Most animators do not have unions. -- thats why everything is CGI. Even the dogs in Cruella were not real 90% of the time. Its cheaper to have the VFX crews work to death than hire an animal trainer and on set handlers and everything. I think there is ONE union across animation and VFX fields. They've been in talks to get a bigger union for months, arguing with studios, so here's hoping!

i think we're talking about two different fields — because vfx artists definitely aren't unionized, but there is an animation guild under IATSE for animators. vfx artists don't technically do animation.

Me at parents- so what if your child has an attitude- so fucking what - you are rude to them all the fucking time and you have bad days and you get angry or annoyed why is your child not allowed the same courtesy

I always HATED that as a kid. Yelling at me for having an attitude, shockingly, only served to either make me more upset or make me fucking cry

Going off of my previous Sonic Prime post, @biolizardboils and @brianadoesart have informed me that the reason that Deven Mack has been chosen to voice Sonic in that show is because it's Canadian-produced and they have some sort of weird Canadian voice actor laws, which I know pretty much nothing about, yet which I find ironic because I think Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was produced in Canada and yet Jaleel White was still chosen to voice the Blue Blur in that show.

That aside, since you two were so kind to share that knowledge with me, I'm going to share this little tidbit with you: because of the Broadcasting Act of Canada, Canadian TV and radio stations are required to broadcast a certain percentage of content that was at least partially written, produced, presented or otherwise contributed to by Canadians. For music, this means that records and CDs (probably cassettes as well) must display a four-sectioned circle logo with the letters "MAPL", the letters meaning the following:

M: The music was entirely composed by a Canadian

A: The music and/or lyrics were primarily performed by a Canadian artist

P: The musical performance was either 1. Recorded entirely in Canada, or 2. Performed and broadcast entirely in Canada

L: The lyrics were written entirely by a Canadian

I'm not sure if this is in any way connected to those Canadian voice actor laws, but yeah.

📖 fave book

the hunger games trilogy by suzanne collins; those books had a lot of impact on my young adult mind, and their handling of a lot of themes remains unparalleled, in my opinion. the handmaid's tale by margaret atwood also had a big impact on me. also in the running here are fahrenheit 451 by ray bradbury, 2001: a space odyssey by arthur c. clarke, do androids dream of electric sheep? by philip k dick, and the hitchhiker's "trilogy" by douglas adams.

as far as, like, classics go: the iliad, the odyssey, mary shelley's frankenstein, the count of monte cristo, the great gatsby
