good! Ah! Soft and oh god s’fucking hard!” Bucky sucked at her neck and thrust into her with downright pornographic slaps. He grunted and gasped, legs wonderfully getting another workout.
He murmured into her ear, a hand stilling all that writhing the poor thing was doing, “Yeah doll? Daddy fucking you good? Feels good to lay on Daddy and get your pussy pounded huh?” She sobbed, clenching and spilling tears on his neck, “Yes daddy! Yes! Don’t stop, fuckfuckfuck, s’rubbing my clit! I love you Daddy!”
Bucky’s eyes crossed for a second. What?
The evil flab that curses his very existence is a free clit rubber? He moaned in delight. Bucky changed their position some to milk out that new fact. Might as well abuse it before it’s gone. His baby was clinging to him now, mewling his name, pussy spasming sporadically. Bucky tilted her head up, melting at her pretty eyes. He rasped, “Come for Daddy baby, know you’re close, let go babydoll.”
He was grinding the tip of his cock into her soft spot while cooing at her. She hiccuped on a sob, the entirety of lean frame tightening down on him. His baby was a lot stronger than she looked. He could feel her core clamp and soak his cock, sending Bucky reeling into his own orgasm with a hoarse shout. He whimpered at the feeling of his balls drawing painfully tight, emptying all he had pent up.
They laid in a pile of sweat and spend, probably love. She was still subbed out, nuzzling into Bucky, only making a soft noise when his soft cock slid out. The brunette guessed it was his turn to return her earlier favor. He felt like the man of the hour. Crazy little kitten thought her geriatric overweight cyborg assassin was hot. Even with the holiday pounds.
So he pressed little kisses, rubbed her back, waxed poetic nonsense of his love for her. Bucky was a lover boy back in the day, just a little rusty, not like his Babygirl was on planet Earth right now anyways. She murmured into his neck with a dopey smile, “Tiger.”
Once again, crazy fellow asset saving Bucky’s wavering self-esteem. How lucky was he?

Make You Feel My Love (Bucky Barnes x Reader)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Plus Sized Female Reader
Summary: “I will tell you everyday how much I love you and how perfect you are to me. If you can’t believe it for yourself, I’ll believe it for both of us.” When the reader is having trouble loving herself, Bucky tries to remind her.
Warnings: Angsty beginning with happy ending; talk about gaining weight/slightly negative body talk; slight allusions to smut (blink and you'll miss them); mentions of past injury (gsw, passing out).
Author's Note: For me, being plus sized can be great and sometimes not so great. So I wrote this story for me and I hope that you like it. Comments and reblogs always appreciated!
************************************************************************
“I’m not going!”
Bucky leaned his head against the door to the bathroom and sighed.
“Doll, please come out so we can talk?”
“No! Bucky I’m not going so can you please leave?”
“Baby, please I just want to talk to you.”
Bucky waited, and he could feel his heart cracking when he heard the muffled sniffles coming from the bathroom. He glanced over to the doorway into his room and shook his head at Steve and Wanda, who were peering into the room. They slowly backed away as he continued to knock on the bathroom door.
There was a September Foundation gala happening in just over four hours and the compound was buzzing with preparations. Tony had been at the tower all week, waltzing around and telling a team of interns and designers to move decorations three inches to the left (with Pepper following close behind to move them back to their proper place). The team was in full glam mode with stylists and makeup artists running from room to room.
Which is why when he’d heard the slam of the door to Y/N’s room and a personal stylist huffing angrily down the corridor, he had poked his head into her room to see what the matter was. Only to catch the tail of her robe disappearing into her bathroom. He’d knocked, only to be denied entry with a firm refusal to open the door. Which is where he was now, standing barefoot in front of her bathroom begging her to let him in.
“Can you at least tell me if you need me to track down that stylist and put the fear of God in them?” he tried.
“Please don’t, Bucky.” Y/N whimpered and Bucky sobered immediately.
“Baby, please let me in because I’m starting to panic and I will break down this door if I have to. Especially if someone hurt you.” he said gravely.
“No one hurt me, Buck! Please I just need you to leave me alone!” she insisted. Bucky sighed, turning from the door to sit beside it. He was trying really hard to not let the rejection sting, but there was a part of him deep down that was still bothered.
