he also likes how you never shit talk him when klaus starts ranting about how annoying he is
klaus is a huge fan of PDA

or simply having a hand on your leg
it matters to him
and that's why you love it
sweet baby boi has so much love to give
he likes being little spoon
he just loves being in your arms
it helps with his nightmares

and then starts rambling about how enamored he is with you and how great you are
it's adorable
he's very clingy but in the best way possible
he matches outfits with you
never a dull moment with you two
often it's you trying to solve whatever problem klaus has somehow managed to conjure up
and klaus just being a devious little shit
but it doesn't matter cause you love him
sometimes he questions why you love him
it makes you cry whenever he asks
"(Y/N/N)..."
you hum in response
"why do you love me...?"
sobbing and you start listing all the reasons
and then he's sobbing
and then you're both sobbing

or some classical music that's centuries old
he really doesn't care
he likes spinning you around
he loves seeing how happy it makes you
klaus asks you the most random stuff at 3am
"... (Y/N"

he's been crushing on you since you were like 12
when did he admit it?
when he was 18.
he likes reading to you
he loves seeing you get all relaxed at the sound of his voice
it makes him fall even more in love with you
he likes PDA but not that much
just a simple touch is enough for him
this boy blushes so easily
you'll brush his hand and he'll turn so pink
sometimes you'll just be sitting there doing nothing of note
and he'll be staring at you in adoration
he's in absolute awe of you
thinks you're the most adorable thing ever
much like diego
thinks you can do no wrong
you're his sweet, precious girl
he knows everything about you off by heart
from your favourite colour
to your mums favourite song
you thinks it's endearing
he loves holding your hand
playing with your hair is one of his favourite things to do
don't get me wrong he likes when you do it to him
but he much prefers when he does it to you
he finds it really relaxing
he's usually pretty closed off about his childhood but he trusts you
sometimes when something that triggers a bad memory happens he goes to you to rant
he doesn't know what he'd do without you
you're literally his life

he tries to get you to critique him
if you don't play violin, you probably just say its all perfect
if you do, you probably give him little tips on areas to work on
you go on little dates to watch the sunset
he has to be little spoon
he just needs some comfort
just needs to be wrapped in your arms and feel safe
poor guy has been through so much
sometimes he gets mad memories of the incident with allison and you have to calm him down
he wouldn't get jealous
he'd just get rlly insecure :(
if he saw someone flirting with you he'd just get a bit sad
he would think the worst and think that you would want to leave him for them :(((
poor bby
opens up to you about how bad his childhood was
sometimes he regrets writing the book
you have to reassure him that it's okay and they don't hate him for it
sure, they did, but not anymore
klaus thinks you two are adorable together
you've got quite a few polaroids of the two of you together
he has them on those little string lights above your bed
he keeps at least one in his pocket at all times
he does that thing where you check if you still have something valuable and it's so cute for some reason
and when he checks and its still there it puts this small little smile on his face
omg it's just shfjsjfjsjf
you take care of him when he's sick
he hates it bc he feels bad that you have to take care of him
but deep down he loves it and will treasure those memories forever
but he'd do the exact same thing if you were sick
whenever you buy him something he always feels bad if he didn't get you something
"Vik it's okay! you didn't have to get me anything,"
"NO ITS NOT I NEED TO GO GET YOU SOMETHING RIGHT NOW."
it's absolutely adorable

Okay, so, I need opinions.
None of my relatives watched the 3rd season of The Umbrella Academy yet and I neeeed to talk about it with someooooone! Mostly, I'd like to know... Am I the only one who was wildly disappointed by it?
Spoilers ahead, be careful:
At the end of the second season, all I could wait and hope for was for a third season full of Klaus annoying the hell out of Dark!Ben to try and make him good, family shenanigans, surprises and good plot twists.
All I got was Klaus talking to Ben literally... What, 3 times?
And the entire family acting like a bunch of strangers again most of the times. Sure, there were some cute little family moments but I feel like it was nothing compared to the other seasons. Even in the first one they felt closer than in the third because they were not happy together and there were a lot of unfinished businesses between them, but at least they were still looking out for each other. Even though I'll admit that there were some cute scenes in the third season too, like when Diego got protective because Alison told Viktor they should have left him in his cage... Or the whole acceptance of Viktor actually, with Luther asking him to be his bestman and stuff, very nice ~ but still not enough in my opinion. Because if you took Viktor's coming out out of the story, what cute family moments would be left? Not a lot. First season was extremely subtle with each family member's bond with the others, but it was there and well done. Second season was wonderful, they all got closer and weirder, it was great. Third is... Okayish at best.
I also felt like... The acting was off most of the time? Was it always like this? Don't get me wrong, I love all these little characters and I love all these wonderful actors but... Something was off, I don't know, I don't understand.
What really disappointed me the most though, was how stupid they behaved sometimes. They did so much stupid shit without any reason whatsoever? Like, nobody, literally nobody in the entire world, would have done half of what they did. And I know, this is a story about time travel, super-powers and world saving, so of course it's not going to be realistic. But when the characters do really stupid shit without any logic it's still annoying. Especially if it feels like they're being stupid on purpose because the writers didn't know how to push the story forward other than making the characters make basic mistakes.
Speaking of stupid, why did they do Luther so dirty? They never said he was the brightest but COME ON. He became such a brainless blob in the span of 3 seasons? What. Happened. Without even speaking about his express love story with Sloan. Getting married before the end of the world to make the best out of the time they had would have been really cute. Problem is their love story happened so fast that I'm still not buying it even though they got married, reset the universe and Luther left to find her again. Also, it was really upsetting to see that nobody cared that Luther had disappeared when he got kidnapped by the Sparrows. Like. You were a team a few days ago back in the 60's and now fuck it all?
Which gets me to: Wow, sometimes the story happened so fast that I felt like I had missed a few scenes because I didn't understand why characters suddenly changed opinions or decided on new random plans or... Or... I don't know, I'm still processing everything but I specifically remember whining "Oh god why did they ruin this great show? I'm so saaaad" at the end of mostly each episode.
At the end of the first season I really liked Five, Klaus and Ben, I'm sure we can all agree, they're quite lovable. Diego was a little annoying but the softness between him and their mom? I could cry right now thinking about it. After the second season I loved them all with all my heart (and I officially had the biggest crush on Diego, let's say it was because of the hair). After this third season? My favorite character was Reginald and I think this is quite telling on the quality of the show right now. To make a fan lose interest in all the characters they loved except for the one they didn't like at all. Well done. At least they wrote a good bad/good/bad/good dad character. Oh and Klaus, I still have a soft spot for Klaus and he's the only one who could make me wince and cry when he got hurt. No such feelings for any other siblings.
Oh crap and what about Stanley?! He was such a cutie pie!! They just totally forgot about him, did they? It's kind of upsetting that he was a device to Lila but also to the writers and apparently didn't deserve a better story. Also... I might have not understood correctly because I watched it in English and sometimes I have a hard time with accents... But wasn't his mom German? Yet he knew English perfectly and had a British accent? Or did I miss something?
And what was the very last scene with Ben about? Any theories?
I have so many more things to say. So many. But I'll stop there. Please, if you agree or disagree with me, feel free to come to me and talk about it! I'd love other opinions and to debate! You can replace my friends who are too busy watching other shows to talk Umbrella Academy with me 😭😂

Anybody Gonna Come and Rescue Me? La La La!
Part 2/3: But No-one Wants To Die
"Just breathe."
"Easy for you to say, Benerino," Klaus says, hugging himself and shaking his leg, eyes fixed on the wall. He lets out a humorless, near breathless (heh) laugh. "You don't have to breathe."
"Now's not the time for lashing out."
"Tell that to the other Klauses. Klausi? Klaus already plural?"
"Klaus!"
Another empty laugh. "Really eye-opening, you know, to know what I'm like after death. That I just turn into a bitter, loveless husk like every other damn ghost I know-"
"KLAUS!" Ben gets right in his face. "Knock it off! You aren't them!"
"Yes, I am. That's sort of the whole problem!"
"You're not, because you are alive! Put your hand on your neck."
"Not in the mood for strangulation, it's not even that fun sol-"
"Quit reflecting and put your goshdamn hand on your neck."
Klaus huffs, and rolls his eyes as he puts his trembling hand over his neck.
"What do you feel?"
"Sweat?"
"A pulse. You're alive. They're dead. They're not just bitter at our siblings, they're bitter at you."
"For pissing my life away?" Klaus snaps.
"I stand by that, you needed to hear i- FUCK!"
Ben hits the floor, and Torture pulls back his fist. Klaus shoots to his feet and tries to help Ben up, but his hands go right through.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Klaus tries to push Torture away, but again, right through. "You don't get to hit Ben! Only I get to fight with Ben, and not that hard!"
"I am you," Torture spits. "And he's the same as the rest of them. We died in that closet, and the last we heard before it happened was him tearing into us for something he doesn't understand!" It's eyes lock onto Ben as he stands back up. "You just can't help it, can you Benny? Ripping people to shreds when they're down?"
"Out of line!"
"You're too scared to say what needs to be said!"
"You're too stuck on your own death to let things go! This doesn't- this doesn't solve, anything!" He shakes his hands desperately. "We can't just stew in this misery!"
"We can't get out of the lows without getting much too high though," an overdose says breathlessly (moreso than is natural for a ghost).
"We can, we can! Find! Healthy... outlets!" Klaus looks to Ben for support. "Right?"
"Normal people can," Ben huffs, rubbing his jaw.
"You little shitheel-"
"Klaus?"
He startles, and the ghosts flood the room. He claps his hands over his ears as they all start screaming, screaming and clawing and gnashing and grabbing and seething and crying-
Luther is leaning in through the doorway, all of their other siblings just behind him. And they're all frowning at him, they're always frowning at him, what's new there, really.
"What's going on? We heard you shouting about Ben." He tilts his head at Luther, trying to read his lips. It takes three repeats for him to get it, the frowns turning more and more into scowls each time.
"Oh. Um..."
"Tell them!" Ben shouts above the clamoring.
"Some... ghost bitch punched Ben." Klaus shuts his eyes. "And they do not know how to take a hint to fuck off!"
"You want the wrong ones to leave!" one of the ghosts wails. "It's them! THEM!"
Klaus shakes his head, stepping back. He feels a hand on his shoulder, a living hand, and then feels a shock of cold in his side he jerks away from it and then the hand is gone and there's even more yelling-
And then the door slams and the ghost go silent. Klaus peeks his eyes open.
Just Ben.
"You headbutted Diego," Ben says softly. "Trying to pull away from the rave one."
Klaus flops backwards onto his bed and whines. "Shit."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Am I in the clear?"
"Confront them," Torture hisses. "He cared more about his lady friend than us being tortured. Confront them!"
"Not talking to you," Klaus whispers sharply.
"You're in the clear," Ben says with a sigh. "Or you could, I don't know, tell them what's going on?"
"Yeah, that'll go over great, Benny. Hey guys, I've been lashing out lately because I'm surrounded by my own ghosts, a lot of whom died because of you all! Really good for our just-healing familial bonds. Probably even better for Viktor, I'm sure it won't send him into a panic attack."
"Klaus-"
"Making a sandwich, can't hear you."
He finishes his plain, sad little sandwich (turns out his stomach's a bit fucked up from years of hard drugs and alcohol and dumpster food, who could've guessed that outcome?) (Ben did) and starts to head to his room.
He pauses.
The ghosts... love his room. They trace the words and drawings on the wall with their fingers, so many of them having died so close to when those were written or added... sometimes they hold the smaller ones up to the words to try and teach them to read, but Ben's the only ghost Klaus has ever known who was capable of learning new non-ghostly things after death.
They're probably still there now, besides Torture and the stray teenage one. And a few non-Klaus ghosts, but with a bit of focus those ones go away.
... Klaus sits at the table.
He gets four bites into the sandwich before his family file in, one by one, to the little kitchen. He groans and shoots a glare at Ben.
"You said you couldn't hear me anyway." Ben doesn't even try to hide the smirk.
Klaus looks back at his sandwich.
"Klaus." Luther sits first, and everyone else follows his lead. "We need to talk about your behavior lately."
"Not on drugs, for the millionth time," Klaus says around a mouthful of turkey and mayo. And ugh, nutty bread. What's the appeal of bread with bits in it?
"Not that, but, we might revisit that later."
"He knows what being high looks like, even if he doesn't want to admit it," Rave spits. Klaus's shoulders slump as the rest of his ghosts trickle into the room, snarling and scowling and sobbing. "He just looks down on us."
But Luther shakes his head. "No, um, we need to talk about yesterday. About what you did to Diego."
Diego sits on the other end of the table, one arm crossed of his chest while he flips a knife with the other, a bandage over his nose. "You broke it," Diego says bluntly. "Didn't even know you could do that on purpose, much less accident."
"Why do they always assume we're weak?" a teen says, swiping a hand through Diego's head to try and smack him. "Let's see them die time and time again and stay sane."
"I wouldn't say you stayed one-hundred percent sane." Ben gestures at Rave specifically. Klaus laughs a little.
"It's not something to laugh about," Allison scolds. "Klaus, you hurt him."
"Sorry. No, I-I wasn't laughing about that, I swear. Ben made a- nevermind. I didn't mean to headbutt him, honest."
"Then what were you doing?" Viktor leans forward. "You kind of looked like... I don't know. I mean, I've had some overloads thanks to my powers before-"
"Understatement," Diego mutters, earning a glare from Five and Allison.
"-and it looked like that you were doing."
"Yeah, well, ghosts love emotionally vulnerable moments and hate being told to go away. Sort of did it to myself."
Luther frowns. "What, they were... preying on you?"
Klaus laughs again. "Yeah! Yeah, fuck. They are, aren't they? I always end up like that."
He forces himself not too look at 'Nam and the hole in it's head.
"Well... can we help?" Luther gestures at the air around Klaus. "Clear them away? Isn't, uh... incense, a thing?"
"Tried it, Luther, but thank you."
"What about your own powers?" Five has that studying look to his eyes again. "Can you make them go away?"
"Getting better at it. But some of them are stubborn old bastards."
"Not by choice," Torture grumbles. "We just don't have other options."
"I know," Klaus says with a sigh.
"... Know what?"
Klaus waves his hand in the air. "Ghosts don't get to stay sane. Ben's the only exception. This one was just reminding me it doesn't really have a choice but to stick around on this plane."
"They do have a choice not to torment you," Ben says, stepping forward. "You know they do."
Klaus nods a little. "But they're real dicks about what they do while they're stuck here."
"Forever," an overdose huffs. "As long as you are, good ol' pulse-boy."
"Terrible nickname."
"Well excuse me, I died with lethal amounts of heroin inside of me, so sorry my snark isn't up to par."
"What do they all think this will accomplish anyway?" the teen with the knife in it's chest spits. "They already killed us. Little late to start sympathizing."
"Better late than never."
"Klaus." Luther snaps his fingers in front of Klaus's eyes. "Stop debating the ghosts, or whatever it is you're doing. This is serious."
"So are we," Rave huffs. Klaus takes a deep breath.
"I know. It's just a little distracting."
"We're not just talking about yesterday," Five says, barreling over Klaus's statement. "You've been snapping at us a lot lately."
"Sobriety grumpies. Working on it."
"No, I don't think that's it." Five leans in. "You got pretty intense with me when I checked on you."
"And you were accusing the love of my life of being some spy," Klaus fires back, gritting his teeth a bit at the memory. "Excuse me for getting defensive of him."
"Love of your- wait, go back." Allison leans in now. "When did this happen?"
"Oh, I time-travelled. Five knows, I think I told Diego."
"No you didn't, when the hell was this?"
"After you all left us for dead!" Torture screams. Klaus winces, swallows, and speaks carefully to prevent his voice from shaking.
"The veteran bar fight wasn't enough of a clue?"
Diego's eyes go wide. "Shit. That's what you meant?"
"What else would we-"
"-I have meant?"
"Maybe you met someone who served, not that you met someone who served back in time."
"When?" Viktor holds a hand out to stop Diego from talking more. "I mean, when did you go back to?"
"... 1968. For ten months. Dave was... the only person that I've... that I've ever felt that way for."
"1968..." Allison catches on first. "Holt shi- the Vietnam War? How-how did you survive that?!"
Klaus and 'Nam both bark out the same bitter, half-amused laugh. It makes Klaus shudder immediately after.
"What's that?" Diego gestures at Klaus with his knife. "We're trying t-t-to listen to y-y-you. Y-y-you w-w-were in a w-war? A-a-alone?"
"I had Dave."
"How did you even- wouldn't you need a briefcase?" Allison looks at Five. "Did you-"
"No." The softness becomes... guilt. "Klaus mentioned it before. I disregarded it. ... I shouldn't have."
"Disreg-"
"He was tortured, by Hazel and Cha-Cha." Five looks Klaus in the eyes. "That's what you meant, right?"
They all look at him, with mixed expressions of horror and shock and guarded denial.
Klaus shrugs. "Tortured them back, if it helps. Not with the beatings, or anything, let's just say my shining personality and... eccentric tastes weren't something they loved being around. It's the first time that trait of mine's been useful, hah."
"Wh-wh-whe-"
"I told you about this," Klaus says softly, looking at Diego. "Remember? After the bar?"
All eyes turn to Diego.
"I-I-I... P-Patch-"
"Of course," Torture sobs. It turns into a wail. "OF COURSE!"
"Klaus told you he was tortured and you were focused on your police fling?!" Allison scoffs, turning away from Diego. "I can't believe you-"
"I-I was-wasn-wasn't the o-o-only one," Diego defends, eyes shining in the same light as the knife that keeps flipping faster and faster.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"None of you noticed," Rave growls. Klaus puts his hands over his ears.
"W-w-we all mi-m-m-missed that he g-g-got taken-"
"None of you noticed," Torture whispers.
"We were a little busy!"
"None of you ever notice," 'Nam spits
"So w-w-was I!"
"None of you ever will notice," an overdose cackles.
"You're one he's always clinging to-!"
"NONE OF YOU NOTICED!" Klaus jerks up. "OKAY?! NO-ONE NOTICED, SO STOP FIGHTING OVER IT! NO-ONE'S WORSE OR BETTER THAN ANYONE, OKAY? PLEASE!"
Silence.
The first to speak up is Viktor. "Has that... happened before?"
And it's like every bit of strength is sucked out of him.
He collapses back into the chair, and gives a weak chuckle. "Yeah. Yeah... you could say that." He looks at the mausoleum ghosts, with their baby-fat cheeks and ever-bloodshot eyes and trembling blue lips. "Once or twice."
The ghosts explode.
He gasps and slams his hands over his ears as they clamor, they scream, they demand justice and revenge and pain and acknowledgement and it's his own voice over and over and over screaming things he would never say never want never need-
"Fuck this!"
Two cold shocks in his back. His eyes fly open, mouth agape. His siblings are gathered around him, trying to snap him out of it and Diego won't let anyone touch him and he's crying and Luther is trying to swipe at the air around him and and Viktor is trying to get his attention to help him breathe and Allison is shock-still and Five is snapping his fingers but Klaus can't hear them and-
"Fuck this."
Two more shocks. He thinks he screams. Everything is blue.
"Enough is enough."
Two more. He chokes, and he loses.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Klaus? Klaus, breathe with me- Five, stop it."
"He's catatonic."
"D-d-don't t-t-touch- he-he m-m-might not-"
"I can shake him out of it, just get off of me-"
Klaus lets out a short, sharp scream, and the blue flickering in his hands gets stronger. Ben flickers into view in the corner, yelling at-
"Who's Ben yelling at?" Luther asks.
Klaus chokes.
The room is full.
The glowing blue forms of dozens and dozens of ghosts appear all around them, making all of them jump and huddle together-
"Let me breathe!"
Allison looks down, and her eyes widen in horror. Everyone else follows and...
A child, no more than six or seven, is tugging at her pant leg. A child in a tiny uniform, sweater vest and tie and jacket, with curly hair and tired eyes, a child who is inarguably, undoubtedly-
"Klaus?" Allison's lip trembles.
"Please let me breathe! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, let me breathe!"
"I was right," Five says softly. "He did mean he'd died. But that means..."
They all, slowly, look up.
Every ghost, of every age, of countless and gruesome injured to barely visible signs of death-
"Klaus," Viktor breathes. "Oh, god, Klaus..." He startles as a toddler, toddler, with a broken neck and broken bones clings to his leg, sobbing and begging and it's barely understandable because he's just a toddler he can't even speak well-
"How many..." Luther looks at Klaus, the living one. "No. No, that's not-"
They all look at him. He's stiff in the chair, mouth hanging open in a silent scream and eyes blazing blue, hands glowing with the same intensity where they stay gripping over his ears. And around him, three more, all sticking their arms into his torso.
"You- you died that night?" Luther's voice cracks.
And one of them, in tree-patterned tank top, smiles. Coldly, gleefully. "Hi, Luther. Sure was some rave, wasn't it? That girl's boyfriend really thought so."
"No, that didn't- I'd have noticed-"
"Would you?" One of the others, with blood all over and only a towel around it's waist and tape over it's mouth, looks Luther in the eyes. It's voice rings clearly, despite the gag. "I'd say everything around you says otherwise."
"We didn't-" Allison looks down at the child still tugging at her pants. She looks at the ghosts, more than one, far more than one clearly having died on missions, died unprotected, died unnoticed-
"No-one ever notices." The final one by Klaus, in the army fatigues and with a giant hole in his head, his skull is blown apart oh god Klaus has had his skull blown apart-
"We can- we can fix this," Viktor says, stepping forward a bit. "We won't let this happen again."
"No." The one in the tree shirt laughs. "You won't."
All three pull their arms out. Klaus goes slack. But the glow stays. The ghosts stay.
"Don't do this!" they hear Ben shout from somewhere in the crowd.
The tree shirt one holds up one finger. "Ghosts are either inconsolably angry-"
The war one points at the children by Viktor and Allison. "-Utterly despaired-"
The tortured one points at the crowd of ghosts that they can only assume are overdoses, pale and shaking and laughing to cover sobs. "-or frantically hopeless."
All the ghosts, every single one in the room, speak the next words in unison.
"Ben is the only exception."
And then they swarm.

