Reminder that making Loki and Sylvie romantic was not a huge mistake. It was very smart and very in-character.
Not because they love themselves. That’s just a very clever writer’s play on the Loki-Trope-words.
Because she’s the most not-him person that there is. He wants to be the center of attention. She wants to live a quiet life left alone. He wants to take thrones and rule. She wants to topple thrones and rulers. He wants to tyrannize and enslave. She wants to set whole realities free. He sets traps to defeat his most hated foes. She just runs up and stabs them. He never shuts up. She’s stoic and quiet.
Tumblr media
To people who believe it’s weird or gross because “they share DNA” or “they’re siblings…” Yeah. They share the same DNA, clearly—just like the Alligator Loki! 🙄 And they share parents, clearly—oh, except they don’t, because Loki’s parents were the kind of people to hide his true origins from him, and Sylvie’s parents were as different from that as you can get. They don’t share DNA, they aren’t the same gender, they don’t share memories or a similar history, and they don’t even share a name. They’re not like the same person, and they’re not like siblings.
The places where they’re similar? Like Sylvie’s chip on her shoulder against those who’ve wronged her? They’re all the places Loki has grown out of, or is in the process of growing out of when he meets Sylvie—and she’s been hellbent on avenging herself against those who’ve wronged her for her whole life.
He’s in love with her because of the—say it with me—“Idea of Potential” that she represents.
It’s just like how Ariel is in love with Eric, even before she gets to know him, because all she needs to know is that his character traits match up with everything she’s always hoped humans could be like. All Loki needs to know about Sylvie is that her character traits match up with everything he’s always wished he could be:
Confident instead of pretending to be confident; heroic instead of pretending to be heroic; secure in who he is regardless of what people think of him; able to focus on something bigger than himself; etc. Loki’s never been able to be those things and even convinced himself he’s proud of pretending—but Sylvie genuinely is all those things.
Tumblr media
And Sylvie? Since she was stolen from her home and family she has made no connections, had nobody care about her, and focused only on her mission. If she ever had dreams outside of that, it probably revolved around the idea of freedom. Then in comes this guy who not only expresses care for her, but is the type of guy who doesn’t let anybody tell him what he is or what to do—he can relate to her feelings of hurt, and eventually, tries to help her grow beyond them, too.
They both represent something that the other person has always wanted to do or be, and they both challenge each other, and they both have this big existential hole in their hearts of “nobody wants me or likes me” to relate to each other with.
How is this a mistake? It’s literally the smartest way they’ve ever had Loki make a connection with someone outside his adopted family. (Mobius is cool and all but he’s a Thor-stand-in for this Loki, who’s been ripped out of Thor’s timeline.)
I’m going to stop beating the dead horse, but basically, if you think Loki and Sylvie as a romantic couple is weird, try and look at it the way it actually is, instead of superimposing “female love interest bad” or catchy Internet memes like “Loki Show Approves Incest” over everything 🙄

✧IN ANOTHER LIFE. || loki laufeyson x fem!reader
summary: when loki needed to be comforted he found a timeline where his longtime wife y/n was alive so he could be grounded in this time of need, craving for her touch.
word count: 1511
warnings: pregnant reader! i repeat, pregnant reader, different timeline, a country life, reader obvi not knowing loki is impersonating….himself?, hurt/comfort<3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as the TVA slowly came to its downfall, loki, mobius and their friends all found there was possibly no other way to do things.
loki has manipulated his powers of skipping through time over, and over and over and every single time they went just how they did the first. loki was failing to believe there was hope in anything that existed.
while he sat with his hands on his head and his elbows sitting up on the desk in front of him he stressed and turned and pulled his mind to try his hardest to think of things while he still had plenty of time to save everyone.
mobius happened to walk in as he saw loki with nothing but the look of stress and couldn’t help but try and interfere.
‘so…what’s going on? why the long face’ he mumbled while pulling out the chair to sit next to loki who looked over at him with a small smile.
‘nothing…just trying to somehow understand…make sense of this all? understand what to do and how to change it’ he admitted. placing his hands down onto the desk as mobuis watched him.
‘well…sometimes things can’t be changed? sometimes things don’t have a answer and are better left without one…’ mobius told him while he always seemed like he tried to convince himself of his words.
‘no but…there’s always a way. there always is, i know it—‘
‘why do you believe that so strongly?’
‘because she told me so—‘ loki stressed, his forehead forming their lines of stress.
‘who?’
‘y/—‘ just as he said her name and thought of her face he cousins help but think of other things. was is possible that she was somehow still alive? on another timeline?
‘mobuis!’ loki hurried to turn to him, who gave a wide-eyed expression.
‘yes?’
‘i have to see her…she can help me—she will understand!’ loki hurried to stand up, taking out his tempad and switching though different timelines.
‘whoa—loki, you can’t just—‘
‘i’ll be back! i promise i just—i really need to see her, okay? i really need to’ loki silently begged mobuis who was slowly trying to believe and accept his decision. once he came with a conclusion he nodded with a sigh.
‘go ahead…and be right back!’
‘i will!’ loki yelled before looking up to see the yellow door.
once he walked through, Mobius stood by and waited.
‘i will!’ loki yelled before looking up to see the yellow door.
once he walked through, Mobius stood by and waited.
ㆍ୨୧ㆍ
just behind that yellow door in a wooden home with the beautiful view of trees, tall grass and even some horses. loki looked around a bit shocked to say the least, the y/n he knew from universes ago said she’d quote—
‘never live on a countryside cabin because it reminds me of the scary movie of cabin in the woods where everyone dies’
loki thought it was a bit funny but he didn’t beg her to move out of the city.
hesitantly loki shifted his clothes into something more simple and cleared his throat before combing his fingers through his hair.
walking up onto the wooden porch that was very spacious, it held two wooden rocking chairs and a small table in the middle of it with a cup of tea that looked to be recently drunk out of.
looking at the screen door that was followed with another door on the other said he opened the screen door and knocked on it.
heavily breathing with nothing but nervousness he cleared his throat again and waiting. he even heard a dog bark as he waited for the door to open. and oh boy—once it did.
another you came from behind the screen door with pajama pants on and a cropped shirt that looked a bit tight, as he looked down your figure he noticed a very prominent swollen belly.
you were pregnant?
‘loki? what are you doing here? I thought you just left?’ you wondered as you opened the door for him with a warm smile on your face.
he didn’t know what to say, he hasn’t talked to you since you left the avengers due to personal reasons. loki had knew where you were but didn’t want to bother you.
‘yes, i…well, i just thought i wanted to talk to you more’ he smiled down at you as you smiled and softly laughed with a shake of your head.
‘your so sweet, but we’ve talked all day—‘
‘i want to talk more’ he shrugged while you just laughed it off.
‘okay well; i was about to make dinner and your favorite dessert with some ice cream and (f/s) for the baby because she is every spoiled even before being born can your believe it?’ you laughed as you walked to the kitchen.
your little walk made him smile a bit at the fact the other you said you’d never get pregnant in a million years because life are little demons.
‘well, we need to give her any and everything she wants to stay happy, including you of course—‘
‘including me! that’s so sweet’ you teased once more with a tilt of your head and a smile.
he let the room fall silent for a bit before he remembered what was going on in the other world. sighing as he sat down in a chair you had noticed his face fall from his smile. frowning your eyebrows you walked over to him with bread in your hand as you ate it.
‘what’s wrong?’ you asked him while placing your hand down onto his face, soothingly moving your thumb under his eye.
he felt himself crumble, immediately. moving his head forward to press onto the side of your body he held his face there and let his arms hug your waist. you had felt his shoulder shake a bit which you immediately stuffed the rest of your bread into your mouth and sat onto his lap to completely wrap your arms around his shoulder.
‘oh, oh no—what’s wrong?’ you concerningly asked while hugging him as tight at you could without your stomach becoming smashed into him.
‘i don’t know? it’s just…i can’t think straight anymore like i used to and i don’t know what to do. the life i want seems to not want me and i can’t understand what i need to do’ he sighed while laying into you completely.
frowning your eyebrows and letting your eyes show sadness you shook your head a bit, forcing his head up gently.
‘you do know what to do loki. you know exactly what to do. how do i know? because i know you. i know that you always figure a way out and through, you always know what needs to be done and you know what is in store for you. your life is yours to shape, fate isn’t real, not with you around’ you smiled sadly as he let a tear drop.
leaning forward with nothing to say he let his lips smash against yours with nothing but love and passion. you were quick to reciprocate as you held the back of his head. letting your hand play through his hair.
he let himself fall into your neck as he inhaled your scent and hugged you tighter once more. giving him a kiss on the head as he closed his eyes, loki felt himself in complete comfort and control of his mind once more.
he didn’t want to leave. he never wanted to leave. maybe he could just send the loki you know and married into the portal and keep him there. letting the idea cross his mind he sighed and knew it was probably time to go since mobius was waiting with a open portal door in your yard.
sighing before he stood up he held your hand in his—‘i have to go back to where i said i was going…i’ve got to get that stuff we need—‘
‘ugh yes! before you do please please please! get the pickles with the cheese and hot sauce? i’ve been craving it since last night!’ you whined while holding your chin against his chest and looking up at him. he laughed and nodded while leaving down to hold your face between his hands and kissing your lips passionately once more.
you gave a smile before he walked out the door.
‘bye! come back as soon as you can okay? i need that food and a back massage’ you teased but with seriousness before winking as he nodded and let you shut the door.
when you did he sighed and closed his eyes to process what happened and how you’ve had a baby on the way. realistically speaking, the baby was his as well, so he thought of ways to come back and see the baby.
before he left of course he made the pickles, cheese and hot sauce appear on the pouch near the door for the other loki who may not have gotten the food you wanted.
walking to the portal, loki saw mobius who grinned.
‘get what you needed?’
‘of course, and i knew what we need to do, let’s go’