He and Y/N had been together just a little over 8 months. She had started working at the compound a few weeks after he’d joined the Avengers as an analyst and had become an integral part of the team. He’d never known mission briefings to be as interesting as they were once Y/N had come aboard. They had flirted, a glimmer of the old Bucky breaking through the trauma and insecurities, and he’d been toying with the idea of asking her to dinner.
But then a mission in Versailles threw a wrench in the plans. It was supposed to be a quick in and out reconnaissance mission: Steve and Nat with Bucky for backup. But Y/N needed to also come to decrypt the files Nat was retrieving from the museum. Nat was on lookout, but the guards were too quick and before she could take them all out and before he had reached the threshold of the office, one had gotten off a shot. Dr. Cho had told them later that a millimeter closer and it would have severed Y/N’s carotid. Instead it had fractured her collar bone and sent her careening into the window behind her, shattering the glass. Bucky had felt a glimmer of the old soldier, long dormant since Shuri’s reprogramming had been successful, take over and the remaining guards were dead before they could draw another breath. Steve ordered him to provide cover as the four of them escaped and flew home as fast as they could. All Bucky remembered from that night was holding Y/N’s hand as she sobbed in pain and whispering assurances in her ear until she passed out from the pain and blood loss.
He hadn’t left her side the two days she was in the med bay. When she woke up after surgery, he was there. He had tried to leave her once, to give her space, but she had already tugged him closer and pulled his lips down to meet hers in a gentle but passionate kiss.
“Sorry it took me so long, but getting shot will do that,” she’d murmured. He’d laughed and kissed her again. And he hadn’t stopped for 8 months.
Now though, he worried that something had happened. Maybe she had finally realized the Soldier and his actions were too much to excuse and she couldn’t bring herself to break it off gently? Maybe she’d found someone with less baggage?
“Y/N. I just…I just need you to know how much I love you. You are the most important thing in the world to me and your happiness is priority number one for me. I…I would not be alive now if it wasn’t for you and you are the reason that I wake up in the morning.”
He heard some shuffling and then he could feel her body lean against the door. He got up and rested his head against where he knew hers would rest.
“I love you too, Bucky.” she whispered. Bucky felt the hole in his heart mend itself and he sighed in relief.
“Baby, I know you might not want to talk about it and if you really don’t want to go tonight, I will respect that. But I really do need you to open the door. Please, because I never want you to feel like you have to shut me out. We’re partners and when something bothers you, it bothers me.”
“I know Buck. It just…ugh I hate this feeling!” she groaned. She sniffled again and Bucky waited.
“My dress doesn’t fit.” she whispered. Bucky felt his heart skip and he sighed in defeat.
Y/N was plus sized. She was a beautiful, confident woman who embraced her curves and never let archaic societal expectations get in the way of loving herself. Bucky was enamored with her confidence and considered her the sexiest woman he’d ever met. But there were days where clothes fit tighter or sitting in a theater was uncomfortable, and Y/N was reminded that the world was not created for people who looked like her. Bucky would try to listen to what she needed in the moment: space, righteous anger, ect. And he was always sure to worship her body when they were alone. He loved all of her, every single part, and he tried everyday to tell her.
The stylists had received strict instructions from Nat and Pepper (and him) to provide more than enough dresses in her size to give her a wide range. She’d had a ball trying them on and modeling them for the girls and she’d promised him that he could have his fun getting her out of the dress (with a slight preview that night).
“Baby,” he murmured sadly.
“I know that I haven’t been eating super well and my shoulder was bothering me so I haven’t been to the training gym in a couple weeks but… I just thought… it hasn’t been that long! And the dress wasn’t snug the last time I tried it on…” she sniffled again.
“Y/N, sweetheart, I’m so sorry. I know how much you loved that dress.” he said into the door.
“It’s dumb,” she said, tearfully. “I shouldn’t be crying over a stupid dress but…it’s just one of those things, y’know?”
“It’s not dumb, Y/N.” Bucky said, vehemently. “Nothing you feel is ever dumb. And you never have to minimize what you’re feeling, especially with me.”
“I know, baby. And I love you so much. I just…I don’t want to feel like this. I’ve worked really hard to love my body and all it takes is a stupid dress for it to all come crashing down.”
Bucky stood silent for a moment, wishing he could take away the hurt she was feeling. Even for a moment.
