alfea labels officially started accepting trainees a year after they were established. the company were to debut a group called storytime but they disbanded before they had the chance. some idols who were in storytime stayed in the music industry after their contracts expired, either as producers or soloists.

being created in 2018, specifically for their girl band sweet tooth, gladiolus records is the subsidiary of alfea labels and it currently has four groups under their name. although alfea is mostly a k-pop company, gladiolus on the other hand is a company that possesses idols from different countries in asia, like their vietnamese idol, daihwa.

orion entertainment was a fairly new company established in 2017, at first the ceo wanted to debut a group but didn’t have enough funds to go through with it. after alfea labels bought orion entertainment, alfea canceled the groups debut and instead debuted a soloist with the stage name, atlas. after they acquired enough funds, orion started the project group once again.

Musa’s Discography Pt. 1

Yes, I spend way too long thinking about stuff like this about my characters leave me alone ajajajjaaa

But srly like 2 people have asked me about this and I’ve spent way too long thinking about what Musa discography would actually be like so… here is her discography with a way too detailed description of why I chose each of the songs, I had way too much fun with this.

First EP. Written in the later half of s2 and before s3 published in the summer between s2 and s3

I had no specific ‘theme’ for this one, just songs I felt fit Musa’s mentality and would be cool for her first project

The Beginning by Madison Beer.

I just really love this intro it’s a gorgeous showcase of vocals and it’s beautiful and perfect.

I Hate the Way by Sofia Carson.

I love this song. Musa would base if mostly off of Riven’s epic screw up in s2 ch27. Also the guitar solo part feels perfect for her.

Whispers by Halsey.

I can’t quite explain why but this song is so Musa-coded to me. At least my version of her. She builds walls up and tries to not care and fails miserably every time. Also touches slightly on the depression that she def never adressed before going to Alfea and meeting the girls

Run and Hide by Sabrina Carpenter.

I feel like this song fits Musa’s mentality in s1 and part of s2 perfectly especially when it comes to romantic love. ‘Started thinking love’s a loaded gun, nobody wants to fight’ ‘If you can’t hide run, if you can’t run hide’ ‘I don’t wanna run I don’t wanna hide’ it’s just perfect for how she used to think and I really love the idea of her writing this precisely as she starts to let go of that mentality

favorite crime by Olivia Rodrigo.

This would be a more story-telling type song written with Helia cause I feel like putting those two together they would absolutely go full story tellers and poem-like lyrics and this feels like smth they would absolutely write one night they couldn’t sleep cause they love a good sob love story

Written about the Winx and the Specialists with a sprinkle of dreading growing up

Second EP. Written during the first half of s3, published right before Winter Break

This one did have a slight ‘theme’ to it since it was mostly written while she was fighting with Riven over secrets on both sides and she was very frustrated with herself and projecting a bit on him.

Hard to Love by Rose.

This feels very Musa-coded to me. She has that instinct of ‘oh shoot I’m loved? Fucking run for the hills!’ But more like… again, she builds walls. So I can see her writing this one night very frustrated with herself like, why am I like this?

Rock Bottom by Hailee Steinfeld.

I love this song and I feel like it suits Rivusa so perfectly in the first half of s3 ‘We’re on the right side of rock bottom and I hope that we keep falling. We’re on the good side of bad karma, cause we keep on coming back for more. We’re on the right side of rock bottom, and to you I just keep crawling. You’re the best kind of bad smth, cause we keep on coming back for more.’ Literally them at this point before they learn to properly communicate. Also ‘what are we fighting for? Seems like we do it just for fun.’ Love this song

Monster in Me by Little Mix.

Another song that suits them when they’re at rock bottom. ‘Touch me, why don’t we kill each other slowly?’ ‘The monster in me loves the monster in you’. Def can see Musa writing this when she’s frustrated with herself and Riv cause she knows why they’re both screwed up but can’t quite figure out how to get past it

when the party’s over by Billie Eilish.

This was when, for a moment Musa considered just calling it quits cause she wonders if maybe they’re both too fucked up to make it work and she wrote this whilst in depression. She also realized that she was hurting him by picking fights and not being honest and wrote this in response to that realization

Midnight Rain by Taylor Swift.

This one was also co-written by Helia, they went for another story-telling not-to-be love story.

Another song that feels oh so Rivusa-coded to me. Like, cmon this is one of those songs that played in the back of my head every single time I had them argue in s3 and feels like the perfect song to end an album all about fighting the one you love

this isnt a 1:1 retelling for both medias, i mostly retell the duel monsters story but set in the magical universe, with plot and worldbuilding elements of both. there are 8 "seasons" and one "movie".

both og and 4kids versions of both medias will be taken into consideration for ideas and such

the worldbuilding is also not a 1:1 of winx but an expanded version of it, with both changes and additions. basically whatever the winx fandom has been doing for the past three years. theres going to be another post for worldbuilding that im eventually going to link in a masterpost

there are some ocs but they have minimal roles or are inspired by a version of the character (like s0 yami)

took some liberty with ages and family relations for storytelling reasons (atem and yuugi are brothers as theyre basically daphne and bloom, so are ryou and yamiba, mokuba and seto are older than the gang BUT STILL BIG BRO AND LITTLE BRO)

basics

yuugi is basically the bloom of the au: has lived with his (unknowingly to him not biological) grandfather since he can remember, helped him manage his game shop in the city of gardenia. he's actually the lost prince of the kingdom of domino (shocker!) and a fairy. theres this weird spirit clad in gold with a mask and spiky hair begging him to help him remember who he is and which speaks to him in his dreams. no hes not going to unpack that yet

jonouchi (who is on the run and using the name joey) is saved by yuugi awakening his powers during a fight exactly like stella is saved by bloom. jou is also a fairy of the sun and moon. said fight is against rishid, who was supposed to get the "ring of solaria" from jou, who then refused, so he had to resort to drastic measures (*malik voice* "get his ass")

yuugi goes to alfea with jou!! boy has two invites which he stole for himself (and shizuka in case she ever found out she was a fairy jic), and so yuugi can get in. for some reason all the professors look at him weird (save him). also everyone keeps talking about the anniversary of this "fall of domino" which happened 16 years ago and he doesnt know why he gets shivers everytime he thinks abt it

there he meets his and jou's roommates for the rest of the year!! anzu (princess of lynphea and fairy of nature), honda (ex-specialist who just awakened his fairy form and transfered from red fountain, fairy of metals from zenith) and ryou (fairy of sounds from melody). they all get along immediately although with some awkwardness. with this, the plot starts setting into motion, and its a mix of winx s1 and duelist kingdom

alfea is run by pegasus, who was the vice-headmaster before his wife cynthia, former headmaster, died in the fall of domino while trying to help civilians. he's as spoiled and weird as in canon and as obsessed with his goal to bring her back. he's a fairy of imagination

the rest of the faculty isnt really fond of him tbh. especially newly appointed technomagic and draconology professor seto kaiba, who is also the crown prince of the planet of zenith and fairy of dragons. many thought he wasnt ready to take a seat in the faculty as he isnt a guardian fairy or even earned the charmix power up, but he's one of the smartest and best students they've ever had, so *of course* he managed to get it. being filthy rich also helped.

