Their “I Love You“s - Kaeya’s Story [PREVIEW]
𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: After another long night of drinking at the Angel’s Share, Kaeya stumbles onto your doorstep, hoping for your company.
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: Kaeya | gn!reader
𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 574
𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Slight angst
𝐀/𝐍: I dunno how janked the formatting is since I’m doing this through my phone but we’ll fix it later lmao. Had a lot of fun with this one tho it is on the short side.
𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝: Pending…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Baaaabeee,” Kaeya slurred, stumbling into your apartment. He giggled and leaned deeply into the door frame, his long hair spilling over his heaving shoulders. Even with his head lulling to his chest, the flush across his cheeks was too apparent not to notice. The soft scent of alcohol crept its way into the room. It wasn’t often that Kaeya showed up to your home this incoherent, however the situation wasn’t completely foreign.
With a sigh, you rose from the couch, setting down the book that rested in your hands. “Alright,” you said, holding your arms out to guide him inside, “let’s get you some rest.”
He replied with a low groan, waving you off. “I don’t need your help, babeee,” he insisted, holding your gaze with his smiling eye. He stumbled two or three steps into your living room and reeled to the side, catching himself on the edge of a wooden cabinet. It shook under his sudden weight, and the little trinkets placed on top ratted violently.
You tensed as a small statue of a cat clattered to the ground. “Kaeya, just let me help you,” you said, yanking him into you, slightly stumbling under his weight. Alcohol reeked from his breath heavy on your shoulder. “God, how many times have I told you not to come over this damn drunk,” you scolded, anticipating his morning hangover.
He laughed sheepishly. “You know I can’t do thaaat, my dear…” he mumbled, “if I accidentally choke and die, who would be there to kiss you, hm?”
Together, you managed to throw him on the couch, knocking the book you fell into off the side table to Kaeya’s feet. You grabbed a glass from the counter and filled it with cold water. “Drink.” You set the glass onto the table with a clear thud.
Kaeya turned his head to you, staring down the glass. “What’s this?” he cocked his head coyly. “My, my…thank you darling, but I really shouldn’t accept drinks from strangers.” His gaze met yours so sharply that if it had not been for the literal cloud of alcohol engulfing him, you would’ve fully believed Kaeya was sober. His eye then fell back to the glass of water, fogged and distant. “But,” he started with a smiling sigh, “I suppose for someone so lovely, it’d be pretty cruel of me not to accept it, right?”
You shook your head. “Stop joking around and just drink the water,” you huffed, reaching to pick up your book. With every move, Kaeya’s eyes locked to you, unmoving.
“Mmm, you’re really cute,” he considered, a heavy hand resting on your head.
“Uh huh.” You stood, letting his touch fall from you without a second thought, and grabbed a stool.
“I’m seriousss…” he protested, setting down the water and leaning forward with great effort. You settled down on the other side of the little table, flipping back to where you had left off. Unsatisfied with your lackluster response, he reached over and poked your cheek with his finger. You glanced over, seeing him with his head resting in the nook of his right arm. His left was still extended, pining for your precious attention. Even drunk and a mess, Kaeya still maintained an abnormally graceful demeanor. He grinned smugly as you set the book down, turning your full attention on to him. “Hehe…” he breathed out a cloud of alcohol and hummed happily. “I think…I love you, my dear…[Y/N].”
You laugh off his comment. “You always say random stuff when you’re drunk, Kaeya.” Every time he drank and you took care of him, he would profess his love. It was sweet, but you knew that it was just all the alcohol throwing his emotions around. This time however, Kaeya frowned. He sat up straighter, almost as if to get up. “You always say that,” he said abruptly.
His hair masked the sides of his face, so you could barely make out his expression. “Kaeya…” you started, but the words of assurance and comfort clung to the sides of your throat.
“[Y/N], do you….not love me anymore?” he asked into your silence. After a moment, he shook his head and said, “Say it back.” Still, the proper words were caught in your throat. Was this because of regret? Guilt? Was tonight the first time, or was it the tipping point? Lacking another response, Kaeya took a deep breath, failing to mask it stuttering. “Alright. I’ll be off now. It’s late,” he concluded, hazily moving to rise. “I apologize for the intrusion. It won’t happen again.”

Their “I Love You“s - Diluc’s Story [PREVIEW]
𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: After a long trip to Inazuma, you finally arrive back in Mondstadt. After such an exhaustive journey back, you opt to wait for Diluc at the winery.
