A Gift for Loki - Summary
Young Prince Loki of Asgard is the God of Mischief and Chaos, the wild and unscrupulous little brother of Thor, and the son of the King of the Æsir.
Being second in the line of succession, Loki meticulously performs his palace duties by day, but by night he can be found living up to his reputation as a hard-core partying playboy.
Alas, a prince of Asgard cannot remain a fun-loving bachelor forever. Loki's world is turned upside down when duty calls for him to take a wife. His parents have betrothed him to the daughter of the most prominent Lord in the kingdom.
Loki would rather be dragged to Hel than to the altar, that is, until he finally lays eyes on his bride-to-be. Meeting Sigyn cracks the foundation on which he built his hedonistic reputation.
Can Loki give up his philandering lifestyle and become the husband Sigyn deserves? The Nornir have brought the two of them together; will outside forces tear them apart?
*This story is for mature audiences only.* 18+
*Minors DNI*
Warnings: Explicit descriptions of sexual acts, alcohol intoxication, and drug use. Specific trigger warnings will be attached before each chapter when applicable.
This story is NON-CANON. This is an MCU/Norse mythology hybrid AU: Thor and Loki are biological brothers, and Odin isn't the worst father. Comparably, in human years, Loki is in his mid-twenties, and Thor is late twenties. Set in Asgard, the realm is described as a large kingdom with territories and hierarchies among Odin's Lords and Ladies.
Genre: Fluff and Smut. An all-round feel-good fic.
Pairings: AU Loki x Sigyn

I actually didn't even bother watching the second season of Loki because of the cheap marketing and inconsistent storytelling.
It just felt like the plot was lifted off somewhere it would have made sense, and a character with a similar ego was replaced with Loki and goes through an arc that might have made sense for a blank slate character, but not someone who already has a backstory.
Loki doesn't even feel like Loki after three episodes in S1. The whole point of having a show like that just seems to be about the TVA and Sylvie.
Also the whole genderfluid thing. They 'confirmed' it in the promo and had a line in the script that went completely against anything they just said.
I knew at once that the writers, directors and other parts of production were really just pulling it in different directions and it would probably sound like a jazz trumpeter and a metal guitarist trying to improvise after knowing each other for 15 minutes.
I've been meaning to watch it just so I can have educated opinions on all of it but it's just,, so hard to get into. I definitely agree the marketing was cheap, they did with the 80s McDonald's like they did DB Cooper!Loki and made it centric to the advertising because McDonalds was also getting something out of it which is kinda ass seeing as realistically Loki Laufeyson would burn 6 of them down before he ate in one 😭
I personally don't like either of the major ships in the show but the forced Sylki shit in season 1 really got to me. Like not only did she completely replace him as the main character in HIS show, she's also a variant of him who he wants to make out with and overall it just reads as lazy writing and it's extremely disappointing that Mike Waldron has been put in charge of Multiverse of Madness and The Kang Dynasty since, due to the popularity of the Loki TV show. I was talking to my boyfriend about this last night but it kinda reminds me of the complaints people had ab the last Indiana Jones movie but opposite? Like everyone complained his best friend's daughter was gonna replace him bc she's a Mary Sue and she rlly isnt, she's more reminiscent of Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark she just doesn't wanna fuck him. But the difference is Indy is a character who's majorly blank for little boys to project themselves onto. Which is great!! It works for those kind of movies, but they're not character development centric like the individual mcu movies tend to be. Loki is characterized in a way that he's drowning in identity issues and family problems and he experiences growth in every installment whether it be positive or negative. It doesn't make sense to take the formula of an Indidna Jones movie where he meets up with a woman who's typically a love interest and has her own issues that are only slightly touched on because that's not the focus, and they go do the plot.
Sylvie is not an Indy Girl, they straight up are trying to replace Loki with Sylvie. And you can tell the character wasn't supposed to have as much importance as she does in the show bc the character was worked on more after the actress they chose was buddies with a producer ( and this is no hate to the actress I'm sure she's delightful everything I've seen her in in terms of interviews has been lovely ).
I also absolutely agree they should've just made a tva mini series to introduce the tva rather than bringing back a dead character who soon will not make much sense anyway because Tom Hiddleston is getting older (and also he deserves to branch out in his career).
The genderfluid thing was a cash grab and it sucks ass, they just want money for acknowledging things already canon in the comics, same with confirming him as bisexual.
My boyfriend is actually writing a fic on ao3 called Find Me that's rlly good if you want Loki content that isn't related to the show.
(YES this is shameless promotion sshhhhshshsh) but fr the loki TV show makes me more confident in my screenwriting bc t h a t got put on disney plus. I'm also working on a Loki show rewrite in my spare time!!

Could you write a Logyn mini-story where they both watch the MCU Loki series and they absolutely destroy it Mystery Science Theater 3000 style please? Might feel a bit cathartic for Logyn shippers like me

You hurried to the locker rooms, unable to contain the excitement and the butterflies in your stomach. You stowed your helmet then your vest inside the locker and hung your baton and TemPad on the door.
“Where are you off to in a hurry?” Hunter D-72 asked. “You’re having another date with your mystery man again, aren’t you?” she said as she took her armor off. You just smiled, buttoning down your shirt and smoothing over you’re A-line skirt. “Bless the Time Keepers! How long have you been here and you already got a boyfriend? I’ve been here two years! Two. Long. Mother fuckin’ years! And had no one looking at me!” You laughed as you buckled your heels into place.
“I’m just lucky I guess. It wasn’t like I was looking for someone. He just kinda…found me.” You smiled at her.
“Well, does he have a friend? You know what, never mind. If they ain’t a hunter, I don’t want ‘em. I don’t want any pencil pushers. Keepers know this agency’s got enough of ‘em.” You placed your hand on her shoulder as a way of solidarity and goodbye then started off.
