I am extremely saddened. The way this man was handled by security is disgusting. I am, for the first time in my life, ashamed to be Canadian.
Over the past 2 years I have had my fair share of panic attacks from wearing a mask. On my weaker days I have flashbacks to a childhood trauma. At one point, early on in the pandemic, I had to sit on the floor of a grocery store until I was able to ride out the wave. To see that this guy, outside, is handled in this way for not conforming, after he stating medical exemption has left me in tears for humanity.
This far into this we need to be spreading love and compassion not hate and fear.

I use to hate garlic. Well, hate is probably a strong word. I didn't care if it was in stuff, but i would never eat it as the main flavour. ❤️ In a quest for health, my thoughts on food shifted from what I didn't like to learning everything I could about how the food I ate affected physical health. ❤️ This led to a great mental shift with a healthier outlook on eating. I developed a love of food that had eluded me in the past. ❤️ Mindful eating has given me an appreciation for the subtleties of flavour, bodily effects and emotional balance. I now LOVE garlic. ❤️ The only thing better than garlic is the scapes. Garlic Scapes are the long flower stalks that grow in early summer before the bulb forms. I woke up to a grey, rainy day. I had 2 thoughts that clashed with each other. ❤️ "Oh good! The garden needs a good soaking" . And . "Really! Why today it's my one day to spend exploring with Ri" ❤️ We had planned a hiking day with our son who is away for university. I hadn't seen him in a month. ❤️ I had two choices: be annoyed that our plans had to change or be grateful that at least I still had a day to spend with R. ❤️ I chose gratitude and after a beautiful downpour the sky cleared and we spent the day exploring a beach and wilderness area along lake Ontario. ❤️ My heart is full and my veglings are watered. When you look at this rose do you wish for it to be something other than it is? If the statement “you are what you eat” contains any truth then what are you if you eat lab made meat? ♥️ I am not against the consumption of animal protein BUT I do believe we consume far too much of it. While debate exists as to the how far we should go when it comes to the idea of eating like our ancestors, considering that our ancestors lived in a vastly different time and perhaps, place. I think that as biological creatures we should perhaps consider, biology! ♥️ Mindful eating invites us to consider the things we ingest. To be thankful for them. To cherish every bite and consider how it feeds not just the body but also the soul. Let’s consider the facts: ♥️ The planet cannot sustain animal farming to support the increasing demand/consumption of meat. ♥️ Daily consumption of calories has been on the rise with many north Americans consuming an average of 3600 calories per day. ♥️ Humans only require 1800-3000 calories per day (depending on gender, age, athleticism) ♥️ Daily physical activity is declining, we are spending more time in front of screens and less time being physical. ♥️ The food we eat is meant to sustain our activity. If activity levels are declining, then food consumption should decline. ♥️ Quality of calories and balance of nutrients is more important than the number of calories IF we stay within targets that support current activity levels, age and gender. ♥️ Soooo... . I’m thinking if we eat mindfully we won’t need lab made meat. ♥️ Mindful eating invites us to consider the things we ingest. To be thankful for them. Happy New Year! ❤️ After an indulgent night this Mediterranean salad bowl is the perfect lunch. ❤️ I topped the salad (a mix of iceberg lettuce, savoy cabbage and cucumbers) with some leftover steamed rice, a mix of black, red and brown, that I warmed slightly. Topped it with marinated artichoke hearts, green and black olives, fresh mint leaves and green onion. I'm not much of a dressing person so instead I drizzled a good quality olive oil and some red wine vinegar over top. ❤️ I am seriously in love with this rice mix, the nutty flavours and pretty colour! ❤️ This is often my go-to meal after a late night of indulgent food. What has the pandemic stollen from you? ♥️ Time, family ♥️ This is my Papa. He has lived with us for 11 years. In February he became ill (non covid related) while he was in the hospital the pandemic was declared. He got stuck in the system. ♥️ He had his 96th birthday alone in the hospital. Last week I got to see him for the first time since mid March. Now we get 1 visit a week. ♥️ It was sooooo hard not to hug him tight. 95 years he has spent his life surrounded by family .... now he is alone .... ♥️ He has been present for every single event in my and my families life. Next week my son leaves for university.
