i actually don’t think that bakugou and midoriya share a villain, because they aren’t really fighting the same person, what they do is fight the same body, but there are two people inside of it.

bakugou is fighting afo, he wants to defeat afo and thus save everyone, while midoriya is fighting shigaraki, because he wants to save the little boy inside him.

like, that’s their whole character win to save and save to win.

I’m very normal about dekubaku. In fact, i don’t think there is anything going on between them at all. I literally created both a Twitter account and a tumblr account just so I can get my bkdk fix. *cough cough* as if my handle didn’t give it away. Now idk if anyone will read this but I just need somewhere to quite literally dump my thoughts bc I have been nonstop chatting my partner’s ear off and I know he’s hella fucking over it. He’s just too nice to tell me to stfu and I don’t have any friends who are into anime/manga. I never intended to write something myself but I just need to put my thoughts out there. Don’t expect anything analytical from me because that ain’t who I am. I just made the accounts to be a spectator and selfishly consume all of your talents out there who feed my longing for bkdk content.

A quick (yet not so quick) backstory - I got introduced to MHA on a whim. It all started back in October of last year (2022) when my partner decided to start watching the anime. He’s an avid manga reader but had never watched the MHA anime. He played it on tv while I went about my own interests and hobbies. But one day the plot caught my attention and I vaguely remember it was during the sports festival arch and I was hooked ever since. He also only watches sub so I found myself more hooked on it since I couldn’t just listen to what was going on. I had to watch so I could read the subs. Something that suddenly was just his became our thing and shortly after that very much became my thing. I needed to keep binge watching just to see what would happen. As he warned me that at the rate we were going at we’d be caught up I panicked and was like how will I get my fix?! To buying the manga we go! I bought both the physical volumes to prepare myself ahead of time. Christmas rolled around and having just gone on vacation where 90% of the people at our resort were reading (including my partner on his kindle) I felt left out for not taking a book. As a Xmas present he bought me a kindle and loaded it up with all of the MHA volumes.

It wasn’t until January 6th that I picked up the manga (since we were all caught up and waiting for real time episodes of the anime to release). Work was slow and I found myself bored at my desk so I decided eh why not kill that boredom and read. I started from the very beginning as I missed out on details having strapped myself along for the ride in the anime a few episodes in and being told that the anime doesn’t always cover every detail of the manga. It took me 20 days (less actually bc I took a week or so break to restart the anime to watch those details I had missed out on) to read the entire manga and catch up to real time chapter releases.

I was going through a big depressive episode a couple weeks back and nothing brought me as much joy and comfort as MHA did. So I blasted through the manga. I caught myself just wanting to readddddd to catch up to the action and what was currently going on as I had run into a couple of spoilers courtesy of the IG algorithm that caught onto my newly found obsession with MHA.

However, after catching up on reading I realized I both knew what happened but I also felt like I didn’t? Like I just read so much and had to process it all that I was like I need to go back and read and take the time to actually digest it. It was at this time that I was just also kinda over the whole pitting Ochako and Deku as romantic interests plot. When I watched the anime (and read the manga the first time) I thought they were cute. So awkward, clearly just HS kids learning how to be around those of the opposite gender and developing crushes. So naive. Really took me to thinking of those HS days where you crush on someone. The anime in particular does a good job at selling this to you and so did the early stages of the manga (something I noticed after I started my second reading).

However, as I re-read and re-watched I couldn’t quite put my finger on why it bothered me so much. Suddenly, something that was supposedly laid out to be obvious didn’t feel so obvious and the lack of development from that romantic plot sizzled and was very much one sided and felt forced and out of place.

It was a random post that came across my IG feed (again, hello algorithm) about bkdk. At first I was like it’s cute, but I don’t see it. But as I kept going through my second reading I was like wait, no. I can see it. I would come across all of these cutesy fan art accounts and posts of the two and idk why but it gave me butterflies?! At this point it was just that, running into and seeking out fan art of the two as a couple. But then I started thinking, ok the fan art is cute but is there more out there other than fan art? Not sure what I was really after I googled something really simple like “are bakugo and Deku really in love” and low and behold I ran into tumblr accounts that actually analyzed the manga and connected the dots for me.

I’ve never thought of myself to be a strong reader. I mean, yes I’m a strong reader in the sense that I don’t stumble on words when reading out loud and can get through books. BUT what I mean is I was never one of those students who did well in English class and especially when we had to annotate and analyze books and writing samples. I could never really dig into the text and see the obvious themes and subtext that everyone else, including the teacher, did.

So having ran into these tumblr accounts posting their analysis of the series I just felt a moment of eureka! Like I’m not crazy. People see this in the same way I do but just more factually and analytically. And this isn’t a ship because it’s cutesy. There’s so many intricate and complicated yet delicated layers to their relationship which is why it makes it so much more believable.

