Sorry in advance for asking all these things 😭 but first up, your oc is cool! She’s so stylish as heck! She gives me that 80s funky/chill vibe and her hair is flawless! And I adore for bond with sasuke so much, Ahh. Would it be ok to ask about their lore together? How did they meet and bond together like mother and son? (And kakashi too! He’s papa).
Plus, I also appreciate all the Sasuke positivity so much. From your drawings to random posts. It’s so refreshing and uplifting for me. There’s to much negativity for the poor kid these days. And I greatly respect the “my son!” Feeling to for sasuke. I to get that parent vibe haha (sasuke is little guy no matter what, must squish respectfully).
And for atla, if your oc and characters you like. What benders would they be? And if they are besties with any of the Alta crew?
-
P.s; i do Like seeing the snake positivity! It’s wonderful seeing that. Poor things also get bad rap as well. (I like seeing hognoses, they are cute!! Myself I wish I had one and tarantulas😭) ANYWAYS, TY FOR POSITIVE CONTENT SO MUCH. Be well and have a great day/night! Sorry again for the long ask!
Never ever be sorry for sending an ask! I love love getting them and getting to chat w lovely pals like you! So thank you for popping over to send me an ask ❤︎₊ ⊹  You are always welcome to ask about my lil fam! I will try to keep it short and sweet lol ₊⊹ Ahhh thank you so much for saying so, Akami is very very dear to me! I’m glad u think she’s got a bit of a retro vibe. I always see her fitting in well w that 90s-ish style from the 80s to the 00’s ! (I actually have a 90's au for them too)
Shisui was one of Akami's first childhood friends and later her first lil love. She goes w Shisui to meet Sasuke when she’s 13yr, he’s only a few weeks old but the second she holds him and his chubby baby hand swipes her chin she falls in love. Bc of her relationship with Shisui Akami spends more and more time around Sasuke— he’d be tagging along after the big kids, but she always made time for him. Even if it was 20 extra minutes before a mission or after a long day of training, she’d hide her injuries and play with him instead. She’s one of many Anbu called to the scene the night of the Uchiha massacre. The second she found him all alone she knew she was taking him home and she quit Anbu that night.  Akami never felt heard or seen as a child so she tries her best to make sure that Sasuke has a voice. She didn’t intend to take on a parental role; it just happened over the years. She’s always open about his family and ready to listen when he confides in her, she teaches him every single uchiha jutsu she knows (and eventually kakashi does too) so Sasuke can still feel connected to his Clan. She gets him through his nightmares and defends him tooth and nail, she teaches him how to cook and use a sword. No matter what, he's always gonna be her baby and she’ll be his Kami-chan. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for him.  Akami and Kakashi knew each other as kids, they did not get along until their traumas sort of forced them to see eye to eye and rely on each other.  But it wasn’t a friendship until their early-mid teens, even then it always felt like more. Shortly after she takes in Sasuke they start a tumultuous FWB only to realize they very obviously love each other. Sasuke approves bc Kakashi makes Akami happy and is always there for her (for better or worse) and Kakashi and Sasuke start to have a very meaningful connection well before he becomes his sensei.  Yes parent squad ! Sasuke deserves the world and I love that you love him too!!<3 In ATLA Akami would be a water bender, she’s a descendant of the Yuki clan so it just seems fitting for her heritage! Tho I’d be wary of her healing abilities, she’s more of a fighter and I would not put it past her to learn how to blood bend! (She was Anbu Root for a reason💀)  Sasuke is fire bb! Kakashi I go back and forth on but I think he would be fire too .I love love love love ATLA and have tried to make an au for her but I find it hard to imagine Akami interacting w the gang (They all just feel so young lol- though she’d probably like Suki and Zuko best) I think that she would get along really well with Piandao! June, Jet and Iroh too. She’d def feel some sort of kinship for Azula (ruthless + manipulative never taught to love, w similar mommy and daddy issues!🤝lol) Yes Yes! I love snakes, they are so beautiful !! When I made my oc I really wanted to have her be ostracized because of her father and resemblance so it’s so fun to play w both the beauty and monstrous qualities for her. 🐍Akami and her summons Ryū are based off of mangrove pit vipers and Copper bellied water snakes ! Thank you again for the ask! I could blab about them all day if my super long winded response wasn’t proof lol 💕💕Take care my dear and have lovely day and or night :)

Red String of Fate (1/2)
Kakashi Hatake x gn!Reader
Prompt: Soulmate AU
Word Count: 2,1k
Summary: The Red String of Fate tied around his finger told Kakashi all he needed to know: he had a soulmate.
Ao3 , part two
Tumblr media
When he was a child, Hatake Kakashi was not a firm believer in the fact that everyone had a soulmate. While in the academy, he had been taught what soulmates are and how the concept of them worked, he was never one to fully immerse himself in the subject. Even when forcefully brought up in conversations, such as the ones with his sensei Minato, he often avoided speaking about the topic altogether, acting as though it did not exist.
In some place of his heart he had always known that somewhere out there, there was someone who was born to love him. His perfect half was somewhere in the world with an identical red string tied around their pinky finger, most likely searching for him, searching for the connection they were destined to have. And here he sat, denying and depriving the said person of their shared birthright. Some part of him cared about that, that part left him feeling guilty. The other part on the other hand deprived him of his perfect puzzle piece and found him undeserving of such affections.
While on the month-long mission to watch a pregnant Uzumaki Kushina on the orders of her husband, the Fourth Hokage Namikaze Minato, more so than ever before, Kakashi had been confronted with the concept of soulmates. One had to be blind to overlook the fact that the couple was destined for each other and irrecoverably so, totally in love with one another. When together, the two of them practically oozed out all the love they felt for the other, always staring at the other with a lovesick expression.
Following their deaths, Kakashi realized that their love was so great that they even followed each other into the afterlife, where they could reunite. Whether he would have a love as vigorous as they had one day was a question he knew would go unanswered for long, one he knew he didn’t want to have answered for some time.
His opinion on the matter of soulmates, two halves of one, was inconsistent during his time in the ANBU. Kakashi actively avoided human contact above the necessary, never seeking out the help or presence of anyone. On the days when Gai came around for a rivalry match or a spar, he sometimes found himself indulging the spandex-wearing teen, but more often than that he made his quick escape as soon as possible.
Later Kakashi theorized that back then there the part of himself that was more self-hating than anything else had consumed his being more so than any other part there was. Had he met his soulmate then, he wouldn’t be sure if something more could have blossomed between the two or if he would have pushed them away. The latter was more likely, Kakashi concluded.
At the same time, his ANBU self had often been comforted by the thought of a soulmate. The thought that somewhere out there was someone who would love him for who he is and who would be in the future helped him sleep during missions. When he woke up with the crimson blood of his teammates and friends staining his pale hands and when he did his best to wash off the stains, the thought of someone out there for him specifically helped ease his worries. He often imagined their hand in his, helping him scrub off the blood from every crease and crevice, soaping in his hand delicately before drying it off for him to let out a sigh of relief.
The blood was gone, and beside him was no one.
After his nightmares, Kakashi often felt lonely. It wasn’t often that the apparent loneliness haunting his everyday life became obvious to him, and it was rare for him to overthink it. On those days when the thoughts consumed him, and he found himself drowning in his chosen solitude, the thought that there was someone eased his worries. His fingers would absentmindedly play with the red string tied to the pinky and pull on it several times, reassuring himself that on the other end there was someone.