She was right though. Being a hunter for the TVA had a different lifestyle. It was suspenseful and required long gritty hours. You were often the first on the scene and the first ones to bring back any variants that you captured. So like tends to like as most of the hunters get together and a lot of the ‘pencil pushers,’ as you guys like to call the analysts, stay within each other’s company too.
But your boyfriend was different. He wasn’t an analyst or a hunter. He had a name. Only the higher-ups ever get a name. He was also a variant - the only variant in the TVA.
A dangerous one, so Loki himself says. Mobius says he’s more like a kitten with a tiger’s growl, and you would have to agree.
Most variants end up being reset. You had no idea how Loki had managed to keep himself from being pruned and stay here working with the TVA.
You supposed his charm had a lot to do with it. You first met each other while accompanying Mobius to capture one of Loki’s more dangerous variants.  Mobius wanted you and your team to secure the perimeter while he gathered temporal evidence. You could tell right away that Mobius was agitated at seeing you. He was hurried in giving you instructions. As if he wanted you to leave his presence immediately before Loki came.
Sure enough, that was when Loki showed up through the TemPad portal. Mobius had a look of defeat and resignation in his eyes as Loki came up to you.
Loki couldn’t keep his eyes off of you. He stumbled on his words. Not listening to Mobius and often having to ask him to repeat himself. While Mobius begrudgingly collected his temporal evidence, Loki followed you like a lost kitten, securing the perimeter.
That was three months ago. Loki had asked you out to lunch, and since then you’ve been joined at the hip whenever either of you was free.
A hand grabbed you from behind, halting your musings, and pushed you against a dark corner of the hallway. You tried to scream and fight as they covered your mouth and pressed up against you.
“Shh. Shh. It’s me.” Loki said letting go of your mouth.
“Loki! Don’t sneak up on me like that!”
“Hello there, darling,” Loki said as he kissed you passionately. You wound your arms around his neck, pulling him closer while giggling like a schoolgirl about to get caught. “I’ve missed you terribly.”
“And I, you,” you said giving him one last kiss on his soft lips. “So what are we going to do tonight?”
“I thought we could do the usual? Movie. Popcorn. Obscenely making fun of the stupidity that people get themselves into.” He said with a laugh. “But with a twist.”
“Hmm. Does that twist end up with us naked by the end of the night?” You asked unashamedly.
“Good Fates, I hope it does!” he leaned over you for another kiss, grinding you against the wall. “Come on. I want to show you something.”
Tumblr media
He led you to Time Theater 18, where he set up a comfy-looking couch, large enough to be a bed. It was bedecked with pillows, a blanket, and a small tray of food to the side. “Where did all this come from?” you asked, wide-eyed and excited.
“I had to pull a few strings.”
“Casey?”
“Casey!” Loki nodded. “I thought we could…watch this tonight.” Loki handed you a film reel marked “ETH-616/Loki Laufeyson.” You looked up at him concerned.
“Loki. This is your life.”
“I know, darling. Like I said, ‘the stupidity that people get themselves into.’ Come.” Loki took back the reel and bade you sit down while he set up the projector.
“Are you sure, Loki? You know, we could just talk and I can ask questions to get to know you. Like a normal couple would. You don’t have to do this.” You underhandedly joked. You were always curious about his life. But you figured that both of you had enough time to learn about each other.
“When have we ever been a conventional couple? Plus, I’m ready for you to get to know me. All of me.” He said as he took a seat next to you. A warm blush rose in your cheeks and traveled throughout your body. He was purposely letting himself be vulnerable with you. Your heart sparked new love as you settled next to him on the couch. His arm over your shoulders and your head on his chest.
The film started with Odin finding a baby Loki on Jotunheim. “Awe, look at you! You were so cute as a baby!” you squealed with delight. “Wait! Why is Odin taking you? Is he kidnapping you?” You screamed with horror.
“You know, to this day, I have no idea why he took me.” His voice was laced with pain and sorrow. How would Loki’s life differ if he had stayed in Jotunheim? If Odin had just left him?
Although, if Odin did forsake Loki, he would be the one taken by the TVA. I suppose it had to happen.
“You were a treasure. Odin knew it and saw it. He would be a fool not to take something as valuable as you.” You said, patting his chest. Loki smiled at you, a small thank you for your kind words.
You tried to appease Loki. But secretly, you wished that Odin would accidentally fall onto something sharp, preferably your blade, while you were holding it.
“Let’s fast forward a bit shall we?” Loki took the remote and forwarded the projection. It stopped with Thor running through the gardens of Asgard.
“Guys wait up,” Thor said as he tried catching up to two other boys. One with unruly red hair and the other, a sleek blonde. They all looked to be about eight or nine.
“That’s Fandral. And the rather portly one is Volstagg.” Loki said pointing to the two boys respectively.
“Fandral? Volstagg? What kind of names are those?”
“Asinine ones,” Loki said derisively, taking a handful of popcorn.
Fandral had stopped and yelled, “Come on. We’ll miss it.” Thor bent down to catch his breath, placing his hands on his knees.
“Awe, poor god of thunder out of breath?” Loki criticized, stuffing popcorn into his mouth.
Something shiny glistened in Thor’s peripheral vision. He looked over to see a beautiful emerald snake slithering out of the tall grass.
“Is that you? That’s you, isn’t it? Fifty credits say that’s you.” You exclaimed.
“Hello there, beautiful,” Thor said to the snake as he got closer. The snake continued to slither across the path, eager to get to the other side.
“Leave me alone! I’m just a poor venomous snake, minding my own business.” Loki mocked in a high-pitched voice, making you giggle in your seat.
Thor wasn’t having that. He wanted to play with it. He wanted to see the iridescent scale catch the sunlight. “I love snakes. Would you like to be my pet, dear snake?” Thor said aloud. “Come on Thor! We’re gonna miss it!” Volstagg yelled out.
“Volstagg couldn’t wait for that damned buffet at the great hall!” Loki remarked.
