[COSTUME] The cheers and chatter of the party is in the air, though there's always going to be some interesting occurrences. And this time, it's coming closer to Froll then he thinks. One of a particularly strong wind.
By the time the winds calm down, a kid's hat flutters over to Froll's distance, and for a moment, it appears to be a missing costume's piece. The hat itself seems to be a red beret with a white flower pin. At first, it seems that the beret seems to be the unfortunate result of the wind, but then the sudden running breaks that silence.
"Don't run, hat!" a kid's voice sings in the air. Approaching comes a strawberry blonde-haired girl with a costume that resembles the legend of the forest siblings. She gets closer and she sees her hat, but she stops and slowly looks up to meet eyes with Froll.
...She stares at him for a moment, not knowing what to do.
"Not so fast, Rose!" a familiar voice calls out in the distance. Catching up, the person in question is Godel, who seems to be dressed up as the brother of the forest siblings.
"Oh, Doctor, how nice to see you here!" he says. He holds Rose's hand as he points to Froll. "He is a doctor for the university," he says.
Rose inches closer to Godel. "The doctor is very tall, Papa," she says. "And looks like a prune."
"Rose," he gently chides. "Not in front of the doctor."
Froll had been just wandering the grounds making sure everything was running smoothly and nothing was going awry when he heard the giggling of a child coming towards him. Followed by the sound of one of his colleges.
The hat rolled and hit against his legs pathetically as he reached down to pluck it from the ground dusting it off as he saw Arthur coming up after the small blonde child.
“It does appear you have misplaced your hat, young lady.” He said, offering the hat to her, kneeling down a little to her height.
He had been about to compliment Arthur on his well behaved child when she called him a prune. Moustache curling slightly in disdain.
Well...good thing he didn’t need to take back the compliment.
Standing tall he looked to Arthur. “Ah it seems that some manners are lacking.” He put on a stern face. “I’m sure your father will teach you well won’t you Arthur.”
He smiled a fake smile back handed compliments about to come out.
“After all such a renowned homemaker like your father should be teaching you how to be an outstanding citizen in honour of the great seven. I would hate to think your setting such a borish example for her Arthur, That would be truly disappointing.”

It’s not my fault, I’m not to blame. It is the gypsy girl, the witch who set this flame. It’s not my fault, if in God’s plan, he made the devil so much stronger than a man.

asoif/hotd tiktok is 99% the worst place on earth however I did see an alicent edit today that literally shook me to my core. it was to cellophane and it started with 'why won't you do it for me' when alicent is going he's your son viserys and then it went to when 'when all I do is for you' and it was the rape scene and her holding him up in ep 9. there is exactly one person on tiktok who understands her
i’m a big fan of ridiculous cartoon villain hotd edits trend i liked on there recently was team black to that plagues song from prince of egypt that hits the line ‘until there’s nothing left of green’ really hard those are good. need to start seeing team green edited to hellfire from hunchback me when it’s not my fault (mea culpa) if in gods plan (mea culpa) he made the devil so much stronger than a man

Let's talk about Voiceplay's cover of Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame
youtube
I know they've done snippets of the song before, but this full length masterpiece of acting and vocal parts combined NEEDS to be talked about.
(For those of you who haven't seen it, GO WATCH IT)
This song is such a good choice for Geoff and for basses in general since the role of Frollo in the Hunchback musical was written for a bass and Patrick Page does spectacularly. The role is very dark and deals with mature and intense subjects like lust and desire and the character handles it very very poorly. But that's what makes him interesting. We love to hate Frollo, and giving him a low bass vocal part is perfectly suited for a character with such a dark and twisted character.
Layne has arranged the song perfectly, allowing Geoff to have all the time he needs to portray the character's thought process. The character turns from piety to fear of the monstrous feelings growing in him and what God will do to him should he sin, and then he gets angry and turns his blame on Esmeralda, claiming that she is to blame for his sinful thoughts. Geoff portrays Frollo's descent into obsession perfectly. Eli's intense rock belt is so powerful and lends to the song's intense tone. Cesar's breathy and frantic "It's not my fault!" perfectly displays Frollo's desperation as he fights his lust and then turns any blame away from himself by saying that he could never have fought this evil off when "if in God's plan he made the Devil so much stronger than a man".
Geoff's low notes are especially good and powerful in this song (thanks to Layne as I stated in my last Voiceplay post) and his acting make this probably my favorite Voiceplays song EVER. I have always loved Hunchback's music, and seeing Voiceplay perform this song so well has only made me love it more. And while the low notes do seem to bring Frollo closer and closer to Hellfire (or the Devil), Geoff's growly high notes also bring out Frollo's determination and ravid mannerism the song and the idea of Esmeralda has brought out in him. The high notes are unexpected, but anyone who saw the video knows they are insane and crazy and beautiful and a little scary.
Thanks for listening to my rambling.