i'm here to talk vanya :)
1. i don't think vanya has considered the harm it would do to her siblings when she published her book. one thing that stands out to me is how the hargreaves always thought the others had it better and failed to see their pain, luther thinking five was lucky to skip out on reginald's abuse and not taking his loneliness into account for example. in the same vein vanya thought she had it worst cuz she was left out, without considering the trauma her siblings were going thru. the tattoo scene demonstrated this mind-set quite clearly. so when she was writing that book, i don't think she knew just how much it would hurt her siblings, cuz she herself wanted desperately to get on that team.
2. a common theme with her three outbursts are betrayal. pogo, leonard and alison were all withholding information from her, the three people arguably the closest to her in S1. i think the reason why the fandom forgave her so easily for killing pogo and gave luther so much shit for locking her up is the reasons behind those actions. most ppl have experienced some sort of betrayal and the anger that followed, so it's easier to understand where she's coming from. luther for the last two episodes was being cold and calculating and extremely stupid, wanting to kill and abandon one of his siblings until the final scene, while this still makes sense from the character's pov, it's frustrating to watch as a viewer. (also i doubt vanya was fully aware when she was activating her power. when ben was inside her head in S2 she was crying in the corner asking "i'm doing it again aren't i", meaning she might not have full control over herself? and the younger version of herself that talked to her in the basement might be her darker side or whatever? idk but that would be my guess.)
3. i do agree that there is a bias towards vanya in the fandom, but i don't think it's totally unwarranted. when compared to her siblings vanya is the least calculating (maybe except for klaus) and while she did hurt ppl around her it's almost always not within her control (compare that to five or alison or luther) she is the most emotional amongst the siblings and that simply makes her more sympathetic. her story is also the easiest to relate to. very few of us know what it's like to live by ourselves for four decades or having to do substance abuse to shut out the dead, but most of us would at some point feel that we're not special enough, or that we're not loved by those around us. that might explain her popularity. that and Elliot Page.
thx for reading this. i want to hear ur thoughts.
When I saw this ask, my heart started beating real fast. I will try to properly answer each point.
1. I completely agree that Hargreeves have an annoying habit of undermining others' problems and thinking they had it better. E.g “You skipped out his golden years” ← Diego to Five. And yes, in the heat of the moment of writing the book she most definitely didn’t think about consequences. But if my math is correct, it was 5 years before the current time of the show. And yet, she still looked like a kicked puppy over it. And Diego was still maximally pissed off about it even after 5 years, so let’s assume what she wrote there was really beyond the line of decency. Even Ben was shocked to read it. And the unawareness of consequences does not excuse her. It is understandable but it doesn’t erase the fact she had no right.
2. Again, being hurt and acting out of betrayal and anger does not excuse her behaviour. I do completely get from where she was coming. However, if I in blind rage beat up someone, I would still be held accountable. Also it’s important to look at the way she killed Pogo and Leonard. That violence was and is part of her. Interesting thing you pointed out [and I will from now take in consideration] is that she might not be fully in control of herself in those moments. But it does not erase the fact she did it. And if we excuse Vanya killing Pogo out of hurt and betrayal, why don’t we excuse Luther for acting out of fear and unsureness? He did not lock her up out of malice but out of a drilled sense of need to protect his siblings. Vanya proposed a threat and he did not know better at the time. Yet you all were ready to crucify him and hug Vanya.
Also acting out of pain in a murderous way, I would like to point to Diego. Okay, he was not betrayed but he was hurt by Eudora getting killed. He sought revenge. Just like Vanya, we understand where he was coming from. But he did hold back at the end, not finishing off ChaCha. Vanya killed and slaughtered both Leonard and Pogo. There is no way to not acknowledge her darker side.
3. I do not agree on the fact she is the least calculating of the bunch. I would actually put her in third place. Following Five and Allison. Vanya seems timid and calm as long as everything goes her way. The moment it doesn’t? Shit happens.
Good example of it is the whole “Sissy and Harlan business.” Five very clearly explained to her why she can’t take them to present with her. And he did go out of his way to let her say goodbye. [even though it clearly caused him even more stress and there was no time for it].
What did she do? She ignored Five, stubbornly taking Sissy and Harlan with her and if they actually made it to the alley, I bet my ass she would fight Five in order to bring them along.
And I do get why a lot of people relate to her. Outsider, overlooked, undermined, neglected, shy to some degree. And she is empathetic. And she has the most relatable problems. BUT the moment someone crosses her, it’s over for them. And that needs to be taken into account. She is not harmless. She is not least dangerous. She does not need to be cooed. And surely she doesn't have to be so easily forgiven.
Your pain does not excuse your actions. You don’t get to play victim and hide after you do what you do. You don’t get to be a hypocrite.
I tried my best to explain my point of view. I’m sorry it took me so long.

Hello, could you write a fluff Five x reader where they got married in secret while in the 60s and the siblings realize after seeing the couple being cute together and they think it's adorable how in love Five is ?
Please, love ur blog 😊💖
Summary: Five Hargreeves enjoyed the sixties a lot more then he originally thought he would.
Ship: Five Hargreeves x criminal!reader
Warnings: none
Note: I added so many details because I love this concept LMAO. also I don’t know how I would be able to make them married because he’s in a 13 year old body??? but yeah I tried djddoidjkijsds 💖
“Hey, stop right there!” the cashier of Manny’s Groceries shouted, grabbing everybody’s attention.
But she didn’t stop.
She turned around and flipped the worker off, then ran faster out of the scene and she completely disappeared by the time the police had arrived. And besides, they didn’t have much to go by. The girl was wearing a large hoodie with leggings and converse. It was pointless.
That girl was none other then Y/N L/N, a 13 year old ‘criminal’ who lived on the main floor of an apartment building without anyone knowing. However, mentally, she was 60. A long time ago, her body was frozen by her parents because the girl suffered from a sickness that didn’t have a cure. Just recently she was unfrozen and given the cure, but her parents had died and now she’s all alone, stealing from stores just to survive.
Y/N arrived in the apartment building and practically collapsed to the ground from exhaustion. Looking through the bag, she was relieved to find her favorite item: waffles. She would eat those delicious things if they were stepped on by the worlds dirtiest pair of boots. The starving girl stuffed about 3 in her mouth, being sure to swallow it down with a water bottle she had found on the ground outside. It wasn’t the best life to live, but it certainly wasn’t the worst.
She gazed at the clock on the wall. Shit! Y/N was going to be late. Getting up and running towards Elliot Gussman’s door, she was surprised to see that it was open. That paranoid man always locked his door.
You could say that Y/N was Elliot’s friend, or you could say that she was really interested in his crazy theories he makes up. Either way, it’s still fun.
“Elliot?” she called, holding the box of waffles like it was a weapon. The ruffling noise in the room had got quiet, and Y/N gulped. “Hey, if it’s not a good time, then-”
Suddenly, a boy that appeared her age was in front of her in a flash of blue. She was so taken aback that she fell over. However, she caught herself and the boy furrowed his eyebrows, seemingly impressed.
“Do you know Elliot?” He asked, weary of her every move. She scoffed, deciding to be sarcastic towards him.
“No, I just happened to walk into the room calling Elliot. Elliot as in my dead cat. Have you seen him, by the way? He’s ab-”
He covered her mouth with his hand, rolling his eyes. Y/N was prepared though, and quickly bit down causing the boy to scream curses, letting go. She ran to Elliot.
“You okay? What happened? Did he hurt you?” She asks frantically, checking for injuries. Y/N would never let the only person who treated her with respect get hurt.
“No, It’s fine. We’re fine.” He responds in a panicked voice. Too panicked. She looks back at the boy who’s smirking at her.
“Yeah. Let the adults talk, okay princess?”
The 3 of them sat in Elliot’s living room. He was explaining his theories to the boy (named Five, out of all the names to exist) and he was very interested in the theories Elliot was talking about, except he actually believed them. One them being how the man saw people come out of ‘black holes’ in the exact same spot at different time periods. He was SO interested, in fact, that he offered to look for them.
That made Y/N suspicious.
Very suspicious.
After some very serious research (stalking) she had come to a conclusion that Five Hargreeves was from 2019 and he accidentally teleported his family to different parts of 1963 and were now determind to get back to their original home. It intruiged her a lot if she was being completly honest. Luckily, Elliot had eventually made a little room for her to stay in and Five was often there. So, her and Elliot were officially “part of the gang” as some people would put it.
After some time, Five and her got along REALLY well. They were both incredibly smart (and both mentally the same age but that was past the point) and had the same hobbies and interests. It wasn’t long before a relationship had started.
Well, it wasn’t labeled. And they certainly weren’t friends. Friends don’t share secret kisses and hold hands under the table.
And they thought that they could keep it secret.
And for awhile, they did.
-
Luther and Diego entered the house to find a dead Elliot on a chair. They were both very saddened by this, but it quickly turned into concern when the two of them couldn’t find Y/N anywhere.
She was always with him.
So you can only imagine the panicked state Five was in when he came in.
“What do you MEAN you don’t know where she is?!” He seethed, looking around. “How is she not with him? She’s ALWAYS with him!”
“Five, I’m sure we’ll find her-”
“Your reassurance is useless. I’LL find her, not you imbeciles. Now do us all a favor and stay here and...behave please. I’ll be back whenever.” And with that being said he teleported away.
-
In honesty, Five wasn’t that worried. He knew exactly where she was. It was a hiding spot she would go to whenever she felt sad or nervous. He went there immediatley to find her in the fetal position in the corner, crying and covered with Elliot’s blood.
“Y/N?” He asked weakly. She looked at him.
“He’s dead, isn’t he?” Her voice broke. Five couldn’t bare to do anything but nod sadly, looking away.
“It’s my fault.” She muttered, barely audible for him to hear. “I...I watched them, Five. I watched 3 guys beat the absolute shit out of him...I did nothing. I just ran! Like an idiot! He would be alive if I had just been there! Bu-”
Then Five did something that she (and he) never thought he would do.
He wrapped his arms around her torso and hugged her.
For the most part, Five wasn’t an affectionate person. The only thing he would allow were small touches on the hand if he was scared (which wasn’t often) and pecks on the lips if he was really feeling it.
It took her by surprise, but she melted into it, letting tears fall into his shoulder. He let her go when he noticed that her breathing was finally back to normal.
“You okay?” He asked softly again, wiping the remaining tears off of her face with the pad of his thumbs. She sniffed and nodded, making him smile.
“Not that this isn’t adorable...which, it is, but Five? We gotta go!” Diego’s voice was heard in front of them. They both gasped, turning to him with red faces.
“What are YOU doing here?!” he seethed, helping Y/N up. He chuckled before holding out a tracking device that showed Five’s location.
“Just in case you decided to turn against us at some point, I had this.” He explained, a smirk planted on his face.
“Whatever, let’s go.” Five mumbled, walking out of the room, his face still a nice shade of red. However, Diego turned to the girl.
“Sorry about Elliot.” He ruffled her hair before exiting.