Sometimes he even felt how the person on the other end of the string also pulled on their connection, a sensation which left him stumbling in shock several times. His heart stuttered every time they initiated the confirmation, every time the string tightened when he was on a mission to foreign lands. Once the string began to slack between them, did his heart drop to his stomach again. Every time, he appeared to get closer to his soulmate or his soulmate moved toward him, did their connection relax again after reaching a new high of closeness.
For a long time, the fact frustrated him greatly.
Was he undeserving of his soulmate? He had a soulmate, that much he knew. Never did the string connecting them go entirely slack or indicate that when he pulled, no one would feel the pull on the other side. So what kept him from keeping the person on the other side? Was he not meant to meet them? Or even worse: did they not want him?
The thought often kept him awake at night.
Kakashi may have been a genius, but soulmates were a topic he did not entirely grasp. It left him befuddled, confused. Whether he would ever meet his own, he did not know. He could only wish for it to happen.
Seeking them out appeared to be impossible. Kakashi had concluded that from the several attempts at finding his soulmate. After getting permission from the Hokage to do so, he had tried to follow the red string, to have the connection between them tighten, to pull himself closer to his other half. To him, it was as if every time he moved closer to his soulmate, they took a step backward to compensate for his progression. So every time the connection tightened, it slacked yet again. The distance laying between them only got bigger the more he tried.
Fate, it seemed, did not want them to meet. At least not yet.
Now that he was the Sixth Hokage of Konoha, Kakashi wasn’t so sure if he even had time for a soulmate. During his time of reluctance to get inaugurated, the fact that somewhere out there still was a soulmate was something that occupied his mind. Often he found himself sitting in Ichiraku, his favorite miso sitting before him and chopsticks in hand, while his talkative ex-student talked his ear off about anything that came to the blond’s mind. Many times they were joined by a sullen-looking pink-haired, another ex-student of his, who had to deal with the departure of her own soulmate.
Every time Kakashi heard her talk about her other half leaving, the thought of his other half leaving him behind, once they found each other, came up. Mindlessly, he twirled his chopsticks in his hand, not paying much attention to what he was doing. His identical charcoal eyes stared at the meal before him instead of eating it as he should, ignoring the rumbling of his stomach after his long day at work.
“Kakashi-sensei, are you alright?” Came the inquiry from his other side, said pink-haired Kunoichi staring at him with a worried expression. Sakura’s brows were drawn into a furrow, her bright green eyes raking him over once for any outward sign of injury or illness.
Kakashi waved his former student off with a lazy wave. “Maa, Sakura, no need to worry about me.”
Sakura did not look convinced at all. Rather, she quirked an eyebrow at him, giving him a questioning glance. Her determination shone through the way her lip quirked downward, almost into a melancholic drop.
“Sensei?” Sakura spoke up with a timid voice, almost reminiscent of when she was a mere Genin in his team, under his command. “Do you think soulmates are meant to be together?”
The silver-haired Hokage froze at the question, no longer playing with the food in front of him. The noise he made at the back of his throat was anything but civil, coming out both shocked and hurt at the same time.
Awkwardly, he cleared his throat. What Sakura needed now was encouragement from her sensei, not his silence in response.
“Well …” Never before had Kakashi felt this awkward when talking to one of his students. Save for the one time, he had to explain to Naruto that he could not marry his ramen. Underneath his mask, he bit his cheeks while formulating a reply to give. “Sakura, you and Sasuke have gone through so much. Distance won’t be the end of your relationship.”
His words rang true as a smile blossomed on Sakura’s face in an instant, her green eyes becoming brighter. “You think so, sensei?” Her tone was hopeful, almost dreamy, as she leaned closer and practically radiated excitement.
Kakashi nodded with a close-eyed smile.
Sakura looked so delighted when in the presence of her soulmate. She was practically glowing from all the joy she was not only feeling, but also expressing. In Sasuke’s presence, she wore a smile that was more radiant than the one at work.
The silver-haired Hokage couldn’t help but wonder if that was how he would feel around his own soulmate.
Icha Icha only fueled the scenarios he was able to dream up in his spare time. Curled into his bedsheets after midnight, his body gave in to the exhaustion burned into his bones. His back sunk into the mattress and the sheets lay comfortably over his chest, yet the peace to be able to dream did not come easy to him. Distantly, he could feel his hand reach out for the worn volume of his favorite literature placed on the nightstand before he pulled it back, choosing to leave the book where it lay.
The side of the bed beside him felt cold, as it always did. Why he had even bothered to get a bed for two, Kakashi did not know. More than anything, to do so had been a subconscious choice of his. He had practically gravitated toward the piece of furniture he ended up buying, not even looking at any others.
Now, as he lay alone in something meant for two, he wasn’t so sure whether he regretted that choice or not.
Faintly, the red string around his finger glowed a soft shade of crimson, one that eerily reminded him of the Sharingan he used to possess. They were similar in their shade, but the string was without a doubt the one that had a more gentle aspect to it in comparison to the harsh tomoe swirling in the crimson.
Kakashi’s other finger went to wrap around the red string of fate and tugged on it several times. He wasn’t sure what he was expecting when he did so, whether it was a reply or for the other end of the string to emerge, but when nothing happened, the disappointment settling in his chest did not feel foreign anymore. It was a familiar feeling, one that haunted both his many nightmares and sleepless nights.
At least there was someone at the other end, he thought bitterly.
It could be worse, he always told himself.
Even after over three decades of living, Kakashi had not been able to meet the person at the other end of the string. There weren’t many fates out there worse than his own, so much he had been able to conclude from watching his friends’ fates. Many of them had met their soulmates before they had even become a ninja, before they had even gone on their first mission, and before they had even learned the significance of their fate.
As much as Kakashi wanted to, he could not count himself as part of said group.
Still, the constant feeling of the string around his finger brought him some sense of comfort.
The omnipresent hope he held too close to his heart brought his harsh breaths to a softer tone and calmed his body down from the high of a long day at work. He was able to have his muscles relax from their constant tensed state and simply lay there, his mind no longer working hard for the village. In his mind, instead, lulled the thought of a figure drawn so bleary that Kakashi could not decipher their figure. Neither he could see clear features such as the shape and color of their lips and eyes or their skin tone. All he knew was that there was someone.
Someone made for him, someone born to love him. There was someone there. For the fact that throughout all seconds of his life he had never been alone, for that he would always be grateful.
Even if he never got to meet his soulmate, the red string of fate wrapped around his finger served as a reminder that Hatake Kakashi was deserving of love, so the fates had decided.

Ninja Daily: Vapors 98
"Are you sure my presence is going to be much of a deterrent?" Jiraiya sighed, stretching the ankle that was crossed over his knee. Tsunade's lips thinned slightly, but she didn't say anything. He tried again, raising his voice slightly. "If I didn't know better, I would say that you were just trying to keep me within Konoha. Are you afraid I'm going to do something stupid like walk into Ame and try to talk Konan down?"
His tone was placid, but Tsunade knew it hid an element of danger. He was emotionally compromised. He knew it, she knew it- hell, Keiko probably knew it, although her poker face had become exponentially better in the course of her employment.
That didn't mean he would react well to her admitting that yes, she was at least partially motivated by fear that he would get his fool head bashed in because that was what happened when fools rushed in.
