She had so much admiration for you. In her eyes, you were a beautiful ray of sunshine, so easygoing to talk with, and most of all: you were all she dreamed about.

She first met you during first year at UA. Besides Ururaka and Iida, you were one of her first classmates that actually went up and talked to her during lunchtime and praised her for how cool she looked during the sports festival.

Meanwhile Ikumi was trying her best to stay cool and compose and hopefully not have you realize that you were talking to a weirdo like her.

It didn’t help that she held a lot of insecurities. Mostly being bullied by Bakugou and his goons almost her whole life up to this point.

But you didn’t see that in her. And for once it felt nice being praised by someone that wasn’t her mom.

Your compliments and praise felt genuine. No empty words. No backhanded comments. Just a cute girl telling her how amazing her powers are.

She swore, that was the most happiest she’s ever been.

Skip to her third year in UA and her love for you has not slipped away in the slightest.

If anything it’s become even more difficult not to blush all shades of red around you.

Both of you were basically close to adult age and Ikumi found herself having not so innocent day dreams starring you and her.

Just from body language alone, almost everyone at UA knew that Ikumi had a crush on you. Besides you, all of Class 1-A teased or egged her on about confessing already!

Even her mom wasn’t an exception. “Oh hon, I already know you like girls. I’m not blind.” Ikumi could only freeze from hearing that.

She almost had a heart attack when her mom suggested she should invite her cute crush to dinner.

Ikumi’s biggest fear was that you weren’t into girls like she was. She heard how a lot guys in school casually say that they thought you were pretty or thought of asking you out.

Yeah there’s no way you’d ever go out with her. And she quickly made peace with that.

That is until Ururaka scheduled a girls night out last minute and pulled Ikumi along.

Ikumi reluctantly went, maybe she needed a day to have fun and forget about hero work, and hanging out with her close girl friends was a plus too.

Tsu picked a cute hello kitty cafe as there first destination. Ikumi felt like this is what she needed.

“Oh I invited (y/n) to come along with!” Momo sheepishly giggled. “Unfortunately Kendo was busy with her agency.” Momo frowned apologetically.

By the time the drinks that were ordered came, you made an appearance at the cafe. The green head girl almost coughed out her sweet drink the minute she made eye contact with her.

You were dressed top to bottom with a cute pink outfit. A simple button up pink slim shirt with short pink jean skirt that hugged your thighs nicely, added cute thigh high socks with some simple high top shoes.

Ikumi loved and fell in love with you all over again.

All the girls sang praises seeing your outfit, Ikumi included.

You noticed that everyone already ordered their drinks, sheepishly apologizing for being late.

The girls didn’t even bother with it. They were just happy you came along and accepted their invite on short notice.

Ururaka teased and suggested you sit next to the blushing broccoli head gal.

Ikumi could only short circuit and have her mouth dry up, barely mustering any words out.

So close. Once you sat next to her, she could smell your sweet perfume, closing her legs tightly to make sure her thighs weren’t touching yours. It was not easy considering how tiny those cafe tables were.

You, however, loved how cute she was. You could hug her from the side and she’d probably turn her rosy cheeks into full tomato red.

After having some drinks together, the girls were afraid of missing their curfew, so they called it a night.

The group walked back to their campus altogether. Tsuyu, Mina, Ururaka, and Momo were walking in front, talking amongst themselves. Meanwhile you and Ikumi were behind, silently walking close together.

Ikumi was never good a small talk, it didn’t help that the whole walk back from the cafe was silent.

“I think tonight was a really fun, don’t you?” You perked up.

Ikumi’s eyes lock, seeing your cute smile as you lighten up the mood.

“Yeah, it was!” Ikumi replied back with a faint smile

“You know, if I’m being honest,” you began “I actually don’t mind doing this again.” Ikumi couldn’t agree more with that. She’d loved to hang out with you more!

“Yeah of course!” Ikumi nodded “I’ll be sure to let Momo and Ururaka know too.”

“Maybe we can all plan out something like this again.” The green haired girl muttered after. (Y/n) quickly found herself giggling afterwards

“What’s so funny? Did I say something?” Ikumi, bless her heart, was confused.

For the first time it was (y/n) that seemed more shy. Her smile never faded, but her body language made her sheepishly pull her hair back behind her ear.

(Y/n) fully admitted. “I actually want to do the same thing still, just not with them..” She gestured the girls in front.

“But maybe just me and you.”

Ikumi’s eyes widened, her heart skipped a beat. Those words that her long time crush said repeated in her mind over and over.

Ikumi throat felt dryer at that moment.

“Like a date…?” Ikumi murmured

(Y/n) cute laugh returned once more. “Yeah sure!”

(Y/n) held Ikumi’s hand playfully. “It’s a date then!”

Ikumi.exe stopped working.

My idea of What would happen if Izuku was a Girl.

(though there's gonna be a li'l bit of side-sauce to keep it close to canon, little disclaimer here for that)

People say Katsuki's going to be a great Hero for standing up for Izu, because "she's a little Quirkless angel! She does so well in her classes and looks so adorable!"