Diego walks through the corridors of the house. He sighs, taking courage, and knocks on the door. When it opens, his sister Vanya is at the other side.
“Hey, Diego,” She says with a smile.
"I need your help, it’s urgent," He answers nervously. She frowns and lets him walk into her room.
"What's up?" Diego sits on the bed and plays with his hands. "I've never seen you so nervous…”
"Nervous? Me? Please,” He scoffs.
"What? You’re in trouble?" Vanya stands in front of him and crosses her arms.
"Something like that," he finally says.
Vanya knows what her brother does at night. Using his skill with knives and the arduous training everyone had in their childhood, Diego takes it upon himself to aid helpless people.
"Do you need me to call the police?"
"No, not that kind of problem,” he says wiping his hands on his pants.
“Okay, I don't mean to sound rude, but you're not giving useful information. So maybe you better ask someone else for help?”
"No!" Vanya startles, pulling away a bit. "Shit, I'm sorry– I didn't want to scare you, just that- uh, I-" He growls. “You're the only one who can help me, Vanya.”
The relationship she has with her brothers is somewhat complicated. With Diego, she’s sure that she’s not Diego's first choice when he needs help, so this is confusing.
"What's going on?" She sits next to him on the bed.
"I'm not good at these things,” He answers through gritted teeth. "But I’m desperate, this’ll be my last try,” Vanya raises her eyebrows. “I have problems with... girls?"
Both of them are silent for a few seconds.
"Since when? How come only I can help you?"
"Oh come on, you're the only one with a stable relationship!”
She can't help a little smile.
"Sissy is not my girlfriend.”
"But you haven't ruined it yet, you're the one that has lasted the longest out of all.”
Maybe that's true.
"And Allison? She’s still with Raymond.”
Diego makes a face and scratches the back of his neck.
"She wouldn't help me for this.”
“Why?" Vanya now understands the big problem. “Oh… Are you sure you want to try?"
"You already regret wanting to help me?"
“No, it's just that- well… are we talking about Y/N? Allison's best friend?” She asks.
They met Y/N when they were twelve years old and since then she and Allison have been inseparable, actually, they all like her and over time she’s gained the trust of the Hargreeves.
"But doesn't she hate you?"
Diego nods, feeling hopeless. It’s true that for his last -perhaps only- opportunity, he needs Vanya's help and her attitude is not helping at all, or at least that’s what he thinks.
Vanya grins and Diego looks at her in disbelief.
"I'm not laughing at you, idiot,” She smiles. "I thought you’d already given up with her.”
"I guess I can still attempt something, but this is my last try,” He says.
From the moment Diego saw Y/N, he thought she was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen in his life, but every time he tried to talk to her the girl would walk away or try to avoid him, so the only solution a 12-year-old could think of was to tease her; from pulling her hair, making fun, throwing knives at her -without hurting her- and as they grew older insults were added. In a way, Diego's plan worked, Y/N noticed him more, but it was only to yell at him. All this caused Diego's feelings for her to grow faster. He explained it to Vanya and she laughed again.
“So, all those bruises, yelling and insults were because you like her?” She says.
"Hey, I was just a kid!” He defends. "Now's different and I really want to do things right."
His sister is surprised, this is not a game, Diego’s asking her for help to conquer a girl and Vanya thinks it can work.
"I just want to add, I always believed you’d be a good couple.”
Diego's eyes light up.
“You'll help me?"
“That's right, brother. But you have to follow my lead…”
"I promise. Thank you, Sis! " he hugs Vanya very tightly making her squeal.
Later the doorbell rings, Allison's voice sounds soon after.
"Oh, that's right,” says Vanya with a smile, looking at her brother. “Y/N'll have dinner with us.”
Diego's breath hitches and his muscles tense.
"Oh.”
"First lesson, Diego."
***
After a few hours, they are whispering in the main hall, Diego’s about to panic as Vanya tries to reassure him.
"What am I supposed to do?"
"First, breathe,” she says. “It’s only dinner, relax. You can start with compliments, maybe of what she’s wearing, things like that.”
"Ok, ok, I can do that,” answers Diego.
“Well, let's go.”
Vanya takes his hand and they both enter the dining room, the other members are already waiting. Luther is the first, and on his left side are Allison, Y/N and then Ben, opposite to Luther is Klaus, then Five. Vanya tells Diego to sit across from Y/N and she sits at the end of the table.
Diego feels his legs shaking when he sees the girl for whom he’s trying his best not to scream. She’s laughing at something Allison said, the boy can't help but smile when he sees her happy. He sits down and waits patiently for dinner.
For a few minutes he only allows himself to admire her without saying anything, everything that Vanya said to him disappeared and he can't help but think how great it’d be the reason why she laughs, to take her hand under the table, whisper in her ear and kiss her cheek…
But his fantasies are interrupted by Vanya, who clears her throat to get their attention. While Luther helps his mother serve food, the others talk different things.
"It's good to see you again, Y/N,” says Vanya looking at the girl and she smiles at her.
“Same here, Vanya. How’s Sissy?"
"She’s fine, actually, we've thought about going to see a movie, any recommendations?"
Vanya could remember that Allison's best friend wanted to see a movie, and she had no one to go see it with, because none of her friends liked it, but she knew a certain man that would be willing to go without problems. The girl's eyes lit up, but then she grimaced.
"Oh yeah, they released a good one, but I'm not sure you’ll like it.”
"Are you still crying about it?" Says Five entering the conversation. Y/N looks at him offended.
"Shut up, I thought you’d be my salvation, but I only suffered from your betrayal!”
"That rhymed!" Klaus claps and Five rolls his eyes.
“None of your siblings want to go, but if you do, can I go with you? I don't mind being third wheeling…”
That's Diego's chance, but he doesn't say anything, so Vanya lightly kicks his leg.
"I could go with you!”
Everyone at the table looks at him in surprise and Vanya just wants to hit him again. Apparently yelling wasn’t part of Diego's plan. Y/N raises both eyebrows and huffs.
“Yes, right. I don't want you to be throwing popcorn at me during the whole movie, Diego. And surely you’d be talking all the time,” She rolls her eyes and Diego lowers his head. He knows the reason why she thinks that. It wouldn't be the first time that a movie went wrong because of their arguments.
Ben could notice how uncomfortable his brother is, so he decides to change the subject and now everyone forgets what happened. Vanya leans over to talk to Diego.
"What the hell was that?"
"I don't know, your help was useless!”
“You have to slow down, Diego. Baby steps, come on, give her a compliment!”
"Yes, okay,” He says nodding and they both turn to her.
Diego takes the time to think through his next move. Everyone has finished eating. When Diego leaves the dishes in the kitchen, he returns to the table and sees Y/N alone, perhaps waiting for her friend, so he approaches a little and notices her outfit.
He clears his throat to get her attention and smiles, hiding all the anxiety he feels.
"Hey, that blouse suits you very well, it matches your eyes,” While Diego expects a positive response, he receives the opposite.
"If that's your way to check out my breasts, let me tell you it's a pathetic attempt.”
Diego straightens up.
"No, no, no, no, n-o is not what I- uh, I didn't mean to," He stutters and behind him comes a laugh.
"My pathetic brother,” says Allison reaching her friend's side. Y/N huffs and they both leave the house.
Diego is startled when he feels a hand on his shoulder.
"Ok, that went wrong,” says Vanya. "Maybe you can offer to take her home?" She tries.
“She'll probably think I'm going to kidnap her," he says with a grimace.
***
The next day Diego and Vanya talk for hours about all the possibilities in which his comments can go. After last night, Diego can't take any risks.
"Hey, it's not my fault that your favorite hobby was teasing her."
"I know! I know I was an idiot, but I didn't think this was going to happen,” He says.
"Now we can only hope for a miracle."
Diego complains again and hides his face with a pillow.
"Vanya, have you seen my skirt?" Klaus says entering the room. "Trouble in paradise, Dieguito?"
Diego restrains himself from throwing a knife at his brother.
"No, Klaus, I haven't seen it, are you going out?"
"Oui, mademoiselle. Y/N and Allison invited me to a party- Oh! There it is…”
Klaus grabs the skirt from the floor and leaves the room and as soon as the door closes, Diego sits on the bed and takes off his pillow. Both siblings share a hopeful look.
***
“Now, tell me how the hell am I going to be able to talk to her if she's with an idiot,” says Diego speaking louder so that Vanya could hear him above the music.
"As soon as she’s alone, you must go at it,” she answers.
These days have been stressful for the boy, he cannot believe his bad luck and he’s not used to this. Normally he has no problems with girls, he’s dated and even had a serious relationship with Patch, why is it so difficult with Y/N?
Hours pass and it comes to the moment when Diego is left alone on the balcony of the host's house, cursing every happy couple that passes by, and snorting every time he sees Klaus with a different drink. But everything changes when he hears a voice complaining near the balcony.
The boy walks away from the railing and toward the doors, only to find Y/N yelling at the boy she was with earlier. Diego doesn’t know what is happening, but he can get an idea of how it will end, especially when he sees that the boy takes Y/N by the neck and forces her to kiss him. Anger runs through the boy's body and he's about to go and hit the jerk, but halfway he stops totally shocked.
Y/N steps away from the idiot and punches him hard on his nose, causing him to fall to the ground and scream covering his face with his hand. Everyone around him reaches out to help and see what happens. The girl takes advantage of the opportunity, runs out of the scene, straight to the balcony passing Diego without noticing him.
The boy follows her, he can see that she’s holding her wrist and complaining, so he runs around the house and gets a bag with ice as if they were chasing him, he returns just as fast.
“Hey,” He catches her attention and she looks up with teary eyes.
"Diego, please, not now," She says in a tired voice.
"I brought you ice, for your hand,” He says quickly.
She looks at him and nods raising her injured hand. Diego gently takes it and puts the ice on it. He tries to ignore the chill that runs through his body at feeling her soft hand.
"Does it hurt too much?" he asks trying to distract her.
"I've never hit someone before," She says with a grimace. Diego smiles sideways, he can't help but be proud.
"Maybe I could teach you one day, I'm an expert in punching and receiving every day…” He says without much thought and she laughs slightly.
"I've only seen you fight with your brothers, but something tells me that you are not lying," She adds with amusement.
"It was a great blow, surely he deserved it.”
"Some people don't know what ‘No’ means" She sighs.
"I think it’s clear to him now.”
"I didn't know you liked parties," She replies, looking at him.
"Today I had a good reason to like them,” He shrugs.
"A girl?" When he nods she laughs again. "I think it's the longest conversation we've had without insulting each other…”
Diego laughs too.
"In my defense, I've tried to have a civil conversation with you for a couple of days, but you weren't helping much,” She frowns.
"I know you well, Diego. You always try to make fun of me.”
His smile disappears.
“I don't want to do it anymore, Y/N,” His serious face confuses her.
"What are you talking about?"
Before Diego could answer, Allison reaches his side and checks on her friend, pushing her brother away. Y/N assures her that she's fine, mentioning Diego's help, but Allison doesn't care.
"I'm glad but– uh, we have a problem.”
"I'm not in the mood to have another one,” complains the girl.
“Ray’s car just broke and we have to go with some friend of his, I have to take Klaus before we lose him and Vanya and Sissy left already, so... there's no place for you,” says Allison with a grimace, “Sorry.”
Y/N complains taking the ice from Diego's hands.
"Are you serious?"
"I'm sorry, really, Ray said that he offered his place for you, but you know he lives far away…”
Y/N doesn't live very far, but she can't go alone in the dark and Diego knows that.
“I'll take you home,” He offers.
“Diego…” starts Allison, but he cuts her off.
“It's not a game, I promise. Come on, I can't let her walk alone, I can watch over her,” He puffs out his chest.
"Okay, but if something else happens, I won't hesitate in saying the magic words to you, brother,” threatens Allison. The boy stirs uncomfortably knowing very well what the magic words are.
Both friends say goodbye and Allison returns to the party. It doesn't take long for her, her boyfriend, and brother to leave.
"Do you want to go?" Diego asks shyly and she nods.
***
The two of them walk slowly towards Y/N's house in a slightly awkward silence. She keeps holding her wrist.
"What did you mean before?" she asks suddenly.
"What?"
"When we were on the balcony, you said you didn't want to make fun of me anymore.”
Diego fortunately remembers Vanya's advices: ‘Don't be too hasty’, ‘Tell her how you feel when you get the chance’, ‘Don't scare her’, ‘Be honest’, ‘No, you can't just kiss her and then run away’.
He shakes his head and keeps walking.
“Sorry for being an idiot all these years. You may not believe me, but I want to try to fix things with you.”
"How?"
"Good question,” He replies with a grimace. “I don't know, these days I've tried to be nice to you, but you think I'm still playing– I don't blame you!” He raises his hands. “You have many reasons, but– I just want to say that…” He sighs. “I don't want to continue with that.”
She frowns in confusion, but also wants to know more.
"Why do you suddenly want to do it?"
"It's not something spontaneous, I- uh…” He fidgets. "Since I've known you, I wanted to be your friend and I thought you were beautiful and all,” He says with honesty. "But you always did your best to ignore me, so I did all those things to get your attention.”
Confession takes weight off his shoulders. Y/N stays silent, thinking about Diego's words. Without realizing it, they both arrive at her house. The girl steps forward a bit, but Diego takes her free hand and draws her.
"Listen, I know it's a lot to think about and you might not believe me, but I really want to be with you."
She knows that he’s not lying, Diego had never dared to talk to her like that, but there’s still something that prevents her from trusting him.
"What are you really asking me, Diego?"
He thinks about it and smiles sideways.
“I’m asking for an opportunity. Just one, you won't regret it.”
Y/N laughs at his confident demeanor, then he gets a little closer, looks directly into her eyes and puts a lock behind her ear with gentl e fingers.
"When we were kids,” She says, taking a step back. "I used to walk away from you because I thought you were cute, I liked you, but when you wanted to talk… I’d get nervous and run away,” She admits. "Then you started teasing me so I thought you hated me and eventually I gave up,” She shrugs.
Diego can't believe what he's hearing and feels stupider. He could’ve had the girl of his dreams much sooner if only things weren't wrong. They’re both silent, she waits for an answer but Diego continues to panic. Finally she sighs again.
"One chance, Hargreeves.” She points out and Diego's eyes lit up.
"Only one,” He says avoiding the urge to jump for joy. She shakes her head, but smiling sweetly.
Y/N goes up the stairs of her house and before opening the door she turns back to find Diego doing a very strange dance. As soon as he notices her look, he stops and smiles innocently.
"Good night, angel," He says, smirking.
"Good night, Diego.”

okay so i tried to save this ask as a draft and it got deleted because tumblr is just such a functional website like that <3 but the prompt was “the hargreeves as ghosts in the apocalypse with five” or something like that i’m going to scream
this is SUPER long so i’m putting it under the cut hfkjsd
pre-five: the hargreeves siblings are dead. wait i feel a drabble coming on ooh
The Hargreeves siblings are dead.
Ben isn’t very aware of this at first. He’s been dead since 2006 -- he’s quite used to it, by now. What he is aware of, first, is light. Blinding white light. And Vanya, in the middle of it. He doesn’t close his eyes because he can’t feel pain, but if he could he thinks she would have made him blind. There’s light, and heat, and power, and then he closes his eyes anyway because the ceiling is collapsing around him and it’s instinctual.
When he opens them again he sees ash. Ash -- and Klaus.
He’s gotten used to Klaus, too. Klaus has a memorable sort of face; even if he didn’t, Ben has seen it every single day for almost twenty years. He doesn’t know if it’s actually been twenty years, for him. He doesn’t know how time moves for ghosts. Klaus has assured him it moves the same as it does for the living. Ben isn’t sure Klaus, stoned out of his mind, bleeding sluggishly from his arm, knew what he was talking about.
Anyway.
Klaus.
He’s wearing the coat he’s been flaunting around for the past week. His shirt is see-through, with little stars on it, like a pale imitation of the sky. Ben remembers his pants had laces on them, he’s sure they did not a minute ago, before the brightness that threatened to wipe out his very soul -- his soul is all he has left, really. His gaze drifts down anyway, to check.
Yes. Klaus’ pants have laces up the sides.
“No,” Ben says. Klaus is laying in a heap on the ground, his fingers curled like his tendons have been cut.
His lips feel numb because they always feel numb. Because Ben can’t feel at all. He takes a step. “No,” he says again, louder, surer. “No!”
Klaus looks up at him. His makeup is smudged, like it tends to be. His lips are bitten raw, like they tend to be. His hair is a mess, like it tends to be, and like it will be, always, because Klaus isn’t breathing.
Klaus is lying in a heap on the ground. Klaus is standing above his own body. Klaus is reaching for Ben like he’s hoping to touch him for the first time in years. Just when Klaus’ cold, dead, fingers brush his face, a voice from behind says, so quietly, dripping with disbelief: “Ben?”
Ben shuts his eyes and wishes desperately he could cry.
He feels a hand on his shoulder, for the first time in so, so long, but he also doesn’t feel it at all. He feels-but-doesn’t-feel someone turn him around, until they are saying, “Ben? Ben!” and he has no choice but to open his eyes and face the music.
Diego is gripping his shoulders like he is a dying man and Ben is the answer. Behind him, Luther and Allison watch them, stunned silent. Allison’s hands are pressed to her mouth. She looks like she wants to cry.
And Vanya. Little Vanya, painted white. Her head is hung as her shoulders shake with the weight of the destruction she has so inevitably caused. (Ben would say he always knew she was destined for great things -- but he can’t, because he didn’t.) (Nobody ever said great things had to be good.)
The Hargreeves siblings are dead. Their bodies are strewn across what is left of their childhood home, smouldering and burning, and Ben is very aware of that fact.
righto anyway. so they have an emotional reunion but its also kind of bitter? id have to actually write this for it to make sense so lets skip it for now lol
five shows up
he cannot see them obviously bc theyre all ghosts
god if i did write this it would be such a monster of a fic and would take me like 2 years to finish i already know fhkjdsk
somehow ?? they manage to influence the world around them maybe? idk maybe now that klaus is dead hes sober
or maybe hes high for all eternity?
for the purposes of this au lets say he died sober or in the late stages of withdrawal, and bc ghosts cant feel pain in action hes sober
so EVENTUALLY they figure out how to corporealize bc klaus is like blam wham ghost powers
asdlfk that sounds so stupid im sorry
he would say that tho imho,,, it sounds like something hed say,,,
if i DID write this it would be alternating povs also,,,
ok so out of all of them klaus and ben have the most experience homeless
and while being stuck in an apocalypse is not at all the same thing as being homeless it does help to have some knowledge
five doesnt eat the twinkie!! good for him
dammit okay. theres 2 options we can take here. in the comics five couldnt get back bc he fucked up his math and spent 15 years doing the wrong thing, but if u apply that here, with 6 other ppl checking his work this could be avoided and they end up skipping the whole assassin shtick and just hopping straight back to 2019, ready to prevent the apocalypse
OR five still gets hired for the commission but the sibs are tagging along
i think bc five isnt completely alone in this au unfortunately dolores doesnt exist :((
for each other the 2 paths tho theres also options?? bc they (ghosts) can go back in time and inhabit their past selves bodies? OR they could just,,, cease to exist
IM JUST NOW REALIZING HOW MANY PATHS THIS COULD TAKE,, AAH FUCK
okay gonna split this into parts. this is gonna be so long brace yourselves.
1) they go back in time because math checking and the ghosts swap out for their past selves
after multiple years of being stuck in an apocalypse together i think they would learn to get along with each other. like at least a little bit
which would make it easier for them to prevent the apocalypse
bc theyd:
trust each other more
already know abt the apocalypse and not have to wait for five to grace them all with his knowledge
are working as a team from the very beginning
have open lines of communication
yeah uh. so there
vanya is also already aware of her powers so the whole harold goading her into turning against her family and snapping to wipe out all life on earth thing? yeah that doesnt happen
oh and harold wouldn’t know how to do that in the first place because klaus wouldn’t throw out reggie’s journal! this solves so many problems wtf
there’s still commission issues bc they (and by they i mean five) are on the commission’s radar
so there’s still dope fight scenes sdlkfd pinky promise
okay idk. they stop the apocalypse and everything is okay the end hfkjd
2) they fix the math but only five can go back and the ghosts cease to exist
this is just sad! it would be sad okay! im sad! lets move on
subset of the past one: ben CAN go back with five because he was already dead and time travel affects them differently or something idk
aaaaaa
five & ben dynamic duo would be dope as shit BUT five would not be able to see him... so they use klaus as a middleman fjsdsfd
is there 2 bens? is one ben deleted in favor of the time-traveling ben? i dont know! i dont know my brain is melting
either way shit is happening yall!! obviously klaus is clued in, directly or indirectly it doesnt matter but he is on board the ‘don’t let the entire world end in flames’ train
3) they join the commission and then when five goes back in time they all go back
this is fun because now five is a highly trained assassin who is also lowkey a complete marshmallow for his siblings and once again TEAMWORK WOO
basically the first path but now five has a gun fhsdjk
4) they join the commission but five has to leave them behind and they cease to exist
five with a gun but hes sad now
i didnt go into how much losing his siblings would suck in the prev path but like. it would suck so much. he’s already lost them once if you think about it when he time traveled the first time and yeah he found the adult ghost versions but,, its different
and now suddenly hes stuck with these strange adult versions of the people he knows and he KNOWS them but also he doesnt? at all? they dont have all the years of shared experiences together? and theyre all grown up from the first ‘set’ of siblings he had which for five was like 40+ years ago??
SCREAMS
i have losing my mind disease (self-diagnosed)
subset: five has to leave them behind but they still exist because the commission is out-of-time kind of? idk but they’re still floating around somewhere and come back to impact the plot later or something
yeah idk. literally just wrote them down bc i didnt want them to die^2 hfkjwehd
subset: they still exist but instead of being just Somewhere they’re specifically at the assassination of JFK onwards because thats where five left them and they either go on ghosting and make an appearance in s2 OR they cease because them-wise they havent died yet but that doesnt make sense because ghosts can time travel so nevermind
i dont have the brain energy left to explore this one aaaa
okay jesus christ i think that’s all
I DON’T KNOW. i don’t know. i might write some more of this because honestly it is a very fine flavor of angst + hurt/comfort <3