"What do you think the Tsuchikage is thinking, if he is at all?" she said instead, conjuring up more irritation than she really felt for the missive she had received pressuring and shaming Konoha. He couldn't really believe that Konoha was more liable for their traitors' behavior than anyone else was. It was unprecedented to hold a missing nin's country of origin responsible for their crimes, after they'd been disowned. But Oonoki was trying to force Konoha to pay reparations for what Orochimaru had done years after he had been branded a dissident- something about that damn base in Grass country?
Jiraiya took the bait for now and shrugged.
"Probably wants to get the first rhetorical blow in, before you accuse him of espionage. Now if you retaliate, it just looks like you're pissed that he wants you to take responsibility for what Orochimaru did in foreign countries."
She had already guessed as much. That didn't make it any less annoying.
"What a moron," Tsunade groused, fanning herself with the letter she'd been reading. "As if I'm just anxious to get into another international problem when we already have Akatsuki on our hands. He's really not that important."
Inwardly, she winced. Even when she was trying to change the topic, she couldn't help but reference the organization that was making her old teammate so broody. It wasn't as if their previous subject –Orochimaru- had ceased to be a sore spot either, but he was long past the point of being saved. Konan was too, but if she knew her teammate he was retaining the hope that if he could just talk to his old student she could be persuaded to leave Akatsuki.
Jiraiya was understandably torn up about discovering that someone he had long mourned was in fact alive and associated with a terrorist organization that had vowed to murder one of his godchildren and had assaulted the other godchild. It was the sort of awkward revelation that you couldn't quite look past, no matter how much you liked a person.
She hadn't entirely been lying when she said she hoped that his presence in the city would deter this 'Tobi' from coming back to harass Aiko. If he had really just wanted to take her with him, he would have.
No, that incident had been about something else. It was quite probably meant for someone else. Tobi had stated his intentions, terrified the teen, and batted around an entire ANBU squad to make the point that he could do as he pleased. It might be a play against Jiraiya in specific, or perhaps Aiko's captain- Kakashi had a lot of enemies. Or Tobi might just be picking a high-value target with a decent reputation to make the point that he was powerful to enhance his own reputation.
For the moment, she was acting on the hypothesis that Tobi hadn't necessarily been bluffing about returning. He might be back, if only because failing to follow through would undermine the effect of his first foray into Konoha. If that happened, it would be better to have another s-class shinobi on hand. It wasn't like Jiraiya found spending time with his goddaughter to be much of a trial. They'd shared several meals while he'd been back from what Tsunade had half-heartedly heard while busy in her own work.
"Hime, you can't keep me here forever. I'm of a lot more use in the field and you know it."
She was saved from having to come up with a response by the blur of movement that occurred when Aiko used Hiraishin to flicker into the office and then immediately ducked and rolled away, popping back up on the floor with the strangely wary expression she used when returning from foreign offices.
'I only tried to swat her the once,' Tsunade thought rather sulkily. It was just a reflex to hit ninja that suddenly appeared a few feet away.
"Tsunade-sama, the Mizukage would like aid." Her voice was unusually high, and Aiko all but ran her words together. Tsunade idly noted that one of her bangs appeared to be scorched, much more interested in the content of the girl's words. Jiraiya had perked up in obvious interest. "She called me because her rebels or dissidents or whatever took note that half her Jounin were out surrounding Ame and they're trying a coup."
"Well, there's your field work," Tsunade noted with biting irony to her old partner. She snapped her fingers—and the ANBU stepped into sight, ready for orders. "Put the village on lockdown, and make sure Shizune knows what's going on. I'm going to go take care of this personally."
It was largely her fault that so many had been deployed to Ame, after all. Or her responsibility, rather. She couldn't fail to come to her allies' aid, but nor did she have the excess of powerful teams on standby to be deployed at the moment. There was no point in risking genin teams on this. No. Three S-class shinobi were standing right in the office, and that was the kind of backup that could make a significant difference in a pinch.
"Aiko-chan, would you be a darling and take us to the Mizukage?" She straightened her haori, wiggled her feet inside her heels, and strode over to the girl even as Jiraiya held out an arm gallantly.
Aiko looked downright confused at their lack of urgency, but gamely slid her hand under her godfather's arm. That was one of the things that separated the experienced shinobi from new shinobi. Worrying wouldn't speed their feet, and they had fought in so many battles that this was just another day out. In contrast… this would probably be Aiko's first large scale battle, wouldn't it? The great nations had been hanging in tenuous peace for so long that the closest thing she'd have experienced would have been border problems. "Come on now," Tsunade added gently, placing a hand on Aiko's shoulder. "Is this enough conta-"
She cut off her own sentence, because they were suddenly a continent away and in the middle of a firefight. The Mizukage appeared to be strangling a young man with her bare hands. Her fidgety bodyguard was fending off some scar-faced swordswoman, but the older bodyguard was nowhere to be seen.
"That was fast!" Terumi called out, sounding not exactly cheerful but not stressed either. The tension in her jaw showed the lie. "I'm afraid that they haven't donned a convenient uniform, so I've just been killing the ones that attack me. That should work for you as well, since they'll know that Konoha nin are my allies."
"Sounds acceptable," Tsunade replied, peering around her surroundings with interest.
At her voice, Terumi actually jerked around to verify the identities of her backup, mouth hanging open. She dropped her prey and shook her head slightly. "Well, this I didn't ex-"
She was cut off by the imaginative shriek of "harlot!" from a new opponent and then the Mizukage was distracted by another fight.
"Nice place they have here," Jiraiya deadpanned.
It looked like hell. Blood was running in the gutters from uphill, which didn't bode well for that residential district. Most of the doors were fastened shut as if civilians were cowering inside, but some had clearly been burnt and then put out with powerful water jutsu. The destroyed building faces were better than a gutted ash pit of a city, but they weren't going to do anything for Mist's tourism.
Tsunade and Jiraiya stayed together, falling back into their old teamwork with the precision and grace of two expert musicians playing a familiar tune. The Mizukage hadn't been wrong when she said that fights would come to them as they basically steamrolled through the village with the Mizukage, clearing streets and breaking up the other fights they found. After a while, Tsunade noted that Aiko was darting ahead of the small group of powerhouses.
"Do you think she painted her kunai with nail polish, or does someone actually sell those?" Jiraiya sounded mildly pained. He was paying more attention to his goddaughter's strange antics than his own fight. After a while, it did get repetitive to smack down C and B class shinobi who really didn't stand a chance.
"Oh, dear," Mei's sissy swordsman breathed, clearly having overheard and then turned to see what Aiko was doing. He had looked just in time to see her dart through a line of the rebels that crowded the streets (the loyalists had figured out mid-battle to re-tie their hitai-ites around their arms as identification). The way that everyone she passed erupted in localized explosions, sending blood spurting out in a wave behind her, was sort of beautiful, if macabre. But…
"Did you see her do more than touch any of them?" Mei asked, caught between amusement and curiosity.
Jiraiya had already turned back to his own fight and Tsunade said nothing. She hadn't seen Aiko touch most of them—but when she did, it was literally just a touch. Tsunade wouldn't be sharing that, though. It was good to be on peaceable terms with Kiri, but that didn't mean it was a good idea to help them dissemble a technique that was unique to Konoha. At least, she assumed it was unique to Konoha. It almost had to be Hiraishin-aided at the least.
Her hands were smeared with blood and her coat spotted with it, but Tsunade felt a grim sort of satisfaction when less than an hour's work confirmed that Kiri was still Terumi's village.
She had to cringe when Aiko found her way back to them, all but soaking in blood. There were semi-clean lines across her face where she'd clearly tried to wipe her nose and mouth clean, as well as her eyes, but it was unattractive at best. "Uzumaki, I think that you're going to have to perfect whatever it is you've been doing," she commented.