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: Diluc | gn!reader 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 986 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: None
𝐀/𝐍: These were supposed to be shortttt ;-;-; But here, have Diluc’s full story before the hc is done hehe;;
also the shortest hc: amakumo fruit tastes like popping candy but more fruity because of its electric charge
𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝: Their “I Love You”s - Childe’s Story [PREVIEW] [Childe | gn!reader]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your travels brought you back to Mondstadt earlier than expected. Perusing down the valley amongst drifting crystal flies, the soft warm glow of the city drew near. Though dark, night was still young and the liveliness of the busy city wafted toward you, pulling you closer. Even at your distance, the aroma and voices of the city engulfed your body, calling you home. You abandoned your plan of stopping there and resting, and continued on, rejuvenated by the far off atmosphere.
As you approached the crossroads between Mondstadt and Springvale, you hesitated to venture further into the city. Although the sky dimmed considerably, it seemed to be barely midnight and the Angel’s Share was still packed with patrons. Any later and you would’ve slipped into the tavern to accompany your boyfriend, however, the trek to Mondstadt was less than forgiving on your energy. Exhaustion caught up to you, and you figured that you would just wait for Diluc at the winery.
Satisfied with the conclusion, you wandered into Springvale. Soft lights glowed in the windows of the cozy cottages, surrounded by flittering moths. Few people were outside, but one was able to spot your weary self approaching.
The man flagged you down. He was dressed in a simple tunic and dusted slacks. “Well, if it isn’t the infamous [Y/N]. Good evening,” he greeted, “may I ask what you are doing outside so late?” You quickly recounted your situation, and the man nodded in understanding. “Actually, I just happened to need some things delivered to the Dawn Winery tomorrow. If you’d like, I can lend you a horse to get there faster, if you take the shipment with you,” he offered, gesturing to a pile of crates covered in dark tarps stacked neatly in a carriage.
“That would be a lifesaver, thank you,” you responded, relieved. The man guided you to the wagon, beside which was a tall brown horse that stirred awake. While he tied the horse in place, you set your bag and weapon on the wagons creaking wood. The ache in your shoulders and arm immediately dissipated, allowing you to stand up straight.
“There you are,” the man said, “all ready to go.” He patted the horse’s side with a deep, hollow thunk, and watched as you climbed onto the wagon, taking the reins in confidence. “Thank you again,” you said. “I’ll make sure the wagon and horse are returned by tomorrow afternoon.”
With that, the man bid you safe travels and waved at you while you guided the horse down the path en route to the Dawn Winery. As the horse grew to a trot, the cool night breeze caressed your face and pushed the hair out of your face. The wagon shuddered and creaked every time it rolled over a small pebble, but its constant sway and jitter slowly lulled you to closing your eyes.
* * *
You arrived in time to see Diluc’s staff still floating around, slowly going about their final chores. The warm glow of flickering flames behind warped glass that hung from the wooden lamp posts welcomed you back. Crystal flies drifted between the dark grapevines, fluttering away as you approached. Leaving the cart with Ernest and his assistants, you slunk into the estate, greeting Adelinde who met you at the door. “Master [Y/N], what a wonderful surprise! Welcome back,” she smiled, “Master Diluc hasn’t returned yet, but I can prepare you something to eat for now—you must be exhausted.” Warm snacks by the fireplace sounded heavenly, but despite that you hesitated. You had brought some ingredients back from Inazuma to make one of the dishes that you enjoyed during your travels. “Actually,” you said. Rest tantalized your desires. “I have some fruit that I want to prepare.”
“Allow me,” Adelinde offered, but you quickly declined. Amakumo fruit, though safe to eat, was still charged with traces of Electro, and without proper knowledge of how to prepare it, the little fruit ends up singeing the tongue. She caved and let you to the kitchen, watching over your shoulder as you pulled out a small box of aromatic fruit. You carefully washed and cut bulbous purple-pink fruit that crackled in protest. Lost in the repetitive action, you failed to notice Adelinde had stopped watching and slipped out of the room entirely. A new pair of arms wrapped around your waist from behind, and a warm head snuggled into the crook of your neck. He smelled of faint alcohol, though you know it wasn’t from ingestion.
“[Y/N]…You’re home early,” he murmured into your shoulder. The hum of Diluc’s words shivered down your spine, and you sunk into his arms, breathing him in. Though his comment was simple, perhaps too much so, his words oozed with adoration and joy. His chest radiated warmth, beckoning you further into his embrace.
You gently laughed. “I missed you,” you offered as your eyes fell to the fruit in front of you. “Oh,” you broke the soft air, “here. A present from Inazuma.” You plucked a cut piece of Amakumo fruit from the bowl and turned in Diluc’s arms to face him. Its flesh pricked your fingers as little sparks burst. He glanced down cross-eyed at the electric fruit, slightly parting his lips. He took the little piece into his mouth and gave a small smile, satisfied.
“It’s very sweet, thank you,” he said, leaning in closer. Diluc pressed into you until your body was flush against his, and you lit aflame. His heartbeat against yours, his arms, palms, even fingers latching on to you, his lips smiling into your shoulder—Diluc made up for each day you were too far away for him to embrace. Oh, how he missed your presence over the last month; your letters alone were not nearly sufficient. With his voice, so soft and tired, mumbling, yet crystal clear, Diluc whispered, “I love you, [Y/N]. So much.”

𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝: Their Letters to You (II) [Albedo, Kazuha, Xiao | gn!reader]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Delayed Yearning:
My darling [Y/N],
I apologize for not writing back earlier. These days, the Yashiro Commission has been occupied with a multitude of items that require my attention, and I have not been able to escape until now. But, enough about that, it is unfair for me to write only about such menial topics.
I recognize that it has now been a few days into your excursion back to Liyue Harbour. I wonder if you thought about me in those days. I assure you, I’ve most definitely thought of you, darling. Even though you are not by my side, every night I drift to sleep with your lovely smile on my mind. You cruelly occupy every sweet dream of mine, and waking up, I cannot help but be saddened by you not resting in my arms.
I long to spend late evenings in your presence once more, but it would be selfish of me to beg you back to Inazuma for that sole reason. Perhaps I can escape the Commission for a few days to assist you in Liyue. I hear their tea is rather exquisite.
Safe travels, darling.
Yours, — Kamisato Ayato

>> Albedo makes an incredible teacher, however, he is also extremely strict and expects the absolute best from you, nothing else. If you happened to be the type to let your focus slip while being lectured, after being unable to complete the mountainous pile of homework he assigned you, the habit is quickly dropped.
>> He quizzes you relentlessly everyday without informing you of the types of questions that he plans to ask, allowing for no chance of preparation. Though it seems that his methods are needlessly cruel, Albedo works equally has hard to understand to make sure that you internalize everything he teaches.
>> He will switch from topic to topic all in a single lecture, claiming that it is to keep your mind sharp and alert, but it’s really because he frequently falls into tangents.
>> In addition to being a well-read scholar, Albedo is also a fine artist. In between classes, he used to sketch you as you worked, but it has become more of him teaching you how to paint, capturing the world around you.
>> Though he is a strict teacher, when he is not instructing you, Albedo makes for an amazing friend to talk with. He has experience with a multitude of different fields, so conversations are never dull. From his readings, he has also picked up great knowledge of many games, making him a worthy advisory for nearly all the games you challenge him to.
“Hm.” Albedo stares down a long page of calculations and diagrams. “Good,” he states, “you’ve improved, my Liege. However, please explain to me why you chose to find k rather than F first.” He glances up at you expectantly before adding, “It’s certainly not wrong, I’m just simply curious.”
* * *
Albedo’s eyes watched from the doorway, gaze striking over your shoulder. As you turned to face him, he strolled in with an indecipherable expression. “You shouldn’t face the window while you paint, my Liege. The light is much too harsh,” he said, picking your easel and turning it to the side so that the light poured in from all sides. Instantly, the colours saturated, rich hues of blues and purples warmed by the afternoon sun while the reds and yellows lit aflame. “How’s this?” he considered your work for a long moment before taking the seat behind you, watching as you resumed.

>> Diluc is very strict on the rest of the workers at the estate. His expects everyone to behave accordingly and stay on task. While he is strict on his staff, he’s even more strict on himself, not allowing himself to rest or take time to relax. >> He is also very aware of his place. Diluc will give you advice and guidance when requested, but he is very adamant on not providing his opinion unless told to. His job is to keep the estate and staff running smoothly, as to allow you to do your work in comfort. >> The man works the longest shifts out of everyone and few have actually seen him sleeping. He manages to be the last one in bed and the first one up every day. >> Diluc is always in uniform that is ironed sharp and spotless. Throughout the day, it becomes looser, but there is never a stain upon the fabric. Although, you had caught him once very off guard whilst he was up in the early morning hours, deep in some paperwork. His hair was disheveled and fell between his eyes, his tie loose around his neck, and his suit was tossed over a chair. To spare Diluc’s dignity, you wandered off in silence before he noticed your presence. >> To pull him away from his work, you’ve requested him to play chess with you for an afternoon. At first, he was hesitant, insisting he was unfit for the task and that you should request the mind of Albedo. But, he eventually succumbed to your insistence and now quiet afternoons are often passed with the soft thudding of wooden pieces moving across a checkered board, their shadows stretching with the setting sun.
You peered out of the pages of your novel and over at Diluc scribbling something in the corner. His eyebrows scrunched together, and his hair curtained some of his face, but despite that, he remained a picture-perfect example of a butler. “Diluc,” you set down your book, “it’s gotten late. Perhaps you should go to bed.”
