“The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one.”

"Holden Caufield would be a school shooter" DO YOU KNOW WHY IT'S CALLED THE CATCHER IN THE RYE YOU DUMB SHIT
I seriously do not understand why people say The Catcher in the Rye is an incel book, like did you fucking read it? The man is falling apart and spends the entire book making sure nobody finds out. That is the exact opposite of an incel. The book is about trying and failing to preserve the innocence and joy of childhood. Are you fucking thick
Nowadays I'm just. So sure that the people who are going "Oh teehee dumb indie guys who like Catcher in the Rye are creepy and traumadump to you and––" have never read it because a) how the fuck did you come to that conclusion after any single fucking one of Holden's monologues (cough any time he talks about his brother) and b) have you ever actually met someone like that because I assure you they do not fucking exist
For the love of god can we go one day without going "Actually x media is y buzzword" I'm going to write my last will and testament and it's going to be to flick my ashes into all of your eyes

I'm reporting from planet Earth, an obvious statement perhaps, but it never hurts to specify.
Things have been a roller coaster in the past few months. Today wasn't particularly tough, but I'll blame any melancholy on the fact that it's Sunday, even if it's about to end.
I embrace people, but I don't feel satisfied. Why? Am I perhaps being too ambitious?

So, I accidentally connected two dots and made a meme…
Image ID: Two muscular arms giving each other a handshake. The arm on the left has text saying “Tex McCormick,” the main character from Tex. The arm of the right has text saying “Holden Caulfield,” the main character of The Catcher in the Rye. On top of the handshake says “Literally hiding in the closet at some point in their respective novels,” referring to scenes in both books where Tex McCormick and Holden Caulfield literally hid in a closet.

“Among other things, you'll find that you're not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behavior. You're by no means alone on that score, you'll be excited and stimulated to know. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You'll learn from them— if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It's a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn't education. It's history. It's poetry.”

At the climax of the novel, we found Phoebe and Holden walking along a the same streets, but on different sidewalks; walking parallel to each other.
Does anybody know what this scene mean? Please help me out in the comments/reblogs.