part two
Paring:Five x Reader
Summary: you absloutely adore the hargreeve siblings. Well, except for Five he hates you for no reason. But it all changes when the commission attacks. After an awful fight, five ends up taking care of you only then do you realise that he's in love with you.
Quick note: you are both 16.
"JEFF? Jeffery, please if you can hear me make a sound!" Five yelled at the empty appartment, frantically looking for your uncle. If they wanted you to get to him then they wouldn't need your uncle and if they don't then he's probably injured or worse...
Five jumps from one to another, searching for any sign of Jeff. Finally, he found him on the ground in a puddle of his own blood, five put his hand on the man's neck, weak pulse. Five called an ambulance. And so far, looking for Jeffery was the only thing keeping him from worrying about you to death.
30 minutes later, all Hrgreeve siblings were with Jeff in the hospital and luther was at your place bringing some papers the hospital need for Jeff. Five left his siblings, saying something about needing fresh air, five was finally alone with his thoughts.he was pacing back and forth infront of the hospital's main entrance, He was on the verge of panicking..
We don't know if Jeff is going to make it or not. What if he doesn't, what if died just because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. What happens to y/n then? Y/n...
Five jolted at the thought of you his panic was consuming him.
What if she doesn't make it? What if we were too late? What if she dies because of me? Because I couldn't man up and tell her I love her?
At this point his breathing was unsteady and shallow, his chest tightening and he was sweating dispite the cold wheather. He felt like he was going to pass out. He sank to knees.
"Five!" Called allison, who knelt beside him in the mud, putting both arms around him.
"What if she doesn't make it?" He lifted his head to hers and asked
"No, five, don't think like that. Y/n is a strong girl. She can handle herself just alittle longer." She tightened her grip on her brother. "You love her, don't you?"
" you have no idea how much" he whispered. A few minutes passed in silence." And Allison"
"Yeah?"
"If you breathe a word of this, I'll murder you"
Jeff was announced alive but in a comma, so it ws decided that Vanya should stay with him in case he wakes up while they find y/n.
Lila came in just a few minutes before Allison and Five came to ask about Jeff.
When Five saw Lila, he asked Diego "what is she doing here?"
"I told her to come." Said Diego
" seriously, Diego, calling the handler's daughter? Again?"Then he turned to Lila "where is she?"
"I really don't know what you're talking about."
"Y/n, your mom's pets took her and she wants us all dead so, where is she?
"What? Look, I really have no idea ehat you're talking about but I might have an idea where they might be keeping here."
------------------------------------------------------
You woke up tied to a wooden chair. Wrists tied together behind your back and ankles to the wooden legs of the chair and your chest to the back of the chair. Your first instinct was to free yourself but everytime you moved you felt the rope tighten more which made you panic and move even more.
"Oh no, sweetie, I wouldn't do that if I were you. The rope tightens with every move."said the Handler with a smile on her face.
But you didn't stop even though your chest was tightening so much that you started taking shallow breaths.
"You should sit still before you stop breathing."
"What you want?" You hissed
"I have an offer. You can work with me."
"Why on earth would I do that!?"
"You get to keep your life and possibly save your little friends" she said it like she were doing you a favor.
"Well, if I remember correctly, you don't get to choose who lives and who dies."
"You listen closely, because of you little physcos with your powers, I can't get anything done with you constantly ruining the timeline."
You tried to move and heard a tiny crack from your ribs." No you listen here, you piece of shit. I will Never work for you. I'd rather die."
Pain was increasing with every breath as your chest tightened and threatened to swallow you whole.
"You have 24 hrs, I know you'll come around."
At this point you thought you were slowly dying. Breathing was so hard that you started moving more to free yourself but only heard a louder crack in your ribcage as the darkness took you away.
__________________________________________
24 hrs later, the Handler had you in the chair again.
"I hope you had time to think." Said the Handler "what's it gonna be, sweetie?"
"No freaking way."
"Fine. You asked for it." She turned to a man with a syringe with some blue liquid.
This time you tried to stay still and show no sign of fear. Mainly because if you moved you'll breack more ribs. The man injected it into your neck and at first all you saw was figures...
Slowly they started to turn to people then you saw faces.. klaus, allison, luther, vanya, diego and five. They were arguing about something then Luther pulled out his gun and shot each and everyone of them. With you desperately begging him to stop, telling them it's going to be okay... and the nightmares start all over again and again and again and again with different scenarios but always end with all of them dead. Only this time you were awake and you can't stop them.
"Put her back in the chamber."
You don't know where the nightmares end and reality starts you no longer know if they're even alive. You realize that you are now shackled to the wall from both wrists and ankles with iron shackles. You stand and then try to superspeed to the other side of the room maybe that can break it but it only elecrocuted you. Now that's new you think to yourself. Electrified shackles so I can't try to break it?
You couldn't take it anymore, you don't know if anyone who care about or even know is alive and you can't even move. You wanted someone, anyone to get you out of here. You realized you've been crying and you put your head down on the cold cement floor and sleep.
__________________________________________
"Y/n?" Five said moving closer to you
"No, please" you plead and cover your faces before you witness his death again
Five stood where he was, concerned. "What have they done to you?"
"Is that really you?"
"Of course that's really me" he said annoyed then his features softened "yes it's really me." He kneeled on the ground trying to get closer but you wouldn't let him. You were hyperventilating. "Hey," he said softly "I can get you out of here, I promise just let me help you." He pleaded.
You took a good look at him but made no inclination that allowed him to get closer.
"Will you please let me help you."
Slowly you nodded. He got up and started walking towards you, but he didn't jump knowing that it might get you rattled again. He kneeled down beside you and took one of your hands in his. He saw how red and bruised your wrist was and tried to claw at it. "No, don't!" But he was too litte. The shackle gave a shock that went through the two of you causing him to jerk away.
"I'm so sorry." He said, "wait here, I have an idea." He jumped and reappeared a few minutes later with an axe. And with four swift blows, he broke the iron chain tying the shackled y/n to a wall. He held your hand "Are you ready?" He asked before jumping the two of you out into a corridor where gunshots were being fired nearby. The rest were trying to keep the commission agents busy and Lila was getting the keys to the shackles from the Handler's office.
"Why are you in such a rush to leave. I wasn't done, yet" said the Handler coming out of a room. Five stood infront of you shielding you from her view. "If I see you again, I will kill you." He snarled at her.
The handler smiled at him and pressed a button on a small device sending a wave of shocks through your body, the pain was too much that darkness swallowed you in seconds.
Five almost touched you but you body was still crackling with electricty. The minute it died out he reached for you. Your nose and ears were bleeding. He carried you in his arms as Lila came running out of an office but, stopped in her tracks at the sight of her mother. She looked at the Handler, five then you in his arms. She threw the keychain his direction and said," go, I'll deal with her." With that Five caught the keys and jump you into his room back at the academy.
__________________________________________
Five woke you up, you were in his bed. "Hey, you need to wake up the commission is here. We need to go." You tried to get up but was held on by an invisible force. Someone appeared at the door and shot him then shot you. You scream five's name-
"Hey, shhhh. I'm here. I'm here. It's okay, you were only dreaming." Said five softly. Your breathing was a little unsteady. You try to sit up but your chest feels like it's on fire. You lay back down. "You should really rest. You have 3 broken ribs. I'll go make you breakfast."
"Since when do you care?" You ask
Five draws in a breath and moves away from the bed, rubbing his forehead. He seemed at loss for words. "Listen, I'm so sorry-"
"Is it Jeff? Are you being nice to me because something happened? Is he.." tears started to well up in your eyes.
"What? No. No. He's fine. He's just ,um , he's just in a comma."
"This is because of me, isn't it? Because they were looking for me?" You burst into tears. "I really am dangerous to the people around me. Mom wasn't so wrong after all. I'm a curse."
"No, that's not your fault. It's mine. They were doing this to get to me. I'm so sorry."
"I want to see him. Take me to him. please."
"Yes. I'll take you there. Just let me make you breakfast first okay?"
"Why do you suddenly care so much?"
He started to pace back and forth, rubbing his forehead more frequently. He was nervous.
"I'm so sorry about what I said the other day. Acutally, I'm sorry for being so awful to you. God, I hate being vunerable. It makes me so weak."
"It makes you human" you corrected.
"You just say how you feel and it's so easy but I.....It was easier pushing you away than telling you how I feel. I'm sorry."
"sit down." You pat the spot next you on the bed. He does.
"Truth is.. y/n Y/L/N, I love you. I've always loved you with every fiber of my being. "
You didn't say anything you just stared at his beautiful blue eyes.
"Um, it's okay if you uh don't say anything. I just-"
You struggled alittle the bandages and pain but eventually sat up. He tried to help you up but you hold up your hand. Then you lean in and kissed him. "I love you, too, five hargreeves." You whisper as he kissed you back. "Will you let me make you breakfast?" You nodded.
"Okay, don't go anywhere, I'll be back."
A few minutes passed and he came back with eggs and coffee. You ate it impatiently.
"This is really good but I need to see my uncle."
"Yes. Yes of course."
You insisted on looking your best so when Jeff sees you, he doesn't worry about you. You went to shower but Five insisted he waits on the other side of the door. And would knock every five minutes to make sure you're okay. He brought you a fresh change of clothes and helped you with the bandages.
Five jumped the two of you to the hospital and sat with you all day by Jeff's bedside. You decided to sleep there because you wanted to be there when Jeff woke up and Five insisted he'd stay too. The next few days you'd both stay at the hospital and go home to shower or change and come back. And everytime you had a nightmare, Five would wake you up and hold you until you can sleep again.
When Jeff woke up, Five was getting the two of you coffee. "I'm sorry you had to go through this because of me." you say "If you want to uh put me up for adoption, I would understand." You say tears in your eyes.
"No. No. I would never. Sweetheart, you mean the world to me. I won't ever give up on you. "
At this you cried ,happy tears. Jeff chose to stick with you even when your mom didn't.
Five opened the door saw you crying and jeff's eyes glassy and walked right back out.
This moment, this exact moment was when you finally felt like you really belong to this messy, cruel world that has little miracles. That was when you felt that you felt connected to this world, connected to five and his siblings, to Jeff , to the commission, to everything.
You left Your uncle to sleep and joined Five outside. "What if the commission come again?"you ask suddenly
"Let them come, we'll be ready for them." Said Five "but until then, let me take you out on a date."
You smiled at five then kissed him.
The end