The sounds of pen on paper breathed for a moment. He looked up at you, softly bowing his head. “Your care for me is most kind, my Liege. However, please don’t take the time to worry about me.” Diluc set down his pen and rose. “Allow me to escort you to your room. The day will be demanding tomorrow.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
𝐊𝐚𝐞𝐲𝐚
>>  Kaeya is ridiculously suave, and disregards you as his employer. He stands nearly atop you and barely acknowledges the concept of personal space. A favorite past time of his is simply toying with you, treating you a little too casually. Often Diluc has to step in and pry Kaeya off you, but you know that he’s only joking around. >> With his mastery over the spoken word, he aides you in navigating social situations, acting as an adviser of sorts. While he does insist that you keep face outside of the estate, behind closed doors, he’ll always be up for playing around, breaking rules, and having fun—much to the rest of the staff’s dismay. >> In addition to being an extraordinary socialite, Kaeya’s is talented in both the art of dance and fencing. He soon becomes your instructor for both disciplines, honing your grace and ferocity. >> In truth, Kaeya’s real job is not to aid your social life and give you guidance. He was hired to collect and provide Diluc with intelligence about potential threats to your family’s wellbeing. So while in the day, he mostly hangs around, lounging across couches and entertaining you, Kaeya spends nights mingling around the city, gathering priceless intel.
“Wonderful, my Liege,” he said, leading you across the ballroom. “And one, and two…” his grip around you tightened, pulling you closer to his warm chest. Nearly embracing, you stumbled over Kaeya’s sweeping steps and collapsed further into his arms. “Ah, my Liege, are you alright? You must be more cautious next time.” He kept you held in his embrace, pulling just far enough away to see your face. “If you wanted me to hold you, you could have just said so,” he said with a mischievous smile at the sight of your flushing cheeks.
* * *
“My Liege.” Kaeya rested his hands gently on your shoulders and leaned in from behind. You turned your head to face him. He was barely an inch away, reaching out for your cheek with a bare hand. “Allow me.” His frigid thumb pressed softly into your cheek, swiping across your soft skin. “It’s unsightly to leave the estate with paint smeared across your face.” Kaeya smeared the paint between his thumb and index finger in consideration. “Though, you look like quite the artiste when you do.”

Their “I Love You”s - Childe’s Story [PREVIEW]
𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: You were off collecting a bounty that should’ve been a small task. However, you bit off more than you could chew...
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: Childe | gn!reader 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 1189 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬:
Reader has close to death experience
𝐀/𝐍: I meant for this to be a short lil thing but got carried away hehe~ Also this is probably coming out before the master post, but look out for that later down the line (includes: Childe, Diluc, Kaeya, and Zhongli)
𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝: Their Letters to You (I) [Childe, Diluc, Kaeya, Zhongli | gn!reader]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Late afternoon sun beat against your back. It cast a shadow across the lazy grass that rippled with the light breeze. The delicate scent of flowers wafted through the field, while cicadas hummed in the fast approaching woods. Despite the slow afternoon, you were on your highest guard, creeping toward the edge of a small patch of wood. An eerie shadow lurched out, reaching for your feet. Straightening your posture, you step into the shade, drinking the cool air.
The moment of salvation was short-lived as the whir and lurch of mechanical gears creaked to life. A floating dark figure loomed in a small clearing just beyond the first line of trees. The giant figure locked its glowing red eye onto your now-alert self. Your sword quivers in your hand, and the pit in your stomach sank heavier by the moment. Collecting bounties by yourself, what a great idea, you scolded yourself. All of a sudden, it wasn’t worth it to risk your life to take on the ancient mechanical monster, just for a couple of ten thousand mora.
It gave no time for you to run off. In an instant, the machine’s right arm contorted into a sharp blade, slicing through the—now what appeared to be much too thin—wood. The slashing continued, creaking closer and closer. Your sword dipped violently, sweeping the grass at your feet. Shit, shit, shit, shit! A violent wave of splintered wood shot at your face, the flying machine now right on top of you. It slashed at you with two bladed appendages, meeting your hasty block. The metal clang chimed through the air as it attacked again, a slash to the torso. You crumpled to the ground, rolling across the soft grass, clawing at the ground to stumble out of the way. A gust of wind followed through, tearing at the left side of your body. Panicked, you staggered up, sword tight in both hands, and whipped your head in all directions, anticipating the machine’s next attack. The air grew still and warm. Tensely, you jerked around just in time to watch several missiles speed toward you. You leapt backward and slam back onto the ground, as the air was forced out of your lungs. Black blotches bubbled in your eyes, infecting the rest of the soft blue sky.
“[Y/N]! C’mon, you—” A constant ringing muffled the rest of the sentence.
“[Y/N]!” the voice called out again. He sounded distressed. Why was this person distressed? What was happening? Why was the world shaking? The red glow of sunlight against your eyelids pried them open just enough to reveal a blurry figure of grey and ginger gripping your body tight. This person was running, right?
