watching the sdcc panel and i am just very :) about how sweet their answers to “what are some of the micro moments from the game that have stuck with you the most over the years?” are. taliesin saying what the fuck is up with that which was the first like The Party Gets To Know Each Other moments of c3. travis saying asking his wife if he could kiss her in campaign. marisha going way back to the cannonball competition in campaign one. ashley choosing the beauyasha date but also just the silly goat noise matt made. liam adding onto that to compliment matt roleplaying grass so well and then saying his favourite moment was writing a story for laura and reading it to her as caleb for jester. and then matt saying that was his answer, and that his favourite moments of the game are when they find ways to give gifts to each other whether tangible or not. and sam saying his favourite moments have less to do with the story and is more so when he can just. see his friends across the table from him. when marisha perches and when laura and ashley are (badly) drawing dicks and liam saying he loves when sam sneezes and ashley tells him to stop it and just. yeah. they Are an extremely popular online powerhouse, but i’m so happy that they’re also friends building a world together out of gifts to and love for one another.

like i Am so enamoured with the characters and the world of exandria but the moments when you can feel the love that those people have for each other reach out from behind the stained glass of their performances (to steal a metaphor from brennan lee mulligan) are so extremely special and i am endlessly grateful that they decided to share their silly little home game with the world.

Update on this btw: had our 2nd session today and rolled ANOTHER NAT ONE on a Con save, so according to the rules I should have died and come back the next day as a vampire (despite already being undead and also a werewolf) but the Druid’s player used his Birthday Point to undo it and I have never been so grateful in my life. I was NOT ready to lose Avra. But yeah, apparently the dice REALLY want me to get every kind of supernatural curse possible.

First CoS session went great. I rolled worse than I ever have in my entire life (including at least 7 nat 1s). Here's the hightlights: (No real CoS spoilers, especially since this is a heavily modified version.)

First roll of the campaign: NATURAL ONE. I tried to sneak up on half the party (I'm a rogue) and biffed it.

Later, I pissed off strahd so he knocked me unconscious.

After that I got bit by a dire wolf and rolled a nat one on the con save so I'm a werewolf now.

We went to see some hags and the party druid rolled a nat 2 to brew a potion to help me.

I rolled a nat 1 on my con save after drinking the botched potion.

I transformed, rolled terribly the entire time and only hit with one attack.

Got knocked unconscious.

My idiot party members healed me so I transformed AGAIN.

This pissed the hags off so they knocked 3 of us unconscious (including me for the 4th time) and only let us live if we agreed to sell their humanoid meat pies in the village.

As you can tell, off to a stellar start. This whole thing was made better (or worse) by the fact that I'm running on less than 2 hours of sleep, and was slowly losing my mind.

I have never, ever in my life rolled this badly. Ever. It was SO FUNNY.

#none of the above?? my upcoming bard was pied-piper'd into the feywild as a child some unknown period of time ago. #was trained to be a bard there and also gained a warlock patron. (mechanically archfey but actually the jester god of death Fin.) #got sent back to the real world on a mission and appeared in the woods with absolutely zero memories before that moment. Not a one. #they're weird and kind of unsettling at times but very friendly. Will charm you to get what they want but has no idea that that's Not Okay. #the music they play sounds slightly wrong like it's not made for human ears. Got bored and decided to do this thing with my favorite movies, shows, and video games. I couldn't come up with enough of any of those three categories to fill the whole grid, so I said "fuck it" and put all of them on one. If you've ever wondered what my taste in media is, well here's a look at my faves. (I made one for books to, but I couldn't fill the last two spaces, so I'm saving it for later.)

I love that folks are being more accepting of autism, but I don't love that autism is being sanitized into a quirk.

There's a cute and acceptable form of autism on social media, and I don't see any indication that folks are remotely ready for discussing the rest of it, which contains all the uncomfortable things that impede a person's everyday life, require support, and make acceptance almost impossible—where the hygiene struggles, inappropriate social behaviors, involuntary movements and outbursts, meltdowns, and emotional dependence issues live. And the cuter and more sanitized the "good" autism gets, the more unacceptable the "bad" autism becomes.

trying to describe black sails to people is my personal sisyphean task. “it’s a pirate show” bad. “it’s functionally a prequel to treasure island but also it’s not at all” bad again, and also confusing. “it’s about pirates trying to destroy western civilization” mostly only true of the second half of the show and also doesn’t fully capture what i love about it. “it’s a pirate show about the power of stories, how civilization uses shame to keep people in line and turns them into monsters, and the power of queer rage. it’s got some of the best acting, writing, everything of any show i’ve ever seen.” the most accurate, but way too long and makes me sound pretentious and insane. send help i just want to talk about my favorite show.

I will say, it's really funny how much got glossed over at the end of season two of Black Sails. Like, I 100% know what they were going for, and it was probably the right choice to not bog us all down with details after such intense moments, but I will never not find it funny how it's never discussed that Vane and Flint have to share a ship for weeks, or that the Walrus somehow was damaged to the point of no longer being seaworthy at the bay where the gold was. Idk, I just find it really amusing.

Again, I know that it was the right choice for pacing and ending a season on an interesting note, but there's so much room for weird and interesting stuff to have happened over that time... I'd LOVE to know what happened, yk? (Though I suppose for people who read fanfic, that's what fanfic's for. Filling in the gaps left by canon.)

Honestly, that episode and the next one, which I just finished, might be in my top two episodes of TV ever. God, what masterpieces. The ending of season two is INCREDIBLE. I can't even think well enough yet to put my thoughts into words.

Episode 17 of Black Sails (S2,E9) is so fucking insane, I'm losing my mind. (major spoilers ahead!!)

Ashe fucked over Flint and betrayed Thomas, Miranda, and Flint, Miranda's dead, Flint's in jail and set to be hanged, but fucking VANE of all people is going to get him out???????? Presumably so he has leverage over him, but STILL. Oh and the fact that Vane attacked and killed over half of the Walrus crew and Flint doesn't know. And Silver tried to save the whole crew even though he usually only ever does shit for himself. But it kinda backfired bc they're gonna need to get out of there in a hurry, and if the forestay's not repaired, they're in for an... interesting sail back to Nassau. (aka, one that's not likely to get them back there) And when they get there and they find out that Eleanor's been captured and sold off for pardons by Hornigold and Dusfrene of all people. AND Anne and Jack are sailing for the Urca gold... (Which Silver is gonna have to answer for when Flint inevitably finds out...)

This is the most clusterfuck of all clusterfucks and it's KILLING ME. (in a good way, I swear.)