5 times Klaus regretted wearing a skirt +1 time he didn’t
1.
Considering he was a child soldier who heard the screams of the dead, being queer was not the strangest thing about Klaus Hargreeves by a long shot. Still, he wasn’t quite sure what to think when he started liking boys as well as girls (and everyone in-between) at age eight. Or when he realized he wasn’t quite a boy a year later.
He knew not to tell anyone. That was the last thing this family needed. Besides, Klaus already felt so isolated from his siblings, he knew being ‘the gay one’ wouldn’t help matters. So, he kept to himself, and occasionally he’d find ghosts who were nice enough to talk to about things. There was one ghost in particular who he enjoyed to talk about boys with- a blond soldier, who told Klaus that he was also gay.
Once when he was nine, Klaus met a ghost who looked like a woman, but talked like a man. They told Klaus they were what was called a drag queen. Klaus’ eyes lit up as the ghost talked to him of dressing up in skirts and makeup. He was so entranced by it all that he could nearly ignore the gruesome strangle marks and bruises around the ghost’s neck.
That night, while Allison was off in the attic with Luther, Klaus snuck into his sister’s room and picked out her nicest skirt. He ran back to his room and locked the door behind him, ignoring the dead around him.
Klaus looked in the mirror on the back of his door as he put the skirt on. Smiling, he twirled around a few times and watched the pink fabric spin with him. He liked this. It was loads better than the stupid outfits his dad made him wear.
He was so caught up in his happiness that he didn’t notice the door was opening until it hit him in the face.
“Klaus! Oh my gosh, are you okay?” He heard his sister’s voice from the ground he’d been knocked to.
“What are you wearing?” Luther’s voice this time, a little behind Allison.
Klaus sat up tentatively and wrapped his arms around his knees. “Nothing?”
Allison glared at him. “You stole my skirt!”
Klaus jumped up and took the skirt off, disappointed to remember how he looked with just jeans on. “I only borrowed it! For a bit!”
Allison said nothing, just snatched the skirt back from him and looked it over as if to make sure Klaus hadn’t ruined it for the two minutes he’d had it.
“Why’d you even want to wear that?” Luther asks. “You’re not a girl.”
Klaus knew his brother didn’t mean for the words to hurt, but they did. A lot.
He shrugged, not making eye contact. “Dunno. Wanted to see what I looked like.”
Luther just looked confused. Allison rolled her eyes. “You’re so weird, Klaus.”
They left his room, leaving the door open. Klaus could smell his father’s cigarette smoke coming up from downstairs, and for what wasn’t the first time, he wanted more of that smell.
2.
It took three years, but Klaus finally got his sister to let him borrow her skirt. He hadn’t asked for a while after the last time because of how badly it had gone, but he couldn’t stop thinking about how he looked while wearing it. And how he felt while wearing it. Klaus wanted to feel like that more.
So he’d started to butter up Allison- mostly by letting her use him as a test subject for all her makeup. Klaus did genuinely enjoy that, though. It gave him more time with his sister, time he’d never had before, and on the rare occasions Allison didn’t screw up and leave him looking like a reject clown, he loved how it felt to wear makeup and have painted nails.
Klaus finally felt brave enough to make his skirt request one day when Allison had just finished painting his nails a dark blue.
“These match perfectly with that skirt of yours, Al.” He said, nodding toward the where said skirt was hanging in the open closet.
Allison gasped a little. “They do! You should put the skirt on!”
Klaus resisted the urge to pump his fist. “Are you sure you’re okay with that?”
Allison nodded eagerly, jumping off the bed to grab the skirt. “Of course!”
Klaus smiled, gladly taking the skirt from her and putting it on. It was long, meant to be floor length, and it nearly went down to his feet (he was a lot taller than Allison). The fabric was shiny and swishy and Klaus couldn’t stop twirling.
Allison clapped her hands suddenly. “Ooo! I just remembered something!” She grabbed her brother’s hand and started to drag him out of her room.
“What?” Klaus was curious, but wasn’t sure he wanted the rest of the family to see him in the skirt. Dad was in his office, though, and Klaus supposed everyone else would be fine with it. So he let his curiosity get the better of him.
“I think I’ve seen Mom wear heels that are the same color as the skirt!” Allison was leading Klaus’ towards their mother’s closet. He had to admit, heels sounded very exciting.
“They should be around here somewhere…” Allison muttered, tossing other shoes out of her way in search for this specific pair. “Oh! Here!”
She turned and presented her brother with a pair of stilettos that sure enough, matched his skirt and nails. Klaus grabbed them and put them on.
He promptly fell against the doorframe. “Shit!”
Allison laughed, taking hold of his arm and leading him out of the room. Slowly, Klaus sort of got the hang of walking.
“Christ, these are hard to move in!” He shakily let go of Allison’s arm, but he kept his own extended for balance.
“They’re not that bad once you get used to it. I borrow Mom’s heels all the time just to practice walking around in them.”
“Why in the world would you do that?”
Allison shrugged. “If I’m gonna be a famous movie star, I should know how to wear high heels.”
Klaus smirked. “Right, of course, how could I forget about your Hollywood plans.” He put on a high-pitched voice, “Look out world, I’m Allison Hargreeves!”
Allison slapped him, nearly causing him to fall again. “Just for that, I’m making you walk all the way downstairs to show Vanya your outfit.” She began to move down the staircase they had found themselves at the top of.
Klaus took this as a challenge. “Oh, you think I can’t go downstairs in these shoes? I bet you I can run downstairs in them.”
“Klaus, that doesn’t sound like a good idea-”
He ignored her and took off. “Vanya!” The more people around to watch him beat Allison at something, the better.
Surprisingly, Klaus made it almost halfway down before something went wrong. He saw that his shoe was caught in the skirt, but not in time to stop it.
“Klaus!” He heard Allison cry from above him as he crashed down the rest of the stairs, hearing the fabric of the skirt rip.
Jesus Christ, his mouth hurt.
Vanya and Allison reached him at the same time, and they worked together to pull him up from the floor.
“God, Klaus, you’re bleeding.”
Klaus spit out some blood and attempted to talk. “No shit.”
His brothers all came running, having heard the fall from where they were training. Ben immediately crouched in front of Klaus and examined him with concern.
“Dude, what did you do?!” Diego exclaimed.
Klaus tried to talk again, but it hurt too much. Allison answered for him. “He tripped while running down the stairs. Which I very clearly told him not to do…” She pointedly added, staring at Klaus, who spit blood at her and enjoyed watching her jump back with a shriek.
“I think you broke your jaw.” Five said with shockingly little sympathy in his voice. “I’m going to go get Mom, she’ll know how to help.”
“You know, you shouldn’t have worn those heels. Something like this was bound to happen.”
“Gee thanks, Luther, I hadn’t thought of that!” Klaus managed to speak. Damn, it hurt to be sarcastic.
“...Or the skirt.” Luther said, trying like always to get the last word in.
“Yeah, okay, I got it!” Klaus spat, raising his voice a little. It was the last he would speak for eight weeks, but at least Luther didn’t get the last word.
3.
“Bennnnn!!!” Klaus hollered, knowing his brother was downstairs, but too high to be bothered to move.
He lay his head on his bed, waiting to see if Ben had heard him. Judging by the footsteps coming up the stairs and the annoyed mumbling, he had.
“What?” Ben said, opening the door. He clearly wasn’t in the mood for Klaus’ bullshit, but Klaus had his mind set on something and he needed his brother to do it.
“I…” Klaus sat up shakily, gesturing at himself with a flourish, “am going to come out to Dad.”
Ben’s eyes widened and he moved fully into the room, closing the door behind him. “You’re… you are? Really? Now? Are you sure?”
Klaus lit a cigarette. “Yeah! Why not?!”
“I can think of plenty of reasons why you shouldn’t, the most notable being our father isn’t exactly warm and cuddly, and I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Awww,” Klaus batted his eyes at Ben. “You’re so sweet. But I’m fine. The guy has hurt me enough, I can deal with a little more. Plus, he already hates me for the drugs and shit, so this can’t make things all that much worse.”
Ben bit his lip and looked nervously at his brother. “If you’re sure, there’s nothing I can do to stop you. But you have to be careful.”
Klaus put an arm around Ben. “I am fifteen, now, brother, and I have lots of money that I’ve acquired through all sorts of legal means. Plus, Pops still needs me for missions and publicity stuff. And we all know I’m the pretty one, so he can’t fuck me up too bad.”
Ben laughed a bit. “Right. You’re the pretty one.” He stood, ignoring his brother’s offended gasp.
“So. How are you gonna do it? Sit the whole family down for a chat?”
Klaus looked disgusted. “Hell no, that’s way too fancy. Plus I’m pretty sure everyone already knows, even though I’ve only officially told you and Diego so far. I’m probably just gonna dress up all feminine, go downstairs, and improvise.”
“As far as plans go, that’s about a three out of ten.” Ben remarked.
Klaus stood, throwing his extinguished cigarette aside. “Sounds good to me!”
Ben sighs. “What do you need me for? I mean, I’m glad you told me about this, but please tell me I’m not directly involved with your shitty plan.”
“I need you, brother dearest, to raid Allison’s room.”
Ben just stares at him. “No.”
“Come on! I gotta get femme stuff, and I haven’t bought any myself yet. And we both know Vanya doesn’t have any. I just need a skirt, a cute top, and some makeup.”
“And why can’t you acquire these things yourself?” Ben crosses his arms.
“Because she’s sick of me doing that, and she’ll get mad. But you’ve been elected Nicest Hargreeves, and she’ll never get pissed at you.”
Ben didn’t comment for a while, just stared at Klaus. Klaus thinks something about his whole sad, broken, victorian boy aesthetic must have convinced Ben, because the next thing his brother says is, “Fine.”
***
Half an hour later, Klaus is dressed in a sparkly pink skirt, a white crop top, and insane amounts of makeup.
“You look pretty.” Allison smiles. Ben ended up having to fill her in on what was happening, but she was more than supportive. She just wanted to make sure her brother didn’t ruin her clothes again.
“Thanks, Al.” Klaus did love how he looked, but he was too nervous to appreciate it fully. His high had worn off and now he has no idea what made him think this was a good idea in the first place.
“Alright, you ready?” Ben asks.
Klaus takes a deep breath. He looks at his brother and sister, smiling at him. His gaze sweeps over the corpses starting to reappear now that the drugs are wearing off.
He makes eye contact with one of them, one he hasn’t seen in years, since the first time he wore Allison’s skirt all those years ago.
The blond soldier smiles at him kindly, with what appear to be tears in his eyes. He says something that Klaus can’t quite hear from across the room, but it looks like he says ‘you’ve got this, soldier.’
“Number four!” Klaus hears Reginald call from the library. He flinches, but reminds himself that the disdain in his father’s voice has nothing to do with the way he’s dressed- not yet, anyway.
He turns and looks at where Ben and Allison are huddled at the foot of the staircase. Ben gives him a thumbs up and Klaus walks into the library.
“Yes?” Klaus responds, a cheeky tone in his voice that’s hopefully hiding the fear that’s hidden there.
Reginald turns to look at him, and Klaus nearly passes out in the seconds it takes for his father to scan him up and down.
“What on earth are you wearing!?”
Klaus does a little twirl, “a skirt. Among other things.” He thinks if he dissociates himself from the conversation and just lets his instinct take over, it won’t be quite as scary.
“You can’t be wearing that.” Reginald replies instantly.
“Why not? I think I look quite dashing.”
“You’re a boy! It makes you look very queer, and that’s the last thing your reputation needs.”
Klaus resists the urge to look at his siblings again for encouragement. This moment is entirely yours, Hargreeves. They can’t help you now.
“But I am! Queer, that is. Not quite a boy.”
Klaus feels a hand connect sharply with his face.
It would hurt more if that same hand hadn’t hurt him loads of times before.
His father is still talking, still yelling, still hitting him. Klaus ignores him. He wants out of this skirt.
4.
When Reginald didn’t accompany his children on missions, there were a few things that changed. Diego didn’t stutter as much, for one. And Ben wasn’t forced to kill quite as many people. Allison’s rumors weren’t quite as harsh, and Luther didn’t hit the bad guys quite as hard. They still got the job done- they were The Umbrella Academy, and even though they were getting older, they had a reputation to maintain- but they weren’t nearly as violent without their father there, encouraging them to hurt more people.
As for Klaus, when he went on missions without dear old Dad, he wore and did whatever the fuck he wanted. He knew as well as all of his siblings that he wasn’t in any way helpful to missions unless somehow the job getting done required communication with ghosts. (And even if it did, Klaus would almost definitely be too drunk or high to talk to the dead.) So it had been unofficially decided that when Reggie let the kids do missions on their own, Klaus didn’t really do anything unless completely necessary, and they were all fine with that.
Klaus still enjoyed tagging along on missions, though. He knew damn well that he was still a fan favorite, so to say. He was inexplicably more charming than any of his brothers, so interviews were mostly comprised of him and Allison being endearing and the rest of the siblings standing there looking tough. Today’s mission, Klaus was feeling bold enough to wear a skirt- one that actually belonged to him this time! Allison had bought it for him at their last birthday, and though she claimed to only be doing it so he wouldn’t keep stealing hers, it was a very sweet gift and Klaus was excited to finally wear it during a mission.
The job was taking longer than it normally would, and Klaus was passing the time by making out with a very cute boy he saw watching him in the crowd. Klaus didn’t particularly want to hook up with his fans, but anyone that actually knew him was too repulsed by what they saw to want to be close to him, so he took what he could get.
Eventually his siblings finished whatever they’d been doing, and Klaus was interrupted by a smack on his back.
“Come on lover boy, we gotta go.” Diego said.
“Fine,” Klaus whined. He took a pen from the boy’s pocket and scrawled his number on his arm. “Call me.” He winked and let Diego drag him away while rolling his eyes.
It wasn’t until they got home that Klaus realized the consequences of what he’d been doing.
The moment they walked in the door, Vanya was waiting there to greet them- which was odd, usually she was holed up practicing her violin.
“Klaus!” She said, sounding panicked, grabbing her brother’s arm before he could walk past her like he was going to.
“Uh… hi Vanny?” Klaus was unclear on what was happening.
“Did you intend to come out on national tv?”
“I’m sorry, did I what?!”
“Come here!” Vanya kept a hold of Klaus’ arm and dragged him towards the nearest tv, the other siblings trailing behind them with concern.
Klaus had no idea what his sister was talking about. He was a bit scared, very confused, and also in no way surprised if Vanya was right and he had accidentally come out on national tv. That is one hundred percent on brand for Klaus Hargreeves.
Sure enough, when they got to the tv, a news reporter was talking over a blurry photo of Klaus kissing the boy from the mission. The headline at the bottom of the screen read Umbrella Academy’s Klaus Hargreeves Secretly Gay?
No one says anything for a minute as they all listen to the reporter talk. Finally, Klaus says, “I didn’t think I was keeping it a secret.”
Ben laughs weakly beside him. “Yeah, guess the public just has a terrible gaydar.”
“Dad’s gonna kill you.” Diego whispers, getting a grunt of agreement from Luther.
“Probably.” Klaus agrees, still staring at the screen where the reporter was now discussing/judging Klaus’ choice of clothing. “I feel bad for the kid, I hope they don’t identify him.”
“The kid?” Allison remarks from behind Klaus. “Jesus, Klaus, do you not even know the name of the guy?”
“Didn’t cross my mind to ask.” Klaus responds, ignoring the sounds of horror from his siblings. “Vanya, where’s Dad?”
Vanya jumped a bit at her name. “Uh, I think he’s in his office. Do you want me to get him, or…”
“Hell no!” Klaus scoffed. He did not want to face his father about this. They had just gotten to a point where Reginald wasn’t constantly murdering Klaus with his stare for the first time since Klaus came out to him. But his Dad was definitely not going to love this latest development, since he had made it very clear that he didn’t want the world to know that Klaus was pan and non-binary.
Klaus turned to leave, avoiding his siblings’ disappointed and judgmental looks. “I’m gonna go smoke.” He muttered.
Klaus tried to pretend he wasn’t bothered by what they were saying about him. And he did a pretty good job of it, at least in front of his family. But that night, alone in his room, he broke down. His father hadn’t come out of his office the rest of the day, and Klaus was terrified. He opened up his old laptop and went to the ‘trending’ section of the news. Among articles about some political debate and what type of lettuce was safe to eat, his face was scattered. He clicked on a handful of the articles.
Klaus Hargreeves rumored to be gay.
The Seance caught kissing a boy!
Sorry girls! Looks like national heartthrob Klaus Hargreeves isn’t one for women.
Number Four, the Seance, seen wearing a skirt.
Klaus rolled his eyes at some of the headlines. He really didn’t want to make any sort of public statement on this whole disaster, but he would very much like to clear things up and make it crystal clear that he is ‘one for women’, thank you very much.
Not all the articles are that bad. They’re all somewhat insensitive, considering they’re all making assumptions about Klaus based off of one blurry photo, but some are decently respectful. Of course, Klaus only focuses on the ones that aren’t.
One of the Umbrella Academy members found to be a queer.
Seems to me that a lot of people are no longer going to have a favorite member of the Umbrella Academy.
The Seance may be able to speak to the dead, but he can not pull off a skirt.
Klaus Hargreeves should stick to talking to ghosts from now on.
Klaus reads them all in his father’s voice.
Abruptly, he jumps of his bed and rips off his skirt, throwing it across the room. He lets out a cry of frustration.
Klaus spends the rest of the night doing dangerous amounts of drugs and drinking every last bit of alcohol he had stored in his room. The last thing he remembers seeing before he passes out is the ghost of the blond soldier watching him with concern from the corner of the room.
5.
It took him 26 years, but Klaus Hargreeves was finally trying to pull his shit together. Well, more accurately- it took Ben Hargreeves 26 years to convince his brother to pull his shit together.
Klaus had woken up in the back room of some bar/drug den, mostly naked with random people laying next to him.
His brother stood above him offering a condescending hand to Klaus, since he knew Klaus couldn’t actually touch him.
“Hey there. Your head hurt?”
Klaus tried very hard not to rub his throbbing head, as to not prove Ben right. “Christ, don’t you ever go away? There’s no way I’m sober right now, so why the fuck are you still bothering me?”
Klaus knew why, and Ben knew he knew why. And somewhere, deep down, Klaus was glad Ben didn’t leave. He was glad there was always someone there when he hit rock bottom over and over again. But Ben was also really bloody annoying, always telling Klaus to ‘eat a vegetable’ or ‘take a shower’. Stupid stuff like that.
“Klaus, why do you do this?” Ben asked suddenly, as Klaus was stumbling up off the floor.
“Do what?”
“You know what. All of this. Drugs, booze, hooking up with random strangers and then never seeing them again, living on the streets, the list goes on and on.”
“Ben, are you really still asking me this? You’d think after twelve years of it, you would stop trying to get me to give up all my lovable quirks.”
“They’re not lovable quirks!” Ben snapped, even though he knew his brother was only joking and embellishing his words like always. “They’re… they’re terrible, awful things you do to yourself and I am the only person who’s stuck with you through it all because you’ve pushed away everyone else, and do you know how hard it is that you don’t listen to me? That I have to watch you live your life- something that I didn’t get to do- so dangerously, so irresponsibly, like you don’t even care whether you live or die!”
“Well, maybe I don’t!”
Ben’s face softened. “Klaus” He took a deep breath and started again. “Klaus, I know it’s hard. I know our childhood was shit, and our dad was abusive as all hell, and the ghosts are unbearable. I know all that. But it could all be so much better if you tried a little bit. If you sobered up enough to get a job, so you could get money, so you could an apartment. Klaus, I don’t care if you buy the shittiest, most rundown apartment in the whole city- I will cry tears of joy if you have a place to live for once. Or... or you could do what Diego does! You could work for someone in exchange to live with them. Speaking of Diego, what about trying to live with him? You know he loves you like crazy, even though he doesn’t act like it. Talk to him, talk to Allison for god’s sake, she’s filthy rich and I’m sure she’d give you money. You don’t have to isolate yourself from your family! God, I don’t understand why you all pushed each other away! Do you know how much I would give to be alive with all of you right now?! Why don’t any of you appreciate this life that you have! Klaus, you have no fucking idea how terrible it is to be dead and watch the people you love throw away their life!”
Klaus didn’t know ghosts could cry.
He watched in horror as his brother curled up on the floor, wiping away tears. Ben looked so small, like he was as young as he was when he was alive. Klaus blinked and saw their father standing over Ben, yelling at him for not trying hard enough. He blinked again and saw an eight-year-old Ben, sobbing on the floor of a bank after murdering a group of people for the first time. He saw every other time he walked into Ben’s room and saw him doing that after a mission- too many times for Klaus to count.
“Okay.” He found himself saying.
Ben looked up at him, standing hesitantly. “Okay… what?”
“I’ll try to find a job.” Klaus meant it, shockingly. Ben was right, and he knew it. He didn’t like it, but he needed to do something to thank Ben for sticking with him.
The look on Ben’s face made it all worth it.
***
“Bennn why is finding a job so hard?”
“Klaus, we’ve been looking for thirty minutes. That’s nothing. And I still think we should go see Diego or Vanya or someone with a computer so you can research places to work, not just wander around until you find something.”
“No, no, nope. I am being nice and doing something for you, but I promise you that by the time this hangover wears off, I will have lost all motivation to do so. We gotta get me some paperwork or shit so I’ll be legally obligated to not back out of this.”
“When has the law ever stopped you?”
Klaus glared at his brother. “Giving up on this now…”
“You’re right, you’re right. I’m very proud of you. Let’s keep looking.” Ben reached out like he was going to pat Klaus’ shoulder, but stopped. Even after Ben being dead for nearly ten years, both brothers forgot sometimes that they couldn’t touch. Klaus would never admit it, but he would give anything to hug Ben again.
They walked in silence for a few minutes, the mood brought down by the cruel reminder of Ben’s death.
“Oh! Klaus!” Ben said suddenly, pointing at the window they were passing. Klaus followed his brother’s finger and saw the Help Wanted sign.
“Well that looks promising…” Klaus wandered over to see what the store was. “Goodwin Hardware… a hardware store? That’s so boring!”
“Come on, it’s the only place we’ve found. And at least there’s sharp objects you can play with!” Ben pleaded.
“Okay, calm down there Diego, I’m still going to check it out.” Klaus used the window as a mirror, adjusting his hair and overall trying to make himself a little less disheveled. He was wearing a blue button up and a silver skirt- both things he had found on the floor he woke up on, and he was pretty sure neither of them belonged to him the night before.
Klaus walked into the store, the jingle of the bell on the door nearly as loud as Ben’s gasp of excitement.
“Can I help ‘ya?” A gruff voice barked from the front counter. Klaus followed the voice to see an old white guy look up from the fishing magazine he’d been reading. Figures, Klaus thought- it was a hardware store after all, but Klaus had been hoping it was one of those cool, lesbian-owned hardware stores.
Klaus felt himself freeze up, seeing just a little too much of his father in the man’s face, but Ben whispered encouragement from behind him, and together they walked to the counter.
“Hi, yes, I was wondering about your help wanted sign? You see, I’ve recently decided to acquire a job, and this looks like a lovely place-”
“No.” The man said, returning to his magazine like the conversation was over.
“...No?” Klaus repeated.
“I don’t hire queers,” The guy glanced up again and gave Klaus a look like it should have been obvious what he was talking about.
Oh.
Klaus heard Ben mutter his name from behind him, the same disappointed tone in his voice that Klaus was used to hearing.
“Well, sir, I don’t think being gay hinders my ability to shelf tools.” Klaus bit his lip as he spoke, trying his hardest to remain polite. Do it for Ben, do it for Ben, do it for Ben-
“Listen, sissy, I told you the answer’s no. Now get out of my shop.”
Okay that was it. Klaus reached across the counter and tore the magazine from the man’s hands, throwing it behind him.
“You’re going to give me this fucking job!” Klaus hissed. He ignored the fact that Ben was telling him to stop, telling him that they would just find another opportunity.
The man grabbed Klaus by the collar and pulled him close, scraping him across the wood of the counter. Klaus flinched, being reminded once again of his dad.
“No, ‘m not. And if you know what’s good for you, you’ll get out of my store before I have to tell you a third time.”
Klaus spit in the man’s eye. A fist met his face.
He woke up in what had lovingly been dubbed “his” prison cell.
“God, my head…” He rubbed at his face, feeling a lump from where the man had hit him.
“Oh. You’re awake.” Ben said from across the room.
Klaus remembered all that had happened. (Although why he went to jail when he was the one who’d gotten hit, he wasn’t sure. Probably had something to do with the fact that his cop-in-training brother used arresting Klaus as an excuse to check up on him.)
“Ben, I’m sorry, I swear I didn’t mean to make this into a whole thing-”
“But you did! You egged that guy on when we could have just left and kept looking! Jesus, Klaus do you ever know when to stop?!” Ben rubbed his eyes and turned away from Klaus, making it clear the conversation was over and Klaus was left with a bitch of a hypothetical question.
He picked at the fraying silver of his (not his) skirt. He closed his eyes and saw a tv headline, saw his father’s hand hitting him, saw the floor fall out beneath him, saw his brother and sister’s judgmental faces.
Maybe he should stop wearing skirts.
+1.
Klaus had made a promise to himself that he would stop wearing skirts. Nothing good happened when he did. The only time he’d broken that promise since the hardware store incident was at his father’s funeral- sort of as a final fuck-you to Reginald. And hey, things couldn’t get any worse, right? At least that’s what he thought until his baby brother showed up, rambling about doomsday.
But, Klaus had made that promise in 2016. And this was 1968. So technically, Klaus hadn’t made the promise yet. Besides, this skirt was really cute.
So Klaus bought it, bullshiting some excuse about buying it to send to his little sister back home (as if Vanya would ever wear this), because as nice as the Saigon residents were, he wasn’t about to tell them he was a gay soldier sneaking away from camp with another gay soldier.
He and Dave weren’t fully sneaking around, exactly. Everyone in their unit had a break this weekend, it’s just that most of them weren’t in Saigon. Klaus wasn’t sure where they were exactly, but he knew that he and Dave weren’t in risk of being seen by anyone they knew. So they only had to worry the normal amount about being gay in the 60s! Yay!
Klaus sat waiting outside their motel room, because Dave was a sap and wanted to pretend like he was picking Klaus up for their date, even though they were staying in the same space. Not that Klaus minded- he loved that Dave was such a romantic. It was just one of the many, many things that made him different- and better- than any partners Klaus had before.
It felt wrong, comparing Dave to other partners. They weren’t even on the same plane as him. Klaus had never been with someone because he cared about them before. He’d never really been with someone at all, actually. Three weeks didn’t exactly count as a long-term relationship, especially when he was only doing it for a place to sleep. The point was, Dave was different. Dave was special. Klaus knew it from the moment he saw him. Something about him looked familiar, like Klaus had known him before in a different time.
It wasn’t like Klaus was planning on staying in the middle of a war that happened twenty years before he was even born, but he didn’t exactly have a reason to go back to 2019, either. And he realized about an hour into his time in Vietnam that he did have a reason to stay there- a blond, hot, blue-eyed, Jewish reason, to be exact. And look, it happened to work out well for Klaus (surprisingly, since things so rarely did) when a month later he learned that his reason for staying wanted him too.
Klaus was so lost in thought that he almost forgot how boring it was waiting for Dave. ...Almost.
“Hey!” He stood, rapping on the motel door. “Hurry up!” Klaus didn’t care if Dave wasn’t ready to go out yet- in fact, it was probably more fun that way.
“God, Hargreeves, don’t you have any patience?!” Dave’s voice came all the way from the far side of the room, but Klaus could still hear the affectionate tone it carried. Dave only called Klaus by his last name when he was doing so in a teasing manner. Klaus called Dave by his a lot more, ever since he learned that David Katz was allergic to cats, and he never let him live it down.
“Nope! None at all. Now c’mon, or I’m just gonna leave without you.” He wouldn’t, obviously, and Dave knew it too.
Klaus heard footsteps on the other side of the door and he had a brief moment of panic about what he was wearing. Shit, why did he break his promise? Dave had seemed fine up until now about Klaus’ gender expression and the way he dressed or wore makeup or acted feminine, but what if he really wasn’t? Klaus knew it was already hard for Dave to be comfortable in his sexuality, and he didn’t want to be the reason Dave retreated back into the closet. The last thing this tentative gay soldier needed was a reminder of just how queer the man he was dating is. Klaus very nearly tore the skirt off, even though he wasn’t wearing anything underneath it, but the door opened before he could make that very stupid decision.
He froze as Dave, wearing the same button-up he’d worn the first time they’d kissed and a new pair of pants he must have bought that afternoon, quickly gave Klaus a once-over. They made eye contact and Klaus instantly relaxed upon seeing the fondness in Dave’s eyes.
“You look beautiful.” Dave smiled.
Klaus entered the room, shutting the door behind him with one hand as he held Dave’s face in the other. He kissed him, smiling wide against Dave’s lips.
“What was that?” Dave asked when Klaus pulled away.
“A kiss, you idiot.”
“No shit, Klaus, I just didn’t know why you did it.”
“I did it because you complimented me and I am desperate for validation. Don’t flatter yourself or anything, I kiss everyone who says I look nice.”
Dave laughed, “you better not.” He was the one to kiss Klaus this time, pushing him against the door.
“Hey.” Klaus held onto Dave’s shoulders and moved him far enough away that he could lock eyes with him. “I love you.”
Dave didn’t hesitate, didn’t flinch away or act disgusted, even though it was the first time Klaus had said it and he had been sure the response would be negative.
“I love you too, Klaus.”