Alastor singing hellfire about aponi
Yeeeees
youtube
Alastor walked through the halls of the church he had followed the demon Aponi into.
He had only met her a few days ago and yet.... there was something about her... something intriguing.. something..... beautiful....
Alastor shook his head at the mention of the word "beautiful". He hated the new emotions he was feeling.
He was raised in a catholic household.....
He walked up to the statue of mother Mary.
"I've never had relations with anyone..... why now am I thinking if someone in this way?" Alastor asked himself as he looked at the statue before he began to sing.
Beata Maria, you know I am a righteous man Of my virtue I am justly proud
He sang as he walked closer to the statue.
Beata Maria, you know I'm so much purer than The common, vulgar, weak, licentious crowd
The look on his face of utter disgust appeared when he saw a begging old lady in the church.
Alastor walked to the fireplace, his hands behind his back with a dark smile on his face.
Then tell me, Maria, why I see her dancing there? Why her smoldering eyes still scorch my soul?
He sang as the fire seemed to make Aponi's dancing figure out of fire.
I feel her, I see her The sun caught in her brunette hair Is blazing in me out of all control
As he sang, the flame got closer to him.
He backed away only to be encompassed in it, the face of the butterfly demon making itself known in such detail that Alastor didn't know if it was only fire.
Like fire Hellfire This fire in my skin
He sang as he backed away from the flame.
This burning desire Is turning me to sin
He was never one to worry about sinning. He was in hell after all....
But he had never experienced a feeling like this....
It's not my fault (mea culpa) I'm not to blame (mea culpa) It is the sinner girl the witch who sent this flame (mea maxima culpa)
He sang, attempting to make excuses for his emotions, only for his own shadows to sing back to him... to criticize him in some way.
It's not my fault (mea culpa) If in God's plan (mea culpa) He made the Devil so much stronger than a man (mea maxima culpa)
As alastor belted the note He realized that this has to be Aponi's fault somehow.... she was manipulating him somehow... someway.....
Protect me, Maria Don't let this siren cast her spell Don't let her fire sear my flesh and bone
He sang, pleading to the Mofher Mary to help him in his woes.
Yes... it had to be the butterfly demon's fault.... she worked for Valentino.. she was using he ready to get under Alastor's skin....
Destroy Aponi Wings! And let her taste the fires of hell Or else let her be mine and mine alone
He belted.
He was taught that there should only be one woman... and that woman would be Aponi..... he was smitten... and he wanted to know how to stop her evilness....
Hellfire Darkfire Now darling, it's your turn Choose me or your pyre Be mine or you will burn
He sang as the flames in the church engulfed him again in warmth, the figure of Aponi making itself known again only to be snuffed out by alastor wringing his hands around the fire.
God have mercy on her God have mercy on me
Alastor sang in a hushed tone.
He was confused.....
But she will be mine Or she will burn
As he belted out the last note, the fire of the church practically exploded, leaving alastor's figure the only thing not on fire.
"I'll destroy her.... I'll get inside her head.... and she'll be mine," Alastor muttered.