But on top of that she's going to get put on the side at pe, the bullies are still going to be assholes, but you're also going to get shady shit about people saying she's got crushes on random guys just for looking at them, or say "she acts innocent but she's a whore".

Not to mention ALL MIGHT. THE BLATANT SEXISM!

Though Izu still gets ofa because All Might is really reminded of Nana because Izu gets her hair straightened once a month by the same people who style her mother's hair and if Inko looks like Nana but Pudgy Angel? Izuku's the spitting image of her.

(This both helps and hinders... We'll get there in a sec, don't you worry.)

So Katsuki is actually more respectful and, tbh, a little scared of Izuku in this AU: his mother and his "Auntie Inko" are Undeniably Queens so he's like "I don't fully believe you'll be able to be a Hero but you're my sis so I'll kinda support you, but also I've seen you get angry, so I probably believe a bit [a lot] more."

Izuku's a girl, who's had to handle bullies, she freezes at the gate, but as soon as she's going in? She's In GO GO GO MODE!

(though then she breaks her arm and leg with ofa and Katsuki's the one with the immediate answer of "it's be from all that training you were doing after school leading up to the exam! Of course I noticed, Dekizu, you're my sister!" Before walking her home, as Ochako's still wanting to offer some of her points because she'd heard that Izu thinks she hasn't got any points.)

You think Inko doesn't know what's happening with her baby? Hah! Izu and Inko have That Bond, so Inko helps Izu tell Katsuki, because they both know All Might, for all of his intelligence and focus, can miss The Most Obvious Stuff.

So, UA. Tenya apologises, they still become friends, but he's also a bit more chivalrous towards her and, well...

M*neta is kicked by at least Lunchtime because he's So Clearly trying to eye up Izu's skirt because she's sat in front of him

If not, Katsuki goes Big Bro Mode when he hears M*neta intentionally dropping his stationary just to peer up skirts. This is Bakugo Family Sibling Mode, the only reason he lets M*neta go is Izuku saying a very clear, very soft "Katsuki, let him go, the teachers can handle it."

Aizawa Does Handle It: With Expulsion and A Record.

(I sleep so well at night knowing M*neta will Get No Ladies, at all.)

AND HERE'S WHERE THAT "LOOKS LIKE NANA" STUFF CAUSES STUFF.

Because Tomura! Sees Izuku! And both immediately proclaims her a pos, but also is like "Of course she had Another Family, if I kidnap you, I could wreak that family."

Thank God Kurogiri's there to go "Hon, we've got no time for that" and yeets him outta there.

This Becomes A Theme.

Sports Fest goes similarly, but Tenya's so flustered facing Ochako, Izu, Mei and Fumikage as Fumikage is like "guys, I'm gay, this is not the start of a harem", like that one picture of the dude on the cheerleading team surrounded by the cheerleaders.

Also No Grapist, No Cheerleading.

(srsly Denki is friends with a Slightly-Sis-Con Katsuki, anyone who thinks he'd try getting someone to help pull that? Even if he was supposedly as bad as M*neta, KATSUKI.)

(srsly, even if I'm not 100% fond of Canon!Katsuki, not only is Fandom!Katsuki usually better, All Katsuki Versions CHUG that Respect Women Juice.)

Also Tenya has a crush.

Anything else I can think of?

...sports, internships... Stain definitely has some kind of Lady Respect Juice...

Torino's also like "Nana?" But calls Izu "Young Lady?" When they meet.

Also Katsuki Clearly looks to/at Izu when thinking about anything, so the League's like "two birds one stone"... Yeah.

Also AFO wants to meet Izu and I'd Adore some Darth Vader "Ur my kid" stuff but Press X To Doubt.

Regardless, AFO is caught and All Might Retires.

(ToshInko??? Nah. Well? Maybe? Depends how much Toshi saw Nana as a mum.)

Anyway: stuff's basically pretty much the same, but for the low-key sexism and the fact End-a-W* probably would be pushing Shouto towards Izu which means those two end up with more of a sibling bond, like Katsuki and Izuku, because That Guy Really POURS HIS JUICE DOWN THE DRAIN!

Nah. I'm an All-Izu's-Age×Izu shipper usually, so idk what pairings we'd really end up with, LOL.)

She smiled at him, and for a second Katsuki stopped breathing.

Deku was smiling at him, a beautiful and bright smile as always.

Thanks for coming, Kacchan. That’s what he got from that smile.

Yeah, fuck the what ifs. As long as Izuku could smile like that, any outcome was fine.

He really wasn’t one for smiles, he was more of a smirk person, but there was no way that he couldn't smile back at that moment.

Be happy, Deku.

He hoped that the message in the form of a smile had reached her.

She was beautiful.

Truly beautiful.

The long white dress made her look ethereal.

Her long curly green locks were tied in a bun.

Green eyes, those kind viridescent eyes were shining in a way he never saw before as she kept looking ahead of her.

Freckled cheeks were tainted pink.

And the smile, a smile full of love never faltered.

But those weren’t his. All the love that was emanating from Midoriya Izuku wasn't his.