Just want to say I love your blog. Your TUA content is lovely and I can't say what a breath of fresh air it is to find another Luther champion. The fandoms treatment of him, istg, some of the most ludacris nonsense I've ever had to read. Especially love how you point out he's ALWAYS been so sweet and selfless when it comes to Allison and her personal happiness. Anyway I saw you say you seem confident alluther will actually happen. I sure hope so, but why do you figure? The antis are so loud.
Awwwww, thank you anon, you’re so sweet! Yeah, this blog is on 24/7 loving Luther lockdown! I feel like the antis are easing up a little bit after S2 aired because most of Luther’s scenes were used as comedic relief and the faves he was clashing with (Diego and Vanya) seem to have a better relationship with him now, so it’s not as bad anymore, but I have to admit I never ever go into the main tag so I can’t be 100% sure.
Maybe you should try looking through the ‘Luther Protection Squad’ tag to find some more like-minded people? I swear there are more of us out there!
But to come to the Alluther question:
I know that the antis are loud and I’ve noticed that most of them have counted S2 as a win for them, talking about how Allison ‘moved on’ and how Alluther won’t happen but I disagree (and I will now launch into a rambly post about why lmao).
WARNING: CONTAINS S2 SALT. PROCEED WITH CAUTION
All of this is based on the assumption though that they will be somewhat consistent in their writing regarding Alluther and S2 taught me that that isn’t very likely, so maybe I’m completely wrong and Alluther will never ever be mentioned in S3, but based on what happened so far, I could see them as an endgame couple.
I mean in S1 they were a pretty big plot point so I don’t think I have to say anything about that but even though the Alluther scenes have been toned down in S2 they were there.
Let’s see what antis would say about why Alluther won’t happen:
Allison is married
And? Allison has been married before and still mentioned comparing every man she ever loved/dated to Luther. Allison has been married and she has had a kid with another guy and still Alluther was going strong.
Not to mention that the end of this season has made it very clear we won’t see Raymond again.
Raymond (and Sissy) are temporary love interests for this particular season and both of them cannot leave their timeline without majorly fucking things up - at least according to Five, but the whole timetravel rules can change at the drop of a hat - but more importantly, both of them had a talk with their respective lovers about wanting to stay in their timeline.
So unless Allison will return to the 60s (which doesn’t seem likely tbh), Raymond is gone for good.
Raymond was her true love tho! Like Klave!
I don’t think antis actually word it like this but I’ve noticed how all of them hopped onto the Almond train immediately and keep gushing about how good and cute they are and that’s great! You can ship what you wanna ship! But I think a lot of the love for this ship has to do with how it prevents Alluther from happening. If Allison is deeply in love with this wholesome man, she can’t ever like her brother.
But tbh….I didn’t buy Almond. For two people who are happily married they crumble and burn awfully fast.
And tbh, I was thinking about making a post about this so I’m gonna add this rant here but I just wanna preface this with the fact that I don’t hate them and I don’t hate people who ship them, I’m just….using this opportunity to poke some hole into their relationship.
I think it would’ve been more believable if Raymond and Allison would be in the early stages of dating while all of S2 goes down. Think about it.
They are married? After one year? I mean, as far as I know, Allison has been in the 60s for about two years - since Luther was the first one who arrived and he spent 3 years there??? But I am not fact-checking this, so correct me if I’m wrong - so she had time to get used to being there, adjust to having no voice, meet Raymond, fall in love with him and get married to him.
And considering she could already talk again it must’ve have been a while before she started talking to/dating Raymond? I don’t think a wound like that wouldn’t take a while to heal but with this show’s consistency, maybe it did.
I was actually hoping Allison would stay mute for a while longer but alas
So, they got married pretty fast imo, and you could argue that it’s the 60s but
Allison isn’t from the 60s
Allison just got out of a bad marriage. There’s like, a year?? maybe?? between her first marriage and her second one and tbh, I don’t think Allison would get married again so fast, tying herself to someone again almost immediately, especially if you consider what getting married in the 60s means for a woman and her personal freedom (it’s hinted at with Sissy but not with Allison and even though Raymond was probably a good husband who let her have her freedom and her say in things - as we can see with their movement - it’s still the 60s. Women couldn’t earn their own money. They couldn’t even spend any money without having to ask their husband. They were basically property of their husband and I can’t believe Allison would immediately jump back into being married, no matter how nice and good the guy is).
“That just means it’s true love! That’s why their marriage may seem rushed!”
Yeah true love. I also keep secrets from my true love.
I mean, I understand that Allison couldn’t start talking about time travel or Raymond would’ve started thinking she’s crazy or something - and maybe would’ve sent her to a mental institution as is his right as a husband, so good idea getting married! - but she didn’t mention stuff like “I had a child.” or “I lost my family.” either and those are vague enough to not raise questions.
I mean, she could’ve lied! She could’ve said Claire is dead, which considering the apocalypse was what they were escaping is true!
She could’ve talked about how she had a family, but they kinda lost each other - maybe talking about how they all moved away and she doesn’t know where they are now, even though she misses them terribly.
I mean, I simply can’t believe that she had to grief for her own child all on her own and she didn’t even tell her husband (and she couldn’t even properly be sad about it since Raymond and her lived together, so she probably didn’t have many moments where she could think about the future and the things she lost without the possibility of being walked in on).
And how much it would’ve meant if there would’ve been a scene of her crying over Claire when she thinks she’s alone, but alas.
Then there’s also the whole added drama to their relationship. Which was btw, so unnecessary.
@showwriters: Why do you establish a relationship you obviously want to be viewed as full of love and instead of letting it be the steady rock the character can lean on during all the already ongoing chaos, you add drama to it and let it fall apart as a side plot which immensely suffers from not being shown/explored enough.
I mean, we already have relationship drama with Vanya/Sissy and that relationship feels more natural because their obstacles are outside forces and not...one of them distrusting the other.
You know, I get why Raymond is suspicious, I totally do! I just don’t think it makes the relationship believable.
Once again, if they would’ve been in the early stages of dating and suddenly Allison’s weird brothers appear and she seems to be in cahoots with the cops, I would also think ‘???’ and it would’ve made perfect sense for Raymond to be confused and distrustful and not want to talk to Allison.
But they’re married. They’re married and they vowed to love each other in sickness and in health and yet Raymond immediately jumps to ‘Allison is a spy’.
The woman you love enough to marry. That’s your first thought. Okay.
(And if you wanna compare that to Vissy...Vanya suddenly drives off in the night to meet her family and disappears for a while and she apparently did something to Harlan and now he’s behaving weirdly and has powers….and she’s talking about taking Sissy and him to the future…..and yet….Sissy trusted Vanya).
And tbh, I was done with their whole relationship the moment Allison spent the whole night calling every single hospital, trying to find out whether her husband was in one of them - was even alive - in tears and close to breaking down because the last time she saw him they were both involved in a riot and the possibility of him being in jail or hurt is very high only to find out…..
…..he had a meeting with their group without telling her because he doesn’t trust her.
And what? He couldn’t have called her to at least tell her he’s okay and he’s gonna stay somewhere else overnight because shady shit did just go down that they need to discuss but he wants to be alone for now? That’s the bare minimum and yet he doesn’t do that. He doesn’t even call to make sure she is okay since running away doesn’t mean she couldn’t have accidentally been dragged into a brawl and hurt.
Once again: They are married.
So tbh, all I got from this relationship is the feeling that Allison simply didn’t wanna be alone in this new timeline and that isn’t an explicit point against Alluther.
Okay, but….Allison moved on! So she still won’t get with Luther!
Did she? Did she really? I don’t think so. I mean, one of the first things we get from Allison aside from ‘She’s married’ is ‘She looks at the moon so often, her husband notices and gets her a book related to that’.
That’s one of the most blatant ways they could’ve said: ‘She misses Luther.’
And Luther only. Not the whole family, Luther. If they wanted to somehow make this platonic or familial, they wouldn’t have taken the character she is canonly interested in romantically (which she is and has been since S1, no matter what antis say).
I mean, if they only wanted to show ‘She misses her family’ they could’ve added a scene where she listens to the kid next door playing the violin or sees a boy in schoolboy shorts or maybe mistakes someone for Diego or whatever, endless possibilities. But they didn’t.
They made it very clear she misses Luther and I don’t think she had a scene that shows her missing any of her other siblings in such a way (which is btw paralleled by the scene where Luther mistakes someone for Allison, which is also the only scene where he’s shown thinking about one of his siblings to the point he thinks he sees them - as far as I remember).
But that’s probably only a coincidence, right?
Then there’s them meeting for the first time. I mean, they hug and the rest of the world disappears.
They took the time to shoot/cut this scene in a way that, when Allison and Luther hug after years of not seeing each other, everyone else isn’t in the shot anymore and it’s just them. Because they tried to make this as platonic as possible.
(In comparison, Allison and Diego don’t even hug. And Klaus and Allison do hug and it’s a happy moment but there is no romantic music and it’s more focused on them being happy to see each other and not framed as a romantic scene. I mean, I have no clue regarding things like ‘motifs’ and ‘scenery’ but just watch those two hug scenes back to back and you know what I mean).
Then the scene proceeds and they talk and sit down and Luther mentions her marriage and Allison tries to apologize.
Just think about that. She doesn’t outright apologize but she does try to explain why she got married by saying how hard it was and is only stopped by Luther telling her he’s glad she wasn’t alone.
How….how can you read that as a platonic convo between brother and sister? Just replace Luther with Klaus. Why would she feel the need to explain herself and seems guilty about being married? Is it because it implies she gave up on finding her family? If so, that would be her reaction with every sibling but she is explicitly like this with Luther. She tells Klaus she’s married too, and in that scene it’s definitely a ‘siblings catching up’ moment and it’s a happy moment and she doesn’t seem apologetic about being married.
She is with Luther.
Because they both know that there’s something between them and has been for a long time, to the point that Allison is visibly jealous when Luther has other relationships (his one-night-stand in S1) and this is the second time Allison has turned towards another man instead of waiting for Luther. And that’s why she tries to apologize. That’s why she tries to explain that she couldn’t know whether they - whether Luther - would ever show up, so she tried her best to move on - but she didn’t really, hence the moon scene.
(This is also the scene where Luther could’ve been angry with her - and she probably would’ve thought he’s in the right - since during the days leading up to the apocalypse it seemed like they were slowly working towards being together - even if the kiss never happened, there’s still the phone booth scene which is basically Luther confessing his feelings - and now she once again leaves him standing alone, waiting for her to possibly return to him.
But he isn’t, he just tells her he’s glad that she wasn’t alone. Because he is the actual embodiment of a gentleman and this world doesn’t deserve him).
And this is just what I remember from watching the season once and then not really engaging with it, I can’t understand how antis can see those scenes and come to entirely different conclusions. But I guess, you really only see what you wanna see, huh?
But, but…...Incest is disguting! Even their siblings think so!
They don’t. They really don’t. There’s a gifset on tumblr somewhere compiling the scenes in S1 that show how chill the sibs are with Alluther, but let’s disregard those and just focus on S2 since they changed up a lot from the prior season and antis seem to think S2 was them finally saying ‘No Alluther’.
I guess there’s the hair salon scene where Vanya, Klaus and Allison talk about relationships and Klaus lightly teases Allison for liking Luther.
Now, he mentions Allison crushing on their brother in the same sentence where he talks about Vanya and her ‘Farmfrau’ and unless I missed it, he doesn’t change his voice. He doesn’t suddenly sound completely disgusted, or like he wants to vomit or whatever people think, so either, he thinks Vissy is as ‘disgusting’ as Alluther, or, he thinks both are simply relationships his sibs are interested in pursuing and he teases them about them like a sibling may do.
And then you have Allison’s reaction.
She doesn’t go: ‘Oh yeah, that was gross, what was I thinking’, she doesn’t make a face or disgusted noises or what, no, she tries to defend herself and her feelings.
Which tells us:
Despite popular belief to disregard Allison’s say in the Alluther relationship, she wants the relationship and she is obvious enough about it their siblings know (and Klaus makes it a point to say ‘Allison is into Luther’ and not ‘Luther likes Allison and Allison tolerates it).
Alluther is brought up while they talk about current relationships, implying Allison still feels this way (especially because the way she reacts doesn’t make it seem like it’s a long over relationship with no longer relevant feelings. But again, I watched the season once and I don’t remember everything that was said. I think this is telling enough though).
So..tell me again how everyone thinks Alluther is disgusting?
By now anon is thinking: ‘What is the point of all this rambling?’
And yeah, I am sorry for going way too into detail but I just wanted to make it clear that if the writers were intend on killing Alluther off in S2 - like antis believe - then everything I just mentioned wouldn’t have happened.
(And that’s without even mentioning the cpr scene).
Alluther did get reduced but it didn’t vanish even though they decided to completely erase other things (like Claire and Eudora who are barely or not at all mentioned or things like Kliego being very close).
This would’ve been the best opportunity! They re-meet in the 60s and Allison is happily married and takes the time to tell Luther he should move on. Or both are single and Luther tries to ask where they’re standing and whether she would like to try with him and she goes ‘This would be a mistake’ and that’s it.
(I am making Allison the one who ends things because it would be ooc for Luther to just end the possible relationship after waiting for Allison for years and there needs to be some consistency even in the mess that was S2).
But! This didn’t happen!
Alluther is more or less back where it was in S1. Allison isn’t in a relationship anymore and won’t get back with the guy and Luther loves her no matter what. And the cheek kiss seems to leave them both on a hopeful note of finally getting together.
So unless they use S3 to once again redo the show, it feels like Alluther is set up to be endgame. Like, I am getting ‘star-crossed lovers’ vibes where you’re just waiting for them to finally get together - because they just belong - but things keep getting in the way.
You could compare it Diego/Lila in that regard, I think it’s pretty obvious those two are gonna end up together too.
I have another ask about how they could get together, where I will definitely ramble more, but this shall be it for now. I hope it was halfway consistent. (And doesn’t have too many typos, I’m too lazy to check).
Also the formatting is shit but idc, I spent like two hours on this