Aiko just shrugged. "I was doing well, and then I stupidly tried to go back for one I'd missed and was too close to an explosion," she explained without really explaining at all.
Tsunade let it slide. "Mizukage-dono!" she called out, striding towards where she had last seen the other woman.
After all that had been settled and they finally went home, Tsunade caught Aiko's arm and then jerked away, because the cold blood felt slimy under her fingertips. Uncaring that the office they had just teleported into was already occupied by Shizune, two ANBU, and a couple of slack-jawed idiots from the downstairs offices, she rather bluntly raised her question. "Uzumaki, what was that 'touch of death' monstrosity you had going on?"
The teenager blinked twice, and tugged on her shirt sleeve with her thumb and forefingers. "I'm afraid I don't know what you mean, Hokage-sama," she said in a tone that couldn't be more innocent. The image might have been convincing if she wasn't dripping blood on Tsunade's nice carpet.
Tsunade snorted loudly. "I'm sure," she said dryly. She waved the girl off, eyes flickering over to the people waiting for her attention. She had more immediate concerns than dragging technique details out of a reticent teenager. For all she knew, Aiko might claim it as a clan technique, in which case even the Hokage didn't have a right to an explanation.
'That was more than I had planned when I got up this morning.' Feeling the Mizukage calling her through her seal had put a pit of a damper on breakfast… come to think of it, how long had Sai waited for her to come back? She winced. He'd need an apology in the morning. Aiko had been all but sopping wet when she trudged out the Hokage's office—and then politely thought better of it, transporting herself directly to her apartment. She wrung the clothes out in her bathtub and then carted them directly to the washing machine, not caring if anyone saw her in her underwear on the brief trip. She might have gone to her safehouse instead, if she had gotten around to moving clothes over already. That outfit certainly wasn't going to be re-worn tonight.
Aiko let her head rest against the tile and tried to massage shampoo as deeply into her hair as possible to force out any hint of blood from clinging to her scalp. She ended up doing that three times before she was satisfied.
It was relatively easy to tag an opponent and move away before she destroyed the seal as well as the flesh it had been stuck to. She had done something similar while fighting Mukade's puppets, but she now knew that fighting a large group of people with that technique was a bit different. For starters, it got a lot messier.
'It didn't help that I was impulsive enough to move backwards,' Aiko noted with a little bit of humor at her own expense as she dressed. She had fallen into a routine, and then stupidly failed to adjust how long she was waiting to destroy the last seal she had set to compensate for the fact that she hadn't moved far enough away to clear the blood splatter.
She glanced down at her own hands, as if expecting to see that they were still covered in blood. They were immaculate, of course.
They shouldn't be. They were always bloody. All she ever did was kill people. How was it that Tsunade had described her variation on Hiraishin- a touch of death? Wasn't that the exact same phrase Kakashi had used months ago after he'd first seen it?
Apt.
A strange emptiness ripped through her chest, leaving her bereft and mildly shaken. What kind of person was she becoming? She didn't regret killing Shou or any number of other people. If she was in the same situation, she would make the same choices. But that didn't mean she was comfortable. God help her, she loved fighting, and thought of killing as something that was just attached. A side-effect that meant she'd done well on her mission. The fact that she wasn't wracked by self-hatred for that probably said something terrible about what kind of human being she was.
Her first eleven or so years in this world hadn't been like that. Mostly, they had been dull and repetitive. But there had been some sort of comfort in the daily maintenance required to keep house and raise Naruto. This world hadn't changed, but she had.
'I'm being stupid. I'd never be happy if I just quit to become a housewife or whatever.'
Aiko flopped down face-first on the couch, letting her right arm flop off the side and curling the left into her ribs. Still. It would be nice to remind herself that she was capable of doing something that wasn't destructive.
"Auurrgghhh!" She bared her teeth and made an incredibly hideous, aggressive groan into the couch cushion.
What was she trying to prove to herself? She'd had non-destructive hobbies before, and they hadn't solved anything. Re-writing children's stories and movies hadn't made her feel any better when she had started her actual work, except as a distraction.
Was she even capable of another doing anything else at this point? Tsunade had to be completely fucking mad to have entrusted her with Fukiko.
She paused, mulling over that line of thought.
Now she was mildly curious as to whether she was capable of doing something that was purely helpful. Like… medical ninjutsu, maybe. That wouldn't be a total waste of her time, would it? She wouldn't want to get good enough that she got pulled back to the support… as if that would happen at this point, she realized sheepishly. Still. She didn't want to be a medic nin, but wouldn't it be nice to be capable of at least patching herself up?
Aiko deliberately didn't think too deeply into what she was doing when she went straight to the archives that Tsunade had finally allowed her unilateral access to and dug around in a completely different section than usual. It absolutely was not allowed for her to take the material out of the building, but she didn't care. She unrolled a scroll on low level, incredibly basic medical ninjutsu—the kind of thing that Itachi had done to encourage her cuts to heal—and read it from top to bottom.
Then she went and scrubbed the blood off the bathroom tiles, because that scroll was god-awfully dull and she needed to do something a little more mentally stimulating to wake her up to the point where she was willing to try a new jutsu on herself.
With the bleach thoroughly washed off of her flesh, she settled down on her bed with the half-rolled scroll on her lap. Aiko stared blankly at it for a while, as if it would suddenly make some sort of intuitive sense. The first step was 'convert your chakra to medical chakra'. How the hell was she supposed to do that? She knew it came naturally to some people, and if there was an easier way of accomplishing such a thing, it would have been detailed. That just meant that either she had the aptitude or she didn't. Uncertainly, she read the thing again, as if inspiration would come. When it didn't, she rested her head in her hands and tried to think.
Okay. Her first approach wasn't working. Maybe it would make more sense to try converting her chakra once she had something in mind to heal? She did work a lot better with a goal. With that in mind, she unholstered a gleaming orange kunai and brought the tip down the inside curve of her left calf to make a thin scratch. With her constitution, it would heal overnight, if she couldn't fix it. Easily, she flicked the resulting blood off and put the blade away before channeling chakra to her right hand.
How hard could this be? Benign chakra. All she needed was chakra that didn't hurt anyone. Surely she was capable of that. Sasuke had managed that, for crap's sake, and he was hardly nice nurse material. Tons of people did this. Karin had managed to teach it to classes full of pre-genin. She didn't have to be the next Tsunade. She just had to be capable of making something that didn't hurt people.
She tried touching the cut with her water-natured chakra to get an understanding of what had to change. That didn't help. She tried to channel chakra from each of her gates in succession. She tried everything that seemed half-plausible and a dozen things that didn't. The little bit of blood seeping out of the scrape almost seemed to be taunting her. It took hours for her to admit defeat.
"Fine."
Feeling tired, Aiko let the energy she had been directing to her hand fade and straightened her back, lifting her head to stare unblinkingly up at the ceiling. Fine, she couldn't do it. Experiment conducted and failure. Her limbs had never felt so heavy, but she responsibly pulled her boots back on and went to return the scroll before anyone noted it missing. Then she went to her safehouse and slept.
That had been stupid. She should stick to what she was good at.
Still, the first thing she did when she woke up was hold her palm in front of her face and try to make it glow with minty chakra.
