It happens to me since I was a kid, and yeah, these things help. 😊
Avoiding Chub Rub this Summer
Tumblr media
Hey so if you're a person whose thighs touch when you walk and you want to wear skirts, shorts, or swimsuits this summer without chub rub this is the quick guide from a fat person who enjoys wearing skirts.
For those who don't know, Chub Rub is a painful burn that’s caused by friction, which generates when bare thighs rub together during walking and running and is exacerbated by heat and sweat.
There are two main ways to avoid Chub Rub, broadly speaking.
The first one is:
Tumblr media
Physical Barriers work by keeping your thighs covered in fabric so they don't touch and chafe.
Bike Shorts -Pro: Comfortable, stretchy, has pockets. Perfect if your skirt is longer than your shorts and not sheer. Super good in the winter. -Cons: Hot, almost never come in neutral or skin tones, so they’ll show up under anything sheer.
Bandelettes- Thigh bands that stay in place with a silicone strip. They can be cute, like garter belts, or simple. -Pros: Comfortable. Can be sexy, More discreet than shorts, Excellent choice if you want an exposed midriff. They stay in place all day. Easier bathroom access then shapewear or bike shorts. -Cons: No pockets. May not be wide enough to be effective for extra good thighs. Silicone bands that hold them in place can pull hairs and be painful.
Shapewear -Pros: Almost always come in skin tones. Shape the booty, slide really well. Cooler than bike shorts. -Cons: Extra difficult bathroom access, often high waisted and long so they don’t work well with short skirts. rarely have pockets.
The big con to this category is that you're limited in how short your skirt can be since for the shorts and bandelettes to work they need to be long enough to cover all parts of your thighs that touch when you walk. Depending on the shape of your legs, thighs, and your gait that could mean your shorts are pretty long. For me, I'd need my shorts to be almost knee length to be effective.
Tumblr media
Knee length shorts under mini skirts aren't for me. Which is where the second category comes in!
Tumblr media
The title says it all. These are various kinds of gels and stuff that you apply directly to your thighs to keep they sliding smoothly past one another without chafing.
The big pro of this category is that all the products are Invisible so they work with every fit, no matter the size of the thighs! They’re even useful when wearing swim suits. Just remember to reapply after you get out of the water. The cons are that some formulas can cause breakouts, and most will need to be reapplied several times throughout the day so you’ll have to carry it around with you. None of these specific brands gave me breakouts, but my skin is not your skin.
There are other anti chafing gels and creams and sticks out there, but these are ones I've tried and like very much.
Monistat anti chafing gel Lasts: 3-5 hours Invisible, cooling, feels great on the skin. Works even through high heat and sweat. I’m sensitive to textures and the powder-like feel of this stuff when it’s dry is amazing. I'm not sure if it's "waterproof" but I sweat in my thigh area a lot and this stuff really sticks it out like a dream. It lasts far longer then I do between bathroom breaks so I just reapply it each time I use the bathroom and let it dry on my thighs for a minute.
Megababe Thigh Rescue Lotion Anti-Chafe Stick Lasts: 3 hours The deodorant stick makes application easy and fast, It goes on smooth and feels fine! Comes in a mini version that makes it easy to keep on your person and reapply through the day. The big con is that this stuff melts kind easy on hot days. which makes a mess in your bag or pocket. It doesn’t do great with sweat and will need to be reapplied more often. It's unscented.
Skin Slick spray Lasts: 4-5 hours. This comes in an aerosol can so it’s not an option if you’re flying. Outside of that, it’s great. Feels nice and keeps your thighs cool. Goes on fast and easy, works well even when you’re sweating because it’s designed for sports. The best option for beach days.
To finish this post off here are some commonly suggested chub rub hacks i don't recommend and why. Deodorant- ineffective and if you use the wrong kind, it can actually make it worse. Baby Powder: Okay so this a mixed bag. Over all, it does work pretty well for a short time. And who can deny that there isn't much that feels better then a healthy sprinkle of baby powder down your shorts on a sweaty day. It soaks up your sweat and makes you feel cool and dry. The problem is that it doesn't work for very long before needing to be reapplied, by which time the previously applied powder is clumping. Not to mention it leaves white powder all over the place. I'll be honest, I often put this stuff in my bag when I'm going to be outside all day in the hot sun. At pride, summer festivals, hikes, camping, fairs, I always have it with me just in case. But I have to be a little desperate to bust it out because it makes such a mess and smells so strongly. It's a last resort.
The Chub Rub Patch- This is the absolute worst thing I've ever tried for chub rub. It's essentially a large band aid with no pad that you stick on your inner thighs. Throughout the day, the edges of these patches kept getting caught on one another and starting to peel and stick to my other thighs which gave me worse chub rub then if i had used nothing. I thought maybe I applied them wrong, so I tried them again the next day, this time taking care to make sure my thighs were clean and dry before applying. Same thing happened. And they hurt to take off. Like a band aid. They're single use, and pretty expensive. They come in one size, so they won't work for a lot of bigger thighs. These suck. They're ugly as fuck too. Do not use these things.
Body/baby oil- This is a very effective way to fry up your thighs. After a day of walking around you're thighs will look just like fried chicken.
Body Lotion- a move i've only ever seen attempted out of real desperation. This is a bad idea. The lotion rubs in so fast that you won't get ten steps before needing more. If you're chub rub is bad enough that you're trying this hack, it's time to find a pharmacy and get some Monistat anti chafing gel. I once saw a woman at a pride tie two trash bags around her thighs and it worked better then lotion.
Happy Summer Everyone! And don't forget sunscreen! Especially if you have dark skin because dark skinned people are significantly more likely to die of skin cancer in the USA and Europe then light skinned people. Even if you don't think you'll burn that day, you're still being irradiated by the sun!