A moment later, blue eyes rabid with fear met yours. “[Y/N]! Oh, thank the Archons. I’m here, alright, I’m here. You have to stay with me,” he said. “Chi…l…de…?” you mumbled back, reaching out toward his face. “It’ll be alright.” “Childe…? What’s…happening?” Childe didn’t stop moving. “It’s all going to be okay. Just keep your eyes open, alright?” His words failed to be calming, in fact, he recited the same sentence as if it would calm him instead. Childe’s warmth enveloped your body and your day of hunting started to creep on to you. It felt like a thousand hours went by since you last slept. Each moment that passed coaxed every inch of you to shut down. Sleep. Rest.
Immediately, Childe noticed your eyes beginning to glaze. “Fuck, don’t—[Y/N], listen to me, alright? I love you. I love you so, so much. So you’re gonna stay alive for me, okay?” You opened your mouth to say something back, but Childe cut you off. “Don’t say it back right now. I want to hear you say it when you’re healed and smiling,” he states plainly. “So, stay alive. Please.” The world began to slip. Clouds and the bright sky began to darken, and the rhythm of Childe’s running rocked your body softly to sleep. I’m sorry, Childe, you thought as you fell back into darkness.
* * *
Sunlight dripped tentatively into your room as the open window let in a light breeze that carried the sound of birds chirping away. Sharp pain struck your entire body, ripping through your muscles like fire, as you tried to sit up. The foreign room you found yourself in was organized with a desk and chair opposite of your bed. To your left was the window that woke you up. Most of the curtains were drawn, however, a sliver of sunlight caught the petals of a bundle of delicate pink silk flowers. To your right, a mop of ginger hair rested by your side. Childe’s back rose and fell with his deep breathing.
Carefully, you reach your hand to his head and rest it against his head, patting him affectionately. Childe shifted groggily, slowly lurching his body to an upright position. As he saw you, alive and well, tears pooled in his eyes.
“You’re awake,” he croaked, slowly reaching for your face as if you would disintegrate upon his touch. His fingers grazed your cheek, barely brushing against your skin in disbelief. Feeling your warmth, Childe cupped your face and stood, trying to close the distance between your bodies. “Thank the Archons you’re alive,” he breathed.
You smiled lightly. “Hey,” you manage to push out, “miss me much?” Childe collapsed in your arms, burying his face into the crook of your neck. You winced with the sudden pressure pushing against you, but the shock numbed in a moment.
Childe’s words were barely audible, despite the fact he was pressed up against you. He mumbles, rubbing your shoulders, still processing that you were in front of him, alive and well. “I love you, [Y/N]. I love you, I love you, I love you.” With every utterance of that phrase, he gripped you closer, sinking into your embrace.

>> If he isn’t in Mondstadt, he’s in Dragonspine, so Albedo is not difficult to pin down. His excursions are never long, and often you are able to travel with him up the snowy mountain, so letters are not wholly necessary. But, when you travel all over Teyvat, his letters are frequent. >> His letters can come off as cold, more reports than a conversation, but they are loving nonetheless. >> If you are off in distant lands, he will request that you bring some trinkets back for him to experiment on. Flora, small fauna, minerals, sometimes even soil or sand will supplement his work for months. >> Albedo’s letters come in slightly weathered envelopes, warped by snow and dusted with traces of his alchemic experiments. He does try his best to not contaminate the papers, but he writes while he waits for concoctions to react, so try as he might, some traces are left clinging on to the envelopes and papers. >> The pages themselves are tucked neatly into the envelope, dark scribbled writing peeking through the backs. His handwriting is nearly illegible. Refined and elaborate, but their delicate words take some time to decipher. But, with practice and adaptation to his script, the words will eventually unwind themselves. >> Because he writing in between his running experiments, Albedo has accidentally written some equations and observations in the margins of your letter instead of his scrap paper. Sometimes he realizes his mistake and crosses them out in a hurry, moving to a different sheet of paper. Other times, the letter he penned for you is sacrificed to his notes. >> On special occasions, Albedo slips a little alchemic flower into the envelope that sprouts in a burst of light upon opening. It lingers for brief moments before fading away.
Initial Notes on Crystal Marrow:
[Y/N]:
How are your travels? The weather is unrelenting the past days in Dragonspine, but I hope that isn’t the case for you. Thank you for the high quality Crystal Marrow samples you sent with your previous letter; I expect that they will be quite interesting to research when the weather lets up. Even with these small pieces, I believe I will be able to make them last a few weeks. Upon your return, consider stopping by at my camp. The experiments should conclude by then, with, hopefully, an intriguing application for them.
Also, a word of warning. I accidentally induced a reaction when I was treating it in preparation for temporary storage. It turns out the marrow is quite volatile when it comes in contact with water. Please be cautious if you are to encounter it again.