I see your Au’s where Klaus is the one with his powers suppressed and I raise you an Au where Ben’s power is the one suppressed
(May call this Cthulhu au? Sounds about right. I also somehow made Reginald worse??)
So, Reginald Hargeeves is a dick, but he’s also pragmatic, right? He doesn’t care for these kids, as long as they can live up to his expectations
He is absolutely determined for them all to reach their full potential, mental and physical safety be damned
So in this verse, he doesn’t give up on Vanya. He remains certain that he can control her and that she can control it
It takes a lot of time, but he’s persistent in his belief she can achieve greatness, which would be amazing virtue if he wasn’t such an abusive ass
The violin, he learns, helps a lot, helps hone her abilities and fine tune them to her advantage
The press love the little musician, with her big shiny eyes and careful nature and gentleness
You know who the press doesn’t like? Ben. Hates him actually.
Or rather, they hate what is inside of him. They hate the Horror
(once, when ben was very young, he had tried to explain to three that he was the horror and the horror was him. like conjoined twins, but she had looked so disgusted that he had shut up)
Because it’s hard to spin a weird eldritch abomination that kills people into a positive light, and in the aftermath of every mission there’s always a group, growing louder and louder with each one, arguing that just because they were criminals doesn’t mean they should be murdered. That the Umbrella Academy were playing judge, jury and executioner when they shouldn’t, that they had no legal power and what were they doing?
An even smaller group, but potent in it’s ferocity, points out just how terrible it is, forcing a child to kill people
And normally Reginald would write it off, ignore it except-
Except he can’t ignore the way the Horror has been acting lately-hungry and aggressive and mad. But not towards the other kids, no. Towards him. He steps into the room and Ben’s skin starts crawling and twisting.
(if he didn’t know better, he would say it was trying to protect him)
And Hargreeves, as we see in season 2, is an experienced fighter, but he’s not going to kid himself. He knows he doesn’t stand a chance against the Horror. The only ones who might are his siblings
But, as he realises with horror, he doesn’t know if they would side with him against number 6.
Because Ben is the shy, quiet kind one. If he ordered them to kill them- Number One might do it, but the others? No, no way, he sees how they look at him sometimes, all quiet fuming hatred and anger and-
They’d probably try and kill him themselves
But they’re young, and easily manipulated so he starts - leaving suggestions really- makes them watch any videos of the Horror attacking, showing it’s rampage as Ben wilts before them all. Suggests 6 shouldn’t be near the cameras anymore because he’s too frightening. TV shows now have movies like Alien and documentaries about parasites that burrow under the skin
They see a hulk figurine in the store one day and he makes sure to tell One, loud enough for everyone to hear, that he’s not a hero, he’s a monster, because he can’t control his impulses
At the end of every mission, he finds a reason to critique the Horror and Ben and their brutalness, all the while sending them out to do so anyways
The Horror, perhaps sensing the amount of bullshit that is happening, grows worse, grows even more agitated over time
4 and 5 and 7 rally behind him, because 5 and 7 are his isolation buddies and 4 and him have been friends forever. But 1 and 2 and 3- they start to pull away, little by little
Because they believe that he’s going too far that their father may actually be right, at least on this, it is a little freaky, and it’s not just their father saying it, it’s everyone and they can’t all be lying
He makes them all sit in on Ben’s special training- killing a rabbit, and now Vanya starts to flinch whenever he comes into the room, stops inviting him to her recitals
(it’s not a coincidence that rabbits were her favourite animal)
Five stays loyal though, making a point of going with him to the libraries or talking to him about books he’s read. Ben’s- he’s paler now, even quieter, but he enjoys the company and the Horror always seems to settle down in his presence
Then Five disappears one day and never returns.
Reginald is torn because on one hand- he’s one asset down and Five was always a very useful asset and very very clever but he always thought he was so clever, working around all of his rules
Vanya and Five were the closest and now she’s alone. And even though Vanya is one of the nicest people out there, she just lost her brother, and she needs someone to blame to lash out at and she remembers how Ben and Five would talk for hours about Five’s powers
She yells at him, screams at him that this is his fault, and Klaus tries to intervene but it doesn’t really work, because in this universe Vanya isn’t forgotten or ignored, she’s the most powerful and that comes with a certain amount of respect.
She’s more confident and sure of herself and she is sure that this is Ben’s fault
The Horror, sensing Ben’s stress, lashes out. It slams a tentacle down on the ground in front of her, causing her to scramble back, suddenly aware of the fact that she is in a room with someone who has a literal monster in his stomach
Diego walks in on Ben attacking their sister and immediately grabs his knife, stabbing into it and Ben howls, the tentacles sliding back under his skin
Diego is praised for his quick thinking, one of the few times his father ever compliments him and he holds it close to his chest
(she’ll realise her mistake much later of it not being Ben’s fault, but she doesn’t apologise, too scared of the Horror and what it could do to her)
(she full on avoids him now)
All that leaves in Klaus, but to be honest? He has his own issues to deal with. At first, he clings to Ben because he gets it, the absolute hatred you have to your powers
And Ben is so so so happy to have someone be there for him, someone who hates their abilities as much as he does. They comfort each other after their own personal lessons, talk about which powers they would like to have, how they would love to get rid of their powers entirely
And then Klaus does. Get rid of them.
Well, kind of. Drugs as it turns out, cancels out his abilities. They learn this during a mission and he’s so happy. And Ben is so happy for him
Except . .  after a while, Klaus starts to pull away too, so caught up in the world of drugs and addiction and leaving him behind to deal with his own issues
He tries to confront him on it, but Ben was always the meekest of his siblings, and it doesn’t go well
“You’re just jealous” Klaus spits “you can’t turn off” he gestures towards Ben’s torso “that thing.”
All the while, the Horror is growing more and more agitated, squirming under his skin like an itch, stretching it and bruising it, awful and visible. His siblings, sickened by this display, start to avoid him, which just makes him agitated, which just makes the Horror agitated, which makes it more active, which makes his siblings avoid him more, rinse and repeat
(he can’t move, somedays, from the pain of it all, muscles stretched beyond their limit by the thing that should never be beneath a persons skin)
And then- and then, after a very bad mission, where his siblings had all looked away as he emerged bloody from another room, his father tells him he doesn’t have to do missions if he doesn’t want to
Holy hell. Holy fucking shit
This is- it’s- everything he has ever wanted since his first ever training exercise
He says yes, of course
(The Horror hasn’t been this calm in years)
And he doesn’t have to go on missions anymore! He gets to stay home and read and be alone but in a good way and it is everything he has ever dreamed of and more
(in another room, their father announces that Ben is too dangerous to be allowed on missions anymore, and that he won’t be training with them anymore)
His siblings are torn between relief-that they won’t have to see another killing spree, and jealousy-because he doesn’t have to go on missions or have personal training
(none of them are relieved for ben, who always hated going on missions)
Klaus especially is jealous, and is snippy towards Ben for the remainder of the week, but he’s on cloud freakin’ nine, and he doesn’t really notice any of his sibling’s odd behaviour
But as time passes, Ben starts to feel more and more left out and excluded. The main reason why the siblings are so close is that they go on missions and train together, and Ben is no longer doing that.
He also notices that the others are . . . blaming him a lot. Even for things he didn’t do
“Why is there a hole in the wall?”
“Ben must have let the Horror out”
“You’re bringing an animal inside the house? Don’t let Ben see it”
It’s lonely, but the alternative is going back to training, and he would actually rather die. It’s just- he’s being selfish. The Horror is a monster (he is a monster) so it makes sense that others would think he was the one doing Bad Things
And Ben spent his entire life trying not to be a Bad Person, but everyone keeps saying that he is a Bad Person, and he isn’t sure what to do. Sometimes people recognise him on the streets, pull back, hide their kids, some the same age as him
(once Allison and Luther were with him when this happened, and they looked at the woman shielding her baby with something like-understanding? empathy? whatever it was, it made Ben’s stomach open, but not in a Horror way in a Bad Way)
He breaks down in tears, finds his mom in the middle of the night, feeling like a baby because he is fourteen years old and he shouldn’t be crying except this morning Diego had turned to Luther and asked “where’s the freak?” and Luther had grinned and said “Ben’s still in his room” and neither had realised he was standing behind them
(family scapegoat syndrome is a very serious thing.)
He goes to her, crying and wishing that it would just go away, that awful, awful monster in his body, why won’t it just die already?
Grace tries to comfort him, but Reginald knew this would one day happen, and put certain  . . things into her coding, things she can and can’t say.
She sits there and tells her son awful things about him and the thing that lives inside of him, a parasite, she is forced to call it, to call him
(and you may think Diego hates Reginald the most, but that title has, will and always shall belong to Grace)
“You’re disgusting” she tells her son and thinks of the man who made her
Ben wails, loud and strong, and the Horror responds to his horror, jumping to life and slamming into Grace and then Ben is screaming and he can hear his siblings footsteps, rapidly approaching, but he’s trying to get to his mom and-
He blacks out
He wakes back up in the infirmary, where Pogo is waiting for him. He explains how their mother is damaged, and will take a while to fix
He has to go about his day with Diego’s glare scorching his back. Breakfast is burnt porridge and milk.  The first chance he gets, Diego accosts him, knife missing by inches
“A-a-asshole!” He shouts, brandishing a knife “h-how could you?!”
“I didn’t mean to!” Ben squeaks, because he was always the shortest brother and his brother loves their mom and he hurt their mom and his brother is armed
“Diego stop” Vanya says, tugging on his arm “you’ll anger it”
Ben looks down to see his skin ripple and flushes, pressing himself even further against the wall
“You saw what happened with mom” Allison chimes in, glaring at Ben because their breakfast that morning was awful
“He’s not worth it” Luther says, and for once it seems they’re in agreement, because Diego turns and walks away, the others trailing behind him
Klaus stops, and gives him a sad look before scurrying after them, leaving Ben alone
Afterwards Ben is pulled into dad’s office and he’s handed pills. “To suppress your more . .  animalistic side” he said by way of explanation.
Six blinks up at him. Suppress? As in . . get rid of? No more Horror
“It has come to my attention that you are far too dangerous to have running around unchecked” dad says when he asks, and Ben wilts
He takes the medication, and tries not to get his hopes up about it, but the Horror is gone
Instead of the usual aching chasm in his stomach there’s nothing. Just a sense of stability, of calm. He doesn’t feel like bursting into tears or crawling away in shame
(he doesn’t . .  he can’t feel much of anything really)
But he does feel excitement. His siblings are going to be so amazed- no more Horror!- and- and his dad can give Klaus some medication too, so he doesn’t have to use drugs anymore- or other drugs anymore!
His father pulls him aside and tells him that he must never tell anybody about this medication. His siblings have to keep thinking he can summon the Horror
Ben loves their father so much, wants to impress him, wants to make him proud. Except-Klaus. Klaus deserved to have this medication too, right? His- his powers were way worse than Ben’s
Reginald tells him, point-blank, that if he tells anyone about suppressing the Horror, he will take him off the medication
And that is-Ben feels kind of muffled right now, as if he’s under a weighted blanket but-
Terror is the only way to describe it, because he just found peace and now it is being threatened to have it ripped away
He lies about the Horror. The others continue to avoid him, but he also avoids them now, guilt over his lie causing him to cut himself off from Klaus, who cared for him, who deserves to have this as well, but Ben is just so selfish-
The second he hits eighteen, Ben leaves the house. He’s been on medication for 4-5 years now, and it shows. His emotions are basically gone.
He stays away from everyone until the funeral, when Five returns, telling him about the apocalypse, and he believes him, wholeheartedly believes him
He’s so frazzled by the announcement that he goes off his medication, forgotten in the moment of the literal apocalypse
(Reginald Hargreeves was a man trying to play god. He tried to lock away a beast too strong to be tamed)
(Someone should have taught him;when you cage a beast, the beast will get angry)

my thoughts on season 2
or rather, a list of things i didn’t like about it and a few things i did. spoiler warning, of course :~)
hello friends, thank you for joining me on my journey to convince the world to hate season 2 - I’M KIDDING LOL i liked season 2, but there are quite a few things i wasn’t that happy with and i’m going to cry about them like a baby now.
1. my second biggest disappoint with this season... NO HAZEL!!! i’m devastated!!!! i absolutely love hazel’s character and the depth cameron britton brought to the role.. i can’t believe they killed him so quickly :( maybe cameron had other work commitments but man i’m so sad. i seriously felt the lack of his presence this season and it was a dynamic that was sorely missed imo. the swedes could never.
2. the plot moved slower than i’d like. season 1 was very well paced, it felt non-stop, and like they were always working towards a goal, moving somewhere. some parts of season 2 felt slow or like things had come to a standstill and we were just watching them live rather than seeing them work towards something. which is fine if that’s what you’re into, but for me i think TUA works best when it’s GOGOGO like in season 1, and when it wasn’t, we had really intimate character moments, which i felt season 2 lacked.
3. the music didn’t hit as hard :( when i think of season 1 i can immediatley name a multitude of iconic scenes with the soundtrack - five murdering everyone in the doughnut shop, the bowling alley fight, i think we’re alone now OF COURSE, the slowmo montage to all die young, hazel and chacha burning the prosthetics building, gerard’s cover of happy together, five walking through the apocalypse to noel gallagher, run boy run, etcetcetc. those all just came off the top of my head. when thinking about season 2 i can only name two scenes off the top of my head (frank sinatra and backstreet boys). which is pretty sad.
4. the characterisation felt weaker overall. it didn’t feel as complex or deep whereas i felt season 1 really delved into each character and explored them a lot more. they all felt slightly watered down, especially luther, oh my god!! they turned him into a characeture whose only purpose is to eat a lot of food and pull silly faces. that was really disappointing. i’d hoped we’d get some scenes with him where he’d discuss all the pressure put on him by their dad, the guilt he feels for screwing up, insecurity etc. the scene with him and five in the club only scratched the surface. plus, allison only mentioned her daughter two times? it was really bizarre to me, it literally seemed like she’d forgotten about her. and speaking of forgetting family members...
5. why does nobody give a shit about ben. i’m fuMING. they all saw ben in the season 1 finale and then they didn’t even care to mention him other than five asking if ben was there once, only once the family were all back together mind you, and when klaus said no, none of them even questioned it. despite the fact that klaus very clearly is talking/bickering with a spirit in front of them several times. none of the are like ‘uuhh klaus are you talking to ben or like...’ and that is really goddamn sad. ben deserved so much better.
6. ben’s arc in general! this is my biggest disappointment with this season. personally i’d really hoped they’d go the route that klaus would learn to control his powers and manifest ben in the real world for limited periods of time, like when ben punched him in the face or when ben pulled klaus and diego out from under the falling roof of the academy. and then eventually, when the show ended, ben could ~move on~ and go to the afterlife after being able to spend time with his family. but nooo. he’s back to being invisible, uncared about, forgotten and miserable. i like that they let him possess klaus for a bit and experience the world again, that was nice. though when it turned out klaus had already slept with his crush and she called him d*ddy i did my bigget sigh ever. and he’s just gone now. he doesn’t even get to go to heaven. he’s just. nothing. and vanya is the only one who even acknowledged it (other than klaus obviously). i swear to god, if season 3 doesn’t do a scene where klaus ~dies~ for a bit and goes to the afterlife again and sees ben there, i will RIOT.
7. didn’t much like klaus’ storyline this season either. the cult thing was a bit weird and wasn’t done in the way i’d expected them to do it at all. i thought klaus would be a lot more sombre and serious this season too without the drugs to distract him, but he still acted high and Quirky the whole time, which is a shame, i’d love to have seen some more depth added to his character. plus, i thought he took the drugs because the ghosts were always bothering him.. we literally didn’t see any other than ben. also the stuff with dave was... Not Good. the kid they cast as dave had zero chemistry with klaus/robert, and he looked super young so it was.. kind of weird to see klaus be all like I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU. and i don’t think it even went anywhere. it just seemed pointless to me.
8. i felt like the fallout from the previous season was really glossed over. like vanya just forgot everything and everyone else is kinda like *shrugs* ah well. idk man i feel like there would’ve been a much bigger emotional cost and internal turmoil than there was.
9. i hated the ending. sorry. it felt really ~generic superhero story~, as did the siblings vs commission thing in the last episode, which TUA isn’t supposed to be. and emo ‘ben’ made me cringe gfhjskkdfj. plus the oopsy we did a timeline fucky thing is getting a lil old now but whatever. plus the sparrow academy means a bunch of new characters which means screentime will get even more split from the main siblings, which i don’t want.
so yeah.. i have some gripes with season 2. that said....
i did like some things!! i loved vanya having a female love interest, hell yeah. i loved five meeting old five, their dynamic was really fun and the dude who played old five was great, i feel like he really delivered his lines the same way aidan does. lila was cool too, i really liked the actress, she did great. seeing the siblings get closer was really nice too.
overall, i’d give the season a 6.5/10, so yeah, i did still enjoy it!!! i just don’t think it was as good as season 1, by quite a long way, and i have some things i didn’t like. feel free to disagree with me tho, i’m just a big dumb idiot. and thanks for reading :~)