“In a minute!” Thor went to grab the snake that was almost to the dense grass on the other side. As soon as he picked up the snake, it wound itself around his arm and bit him. Thor let out a loud yell as smoke began to blow all around him. “Yaaah. It’s me.” You heard Loki’s young voice through the smoke. Thor’s grip only got tighter around Loki’s arm. “Unhand me!” Then you saw him take out a small dagger and stab Thor in the hand, releasing his grip.
“I knew it! I knew it was you!” you said proudly.
“Well done, darling,” Loki said kissing your temple. “I don’t have credits. But perhaps I could pay you with something else?” He said as he peppered kisses onto your face, making you laugh.
“Loki!” Thor yelled in anger. Loki only laughed. “Serves you right! Picking up strange creatures you know nothing about.” Loki continued his way through the grass as if he didn’t just stab the future king of Asgard.
“I can’t believe you stabbed him!” You laughed as you playfully hit Loki on the shoulder.
“Serves him right. The boy had too many pets already. Why in the heaven’s would he want another snake?”
The night continued on, with Loki skipping to different parts of his life. When he got to the Battle of New York. You had booed when the Avengers came on the screen and defeated Loki, throwing popcorn at the projection.  “They’re a construction worker short of becoming the next Village People.” You said and Loki laughed.
He jumped forward again to a scene where he was put in a cell for his crimes against Midgard. A cloaked figure came to visit him. You couldn’t see their face, only that Loki had looked at them fondly.
“Ooh, who is that mystery person?”
“No one. Let’s just skip to the next scene, shall we?”
“Loki. It’s ok if it’s a past love. I’m fine. I understand. I wouldn’t hold that against you. I’ve had previous lovers before too. We’re together now. That’s all that matters.” You tried to soothe.
“Loki what have you done?” The figure said forlornly. Their voice sounded so familiar. “Took you long enough!” he spat out in his cell. “Ashamed to be connected to the disgraced prince of Asgard? Is that why you haven’t come to visit me sooner? Have you come to renounce our marriage?” Loki’s tone was acerbic and hurtful. “No, Loki, I have not! Odin has purposely kept me away from seeing you. I’m only here because Frigga has snuck me in. I needed to see you.” “Why? So you can tell me how stupid I was for trying to invade Midgard?” “To tell you that I loved you! I love you still.” The mystery person’s hood fell as she yelled. Revealing your face. “I mourned you!”
You gasped aloud in the theater. Seeing your face on the projection. What does this mean? Am…I a variant?
Loki had just watched you this whole time. He was so brave at the beginning of the night. He was so sure that he was ready for you to learn about this. But the closer you got to certain parts of his life, he started to question whether this was the right thing to do. To tell you the truth. You were blissfully happy living in ignorance. Would he be cruel to take that away from you?
“I mourned you, Loki. I thought you had died. I cried in the arms of your mother every night since you left. And when you came back, not a word, a single note to say you were alright or that you had thought about me. I had to watch you try to take over Midgard. What happened, my love? Why?” you yelled. “My loyal Sigyn. I did this for us.” “Lies! You did this for yourself. You know all I ever wanted was to be by your side. Whether you were a prince or a pauper.” “What good would a pauper do to help you? To give you what you needed?” “Was my love not enough?” “Was mine?!” he yelled back. “It was everything.” You answered back in a soft voice.
You looked to Loki. His eyes never left your face, watching you as you watched the screen. Tears glistened at the corners of his eyes, threatening to fall.
“How long have you known?” you whispered.
“Since I first saw you. Mobius was quite angry at the turn of events. I don’t think he anticipated you showing up. He tried to dangle your presence in the TVA as bait for me to cooperate. So when I finally did see you, he knew he had to find something else to motivate me in compliance.” Loki admitted.
That explains Mobius’s sharp behavior that night. “He knows we’ve been seeing each other. He’s keeping it a secret from Ravonna. So we can continue to be together.”
“Wh…Why would she care?” you asked confused.
“Because we’re both variants.”
“But if I’m a variant then everyone else is a variant too! This whole place is a lie!”
“Shh. Darling, please. It’s the only way we could be together.” He begged you. “We’ll both be pruned if they know that we know. You must keep it a secret!”
“Loki. Is this more of your lies?”
“No, my dear Sigyn. No more lies. Not for you. That’s why I wanted to tell you.”
“Sigyn? Th-that’s not my…my designation is Hunter L-52! I – I can’t. I have to get out of here.”
Loki let you go. Watching you leave him alone as the projection on the screen replayed his last dying breath to the Mad Titan.
Tumblr media
Loki found you in a time theater watching a projection of your life. You had stacks of reels next to you. ETH-616/Sigyn Laufeyson. ETH-507/Y/N Laufeyson. ETH-199999/Y/N Y/LN.
It had been days since he last saw you. He wanted to give you space. To deal with it in your own way. Until Mobius had alerted him to what you were doing.
“Darling.” He called out. He stood next to you as you sat there continuing to watch yourself on the screen.
“It’s our wedding day. I was so nervous that you wouldn’t show up. Thor and The Warriors Three took you out the night before for a surprise stag party. Lady Sif had to reassure me by supplying me with mead.” You laughed at the memory you never had. “Good thing we Asgardians have a good constitution against alcohol, right?”
“I’m sorry my love. I never meant for you to go through this alone.” Loki said.
“Why? Why tell me now?”
“Because you had a right to know. Most importantly, because I made a promise that you were the one person I would never lie to.”
“Am I even your person? Who am I? There are so many variations of me.”
“My Sigyn died in my timeline. Protecting the Queen and Jane Foster from the dark elves’ attack on the palace. I led them straight to her. And I regret it every day since.”
“Is this some sick way for you to liberate yourself from that guilt?” You asked angrily.
“No, darling.” Loki knelt in front of you, seeing you eye to eye, blocking your view of the video playing on the wall. “I never expected to see you again. I accepted it as my punishment. And when I did see you. I vowed to never take it for granted. I know you are not my Sigyn. And I am not your Loki. But if watching any of these reels have shown you, I hope it has shown you that I am completely and madly in love with you.