Anyways, here I am writing this because I have been suffering from bkdk brain rot for the past like week and it’s only getting worse. I feel like Cady from Mean Girls - where I spend most of my time talking to my partner about bkdk and MHA. And when someone else (him included) is talking I wish they’d bring it up full on knowing they won’t because they don’t care it or aren’t into anime/manga/MHA.

Thank you to all of those accounts that have given my substance and have kept my bkdk obsession fed. I don’t know much about the manga world or Shonen (as I’m a noob) so idk if Horikoshi will go through with it but I’m rooting for bkdk. As a straight female I am soooo over your classic boy meets girl and they fall in love storyline. I’m also the girl falls in love and suddenly is sidelined as just their partner and their potential as a character gets deduced to just that. If this truly gets revealed to be a love story between Izuku and Kacchan I will literally never shut about out it. I will scream, cry, throw up out of happiness. If it doesn’t happen I will quite literally become feral and scream into the void for who knows how long. I’ll even take Hori not making Izuku and Ochaco canon. Not hate against those who want that and like it, everyone is entitled to their opinions. But I just cannot see it and don’t want it to be established.

Reason being is that this specific person has a large audience and I felt that I’d outta warn you in case you decide to wanna interact with the MHA audience on Twitter, cause chances are you’ll encounter them. I’ve bought them up before, so the name Dekacchan might ring a bell. I had this old post saved in the drafts cause I wasn’t sure that I really wanted to actually post it, but this woman has some serious issues. This doesn’t mean you get to go to her Twitter and harass her, cause I don’t condone that shit, but let this post serve as a general outline for who Dekacchan is.

Bro, even the BkDks are shitting on Dekkachan 😂. This lady comes around championing the Japanese fandom of “being the most understanding of BkDk and it being canon”, but when confronted by a famous Japanese fujoshi who has more knowledge on the subject than she does, she continues to spit out these conspiracy theories 😭. Lady, give it a rest already.

As far as I can tell, this is her life:

-Be Dekkachan.

-Be 27 years old.

-Have a partner and a job where she teaches kids.

-Think of BkDk 24/7

-Partner and job are second to BkDk.

-Argue with children over which set of scribbles gets with which set of scribbles.

-Bully said children for not liking BkDk.

-Ignore that Izuku and Katsuki, the focus of the obsession, are minors.

-Retweet BkDk fan-art that is suggestive such as m!preg and acts of sex. Again, they are minors.

-Have friends who are proshippers and post NSFW pics of minors while being the same age as her.

-Fail to cringe at being terminally online and being more than obsessed with a fictional ship about two kids.

-Claim to be an intellectual but can’t even see that her ship isn’t canon DESPITE how obvious it is that the canon ship is IzuOcha. Even IzuOcha haters, fellow BkDks, and shippers of all kinds recognize this basic fact.

-Manipulate and cultivate an audience made up of presumably mainly teenagers to silence anyone who disagrees, no matter how logical their arguments are or no matter how respectful they are.

-Will actively seek out other people’s posts about their thoughts on MHA, and proceed to expose them to the hive-mind even if they posted away from the BkDk spaces.

-Alienate the majority of the BkDk community who is disgusted by such behavior, some even losing their love for something they were passionate of. Proceed to target and harass such “traitors”.

-Whole identity revolves around being a conspiracy theorist, a bully, a toxic shipper, and one of the biggest hypocrites on earth. Wears this as a badge of honor.

-Play victim whenever confronted and say “if you don’t like me, then block” despite the one initiating conflict.

Honestly a really sad life. Like yeah, I have this blog and whatnot, but I don’t go around harassing people who disagree with me, I’m not terminally online (only being online when I’ve got nothing better to do), and I can tell the difference between canon and my imagination. Dekkachan is something else and I’m honestly worried about how she’s going to react once IzuOcha actually becomes canon. Even other BkDk fans hate her 💀.

I think there are two reasons toga has never had Izuku’s blood, no matter how much she wanted it: if she were to use ofa it might not work (similar to monoma’s quirk) and two, she doesn’t like Midoriya Izuku.

Now, let’s talk about what exactly separates togas attraction to uraraka and her attraction to Izuku. When toga meets Uraraka she finds her “cute” and how she wants to be involved with them. And right off the bat she can just tell that ochako is similar to her. She acts like those she loves. Toga, of course, wishes to relate to that and be friends with her during this point. But I almost feel like the more we see her use Ochakos blood, indirectly interacting with ochako (seeing as she has a deeper connection to people THROUGH blood) the more she grows to like her. It’s a much more normal view of attraction. Dekacchan (someone here on tumblr) made a whole post about horikoshi’s view on love and it’s worth reading.

But toga falls in love with her, over time. And when she’s rejected by her she starts crying and runs away after her confession, THAT OCHAKO DIDNT EVEN KNOW WAS A CONFESSION! She has this moment where it all *clicks* in her head in 348 bc toga says the line, “what do you wanna do to me hero?”