Konan took a deep breath, and carefully extracted a bit of water out of the paper flower in her hair to ensure that it was as crisp as possible. The dampness in Ame did her ninjutsu no favors, even if it was hardly crippling. Still, she had been feeling much better. The lingering sluggishness in her hip had just suddenly been gone last week.
She ceased fidgeting when she was joined by the more punctual among Akatsuki. Hidan trailed in almost last, sullen and reticent. He had been complaining about being confined to headquarters, but wasn't bold enough to disobey Pein. Still, his whining about the need to sacrifice to his god was becoming a nuisance.
It was as if all the air went out of the room when Pein graced them with his presence. Konan examined him fondly, eyes tracing the way that his regal posture made him seem intimidating and shying away from the reminder that he was using dead flesh to walk among them. It wasn't for a mortal to question her god. He was going to bring peace, even though he had to resort to military might to do it. His methods were his own, when the prize was so incontestably wonderful.
The only shame was that his servants had not been doing an adequate job enforcing his will. They still only had one bijuu.
"Zetsu and Tobi will retrieve the jinchuuriki of the four-tails."
Konan repressed a quirk of the lips at Pein's timely words. Others seemed less pleased, but held their tongues. They were learning, then. She had half-feared that Hidan would argue that he should be sent out. But Zetsu and Tobi could travel and accomplish this task with more expediency than another team.
"Kisame, you will be maintaining the rain in Ame in my absence."
Her amusement froze. That was the first she had heard of this. She waited patiently for the order to accompany him—she usually did. But that did not happen. He administered several warnings and reminders about what had to be done in his absence, the potential danger posed by the shinobi circling Ame (most of the men present seemed to roll their eyes) and then he said that she would be in charge in his absence.
Her heartbeat quickened. Had she displeased him?
As soon as they were alone, she dared to ask. "Pein-sama?"
He gave her an indulgent look, so she felt free to press forward.
"Where is it that you go?"
"Do not fear." He turned away dismissively, his cloak floating behind him. "I will be back soon for the extraction."
"Erp!"
Karin's mouth fell open and she sat straight up, inadvertently knocking over the med kit she had been painstakingly restocking.
"It's gone!" She looked at Sasuke with wide eyes, and put a hand to her chest.
He had no idea what she was talking about.
"That chakra signature," she snapped out, exasperated. "In the rain, it's just gone."
Kakashi had been twenty feet away, having just returned from a patrol route, but suddenly he was right by Karin's side. After a few moments, Yamato and Genma exchanged tired looks and followed him over.
"But the rain is still going," Naruto offered uneasily. "I thought that as long as it was being produced, you would sense that chakra. Does it just happen to be raining?"
"No," Karin said tersely. "Well, maybe. It could be natural rain, although I doubt it. I was sensing chakra in it before because it was actively being used to track. But it would take an extraordinarily skilled user to infuse water with her chakra, turn it into rain, and then maintain the connection even as the rain fell for hundreds of miles in each direction. That's why it was so shocking that the rain has been tinted with the same chakra for days. This… has no chakra in it. A skilled user could be infusing water with their chakra and saturating the atmosphere until it rained by taking advantage of natural processes to compensate for not being… you know," Karin shrugged as if struggling for words.
"Idiotically powerful and wasteful?" Naruto offered.
His cousin nodded. "I was looking for a more technical description, but that'll work, I guess."
"Have you sensed anyone moving around?" Kakashi prodded.
Karin shook her head. "No, but I can't sense to the center of the country, where they'd be," she offered sheepishly, pushing her fingers together.
"Neither can I; so let's call it even," Kakashi muttered, ruffling his hair. He heaved a sigh and looked up. "Two hypotheses occur. One, the person who was maintaining the jutsu before is too weary to carry on, and is having a subordinate attempt to mimic the effect to keep us at bay. Or two, that person left," he finished darkly.
There was an uneasy silence while the two teams chewed that over.
After a moment, Genma was the one to react. "I suppose we should contact the other teams, captain," he pointed out, shoving his hands in his pockets. "This is the first time that the situation has changed since we've been here."
"Other than the Mist teams going home?" Naruto muttered, biting on his lower lip. No one had explained that yet, but something must have happened.
"Well, there are still plenty of Konoha, Kumo, and Suna teams," Kakashi sighed. "Sasuke, would you please summon Katsuya-sama and ask her to pass a message to Tsunade-sama? Genma, run a message to the eastern camp. I'll go to the western camp. Tenzo, you're in charge of the kids until I get back."
"Yes, sir!" Yamato acknowledged, straightening a bit.
He had been trusted with many lives, but those were usually ANBU level shinobi. Karin and Sasuke were Chuunin, and technically Naruto was still a genin. Still, the mission to make sure nothing happened in the hour or so that he was the only ANBU level shinobi around shouldn't be too difficult.
Yamato nearly reevaluated that assessment when Sasuke dismissed Katsuya and all three of the teenagers present exchanged completely innocuous, innocent looks.
He shuffled backwards, somehow uncomfortable with the situation but not able to verbalize what was wrong. There was a distinct sense of danger in the air. Yamato cast his senses out in all directions, desperately trying to pinpoint what was wrong. Was that- did light just glint ominously off of Karin's eyes? Warily, he examined the teenagers.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Cataloguing your weaknesses," Sasuke replied honestly. "I think that the three of us together could take you."
Naruto heaved a dramatic sigh, even as Yamato blanched. The blond scratched his head. "And that would leave the three of us wandering alone into enemy territory to confront Akatsuki," he mused.
From their swift coordination, it was clear that this wasn't the first time the teens had thought about this topic. Oddly, he felt a little insulted that they obviously thought he was the weak link. He was probably stronger than Genma. Just because he didn't push his weight around… well, it didn't mean anything, that was all.
"Don't worry," Karin said lightly, digging her toe into the mud. "We won't be alone, per se. We have the advantage of numbers. My summons found the other teams days ago. As soon as I get a few miles into Ame and can sense Akatsuki, I can start telling people where to go."
Naruto snickered, though Yamato was too stiff to get what was funny about that.
"It almost seems like it would be wiser for you to just give in and escort us," Karin added, blinking red eyes up at him. Her voice was almost saccharine sweet.
Yamato swallowed. His mouth was dry. Had it been dry a moment ago?
'They might be right. I don't know that I can defeat all three of them without hurting them. And if they fight me, all of us will be weakened. And if they are so determined to go into Ame, they can't afford to be vulnerable.'
"Of course, would it be more embarrassing to lose control of your charges or to defer to them?" Sasuke pretended to wonder aloud. "Either way, Kakashi is going to be very disappointed in you, Yamato." He tsked and shook his head pityingly. The unkind little smile on his face conveyed a different message.
A shiver went up Yamato's spine, and he swallowed uneasily. "You wouldn't," he tried to sound confident.
He didn't care about being embarrassed. But he would be failing in his assigned duty either way. It was more important to try to keep the ungrateful brats safe than it was to insist on keeping them in place. If he tried and failed to keep them from leaving, they would be nearly defenseless.
Identical catlike smiles crawled across all three faces in front of him. Inanely, he wondered if the Uchiha were related to the Uzumaki in some way, because there was a definite similarity there.
They would.
He took a deep breath and steeled himself. "I can't let you three go into Ame. We were posted here for a reason."
The teenagers could have at least pretended to feel a little trepidation. Sasuke gave a deep sigh and cocked a hip. "That's not the smart reaction," he said levelly, "But it's the one I can respect you for."
"We're still going to beat you up!" Naruto chirped, sliding his feet apart and taking an athletic stance.