“No matter what version or form you take. No matter who you may be or become. That no matter what your name is, no matter what happens, you will always be my Sigyn.” Loki cupped your cheek and brought your crying face closer to his. He kissed your tears. One on each cheek. “I will always find my way to you.” Then sought your lips.
His kiss brought on a new meaning now. It has depth and history. A complete feeling of the soul finding soul. You didn’t realize the depth of emotion and affection it had until now.
You cried harder into his kiss, hugging him tighter, feeling at home. “What happened to me? How come I can’t remember my past life? Was I reset?”
His eyes grew heated and his demeanor changed to that of a betrayed and tyrannical king. “Yes, darling, you were. And I will burn this place to the ground, the Time Keepers along with it, for having touched you.”

Shameless Plug Saturday
I've titled this like I'm going to make this a regular thing, but I'm for sure not. I'm uncomfortable about promoting my own writing but my more recent fic doesn't seem to be visible in the reblog link in the appropriate tags, so I'm just going to make a separate post. (So maybe it's a little bit of shame shameless plug. Shameless Plug Saturday with a Side of Unconscious Cringing) Anyway
This Misery Will Suffice: Loki/Sigyn; Vaguely MCU-compliant (does not follow Loki); 18,818 words
Nothing Matters at the End of the World: Loki/Mobius; 5+1 things; Loki, post-season 1, canon-compliant through season 1; 11,524 words

Hello again readers!
Here the chapter one.
Just to be clear, I'm a bookworm and I love mythology, my story is inspired by it but I'd like to mix some fantasy and some comics and MCU references...I'm sorry to "disappoint" you but the Loki I picture here in this story, in aesthetical appearance, is not the MCU Loki (even though I genuinely love MCU Loki and Mr Tom Hiddleston, of course). I hope you appreciate the story as much as I loved writing it.

Chapter 1 - Vanaheimr
The old and crumbling well at the east end of the royal palace gardens has always been one of my favourite places in all of Vanaheimr. Surrounded by the most diverse species of flowers and herbs, it still holds the most beautiful memories of my youth...
It was there that I saw, for the first time, the reflection of the lives of the inhabitants of Midgard.
It happened on a time when I had managed to escape from one of the tedious etiquette lessons of Guðlaug, my teacher. Once outside, in the fresh air, quick as a fox and barefoot as a savage I started running until I reached my little corner of paradise. I cared little about how to make useless little conversations or how to make the perfect bow, the call of my seiðr pulsing violently through my veins was instead extremely more inviting.
As it was then, with a golden flash, the surface of the water inside the well has become a kind of mirror where images, at first blurred and then gradually clearer, reflect, showing me faces, gestures, emotions, heartaches and stories of people who lived on another plane of existence, mortals, with a predetermined time to live, suffer, rejoice and love.
"Sigyn...I knew I would find you here..."
The sweet, melodious voice of Hnoss, my sister, brings me back to the present.
I turn slowly to look at her as she approaches, her golden hair framing her delicate face, illuminating the gaze of her hazel eyes, while a light, sky-blue dress wraps her luscious body.
It is impossible not to see the resemblance to our mother, Freya, the goddess of beauty.
" come, mother want to see you, she said that Aunt Gerðr send something for you and you must open it before you leave for Asgard" she says softly holding out her hand to help me up from my improvised bed of flowers. I smile back at her, taking her hand, and at the mention of my favourite aunt and her gift, a burst of curiosity arises within me. We walk back towards the palace, giggling.
As anticipated by my sister, our mother was waiting for me in the hall of her private chambers but I literally saw her smile fade from her face as soon as she saw me arrive completely dishevelled, my skirt soiled with dirt and grass, my hair tousled.
"Oh by the gods, Sigyn, you are a princess of Vanaheimr, You must start behaving like one! No more barefoot running in the gardens, no more climbing trees or riding your horse bareback.." she says seriously
"But mother...Svartr hates to be saddled..." I retort, receiving from my mother a look that suggests it is unwise to interrupt her.
I lower my head whispering "I'm sorry mother".
Suddenly she approaches me and take both of my hands.
"I know you are frightened and agitated... being presented at the Allfather's court is not a privilege granted to many... and you, Sigyn, have been chosen among all to represent the Vanir people there..." she speaks to me softly, while one of her hand tilt my chin up. She had understood my turmoil and also my desire to escape to the gardens to imprint well in my heart the sensations that those places always gave me. Once in Odin's court, who knows when I would be able to return home, to see my sisters and my family again. The idea of being forced to abandon everything I knew and gave me comfort destabilised me a lot.
I sigh " what if I...what if I disappoint you mother? If I disappoint our people?" I stutter " what if I'm not good enough?... I'm not beautiful as you or well spoken as Hnoss or sweet like Gersemi...what if I'm not good enough for be a maiden in waiting for lady Frigg?" My eyes tear up as I speak all of my doubts.
I feel her arms cage me in a tight embrace " shhhh...don't cry my child, you'll be perfect...you're so beautiful and kind and you could never disappoint me or your father or our people. Remember that they choose you. lady Frigg can't wait to meet you and you'll learn so many thing that I can't teach you here..."
I take a deep breath of my mother's scent, as if it were the last time I could smell it. I then feel her delicate fingers wipe away the tears that have slipped down my cheeks.
" go get ready, in a couple of hours we have to leave and before we do, there is a surprise for you..." she whispers before giving me a kiss on the forehead and letting me go.
As soon as she let me go, I went to my rooms, where Dagný, one of my mother's maids, was preparing my bath.
After I freshen up Dagný takes an immense amount of time to dress me and style my hair.
The moment she puts the brush down we hear a knock at the door.
