YouTube CEO says NFTs and crypto present a 'previously unimaginable opportunity' A week after Twitter added support for NFT avatars, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has said that cryptocurrency and NFTs present a "previously unimaginable opportunity to grow the connection between creators and their fans" on YouTube. Wojcicki didn't announce any specific plans to add blockchain functionality to YouTube, but calling NFTs an "opportunity" sure makes it sound like the site is working on something. YouTube head of gaming Ryan Wyatt announced today that he's leaving YouTube for a blockchain company, as did senior director of creator partnerships Jamie Byrne (for a different blockchain company), so clearly others at YouTube are interested in cryptocurrency and NFTs. (Except in the extremely unlikely case that the departing Wyatt and Byrne were the only ones aside from Wojcicki who've been sipping on crypto hype.) Shiba Inu Coin has announced its plans to launch its own metaverse project known as the Shiberse. In a tweet on January 24, the official Twitter account shared further details of its project. We're not sure yet how this relates to the Shiba Inu games, previously codenamed the Oshiverse due to its relation to the Shiboshi NFTs. According to the official SHIB account, the Shiberse will be: "An immersive experience for our ecosystem and the Metaverse space." The tweet included an image of a Shiba Inu dog holding a hammer in its mouth in a jungle. On pure speculation, this could suggest the project will include building elements or even Land NFTs, as seen in other Metaverses such as Axie Infinity. Over nine million Android devices infected by info-stealing trojan A large-scale malware campaign on Huawei's AppGallery has led to approximately 9,300,000 installs of Android trojans masquerading as over 190 different apps. The trojan is detected by Dr.Web as 'Android.Cynos.7.origin' and is a modified version of the Cynos malware designed to collect sensitive user data. The discovery and report come from researchers at Dr. Web AV, who notified Huawei and helped them remove the identified apps from their store. However, those who installed the apps on their devices will still have to remove them from their Android devices manually. Trojan disguised as game apps The threat actors hid their malware in Android apps pretending to be simulators, platformers, arcades, RTS strategy, and shooting games for Russian-speaking, Chinese, or international (English) users. As they all offered the advertised functionality, users were unlikely to remove them if they enjoyed the game. Joker 'virus' is back to haunt Google. It is a malicious code that hides in Android applications. It has been found in 14 apps as per Android malware analyst at Kaspersky, Tatyana Shishkova. In a series of Tweets, Shishkova has named the Android apps that are infected by the dangerous virus. For those unaware, Joker is one of the most-persistent malware that keeps coming back to Google Play Store. The data stealing malware finds its way into the Google's official app store by changing its code, execution method, or payload-retrieving techniques. It is said to steal users' data, including SMS, contact list, device info, OTPs and more. Joker malware was first discovered in the year 2017, in 2019, Google published a blog post about its long fight with Joker malware. Microsoft's new Windows operating system has debuted nearly six years after the release of Windows 10 that took place in July 2015. The update, which is being called the “next generation” of Windows, comes with a massive redesign over its predecessor, starting from an all-new boot screen and startup sound to a centrally-placed Start menu and upgraded widgets.