(kaibacorp is still a thing here, and seto is still ceo. however here gozaburo is alive and king of zenith, and thus he still watches over seto like an hawk. he will die eventually ofc but i wanted to explore how seto would be like in adulthood if gozaburo was still around, although a distant threat. dw, the "losing is death" thing still gets drilled into seto's head)

rule of thumb for every student and teacher is: do not ask professor kaiba about his time at alfea, he really doesnt want to think about it. others will tell you he was close friends with current queen of andros ishizu ishtar (fairy of waves and nymph of andros) and deceased crown prince of domino atem, former fairy and nymph of the dragon flame.

mokuba is a specialist. he has graduated and completed his knighthood training at redfountain for a while, and is now an assistant to both his brother and the redfountain headmaster for all magic-school related bs. he may be older than in canon but hes still baby And a little shit. and! he and seto are still two peas in a pod <3

other than alfea and redfountain, of course there is the school for witches: cloudtower. the headmaster is tkb, here named yuzuru (fake name!!!), an extremely powerful dark witch of sands, nobody knows his true age. one of their best students is mai valentine, a witch of storms from callisto who is finishing up her last year and thinks the concept of covens is lame and overrated

"yeah but whos the trix" well i mean three people who are/have been antagonists and would have beef with the protagonists for personal reasons but also would work really well with each other as characters and have a fun and even slightly dramatic synergy bc of the fuckery between them all. tl;dr:

Who's your favorite character you’ve written? Hmmmm…. I'm having a hard time choosing a single favorite - but I will choose the most fun. Cal Lightman from 'Lie to Me' was the absolute most assholic, entertaining and emotionally unstable character to write. And THAT was fun. 

How conscious are you about including symbolism or foreshadowing in your fics? Ah, it depends on the mood or theme of the fic. Sometimes I'm really aware of it and purposeful. Sometimes I'm distracted by squirrels. Or kittens.

It really is a shame Winx did so little with Bloom's artistic side, because how that aspect of her character is introduced is so well done

The way that very first shot of Gardenia turns into a shot of Bloom's sketch of it. The way the audience gets to see her drawings before getting a look at Bloom herself, so that this hobby is literally the first thing you learn about her. The way her drawings feature fairies and castles, showing her love of magic even before Vanessa brings it up

It's just a really clever way to give an idea of the protagonist's personality under a minute into the show, and I wish they had continued to keep that trait more present, especially after s1

#s1 did a bit more with it by having stella complimenting it be a bonding moment and making bloom design the club logo #and i really love the scene after she leaves alfea and she keeps drawing it and making herself sad like thats the stuff i wanted more of #i get that they couldnt have subplots with it bc she already had so much stuff going on but a few more subtle nods would have been nice #winx club #it goes without saying that this is rai specific bc 4kids cut this intro out which is a c r i m e

Ok iniziamo, preparo l’alcol 

L’episodio inizia con un signore che continua a ripetere “Stupide Pecore” (praticamente il tipo è un mix tra Sgarbi e Giustino di Leone il cane fifone), ma lui è solo la vittima sacrificale, quello che verrà mangiato dal demogorgone, e vbb, ripperoni comparsa n.1.

Poi parte questa intro qua, ci si sono impegnati con after effects.

Zoom su Bloom che entra nella versione poraccia di Oguorz, poi carrellata su tutte le Winx. Stella fa finta di essere minorenne e si fa dei selfie con quelle del primo anno, Netflix ti sei accorto dell’enorme gap d’età tra le Winx e le comparse 15enni? 

Sky il belloccio squadra Bloom da lontano e un secondo dopo si avvicina a parlarle per rompere il ghiaccio e parte con una supercazzola che ????, perché Netflix ti deve subito buttare in faccia la coppia, così, de botto.

Stella giudica da lontano Bloom e Sky che fanno i vomitevoli come sempre, e poi percula Bloom per essere americana. Dite quel che vi pare ma Stella ha ragione e ha tutto il mio appoggio.

“Faragonda” (?) spiega che non ci sono abbastanza soldi per il CGI, quindi le fate si sono evolute e niente più ali. Bloom parte col piantino “sono una ragazza qualunque, voglio solo imparare a controllare i miei poteri, non cerco gloria blablabla”, ‘nzomma Bloom che fa Bloom.

Aisha cita Harry Potter, ma vai tranq Aisha che avevamo già intuito che Alfea non è altro che la versione sfigata Oguorz. Bloom dice di essere una serpeverde, SI CERTO, MA SE SEI PIù RACCOMANDATA DI HARRY POTTER IN PERSONA? TU IL GRIFONDORO CE L’HAI NEL SANGUE BELLA MIA. 

Bloom prende in giro Stella che vuole cambiare outfit, Stella la guarda male e ancora una volta mi chiedo: è davvero Stella la cattiva? Cioè, una tizia random entra in camera tua, ti sfotte, e tu non devi reagire male? Praticamente Bloom è questo meme:

Terra ha trasformato la stanza comune in una serra, e Stella se ne lamenta. 

In sostanza Stella ha sempre ragione, anche se cercano di fartela stare antipatica.

Terra esordisce con “ho una cugina di nome Flora”, bel tentativo Netflix, lol.

Musa tratta male la cugina di Flora, a quanto pare tutte hanno bevuto le pillole della stronzaggine e se la prendono con la linea comica del gruppo. Un po’ come succedeva nel cartone, ma la linea comica lì era Stella. 

Passiamo alla scuola delle tartarughe ninja, Riven percula Sky per essersi già innamorato di Bloom, e scusate ma Riven ha ragione. No ok rettifico, Riven ha avuto ragione fino a quando non ha aggiunto che le rosse sono pazze e scopabili. Sky ha risposto “parli per esperienza, quindi la tua mano è una rossa”, e dopo questa butto giù un po’ di alcol. Riven fa sapere a Sky che si è drogato quest’estate, perché è quello che fanno i cattivi ragazzi no? “Ragazzi non drogatevi, sono stato preso per la parte di Riven per colpa di quella robaccia”.

Sky è ovviamente anche la migliore tartaruga ninja della scuola, quindi lui è il quarterback figo che si metterà con la protagonista, un classico.

“Personaggio secondario poc” accenna ai bruciati, ovvero i demogorgoni della serie.

Riven va ad infrattarsi per fumare una canna, e trova un cadavere, suppongo sia l’anziano che odiava le pecore di prima. 

Aisha s’ingozza di cibo e afferma “non ho freni con il cibo, se non nuotassi sarei enorme”, Musa ridacchia, tutto questo davanti a Terra che si sente particolarmente a disagio. Aisha e Musa condividono un neurone in 2. 

Una tizia che dovrebbe essere una Trix bussa alla porta della direttrice e dice “forse le sembrerò una rompipalle adesso, oh no non avrei dovuto dire rompipalle, merda, cazzo”. Ma chi li ha scritti ‘sti dialoghi? Massimo Boldi?

Flashback di Bloom che non vuole uscire di casa e dice “devo essere una stronzetta che esce sempre?” e la madre “sempre meglio di essere una stramba asociale”. Perché Bloom è la ragazza diversa™, e avere una vita sociale significa essere stronze superficiali, e allo stesso tempo la madre definisce strambe le persone che non escono tutti i giorni. È tutto così fondamentalmente sbagliato, wow. 