“Doll? Can you open the door for me? I want to see you.” he murmured gently. He heard Y/N sigh before the lock twisted and the handle turned. He waited as she gently swung the door open.
The dress was a cobalt blue, tea length dress with pleats in the skirt. The bust had molded cups and was held up by thin spaghetti straps. Bucky’s eyes ran up the dress to meet Y/N’s frustrated glance. Her eyes were swollen from crying and she looked frazzled and defeated.
“It’s the most beautiful dress I’ve ever worn, and it won’t freaking zip,” Y/N grumbled, turning and showing Bucky the gaping back. Sure enough, the clasps of her strapless bra and the top of her shapewear showed from between the teeth of the zipper.
“The stylist tried three times to get that zipper to work and they finally gave up. Bucky, this is humiliating!” Y/N’s lip trembled and her eyes began to glass over with tears.
“Hey, hey look at me,” Bucky insisted. He took her face in his hands and met her gaze intently.
“First thing is: I love you more than anything on this earth. You are the single most important thing in my life.” he began. Y/N choked back a sob as Bucky pressed a kiss to her forehead.
“The second is…” he turned them to face the full length mirror sitting in the corner of Y/N’s room. Bucky’s arms wrapped around her waist and he rested his head on her shoulder. He could feel the smooth fabric of the dreaded dress in his flesh hand and the warmth of her skin underneath. How many times had he held her this way, reveling in the feel of her surrounding him? How many times had he traced patterns on her soft skin? He didn’t think he would ever tire of it.
“The second is that you are perfect no matter what you wear. You could be wearing the most haute couture outfit or my old t-shirt that mysteriously keeps finding its way into your laundry basket and you will still be the most beautiful, most radiant woman that I have ever had the honor of calling my partner.”
Y/N bit her lip to push back the tears as her arms came up to cover his around her waist. He could feel her melting into his embrace and he kissed her shoulder beside the loose strap of her dress.
“I know that there will be other days like this ahead, and while I wish that there won’t be, all I can do is promise to always tell you all the ways that you are so much more than the dress size you wear. You are sweet and kind and smart and hilarious. You never let Sam and Tony get away with the bullshit and you are fiercely loyal to the people you love. And I have never seen someone be able to reconnaissance a three floor HYDRA warehouse faster than you can. You are the glue that holds our team together, Y/N. You have saved our lives more times than I can count.
“And there are still days that I can’t believe you even glanced in my direction, let alone chose me to hold your heart. You saw through the darkness and destruction in my soul and you helped me let the light in. I will spend everyday making myself worthy of your love, but you never ever have to shrink yourself to a box to make others love you.”
Y/N turned in his arms and pulled him down to meet her lips in a searing kiss. Her arms wrapped around his neck to tangle in the hair at the base of his neck, and his hands traveled from her hips and around her back to pull her closer.
When they pulled away, lips swollen and breathless, he cupped her cheek and stroked his thumb across her face.
“If you don’t want to go to this gala, I will happily tell Tony to fuck off and we will do whatever you want to do,” he promised. Y/N sighed, looking away briefly.
“I want to go so badly, but the dress…”
“...has arrived!” came a voice from the doorway. They turned to see Nat and the stylist from before striding in with a garment bag slung over their shoulder. Bucky remembered suddenly that their name was Zo.
“What?” Y/N asked, confused. “What are you talking about? I’m currently wearing the dress and it does not fit.”
“You’re currently wearing that version of the dress,” Zo said, unzipping the garment bag to reveal an identical dress to the one Y/N was wearing. Y/N stared at it, dumbfounded.
“I was told this was one of a kind,” she murmured, reaching out to feel the fabric.
“Well as far as the stylists knew, it was. But I know this designer and she is working on expanding her plus size brand, so I had a hunch she had some sample sizes stashed somewhere. All it took was a quick phone call, a police escort thanks to Tony Stark, and now you have your dream dress that I will happily tailor to you. But I am not a miracle worker so say buh-bye to your hunky arm candy and let us work our magic! We only have three and a half hours to make you dazzling.”
“She already is,” Bucky interjected strongly. Zo rolled their eyes and motioned to Natasha, who grabbed Bucky and began hauling him out the door.
“Hang on a second!” he protested, pulling out of her grasp. He turned back to a bewildered Y/N and kissed her deeply.
“Could I at least help you out of this one?” he teased cheekily. Y/N laughed as Nat groaned in disgust and pulled him away.