Some missed opportunities for Norse Mythology references in the Loki S2 Finale
I want to quickly preface this by saying the Loki show never claimed to be about or even incorporate more than passing nods to Norse mythology, so the following "missed opportunities" are more things that I think could have been cool and were perhaps within reach as references, but that even at my most wildly optimistic I didn't and still don't really expect because the show has been so very clear on this front. It's not fair to say these are flaws because the show never pretended to be about Norse mythology. NEVERTHELESS, because I'm a big nerd:
1) Ragnarok - All respect to Waititi and Thor III, it was a great interpretation of the myth, but I've always longed for something a little closer to the doom and mysticism of the mythology and the Loki S2 finale came tantalizingly close to invoking it, but fell short of actually using the word. Because Ragnarok isn't just about the fall of the gods, it's about the destruction and rebirth of the world. "After [the events of Ragnarok], the world will rise again, cleansed and fertile, the surviving and returning gods will meet, and the world will be repopulated by two human survivors."
Gee does that sound familiar! Almost like destroying all of the timelines to create them anew! Almost like that's what Sylvie was invoking by telling him it's better to accept destruction rather than accept imprisonment, and to build something new out of the ashes.
That's Ragnarok. That's literally Ragnarok and they invoked it in so many ways there short of actually using the damn word.
Loki, the god destined to bring about Ragnarok, proceeding to directly bring down the current timeline by destroying and then renewing it with a male and female survivor to help rebuild (visualized with Mobius and Sylvie's little chat at the end, even if it's the TVA they helped rebuild not the human population) sure does sound astonishingly close to invoking the story of Ragnarok.
And even though I'm bummed they never called it Ragnarok, I completely understand why! Ragnarok has kinda already happened in the MCU (never mind that Ragnarok itself is cyclical and will come again, but I digress)! I'd even go so far as to guess that earlier drafts probably did make it clearer but the thread, except for its bones and outline, were abandoned or left unnamed explicitly because it would be confusing for those not familiar with the myth or who would conflate Ragnarok with its Thor III invocation. Alas.
2) Loki bound - Already sort of invoked in Thor II with Loki imprisoned, which is why I don't think any more overt reference was made, but Loki was rather famously bound up in mythology. In this case, in a cave with a snake's poison dripping into his mouth. Not saying Loki bound to his throne of time needed to be conflated with how he was imprisoned until Ragnarok in the myhology, but the imprisonment parallel is there.
3) Loki becomes the new Odin, sacrificed upon Yggrasil - "The generally accepted meaning of Old Norse Yggdrasill is "Odin's horse", meaning "gallows". This interpretation comes about because drasill means "horse" and Ygg(r) is one of Odin's many names. The Poetic Edda poem Hávamál describes how Odin sacrificed himself by hanging from a tree, making this tree Odin's gallows. This tree may have been Yggdrasil." (source)
IE, Loki has sacrificed himself upon the world tree for power and knowledge and for the sake of the world. In this, unlike in the mythology where Loki is not Odin's son, Loki ascends to a parallel of his father's throne to follow in his legacy, having finally learned his father's lessons about rulership and self-sacrifice. Perhaps like the mythological Odin, we will learn that in making this self-sacrifice, Loki too has gained phenomenal knowledge and power?
4) Ratatoskr - This is more foward-looking and I don't in a million years think they'll do it but it would be so cool - so cool - if at some later point Loki has a friend or a servant or a squirrel form or idk, something that invokes Ratatoskr, the squirrel that lives in the World Tree and freely travels up and down its branches delivering messages. Please, MCU, give Loki a little squirrel friend??

Jet-Skiing through identity: A deep dive into Mobius M. Mobius (part 4)🛥️
"And I'm yours but you're not mine" (Say Don't Go)
That's Mobius in season 1, because from all we know, he was the one to fall first. A fall that, just like domino pieces, results in a beautiful union of...well, everything.
But now, in season 2, his love is finally reciprocated. He showed Loki something they hadn't seen in themselves. And not only he loved them, but proved to Loki why they're deserving of that love as well. And now that he is finally appreciated and seen by the last person he was expecting, he also gets the insight he never knew he was looking for. This is like always running from something right into the chasm, until someone takes your hand and makes you stop. Even if it means facing your fears.
Open first episode of season 2, when the entire Loki legion was on the verge of a heart attack waiting to see what will happen. (That's actually me, I think I'm not alone). Those were crazy times indeed. Now, to our Mobius: a relative present version of him, not the one that didn't recognize Loki. That was scary. His first line is:
<<Hey, everything you've been doing is wrong, and all your gods are dead. How are people gonna take that?>>
I interpret this as his own thoughts and feelings projected on the collective. It's true for them, but it's relatable to Mobius.
And after all, why would everyone at the TVA believe all this time? The same reason as why we do it: we want to: that's where it all starts. And for someone like Mobius, who didn't believe in himself, it was much more logical to believe in the time gods. Putting the blame on fate takes the burden off your shoulders. But no burden, no glory. Few of them had guts to admit. But even indirectly, Mobius did (and has been for a while).
Backing the argument that he cares about Loki, and that he fell first, his reaction to hearing his name from Casey is immaculate.
Tumblr media
He immediately tries to figure out a way to locate him. He might take a more "slow, deliberate approach", but not when he knows people he cares about are in danger. Not when he can still help.
Then, to X-5's attempt to make him feel bad about his spot on the original timeline, he responds with a neutral approach, not letting such things get to him. He even goes to explaining why jet-skis are so cool. This is something that shows how passionate Mobius can be about the things he likes. I don't think he would do this if he wouldn't be provoked in some sort of way, because the total absence of interest from others can kill a spark pretty quick. But he doesn't let it go just because no one around him sees jet-skis as important as he does. I love him for it.
His pure care for Loki and the way he comforts them the best he can is also very important in this episode. Mobius does his best to calm Loki down, trying to see the situation from an outside point of view so it can be solved efficiently. He's there, he doesn't let Loki down, and we know he would never; "Okay, you wanted time to think, so let's think." - as in let's think together, you're not alone.
Tumblr media
Also, when Loki rushes to find Sylvie so they can fix what is happening, Mobius slows him down. He knows Loki wouldn't take the time to take care of themselves, so he does it for him, knowing exactly how much to insist, and that the timeslipping can't be let out if control for a long while.
Another trait resulting from the episode is sort of a disapproval avoidance, from the convo with O.B. Mobius obviously had his memory wiped and doesn't remember him, but doesn't admit it: it could hurt this nice guy and make him look like a fool (it wouldn't, really. he didn't have to worry abt it).
Then, at the end of the episode, this care (LOVE!!!) he carries for Loki is once again is highlighted:
Tumblr media
Because, even at the risk of losing his skin (and, jokes aside, losing his life), Mobius still waits over the limit for Loki to make it back. What was I saying about believing? Even if the gods of the TVA are dead, the God of Mischief isn't. And Mobius always believed in him.

Seven Sentence Sunday
From this religious imagery/TVA propaganda fic I'm trying desperately to finish...
“I am just astounded at the work you’ve done here, and speaking with your task forces, reading their accounts of the matter, has only increased that astonishment,” Loki finally says quietly. “And I don’t…Mobius, there is no timeline, no universe in which I am deserving of that kind of devotion. I suppose I feel a bit of a fraud, when all is said and done.” Rather than immediately contradicting him, Mobius is silent for a moment; that analytical mind is one of the things Loki appreciates most about him. “It’s a funny thing,” he says at last with a wry half-smile. “Self-perception,” he then clarifies, as Loki’s brows knit in confusion. “Because don’t take this the wrong way, but you were always pretty damn sure you deserved to be King. To be worshipped.”
No-pressure tagging @lokimobius, @loki-is-my-kink-awakening, @insert-witty-user-name-here, @elodiah, @doomed-spectacles and anyone else who sees this, I'm horrible at remembering usernames. Whatcha workin' on?

