Valentine’s Songs & Smells
A Valentine-ish Spotify playlist, for you or for whoever you have ambiguous feelings for.
And a scent recommendation - today’s combo: Tom Ford’s Rose Prick (what a name) and Universal Flowering’s Death of a Ladies’ Man (apologies, this was a limited edition run so it may remain very exclusively mine) - named for a song with some of my favourite lyrics ever.
I’m dubbing this scent combo “apology bouquet”, but truthfully it’s a very green floral mix, with a hit of spice and powdery iris. I keep huffing my wrist and now I think I might be in love with myself. Apt!
I’ll leave you with an idealised image of how I’m spending Valentine’s Day.
Bye for now or until I remember I still have this thing. Listen … it’s been a time.

I guess I should update this thing.
I haven’t touched this tumblr since 2016. I only recently discovered that I still had the login information. Going through all of these old posts, which span the start of my time with xoJane in 2011, until my move to London in 2016, has been a wild trip down memory lane.
I’ve been trying to figure out a way to return to personal beauty writing. Yes, I still write for different outlets and yeah, I’ve been making beauty content on TikTok, but I still miss having my own spot to share my thoughts in writing. I have my website (long abandoned) which I use to host my portfolio but something about the recent conversations around tumblr and its aesthetic coming back has had me feeling nostalgic so … I guess I’ll try using this baby again.
I’ll be sharing beauty recommendations and inspiration wherever I find it. I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
P.S. what a trip seeing all my old posts, long lost xoJane articles, and proof that my aesthetic and personal taste has mostly remained the same …

What's your favorite product for revitalizing dry skin?
I like a good chemical exfoliator to get rid of flakiness and dead skin and allow for anything hydrating to penetrate better -- I love the Comodynes Easy-Peeling towelette for that, then I like to hydrate with rosehip oil to nourish, like Pai’s Bioregenerate or Sunday Riley Flora. Both leave my skin silky smooth.