Bloom va ad una festa, incontra Sky e dice “c’è un posto dove possa andare che sia l’opposto di questo?”, sì, c’è Bloom: potevi startene in camera invece di fare costantemente la parte della ragazza diversa™ che non è interessata alle feste. Sky dice che oltre la barriera non ci sono persone ma tanti mostri, e Bloom risponde con “perfetto”, ma ti mangiasse un lupo mannaro Bloom.

MA OK, SKY CONTINUA CON “a rischio di sembrare mansplaining, è davvero pericoloso là fuori, meglio non andarci da sola”, e Bloom “ma che ce stai a provà?” MAMMA MIA OGNI SINGOLA PAROLA DETTA DA ‘STI DUE è IMBARAZZANTE, BASTA, BASTAAA.

Arriva Stella che li interrompe, penso abbia sentito la mia richiesta, grazie mia eroina, sei la numero uno anche se vogliono farti passare come la villain di turno. 

Stella fa notare a Sky che fa un po’ schifo a provarci proprio con la sua compagna di stanza, Sky alza la voce e li guardano tutti. Stella ti prego usa l’anello di Solaria e scappa via da ‘sta ciabatta di uomo. 

Bloom ci fa sapere che ha avuto una brutta adolescenza e che ha dato fuoco alle cose. Mi spiace Bloom, ancora non empatizzo con te. Ricordando i suoi traumi riesce ad evocare il fuoco, senza offesa ma lo faceva meglio Johnny Storm. 

Però Bloom perde il controllo e rischia di causare l’incendio, perciò interviene Aisha che probabilmente avrà il ruolo di pompiere per tutta la durata serie. 

Bloom invece di ringraziare Aisha le dice “io non sono come tutte voi blablabla”, MA GUARDA UN PO’, L’ABBIAMO CAPITO CHE SEI SPECIALE, MA ANCHE BASTA. Successivamente Aisha mi fa capire che il suo ruolo oltre che pompiere è anche quello di psicologa personale di Bloom, forse è andata peggio a lei che a Stella.

 Aisha parla di cacca. VIVA LA MERDA -cit

Altri flashback cringe con Bloom che spiega di non essere una cheerleader come voleva sua madre, poi la madre di Bloom che toglie la porta della camera di Bloom /cosa???/, “non fare la femminista con me”, la casa prende fuoco, i genitori non muoiono per miracolo, così ogni notte ha iniziato a dormire in un magazzino fino a quando “Faragonda” non l’ha trovata, oddio ragazzi ho bisogno di drogarmi insieme a Riven.

Aisha aggiunge “la storia del fuoco batte quella della cacca” ed è subito NATALE AD ALFEA

Aisha dice a Bloom che lei è un “changeling”, ovvero una bambina fata scambiata alla nascita con una umana, complimenti per il tatto Aisha.

Scambio imbarazzante tra Terra e Riven (che voleva far ubriacare la comparsa poc di prima), “sotto sotto era un povero nerd”, “tu sotto sotto sei 3 persone” ‘STI DIALOGHI SONO DA DENUNCIA. Poi Terra usa i suoi poteri per strozzare Riven con delle liane. Uhm.

Scena successiva con Stella (che si comporta come una Diaspro qualunque) che dice a Bloom che se sente nostalgia di casa può andare via, poi in seguito arrivano le altre Winx (tra cui una Musa che legge nella mente della gente come se fosse una cosa OK, ma va bene) ad attaccarla. 

Terra mi fa capire che StellaDiaspro ha fatto qualcosa di brutto all’ultima persona che ha parlato con Sky (dai, cosa, per dinci, LA MIA STELLA NON LO FAREBBE MAI), poi StellaDiaspro spiega che ha prestato il suo anello a Bloom per farla tornare nel mondo umano visto che sentiva nostalgia di casa, dovrà andare nella foresta, attraversare un portale ecc ecc, ma nella foresta ci sono i mostri ohnnnooo. 

Praticamente StellaDiaspro ha spedito Bloom a morire, che è assolutamente sbagliato, ma COMPRENDO la voglia di vedere morta Bloom, perciò non riesco a condannare del tutto le azioni di StellaDiaspro.

Bloom va nel mondo umano, telefona ai genitori mentre li spia dalla finestra, piange, “ma io vvb” ecc ecc. Poi vede un demogorgone, si nasconde, ma ops l’anello di Stella le cade nella grata OH NO, CHE SFORTUNA, MA CHI SE LO ASPETTAVA. Bloom sta per essere attaccata, ma si butta nella grata per recuperare l’anello di Stella, poi arriva Faragonda che le salva il culo. Le altre Winx tranne Stella la stanno aspettando nella foresta, e le spiegano che quello che ha visto è un demogorgone, e che esiste un sottosopra. Poi Bloom dice che il demogorgone ha preso l’anello di Stella, oh, uhm, non è un buon segno. 

StellaDiaspro cerca di sedurre Sky, e Sky dice che è stata lei a lasciarlo, e Diaspro continua spiegando che si è ingelosita e che ha fatto una cosa molto stupida blablabla, tutte la odiano blablabla, e rimane a dormire con Sky

Cambio di scena con Riven che si droga e rimorchia la Trix, come nel canon. 

Ancora cambio di scena con Terra e Musa che fanno amicizia, Musa spiega il suo potere, sente i sentimenti della gggente, e che usa le cuffie perché ad una certa non ce la fa più a sentire gli altri e ok, va bene, MA NON È MUSA QUESTA.

Ulteriore cambio di scena con “Farah” che conferma che Bloom è un changeling e vbb

Ah Terra ha una crush per la comparsa poc, ma la comparsa poc lascia like alle foto sul profilo insta di Riven, e F per Terra. 

La Trix va a parlare con il demogorgone, quindi è malvagia uuuh chi se lo sarebbe mai aspettato. 

In sostanza il personaggio migliore al momento è il demogorgone che ha quasi ucciso Bloom, e non so se le reggo altre 5 puntate di ‘sta roba.

I’m about 30 minutes in.

Terra is cute but no replacement for Flora

I apricated Grimes’ We Apricate Power being in the soundtrack; it’s on of my favorite Grimes songs

 The aesthetics are nice

Alfea & Red Fountain are one school; 0/10 there

Bloom is actually more likeable so far; I don’t hate her yet like I did in the original

Why is Stella such an unlikable bitch in this???? Like she was snobby (and I didn’t care for her) in the original but she’s unbearable in this remake

I like the aesthetics of the school and the opening scene

 Was intrigued by the darker themes in the intro

Literally showed a bloody body; i knew they were going for more maturity but I didn’t expect a bloody body 

Still bitter about Flora -2/10 for no Flora

Musa isn’t Asian :v 0/10

Worst parts: No Flora, Beatrix instead of Icy, & ‘mansplaining’

Overall opinion: I have never felt so conflicted about a remake. So far I feel like this would be really good if it wasn’t Winx. Like if this was it’s own show, I’d probably like it. But  since I know it’s supposed to be Winx and that Icy is not included I am bitter. Like Icy deserves to be in the more mature Winx. :v

Basically yeah; I think I’d like this but only if I pretend like it’s not Winx and it’s its own stand alone show.

Notes from the Fate book preview

I thought that I would point out some bits of trivia from the new Fate book preview for people who don’t want to/don’t have time to read the whole thing.