— Albedo

>> Kazuha will write for you everyday, gracing you with short, sweet haikus or long tales that unfold letter by letter. >> He takes great care in the letters he sends, making sure that the paper is smooth and crisp, and most of all, that each word says exactly what he wants. Even if he wrote outside in the worst storms, somehow, his letters are still devoid of any environmental damage. >> Often, he includes some pressed flowers or leaves that he drew inspiration from. They are delicately sandwiched in between the pages, so you’ve learned to be cautious when opening his letters. The first few times he sent these gifts, they’ve been swept away or slightly crushed. >> Kazuha usually sends his letters in envelopes that are folded shut rather than sealed with wax as he doesn’t often have any on his person. However, when he is aboard the Crux and has access to more materials, it is blindingly obvious from the quality of the ink and paper to the elaborate envelopes and seal Beidou lends him. >> His words start off neat, almost printed, but then slowly relax into a softer, fluid script. They are still legible, and from afar, appear no different from his starting words, but the weight behind each stroke becomes rhythmic, pushing and pulling the ink, mirroring his eloquence. >> Kazuha, though writing often, is not able to send them until he is in town, or run into someone who could deliver it to the Adventurer’s Guild. >> When his letters do arrive, there will be at least one or two that are slightly more dated. But, even having been written weeks prior, his words never cease to be riveting.
Travels with the Crux:
My dear [Y/N],
I write to assure you of my safety aboard the Crux once more. In the past days, I worry that I’ve brought a great deal of unnecessary concern upon you, as the weather had not been particularly favourable. But please do not worry. Everybody aboard the ship is an excellent seaman, highly competent, cooperative—and under the command of Captain Beidou, there is nothing to be of concern.
To further ease your kind worries, know that the weather has been favourable today. The sky glows a brilliant pale blue, the clouds are stark white, and the wind blows crisp and clear. If the wind continues to be in our favour, I expect that we will arrive in harbour by Friday’s dusk. Captain Beidou has extended to you an invitation to join her crew in celebration when we dock, which I hope you consider attending. The event is quite the marvel.
Sincerely, —Kazuha

>> Xiao is averse to writing letters. He doesn’t see the point of writing his thoughts on paper and waiting days for a response when he can be at your side in an instant. >> However, he will leave little notes for you to find after a long day. Common places for these small slips of paper are your pillow and by a still steaming plate of food. He also places a little trinket or some flowers to ensure that the note isn’t blown away. >> Because they are short, he doesn’t bother sealing the slips of paper in an envelope or rolling them up. At most, they are folded to be a small rectangle if the paper is too large, but it is not often so. >> Xiao’s handwriting is fairly neat. The strokes are sharp and slightly taper off at the ends. They appear to almost be pulled upwards, the individual strokes of the letters pulling apart to reveal slight gaps. The characters are also slightly misaligned; rarely do they adhere to a uniform angle. >> He doesn’t talk much about himself in his notes. Frankly, he doesn’t have the space nor incentive to burden you with his menial tasks. >> With extra time on his hands, Xiao will leave his note with his usual little flower and disappear, only to reappear half an hour later to see that you had not returned home yet. He’d then prepare you dinner and then disappear once again. Xiao will end up teleporting in and out of your home, leaving you small gifts, cleaning a bit here and there, and disappearing until he is inevitably caught.
A Quiet Morning:
Good morning… I hope that your night was restful. I’ve prepared some food for you to take with you on your travels today; please let me know if it is to your liking or not. Other than that, I wish you a day free of stress and worry. Stay safe, [Y/N].
— Xiao

Flowers of the Past
𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: One of the ascension materials required for most characters is a plant of some sort. For Kaeya, Calla Lilies and Diluc, Small Lamp Grass. But why, one might wonder, do they gravitate toward such flowers?
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: Diluc, Kaeya 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 655 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Slight Angst (?)
𝐀/𝐍: Was just collecting lamp grass for Diluc in the Whispering Woods and found some calla lilies and this kinda just came to mind. Also tried to go for a more fairytale, storybook kind of feel but I have no idea if that conveyed well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a small patch of woods just north of Mondstadt’s walls. The path is spotted with boulders embedded into the dirt, thick, tangled roots emerging from it, and patches of green-gold sunlight, filtered through the canopy of leaves above. Butterflies flit low, grazing the grass, squirrels scurry across tree trunks, and birds perch in the branches, watching the two young souls that wandered through. Side by side, they raced each other deeper and deeper into the woods, their laughter breaking the restful sway of the whispering wind. Both were dressed in white loose dress shirts and grey pants, faintly stained by grass and dirt. The two reached a clearing, carved out by softly bouldered terrain.
The boy with hair bluer than the sky itself held a stick in one hand, swinging it around while pacing in a circle, his eyes fixated on the rustling leaves. While he did, the second boy, whose hair appeared to be aflame due to the many little spotlights of sun cast down on him, crept near a small pond. Where the water met dirt, bulbous white flowers crowned with a band of orange petals gently swayed in the breeze. He gently plucked a single flower and twirled it between his small fingers.