“I swear to God I will kick your ass, Barnes,” Nat grumbled, “Now go get yourself pretty while we pamper your girl.”
She promptly launched him out of the room as a team of makeup artists and stylists filed in and slammed the door behind her. Bucky grinned and made his way back to his room to put on his tux and grab the surprise he’d been waiting to give Y/N.
Three and a half hours later, he was back waiting in front of Y/N’s door. His short, dark hair was styled back, and the cobalt blue pocket square tucked into his classic black tuxedo jacket matched the color of Y/N’s dress perfectly. His vibranium hand, encased in a black glove, fiddled with the box in his pocket and he tapped his shiny polished dress shoes nervously. Just as he was about to knock, the door flew open and Zo appeared, looking positively giddy.
“She is a masterpiece!” they declared, ushering him inside. When Bucky made it through the door, he froze at the sight of Y/N’s figure in front of the mirror.
The dress, now zipped and tailored perfectly to her body, seemed to shimmer in the light as it accentuated her curves before flowing from her waist, around her hips, and stopping at the middle of her calves. She wore two inch high, black block heels and her hair was styled down and loose around her face. Her makeup made her skin look luminescent and her eyes bright. When her gaze caught Bucky’s, she smiled widely and Bucky knew the storm had passed.
She was absolutely ethereal.
“What do you think, Y/N?” Zo asked, moving past Bucky’s prone form to pick imaginary lint off of the dress. Y/N smiled brilliantly at them and took their hand.
“It’s perfect. And I cannot thank you enough for everything, Zo. I feel…”
“Gorgeous,” Zo finished, squeezing her hand. Y/N nodded and Zo discreetly stepped aside as Bucky’s breath returned to him.
When he took a step towards her, Natasha’s hand flashed out to stop him. She had changed into her figure hugging black gown with a sweetheart neckline and long side slit and it made her look even more dangerously beautiful than she was in her widow suit.
“If you even think about messing up her makeup, I will take you down. Behave.” she murmured. Bucky rolled his eyes. He had been to enough events with Y/N that he knew to never kiss her directly on the lips or cheek when her makeup was that flawless.
Instead he approached her and took her hand in his, stooping down to plant a gentle kiss to her knuckles. He heard Zo and the other stylists swoon behind him, but he only had eyes for Y/N.
“Hey handsome. You clean up nice,” Y/N teased. Bucky stood up straight and pulled her closer.
“Ни на одном языке нет слов, чтобы описать, насколько ты прекрасна,” he whispered in her ear. Y/N shivered and he grinned. He knew how much she loved hearing him speak Russian.
“I love you, моя любовь” he murmured fiercely. Y/N smiled and smoothed her hands across his lapels.
“I love you too,” she murmured back. He chuckled and she cleared her throat, remembering their audience.
“Shall we?” she asked. She moved to step around him before he gently pulled her back.
“One second. I was waiting to give you this until tonight.” He handed her the box as Natasha herded the stylists out of the room. She glanced up at him in confusion before opening the top of the box. She gasped in surprise and delight.
“Oh Bucky,” she breathed. Bucky reached in and pulled the necklace out, letting it shimmer in the light.
“The sapphire is from an old brooch of my ma’s that Steve helped me track down. My dad saved for a year to buy it for her and she wore it to church every Sunday. And I had it set with a couple of the diamonds from your mom’s ring.” Y/N reached out and held the pendant of the necklace in her hands.
The sapphire was set in the center with two oval diamonds on either side. They touched at the bottom before fanning out away from the sapphire.
“I remember that brooch from a picture you showed me. Bucky, this is the most amazing gift you could have ever given me! Thank you, my love,” she said, reaching up to kiss him. She turned and let him place the necklace around her neck and fasten it before he pressed another kiss to the clasp at the nape of her neck. She turned back to him and wrapped her arms around him.
“Thank you,” she murmured. Bucky smiled.
“For what? The necklace?” he asked, brushing her hair back from her face.
“Well that, of course. And for loving me when it’s really hard to love myself.”
“I meant what I said,” he insisted. “I will tell you everyday how much I love you and how perfect you are to me. If you can’t believe it for yourself, I’ll believe it for both of us.”
“Back atcha, baby.”
With one last quick peck, she turned and took his hand to lead him into the hallway. They made their way through the hallways until they reached the main elevator.
