Aesthetic: green parking lots
They improve infiltration of water to the soil, thus reducing floods by excessive drainage from soil-sealed land, and contribute to environmental and human health! Also they look pretty.

Hell yeah chapulines, I’m so glad that this show is treating entomophagy as a.) cool and b.) a good source of protein.  (it’s The Final Table on Netflix)

So Etsy also has ‘human skull’ come up in it’s search bar if you type in ‘human’. (Which disturbing after reading this post) This resulted in a bunch of human skull replicas coming up some of which, to my uneducated eye, look rather realistic. So anyone who wants some creepy decor or something, you can do that without using real bones.
Another fucking bone thief?

2023???
Also I just looked it up and it just got worse. The first line of the news article.
“Imagine hurricane season without weather satellites.”
These aren’t just satellites monitoring ice melts, these are /weather/ satellites because what goes on in the Arctic effects /everything/ else.
Oh and the article is dated as 2016 and says the satellites where ‘on life support (and that may be generous)’ even back then. The article above is dated /2017/. In other words it was already a very big problem for awhile with people ringing the alarm long /before/ the new satellite was destroyed.
Unbelievable.

This tweet from scientist Jacquelyn Gill (@JacqelynGill) went viral, and for good reason. The war on science continues, and she summed up this story perfectly into 3 sentences on Twitter.