loki season two is starting to be promoted and here’s your reminder NOT to watch it
the loki show did damage to not only loki’s character as a whole, but to bisexual and genderfluid people as well.
for years, loki has been a comic character that is well known for their bisexuality and genderfluidity. a huge component to this was the ‘loki: agent of asgard’ series written by al ewing (a personal favorite of mine). many queer people opened up their arms to welcome this representation. had i known i was bisexual at the time that mcu loki was my favorite character ever, i just know i would’ve been ecstatic, which i was when the first looks at season one came out.
the first red flag should’ve been when it was revealed that in loki’s tva files, his sex was labeled as “fluid” when it’s actually his gender. i remember people being skeptical and wary about it but continued to hope for the representation that the cast promised in interviews beforehand. (if anyone is able to find which interview this was in, please let me know so i could link it.)
then as the series went on for the next six weeks, hopes of there being representation dwindled. there was the line of “a bit of both” when sylvie asked if loki courted princes or princesses and he assumed it was the same for sylvie, which was SOMETHING at the time! people were happy… for the first few days or so. we quickly realized that this was probably disney’s way of telling but never showing considering their infamous prejudice against lgbt+ rep. it was quite literally the bare minimum — a throwaway line so to say that could easily be forgotten by the average viewer. i recall that lots of people were huge shippers of loki x mobius and thought that maybe, just MAYBE, there would be something more explicitly romantic between them and hey, maybe there will be in season two! but it’s disney. you can understand that there’s not a whole lot of hope.
then comes loki’s genderfluidity. to start off, the whole existence of sylvie is the most damaging. in agent of asgard, loki has confirmed that no matter how she presents, she is always loki. there’s no “female/lady loki”, it’s all JUST loki. so to change up loki’s name, bleach her hair, and contradict whether or not she IS actually loki throughout the show is… questionable.
the line of “have you ever met a woman variant?” was just insane writing. all lokis can identify/present as women if they please!!! their shapeshifting abilities give them an advantage of presentation being easy for them, but all in all, every single loki can canonically identify as a woman. when that line was delivered, all the other loki variants looked confused as if they didn’t know. loki’s genderfluidity was never at the forefront of the writers’ minds, writers that were caught to be fucking weirdos on twitter! you can find what old tweets i’m talking about on twitter… but i digress. why would the loki variants not know such an integral part of their identity?
and the KISS. THE FUCKING KISS. we’re not angry that loki kissed a female-presenting character instead of mobius like many wished, no no no that’s not the big issue because bisexuals should never have to prove their bisexuality to anyone and they can kiss whoever the hell they want. we’re angry because loki kissed a female-presenting variant of HIMSELF. all throughout the first season, the writers went out of their way to try to differentiate sylvie from loki despite sylvie having been born as a loki variant, but there’s literally no way to separate sylvie from their lineage because at the end of the day, that’s who she was born as. no amount of bleach will change that fact. (i hope i made this easy to understand; not a lot of people get why this is an issue.) and regardless of whether or not that kiss was romantic, the fact that it even HAPPENED was a slap in the face to genderfluid fans of loki, and if the leaks for season two are right, that whole thing between the two will be continued since most of the season one writers worked on season two as well.
on top of this awful rep, known abuser jonathan majors will be in season two as another kang variant. i’ve heard that marvel had bigger plans for him, but due to these allegations, they’re limiting his presence as seen in the trailer, obviously meaning that they know.
hence why i ask fans to boycott/simply not tune in for season two if you care about queer people. if you’re desperate to watch, at least don’t use disney+. just because s2d is gone doesn’t mean other websites don’t exist. i also recommend reading ‘agent of asgard’. if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me and please be respectful; your feelings about the show don’t dictate how hundreds of others feel, especially if their concerns are valid.

Lokius AU: Bewitched
Single dad Mobius is trying to raise his two sons the best he can ever since his wife ran off with another man.
Living in a suburban town where everything has basically been the same since as long as he can remember soon has a new shop opening up across from his Watercraft store. Him and the other towns people are unsure of how to feel about a “Magick” store open up shop there. To make matters more interesting Mobius finds out the supposed guy moved across the street, making Mobius afraid that his kids might get involved in “satanic rituals”. The neighborhood is afraid the new guy is some evil cultist trying to corrupt their town and he might be some freak.
One day when Mobius gets home from work he catches his sons playing with an Ouija board and is upset stating that it’s “dark stuff” and “evil” which he lectures them into telling him where they got it. Sean ratting out Kevin stating they went in to check it out and the owner sold it to them. Mobius furious about this decides to give the owner a “piece of his mind”. As soon as Mobius bust through the shops doors his plans change when he sees the hot middle aged goth man sitting on a stool at the counter with a name plate in cursive saying Loki. Unable to decide on rather he should scold the guy or ask for his number, he ask him for his boss who sold his sons an Ouija board to which the man admits it was him.
Loki admits to selling it to them and even apologizes stating he didn’t think it was an issue since they claimed they’re dad gave them the money for it and even offers him a refund. Möbius surprised at how sincere and generous Loki is even though Mobius originally planned on yelling/shouting at him feels bad and apologizes for making a big deal about it saying he shouldn’t have blamed it on him.
Both end up talking more and more to each other leading Mobius into realizing that Loki isn’t some satanic cultist creep who moved into the neighborhood but actually a good guy.
However over time Mobius realizes he might have fallen for Loki. Seeing him across the street practicing yoga/meditation in his yard, making candles in his garage, watching him across the street from his workplace drink tea and hearing him go on and on about the books he reads. All these things have been on his mind. But that isn’t all, he starts seeing Loki in his dreams and even has thoughts of Loki & him together. This has caused him to be distracted from work & at home.
At one point he gets the courage to ask Loki out which to his surprise Loki agrees. On their date Mobius sees Loki looking very “different” and dressed more feminine to which Loki tells Mobius that he is gender-fluid and goes by he/she/they pronouns. Being the suburban small town coast man he is, he isn’t used to this kind of stuff but is very accepting of it as regardless to what Loki is he finds Loki beautiful and amazing in every way.
The two move in together quite fast, and most of Möbius’s friends/colleagues think Mobius is head over heels for the tall gothic man. Some people have doubted that they are together seeing as how someone who is a typical dad trope is dating a literal tatted, goth guy.
To add Loki tells Mobius about his life before moving into Möbius’s neighborhood stating that he actually used to be a model and dated some asshole who called himself the “grandmaster”, he also mentions his strained relationship with his family and how he moved to start fresh away from all the negative attention/energy they were giving him. Mobius also opens up about his divorce stating he wished he was a better husband and he blames himself for his kids not seeing their mom (his ex wife left him & the kids to start a new life).
The two end up falling head over heels for eachother and end up getting engaged. Mobius always has to tell the story of how Loki “bewitched” him and put a “love spell” on him which makes Loki roll they’re eyes.
Hope you enjoy this AU, anyone can take it and do whatever with it. I might write this as a fanfic in the future tbh.

The Möbius Strip
A post-finale drabble because I’m in my feels and accidentally wrote myself further downward into my spiral so fair warning this is rough anyways enjoy x
••••••••
Things, as they have always seemed to do, grow further away from him now.
In this sense, Loki supposes not much has changed for him. He forgot for a moment, he thinks. Forgot how inescapable isolation was. Admitting to your fear of being alone is a sad, sad thing, especially when it does nothing to change the possibility of ending up alone anyway.
There was a time where being lonely, for him, was a result of being incompatible. He felt out of touch with the world, felt as though he were in a space he wasn’t supposed to inhabit. He was oil in water: resisted at the chemical level. And Thor tried his best, really. Loki spent a lot of years being painstakingly angry with his brother for not doing enough, but he did what he could. His father, he’s still unsure of. Asguard, he can’t say. But Thor did his best. Maybe it was just doomed from the start.
Now, on the other hand, his anger is gone. Much still burdens him, but unlike the rest of his life, it is a loneliness he can bear. Rotten, really. The loneliness is still so rotten. But he chose this rotten work. He chose it out of love.
Time is his purpose, both glorious and burdensome. But love is his reason, and there is no sense in purpose without a reason for fulfilling it.
So yes, in a way he likes what he’s doing now. He gets to witness all of time and life in the grasp of his hand, branching out and filling a cosmic expanse. Life courses and weaves itself around the crevices of his knuckles, and it’s heavy, Gods is it heavy, but it’s safe. They’re safe.
Still, it comes forth from him, not with him. He’s frozen, keeping a firm grasp on timelines which stretch into an abyss beyond his sight. As things branch out, they branch away.
All but one.
There’s a timeline which keeps getting out of line. Loki’s learned there’s a very specific, natural flow of all the timeline branches, how even in nature and space there are patterns which all substance must adhere to. Only one goes against the grain now. It takes a sharp turn and bows inwards, back towards Loki, shaped like a perpetually bent thread trying to tickle the skin of its wearer.
It’s a pesky little thing, really. It pulses with light, making it’s way upstream. The branch is never in any danger or peril, never hostile or erratic, but still subjecting itself to more struggle than is needed. Quite the fighter. It’s almost impressive.
Loki tries rather casually, without ever needing to move a muscle now (and Gods does he ever miss the days where he got his hands dirty, because he can practically feel his muslces atrophying now and it’s unbearably fatiguing) but all that gets him is a jolt to his nerves, a twitch in his heart as the bent branch reaches back towards him. Even though it doesn’t stop growing, it refuses to leave Loki’s side.
And then he hears it. A voice, soft and meant only for him, beckons him.
It starts off with a familiar phrase. “… Let time pass.”
Loki feels its familiarity before really registering the meaning of the words. He registers the gentle twang of a voice which has acted as a pillar for him more often than not, a single thread of sound from a pair of lips, a collection of vibrations tethered to him. Mobius.
And achingly, miraculously, it’s whispering his name.
Nothing else, really. There’s a long beat of silence which could be a couple of minutes or a dozen years. It’s hard for Loki to tell now. But no other words are uttered. Just his. His name. Loki.
“Loki,” Mobius’ voice whispers— over, and over, and over. “Loki… Loki… Loki…”
Loki’s bottom lip trembles, but he doesn’t dare try and answer. Not at first anyway. Who knows if it would even reach Mobius? Or any of the others, for that matter. Loki isn’t supposed to have contact. He doesn’t want to. Involvement was at the root of evil for He Who Remains. He Who Remains controlled and manipulated and picked a timeline of his own choosing, slaughtering the rest.
Only He Who Remains was Loki now, and Loki wouldn’t. Loki would never.
So he listens. He listens to Mobius calling out his name. Time passes. Everything in Loki is still, save for his racing, throbbing, breaking heart. And then, he watches.
He watches the timeline the voice is originating from as it refuses to branch away, as it grows inwards, deformed. And he tries to flick it away for its own good, but it stays there. So he watches it.
It starts to twist at a certain point. The torsion worries Loki at first. He needn’t worry. Mobius keeps calling his name, and somehow that’s proof enough that everything is okay. So still, Loki watches.