“Izuku.” Soft. Todoroki’s voice was soft, the tone of voice that he only used to call the green haired woman’s name. Mismatched eyes were staring at her as if she was the sun, admiring every detail and burning them in his mind and heart.

Todoroki extended his hand.

“Shouchan.” Loving. Izuku’s voice was dripping with happiness as she said the man’s nickname, a name that only she was allowed to use, because it was special for them.

"Be happy you two." All Might, the retired hero and Izuku's mentor, was the one walking her down the aisle, just like a father, and sending her away to Todoroki.

Midoriya smaller hand grabbed Todoroki’s.

They smiled at each other, as the half red and half white haired man helped Izuku climb the last steps to be beside him.

Deku’s smile was really bright.

Katsuki couldn't help but wonder from the chair where he was sitting…what if…

…

Back in their second year in U.A, just a few weeks after the war ended, when only he and Deku were lying in that private hospital room…a simple sentence could have changed everything.

“Kacchan, I love you.” Deku confessed that day.

He remembers his heart, the one that Edgeshot patched using his own life, going crazy. His heartbeat had skyrocketed and mind went blank with only three fucking words.

They were quiet for a second, green eyes staring at red ones, waiting patiently for a reaction and maybe an answer.

“I… ”

Maybe he panicked, or maybe he just wasn’t ready to confront his own feelings, but anyway, he said it, and never corrected them.

“...don’t love you.”

He said it so low that he wasn’t sure if the girl heard him, but when a forced smile, one that never suited Deku, appeared on her lip, and a stray tear rolled down her face, Katsuki knew that his answer was heard loud and clear just as if he shouted it.

She laughed, like she was embarrassed, one hand playing with the ends of her hair.

“T-thank you for your sincerity, Kacchan.”

He wasn’t sincere at all.

“I…I just wanted to…say it out loud and make sure that I…” She paused, trying to find the right words to express herself. “...when I saw you…down during the war I thought it was the end, that I would never be able to say these words. So…since I got another chance, I decided to live without regrets, it doesn’t matter if it hurts or not, I just wanted to tell you.”

He was a coward, and would live regretting.

“I hope that…we can still be…friends, Kacchan.”

“Yeah…sure.”

…

Now that he thinks about those days, now that he is older and wiser, Katsuki thinks that it wasn’t panic or confused feelings. His idiotic 17 year old self was still too prideful and stupid to admit that he had feelings for his childhood friend, turned bully victim, turned rival, turned friend again.

For his prideful and stupid 17 year old self, loving someone, loving Deku was unacceptable, because…when he got so weak to fall for…Deku?

Yeah, he was really an idiot. Even after all his big speech to bring Deku back to U.A, a small part of him was still hung up on the past. He needed a little bit more time to get used to this and accept it.

But Deku confessed, he turned her down, and time passed by without him correcting his words.

And then…she moved on, because she didn’t have regrets. And Katsuki? He didn’t, because he had one.

Todoroki was beside Izuku back then. He collected every piece of Izuku’s broken heart, and put them together again. Her heart had a new scar, but Todoroki wasn’t someone who cared about them.

Some scars fade within time, heart scars fade when someone cares for them. Todoroki had enough love to heal it, and was never afraid to show his affections toward Deku.

That’s why he is the one up there. Katsuki thought bitterly. Don’t get him wrong, he was happy for the couple, they were two of his close friends. He was just bitter and angry at himself.

What if.

Those words hurt.

They hurt because they open space for different paths.

They hurt because they open space for different outcomings.

They hurt because…

…

“I love you too.” He said, his lips curled up in a small smile.

Deku's smile was bright even though there were tears, happy tears, falling from her green eyes.

“Deku-channn…”

He rolled his eyes when Uraraka, who was sitting beside him, started crying during the vows, and grabbed his arm.

“Fuck off, Round Face!” He hissed, trying to release his arm from Uraraka’s death grip. When the hell she got so strong?

“But I am so happy for her and Todoroki-kun!” The brunette continued, not giving a shit about Katsuki glares at her.

“Yeah, whatever! Just tell her that later and fucking let my arm go!”

Never mind, Round Face wasn’t hearing his words at all, too busy crying over her best friend who was now a married woman.

Katsuki huffed and gave up, deciding that he should just watch the wedding of Deku and Half and Half unfold.

It wasn’t worth thinking about the ‘what ifs’ anymore, he was late. He should move on, just like Deku did.

The couple exchanged rings and kissed, people started shouting, whistling and clapping, Midoriya Inko was crying so hard that his own mother, Bakugou Mitsuki, and Shouto’s mother, Todoroki Rei had to go and calm down the older green haired woman.

Between trying to free his arm from a crying Uraraka and looking around the church, his red eyes caught Izuku’s green ones.

She smiled at him, and for a second Katsuki stopped breathing.

Deku was smiling at him, a beautiful and bright smile as always.

Thanks for coming, Kacchan. That’s what he got from that smile.

Yeah, fuck the what ifs. As long as Izuku could smile like that, any outcome was fine.

He really wasn’t one for smiles, he was more of a smirk person, but there was no way that he couldn't smile back at that moment.