“What’s that?” The first boy approached him from behind, similarly entranced by the slowly dancing flower.
“A calla lily. I didn’t know they could grow here.” The second turned to hold the flower up between them. “Here.”
The first boy dropped the stick in favour of the small flower, gently running his fingers over its soft petals. He then glanced around, scanning the clearing. His eyes locked onto a little patch of shade tucked away in a quiet corner where a few small blue berry-like plants grew. Their leaves cupped their stems, mimicking a bowl for the bulb to tumble into. The boy picked one up, wary to preserve the graceful curve of the leaves and the plant’s soft, bowing shape, and presented it to his counterpart with a grin.
The second boy accepted the peculiar plant and sat staring at the little thing moving with the wind. The first boy sat with him, the calla lily still delicately held between his fingers. A comfortable silence slumbered between them, filled only by a gentle lullaby the woods murmured that late afternoon.
* * *
There is a small patch of woods north of Mondstadt’s walls where many creatures call it home. People wander through all the time, to play, to date, to hunt. Few pay its path much attention, as it leads to Starfell Lake, but those who do slowly peruse its path, watching the bugs that scurry across the deep embedded stones and foxes that weave around the thick tree roots. A few times in the year, in the late afternoons and early evenings, two men wander on its path.
In rare afternoons, a man dressed in all black, despite the blazing sun, finds his way into the woods. He doesn’t venture any further than a small patch of shade in the back of a shallow clearing. The man sits with the small lamp grass, stroking their leaves with curiosity, not for the plant, but for whatever thoughts he had lost himself in. For a few moments, he’d sit in utter silence before disappearing.
In even rarer evenings, a man in elaborate clothes and bright blue hair wanders into the woods. Upon entering the woods’ shade, his awareness of the present is already gone. He is drawn to a small puddle that harbours growth to a bit of grass and a few calla lilies. Not wishing to destroy their delicate existence, he settles himself on the rocks around the pond, watching the flowers intensely until nightfall.
Though never crossing paths in those woods again, the two men listen for the sweet lullaby it sang for them, staring at the flowers the other had gifted them all those years ago.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞
>> He writes to you whenever he can, whether he is thousands of kilometers away or in the other room, you can expect to receive at least a little note. >> As someone who is always having to leave you for long stretches of time, you and Childe have grown accustom to writing each other letters. >> If he’s far away from you, he tries to write whenever he gets a spare moment, so letters can come from between every few days—some even arriving on the same day—to once a month if work keeps his attention for too long. >> When they do arrive, they never match the previous ones. The papers vary from crisp, clean, stark white to crumpled and flattened out so many times that the ink, often cutting from black to blue to bright orange and then back to black, is faded beyond comprehension. The envelopes are usually standard white or black, perhaps tinted a colour, while other times, they are square, or tiny, or simply non-existent and his letter is rolled onto itself and fastened with twine. >> Childe writes with and on whatever is close by at the time, valuing the words over the implement with which he pens them. >> His handwriting is hasty and varies, frequently bordering on illegible. The energy that pours from just the way he writes his words say so much, each stroke expressing his excitement, frustration, and longing. >> His letters range from a few sentences wondering about your day to pages upon pages of anecdotes of the distant lands he’s traversed. Little happy faces or clusters of hearts are dotted in between sentences or in the margins that his words  push up against.
Greetings from Fontaine:
Hey [Y/N]!
Are you doing well? Have you eaten? I’ve just arrived in Fontaine a couple of days ago, and it is quite stunning. I apologize for not writing sooner; work had me running around all week. But don’t fret, I have the next few days free of obligation. In these coming days, would you like me to buy you anything? Name it and it’s yours. Also, this letter should come with some delicacies that I was able to send without them spoiling. Remember to think of me while you enjoy them!
I know I haven’t been in Liyue in a while, but I’ll be home in a few weeks. Wait for me till then, okay?
I love you <3, — Childe

>> When you are away from him, Diluc tries to write as often as possible. He often does so after completing his mountainous pile of paperwork, the thought of you being his motivation to finish. >> There’s been times that he, exhausted and begrudging, pushes his work to the next morning, but even in such a state, insists on writing you something. Busy as he is, Diluc will find time for you, even if you are on the other side of the world. >> The letters he writes are sealed with wax in a crisp off-white envelope and smell faintly of smoke. The papers are creased into thirds to fit. >> His handwriting is neat, but fluid. Long letters stretch out the page and lean to the right margin. While they are distinct and elegant, each letter is simple: no extra embellishments hang on or in between the characters. >> If (when) Diluc runs out of space, he starts fresh on a new sheet of paper rather than writing on the back, in case the ink bleeds through. >> He tries to send the letter as early as he can, but Diluc is a busy man, and it ends up sitting on his desk for a few more days at the forefront of his mind. There’s been times when, reluctantly, he had to get one of his maids at the Winery to mail it for him. >> Though the words in his paperwork are sometimes incomplete or blotted with drips of ink, as a result of his pen moving to the next strokes too quickly, he takes his time writing to you, savouring the quiet moments in which he almost feels your warmth.
