3) Folklore;
4) Speak Now;
5) Midnights;
6) RED;

Because Percy is better lmao
I DON'T CARE about the Percy vs. Jason discourse. It's STUPID. They are both very powerful heroes with great accomplishment who had their childhoods stolen (then later had the lives they made ripped away for "the greater good")
At the end of the day, Jason never mattered to the Romans the same way the Greeks cared about Percy. JASON WAS THEIR LEADER THEIR NUMBER ONE WARRIOR. Percy was A GREAT leader but not in the way Jason was THE leader (alongside Reyna).
And when Percy went missing his camp never stopped looking for him, they scoured the earth and underworld for him.
When Jason went missing, no one looked for him. There was no search party, no loved ones stricken with grief praying the unthinkable didnt happen with every passing moment, no one who cared enough to drop everything that mattered to them for a seemingly hopeless search. He was REPLACED!! BY PERCY!!!

Gotta love seeing the UN discuss the war in Gaza. You can really see the difference between the republican and democratic administrations.
While in one you might have a white guy defending Israeli war crimes, in the other you have a black woman defending Israeli war crimes.

Might I suggest “Gold Rush” for your Taylor Swift/Pride and Prejudice thing? “What must it be like to grow up that beautiful/with your hair falling into place like dominoes” and “At dinner parties I call you out your contrarian shit/and the coastal town we wondered ‘round had never seen a love as pure as it”. Sums up Lizzie and Darcy for me lol
Love it! 💕

Trying to match Taylor Swift songs to Austen heroines lol Someone help me with Lizzie, Elinor and Catherine, because I feel like I need to complete this for some reason 🤣
Fanny Price:
"Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you? Been here all alone, so why can't you see? You belong with me."
Tumblr media
Emma Woodhouse:
"I should not be left to my own devices, They come with prices and vices, I end up in crisis (tale as old as time). I wake up screaming from dreaming one day I'll watch as you're leaving 'cause you got tired of my scheming (For the last time).
It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me. At tea time, everybody agrees. I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero"
Tumblr media
Marianne Dashwood
"Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street. Faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly. Loving him is like trying to change your mind once you're already flying through the free fall... Like the colors in autumn, so bright, just before they lose it all.
Losing him was blue, like I'd never known, missing him was dark gray, all alone, forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met... But loving him was red."
Tumblr media
Anne Elliot:
"Because the last time you saw me is still burned in the back of your mind... You gave me roses and I left them there to die.
So this is me swallowin' my pride, standing in front of you saying I'm sorry for that night
And I go back to December all the time. It turns out freedom ain't nothing but missing you, wishing I'd realized what I had when you were mine. I'd go back to December, turn around and make it alright... I go back to December all the time."

People claim that Fanny Price is insipid/weak, etc. but she actually has very strong morals and firm lines in the sand that she would never cross - not even to please her family.
Plus, specifically this speech is still very relevant. A lot of men think that just because they like a woman, and are "nice" to them, then that means that they are owed reciprocity - when in reality, of course, as Fanny says, women should be allowed to have their own feelings.
Fanny refuses Mr. Crawford, and specifically tells her uncle that she can't marry him because she doesn't love him, and is accused of being ungrateful and unfeeling.
Funny how a story that takes place about 200 years ago can still resonate so strongly today.
Like Amelia in Lovers' Vows, Fanny is unmoved by the temptations of wealth, status and sexual conquest. When she is given the rare opportunity to express her feelings, she does not hold back, as is shown in her gentle, but spirited, defence of her right to her 'negative’:
I should have thought …. that every woman must have felt the possibility of a man's not being approved, not being loved by some one of her sex, at least, let him be ever so generally agreeable. Let him have all the perfections in the world, I think it ought not to be set down as certain, that a man must be acceptable to every woman he may happen to like himself…. In my situation, it would have been the extreme of vanity to be forming expectation on Mr Crawford… How then was I to be - to be in love with him the moment he said he was with me? How was I to have an attachment at his service, as soon as it was asked for?"' (MP, p. 353)
This speech is remarkable for its encapsulation of the paradoxes of courship conduct for women, particularly those of a low status. Fanny's ‘settled dislike' of Crawford is not enough for Sir Thomas, or indeed Edmund, because Crawford is perceived as a socially acceptable ‘catch'; yet, paradoxically, it is precisely Fanny's lowly social status which precludes her from forming any expectations of Henry in the first place. Furthermore, when she is condescended to be noticed by a man of means, a man whom she has no right to consider in the first place, she is immediately expected to switch on her feelings, 'as soon as it was asked for’. […] Fanny, of course, is not in Amelia’s position of choosing her own husband, but she nevertheless exercises her right to refusal, as do most of Jane Austen's heroines. […] Austen has Henry Tilney advocating ‘women's power of refusal' in Northanger Abbey, but in Pride and Prejudice she conveys the limitations of a woman's 'no' in Mr Collins's and Darcy's refusal to accept Elizabeth's refusal. […] In Mansfield Park, Henry's reluctance to accept Fanny's refusal is proof of his gross selfishness. Even when she is softened by his conduct at Portsmouth, she still hopes to be released from his attentions: 'might not it be fairly supposed, that he would not much longer persevere in a suit so distressing to her?' (MP, p. 414).