"Come in," I murmur while running my hands over my corset, smoothing the fabric to calm my anxiety
"Where's my little sparrow?" Thunders a deep male voice as the door swings open. I turn towards the door and get up running towards the tall man wrapped in a bear fur.
"Daddy!" I say with transport, hugging him." I didn't think you'd make it back before I left."
" what do you take me for little sparrow? I couldn't not say goodbye to my little girl. Besides, your aunt Gerðr would have killed me if I hadn't brought you your present in time," he murmurs, smoothing his beard before making a box appear in front of me with a silver glint.
"How are Aunt Gerðr and Uncle Freyr?" I ask my father before turning to the box in front of me.
"They're fine, they're sorry they couldn't be there for your court debut" he murmurs in reply, he knows well from the glint in my eyes how excited and intrigued I am by the gift.
I let my fingers open the ribbons allowing me to finally see what's inside.
With a gasp, I bring my hands to my mouth as a thin tiara with a pattern of small, delicately intertwined, golden leaves reveals itself before my eyes.
"It's beautiful" I murmur meekly while my hands tremble.
"It's made for suits you..." my mother says, entering my room, I look up and see her encouraging smile before her slender fingers take the tiara from the box and place it on my head.
I turn to look at myself in the large mirror and the girl looking back does not look like me.
The golden dress she wears wraps her body like a glove, the corset emphasises her slim waist while the soft long skirt makes her figure tall and slender. The features of her face are delicate, feminine, a sprinkling of freckles colours her cheeks and her small nose, her eyes are as blue as the stormy sea while her honey ginger hair slides down her shoulders to frame her face while the tiara on her head gives her an ethereal, regal look.
"It's time" my mother says before giving my father a loving look and a peck on the cheek. I hugges him and then I follow my mother outside before she call for Heimdall to open the Bifrost.
I look around one last time as the rainbow bridge open before us taking us to the reign of the Aesir and my new home: Asgard.

The newlyweds were escorted out of the front of the arena to their awaiting carriage. It was open-air in style, gold exterior with plush green velveteen benches. Pulled by twin black mares dressed in gold. Loki held his wife’s train as she climbed in, then joined her by her side. Two footmen climbed onto the back, and the driver took the seat at the front.
“Ready to head back, Your Highnesses?”
“Lead the way, good man.” Loki smiled at the driver as he took up the reins.
Einherjar followed as the carriage pulled away. Next in the procession was the King’s coach, followed by His Lordship.
The visitors who did not fit in the arena were waiting just outside the gates. Loud cheers and applause followed them out to the forest. The couple waved and smiled at the crowds. Sigyn even blew kisses to the children they passed.
As they entered the forest, they got a short reprieve from the people. They settled back on the bench and twined their hands together.
“You took my breath away today,” Loki said as he held her chin in his hand, watching her fidelity swirl around her like a leaf caught in the wind.
“Do you like the dress? I had them change the neckline last minute. I love the way you look at me in off-the-shoulder gowns.”
“Am I so obvious?” Loki chuckled as he ran his fingers down the side of her neck, across her collarbone, and over her shoulder.
“The eyes do not lie.” She leaned over and kissed him.
“I love your dress, my sweet. I had to stop myself from falling to my knees when I saw you walking toward me.”
She put her hand on his chest and smiled widely. “I had to stop myself from sprinting to the altar; you looked so good standing there. My handsome husband. Please say you will let me braid your hair sometime?”
“I would enjoy that.”  He picked up her hand from his chest and kissed her on her ring.
“This ring is breathtaking. I love it so much.” She held out her hand to admire it.
“I am happy you like it.”
“I love it.” She kissed him sweetly on the lips. “Did you choose this yourself?”
“I did. But I did show it to your mother first. She seemed to think it was suitable.”
“She was right. I will never take it off.” She looked down at Loki’s flat gold band. “Were you hoping for something more… just more?”
“No, sweetling, this is perfect.” He traced his thumb over the smooth metal.
“Your hands are already so beautiful. I did not want your ring competing.”
“My hands are beautiful?” He chuckled.
“Oh, yes! So large,” she picked up his hand and held it up to hers, “Your hand makes mine look tiny. They are strong yet gentle when gentleness is called for. You move your hands with such fluidity and grace. It is mesmerizing.” She flipped his hand over and ran her fingers over his palm.
“The daggers you fight with do not leave callouses in the same manner that swords do, so your hands are soft on my skin. And these devious fingers… mmmm… I have had pleasant dreams about these long, agile fingers.” She placed his hand on the side of her face and nuzzled his palm.
He was about to offer to let her sit on his fingers when she looked at him with sweet eyes and asked how he was feeling today.
“I am much improved. No need to worry about me.” He leaned over and kissed her sweetly. Holding her head in his hand, he pulled back to look at her adoringly. “You are my wife.”
“I know! Finally.” She laughed, “I have been dreaming of this day since I was a small child.”
“I never thought I would have a wife.”
“That just proves that you do not know everything.” She wiggled her left hand at him, showing off her ringed finger.
“I know you love me,” he grinned at her.
“I do. I am madly in love with you. I love you so deeply it hurts.”
He cocked one eyebrow up at her. “Tell me where it hurts, kitten. Let me kiss it and make it better.”
She smacked his arm, “Behave. We are almost out of the forest.”
“Fine,” he laughed. “At least let me hold you until we are back in the public eye.”
She snuggled closer to his side, and he tucked her under his arm. Her tiara was poking him under his chin.
“Can we lose the regalia for a moment, Princess?”
“Okay. But only for a moment. I may sleep in it. I love it so much.”
“As long as it is the only thing you wear when you come to bed.”
Sigyn laughed as she held the delicate tiara in her lap. “Are you telling me I should not have spent a small fortune on new lingerie?”
“Hmmm… I think naked is better. But do wear all the pieces for me to try and change my mind.”
oOXOo
Bells were ringing in the capital as they made their way back to the palace. As they entered the palace gates, they smiled and waved to the citizens as they passed.