“Wait…weren’t there two sapphires on that brooch? What are you going to do with the other?” Y/N asked as they entered the elevator. Bucky grinned.
“I have something special planned for that one,” he said slyly, pressing a quick kiss to her left hand ring finger.

dream devil girl!au | natasha romanoff
Tumblr media
summary: reader and natasha are natural born enemies it feels like at this point. defying the odds of a collegiate level jock and cheerleader having something in common. yet all the constant bickering leaves you both frustrated. always for more than you can chew off. sequel to 🌫️
cw: bullying (sorta), one (1) slap, degradation, pet play-ish, name calling, 18+
a/n: i didn’t include any pronouns for reader but i am afab! so that’s the pov i’m on <3 i used mostly non-gendered type nicknames. also sought guidance doing final pieces on this fic layout from my gf’s @pocolottie fic layouts <33
⛓𓌹*♰*𓌺⛓
you’re storming off somewhere upstairs in the sorority’s huge mansion. you’d only agreed to come to this stupid speed dating event because your entire friend group wanted to be supportive of kate. she was stepping out of her comfort zone. friendship solidarity or whatever.
you didn’t mind that a few sorority girls spent most of their times trying to flirt and get your number. it was flattering, certainly a welcomed ego boost. what you did mind was a certain aggravating voice the entire evening making snide remarks your way. scoffing and rolling her green eyes every time another girl floated your way.
natasha, annoyed with the constant attention you were receiving, made up some lie to all of the girls. she told them some bullshit story of you breaking some freshman’s heart and sleeping with her fucking roommate! one of the sorority girls even threw her champagne in your face.
all you heard was natasha’s snickering and a group gasping, before you pushed through the crowd to escape. now you’re in some guest bathroom upstairs washing the sticky residue off your face. you’re mumbling underneath your breath the entire time. calling natasha heinous and foul names you’d never repeat to anyone else. swearing every couple words because you’re so fucking pissed off.
once your face is dried, you swing open the bathroom to see natasha standing in front of the door with her arms crossed. she looks angry. the audacity for natasha to feel any negative emotion in this situation. you don’t even bother acknowledging natasha or even uttering a word. instead, you attempt to brush pass natasha, but the girl forcefully pushes your shoulder back.
“get back inside the bathroom.”
you blink your shock at natasha’s firm statement. she seems extremely serious about it too. her tone harsh and demanding.
“you’re out of your fucking mind. get out of my way.”
“or what? you’re gonna cry and run away? you already did that and it was pathetic. just like you.” natasha basically spits out her words at you, resentment laced with each one.
you roll your eyes. that is one of natasha’s favorite words to use for you. pathetic. she really sees you as some second class citizen. someone below her. you’re the lowly, dumb jock and natasha’s the pretty, smart, and talented cheerleader everyone loved. except for you. natasha always fucking had an attitude around you. always scoffing, rolling her eyes and even sneering your way. one day you had to ask wanda if you smelled bad from soccer practice.
you stare down at natasha. the girl is a lot of bark for someone whose a few inches shorter too. an evil smirk spreads on natasha’s lips. as if natasha read your mind.
“i will scream bloody murder and humiliate you even further. get back in there. now.” natasha basically barks her order at you and something inside of you snaps and lulls you back into the bathroom.
natasha’s smirk returns once more as you follow orders. she mirrors your footsteps, crossing the threshold of the bathroom. natasha immediately locks the door.
“see? old dogs can learn new tricks. good puppy.”
you open your mouth to protest, only getting out, “na-“ before natasha’s palm makes contact with your skin, a sharp sting remaining.
“you don’t speak until i tell you to. not after what i heard you say about me in here. you’ll listen like the mutt you are, okay? nod if you understand.”
you grind your teeth down, holding the pained cheeked, desperately wanting to snap back at natasha. but whatever that lulled you into the bathroom—it also kept you quiet and obedient. so, you nod your head while glaring at natasha.
natasha beams almost triumphantly with smile that looked sincere. natasha leans forward and pats your head.
“good dog! you’re too dumb anyway. i should punish you even more honestly. that slap was nothing. you’ve earned a hundred by now. but…mommy can start us off on a clean slate.”
you cock your head to the side, wondering what the hell natasha is ranting about. failing to understand what’s shifting between you two.