World Building Notes

In this version, Bloom gets mad at her parents one day and burns down their house and gives her parents third degree burns.

In this version it seems that the fairies and the specialists study at the same school.

Alfea is now located on Solaria.

“Farah Dowling” is the headmistress of Alfea and she comes to takes Bloom to Alfea through a magic portal.

Bloom tells her parents that she is in a boarding school in Switzerland as a cover. For some reason...

Alfea is still protected by a magical barrier, but this time it’s for protection from the “burned ones.” Most people at the school don’t even seem to believe that the “burned ones” are real though, so it kind of makes you wonder why they even have a barrier in the first place.

Magic is controlled with/by your emotions.

None of them are mentioned to be royalty. Not even Stella.

Stella

In the book, she is described as “A stunning blonde girl with porcelain skin”

She is a second year, aka a year older than the other girls just like the main series.

Her personality feels very much like a mean girl type.

After watching Stella take selfies, Bloom thinks: “Seemingly, fairies could create their own beauty lighting.” So using magic to create beauty filters is cannon.

Stella’s ring of Solora is back! I didn’t see that coming especially since it hasn’t been mentioned in like 5 seasons at this point. In this version, it can transport you to anywhere you want as long as you’re outside of Alfea’s magical barrier.

Stella gets her own dorm room, just like the main series.

It looks like Stella and Sky are in some kind of relationship? From the book: “Sky didn’t know how to ask someone out on a date. He’d been with Stella forever. She clung to him, because of her mom. She clung to him so tightly, it seemed like they must fit together. But then there had been the whole mess last year, and Stella had dumped him, and hadn’t spoken to him all summer. They were done, Sky told himself firmly.”

“Terra”

In the book, she is described as: “pale with a cloud of brown hair”

Terra and Musa room together in this version instead of Flora and Bloom.

As some have already pointed out, she mentions that she has a cousin named Flora.

Also on the topic of family, she mentions this at one point: “She wasn’t going to hunt for her annoying brother.” So I’m assuming that has a brother that is a specialist or goes to the school.

She mentions that her mom is named “Rose” and her dad is “Professor Harvey”, which makes Terra’s last name Harvey. Her dad works in Alfea’s greenhouse and she was raised around Alfea and its greenhouse as a result. From the book: “After years of being the professor’s kid daughter who hung around the greenhouse too much, she was finally a full-fledged student.”

Helia who? In this version Flora Terra seems to be into a new guy named “Dane,” he is described as: “He had lovely forest-deep black curls, close cropped with shaved sides. His eyes were deep chocolate brown, like rich, new-turned earth, and he had great arms and great everything, muscles rippling beneath his smooth dark brown skin.”

Musa

In the book, she is described as: “vaguely punk rock and olive-skinned and wearing enormous headphones that buzzed faintly on her ears” I don’t know what happened to that “olive-skin” though...

As others have already noted Musa is now a “mind fairy.” The book doesn’t do too much to clear up exactly what that means.

Terra and Musa room together in this version instead of Musa and Tecna.

Tecna

This line is in the book: “A fairy who seemed mostly interested in her phone directed me to the headmistress’s office.” The book never went out of its way it mention any other minor characters that were not directly connected to our main characters, so I’m interrupting this as a cameo from best girl.

Aisha/Bloom

Bloom’s full name is Bloom Peters.

In the book, we get this gem of an intro for Aisha: “One long-legged, capable-looking African American chick strode by, wearing a denim jacket and carrying a bag full of athletic gear. Wait, she wasn’t African American. Fairies didn’t have Africa or America. I didn’t know the name of the fairy realm I was currently in. Also, I hadn’t pictured fairies being into extreme sports.” (???)

Bloom and Aisha room together in this version.

While Aisha and bloom are talking in their room, Aisha says “Human parents, fairy daughter?” LIKE. AISHA. Most of your relatives are mermaids? I guess this could inversely mean that most of Aisha’s extended family was removed in the version.

Aisha and Bloom also talk about Hogwarts houses which is not something I expected.

Bloom admits that she usually gets Slytherin from the online quizzes.

After their talk Bloom gives us this gem of dialogue that I just had to share: “If we did all end up murdering one another, maybe I’d kill Aisha last. That still left the spot for who I’d kill first wide open.”

So this is in the book: “Sports fiend Aisha wanted to find a pool to swim in, because she had to swim twice a day every day or perish, apparently.” IDK that’s a weird thing to add IMO.

Aisha says this to Bloom after hearing the story of Bloom burning down her house: “Aisha went cold. “Oh God,” she breathed. “You’re a changeling.”   “A changeling is a fairy baby that’s switched with a human one at birth.” It could mean something and be true or not and nothing at all.

Specialists

Their are three specialists mentioned by name in the book, Sky, Riven and Dane.

Bloom refers to Sky as “cute boy” before she learns his name and Sky is also hinted at having feelings for her.

There is no mention of Musa and Riven being together or even knowing that the other person exists however.

Sky’s dad is described as “Sky’s dad was Andreas of Eraklyon, the dead legendary hero, slayer of the Burned Ones.” It is unclear if he is still a king and Sky a prince. This would’ve been a good time to mention that so I’m assuming that they’re not royal.

Riven likes to get high. He mentions getting high over the summer and goes out into the woods to get high at one point.

So I watched the first Nick special

Terrible idea, I know but I was really curious about just how they went about it. I did keep a liveblog on my phone while watching, but since I went into this special more with the intent of picking it apart and comparing it to the Dutch version of it(as I switched between the two for every scene) it didn't really end up working as a liveblog post

BUT because I do like word vomiting my thoughts on this cartoon here I ended up kinda reworking it into like a review/liveblog/dubbing analysis hybrid that I'll put under the cut here

Before I get into the special itself I wanna start with being positive about the music. I genuinly love it despite my heavy nostalgic bias towards the rai soundtrack. I'll even say that if I hadn't grown up with the original intro the Nick one would probably be my favorite. And I actually like it in English as well as in Dutch, tho the latter does still get extra points from me because it's Musa's VA singing it, which just makes it feel more Winx to me

I'm pleasantly surprised by how they covered the events of the pilot. Going in I expected them to pull a 4kids and cut Bloom's intro, but luckily at least this American company realised that that's important to keep actually. They even threw in an extra line about Bloom's love of fairies that I really appreciated. I'm bummed they cut Mitzi's bullying but it in the interest of time I can't really blame them. I noticed they changed Bloom wanting a scooter to her wanting a car which is funny to me, but it's something that actually makes sense for a localization. I did get a kick out of the Dutch dub switching it right back to scooter tho

I'm not fond of most of the dialogue changes in general but they're not horrible. The only thing that really annoyed me is them cutting Bloom's stutter from "did I just do that" and just having her seem less freaked out in general. I had the same problem with 4kids now that I think about it. Is there some ban on protagonists freaking out in U.S television I don't know about?