Loki helped Sigyn out of the carriage and made their way up the stone stairs to the courtyard. The gathered crowd started calling for a kiss.
“Should we give the people what they want?” Loki asked when they made it to the top of the steps.
“I think it would be in bad form not to.”
“Hold onto your tiara, my sweet.”
Before Sigyn could process what he had just said, Loki had her in his arms and was dipping her backward. Her hand flew to catch her tiara as his lips claimed hers. The crowd erupted. He broke the kiss and grinned at her.
“Stand me up this instant, Mischief.”
He gave her a quick peck on the lips, then swiftly pulled her up to standing. She adjusted her tiara and then pulled him down for another kiss. This one lingered. Slow and sultry.
“That was a proper kiss, Your Highness.” She breathed against his mouth as she pressed her forehead to his.
“Kiss me like that again, and I will take you right here on these stones.”
She let out a breathy laugh, “Promise?”
He gave her a low growl and pulled her hips against his, “Would you like that, kitten?” His voice was low and close to her ear, “Would you like for me to fuck you while all of Asgard watches?”
Heat instantly coursed through her entire body. A scarlet blush painted her neck and chest, and she let out a stuttered breath.
“Oh, you would, wouldn’t you?  Are you wet just thinking about it?” He ran his thumb over her bottom lip.
She swallowed thickly, “Maybe.”
“Have you participated in exhibitionism before? Or is it just something you read about in your naughty books?”
She shook her head, “No.” She licked her lips, “I am unfamiliar in both regards.”
“Oh, we are going to have so much fun together.” He kissed her forehead slowly before turning to watch as the King’s coach pulled into the roundabout.
Sigyn hadn’t even heard the coach approaching. She quickly tried to regain her composure as the King, Queen, and Crown Prince made their way to the stairs. Loki had a Cheshire grin on his face as Thor bounded up the steps two at a time. He pulled him into a firm bear hug.
“Congratulations, Baby Brother!”
“Easy on the ribs, please.” Loki managed to squeak out.
“Sorry.” He released him and held him by the shoulders. “You are a married man!” He shook his head, “I cannot believe it! And such a pretty wife.” He turned his attention to Sigyn.
She curtsied, “Thank you, Your Highness.”
“What are you doing, Princess?” He picked her up and twirled her, “You are my sister-by-law now. You do not have to curtsey to me any longer, and you may call me as Loki does.”
She smiled sweetly at him, “I appreciate that, but I would not feel comfortable calling you a big lumbering oaf.”
He let out a booming laugh, and Loki chuckled as he smiled proudly, “One hour as your wife, and she is already wielding your clever barbs.”
“Do not fault me, Brother. She has always been quick with a retort. She burned me the day of our betrothal, right here on this very spot. Do you remember that, darling?”
“Ah, yes. How could I forget? I met the man I was to marry for the first time, and he presented himself looking like something the cat coughed up and smelling of tavern whores. It was made worse when he stood here mute and slack-jawed in front of his people. He made himself an easy target.”
“I was overwhelmed by your beauty.”
“And I was overwhelmed by your breath.”
Thor howled with laughter, “He was retching his guts out moments before you met.”
“Well, it has all worked out, has it not?” She looked up at Loki with stars in her eyes. Her fidelity flared brightly, causing Thor’s fits of laughter to taper off.
Loki brought her hand to his lips and kissed it, “Better than I could have ever imagined.”
The trio bowed to the King and Queen as they reached the top of the stairs. Frigga moved straight to Sigyn, taking her head in her hands.
“Oh, my sweet daughter. What a joyous day!” She pulled her into a warm embrace. “I could not be happier that you are part of our family now.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty. I am so grateful to have been welcomed so warmly.”
“Please, call me Mother.” She pulled back to look at her with tears in her eyes.
oOXOo
The Royal family stood at the front entry of the palace and welcomed their esteemed guests as they arrived. Sigyn could not recall ever receiving so many hugs in her life. Loki had to lean over and tell her the names and titles of many of the guests. Aside from the Gods, Goddesses, and her own family and friends, most of the people attending the feast were Asgardian nobles, political allies of the King, or people Odin wanted to gain favor with. Sigyn had extensively studied Odin’s and Frigga’s family trees so she would not accidentally embarrass herself in front of her new family.
One of the wedding planners approached Sigyn from behind, “Excuse me, Your Highness?”
After a moment, Sigyn looked to Loki to see why he had not responded to her.
“She was talking to you, Princess,” Loki chuckled.
“Right.” She shook her head, embarrassed. “Yes?”
“Your parents have moved to a parlor to rest before the reception begins. I wanted to see if you would like to take this opportunity to rest your feet and keep them company for a little while.”
She looked to Loki, “Go, sweetling. There is no need for both of us to be here to greet these bloated sycophants.”
The man in front of Loki huffed in indignation.
“Not you, of course, Ambassador.” Loki shook his hand, “You are most welcome. Thank you for coming.”
The man and his wife went inside, and Loki rolled his eyes behind his back.
He turned back to Sigyn, “Please,” He kissed her forehead, “go see your parents. I will come to find you shortly.”
“Very well. My feet are killing me.” She pressed up to him and planted a kiss on his lips.
“We will be in the blue room, Your Highness, if you would like a respite yourself.”
Loki nodded in thanks and watched as Sigyn disappeared into the palace.
oOXOo
“Just through these doors, Your Highness.”
“Thank you.” Sigyn handed off her bouquet and made her way into the parlor.
Her father was sitting in a plush chair with his feet up on an ottoman, fingers laced over his belly, and his head resting on the back of the chair, eyes closed and mouth agape. Her mother had her shoes off and lounged across a sofa, her head propped on her hand.
At the sound of the door closing behind Sigyn, Lady Anderson looked up, startled. She quickly stood and bent into a deep curtsey.
“Mama, what are you doing? Stop that.” As Astrid righted herself, Sigyn rushed to her mother and put her hands on her shoulders.