I don't think that says anything about him in particular, but more about her own insecurities
I say that from experience as a very insecure person, whose boyfriend constantly reassures. It's not his fault that I have negative thoughts about myself sometimes
currently thinking about the lyric from peace:
Your integrity makes me seem small You paint dreamscapes on the wall I talk shit with my friends It's like I'm wasting your honor
i don't want to jump on the joe-hate train, but something about this lyric always felt so pained to me
like taylor was lamenting who she was
she spoke before about how this song is about all the stuff that comes along with loving her - the paps taking photos with telescopic lenses etc
but this lyric
this ONE LYRIC
always felt to me like she was regretting herself
who she was in relationship to him
he was SO HONORABLE and had SO MUCH INTEGRITY and she was a gossip
I feel like there has always been a part of her that wishes she could have been different for him
like who she was, how she socialised etc, was always an issue for him because he was such a gentleman and she was just taylor
and honestly????
what sort of partner would let their gf feel that way for all this time?

Just finished reading Chain of Thorns and I gotta say, I'm so disappointed for many reasons (and not just Christopher's death).
First of all, I don't know about you, but I just can't stand that the whole reason behind the famous family tree being completely wrong is just that "oh well, there's this quirky Shadowhunter who likes to make up family trees".
Like, instead of integrating this with the plot, making it so as the Shadowhunters (or Jem, as a silent brother) has a legitimate reason to alter the historical records, we got this slap dash, lazy, cop out.
Second of all, I know Alastair was a dick to the Merry Thieves when they were at school because I've read the short stories from TFTSA and GOTSM, but we never see that in the actual trilogy (which is supposed to be self contained). All we ever see is PAGES AND PAGES of him moping about how he can't be with Thomas when he's supposedly such a bad person, but throughout the books he's nothing if not loving and caring and mildly sarcastic.
And finally, after creating the perfect love triangle in TID, what in the name of all hells, was this forced thing between Mathew, James and Cordelia? Like, I love Matthew. But the books make it so clear that Cordelia is desperately in love with James, that every moment she spent with Matthew was just plain annoying. I'd keep reading only to move on already.
There is no way people were actually invested in Matthew/Cordelia, and that forced plot only served to turn Matthew, a character which I loved before the books, into merely an obstacle to the main character's happy ending.
Sorry, Cassie. I just don't think this was your best work.

You know, I love Messi as much as the next girl. He’s certainly one of - if not THE MOST brilliant players of our time.
However, I think it’s a disservice to football in general, and especially insulting to South American football, to try to bring down Pelé in order to claim Messi is the GOAT by saying that Messi is better because “Pelé never played in Europe”.
Of course nowadays european clubs attract the best players from around the world, but this wasn’t always the case. Back then, South American players played mostly in South America - and that in turn meant that some of the worlds best players played right here and not in Europe.
Messi himself, had him been born a few decades earlier, would probably, like his idol, Maradona, have played in South America.
Saying that Pelé “had it easy” because he didn’t play in Europe is not only elitist and eurocentric, but it’s downright stupid. If you want to know how Pelé would fare against European players, just look at his 3 world cup titles.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this was done on purpose:
youtube
Over here we have a scene from Bridgerton (which some might call "regency era gossip girl), especifically Kate and Anthony's dance scene. The music playing in the background is "Dancing on my own". Right after this scene they share that sexually tense moment in the office, while they claim to hate each other.
youtube
Over here we have the original Gossip Girl, which Chuck and Blair claiming they hate each other in a sexually charged moment. The same song is playing.
I mean? That has to have been done on purpose as an homage, right? RIGHT??