Yamato clapped his hands together with enough force to jar the muscles in his elbows, already flooding his fingers with chakra. The green spark lit up instantly. He transformed it into raw material for his ninjutsu and sent an enormous shoot of barkless wood spiraling rapidly at Karin, who stood in between her taller peers. Sasuke leapt in front of her and back-handed the wood course.
Perfect. Yamato repressed a smile at that instant. If he had tried to send such an obviously curved branch with dozens of sprouted limbs ready to be grown around them, they would have dodged. But they didn't, and none of them were looking at the wood. They really didn't expect much out of him, did they?
The long branch hit the ground, scraping a long line in the dirt. Twenty-four branches were already swelling and bursting out in an arc that curved over the three teens. He broke his connection to it and dashed forward.
Kids were so arrogant. They were powerful, but they weren't fast enough to play with S class opponents. He had been right to stop them. Sasuke's eyes were red and wide in a way that proved he saw what was going on, although he couldn't react to it in time. Naruto at the back had no chance to push his way forward to escape the cage that was closing around his back. Sasuke's muscles tensed—he saw the trap, and he was the only one with a chance to push his way out, since he'd blocked off Karin.
Which was why Yamato met him as he leapt forward, Karin jerking into motion behind Sasuke. The older man felt a bit of grim amusement when he kicked Sasuke in the ribs, abruptly halting his forward motion and sending him tumbling back into Karin as the cage closed.
Yamato kicked off of the outside of the wooden cage and flipped backwards, landing catlike. He grinned at the cranky and trapped teens. "That cage can hold a bijuu," he pointed out. "So don't bother-"
Crack.
The grin slid off his face. "Seriously, stop." He scowled at Sasuke, whose fist was still knuckle deep in wood. "You can't-"
Crack crack.
"Or just ignore me," Yamato mumbled, locking his fingers behind his head and turning around to hide the put-out look on his face. He whirled around again at the sound of a sickening crunch. "Oh for kami's sake," he snapped, before he registered the dumb-founded look on Sasuke's face.
"Cool," Naruto breathed.
'It is pretty cool,' Yamato thought hysterically, in the instant before the coils of glowing chains leaking out of Karin's back shattered his prison like it had been constructed from paste and toothpicks. They were a minty green he had thought only belonged to medical chakra. More importantly, they were –
"Enormous," Sasuke noted, sounding genuinely impressed. Splinters fell for a good twenty feet in every direction. They'd barely settled when Karin blinked.
"Huh." She put a hand to her hip and twisted to see the point where the chains emerged from the base of her spine. "That's interesting. I just wanted to be able to break the prison." Her lips pursed contemplatively, but the expression failed to disguise the glee at just how much destruction she'd caused.
"Those are a lot better than Aiko's," Naruto pointed out, reaching to catch a bit of debris and roll it thoughtfully between his fingers.
"Not better, different," Sasuke disagreed. "Congratulations on activating your bloodline, Karin, but I wouldn't try to use them the way Aiko does. Unless you want to pulp whoever you're trying to restrain, in any case."
Yamato silently disagreed. They were a good four times thicker than Aiko's chains, and considerably longer. They were also originating from a much lower point on the user's back. Karin didn't seem to be able to maneuver them by wrapping them around her arms like Aiko did- did that make them less precise, or just different?
Either way… That meant he couldn't keep them locked up, and the only way he could keep them in place would be to physically beat them all into unconsciousness. Yamato slumped. He couldn't do that, not if they had any teamwork at all. And he already knew that Naruto and Sasuke had acceptable teamwork.
Naruto snickered. "Ne, that makes me the only one without a bloodline limit," he playfully whined while Karin played around with her new toy. Sasuke elbowed him absentmindedly before picking his way out of the debris field.
"Well, captain," Sasuke breathed sarcastically. Yamato momentarily wished for a chance to slap the smirk off his face. "What are you going to do now?"
What indeed.
Meekly, he followed the teenagers into Ame, intentionally leaving an obvious trail for Kakashi and Genma to follow. He hated his life sometimes.

A/N: Oookieee, so I decided to start writing a new fic bc I have great ideas for a story line. Yet I can’t bring myself I writing an actual beginning. Like I’ve already written some random chapters, but I can’t do anything with them because they don’t really make much sense without the context of the rest of the fic/my ideas. Like this chapters is where the romance/actual x reader gets into actual action. Hopefully you get the gist of what the plot is, and aren’t confused as hell from this part. Sorry if it’s a bit long, it’s around 4.8k-ish words. Enjoy 💜

Hatake Kakashi wasn't one to celebrate his birthday.
He simply thought that they were foolish excuses to let loose and party. To Kakashi, birthdays were no reason to be happy and celebrate. They were just reminders of how long he had endured the pain of living. Each year marked another without the people he once held close in his heart. His father, his sensei, his teammates, and (y/n)...
The day that (y/n) gone on that horrible mission was his special day. The mission he was supposed to go on, but (y/n) filled in for because she wanted him to go celebrate with Gai and the others. So much for having the day of joy...Kakashi thought to himself mournfully.
With a great sigh, he grabbed the last of his belonging, shoving them in his mission pack. He'd promised to take his students out of a group mission for the day, but it had been mostly for selfish reasons. Kakashi had hoped that this would take his mind off of the weight in his soul, yet knowing that his efforts would be futile. The loss would never leave him, it would always follow him like a darned shadow. It would forever haunt him. There was not letting go of the horrors of his past.
Slowly, Kakashi strolled to the gates of Konoha to meet his kids, shoving his hands in his pockets as he mumbled a little tune under his breath. The dark cloudy sky and drizzling rain seemed to mirror how he felt inside.
Drip, drop. Drop, drop. Drop, drop.
Each raindrop fell upon the dirt paths of the town, dampening Kakashi's Jonin uniform. If only he'd gone on that mission, if only he hadn't let (y/n) take his place. If only so many things that happened hadn't. If only he felt whole again. He could feel the heavyweight of guilt on his shoulders, spreading pain throughout his body. Sure, Team 7 filled the void, but they could only do so much. If there is one thing I wish for, it is that these kids will grow up to be happy.
A soft smile played upon Kakashi's face as he approached the three teens. "KAKASHI-SENSEI!" His hyperactive blonde student, Uzumaki Naruto, yelled at him, "YOU'RE LATE-TTEBAYO!" He raised his fist in anger. Sakura glared at both Kakashi and Naruto, slapping the boy's back to calm him down. Off to the side stood Sasuke, his hands in his pockets as he briefly kicked the dirt and pebbles around him to form his clan's symbol. "Usuratonkachi," he grumbled at the group. To be honest, Kakashi did feel a little guilty about keeping the kids waiting for him. They were being held back just because he was wallowing in self-pity. And Kakashi felt ashamed of that; ordering his mind to push his thoughts further to the back of his mind.
Kotetsu and Izumo, guards of the gates, turned to the team and smiled in greeting. "The gate opening mechanism is broken, so we have to manually open the gates," they explained. "Heading out yet again, eh?" Kotetsu chuckled. "I thought you lot just came back from a mission. Ya leaving so soon?" Izumo asked. Naruto pumped his hand into the air, "Yeah! Dattebayo! It's only a C rank, but it'll be fun-ttebayo!"
He's a lot like you, eh Obito, Kakashi's mind wandered as he looked up at the clouded sky, a drop of rain fell upon his nose and slid down his mask. If only you, Minato-sensei, and Rin were here to see us in action. You would be proud.