“Protocol. You are a Princess, are you not?”
“Don't be silly,” Sigyn said with fresh tears in her eyes. “I am just your daughter. Same as I was this morning. Nothing has changed.”
“Of course, it has.” Her mother placed her hand on Sigyn’s cheek. “You may not have been born a Princess, but you are now, in name and title, a Princess. Married to a Prince and daughter-by-law to the King. Your husband is second in line to the throne. Gods forbid if some bad fortune fell upon Prince Thor before he produces heirs, Prince Loki would be crowned, and you would be Queen of Asgard. I am not telling you anything you do not already know, but you must accept that you will be treated differently. It may make you uncomfortable initially, but there is nothing wrong with expecting the respect your new title deserves.”
“Your mother is right.” Lord Anderson stood up from his chair and bowed to his daughter.
“Papa… Please… I am still just your little pumpkin, remember? I do not want that to change.” She was choking back tears as she went to him, and he pulled her into his arms.
“You will always be my little pumpkin in my heart.” He kissed the top of her head. “But you are a married woman now. You will seek your husband out when you need advice, guidance, or reassurance. You will turn to him when you are troubled. He is now the one responsible for your safety and comfort.” He patted her back and chuckled, “He will be the one to have to endure your tantrums when something does not go your way.”
Sigyn laughed through her tears, “I do not throw tantrums.”
“Regardless, yes, we are still your parents.” Her mother gathered Sigyn’s train and draped it over her arm.
“We will always love you with a ferocity that you will never fully understand until you have your own children. But I cannot treat you like Daddy’s little girl anymore. It is no longer my job to spoil you. You have always been My Princess. Now you are Asgard’s Princess. You must answer to your Royal titles and expect bows and curtsies from everyone, even me.” He rubbed her arms.
“Papa…”
She was unexpectedly mourning her childhood; even though she had been fully grown for ages, this transition into womanhood suddenly felt very abrupt. Even though she had been looking forward to this day since childhood, she was overcome by the realization that she would soon not see her parents every day.
She was sure she would get used to the bowing and curtsying and Royal titles, but the fact that her parents would be returning home in a few short weeks weighed her down more than she thought it would. She was missing them already.
“It is going to be okay. You do not need us anymore.” Her mother patted her back.
“That is not true. Do not say that. I will always need you.” She pulled both of her parents into a hug and cried.
“There, there, pumpkin.” Her father gave her his handkerchief, and she dried her eyes and nose. “If your new husband does his job right, you will be too busy to notice our absence.”
“Erik!”
“What? Our grandchildren are not just going to appear out of thin air. We cannot wish them into existence.”
“I know how it happens. That does not mean that I want to think about my daughter-”
“Enjoying it as much as you do?” The Lord grinned at his wife, watching her get flustered.
“Ahh, enough!” Sigyn’s mother started waving her hands about as if she were trying to shoo the thought from the air around her.
Sigyn clamped her fingers over her mouth and laughed as she watched her parents, “Gods, I am going to miss you two so much.”
When Loki found them a little later, they were all three snuggled on the sofa together, with Sigyn wedged between her parents like a small child, her head on her father’s shoulder as she dozed. Loki smiled as he watched the sweet scene, and then his heart sank; Sigyn looked as if she had been crying. Her cheeks were tear-stained, and her eyelids were pink and puffy.
Loki leaned over and gave the Lord a gentle shake. He opened his eyes and made to move, but Loki stopped him, “Please, do not disturb her. I just need to know if she is all right.” He whispered as he sat on the coffee table in front of him.
“She is fine, Your Highness.” Lord Anderson reassured him in hushed tones, “She just got a little overwhelmed thinking about us going home without her.”
“You know you are welcome to stay for as long as you wish. It has been wonderful having you here. I know my father has enjoyed your company greatly.”
“I have been enjoying my stay immensely but must return to the North. As you will come to learn, running that territory is like running a small kingdom, you never truly get time off.”
“I understand.” Loki reached over and stroked the top of Sigyn’s hand. She was clutching her tiara in her lap. “Did she get any sleep last night?”
“A fair bit. I convinced her to take a sleeping draught. It helped her fall asleep, but she was up before the sun. How about you? How did you manage?”
Loki chuckled, “My brother talked me into drinking with him last night. Sleep came to me easy, but it was very late before I had the heart to send him home.”
“It makes for a long day.” The Lord smiled at him.
Loki nodded and sat there thinking about how to bring up the next subject. “My Lord, I have not had the chance to talk to you since we returned from the hunting trip. I am sure you know by now that a false claim was leveled against me.”
“I heard it from a servant. At first, I was livid, as you can imagine. But Sigyn told me everything, and I… well, I am relieved everything worked out.”
“I just wanted you to know… what I am trying to say is…  I vowed to remain faithful to Sigyn. I did not make that vow lightly. My previous lifestyle is firmly behind me. I can assure you.”
Lord Anderson was thoughtful for a moment. “No one goes into a marriage with the intention of being unfaithful. We live very long lives, and you are still very young. Circumstances can change before you know it. You may find yourself called away to war for years on end…” He looked at his sleeping wife, “So far from everything you hold dear.” He took a deep breath and turned his attention back to Loki. “Do you understand what I am saying?”
“Yes, I believe I do.”
“I would ask that you vow to always be honest with my daughter. It is a far worse thing in a marriage to keep secrets. There is a line from a Midgardian poem that goes ‘To err is human; to forgive, divine’...”
“Alexander Pope, An Essay on Criticism, Part Two.” Loki stared at his hand as he twisted his wedding band around his finger. “Essentially, anyone can make a mistake. As a collective, we should aspire to show mercy and offer forgiveness.”
“Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. While I hope it never comes to this, know the truth may sting for a little while, but a lie will ache forever.”
“Thank you.” He nodded. “Yes, I can always promise to be honest with Sigyn. No matter the circumstance.”
“That’s a good man.”