A/N: She enjoyed this so I hope you will too! It can also be found on ao3. I also didn’t really edit this.  Let me know if I need to add onto my warnings.
1. BEN
"Klaus, where did that bruise on your cheek come from?"
Klaus glanced over to his loving brother Ben who decided to appear next to him. He wondered what lie he could tell, turning back to the mirror. His training needed to remain a secret. He could say he fell, which wasn't a lie, but Ben probably wouldn't believe him. He needed something specific for him. Five was a vicious little human, so he could use him as an excuse. Ben could never ask Five what happened, anyway. Klaus looked back at him with a large grin, "Our little psycho."
"What did he do?" Ben asked, eyebrows furrowing. Ben leaned in closer to study the bruise.
"I was bothering him, and he shot a rubber band. It hit me in the face," He lied, "He didn't mean it though, Benny."
"Make sure to be more careful around him, okay?" Ben said, with a loving smile.
Wow, Ben was gullible.
2. DIEGO
"Klaus, where did that bruise come from?" Diego asked, pushing the large bruise on his right hip where his shirt had ridden up.
Klaus was currently lying in Diego's bed stretched out as the said brother sat at the end of the bed cleaning his knives. He had been staying in Diego's room for the past few days because his nightmares were rearing its ugly head. Diego was a secret cuddle bug, which made his nightmares stay away.
"Do you really want to know?" Klaus asked, fixing his shirt.
Diego nodded, setting his knives down.
Klaus knew making Diego uncomfortable will make him drop the subject. Sex would do it. "Well, Di, A few days ago I had toe-curling rough sex."
He watched Diego's face turn red and look down at his knives. He dropped the subject completely. Klaus chuckled and grabbed his yarn and knitting needles. He felt bad for lying, but he needed to train more before telling them.
3. FIVE
"Where the fuck did this come from?" Five asked, lifting Klaus' shirt.
"Wha- Five!" Klaus said, shoving Five away and fixed his shirt.
Five's eyes were wide, he was uncharacteristically concerned. "Klaus, your entire chest is bruised!"
"Hush, little brother," Klaus said petting his brother's hair. He was genuinely shaken at his brother's reaction. It felt like five was a child again. Five was usually dismissive towards everyone, especially him, so seeing him on the verge of tears was terrifying.
His lie would have to be funny to get him to relax. Klaus ignored his body screaming at him to keep Five at a distance, he pulled Five into a hug. "It's a funny sorry actually," Klaus said kissing his brother's head.
"What did you do?" Five asked, nuzzling into his shoulder.
"I climbed into a laundry basket and slid down the stairs and landed on my stomach." Klaus lied.
It seemed to work because five started snickering before erupting into full-body laughter. Klaus relaxed seeing his brother perk up and joined in the laughter.
4. VANYA
"Hey, Klaus. How did you get that bruise?"
Klaus was physically exhausted and just wanted to get food and go back to sleep. He hurt his left leg training today so he couldn't leave the kitchen until she left. He was stuck.
Klaus glanced at the bruise on his bicep, "What bruise, this bruise?"    Klaus asked pointing to the large bruise on his bicep.
"Yeah, that one," Vanya said, cocking her head to the side.
"Vanny, I dunno, I'm always banging into stuff. You may have noticed, I'm a bit clumsy," Klaus explained, turning back around and pouring a cup of Five's coffee. He knew that brushing it off was the best option for Vanya.
"oh, it's just big. I thought that maybe someone hurt you." Vanya seemed embarrassed by her assumption.
"If someone hurts me, I would tell someone. I promise." Klaus gave Vanya a large fake smile and turned his back to her and waited for her to leave.
5. ALLISON
"Holy shit, your entire back is bruised and scraped up."
Klaus groaned lifting his head and glanced at Allison who was standing in his doorway. Klaus put his head back down, "What do you want, Ally?" He asked.
"We are having a family meeting. Klaus, what happened to you?" Allison asked, walking in.
"I slipped and fell in the bathroom." Klaus lied not even bothering to think about it.  He had noticed it was getting easier and easier to lie to his family. No one seemed to be catching on. He was thankful his family ignored him for the most part.
"Are you sure that's what happened?" she asked, stepping into his room.
"I was there, Allison," Klaus said, waving his goodbye hand to get rid of her.
"Oh, okay." She whispered and walked back out of his room, "I'll tell them you'll be down in five minutes." she closed the door behind him.
Klaus whimpered, pushing himself up in bed. His body was begging for him to rest, but he couldn't.
6. LUTHER
"I've noticed that you've been pretty bruised up."
Klaus groaned, hearing Luther come up behind him on his way to the bathroom. He just wanted to take a bath and relax. The pain was almost too much to handle. "Luther, it's late. I want to relax in the bath and then go to sleep," Klaus whines.
"Is everything okay? Something is wrong with you."
"Luther, everything is fine, nothing is going on that is or ever will be of concern. Okay?" he lied, trying to keep his voice even.
He knew Luther was just looking out for his 'team'; He was stuck in the mindset of being number one. Klaus understood that, but it didn't make it any less annoying. He just wanted to be left alone, but it was too much to ask of his siblings.
"Are you sure?" He asked, reaching out and awkwardly grasping his shoulder.
Klaus gave a weak smile, "I am sure, Luther." Klaus said, patting his brother's arm. Klaus pulled out of his grip and made his way into the bathroom.
He leaned against the bathroom door and tried not to cry. Luther had grabbed a bruise. There was pain shooting down his arm. He shoved himself forward, excited to slip into a warm bath, and relax.
+ 1
"Family meeting!" Allison announced as Klaus walked into the house.
Klaus wanted to ignore them and make his way upstairs, He was bone tired, and all he wanted was to curl up in his bed and sleep for days. He shoved down his first instinct and decided it was best to be polite. "Allison, can this wait until tomorrow, please? I am not feeling good," Klaus asked, stepping into the living room where the rest of his family sat.
Klaus was on edge as Luther closed the doors and stood in front of it. He glanced at his siblings, who stared at him. Watching. Waiting.
Something was very wrong. No one was talking. They were just fidgeting in their seats and glancing around. "Guys, what's wrong?" He asked, breaking that awkward silence.
"Do. . . Are you dating?" Allison asked, her voice soft.
Klaus cocked his head to the side, "Why is that any of your business?" He asked.
"Just answer the question, Klaus," Luther snapped, making Klaus jump.
He wondered what that had to do with anything, "No, I haven't been dating. Why are you asking?" He asked, looking to Five for clarification.
"We can rule out domestic violence," Luther said.
"Domestic wha- Five, what is going on here?" Klaus asked. He could rely on Five to be honest, but he seemed to be afraid to say something. "Five, tell me what this is about."
"We are trying to figure out why you are so bruised up! We thought that maybe someone was abusing you," Five explained, standing up.
Klaus burst into laughter, "Guys, no one is hurting me. I got these bruises training," Klaus explained, sitting down on Diego's lap and untied his shoes. He knew they wouldn't believe him, so he had to show them.
"Training?" Luther asked.
"How did you do that training?" Five asked.
Klaus slipped his shoes off and tossed them aside. He had moved in front of his family to prove he had another power.
"Watch."
He closed his eyes.
He tried not to let nerves and exhaustion get in his way of him showing off his newfound power of levitation. The gasps and disbelief of his family made him smirk. He looked down to see him hovering about a foot over the ground.
"I've been trying to get this under control for the past few weeks. I have a lot of trouble lowering myself. I tend to fall and bruise my body up." Klaus said.
"This is... How?" Five asked, walking closer admiring his brother.
"I was fighting with Ben. . . and I didn't notice I was levitation until He pointed it out. When I noticed, I hit the floor like a sack of potatoes," he explained, trying to focus on staying up. he was way too tired to stay up longer than a few minutes. "Diego, can you make sure I don't fall?" He asked.
"Yeah, come on down," Diego said, moving close.
Klaus closed his eyes and tried to focus on lowering himself. He opened his eyes as he was inches from the ground before he fell. He leaned back into his brother.
Diego helped steady Klaus, "Th-That was ama-amazing! I-" Diego closed his eyes and took a deep breath, "I am so proud of you."
Klaus pulled his brother into a hug. He bit back a groan when Diego held him tightly. He had planned on hiding it until he had control, mainly not to disappoint his family. He was wrong. They were proud of him. he let go of Diego and turned to everyone to see them all with smiles. It felt nice.
"For now, stop training." Five walked over to Klaus, "We are going to remodel the gym while your body heals up. We will make a safe place to practice."
"Anything you say, old man," he said, pulling Five into a hug.
"Group hug?" Allison asked.
"Group hug. Just be gentle. My entire body is bruised," Klaus reminded them.
They hurried over and hugged him, making sure to tell Klaus how proud they are.

After I had watched season 1 back in 2019, I made a post talking about what I thought of each of the siblings and how much I liked them, so I figured that I should do this again now that I watched season 2 because man things have changed quite a bit.
Luther: Big yes. His development this season was so good. I never quite hated Luther as much as everyone else did, for most of season 1 I actually thought he was just fine, until the whole thing with Vanya happened of course. Now though? He got that redemption and it worked. I liked the fact that, upon meeting Vanya again, he immediately apologizes to her and even realizes that what he did was wrong. I thought it felt genuine. He admits this again later around Diego, too. I had believed that Luther could be redeemed and heck he was. He's not a favorite but I do like him now and him interacting with the others (specifically Diego and Five) was hilarious. So good on him! And I'm glad the fandom seems to be accepting him more now too. He definitely had to redeem himself most out of all of them and I'm happy that it was succesful.
Diego: Well what do you expect me to say, this account is literally mainly Diego themed. He's been my BOY since season 1 and nothing has changed about that. I did feel like he was done a bit dirty in season 2 because him having a boner for both JFK and Lila was overshadowing a lot of his further development but that's more on the writing than on him. I also feel like they dumbed him down a little for whatever reason? Like, sure, he's not meant to be some genius like Five, but he sure used more braincells in season 1- He did have some really awesome moments again though. which I listed in a previous post, and his development from "I'm a lone wolf and I need to do everything on my own because I can't trust anyone" to "I'm starting to accept that it's ok to rely on others and that I don't have to go through shit all alone and I'm even admitting that I love my family in front of them" was beautiful. I won't get into that much detail here because I talk about him a lot anyways and will continue to do so, so I'll leave it at this. I could go on about him for hours though. Obvious favorite.
Allison: Y E S!!!! Just. Yes. Imma be honest, I didn't like her that much in season 1 all things considered, she had some great moments there but overall I was iffy about her and also her ability and the way she would use it. Cue season 2 and everything changes. The fact that she stopped using her power because she wanted to accomplish things on her own and only used it when absolutely needed was a huge improvement and I loved that part of her development so much. And the way that they made a good part of her plotline revolve around activism for equal rights was! Absolutely! Amazing! It was handled so well and her being that strong, independent woman fighting for her rights as a person of color really made me adore her. It didn't have much to do with the main plot of the show but this side plot might have been my favorite this season. Also her relationship with Ray was honestly so goddamn precious, it got me into my feelings a lot. They deserved the world. So yeah! Once again, I think her development worked out super well and I love her a lot. Also...not really an important thing but my GOD her style this season! From the hair to the outfits...gorgeous. Even greater than in s1. I'm gay yes that's all
Klaus: Honestly, not that much has changed since season 1. Admittedly, he didn't go through that much development (frankly, he didn't need to as much as certain others) and yes a good chunk of his screentime was comedy relief, but he's just so loveable. After s1 he was my third favorite and I think that's still the case. Also, the thing with him and Dave HURT like damn haven't we and Klaus suffered enough already in season 1? I get it, none of the siblings get to have successful and lasting relationships, it's almost a joke by now, but that doesn't mean Klaus needs to suffer even more. But also good on him for managing to be slightly less intoxicated overall!! So uh yeah. My opinion on him hasn't exactly changed so that's all I got but I love him!!! Who doesn't, though, let's be real.
Five: Sort of the same thing as with Klaus. Five is still pretty much the same little, sarcastic shit of a genius and I like him a lot, much like after season 1. Though I was maybe slightly disappointed with his development (or lack thereof) in s2. Last year I talked a bit about how I wanted him to grow as a person and learn that it's ok to feel things, now that he wasn't alone anymore. I wanted him to start accepting that he doesn't need to do everything alone anymore and that it's ok to rely on his family, much like Diego in his development. We didn't get all that much of it in s2 but I suppose it's also nothing that should be rushed, not with a character like him. I did however see improvement in the way that he was more open admitting that these people are his family and that he would do anything in order to save them. Despite calling them all kinds of insults and not always being particularly nice because that's just the way he is, it definitely became more apparent that he cares about them and I like that. A scene I found particularly interesting was Five saying that "he was done with the killing" to the Handler after the board massacre. He only did this for his family. To save them. Cold-hearted assassin Five doesn't want to kill anymore. It really does emphasize that he is human after all and that he does have feelings no matter how hard he pretends he doesn't. Furthermore, the scenes where he was around his other self showing that even he wasn't always super composed and everything. Let Five learn to be human again!!!
Ben: ...do I really have to do this? I think I'll cry talking about him. Oh well. After I had watched season 1 twice, I came to the conclusion that he was my 2nd favorite. This is still and perhaps even more so the case now. I always adored the way he's so incredibly kind and caring. And I like the way that in s2 they put more emphasis on how frustrating it often was for him to be stuck like this not being able to do anything and seeing the only person he can interact with throw his life away like that. When the siblings had all reunited again and Ben said to himself "I missed you all...so much." That shit made me weep. He cares about his siblings so much :( His little crush on Jill was so cute too, like, aww. And!!!! Klaus eventually allowing him to possess his body for a while. The way he took in every smell and every feeling for the first time after so long...I loved that. It's what he deserved. As well as the scene he had with Jill AND ALSO THANK YOU DIEGO FOR HUGGING "BEN" THAT WAS SO PRECIOUS AND AHH!!! So uh yeah. I LOVED all about that part so much. And then...oh. my. God. The first and I think only scene in season 2 that genuinely made me bawl my eyes out. Like for real. Not even kidding. BEN LITERALLY SAVED THE GODDAMN WORLD!!!!!!!! HE DID IT AND HE DID IT ALL BY HIMSELF. HIM! HE! BEN HARGREEVES! The way he comforted Vanya and told her that she wasn't a monster at all was just so beautiful and, for one last time, once again emphasized just how caring and kind he is. When he asked for a hug...that's when I just could not anymore. I'm tearing up thinking about it. He deserved that hug so, so much. I'm glad he was no longer afraid of the light and ready to pass on, literally saving the world in the process. I'm so endlessly proud of him, you don't even know. If anyone owned this season, it was him. Just like that.
Vanya: my opinion on her has somehow changed a lot yet not at all at the same time. How that works? I don't even know. I was feeling mostly neutral about her after season 1 and I still do? First things first- Memory loss is an absolutely turn-off for me most of the time. I'm not sure why but it's just a trope that annoys me to no end. In this case I didn't find it annoying at all though? Sure, it was kind of a cheap way to avoid Vanya having to deal with the aftermath of what happened in s1 while being stranded in Dallas alone a few decades into the past, but I thought it worked pretty well. The road to her regaining her memory was interesting too. Overall she's just not really my type of character? She just doesn't catch my attention that easily but I thought she was written REALLY well this season and I liked her development. Specifically her learning to come to terms with who she really is and also learning to control her ability and use it to protect the people she cares about. Also.. the wlw serve....god thank you so much YES. Ahem. Yah. Overall not a favorite but I like her too!!
And that's what I think was really good about season 2. It made me genuinely like all of them. I left season 1 not really thinking all that highly of ike 3 of them but now I do find all of them really likeable! And that's great, honestly. So yeah! That's it. Maybe I'll talk about the other s2 relevant characters at some point, who knows!

the show could’ve been improved if five doesn’t make it back to the mansion at the beginning of ep 10
say... five doesn’t turn up as everyone’s dusting themselves off. the team (sans five) still decide to have their bowling alley meeting where they decide to put vanya down like old yeller.
five doesn’t need to meet with handler. it was pointless. so skip it.
and, since the tracker’s still needed to lure the commission to the bowling alley, one of the siblings takes it, because it’s disguised as a piece of candy.
allison still disagrees, and still has her Phone Booth Love Confession with luther.
but instead of... inexplicably agreeing to go euthanize the sister she’s been gunning for during all of s1, she still puts her foot down.
she heads back to the rubble of the house, claiming she needs to tell five where to find them (which, she does, but also, she doesn’t want to take part in what they’re about to do)
five stumbles on the rubble of the house and gets his Oh Shit I Was Wrong moment, but he actually gets to linger in it.
(tangent: because... he would?
he’s been haunted by that image of the destroyed mansion for decades, so seeing it again, after he thinks he Did It and Saved The World and wasted a days’ worth of time sitting on his ass because he thinks he fixed it... is gonna fuck him up real bad.
he’d probably short circuit and break down if he realized that he fucked up that badly. probably going to drop to his knees, try not to cry and fail, and start digging for the siblings’ bodies.
he’s not gonna just stroll up like ‘lol so i miscalculated the apocalypse whoops my bad anyway lets go kill vanya who i have apparently deduced is the cause of the apocalypse offscreen, and who i have no emotional qualms about killing, despite an entire season of evidence to the contrary.’)
so. five’s flipping out. allison shows up. she settles him down and they talk.
we need to actually see him process that vanya
1) has powers
2) destroyed the house, killing pogo and grace
3) is being hunted down by his brothers as they speak.
4) is probably the cause of the apocalypse
5) is what he’s obsessed with stopping at all costs.
so. five Realizes Things. he and allison have A Moment where they actually reflect on how they failed vanya, that isn’t a throwaway ‘uhhh maybe we shouldn’t have done that’ after the fact.
specifically, dwelling on:
allison rumoring her (with the necessary caveat of But You Were A Child And Our Father Made You And You Didn’t Know What You Were Doing, because he was and he did and she didn’t)
how she, as well as luther, diego, klaus and ben, all mistreated and isolated her throughout their childhood. that yes, their father did encourage that behavior, but at what point did they just... pick it up on their own and run with it?
necessary because: five never did that. he’s the only one vanya never envisions rejecting her because he never did.
leaving was the Big Sin five committed against her. give him a moment to dwell on that. if he’d stayed, none of this would’ve happened. and even after he came back... if he’d stayed, none of this would’ve happened.
ideally, layer in that fiveya vibe:
we know why his absence made the difference, and why he was closer to her than everyone else. it’s not platonic, it’s not familial. it’s okay to say the L Word.
and they come to the (wrong) conclusion that they have to prioritize saving the world, because they’re a pair of ex-child soldiers who are so far from over their trauma, because they think that they’re all just reflections of their father and will never be able to step out of his shadow. because they’re always going to do what dad would do.
and THEN, they head to the icarus. they show up late, after the crowd’s left, after ben shows up. probably right before the final push.
and... look i keep saying this but. five being the one not-shooting vanya. much better than allison doing it. stopping the apocalypse is his plot to resolve, this is his moment; allison’s was defending vanya after she hurt her. letting five not-shoot completes his arc, and it keeps allison from doing the same thing over and over.
so. five and allison show up. five holds the gun to vanya’s head.
and five decides to shoot past her, because he realizes that the conclusion they all reached was wrong.
(because, on a personal level, he loves her too much to kill her.)
and in the grander scheme of the show’s themes, because it’s not too late for them to:
face that trauma, get past it and heal, vanya included
reconcile and be a family on their own terms* (*as in, that romance isn’t going anywhere, nor should it)
reject reginald, his mission and his teachings, and become their own people who make their own choices
not have to choose between her and the world, because they should be able to have both
anyway.
