Jason Todd is one of those characters who I just like better in fix-it fics, but my thirst for actual reconciliation is rarely quenched… that said, check out this fic, I love it so much and will be returning shortly.

I’m going through a (hopefully brief) Tim Drake phase (…again) and of the last ten fics I’ve read, eight of them have mentioned his (completely fanon) coffee addiction. I thought it was funny the first few times… but this is too much 😖

It was a good fanfiction… all of the Batfam were gay… it was nice and cute… Jason was part of the main group… and then the author suddenly decided that not only was Damian straight, he was homophobic. Could not finish.

My favorite thing in fics starring Tim Drake as Robin is when Bruce shows him any kind of affection and he just thinks Bruce is seeing him as Jason. No, this love and care can’t be because he likes or loves me, it must be him projecting his feelings about his dead son onto me. Yes, that sounds about right.

Why do some fanfics insist on peppering in homophobia??? Like, bestie, you’re writing the man who raised Superman, why are you saying he’s homophobic??? Why are some people so content to write Clark as homophobic??? Why did I have to read you use the r-slur when you could’ve literally just said dumb??? Why are people like this???

If you’d asked me yesterday what characters from My Hero Academia were incompatible, I would’ve told you Iida and Bakugo, but now… this fic changed my mind.

Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun is one of my favorite animes of all time but the fanfiction doesn’t have the same chaotic, almost manic energy. That said, this fic absolutely matches the craziness that makes me love the series.

For whatever reason I’m obsessing over Adrien having friends but more specifically Adrien and Gorilla just… getting along well? Wether it’s a father son relationship or them just caring about each other it’s something I’m really having fun with and this is a fic that has Chat Noir trying to comfort an un-akumatized Gorilla in the cutest way possible.

Maybe I’m a bad fan but to me the most interesting thing in the Miraculous Ladybhg universe is the Agreste family dynamics so this fic is the perfect amount of introspection without sticking too close to canon.

Imo at least a little bit of the derision that certain fandom behaviours come in for arises from people taking the denotation of what fans say too literally as representative of their actual beliefs. In fact fannish speech self-consciously takes part in exaggeration, heightened emotionality, figures of speech, hyperbole. “X shouldn’t have happened” may be an expression of the exact kind of emotional investment that the writers of the source material had hoped for, rather than an expression of the belief that the source material literally should have been written differently. The writer of a “fix-it fic” may not literally believe that their narrative solution is better than that of the source material’s author(s)—in fact an important aspect of fanfiction is that it can coexist with, without overriding, the source material. Writers of fanfiction in a lot of fandoms don’t even believe that their fanfic has equal status to that of the source material, much less greater status (look up ‘affirmational’ versus ‘transformational’ fandom).
The problem is that understanding the attitudes that fannish language is actually expressive of requires an amount of immersion that most people who deride fandom as a whole don’t have. But believing that you are more analytically sophisticated than vast swathes of people with varying beliefs and attitudes is very satisfying.

Miraculous fanfiction can be hard to read sometimes with the way it tends of flatten out the emotions of characters instead of aknowledging them alongside previous mistakes (think Marinette-leaves-Paris-because-her-classmates-chose-Lila-over-her fics) so finding any kind of Lila story that doesn’t diminish Marinette and Adrien’s feelings but also doesn’t villify the class for trusting Lila is way more difficult than it has any right to be but seriously you should check this one out because it hits all the right spots even if the summary and tags don’t make you think it will.

Fanfiction author: *explicitly stated characters ages, both of which are under 18*
Fanfiction author: These characters are kids and shouldn’t have to deal with the situations they’re expected to deal with. They’re not adults and people need to stop treating them like they are.
Fanfiction author: *writes explicit/semi-explicit smut into their work*

Was reading this Batman fic and although it was fun there were enough little moments that if it hadn’t ended when it did I was probably gonna drop it and the whole time I was just wondering why the author kept making these decisions like Timothy (not Tim. Multiverse stuff) getting along super well with Damian and starting to befriend Jason and not understanding why the Batfam didn’t fully trust Jason and I was so confused about al these little choices and then when I’d read everything published and backed out to the results page I saw that Jason/Tim was the primary ship and everything made sense.

These four brilliant stories are my favorite Avengers Think Daredevil Is The Actual Devil stories on ao3 because they’re actually amazing and I die of laughter picturing the scenarios they all describe.

I like reading Daredevil fanfiction because a lot of it is brilliant and some of the most well thought out, well written works I’ve ever come across and the other bit of it is *checks note cards* incredible fucking ableist? No, that can’t be right… *double checks cards* well… that’s not very fun

Just read a fic where the author was so invested in their own story that they completely misunderstood what actually happened in canon and couldn’t grasp the intended interpretation of certain characters actions… get well soon I guess lmao