Loki nodded. He kissed his first two fingers, then placed them lightly on Sigyn’s lips as she slept. She stirred momentarily before snuggling back into her father’s side. “It is almost time to head into the Great Hall.”
“How about you go splash some water on your face…” He nodded towards the bathroom door, “…and I will wake the ladies? Sigyn will wake up hungry. You do not want to be in striking distance.”
Loki chuckled, “Here,” He conjured a bowl of plump green grapes, “this might mitigate some of the damage.”
“Do you know how many fits and tantrums could have been avoided if I had that ability?”
“I can imagine.”
oOXOo
The Great Hall was magnificent—the same boughs of flower garlands from the amphitheater decorated every corner of the massive hall. Wisteria hung from the bottoms of the enormous chandeliers and every sconce along the walls. A string quartet perched on the balcony and played gentle music as the guests filed in.
The long tables were set in with the palace’s most elegant crockery. Crystal goblets glimmered in the flickering light put off by the ornate golden candelabras between the centerpieces' lush greenery. There was a lovely note from the bride and groom in each place setting. The entirety of the cavernous space gave off an air of elegance and enchantment.
A special modification to the dais had been constructed, creating a three-tiered bleacher effect from the top down in a truncated pyramid shape. The Royal family, the wedding party, and the members of the Æsir in attendance would sit at the tables along the middle and bottom rows. The top was a flat platform left empty apart from a single golden pedestal.
Once everyone was announced and seated, Odin started the feast. Loki handed off his crown for the night, relieved to be rid of it. Sigyn insisted on keeping hers on with a knowing smile as she turned down the offer to bring it to the vault with Loki’s.
The Great Hall was brimming with celebration. Toasts were made in honor of the bride and groom. Stories were shared. Wine, ale, and mead flowed. Hundreds of servants bustled about to ensure no cups remained empty for too long.
Loki was amazed that Sigyn had managed not to get a single crumb on her dress. She did not refuse any food offered to her as platter after platter was brought around. A wine glass dangled precariously from her fingers as she leaned back in her seat.
“Are you finished, or do you need me to run out and bring back another boar?” Loki teased her when she finally pushed her plate away.
A pretty, pink blush adorned her cheeks from the wine she had consumed, “Ah, my handsome husband, God of Jokes.” She leaned over and kissed him.
A loud cheer when up in the crowd. The men had started draining their cups every time the newlyweds were caught kissing. Sitting on the other side of their parents, Thor called over to his brother, drinking horn raised, “Join us, Brother!”
Loki laughed and gave him a dismissive little wave, “You go right on ahead without me. I would like to remember consummating this union tonight.”
Loki looked at his parents, who were between them, “Apologies, Mother.”
“No apologies needed,” she smiled. “You are a husband now. It is your duty.”
“Finally, a job you are actually qualified for.” Thor drained his mead.
Frigga patted Odin’s arm, “We had better get on with the next part before things get too out of hand.”
“I believe you are right.” The King motioned for Henrik and whispered close to his ear. He nodded in reply and set off again.
“Sigyn, dear, how are you feeling?”
“Oh, I feel wonderful, thank you.” She placed her hand high on Loki’s thigh and took another sip from her wine.
“Sigyn, dearest, the King would like to give you his gift now.”
“Oooh, I love presents.” She grinned back at her.
“No, not a present, dear. A gift.”
“Are they not one and the same?”
Henrik rushed back through and whispered something to the King. Odin nodded in response, and his assistant returned to his place along the wall.
“No, child. They are not one and the same.” The King gave her a knowing smile as he stood.
Sigyn suddenly regretted eating so much while her stomach started doing flips as a hush fell over the Great Hall.
“Tonight is a memorable night, indeed. Today we added a new member to my family. Asgard gained a Princess. We gather here tonight to celebrate the union of Loki and Sigyn. A time so joyous. A day already so memorable.”
The room filled with raucous cheers and applause.
Odin held out his hand to Sigyn. She looked at Loki; he was practically vibrating in his seat with excited energy. Frigga gave her an encouraging look, and Sigyn took the King’s hand as she rose from her seat. He led her up the few wooden steps to the platform above the dais.
Sigyn looked down at her parents. They were holding onto each other’s hands. Her father gave her a small smile as her mother chewed her bottom lip.
Odin held up his hand to hush the crowd. “But we have one more reason to celebrate tonight.
“The day I met Sigyn, I knew right away there was something exceptional in her. Now, anyone who has met Sigyn would say that there is something special about her. She is kind, intelligent, and beautiful. She has a warrior’s spirit and a loving heart.
“But I could see more than just what she allows people to see. I could see something much deeper.” He took her chin in his hand and looked at her. His eyes followed something Sigyn could not see.
“To most of you, you look at Sigyn’s face and see her beautiful green irises. As green as the emeralds mined on her father's ancestral lands. But if you could see past those jewel-toned eyes, as I can, you would see something far more beautiful and rare.
“When I first met Sigyn, these flashes were sporadic, and I thought that maybe what I saw was not permanent or weaker than I had first believed. But after I brought her here to meet my son, what I saw only grew brighter with each passing day.
“I am speaking, of course, of the virtuous element that every Æsir must possess.”
Lady Anderson’s hand flew to her mouth, her eyes wide with shock. Lord Anderson kept his face neutral but focused more intently on the King’s words.
Sigyn’s mind could not comprehend what she was hearing; she stared numbly down at her parents.
Murmurs of excitement rushed through the crowd as a tall, slender Goddess ascended to the platform. She was beautiful. Porcelain skin, cobalt blue eyes, and long honey-colored hair that flowed down her back and stopped past her bottom. A crown of flowers was resting on the top of her head, and a thin pink shawl draped over her elbows. She was barefoot and wore a long, sheer, ivory gown that left nothing to the imagination; there were no undergarments beneath.
A wicker basket was hanging from the crook of her arm. Nestled inside, resting on a bed of apple blossoms, was one single, shining golden apple.