The timeline twists itself into a ring shape of sorts. Loki’s eyes never leave it, even with the strain of all other timelines in his hands and around his ankles. This rogue timeline creeps around his wrist and morphs itself into some donut shape, like a bracelet with a twist in it.
The twist is what intrigues Loki. Its ends press together— not firm enough to impede its process of infinite growth, but firm enough to make it seem like a closed shape— and expands slowly, shrinking slightly after a moment and then growing again, like a rising and falling chest which grows to the rhythm of Loki’s pulse. And as Loki stares at it, every fiber of its existence, he sees it.
The shape of it is recognizable, and only lasts for a moment. With the twist, the branch appears for a moment to be a single, never ending loop. A one-sided shape folded into eternity. Everlasting. Like love, he thinks. And that’s what it is: love.
A Möbius strip.
The timelines relaxes itself back into its standard pattern of growth almost as quickly and easily as it had transformed. No longer against the grain, it roams free again once Mobius goes quiet.
Loki, unflinching yet still letting a tears fall down his cheek, watches it unfold with reverence. Here lay Loki, the God of stories, keeper of all time, burdened with glorious purpose, and the whispering of his name nearly tempts him to his knees.
It’s important to know that he doesn’t give into that temptation. Loki remains firmly planted on his throne, head high and mind numb. If the branch’s momentary geometric performance was an expression of Mobius’ love for Loki, then Loki returns that love by never flinching. Everything relies on him never flinching, on keeping him frozen there, where all time begins and ends. If not for his own peace of mind, then for the happiness of his loved ones. For Thor, Sylvie, Ouroboros. And for Mobius.
He sits, still as rock, and suddenly isn’t lonely anymore. Mobius, whether he intended to or not, made his presence known to Loki, and that means more to him than Mobius will ever know.
Only then, when he collects himself and dries his tears, does he let himself whisper in return. “Mobius.”

a little tva au that lives in my brain so i guess this can live here too . notes under cut:
agent "blank", aka simply Agent -- a variant of my shield agent original character, a demolitions expert whose love of explosives is as vast as her patience -- that is to say, it's infinite, thanks to a quirk of her mutation. here at the time variance authority, this variant of agent primarily works in the testing field to try out new equipment developed by r+d. she's often sent out on assignments to prune branches, or sometimes simply to watch over new prisoners ( or new workers. perhaps both. ) often works with agent "sharp", but has been given work orders to keep an eye on loki here and there when he and mobius aren't busy working together. she is perhaps the only person who is endlessly patient enough to truly accept all of his antics... though she can tell there's clearly some sort of plot forming in their mind. namely, it seems like they have some sort of interest in agent sharp.
loki variant L327, "agent viathan" -- you know him. he is the loki of this blog's fame. obviously has a fair bit of similarity to the canon loki, though they're more willing to cooperate with the time variance authority in order to unravel the mysteries and secrets it holds. has agreed to take on a position as an agent / analyst for now in order to effectively schmooze his way into learning more information, especially after noticing strangely edited discrepancies when it comes to the tva's file on himself -- namely, the time he spent living in victorian london is partly missing. if the first season had been longer, i really wish it had shown us more of loki working with the tva and traveling with mobius in order to slowly learn more about sylvie / 'the variant's' plans. so here he is. his codename comes from the official loki arg that kind of went off the rails and became more or less defunct. we may never know what they were planning to do with that.
agent "sharp" -- ( a ) theo bell from loki: where mischief lies' fame. he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and now he's here for all time. always. he'd said it himself before: shakespearean love tends to end in tragedy. there was no place for theo on the sacred timeline -- if he had still been there when loki went back for him, it would have changed things irrevocably. the events of the mcu would likely never have happened, so he was taken by the tva. like other variant workers, he has no memory of his life other than being an agent, but certain little things still bleed through from time to time. he's met plenty of loki variants in his day -- this person, whoever they may be, seems cosmically destined to end up here -- but L327... they seem familiar for some reason. he doesn't know loki. but he feels like he should.

Like a shining angel at my cabin door
Loki  |    Loki/Mobius M. Mobius   |    Rated  M   |    c. 8100 words
The new guy is a wanker.
“He's not, though, Shaz,” Anna says, because she's so softhearted sometimes Shazia finds it sick-making.
“He is a bit,” Joel adds, which isn't a useful contribution to the conversation considering he spent half of last summer trying to get in Anna's pants. If he weren't the boss's son, Shazia wouldn't even bother talking to him.
“Or maybe he's the one making us look like wankers.” Anna gestures at the quay, where the new bloke is speaking calmly to a gaggle of teenagers down from London, the sort you know are going to go feral the moment they get out on the water. The sort who can't be trusted with a rubber dinghy, let alone anything with a motor. That's why there's an unspoken agreement that the shit clients at Salcombe Ocean Adventures always go to the new hires – toughens them up and weeds out the ones who can't deal with the demands of the job.
And of course it means the rest of them get out of dealing with them.
But this one? Shazia can tell he's got them eating out of the palm of his hand, the way he's been doing for the last few weeks. It's as though he's some kind of pied piper for posh city knobheads.
“How old is he anyway?” Joel asks, wrinkling his nose.
Anna shrugs. “Who can tell with Americans? The point is, he's had loads of experience.”
“Has he, though?” Shazia asks. “We're assuming he does because – well, old – but when I ask him where he came from and what he did before, he's vague as shit.”
“Maybe because your way of asking is like a police interrogation,” Joel mutters. Shazia shoots him a glare, and he purses his lips and quiets.
Anna shakes her head. “No, she's right about that. He doesn't say much about his past.” Glancing down the quay before leaning in, she murmurs, “I think he has a tragic backstory.”
“You what?” Shazia exclaims, which leads to a round of violent shushing from Anna.
“I mean,” Anna whispers, “I think something terrible happened in his past. Like maybe his family died in a car accident or something.”
“Christ,” Joel says. “You think so?”
“Well,” Anna says, biting her lip. “Maybe not. But he's at least a widow? Wait, it's different if it's a man, right?”
Shazia sighs. She doesn't have the faintest idea why Anna has such a hold on her. Swear down, her crush on this girl is the most fucking annoying fact of her existence. “A widower. And what on earth makes you think that?”
Anna watches John head off down the quay with his new charges in tow – and honestly, that's another bloody thing, what kind of name is John August – and says, “I asked him a couple of weeks ago why he decided to come to Devon, of all places. And he paused for the longest time and said, 'The accents remind me of someone I used to know.'”
Shazia raises her brows, waiting for the punch line. Anna raises her brows back.
“That's it?” Joel asks, beating Shazia to it again.
“It was the way he said it,” Anna says, clearly starting to get exasperated. “Like – he had one good thing and now it's gone. And – like he doesn't especially care where he is. Because maybe he doesn't belong anywhere else.”
Shazia sucks in a breath, because – alright, there. That's why.
“Oh, fine,” she huffs, as Joel's mum emerges from the office and starts making the windmilling gestures with her arms that means their break is most definitely over. “Come on, let's get back to it.”