In terms of voice acting for this part I'm not loving it, but it's also not as bad as I was expecting. Mike, Vanessa and Knut all sound fine. I knew going in from having seen a good chunk of the Nick dub of s3 that this was my least favorite Bloom, and that's still the case. Not a bad VA by any means but the voice does not match the character. I have mixed feelings about Stella since I really do like the voice, but it still doesn't really fit Stella's personality to me

And of course the voice acting was something I was incredibly curious about in the Dutch dub. Unlike the Nick version they didn't use the specials to bring in a new cast, so all these characters have the same VA as they did originally. But the thing about this dub is you can tell the VA's take cues from the English version, even if they were far more expressive than the English rai, so it's fun to see how their delivery changes when basing their performance on the Nick voices instead

The difference is very noticable, and is actually making me appreciate the English rai version more for providing a better source if nothing else. Bloom and Stella still sound very much like themselves, but like toned down versions. I did find that most of the scenes worked better for me after watching it in Dutch. Nostalgia goggles at work of course, but Bloom's Baby Voice and Stella's sarcasm can make any scene feel more in character. Plus Bloom's VA brought back some of that nervousness that was missing in English, Stella's VA didn't even try to do the valley girl thing, and both of them had some slightly altered lines that fit much better imo

The special def starts to suffer as soon as the girls get to Alfea. It just feels like they wanted to get as much info out of the way asap, and the characters really suffer for it. Especially the bond between the Winx. For as well as they still managed to set up Bloom and Stella, without the mini plot about Bloom's fake identity, a scene of them hanging out in Magix, and the girls listening to Bloom's pleas to Faragonda it just feels incomplete. I almost wish they would have just cut that first outing alltogether and jumped straight to that swamp assignment to get early bonding there instead. I at least think they should have held off on them naming the club. I'll defend it happening that early in the OG for various reasons, but they should have left that for the end of the special here

I don't care for these versions of the Trix, both in how their dialogue is written and acted, even the Dutch versions who still have their iconic(and I do mean ICONIC they're so damn good) bitch voices can't save it

For the rest of the girls I'd argue that the voice acting quality in this dub is objectively the best out of all the English ones, but I can't help but feel like they all sound way too similar. I would not be able to tell who was talking if I wasn't watching the screen. In Dutch there's the unfortunate fact that Tecna's VA changed and it really throws me off even though the new one does a good job. With Musa and Flora it's the same as Bloom and Stella, they sound like themselves just toned down

I don't agree with the decision to make the school cleaning storyline the first story. On some level I get why they did it. It's a story that heavily features the specialists who needed more of an introduction, it includes some neat hints about Bloom having the Dragon Flame, and it's just a really fun adventure in general. It's just that it doesn't work well with how little time the girls have had together. Either the swamp, or Stella being kindnapped would have been better. Ignoring that I did have a lot of fun watching it as just alternate versions of the original scenes though

Now, while shitting on Fate, I've actually argued in favor of Bloom being confirmed as the keeper of the Dragon Flame being a season 1 finale thing, so naturally I approve of it as an ending for a special. In theory. The execution was lacking to say the least and I would have preffered for them to save it for the next one just to get more time with Bloom as just Bloom. As it is it feels really rushed and Kiko's fake-out death was so much less impactful. I do like the concept of Bloom's first transformation happening in a more high pressure situation but it just ended up distracting from the point of the scene. Also how did the Trix even end up considering it was her? Pretty sure they skipped over that completely

All in all, while not nearly as bad as it could have been, the special did not manage to convey the story of ep 1-10 properly. It was to be expected since condensing a full season into a few specials is a stupid idea, so I can't get too pressed about it. I'd even say a good chunk of it was enjoyable if viewed as extra content instead of a replacement for season 1. And not to always be on 4kids' case but honestly? I liked this a lot better

Outside of that obvious issue my biggest problem with the writing itself is that it feels very American. To me a big part of what makes Winx Winx is that it isn't American, and I gotta say that besides the gross whitewashing crap, I think that attempting to appeal to American audiences is where Winx went wrong, and that shows already in this special. I can't help but wonder where the show would be now if it had remained true to it's roots, instead of trying to break into the U.S market. It was never going to be as big there as in Europe, and now it's not doing good in either area

Winx Club Season 7 Thoughts Part 1

I am kinda anxious starting this season because it is the only one I have seen nothing from. I have heard plenty about it, however, and none of it was good. Combine that with the unpleasant experience that season 6 was and I am not too thrilled but at least I will have watched everything once I have this out of the way so here I go for it.

I have to say that the intro isn’t too impressive.

7x01:

- Told you Stella has the stamina for a marathon if she has the right incentive. Why are they at Alfea again, though? And acting like they’re freshmen again? Not to mention that they have sneaked into the school more successfully when they had a lot less power.

- Jeez, I thought Griselda caught them but it was a monster... A fairy animal. K, Faragonda taking care of it was kinda cute but why don’t they know about the Nature Park? And why is Faragonda being so stern? It’s more than we have seen from her for a very mild offense (by Winx’ standards).

- Ugh, Stella with the fashion again. And why is there such a rift between her and the other girls? This is getting annoying already. Not to mention that Bloom’s voice sounds like Stella’s from the previous seasons.

- Kiko can never catch a break, huh? Especially when there are other animals/pixies/selkies/etc around.

- I thought that the barrier was only letting through those pure of heart or something like that. It probably would have been better considering that our villain will have fairy magic (I know something about this). What stops the animals from running away, though? And since when is Faragonda so into animals? She said she created the park but we have never seen her actually take care of animals or anything.

- A digmole? Wasn’t there something like that in Pokemon?

- Dammit! I was just excited to see what happens when a fairy animal attacks another fairy animal and they were like “That doesn’t happen.” Oh, I guess fairy animals are too good to have actual animal instincts or anything. I want to see a carnivore fairy animal that eats other fairy animals and I want to see how they deal with it. That is just a normal thing. And it would have been more interesting. And Roxy is acting like an animal attacking another animal is the worst thing ever. I have some bad news for you, hon.

- They really lost against a bird? And does this episode plan on introducing the villain of the season? There has been zero plot so far.

- Oh, villains! At last. I thought they were going to eat the digmole but nope. Kalshara is somehow planning on turning them into an army. Brainwashing them I guess? Brafilius is already annoying and it has been one scene. This is off to a good start.

7x02:

- The secret of the Ultimate Fairy Power is entrusted to the digmoles????? And why does she want an army of fairy animals? Could’ve picked anything but sis is just over here looking at the cute animals and going “Yep, a fearsome army that does make!” I mean, turning cute animals super evil has so much potential but I would not trust this show to even consider it, much less do it.

- Brafilius is already annoying as fuck. At least the previous villains were somewhat competent but this? He’s a clown! Kiko could beat him! What the hell were they thinking? At least Kalshara turning into the cat thing was super awesome! I really loved it.

- “It’s not like we can go back in time...” And you know they’re gonna go back in time. That sentence just screams it.

- Why would the Stone of Memories send them back in time? And why has no one tried to steal it? You could fuck so much shit up with that! Also, why did they think they could pull off time travel? Much better writers have tried and haven’t managed without creating as many paradoxes as possible. This show was a goddamn mess even before that. Besides, in season 3 there was a room in Alfea that could access any place in the past, present or future. They should have just used that but then there would have been no Butterflix transformation and shit.

- “Little time machines”? So now there are more stones? Also, they are changing the goddamn past by even being there! They are going to meet people that couldn’t have met them in the normal time line and that will change things in one way or another. This is incredible bullshit and they haven’t even stepped into the past yet.