“don’t worry too much about it, mutt. i’m not here to use your brain. i’m afraid that’s long gone. remember that party two months ago when we fought the entire way there and then they locked us in the van…” natasha trailed off, as she looked over at you sitting on the closed toilet bowl.
heat rushes into your face at the sudden trip down memory lane. of course you’d remembered it. you convinced yourself for the next two months that it wasn’t the best sex you’d ever have. you even fought harder to convince yourself you didn’t enjoy natasha taking full control. i nod my head at natasha question. natasha rolls her eyes.
“yeah, of course you do. you were a pathetic whining bitch in heat. anyway, it had me thinking and wondering, why you decided to fuck half the female body population in that time? every fucking practice all i can from the girls’ mouths is y/n this and y/n that. as if you weren’t begging me to fuck you that night. clawing at my back, so desperate to be fucked and used. have you even let anyone touch you like that since then?”
you swallow thickly, squeezing your legs at the aching feeling natasha’s words left in your cunt. she mastered the language of dirty talk. her raspy, low pitched voice adding a delicious twist to them.
natasha commands, “speak, mutt. i asked you a question.”
“no. no, i haven’t let anyone touch me like that since.”
“mhm…when was the last time?”
“the last time what?”
“you’re so fucking painfully obtuse. the last time someone touched your greedy pussy.” natasha plainly said, as if the conversation were boring her.
you chew your lip nervously, knowing natasha will easily catch you in your web of lies. or completely humiliate and mock you with the truth. you close your eyes shut, dropping your head.
“it’s been a while…like maybe two years…”
natasha’s face immediately upturns into the most wicked grin she’s ever produced. your answer fills her with a sense of pride and accomplishment. what a beautiful, beautiful addition to natasha’s ego this was. natasha knows the game is afoot. she’s already made you her bitch. there’s nothing else to be done or said.
all you hear is the click of the bathroom lock, cueing natasha’s exit.

Something about the fact that the Loki writers have confirmed multiple times that his variants all look so different because of their inherit chaotic nature.
Something about the fact that it says in the show that the universe wants to be free so it manifests chaos in the form of Lokis.
Something about the fact that Loki is the TVA’s most common variant because every version of them refuses to adhere to their ‘destiny’.
Something about the fact that there was a scene in the show where Ravonna said “this is about order & chaos. I’m order-“ and then a loki variant violently burst in, implying “I’m chaos.”
Something about the fact that the entire story arc of the Loki series was about him choosing to free the sacred timeline & embrace all the anarchy & endless possibilities- positive & negative- that came with it instead of continuing to enforce the absolute order that would keep them all safe.
Something about Loki literally sacrificing himself so chaos could reign.
Something about the fact that Loki tried for years to beat He Who Remains through playing by his rules, and was only able to do it when he came up with a solution so insane that HWR didn’t anticipate it.
Something about the fact that messing with people’s minds & using tricky and unorthodox means of fighting has always been Loki’s Thing.
Something about the fact that at least one loki variant has the natural ability to rewrite the laws of time, space, and reality.
Something about the fact that Loki is literally the god of chaos- in the series, in the comics, and in Norse mythology.
And also..
Something about the fact that all of Wanda’s variants look and act exactly the same.
Something about the fact that the TVA never mentioned Wanda whatsoever despite her being a Reality Breaking Cosmic Anomaly.
Something about the fact that Wanda fans thought her reading the Darkhold caused the multiverse to open but Kevin Feige confirmed it was Sylvie killing He Who Remains that opened the multiverse, and in turn allowed Wanda to hear her kids through the Darkhold.
Something about the fact that Wanda almost always uses her ‘chaos magic’ to control people/events & bend reality to her will, which directly contradicts the meaning of chaos.
Something about the fact that Wanda has never once had any sort of symbolic arc or subplot or character dive directly linking her to chaos as a concept.
Something about the fact that the only thing about Wanda you could consider overtly chaotic is her propensity to go on destructive rampages when she doesn’t get her way.
And finally..
Something about the fact that, in the mcu, Wanda is constantly awarded with the chaos moniker- they decided to keep the ‘chaos magic’ name from the comics, fans call her the queen of chaos, and she gets credited as the token reality breaker pretty much constantly… while they’ve never even acknowledged on-screen that Loki’s the literal God of Chaos.