You hurried to the locker rooms, unable to contain the excitement and the butterflies in your stomach. You stowed your helmet then your vest inside the locker and hung your baton and TemPad on the door.
“Where are you off to in a hurry?” Hunter D-72 asked. “You’re having another date with your mystery man again, aren’t you?” she said as she took her armor off. You just smiled, buttoning down your shirt and smoothing over you’re A-line skirt. “Bless the Time Keepers! How long have you been here and you already got a boyfriend? I’ve been here two years! Two. Long. Mother fuckin’ years! And had no one looking at me!” You laughed as you buckled your heels into place.
“I’m just lucky I guess. It wasn’t like I was looking for someone. He just kinda…found me.” You smiled at her.
“Well, does he have a friend? You know what, never mind. If they ain’t a hunter, I don’t want ‘em. I don’t want any pencil pushers. Keepers know this agency’s got enough of ‘em.” You placed your hand on her shoulder as a way of solidarity and goodbye then started off.
She was right though. Being a hunter for the TVA had a different lifestyle. It was suspenseful and required long gritty hours. You were often the first on the scene and the first ones to bring back any variants that you captured. So like tends to like as most of the hunters get together and a lot of the ‘pencil pushers,’ as you guys like to call the analysts, stay within each other’s company too.
But your boyfriend was different. He wasn’t an analyst or a hunter. He had a name. Only the higher-ups ever get a name. He was also a variant - the only variant in the TVA.
A dangerous one, so Loki himself says. Mobius says he’s more like a kitten with a tiger’s growl, and you would have to agree.
Most variants end up being reset. You had no idea how Loki had managed to keep himself from being pruned and stay here working with the TVA.
You supposed his charm had a lot to do with it. You first met each other while accompanying Mobius to capture one of Loki’s more dangerous variants.  Mobius wanted you and your team to secure the perimeter while he gathered temporal evidence. You could tell right away that Mobius was agitated at seeing you. He was hurried in giving you instructions. As if he wanted you to leave his presence immediately before Loki came.
Sure enough, that was when Loki showed up through the TemPad portal. Mobius had a look of defeat and resignation in his eyes as Loki came up to you.
Loki couldn’t keep his eyes off of you. He stumbled on his words. Not listening to Mobius and often having to ask him to repeat himself. While Mobius begrudgingly collected his temporal evidence, Loki followed you like a lost kitten, securing the perimeter.
That was three months ago. Loki had asked you out to lunch, and since then you’ve been joined at the hip whenever either of you was free.
A hand grabbed you from behind, halting your musings, and pushed you against a dark corner of the hallway. You tried to scream and fight as they covered your mouth and pressed up against you.
“Shh. Shh. It’s me.” Loki said letting go of your mouth.
“Loki! Don’t sneak up on me like that!”
“Hello there, darling,” Loki said as he kissed you passionately. You wound your arms around his neck, pulling him closer while giggling like a schoolgirl about to get caught. “I’ve missed you terribly.”
“And I, you,” you said giving him one last kiss on his soft lips. “So what are we going to do tonight?”
“I thought we could do the usual? Movie. Popcorn. Obscenely making fun of the stupidity that people get themselves into.” He said with a laugh. “But with a twist.”
“Hmm. Does that twist end up with us naked by the end of the night?” You asked unashamedly.
“Good Fates, I hope it does!” he leaned over you for another kiss, grinding you against the wall. “Come on. I want to show you something.”
Tumblr media
He led you to Time Theater 18, where he set up a comfy-looking couch, large enough to be a bed. It was bedecked with pillows, a blanket, and a small tray of food to the side. “Where did all this come from?” you asked, wide-eyed and excited.
“I had to pull a few strings.”
“Casey?”
“Casey!” Loki nodded. “I thought we could…watch this tonight.” Loki handed you a film reel marked “ETH-616/Loki Laufeyson.” You looked up at him concerned.
“Loki. This is your life.”
“I know, darling. Like I said, ‘the stupidity that people get themselves into.’ Come.” Loki took back the reel and bade you sit down while he set up the projector.
“Are you sure, Loki? You know, we could just talk and I can ask questions to get to know you. Like a normal couple would. You don’t have to do this.” You underhandedly joked. You were always curious about his life. But you figured that both of you had enough time to learn about each other.
“When have we ever been a conventional couple? Plus, I’m ready for you to get to know me. All of me.” He said as he took a seat next to you. A warm blush rose in your cheeks and traveled throughout your body. He was purposely letting himself be vulnerable with you. Your heart sparked new love as you settled next to him on the couch. His arm over your shoulders and your head on his chest.
The film started with Odin finding a baby Loki on Jotunheim. “Awe, look at you! You were so cute as a baby!” you squealed with delight. “Wait! Why is Odin taking you? Is he kidnapping you?” You screamed with horror.
“You know, to this day, I have no idea why he took me.” His voice was laced with pain and sorrow. How would Loki’s life differ if he had stayed in Jotunheim? If Odin had just left him?
Although, if Odin did forsake Loki, he would be the one taken by the TVA. I suppose it had to happen.
“You were a treasure. Odin knew it and saw it. He would be a fool not to take something as valuable as you.” You said, patting his chest. Loki smiled at you, a small thank you for your kind words.
You tried to appease Loki. But secretly, you wished that Odin would accidentally fall onto something sharp, preferably your blade, while you were holding it.
“Let’s fast forward a bit shall we?” Loki took the remote and forwarded the projection. It stopped with Thor running through the gardens of Asgard.
“Guys wait up,” Thor said as he tried catching up to two other boys. One with unruly red hair and the other, a sleek blonde. They all looked to be about eight or nine.
“That’s Fandral. And the rather portly one is Volstagg.” Loki said pointing to the two boys respectively.
“Fandral? Volstagg? What kind of names are those?”
“Asinine ones,” Loki said derisively, taking a handful of popcorn.
Fandral had stopped and yelled, “Come on. We’ll miss it.” Thor bent down to catch his breath, placing his hands on his knees.
“Awe, poor god of thunder out of breath?” Loki criticized, stuffing popcorn into his mouth.
Something shiny glistened in Thor’s peripheral vision. He looked over to see a beautiful emerald snake slithering out of the tall grass.
“Is that you? That’s you, isn’t it? Fifty credits say that’s you.” You exclaimed.
“Hello there, beautiful,” Thor said to the snake as he got closer. The snake continued to slither across the path, eager to get to the other side.
“Leave me alone! I’m just a poor venomous snake, minding my own business.” Loki mocked in a high-pitched voice, making you giggle in your seat.
Thor wasn’t having that. He wanted to play with it. He wanted to see the iridescent scale catch the sunlight. “I love snakes. Would you like to be my pet, dear snake?” Thor said aloud. “Come on Thor! We’re gonna miss it!” Volstagg yelled out.
“Volstagg couldn’t wait for that damned buffet at the great hall!” Loki remarked.
“In a minute!” Thor went to grab the snake that was almost to the dense grass on the other side. As soon as he picked up the snake, it wound itself around his arm and bit him. Thor let out a loud yell as smoke began to blow all around him. “Yaaah. It’s me.” You heard Loki’s young voice through the smoke. Thor’s grip only got tighter around Loki’s arm. “Unhand me!” Then you saw him take out a small dagger and stab Thor in the hand, releasing his grip.
“I knew it! I knew it was you!” you said proudly.
“Well done, darling,” Loki said kissing your temple. “I don’t have credits. But perhaps I could pay you with something else?” He said as he peppered kisses onto your face, making you laugh.
“Loki!” Thor yelled in anger. Loki only laughed. “Serves you right! Picking up strange creatures you know nothing about.” Loki continued his way through the grass as if he didn’t just stab the future king of Asgard.
“I can’t believe you stabbed him!” You laughed as you playfully hit Loki on the shoulder.
“Serves him right. The boy had too many pets already. Why in the heaven’s would he want another snake?”
The night continued on, with Loki skipping to different parts of his life. When he got to the Battle of New York. You had booed when the Avengers came on the screen and defeated Loki, throwing popcorn at the projection.  “They’re a construction worker short of becoming the next Village People.” You said and Loki laughed.
He jumped forward again to a scene where he was put in a cell for his crimes against Midgard. A cloaked figure came to visit him. You couldn’t see their face, only that Loki had looked at them fondly.
“Ooh, who is that mystery person?”
“No one. Let’s just skip to the next scene, shall we?”
“Loki. It’s ok if it’s a past love. I’m fine. I understand. I wouldn’t hold that against you. I’ve had previous lovers before too. We’re together now. That’s all that matters.” You tried to soothe.
“Loki what have you done?” The figure said forlornly. Their voice sounded so familiar. “Took you long enough!” he spat out in his cell. “Ashamed to be connected to the disgraced prince of Asgard? Is that why you haven’t come to visit me sooner? Have you come to renounce our marriage?” Loki’s tone was acerbic and hurtful. “No, Loki, I have not! Odin has purposely kept me away from seeing you. I’m only here because Frigga has snuck me in. I needed to see you.” “Why? So you can tell me how stupid I was for trying to invade Midgard?” “To tell you that I loved you! I love you still.” The mystery person’s hood fell as she yelled. Revealing your face. “I mourned you!”
You gasped aloud in the theater. Seeing your face on the projection. What does this mean? Am…I a variant?
Loki had just watched you this whole time. He was so brave at the beginning of the night. He was so sure that he was ready for you to learn about this. But the closer you got to certain parts of his life, he started to question whether this was the right thing to do. To tell you the truth. You were blissfully happy living in ignorance. Would he be cruel to take that away from you?
“I mourned you, Loki. I thought you had died. I cried in the arms of your mother every night since you left. And when you came back, not a word, a single note to say you were alright or that you had thought about me. I had to watch you try to take over Midgard. What happened, my love? Why?” you yelled. “My loyal Sigyn. I did this for us.” “Lies! You did this for yourself. You know all I ever wanted was to be by your side. Whether you were a prince or a pauper.” “What good would a pauper do to help you? To give you what you needed?” “Was my love not enough?” “Was mine?!” he yelled back. “It was everything.” You answered back in a soft voice.
You looked to Loki. His eyes never left your face, watching you as you watched the screen. Tears glistened at the corners of his eyes, threatening to fall.
“How long have you known?” you whispered.
“Since I first saw you. Mobius was quite angry at the turn of events. I don’t think he anticipated you showing up. He tried to dangle your presence in the TVA as bait for me to cooperate. So when I finally did see you, he knew he had to find something else to motivate me in compliance.” Loki admitted.
That explains Mobius’s sharp behavior that night. “He knows we’ve been seeing each other. He’s keeping it a secret from Ravonna. So we can continue to be together.”
“Wh…Why would she care?” you asked confused.
“Because we’re both variants.”
“But if I’m a variant then everyone else is a variant too! This whole place is a lie!”
“Shh. Darling, please. It’s the only way we could be together.” He begged you. “We’ll both be pruned if they know that we know. You must keep it a secret!”
“Loki. Is this more of your lies?”
“No, my dear Sigyn. No more lies. Not for you. That’s why I wanted to tell you.”
“Sigyn? Th-that’s not my…my designation is Hunter L-52! I – I can’t. I have to get out of here.”
Loki let you go. Watching you leave him alone as the projection on the screen replayed his last dying breath to the Mad Titan.
Tumblr media
Loki found you in a time theater watching a projection of your life. You had stacks of reels next to you. ETH-616/Sigyn Laufeyson. ETH-507/Y/N Laufeyson. ETH-199999/Y/N Y/LN.
It had been days since he last saw you. He wanted to give you space. To deal with it in your own way. Until Mobius had alerted him to what you were doing.
“Darling.” He called out. He stood next to you as you sat there continuing to watch yourself on the screen.
“It’s our wedding day. I was so nervous that you wouldn’t show up. Thor and The Warriors Three took you out the night before for a surprise stag party. Lady Sif had to reassure me by supplying me with mead.” You laughed at the memory you never had. “Good thing we Asgardians have a good constitution against alcohol, right?”
“I’m sorry my love. I never meant for you to go through this alone.” Loki said.
“Why? Why tell me now?”
“Because you had a right to know. Most importantly, because I made a promise that you were the one person I would never lie to.”
“Am I even your person? Who am I? There are so many variations of me.”
“My Sigyn died in my timeline. Protecting the Queen and Jane Foster from the dark elves’ attack on the palace. I led them straight to her. And I regret it every day since.”
“Is this some sick way for you to liberate yourself from that guilt?” You asked angrily.
“No, darling.” Loki knelt in front of you, seeing you eye to eye, blocking your view of the video playing on the wall. “I never expected to see you again. I accepted it as my punishment. And when I did see you. I vowed to never take it for granted. I know you are not my Sigyn. And I am not your Loki. But if watching any of these reels have shown you, I hope it has shown you that I am completely and madly in love with you.
“No matter what version or form you take. No matter who you may be or become. That no matter what your name is, no matter what happens, you will always be my Sigyn.” Loki cupped your cheek and brought your crying face closer to his. He kissed your tears. One on each cheek. “I will always find my way to you.” Then sought your lips.
His kiss brought on a new meaning now. It has depth and history. A complete feeling of the soul finding soul. You didn’t realize the depth of emotion and affection it had until now.
You cried harder into his kiss, hugging him tighter, feeling at home. “What happened to me? How come I can’t remember my past life? Was I reset?”
His eyes grew heated and his demeanor changed to that of a betrayed and tyrannical king. “Yes, darling, you were. And I will burn this place to the ground, the Time Keepers along with it, for having touched you.”