- Great going. Just jump in the past (they don’t even know how many years back they went) without changing clothes or anything. They could give life to new words and slang before their time. Besides, Stella has her fashion thing so it would have been cool if she’d figured out what was appropriate for the time period and changed their clothes.That would have been a great usage of her fashion obsession but it never comes up when it would be actually relevant and useful.

- The crest proves that they are at Alfea? Not like, I don’t know, the entire goddamn campus? And how is walking into the main gate “not attracting attention”? This is stupid as hell.

- Why is Griselda acting like a principal even as she’s a student still?

- Oh, so now we get a change of clothes. But how will they blend in when everyone else is wearing the exact same uniform and they are just there in their specific colors? Even the clothes aren’t the ones from the uniform. And now Roxy totally looks like a Bloom clone.

- Of course, Faragonda is a major klutz just like Bloom was when she first arrived at Alfea. And, of course, Bloom can sense it’s something familiar.

- How did they get to the exhibition before Faragonda? And poor thing, she doesn’t seem to be a favorite of Headmistress Mavilla. Actually, Mavilla sounds a lot like Griselda and she seems to trust her so why didn’t she make Griselda Headmistress? Or was it not her choice?

- Of course, Roxy, the literal fairy of animals, has no idea that the animals can do all those things, much less how to make them do the things. Amazing.

- My god, Faragonda is such a dumbass! She is brave but I think she is trailing the line between brave and stupid a little bit too clumsily. How did she not die? For real? I mean, this is the thing here - in the original time line, Winx weren’t there to save her. So how did she not die during this reckless adventure she threw herself in?

- Well, at least they finally started doing something. I know they are allegedly trying to be undercover (Mavilla is shit as headmistress if she didn’t notice there were outsiders on her show in her very own fucking yard!) but they should have tried helping even sooner.

- Young Faragonda looks so much like Flora. I swear they just slapped Flora’s design on the screen, touched it up a little and thought it was good to go.

- Oh, that other fairy that just showed up is Kalshara, isn’t it?

- Why are they in the Headmistress’ office if they’re trying to stay undercover? Also, I already don’t like Mavilla. She seems like such a snob.

7x03:

- Why the hell are Winx in class? They shouldn’t be there. But, of course, we can’t have a scene without Winx in it.

- Damn, Kalshara’s metamorphoses are just on point. But her attitude is legit that of a witch and I am kinda surprised no one has caught on to that. Though, on the other hand, all of the teachers seem so hellbent on the students’ performances instead of on actually teaching them learn how to do things. Under Faragonda’s management, the school seems much more relaxed and friendly.

- Omg, Faragonda really took the book. She is such an idiot! Also, she should definitely ease it on criticizing her students after the shit she herself pulled. She legit stole the book AND miniaturized Mavilla’s fairy animals? What the hell Faragonda? Did you have any brain cells when you were young?!?!?! I can only explain this with her growing up as a witch and not realizing that what she did was not okay.

- Oh, Bloom actually figured out that Kalshara can’t be trusted 30-40 years into the past? She could have turned evil after that! She could have had a daughter that could do the same magic. This deduction does not make sense.

- Wow, they really did drop in the correct moment, right before Kalshara got her weird transformation. And Faragonda is so responsible for what is happening. Nice one!

- So Kalshara forced a metamorphosis on her brother and is now using him as her servant? I feel bad for him now. Even if he is incompetent and annoying. It is her own damn fault that she forced him to remain with her.

- Why do the digmoles look pink now? They weren’t pink before.

- Lmao, Faragonda turned Kalshara into a kitten. That was just... kinda dumb, really, but anyway.

- Love how Roxy didn’t get the Butterflix transformation even though she did all the same things that Winx did. The bullshit is real. Also, the Butterflix transformation sequence is so unnecessary. I wanted to watch all of it like I do every time it is the gaining of a new transformation but it just annoyed me too much so I skipped it.

- Wait, if she erases their memories, no one will remember that Brafilius and Kalshara escaped and someone needs to take care of them. I mean, if someone had taken care of them in the past, none of this would have been happening. Why is everyone stupid?

7x04:

- The digmoles dug up Faragonda’s office? Wow, okay. But why is she being like that with Stella? Though, I guess she wouldn’t remember her own fuck-ups if they were erased from her memory. But wait, in order for Mavilla to erase the fairy animals from their minds, she must have erased all their education at Alfea as well. What the hell? None of this makes sense.

- Yeah, no one has seen the statue before. And Faragonda could have helped them figure out what they changed by telling them what was up with the statue but nah. She doesn’t seem worried that they changed the past even if she warned them to try to avoid exactly that. This season is already exhausting as hell.

- WHAT are they wearing? Gorgeous, my ass. At least all their boyfriends are good liars.

- They aren’t even gonna elaborate the Nex and Layla thing? Like, they didn’t exactly officially get together in the end of season 6. And he is still an asshole so why is Layla even with him? He’s making digs at her friends and she isn’t even noticing?

- “This mission is for girls”? Wtf?!?!?!

- Oh, god, they really stole at least some of the fairy animal designs from Pokemon, didn’t they?

- Wait, how will they know they have found the animal with the first color when they have no idea what the first color is?

- Wait, Roxy knows that the digmole was kidnapped and instead of wanting to protect it, she’s all “it can take care of itself”? What the fuck? Also, Nex keeps being an asshole and why is Helia starting to act like him as well?

- I thought fairy animals didn’t attack each other? Why are those two fighting and mocking each other? *sigh*

- Great! So the digmole went with Roxy despite everything and she managed to get it kidnapped again as well as lose her Stone.

- Why the hell is the recap for the next episode the exact same as the one that was in the end of 7x03?

7x05:

- Roxy, it can always get worse than that. At least the others aren’t mad at her.

- Man, why is Brafilius doing more work than Kalshara when she is the more competent one? It would have been easier for her to get the job done but she is a lazy fuck and that will get her defeated in the end.

- So Roxy can’t travel without her stone and one stone can only take one person? I guess that’s why they use those chairs in the teleportation sequence. I just don’t understand why they didn’t use the link between the Stones to figure out where Brafilius is instead of needing Roxy to tell them where he’s going.

- WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY WEARING?!?!?!?! Stella, I think you have not grasped the concept of camouflage well. This thing is gonna get you killed if you need to run or do anything, really, instead of just stand around. No one loves it, Stella. No one!

- Are you kidding me? The costumes are actually working?! And I have to say that they would have had their wings pierced if they’d transformed so the costumes actually saved them. I can’t believe it. It is just too stupid but it happened.

- Why is that dinosaur acting like a dog? And why are they so relaxed about it? If the mother finds them, they may not live to see another minute if she thinks they’re a threat.

- A fun game? This is not a dog, goddammit!

- That dinosaur is literally a T-rex and they are making it act like a dog. What the actual hell? Also, wtf was that with the other animal that almost drowned them in a river of tears. Where did the writers get their inspiration for this season? Also, I kinda have a feeling that that is the animal they are looking for because, boy, does it not blend in.

- A giant spider again? We’ve already done that! In the same show! Not to mention that the giant spiders have been so overdone in media in general! But twice in the same show? Come on!

- Oh, Butterflix has special powers as well? Of course, it does.