But this is absolutely NOT the same experience she has with Izuku. At all, ever. From start to finish it feels, forced? Lets start with when she first MEETS Izuku. She, off the bat, has an attraction to him. She LIKES seeing HIM specifically all beat up and bloody because, once again, she has a certain connection to people through blood. Not only that, but it’s also because he looks like a boy that she may have genuinely liked in her past that she killed. That’s it though. Because, this is the thing, toga himiko has no clue who midoriya Izuku actually is. And love requires time, work, energy to both have and then give to another person. And she HAD that time, work, and energy with ochako. But never with Izuku. She acted as ochako/kamie that one time during their hero licenses, but that was it. That was the closest she EVER got to knowing who he was and what he stood for. And strategy Izuku is not normal Izuku. She has no clue who he likes, how he likes them, how he understands people and the world, or his impact on other people. But she knows that for ochako.

And this is the thing. Toga never had Izuku’s blood because if she did, it would blatantly expose the fact that she does not in fact actually have feelings for him. And by extension, ochako would not have feelings for him. Why? BECAUSE THE ENTIRE BASIS OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS THEIR “SHARED ATTRACTION” TO HIM! And if toga does not have feelings for him, then that means that she doesn’t either. They are parallels. And this point is still shown in more subtle ways.

Because this is a lesson horikoshi wants to teach you. Love at first sight does not exist. Love does not just simply appear because the people around you ASSIGNED a word for a feeling you were having. It takes work. Genuine work. Love is complicated, it’s not a simple little crush that they both share and then get together at the end, love takes time. It takes moments, shared experiences, shared issues. All of it. Special moments. All of these things toga and ochako have, and same with Izuku and Katsuki, but not for Izuku and ochako. They have few and far between moments. Little things that never go that far.

And I can’t say this enough, but mha shows that love wins. Queer people can win. We can hope and we will. We can be confident. We have the evidence. All of the pieces were put together for us. All we have to do is put them together.

We can make what used to be dreams of the past come to reality as queer people in shonen communities. Because I’m done with this shit. I’m done with being treated like genuine trash in shonen fandoms because of what? Shipping two same sex characters? We are apart of fandom too. And by having this big of a show come to a reality where bkdk or tgck may be canon is just absolutely beautiful and amazing.

As a bkdk shipper, I don't agree with several things Dekacchan says but the way she gets treated on Twitter is actually pretty disgusting. People bring her personal life and shit on her space Right now, there are people who think that she should her delusional mentality f**ked out of her. All this just because she likes a fictional ship and thinks that they'll be canon??? Canon or not, bkdk or izuocha, no one should have their personal life dragged in here just because they don't agree with her.

I dont know right now what is happening on twitter with dekakchan and normally I would agree with you, the problem with dekakchan is that she had it comming at this point so I dont feel any sympathy. She openly harassed and bullied so many people in the past (even other bkdk shippers and children) that people may simply have enough now and attack her back. I dont think its okay to threaten her or pull her personal life into this, but she had it comming. Karma is a bitch.

hot take: media ruined some of your’s perception of bakugou

i know it’s a bit far fetched and requires a bit of explaining but the reason so many of you treat bakugou like shit is because media ruined your perception of teenagers.

now let me explain it. with teenagers being portrayed by actors in their 30s and writers projecting their weird fantasies unto underage people (i’m looking at you sam levinson) people now can’t tell apart what’s normal behaviour for children in media and what is just bad writing.

and the thing is, bakugou’s behaviour is normal for teenagers. he’s abrasive, doesn’t know when to shut up, can’t really express his care for others and a whole bunch of other things, but for god’s sake he’s only 17. he barely lived, he doesn’t know any better. especially in a society that has been encouraging him for his whole life. and he’s trying to change. he sees his weaknesses, he’s trying to be a better person. he’s apologised and he’s been doing so much to be a better version of himself. (some of you just can’t see it because hori didn’t erase his whole personality just to fit some standards).

and yeah, i do believe that some of you were almost brainwashed by media, that thrives on violence and disturbing things, and believe that the only way out for him is to be brutally punished (which by the way he was a few too many times) or just never be forgiven (which is plain stupidity). but i remind you that in real life this would be just a child, that made a mistake, and tries to make amends with the person he hurt.

and if you think that children in real life deserve the same treatment, that you project unto bakugou, then you’re sick people, and i don’t have anything to say to you, except don’t go near children ever.

and by the way. please, learn to fucking read. midoriya is a victim, yeah, but these days are all behind him. he’s capable of protecting himself (was before and even more now), he can decide for himself whether he wants to forgive someone or not. he’s a good person, that wants the world to become a better place. izuku wants everyone to live happily with smiles on their faces. so of course he’d forgive katsuki, because that’s what heroes do.

and if you still do not agree with me just read batman comics, that’ll satisfy your weird desires for someone beating shit out of other people. just saying.