Loki S2 E3 Spoilers Ahead!
My thoughts while watching the episode for the first time:
Is that him as a kid?
I considered for a hot second that Loki might be that horse.
There is never a moment too dire for Mobius to grab a snack, and I relate to that on a deep and personal level.
Boy, Marvel will do anything to plaster their name on screen as much as possible.
*science mumbo jumbo*
I think this variant has gotten himself electrocuted one too many times.
I wouldn’t be standing right in front of that, my dude.
Well, yeah, now he’s giving off more ‘take over the world’ vibes. Proper Frankenstein over here.
Prototype? Yeah, no kidding. That thing let off a few bright sparks and then just died.
Mustache guy looked so scandalized, I can’t  😭😭😭
“Hornswoggler”? That is my new favorite word.
Is that an offer or a threat? Sounds more like a threat.
Where can I get myself a guy who will pass out money at the snap of my fingers???
I know it’s loud in there, but is no one else hearing the talking purse?
Nice cover, Mobius.
Oop. Old hornswoggler is back and wants a refund. I’m shocked. The machine looked so impressive just… fizzling the way that it did.
This has very quickly become a Charlie Chaplin sketch.
Okay, first of all, Mullet Hair, can you chill??? Killing the same dude over and over and over again is not gonna secure free will for people! Can we discuss? For even just a millisecond?! Are we able to think through our actions?
He ruined your life? Listen here, Sylvie; while you’ve been living it up at McDonalds, the universe has been falling apart! Think outside yourself for two seconds!
His face! 💀💀💀
Are these two seriously having a moment? Cease and desist immediately.
“A long time ago-“ in a galaxy far, far away. No, wait; wrong franchise.
That’s your biggest takeaway? Seriously?
“Rat bags”? Mustache Man is just full of zingers!
Did Loki literally just run in a circle??
Ooh, Miss Minutes is a bit snappy. She really wants everyone to know how clever she is.
Oh my gosh, they are not cramming another slapdash love story into the show 😫 I do not care about this! I came here to see Loki! Every second he’s not on screen, a little part of me dies…
Miss Minutes in the background: 😞
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
I have a feeling Renslayer is suddenly gonna be much more amenable to joining Loki and Mobius now.
All those mannequins are so creepy.
A Rolodex? That’s his life’s work?
Okay… this just got weird on so many levels.
OKAY THIS JUST GOT SUPER WEIRD! 🚩‼️🚨 IF SHE POSSESSES ONE OF THOSE MANNEQUINS I AM SO OUTTA HERE
🎶 People always told me, be careful of what you do, don't go around breaking young girls' hearts. And mother always told me, be careful of who you love.  And be careful of what you do, ‘cause the lie becomes the truth - hey hey!🎶
Dude, how did she even get here?
*dramatic entrance at the perfect time*
Mobius, look at her! I don’t think Ravonna is in the best headspace rn.
How many people are gonna barge in here??? Does he have any security at all? Even a single lock?
Also, are we really doing this again? This episode is bloated with will they/won’t they moments. It’s a “won’t” from me. I’ve decided.
The hair! 😍💯
So is Loki just gonna lie there and watch, or…?
So everyone gets free will but him? How do you know he won’t make better choices? He can’t be the one singular person in all of existence that is fated to be something specific!
Okay now I’m starting to feel a little bad for him.
“I can make my own choices.” That’s what I’m saying!
Who put Sylvie in charge? I’m sorry, but last time I checked, Loki doesn’t answer to you!
Seriously? You’re just abandoning her there??? Murder was a bad thing two seconds ago and now you’re both chill about it?
Aww, poor Sylvie. She really is the greatest victim in all this. How dare she be forced to decide to obsess over something 🙄
Yeah, I’m not sure sticking the two of them together is a good idea. I mean technically he’s dead, but what has that ever meant in the MCU?
Oooh, never mind - he’s dead dead. …Well, even so. Loki’s come back from worse.
Can any of these characters just pick a side?! Stop betraying each other so often; I can’t keep up! Who’s working with who???