Yesterday’s photo for day 3 of #30dayphotochallenge is #pink. I love this little zodiac book; it gives a lot of cute information, like favourite plant, day of the week and so on. . Also, look how much my baby roses 🌹 have grown! They were just little bulbs a week ago. . Day 2 of #30dayphotochallenge is #coffee . Also, for #RFABJune21 by @reviews_from_a_bookworm we have : Standalones. . In May I only finished one book: A Pocketful of Rye by Agatha Christie. I was a nice read, I gave it 3.5 stars. The ending wasn’t excellent, but it was somewhat satisfying, the criminal being one you wouldn’t expect, but could easily guess. The characters were lovely in their own way, and one of my favourites was Mary Dove. This is the first “Miss Marple” book I have actually finished. I love Poirot more than anyone, but I can’t deny that I was attracted by this book, the setting, the plot and the characters. . What are some Agatha Christie books you definitely love? . #minireview #bookstagram #pixlr #maywrapup #wrapup #bookandcoffee #greenbook #pinkroses #handmadebookmark https://www.instagram.com/p/CPp15G2L6k4/?utm_medium=tumblr

I decided to take photos again for the #30daysphotochallenge cube, which I took in 2018 and wasn’t quite happy with the results. . I’m a little late but here is day 1: #me. So here I am, with my perks and flaws, being a cat lover, coffee devourer, moon obsessed, and reader. Favourite colour: red. Hogwarts House: Gryffindor. Age: 25. Kilograms: 45.. just kidding, won’t tell you that 😄. Zodiac Sign: Aries ♈️. Fun fact: I love high places but I’m afraid of heights. Favourite books this year: The Wicked Deep by @sheaernshaw; Neverworld Wake by @marishapessl. . What about you? What stuff do you love? . #canva #pixlr #bookstagram #books #bookandnature #thewickeddeep #summer https://www.instagram.com/p/CPmssUDrcxO/?utm_medium=tumblr