I think it's funny that a disney movie almost two decades ago gave a way more nuanced depiction of Christianity/Catholicism than Netflixvania did.
I suppose you mean The Hunchback of Notre Dame?
I know, low hanging fruit, but the bishop and every church-related antagonist fucking wish they had an ounce of Frollo's charisma
youtube
yeah yeah "your work makes Him puke", NFCV still hasn't delivered a banger like "It's not my fault if in God's plan He made the Devil so much stronger than a man"
Frollo is 100% a vicious bastard whose first action in the movie was to kill a woman and nearly drown her baby, but he was granted the decency of being fleshed out enough to feel real in his evil. Also, the Bishop was set to be his counterpart, his conscience (yes I know that in the book they were the same character), to show that Church not Bad, religion could be used for evil but it could also help man.
THOND 🤝 Berserk: being the deeper and much more enjoyable NFCV ever since the later '90s.

“Hellfire” from The Hunchback of Notre-Dame gives me Elder Maxson x Sole Survivor vibes- hear me out, lyrics such as
“ you know I am a righteous man, of my virtue I am justly proud” (here would be him explaining how much of a dick he is)
“Tell me, Maria, why I see her dancing there. Why her smouldering eyes still scorch my soul?” (Here would be after the brotherhood first arrive in their big ole airship and meeting the Sole Survivor for the first time. Maxson can’t understand these feelings he has, perhaps he is kept awake for the first night, maybe concerned he’s coming down with an illness but in actual fact he has the big ole feelings)
“This burning desire, is turning me to sin.” (Self explanatory, he realises his big ole feelings)
“It’s not my fault, if in god’s plan- he made the devil so much stronger than a man.” (Perhaps Blind Betrayal? I can liken this to a BoS Sole Survivor begging him to not order them to destroy Paladin Danse, Maxson standing his ground in his beliefs but quietly regretting the pain he’s causing. I can see this carrying on if the Sole Survivor passes the Charisma check to save Danse’s life- with Maxson purposely treating Danse as if he’s dead on the Sole Survivors return to the airship. I’m running with the idea that Maxson has not revealed his feelings, but they instead just influence his favouritism of Sole Survivor in giving them Danse’s position and things. He’s an angry tired 20 y/old I doubt he has much indication for romance beyond abusing his position. I’ve also taken liberties in suggesting that Sole Survivor is running double agency for the Rail Road, just to make things interesting)
“Destroy Esmeralda, And let her taste the fires of hell. Or else let her be mine and mine alone.” ( Maxson getting more aggressive in trying to sort out his feelings, perhaps reflection on Maxson threatening Danse that if he was ever seen by the Brotherhood again, he would be considered ‘shoot to kill’ )
“Minister Frollo, the gypsy has escaped.”
(What?) She's nowhere in the cathedral. She's gone.
But how, and—? Never mind. Get out, you idiot. I’ll find her. I'll find her if I have to burn down all of Paris!” (Okay this makes me WEAK to consider- but let me rewrite it for you guys to think about. The context would be on Maxson finding out about the Sole Survivor’s betrayal in favour of the railroad, and Sole Survivor abandoning their post completely, their quarters on the Prydwen empty.)
{{Lancer-Captain Kells: Elder Maxson, the Paladin has escaped. (What?!) They’re nowhere on the Prydwen. They’re… gone.
Elder Maxson: But how?! Never mind. Get out you idiot! I’ll find them. I’ll find them even if I have to burn down all of Boston! }}
——————————————-
GOOOOD the concept makes me weak!!!! So many emotions, so much spice!!! aAAAAAA thankyou for coming to my ted talk about my feelings; I’m feeling some sort of way about elder Maxson recently so I might just post fanfic for the dumb boi.

An open chair
Open thread for anyone to join An office can tell you a lot about the owner. Froll's office was no exception. The amount of organisation and control in its presentation should be an indicator to all who enter how he was. A coffee and tea station on the side wall where the teas were neatly organised by brands and flavours meticulously displayed. A door that leads to file cabinets locked neatly away from prying eyes. Books displayed on a shelf organised alphabetically and numerically.
Even his personal touches to the office were perfectly aligned on the wall. Photos of his days as a student, diplomas, his horses and winning rosettes sat in straight lines on the wall. It was a little obsessively in order.
As for the man himself he sat at his desk currently writing away disciplinary letters to send out to parents of those who had a few to many write ups or concerns. Beside his work load sat a tea cup. Steaming into the air leaving a slightly floral scent in its wake. As Daniel Froll wrote more letters his door remained open for any student to drop in either to report suspicions or to air some woes.