Rewatching Loki for Unhinged Analysis Reasons
Spoilers for both seasons of Loki and Loki: Agent of Asgard.
So I did something a tad video essay YouTuber-ish. Except that I am not a video essay YouTuber. I write print essays, and as you may know if you’ve read some of them, I am not great at organizing said essays. I rewatched all two seasons of Loki for the main purpose of documenting every single interaction B-15/Verity has in the show, paying particular attention to whether a character in the scene lies and how B-15/Verity reacts when they lie. I also took into account the context of the lie, if the characters (either B-15 or the speaker) already knew they were lying, and how believable their lying was. For the purpose of determining whether or not I can feasibly say that MCU Verity Willis can canonically detect lies. (And I will be referring to B-15 exclusively as Verity in this post.)
Now, I want to preface this analysis by saying I am not determining whether the writers intended for her to have this power, or even if she was always meant to be revealed to be Verity from episode one. In my opinion, I don’t think they knew her backstory in episode one (I don’t even think they’d planned it out at the point Sylvie gives B-15 her memories in episode 4, personally). I also don’t think they even intended to retcon her having the ability in season two once they’d decided to slip in the reference to the comics in the form of her name. In terms of authorial intent, no, I don’t think she’s meant to have this ability.
But here’s the thing. I don’t give a shit. I’m gonna play in the sandbox. Fuck authorial intent.
The first thing I learned is just how upfront and straightforward everyone is with each other? For an institution with multiple brain-breaking, plot-twisting reveals within the series that these people have been lied to, they don’t lie to each other very often. For a show starring the literal god of lies, even he doesn’t lie that much to these people. Most interactions with Verity result in all characters being honest with one another. They may not say something that’s true, but what they do say they believe to be true, which Verity might not necessarily pick up as a lie. Everyone at the TVA (except perhaps Miss Minutes, but I have no comic evidence that Verity can detect lies from AI) believes the same lies for most of the first season, so there’s no reason to question why Verity would not have worked out the truth prior to the events of the show.
So the first time we get a lie in Verity’s vicinity is in episode 2, when they take Loki with them to Oshkosh, and Loki tries to stall for time by spewing bullshit. And she does a lot during this. She continually rolls her eyes and interrupts to try to get Mobius to stay on task. When Loki says “It’s a trap,” she rolls her eyes and shifts her feet like she can sense the lie in his words. When Mobius finally determines that Loki is lying, she makes a face like she already knew it. This moment leads her to determine that Loki is a lying liar and Mobius is not able to come to that conclusion quickly enough. So when they get to Haven Hills, she makes Loki go with her so she can keep an eye on his lying liar ass. Because she can tell when he’s lying.
In episode 3, we have a brief interaction in the hallway between Verity and Mobius. She asks him what Loki said to him (because she can tell he’s behaving weirdly with all this stalling). Mobius tells her “He said the TVA is lying to me.” This situation where someone brings up what someone else said in front of Verity happens at least one other time. And I’m not actually sure if she can sense if someone is lying based on a paraphrase of their words from someone else. The way Verity reacts to this statement would imply that she can, because she seems to be able to sense that Loki isn’t lying, but she was also controlled by Sylvie at Roxxcart and is currently grappling with a confusing glimpse into her past. So it may be that she’s trying to get an idea of what just happened based on whatever Loki’s said, and it’s unclear if what he told Mobius is something she can interpret as the truth or if her abilities don’t work that way. (Maybe she was hoping Mobius would tell her Loki told him nothing, because if Mobius lies to her, she can tell and can glean some information from that. But maybe she can only tell that Loki did indeed say this, and not whether or not he was lying when he said it.)
So finally Verity makes the decision to just confront Sylvie directly. This is really the ultimate point that convinces me. It could be argued that Verity needs Sylvie to actually use her magic to prove that she can restore Verity’s memories, but I genuinely think she takes Sylvie at her word. The moment when she demands Sylvie show her is when she makes the decision that she wants her past back. By this point, she already knows Sylvie’s telling the truth that everyone at the TVA are variants, and that she didn’t plant memories in C-20’s mind. All she needed was for Sylvie to say so directly to her. Her powers would do the rest.
At the end of this episode, she meets back up with Loki and Sylvie to lend them assistance in the room with the Timekeepers. She gets knocked unconscious almost immediately after, so she doesn’t have a chance to sense the Timekeepers are fake and warn them.
We see her again in episode five in a time prison. Renslayer has gone to interrogate her, and the second Renslayer lies to her, Verity knows it. Renslayer does make a slight expression that might give her away, but it is very brief, and it could still be argued that Verity picks up on the lie rather than the subtle tell.
We don’t get another situation of needing her detection skills until the season two premiere. It’s not a lie this time, but in the past TVA, when they’re chasing Loki, Loki insists that he knows Mobius. There isn’t a really visible reaction from Verity, but we also don’t get a good look at her face, so maybe she makes a face when she realizes he’s telling the truth even though that doesn’t make sense.
Then we have an interaction in the present with X-5 making fun of Mobius. Mobius doesn’t quite pick up on it right away, but Verity does make a face like she’s aware X-5 is not being genuine. Outside of the War Room, D-90 tells Mobius “I was just doing my job,” which isn’t exactly an apology about pruning him. And, yep, Verity gives him an eyebrow lift like, Sure, save it for Nuremberg.
Episode two, an excellent example of her possible skills. When asking Brad questions, an interesting dimension to her abilities comes up: Do people at the TVA know she can detect lies, or at least that she’s really good at sensing when someone’s lying? When they first ask about the TemPad, X-5 states the obvious without exactly answering their question, either truthfully or otherwise: he says something like, “I put some colorful buttons on it for you.” When they ask what he’s been doing, he says “Making movies.” Verity snaps, “Don’t waste our time” so lightning quick that it feels like she’s sensing a lie rather than just assuming he’s being an ass on purpose. When they ask again about the TemPad, and Brad says, “It blocks your trackers,” she twitches. Like they already knew this, Casey already told them that, but it’s the fact that she visibly reacts to this lie. Just because she already knows it’s a lie doesn’t mean her ability turns off.
The interrogation shifts hands, and Brad now holds the reins. So now Verity’s reactions are in response to her current coworkers (you know, the ones not currently in a shock collar). Loki pretends he’s going to attack Brad in response to his taunts. Verity doesn’t look super comfortable with Loki’s tactic here, but she also doesn’t seem to buy his act. She doesn’t step in, she doesn’t warn Loki the way Mobius does. So then Brad turns his attention on Mobius. Mobius continues to act really chill about not knowing his past, but then it cuts to Verity, and she is not buying it one bit.
The next time we might have gotten a chance to see Verity’s powers is in episode 4, when Dox and her followers are in the interrogation room (I’m not sure what we’re calling that room). Verity point-blank asks Dox, “Can I trust you?” And what I find very interesting about this exchange is that Dox doesn’t answer. In fact, she avoids answering any direct questions Verity poses to her. Almost as if she knows something about Verity’s abilities, like Brad when they first ask him about the TemPad, and isn’t going to bother giving her any information. Whether she’s honest or not, it won’t matter; Verity would know the correct answer anyway.
So we have two moments on the timeline in episode five that are of note, but I’m going to hold off on discussing the first for a moment. When the TemPad spaghettifies, Loki and OB accuse Casey/Frank of stealing it (where he’s going to hide a Gen 1 laptop-size device where they can’t see it, I don’t know). He insists he didn’t take it, and this would have been a great time to cut to Verity (or not, if she didn’t react). But we don’t, so we don’t get to see if she knows he’s telling the truth. I’ve also seen people try to draw on the scene in the doctor's office, too, as potential evidence, but there’s none here, guys. The girl never lies to her (as far as we can tell). It’s not even a matter of Verity knowing her warning on the girl’s cast won’t stop her from climbing trees. For one thing, do injuries ever stop children? That girl is about to go home and try to climb that same tree one-handed, for sure. But something else I noticed on my rewatch, Verity barely finishes writing out the warning before the girl is already shaking her head. Verity doesn’t even have to guess (let alone detect a lie that wasn’t even there in the first place); the girl outright tells her there isn’t a chance in hell she’s gonna listen to that.
So now we’re at the end, the last episode. We have two moments where her detection skills (or lack thereof) can be analyzed (or not). At the end of the first time loop, with the loom, Timely says that the trouble with the loom is a scaling problem. Later, we find out from He Who Remains that this isn’t true. It’s never explicitly stated whether Timely was lying in this moment or just didn’t understand (though for my money, given Timely’s character up until this point, even though he is a Kang variant, it’s my opinion he was telling his understanding of the truth here). Even if Timely is lying, we don’t get to see Verity’s face in this moment to gauge her reaction. Finally at the end, after Loki saves the timelines and the TVA begins to reform itself, Verity approaches a very out-of-it looking Mobius, and asks if he’s okay. He’s clearly not, so even if he said he’s fine, this woman who’s worked with him for who knows how long could probably tell he’s full of shit even if she can’t detect lies. But what feels telling to me is that he doesn’t lie. He doesn’t even tell the truth. He straight-up doesn’t answer her question and jumps straight to business. Regardless of whether Verity’s coworkers have always known about her abilities (and I’m gonna talk about that in a minute), I think this exchange shows that at least Mobius has been made aware at this point.
So before I get to my conclusion, I’m going to talk about the two moments in the series that could disprove that Verity can detect lies in the MCU. The first occurs in season 1, episode 4, when speaking to Mobius. She asks him if there is any news on C-20, and he says no. This is after he has already been to Renslayer, who has told him that C-20 is dead, but told him to keep it a secret. Verity shakes her head in response, but it doesn’t seem like an “I don’t believe you” head shake, more like “This shit is crazy, what happened to her” head shake. She seems to buy his very outright lie. This is not implicative or dancing around the truth. Mobius doesn’t decide not to answer, like he does at the end of the series. She asks a direct question, and he gives a direct answer that he knows is not the true answer. And she seems to buy it. I don’t have a counter-counter argument for this; this is just a point against the theory, unfortunately.
The second problem occurs in season 2, episode 5. After everyone except Sylvie has gathered in OB’s lab-turned-squatting situation, she picks up one of OB’s novels and starts to read it. It’s canon in the comics that her ability prevents her from enjoying fiction, because she is incapable of suspending her disbelief long enough to watch a movie or read a book. She reads physics textbooks for pleasure, because it’s the only reading she can handle. At the end of AoA, while Loki is undergoing ego death, she is finally able to start to stomach fiction. But it’s implied (or maybe outright states, I don’t fully remember and I don’t have access to my book right now) that knowing and befriending Loki is what changed this for her. In the show, Verity has just met Loki, so being able to read fiction would not yet be a possibility for her comic counterpart at this point in knowing him. This counter argument, thankfully, can possibly be refuted in a few ways. One, she doesn’t get very far in the book it looks like, maybe a couple of pages. So maybe she’s able to handle the first few pages (hell, maybe the first few pages were part of an author’s note about the science involved. That she could handle). Another option is that OB is having a lot of trouble selling his books, and maybe that trouble is that they are so dense in the science part that they’re dull and unapproachable for just about everyone else. But for someone who can only stand to read science books, this is perfect. Maybe the MCU said fuck it, she can read fiction, who cares. Only one person has the time and energy and encyclopedic knowledge on AoA to call us on it and we don’t give a shit what they think anyway. And that’s a fair assessment. Maybe the writers continue to only do cursory research and don’t know this about Verity. It wouldn’t be the first example of this. Does no one have Al Ewing on speed dial? And finally, (though even I doubt this) maybe she’s pretending to read so she doesn’t have to talk to any of these weirdos. She seems pretty friendly and able to interact with people (which is different from her comic personality), so I don’t think she would pull an introvert’s attempt to avoid socializing.
So, counterarguments aside, let’s get into the conclusion of this three-day study. Given the number of interactions where she does seem to react correctly when people are or are not lying to her, I would say there is enough evidence for me that she can detect lies in the MCU. Her restless body language and eye rolls whenever someone lies in her vicinity, the fact that she takes Sylvie at her word about the memories, the way multiple characters in season two avoid answering her questions directly. It isn’t always overt or explicit, and certainly not as clear as it is in the comics, but of course I stated at the top the reason for that (if you don’t want to scroll all the way back up, I don't think the writers did this on purpose, I’m overanalyzing for fun and there’s not enough evidence to disprove it in any case). But my conclusion is my girl still has her powers. (And there’s nothing Marvel can say to convince me otherwise, because I don’t care what they think.)
Now the other question is, does the TVA know? I think at least He Who Remains knows and that may in part be the reason she was chosen. I don’t think most others at the TVA know or at least believe her. But something happens between season one and two, or at least towards the end of season two. If the “evidence” were more obvious, I’d say the writers intended for Verity to be able to detect lies suddenly, but I’d need more from her reactions, or an explicit statement from her that she can do this. More characters in season two try to hide the truth from Verity but without outright lying to her, almost as if they know she can tell when they’re lying. So I think they either don’t know Verity can detect lies, don’t believe her, or assume she’s very intuitive rather than actually possessing a superpower. In season one, most of her coworkers don’t have any reason to lie to her because they’re all on the same side. But in season two the TVA is starting to fracture into factions, and at the end we have Mobius not wanting to admit the toll losing Loki has taken on him. And by season two Verity has her memories back and the others know (especially those who try to avoid directly answering her queries: Dox, Brad, Mobius) they’re variants. I don’t think Verity ever doesn’t know she can do this; this isn’t an ability you can turn on and off or activate voluntarily. If you can fly and you lose your memories, you likely won’t recall you have that power until you regain that memory or possibly if you get thrown off a building and by some instinctive reflex manage to catch yourself. Verity cannot turn off her power, which is why in the comics she can’t engage with fiction and avoids social interaction whenever possible (even going so far as to make sure her job is remote). It’s intrusive, a burden, there is no way to avoid detecting a lie when it occurs. So I don’t think it’s something the memory wipe could have erased. But she wouldn’t remember how she got this ability in the first place, or be able to explain why the Timekeepers gave her something so useful and no one else, so it’s possible the others write her off as mistaking a heightened but natural intuition for superpower or outright lying for whatever reason.
Except now it’s season two, and she knows what happened to her. They all do. They know she was telling the truth all those years. So when some of her coworkers are suddenly working against her and being interrogated with her in the room, they try to avoid tipping off her suddenly very real powers.
Of course, a lie of omission is sometimes louder than an actual lie. And Verity doesn’t need to be a walking polygraph machine, nor does she need a direct answer to her question, to know her longtime coworker and friend Mobius is in mourning and very much not okay.
God I hope we see my girl again and get some retconned explicit confirmation she can detect lies. I don’t need it, because I already did the research. But come on Marvel, keep riddling that target with plot holes, you cowards. Call her Verity outside of the credits, give her her comic book powers for no conceivable reason other than I want her to have them, and let her come back to the MCU in another movie or show (or a season 3 but I don’t think we’re getting that).
I love Verity, and this rewatch was worth it just to pay super close attention every time she shows up.
tl;dr: Fuck you, Marvel, my girl can detect lies in the MCU. I didn’t gain these nonsensical analysis skills to obsessively look for shit that was never supposed to be there from fifteen years of shipping for nothing.