But what about (y/n)? Part of Kakashi was surprised that he didn't think of her immediately. Did he still believe that she could've been alive? After the Hokage had told him that he'd lost contact with (y/n), Kakashi didn't know what to think. It had been 3,650 days since she left. 3,589 since she was supposed to come back. And 3,529 days since they fully lost contact. What were the chances she'd come back, alive or injured? Kakashi wanted to believe that she was still alive. Was that realistic?
"She's gone, Kakashi! You need to understand that!" He flashed back to when Asuma, Gai, and Kurenai had tried to slap some sense into him. Well actually, Kurenai had slapped him. "Kakashi-sensei?" Sakura gently tugged his sleeve, straining her arm up so her red umbrella would also cover his head. "Are you okay? You've been spacing out a lot lately." She whispered as she looked up at him.
"I'm fine, Rin," Kakashi weakly smiled, "It's nothing that you should worry about." Sakura flashed him a questioning look, "Rin?" Sucking the air, Kakashi's whole body tensed up, "Sorry." He looked away, turning his attention to the bickering Sasuke and Naruto. "Just a little mix-up, Sakura." He put on a fake smile, breaking up the boy's fight. "Let's go, shall we?"
"Alright! Shanaroo!"
"Dattebayo!"
Kotetsu and Izumo went to open the gates but stopped to exchange worrisome glances. "Someone just knocked from the other side of the gates. Which is weird because our list says that we shouldn't be expecting anybody." Izumo knit his eyebrows together. Kotetsu, who had been looking through a glass which allowed him to see the incomer, hastily urging Izumo to help him. "ANBU!" He had barked at his partner, "Bleeding! Dying, wounds, whatever! They need medical attention!" That had caught Kakashi's attention, he got ready to act as the guards opened up the gates, heaving on the rusted hinges. Yet he was not mentally prepared for what awaited on the other side of the grand doors.
There she stood. Uniform torn, stained and ripped up. The wakizashi sword that was strapped to her hip was blunt and scratched, the sheath dented. Skin scratched and bruised, wounds dripping with blood and gore. A long x shaped cut on the inner side of her left thigh. Gasping and choking for air, she started to wobble, blood dribbling down her limbs and stomach. The rain continued to fall, now hard and heavy; burning and searing the wounds of the lady. Yet she still managed to keep her face from wavering In an instant, Kakashi recognized who the woman was based on her cracked porcelain ANBU mask. (y/n).... "Sakura! Go alert the hospital. And you two boys, clear the way for Sakura so she can get there. Quickly!" Kakashi ordered them as he took the heavily wounded woman in his arms. Anger and fear coursed through Kakashi's veins as his heart thumped erratically. He could feel (y/n)'s body twitch in pain. "Izumo, go let Hokage-sama know that Ibara-hime has returned." Kakashi let out one last demand before zipping off to follow his kids.
"Kakashi..." (y/n) mumbled out his name, "Kakashi..." she shakily rose her hands up to gently cup his masked cheeks. "What is it?" He whispered, gently rubbing her skin through a torn patch of her ripped uniform. "Happy birthday, Hatake..." She softly breathed, her tight grip of Kakashi's chest loosened as her eyes dropped closed. Please don't die, (y/n)... I've waited all the fucking years. You aren't leaving me again. A tear formed in Kakashi's eye, flying off with the rain as he bolted towards the hospital. Stay with me a bit longer, will you?
"My sensei will be here any second with an ANBU woman in need of immediate medical attention!" Kakashi heard Sakura's voice quiver as he barged into the hospital. "I'm here, kids. Go to Gai-sensei and stay with him until I'm back." He quickly barked, flashing all of the nurses who flowed into the room a nervous look. "Please, help her. I'm begging you." He pleaded with the staff uncharacteristically. I need her to live. Need. "We do what we can, sir." One of the medic-nin nodded, putting (y/n)'s unconscious body onto the stretcher. If (y/n) lives, that would be the best birthday gift ever.
Kakashi jogged after the nurses and doctors, peering into the emergency clinic room through the window. "I'm sorry, Sir, but you won't be able to visit the lady until all the major injuries have been cleaned up and treated." A male nurse out his hand in his shoulder from behind. "But..! Okay..." Kakashi let out a sigh, "Isn't there any paperwork that needs to be filled out?"
The nurse shook his head, "The Hokage has come and is speaking to one of my colleagues about it. Don't worry about it. You won't have to take care of any of that." He tried to reassure the angsty shinobi, "The woman is part of the ANBU ranks, right? Her mask is of the uniform." Kakashi nodded his head, biting his lip inside of his mask, "Yeah...she is... but it's kinda complicated." The nurse raised his eyebrow but just shrugged. "Can I speak with the Hokage?" The Hatake requested. "Come this way," the other man sighed, leading him away.
Tumblr media
Kakashi let out a deep and long sigh as he held (y/n)'s scraped hand in his gloved ones. He had been told by the same nurse from before that (y/n) was in a decent state to accept visitors, yet was still unconscious. He could tell that the nurse was hiding something from him, but he was too worried about (y/n) to give it a second thought. Hesitantly, he brought her hand to his masked lips, gently pressing them against the fabric. "Ya know, (y/n). After you left, I decided to give those goddamn books a try. And you're right, they are addictive. Thanks for the gift," Kakashi sadly chuckled before pausing for a moment.
"Those books, they helped me a lot. They helped me get through my days, just like you told me."
"They also helped me realize something. They helped me realize that I don't hate you. I don't want to hate, and I never should've."
"I've realized that I was such a dick to you at the beginning and that it was all my fault that our relationship became how it was. I regret it... So when you wake up again, I just want to start over again. Maybe not entirely, but just so that we can leave all the hate behind us. How does that sound?"
Kakashi stared at the sleeping (y/n), her chest heaving up and how slowly and rhythmically. It hurt him to see her like that, her skin swollen in the places of the stitches and anointed bruises. "Listen, (y/n). I'd never been able to tell this to you while you're conscious, so I might as well let it out now. I...I love you." Kakashi rightly shut his uncovered eye. "After feeling your loss, my dumbass self finally realized how much you are worth. After they pass on, you and the others were all I had left. But then you also left me, that hurt like hell." His tone started to break.
"Lord Hokage told me about the whole fake-death move, and I was relieved that you weren't gone for good. And then we lost contact, everybody assumed the mission had been finished, and your squad sacrificed your lives for it. I couldn't let the fact that you could be a dead sink in. It didn't feel right. Gai, Asuma, and Kurenai tried to get me out of another depression cycle. Kurenai even went to the lengths of quite literally slapping some sense into me." Kakashi played with a loose strand of (y/n)'s (h/c) hair.
Tumblr media
The muscles of (y/n)'s hand twitched ever so slightly. Kakashi's drooping head snapped up; he'd almost fallen asleep in the chair. "(y/n)?" He murmured as her eyes started to flutter, "(y/n)?"
(y/n) chapped lip parted ever so slowly, taking a big breath of air, her (e/c) eyes squinting. "Hatake..?" She shakily managed to mumbled, her voice hoarse and dry. She tried to prop herself up on the bed, but Kakashi eased her back into her resting position. "Rest, (y/n), you're not ready to stress yourself yet." Kakashi to her, "I'll be back with a nurse and some water for you, alright?" (y/n) opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. She simply looked down and nodded.