Hey everyone! Long time no post. I hope you are all well and safe. . In April I finished two books and I want to talk a little about them: • Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie (5 stars ✨). As usual, there are a lot of characters and you can easily get confused about who is the wife of who and so on. I had to go back several times to remember this. Other than that, the story was catchy and I couldn’t put it down, and the criminal is someone that you wouldn’t really expect. However, when I had about a quarter left of the book, I made a guess, and at the end I was right about the one who did it. That was the most satisfying feeling I had in a while! • A Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena (4 stars ✨). This married couple (Tom and Karen Krupp) is one you don’t read much about in books and you don’t really see on screens. The struggle they face in this book is real and they act so natural and realistic! They seem more realistic than people we see in real life. They also evolve a lot throughout the book. The description and details are also very real and this is a big bonus of this book. It’s intriguing and exciting. The ending wasn’t really my cup of tea, it kinda let you in the air. But all in all it is a really great book that you should read at one point in your life, especially if you enjoy mystery books. . What have you guys read in April? Also, what do you think about my new editing style? I kinda like it, although I have a lot to learn about how to use it. 😄 . #canva #aprilwrapup #minireviews #astrangerinthehouse #redbook #bookandflowers #bookstagram #greenbook #coffee #wrapup #bookintrain #bookandcoffee https://www.instagram.com/p/CPINYZ9rrJx/?utm_medium=tumblr

Happy weekend, everyone! 💥 . I’ve been meaning to post these photos for a week now, but I had a full schedule at work and life so I didn’t manage to be more active in here. . In February I read 3 books: • The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson (4 stars ✨). • The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw (5 stars ✨). • Watching the Grass Grow by Diane Michaels (ebook; 2.5 stars ✨). . Now, I want to talk a little about The Wicked Deep. It’s a fantasy book set in Sparrow, Oregon. We see the perspective of a girl named Penny, who lives on the Lumiere island near this town and just finished her last day of 11th grade. But she is fully aware that the next day the Swan curse will begin, like it happens every year ever since 1823, when the 3 Swan sisters (Marguerite, Aurora and Hazel) were killed, thrown in the water with rocks tied to their feet. Every year the three sisters possess three girls and kill three or more guys by making them come into the water and keep them for eternity. At the same time, a new boy, Bo Carter comes into the town without knowing anything about this curse. I won’t tell more about it because this book is a treasure that needs to be discovered by all of you. This book crushed me and I cried at the end! It was so beautiful, and it showed me the true meaning of sacrifice for the one you truly love! I resonated with this so much and I 100% recommend this book to everyone out there! . What is your favorite book and why? Tell me in the comments. . #bookstagramchallenges #pixlr #bookstagram #wrapup #thewickeddeep #minireview #courtofreading #rfabfeb21 #bookbookowlfruityfebruary #booksandroses #coffee #booksandcoffee #pajamas #bookmarks #jewelry https://www.instagram.com/p/CMEvTp0AcCz/?igshid=xyxeg6njm7ly

February was a great month overall, with good and bad. I met new people, I read 3 books (2 of then were amazing), I’ve gone through a breakup, but eventually life goes on. And most importantly, I bought 2 books for myself and recieved 4 others as a gift ☺️. . This is day 27 of: • #CourtOfReading by @mariannareads_ : February Book Haul. • #BookBookOwlFruityFebruary by @bookbookowl : Mandarin: Book with short chapters (The Chain). • #RFABFeb21 @reviews_from_a_bookworm : Bought in Feb. . I bought the ebook verson of “The Perfect Child” by Lucinda Berry (not in this picture) and “The Chain” by Adrian McKinty. Can’t wait to get into these! . Now, I want to thank @iulianacazan__ for the gift she gave me. I will post another picture with how everything was wrapped up. I received a pair of earrings, a necklace, a big candle 🕯, a few handmade bookmarks made by her mother (such a talented woman), Brazilian coffee and 4 fantasy books: • The Novice and The Inquisition by @taranmatharuauthor . • A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. • Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas (finally 😍). . What books and/or games have you bough and/or received in February? . #pixlr #bookstagramchallenges #bookstagram #booksandcandle #bookmarks #booksandcoffee #burningcandle #bookhaul #books #bookishgift #booksandflowers https://www.instagram.com/p/CLzQUo9Ab_k/?igshid=1gdjkrtd1xg5x