https://www.tumblr.com/darklinaforever/737358997307506688/i-already-did-an-entire-post-about-this-but-sylki
I mean, yes, the comparison of Sylki to Miles and Gwen totally makes sense to me.
People simply refuse to see that no Sylvie is not a simple female version of Loki.
She doesn't have the same DNA or the same personality. It's bullshit. And even if as I say they share the same identity, it is mainly from a divine point of view. The same role in the universe.
Because the simple case of being born Loki is completely called into question from the episode where Sylvie is introduced, simply because she did not keep Loki's identity. It's not for nothing that it has its own name. This is precisely to make the viewer understand that no, she is not a female version of Loki and is not supposed to be !
The purpose of a character meeting other versions of themselves always generally serves the same purpose of discovery or understanding about themselves. From a symbolic point of view, it's almost the same thing.
Anyway, I'm not going to repeat myself any further since I already say all these things in the link above.
This is all just my opinion. I would find it interesting to hear yours on the subject ?
Sylvie and Loki are not the same person, they play the same role in their own universes and its as simple as that. They don't share genetics or the same DNA in any way, shape or form, we don't even know if they've got the same parents for sure. The only connection between the two is that role they play as god/goddess of mischief. As you said the fact that she was given the name Sylvie was to help the viewers see her as her own character, to recognise that she is not the same person as Loki and she has her own individuality.
I honestly don't know why people are still arguing about this because Kate Herron, someone with creative control over the show has made it clear that they aren't the same person:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Call me old fashioned but personally if someone with creative control makes a statement like this, I take it as the truth. You can voice how much you don't like it or that you saw it a different way, but this statement is still the truth, Sylvie and Loki were not written as being the same person. The truth is some people are so insecure in their ship that they have to cling to this incorrect view that Sylki is wrong because 'they're the same person', in order to make themselves feel better. They'll do anything they can, say anything they can to invalidate Sylki. Which is fine until they start jumping on sylkis posts telling them they're wrong when they very clearly aren't as the creators themselves share the same opinion.
I often see the argument that Sylvie and Loki must be the same person and their relationship must be wrong because characters in the show have said so. But lets look at these moments. The first is in 1x4 when Mobius is interrogating Loki and realises Loki has developed romantic feelings for Sylvie. If we look at Mobius' role in this moment he is the TVA agent who is still under the brainwashing of the 'timekeepers' aka HWR and is not someone we are supposed to be rooting for in this moment. In some ways he's playing the antagonist to Loki in this moment in the sense that he represents the TVA who are the bad guys. We are supposed to see that Mobius is the one in the dark here and that his current points of view are not the correct ones. You could say there is a pre truth Mobius and a post truth Mobius. Pre truth Mobius was the one who told Loki that he is responsible for his mother's death, who said he was born to bring pain and suffering so that others could become the best versions of themselves and who said his romance with Sylvie was sick, twisted and demented. We as the audience are supposed to accept these statements as being wrong, as being a result of Mobius being brainwashed by this organisation. I mean who out here is taking the words of an indoctrinated agent of a fascist organisation at face value? Like come on.
But then we get post truth Mobius, he learns the truth about being a variant and the TVA, he sees the light so to speak. The biggest clue that you are supposed to understand that his previous comments about Loki and Sylki are wrong is that he takes them all back after he learns the truth. His view that Loki was only meant to bring suffering changes and he tells Loki he can be whoever he wants to be. His view on Sylki changes too and instead of seeing them as sick and twisted he recognises their connection as something positive, something that could be the solution and that could 'bring this whole place down.'
The second instance is when X-5 calls Sylki weird in 2x2 in the McDonalds scene and again this statement is coming from a bad guy. Like x-5/ brad is a villain in the show, who is self serving and doesn't care about anybody else, of course you aren't suppose to agree with what he says. Another important facet of both these scenes though is that they are supposed to be comedic scenes. You are quite literally not supposed to take them seriously, its just a joke, because yeah sylki are weird, we've all had a good laugh about it, but them being weird doesn't make them wrong.
Anyway pretty sure I've gone off on a tangent there, so bringing it back. No Sylvie and Loki are not the same person. No they don't share DNA or any genetics, obviously. Yes the Miles/Gwen comparison is valid in that they both play the same roles within their universe, Miles/Gwen are both spiderman/woman, Sylvie/Loki are both the god/goddess of mischief.
Not to sound harsh, but you can shout and scream about how Sylki are the same person all you like, I don't care I'm going with Herron's statement seeing as she helped create the actual show. So as far as I'm concerned this is no longer an argument or up for debate, the answer has already been given, they aren't the same person.

Something I find so disturbing and have been struggling with about the Loki show, is how horrible the show treats him and how accepting the Loki "fandom" is of it. Like, the show creators seem to know that they can treat Loki any way they want and get away with it. And they did, and they're going to do it again.
The thing is, they know they can do anything to him now. Subject him to anything they want, play out a whole Loki torture fantasy if they want to, and nobody is going to tell them no. Hell, they already did.
Is it because it's Loki and he deserves it? Is it because he's Loki, therefore he'll never NOT deserve it? If not, then where is the stopping point? When is enough enough? How much pain and torture and mocking and humiliating and emasculating does it take, exactly??
Why are people in the Loki fandom acting like this is okay? Why are some enjoying this and saying how wonderful it is that Loki is finally getting therapy and has a friend. THERAPY?!? A FRIEND??? This is so wrong it's become hard to live with for me. It's so disturbing. I feel like this will always live in my mind and haunt me.
My focus is more on criticizing Disney for the offensive messaging. I'm not opposed to bad things happening to characters in stories. What bothers me about the show is the framing. Bucky is tortured in CATWS. Very brutally. Right on screen. But at no point is the audience encouraged to revel is his degradation or to laugh at him or to think Pierce is giving Bucky "therapy" or helping him or anything of the sort. So yes something bad happens on screen but the messaging is fine. (the writing does get very victim blamey with Bucky later installments but I'll save that for another post).
Mobius's treatment of Larry (as I call the show character bc he has nothing in common with Loki) is the same but the framing is very different. He holds Larry against his will, forces him to serve a fascistic, genocidal organization, threatens him, degrades and dehumanizes him, and tortures him when he doesn't behave as Mobius wants.
BUT the audience is very forcefully encouraged by the framing and messaging to think this is ok. We're supposed to enjoy seeing Larry being hurt and called names. We're supposed to laugh and think he deserves it and think that Mobius is a great guy even though he's a torturer and murder who at no point shows any remorse for his actions.
And that's not ok.
This show isn't woke. It's sick.