- Oh, come on! Bloom’s hands were practically free at first and she has fire! She could have freed herself!

- Why is this animal in the colors of Layla’s outfit? And did she just bond with it? Omg, she did. Wtf? Are these animals gonna be relevant again? Oh, wait, it’s coming to the present too. Not like it will die lonely without its species. Why not tear it away from its natural habitat? Makes total sense.

- Ugh, I am gagging over Nex’s “flirting” and “romanticism”. At least Squank (is that how you write this? I honestly don’t care enough to look it up) kiss-blocked him and that was the one good thing in this episode. Why does Layla even look at him? He is so obviously a jerk!

7x06:

- Oh, Kiko AND pixies AND the fairy animals? Oh, goodie! And why tf are the Winx in class? What more is there to learn?! They can do everything, except defeat a damn spider.

- I am surprised the pixies didn’t drown. But at least everyone is being patient except Cherie. Why are Layla’s bonded creatures such crybabies?

- They are learning metamorphoses now? Really? How convenient.

- Why is everyone being an asshole to everyone? Wizgiz is terrible to everyone. He was allegedly very concerned about the fairy animals but now he is mad. Bloom is being an asshole to Locket even though it is not the pixies’ job to take care of their pets. I just can’t take this anymore.

- Wow, Layla figured out that the pixie thing was not a good idea? I am impressed. Why don’t they just leave Squank in the park? They can’t keep it on campus with how easily it is upset and causes trouble.

- Why is Roxy not going? It’s not like they’re headed for the past. She could go.

- Why did she say “my parents live there” instead of “this is my home”? At least we’re seeing Flora’s parents. And her father is such a dork. It is refreshing after all the fathers being so serious and composed. But her mother is such a peaceful disaster. I don’t know how she does it. At least the plants were kinda cool.

- Hello, Miele. So they just forgot that we already know about her being a fairy and going to school and then they show a flashback of it? It’s like Bloom doesn’t remember the flashback and Flora does? Wtf?!

- “Do you know where we are?” “In the middle of the forest.” Somehow, that is not reassuring or specific enough.

- Not like they’re hurting the giant fungi or something. This episode kinda reminds me of the evil willow in season 1, except that one was interesting.

- So Butterflix works only on non-nature? Well, I have bad news for you. Most of what you’re constantly surrounded by is nature!

- Why are the fungi stripping them of their transformation? How the hell? You know what? Whatever.

- Oh, damn. Even Flora got trapped. This is starting to get a little interesting. Not that they won’t be saved somehow - probably by Miele who sneaked after them - but I am starting to feel a little tension. I can’t believe it.

7x07:

- Didn’t she have to find the place where the fungi originated? Miele is just sprinkling them wherever and it’s working. Because, of course, it is!

- Flora, you would have died if Miele hadn’t saved you! And you have pulled so much shit over the years. You really don’t have the right to criticize her. At least she let her go with them.

- They’ve already ridden the ladybugs back in season 3. But that’s too far back for the writers to remember even if they brought back the ladybugs.

- They already fought the fungi. But can’t they use their energy to give nature energy so that it can fight the fungi that they can’t with their powers? Yup, that’s what they’re doing.

- Yeah, I think the glowing eyes suggest that something is happening.

- They are finally using their powers in a more interesting way! I cannot believe it. But isn’t Flora gonna bond with the magiwolf?

- Flora’s special spell looks both pretty cool and powerful. I just love me some glowy magical auras!

- Did they bond? They did, right? But why didn’t Flora hear him speak like Layla did with her fairy animal? Anyway, I love it! It is so adorable! And very mischievous. Do they really think that taking it to Alfea is a good idea? They do need to learn how to take care of their fairy animals and keep them in check instead of threatening to destroy the whole school.

- Flora, Flora, Flora. Smh. It can always get worse! At least they figured out that the pixies can’t get the job done. Winx can’t get the job done, let alone the pixies.

7x08:

- At least they are spending time with their fairy animals. But I am not a fan of them being so pushy, and especially Flora. She has always been so patient with plants but she is being so insensitive to Amarok. He’s a magiwolf! He’s not used to living in a fucking dorm!

- Man, Nex is such a damn asshole! At least this time Layla actually said something even if it was not nearly as much as it should have been. (She should just dump him tbh.) I just wish Helia hadn’t been dragged into the mess as well.

- Why is Flora mad at Helia? He hasn’t done anything wrong. He is even helping keep Amarok occupied in a more peaceful and orderly manner. One again, why is everyone being an asshole to everyone else?

- That cat is so fucking adorable! I want one! Who has a stone that can teleport me in the Winx universe so that I can get a kitty?

- “Cheeky losers”? Yeah, they totes talked like that in the Middle Ages. What the hell? Did no one figure out that they are going to have to make the medieval people speak in a period-correct manner? Apparently not.

- That kitty looks like a dangerous little beast. I am rethinking my desire for one.

- If they wanna stop the guards/soldiers/whatever without hurting them, why not just use some morphix? That can solve their problems.

- Why are people afraid of the fairies? What the fuck are the Earth fairies doing at this precise moment? They should be around at this point/still.

- It would have been so interesting to see what would have happened if Barfilius had been unable to get back to the teleportation chair and had been stuck between different times. And he could have hitchhiked with Winx when they were coming back or something. At least there would have been a point to his incompetence.

- What the fuck is this Rainbow Company and why the fuck did the writers think it was a good idea to include them? Wait, did Rainbow just drop their own company’s self-inserts?

- Those clothes I dig! I am not entirely sure how accurate for the time they are but I like the way they look.

- Well, they’re acting in a medieval play now. I have run out of “what the hell”s to give.

7x09:

- I am honestly not a fan of Musa falling for the valiant medieval musician. What is she gonna do? Take him with her like they’re doing with the animals?

- So the kitty is cute again and I want one again (even though it seems to be only one).

- I don’t think Kalshara particularly cares about Brafillius but it’s cute that he thinks she does. Especially since he has been shown to be scared of her.

- What the hell are those creatures that Brafilius summoned? That does not look like native Earth species. And poor donkey also.

- Did Musa just get caught because she was being distracted by a boy? Yeah, she really needs to get her shit together after Riven.

- Don’t tell me Orlando will fight Brafilius with music!

- Yeah, Musa definitely looks like she is handling this.

- They’re really being pretty useless in this season and having to get nature to do their job for them. And how convenient that they got the Butterflix transformation by barely doing anything for it (Mavilla was even shocked and said it was impossible).

- Wtf, did Musa just summon water drops? But the visuals of her special spell were so damn cool! THAT was actually pretty creative.

- She bonded with the cat, I knew it! It was pretty obvious that that was gonna happen.

- They are really finishing the play? *sigh*

- Did Musa just disappear in front of the entire crowd? Talk about a poor decision. They just stopped freaking out over the magic.

7x10:

- Yeah, Brafilius couldn’t even try to figure out if the cat has the First Color but why haven’t Winx tried? They have the perfect opportunity now that the cat is bonded to Musa. (And boy, what a snobby cat. I can see how it can look like Musa when she starts pouting.)

- Okay, Nex actually trying this time and taking to Squank was kinda cute, ngl. If he keeps being like that, he can stay.

- Helia really do be competing in origami with a cat... And getting destroyed... Quite literally.