Nightly Musings:
My dearest [Y/N],
It pains me to have you so far away from me, considering what a lovely night it is. From my desk, I count hundreds of stars, and not one cloud dares shield their beauty. The moon is bright as well, so much so that I may write to you with only its light. I can only wish you see a night sky as clear as the one above me. If not, then when you return, and when the weather and my work allows, we should take advantage of the wonderful sight and go for a stroll around the winery, just you and me and the flittering fireflies.
I expect that you are taking the upmost care of yourself. Beyond that, I hope that I may occupy even just a fraction of your thoughts, as you devour mine.
Yours, — Diluc

>> Though his person may be far, Kaeya’s flowery words will always chase after you, no matter where you go. >> Even if you’re just running errands in Mondstadt, Kaeya will write a little letter and personally deliver it, sneaking up from behind you and slipping it into your hands with a smirk before heading off. >> He writes his letters to you during his breaks, slipping in a few words when he gets the chance. He also tends to leave them amongst the other paperwork on his desk, so when he finds himself unable to focus, he whines to you through the page. >> It doesn’t do him any good, though. One too many times, Kaeya caught himself staring into space, watching the half complete letter as if it’d scurry off if he weren’t careful. Somehow, his loving gaze will follow all the way to when you eventually open the letter. >> His letters are written on plain parchment and sealed in an envelope marked by the Knights of Favonius. Your name is written on the back, with a very obvious “From Kaeya” underneath. >> The letters are usually no more than a page in length, sometime pushing on two, but never over. He’d rather hear about your adventures than ramble about his monotonous day-to-day activities. >> They are penned in a deep blue ink, each word neat, rich, and threaded with elegant swirls and arcs that dance across the page; some sit with heavy dots of ink on their down stroke. >> Almost all his letter are charming. Almost. There has been one or two he’s sent when he was drunk and incoherent.
Kaeya’s Windblume Invitation:
To my lovely [Y/N],
The days are long without you by my side. I can’t say I have much to look forward to except heading to the tavern after hours. Pitiful, I know.
In other news, there has been quite the stir with Mondstadt these past days. It seems that everyone is preparing for the Windblume Festival once again, so the city has not rested. I do hope that you don’t plan on leaving me alone during such an occasion. It’d be such a shame if I would have to spend it without you by my side, my dear. When you return, come spend some time with me at the tavern. I’m sure that you’ll have a lot of stories to tell.
I’ll see you soon, — Kaeya

>> Zhongli can spend entire afternoons writing to you, sending pages upon pages for you to lose yourself in. He often goes on tangents, so the letters are neither about you nor himself.  >> He takes time out of his day to wander the streets of Liyue Harbour, taking in the lively atmosphere, before settling down near a window that pours in slats of sunshine with a steaming cup of tea to write.  >> Preferring to speak to you face to face, Zhongli only really writes if you're away from home for an extended period of time. He can wait a few days for you to return if it means a closer conversation. >> On your longer travels, though, he sends letters frequently, assuring you that there is someone awaiting your return. And while he tries to wait for your response before sending another, some letters do find their way to your hands before you get the chance to write back. >> His letters arrive in elaborately marked envelopes; streaks of dim, earthy browns and brilliant golds wrap around the edges. It contrasts the stark white paper inside, only his words to decorate the void. >> The words on the page are elegant and loose, yet they are so consistent that each letter could've been stamped on individually. There is also no hesitation in the marks he makes; the crisp black lines cut through the white so deeply that it bleeds through to the other side. >> He doesn't tend to ask that you return quickly, thinking it impolite to rush you for his sake. However, that doesn't stop Zhongli from expressing him missing your bright smile and soft embrace.
Autumn Arrives Once More:
Dear [Y/N],
I hope you are doing well on your travels. The seasons are changing once again, so please take the time to dress warmly. Having just returned from a perusal around the square, I must say, the leaves are more stunning as the years advance. It's quite pitiful that their most exquisite state is the briefest, but, I suppose, the temperance adds to their beauty. Funny how nature is so cruel in that respect. I am often reminded of the temperance of life; there are many artifacts of the past I remember with perfect clarity, but I alone carry their legacy.
Through time is a cruel mistress, her burdensome grip is lightened by your company. You pull me into the present so that we may observe the shifting of the seasons together. I thank you for that. My only wish is to walk the length of the harbour with you before the final leaves wither.
Safe travels, my love, — Zhongli