Hey there bookworms! How was weekend for you? Have you read anything good? . Today I’ll write the mini-review of “The Kiss of Deception” by Mary E. Pearson. But first, for yesterday’s prompts we had: • #CourtOfReading by @mariannareads_ : #SockSunday . • #BookBookOwlFruityFebruary by @bookbookowl : Wine: A book with festivities. • #RFABFeb21 by @reviews_from_a_bookworm : #ShelfieSunday . This book had one festivity that took many days, so it counts too. . The Kiss of Deception is the first book in “The Remnant Chronicles” trilogy. I gave it 4 stars, but I really liked it. We see the Point of View of princess Arabella, or Lia, how she calls herself. In order for her father’s kingdom Morrighan to unite with the Dallbreck kingdom, she is forced to marry the Dallbreck prince. But a night before leaving, she run away with a servant, Pauline, that is also her best friend. They go to a nice little village where Pauline used to live before and she starts a new life. Until the prince (which we see the perspective of at times) and also an assassin from Venda (which perspective we also see at times) happen to be there as well. It’s interesting how things turn out, but I think I had too high expectations from the twists in this book, and they weren’t that mindblowing as I thought, because I’ve already figured a few things out. But that didn’t ruined my pleasure for this book. The ending was a little disappointing, because at one point it was exciting and things started to happen in a much more intense way, and then it decreased again, ending in a more exciting but confusing way, leaving out with a few unanswered questions. So yeah, I need the second book to see what happens next. P.S. : The book has a map, some poetry that you will see the meaning of later, and a few stories that will also make sense later. . Let me know if you’ve read this book, how did you like it and what impressions it left you with. No spoilers, please. . #bookstagramchallenges #shelfie #thekissofdeception #greencover #booksandsocks #library #books #pixlr #bookstagram #bookmap #fantasy #theremnantchronicles https://www.instagram.com/p/CLlqt20gHr3/?igshid=1npmxk8k33i8j

I’ve decided to participate in 3 photo challenges. Haven’t done that in a very long time! . I’m a little late, but here are the prompts for day 5: • #CourtOfReading by @mariannareads_ : Love Triangle. • #BookBookOwlFruityFebruary by @bookbookowl : Kiwi Fruit: Green Cover. • #RFABFeb21 by @reviews_from_a_bookworm : Contemporary. . Getting back to my latest post, I talked about the 10 books I chose for the #TryAChapter Tag, and 2 days ago I finished the second book. . I gave Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl 5 full stars! It was the only book I finished in January, but it is my new favourite! Thank you again, @andreea_chiuaru for giveaway-ing this book! I will talk more about it in a future post and I will also give the link to the Goodreads review when it’s ready. The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson is the first book in The Remnant Chronicles and it was a very good book. I gave it 4 stars, but the ending was such an abrupt cliffhanger, so I need the next book to know what happens next! Again, I will talk more about this book in a future post. . The third book I started is The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw, i’m 31 pages in and really like it so far! The only 2 aspects I don’t like are the high school trope and the cliche side characters. But we will see later on how it will go. . Have a lovely weekend! Let me know what you plan on reading. . #bookstagramchallenges #books #library #bookstagram #mug #pixlr #purplecover #greencover #photochallenge https://www.instagram.com/p/CK8opU_gdj4/?igshid=1gyu1d5o720j1

Happy New Year, everyone! 🎂 . The big reading slump I had in 2020 kept getting on my nerves, so I decided to start the “Try a Chapter” Tag. I took 10 random books from my library and started the first chapter. . The books are: After Dark by Haruki Murakami. A pocket full of rye by Agatha Christie. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Zero Zone by Lavinia Cãlina (a romanian book). Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie. The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson. A Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena. The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw. Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl. The taking of Annie Thorne by C.J. Tudor. . All of them were interesting and exciting, but the one I’m more inclined to reading right now is Neverworld Wake. So I will continue with this one and keep you posted. . I wish you all a very productive 2021! 😊 . #newyear #bookstagram #lights #bookstack #silverstar #2021tbr #tryachaptertag #festivelights #pixlr https://www.instagram.com/p/CJx9djVgpgF/?igshid=18t5qsuvuyu81