- Why don’t Winx try to take care of their own damn animals! They are the ones that are bonded to the animals, yet they keep pawning them off on their boyfriends and then getting all sulky when something goes wrong. Well, the animals are primarily your responsibility so if you can tone the criticism the fuck down, that would be great.

- Omg, the bat metamorphosis! Kalshara has the best power!

- Now they wake up! Couldn’t pay attention to the racket sooner!

- They left KIKO in charge of these very massive, very wild animals? Wtf, he couldn’t even handle the pets in s4.

- Oh, the kitty can communicate? First origami, now this.

- Is that bird gonna be Stella’s animal? Yep, it will. But it’s spelled, right? Can the bond unspell it? That will be nice.

- Oof, Kalshara spelled the animals. And Winx’ powers aren’t supposed to work on them... right?

- Stella, it’s obviously spelled! You didn’t do anything wrong! Just use your brain instead of your anxious heart.

- Oh, she actually did! And they bonded! I think that was the cutest bond so far. But she named her bird Shiny? Okay, Stella.

- Stella’s special spell is pretty plain compared to those of Musa and Flora and even Layla.

- Oh, they fucked up Kalshara and Brafilius’ hideout. Finally. We’re gonna change locations at the very least. It gives the illusion of something happening.

7x11:

- Those tigers don’t look very fairy-animal-ly.

- Stella is really gonna make the animals wear clothes? Wow, they really outdid themselves this time and I don’t mean that in a good way.

- So... shiny eats gems? Interesting.

- At this point I’ll take Bloom x Sky over the fairy animals nonsense.

- Lmao @ Squank scaring Critty out of her mind. But poor Brandon with Shiny. I’m afraid she might eat him as well if she manages to get close enough to “kiss” him.

- What the hell, Stella? Here’s a simple equation for you - dying = no more fashion!

- Come on, Stella! You’ve faced so many monsters over the years? Why are you scared now?

- Okay, that’s definitely magical and definitely dark. But they have faced worse things.

- Poor baby tigers! But why don’t Winx just use their nature powers?

- Finally! And Nex was actually being useful this time. Plus, look at those super cute tiger cubs! Precious little balls of fur!

- Soooo... why are half of Winx handling this and the other half aren’t? There is legit zero reason for that. And Stella’s special spell can reverse the effect of the wild magic? Why the hell didn’t she use that back on Linphea... Oh, wait. That’s right. Their powers were taken by the fungi. Okay, this checks out for once. Surprisingly, I am also amazed that I remember as far as 5-6 episodes back. I wouldn’t have guessed it.

- Okay, yeah, the tiger cubs are so cute that they could turn a person good indeed. But, please, don’t take them to Gardenia!

- Oh, my god! What the fuck are tigers gonna do in Gardenia?! They could have found them a safe place with people who know how to take care of them in their native country! That would have been a better idea.

7x12:

- Roxy is “borrowing” the fairy animals? Tell me she’ll get her own!

- What the hell happened? And how does such a small bird knock out such a big wolf?

- My god, Flora is really getting on my nerves this season by scolding Amarok so much. Shut up, Flora! You’ve had your klutz moments too! And you are the one that took a magiwolf out of the damn forest and are trying to make it live in a dorm!

- Are you telling me that there are only, like, 7-8 planets? Because that is how much globes they have there and they seem to imply that they have covered the whole universe in their monitoring of the fairy animals.

- Are we going to see Tecna’s parents again? I am so excited! Oh, and they had Timmy over without even telling Tecna? That is actually kinda adorable! It means that they are really getting along with him!

- Where did Brafilius go? Back in time but when exactly? At the creation of techno magic? Don’t tell me he’s gonna fuck it up completely? Yep, he did!

- Tbh I expected more chaos. I guess only the droids are techno magic and the rest is just plain technology. Oh, and the cars are freaking out.

- Well, Brafilius is trapped now. If they don’t fuck up, they can have him arrested.

- Tecna is sure getting poetic for someone that is so technical. Her magic is always so damn awesome, though! How have I not noticed before this rewatch?

- Dammit, they’re gonna miss Brafilius again!

7x13:

- Oh, goody. Only Bloom hasn’t gotten her fairy animal... Aaaaaand it just showed up! I mean, this unicorn’s hair is legit made of flames! It is obviously gonna be her animal. She even said she always wanted a unicorn (just like any girl ever) in season 4.

- Who’s working in the rescue park when Winx are running around in the past?

- The pixies just really caused a mini storm? And how is holding on to each other while floating aimlessly in the air “taking cover”?

- Why are they on Earth again? How come they met 1/3 of the fairy animals on Earth?

- Oh, thought the unicorn was trying to make the into shredded cheese but it just trapped them instead? Boooooooring.

- It’s wild magic, we know! It was obvious. Except Stella is trapped and she can’t unspell it with her special spell.

- How convenient that her fire powers are working on a unicorn that was shooting fire blasts out of its horn. You know, totes like a dragon. Of course, Bloom just managed to unspell it even though that should be Stella’s specialty.

- Not a song! Oh, thank god, it didn’t last long.

- Don’t tell me that the unicorn has healing powers... Well, of course it does! And it can also speak to all of them even though the other animals can only speak to their bonded fairy. Right.

- Oh, come on! If the unicorn could counteract the wild magic, why did it even get changed by it?! The “cure” was right there in its body!

- Well, this emotional resolution ain’t shit.

another two AUs i didn't talk about much but posted them...

1: Winx AU! I have it on AO3 with the title "Per aspera ad astra" and the series called "Winx Club GX" (totally not based off "YGO GX"). It's basically an AU where the girls of Winx Club have children, and the protagonist is Bloom and Brandon's son, Jandor; his best friend is Atan, Musa and Tecna's son, and they later meet Saleh and Aimon, respectively Flora's son and Aisha's one.

I split the intro in two chapters because it was becoming a little long, and it's basically the girls attending their "university years" at Alfea. But some relationship break, like Bloom and Sky, Stella and Brandon--and even Flora and Helia, but in a less angry way because Helia was dating Riven, yet he still wants to take care of Flora's yet-to-be-born daughter, as he's her father. The first actual chapter is an intro to the new characters, the Winx Club's sons, who are 13 years old and still attend middle school. During a school trip, they meet in the swamp and an abnormal thunderstorm makes them search a shelter in a cabin. When they have to go out (because they risk to get killed inside the cabin) they meet a suspicious boy of, they assume, their age, who doesn't know about the thunderstorm but wants to know about "the Temple of Might".

2: DQXI x MLB AU! Still don't have a title for it as well, but I'm slowly writing the second chapter. Eleven is a carpenter in Heliodor and has a shop with Rab. One day, a thief steals his horse while he's delivering items to customers, but the thief surprisingly takes El with him and gives him the horse back. Just to make the day even more unusual, a monster attacks Heliodor searching a certain "Erik". Thus, Rab has to introduce Eleven to the Miracle Box, an old Drasilian treasure with various Miraculous inside, but the Black Cat, Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous are missing after Dundrasil's destruction. Eleven transforms into Mister Bug and meets Cat Noir, with whom has already a fight with, since the Miraculous is stolen (And, Cat Noir is actually Erik, who simply found the Miraculous around Dundrasil's ruins during one of his journeys).