Moments later, Kakashi came back with the nurse and water. "Here," he carefully put the cup to her lip, gently tipping the cup, "Good." He turned to the nurse, who seemed to be scribbling something down from the little monitor to his clipboard. Kakashi's eyes followed the cord attached to it, to the long x shaped hash in (y/n)'s inner left thigh. What worried Kakashi was the anxious look on the nurse's face.
"(l/n)-san, your vitals are doing alright, but you'll have to stay here for a night or two just so that we can keep an eye on something's that may need monitoring." He curtly nodded his head, "Lord Hokage wished to speak to you. So, sir, that means you may have to leave."
Kakashi tried to reason with the other man, but (y/n) reached to weakly squeeze his thigh. "It's okay, Hatake. You can just drop by later." (y/n) tried to smile. "Fine," Kakashi grumbled, leaving the room and letting Hiruzen in.
Tumblr media
After what seemed like an eternity, Hiruzen came back out. "How's (y/n)?" Kakashi asked him impatiently. The Hokage put his hand on Kakashi's shoulder as if trying to soothe him, "She'll be better soon. Don't worry, alright." The silver-haired shinobi let out a small grunt, "I know that she'll get better with time. But what about now?"
Kakashi knew that Hiruzen loved (y/n) almost like a daughter, he cared about her deeply. Hence the elaborate cover-ups to protect (y/n) and her squad on the unconventionally lengthy mission. The Hatake could see the sadness that had tried to be tucked away in the Sarutobi's eyes. "The main concern of the moment is the poison in the gash on her left thigh. The medic-nins have tried to extract as much of it as possible, and try to find something that will counteract the effects." The elderly man explained to him. "Did they find an antidote?" Kakashi questioned.
"That is where the problem lies," Hiruzen explained, "There is a certain medicinal herb that is used alongside a jutsu to nullify the effects, as the poison has traces of chakra. We have a few medics on hand who support the skill to perform the jutsu, but we don't have the plant. Even so, that won't be a permanent cure." Kakashi knit his eyebrows together, "How would it not be a perfect cure? Plus, since there are traces of chakra, could we possibly track down the person who created the poison and make them fess up on the cure?" He questioned.
"Great thinking, but..." Hiruzen groaned, "(y/n) said that they performed a self-destruction jutsu just after striking her. He probably thought that it would be in their best interest to take their secrets to the grave with them." Kakashi cursed under his breath, "Fuck... This is terrible."
Hiruzen nodded in agreement, "No duh."
Kakashi's head shot up, "Uh?!"
The elder man's eyes widened, "Did I use the term correctly?! I'm trying to pick up on the phrases the kids are using these days..."
Kakashi gritted his teeth, "Right idea of the meaning, I guess. But the context and timing...wasn't quite fit." Looking ever so slightly dejected, "Oh...alright." Smoothening out the wrinkles in his robe and putting in his cob pipe, "Kakashi, if you are going to stay here with (y/n), could you at least pick up some good food. The food in the hospital canteen is quite bland." Kakashi nodded his head and obliged, only to be stopped in his tracks by Hiruzen.
"Kakashi, I'd like to ask you something?"
"What is it?"
"What caused your change in actions towards (y/n) change so much?"
"What do you mean?"
"I've observed you two whilst you were in the ANBU together, and you never got along that well. And suddenly you act so attached to her, Kakashi. You don't need to answer. It's just that as your leader, I want to understand what is going on in the heads of some of my most trusted people." Hiruzen explained to Kakashi, puffing out a cloud of smoke from his cob pipe.
Kakashi frowned from behind his mask, trying to figure out how to explain his change of feelings in a professional manner. "I think that after I was given the impression that she was gone, I noticed that I cared about her. It made me realize that I was wrong to not see how much she meant in my life." He tried, his voice fading off into a whisper. Hiruzen smiled and nodded, "You really are something else, Kakashi."
Tumblr media
Kakashi silently strolled over to Ichiraku's to grab some takeout. The paper lanterns lit the nearly empty streets of Konoha, creating a soft and soothing ambiance. The smell of the rain and moisture still clung to the air, the dirt roads had muddy dampness to them. "Yo! Kakashi, my eternal rival!" A boisterous and friendly voice greeted the said man. "Hey, Gai," Kakashi responded, he noticed his students sitting alongside each other and gave them a quick wave and smile. Naruto and Lee were arguing about who'd get Sakura. Sakura insisted that Sasuke would come around in her favor. Sasuke was quietly eating his food. And Neji and Tenten were discussing a new sword they saw in the windowsill of a weaponry shop.
"I'll take two eggplant miso soups with brown rice noodles," Kakashi leaned over the counter space between Lee and Naruto to order his meal, also effectively stopping the argument. "Thanks, Ayame," he thanked the daughter of Teuchi, owner of the quaint place. "No problem, Kakashi-san!" She chirped.
"Kakashi?" Gai raised his brushy brow, "Your kids told me about what happened this morning..." Kakashi sighed and pulled him aside so that they were at a comfortable distance, "It was (y/n)..." he told his best friend, "She's back and in the hospital because she's not in good health at the moment. I just came here to pick up a meal for her." Kakashi watched as Gai's jaw dropped, "(Y/N) IS ALIVE!" He exclaimed a touch too loud for his eternal rival's taste, "CAN I MEET HER?!" Tears of youthful joy waterfalled down the jumpsuit-clad man's cheeks. "I'll see if you can come tomorrow, alright Gai." Gai smiled broadly, "This is very...unusual. Youthful, nonetheless!" He grinned.
Kakashi rubbed the back of his head and nodded, "I'm glad she's back..." he murmured barely loud enough for Gai to hear. Knowingly, Gai patted Kakashi's back. "Oh! Yeah! Happy birthday, my youthful rival!" He gently punched his comrade's shoulder. A smile formed on Kakashi's lips, "Thanks, Gai." He flashed his eccentric friend his signature close-eyed smile.
"I'll see you later."
"Bye, Kakashi! Have a good night!"
Tumblr media
Knock knock, Kakashi rapt (y/n)'s door, "Can I come in?"
"Come in," (y/n) murmured, a small moan of pain escaping her lips, "Ouch..."
Kakashi quickly set the takeout on a little table, rushing to (y/n)'s side. He wrapped his arm tightly around her waist and helped her to the table. "I got us dinner because the food at the canteen isn't that good." He explained with a slight shrug. "Thanks, Hatake," a weak smile formed on her lips. The silvered-haired Jonin served them their meals. "Itadakimasu," they both mumbled.
Heavy tension filled the room as they ate in silence. (y/n) knew that Kakashi had his mask down, but didn't look up. "It's been a while..." Kakashi breathed, in hopes of hearing (y/n) speak, "Too long..." The kunoichi rested her forehead on her palm, "I- Yeah..." she mumbled, eyes growing classier by the second. So much for trying to start a conversation... Kakashi thought sadly as they resumed their meals without a word. The silence seemed to be killed him. Kami, it had been 10 goddamn years! 3650 days since he had gotten to talk to the woman. He missed her. Hell, he could even say that he missed all of their little spats. Hatake Kakashi missed everything about (y/n).
"I missed you..." was all Kakashi mumbled as he pushed his finished food away and pulled up his mask, "All these days, months, and years."
Hot tears slipped down (y/n)'s cheeks, forming a puddle on the table. "I-I came back be-because I didn't want-want to hurt you and the r-rest. Dying on passed down pain to the people who love you. I can't afford to c-carry the guilt of t-that." She mumbled shakily, "I promised to be back, a-and I held up the promise." Kakashi sadly smiled as he awkwardly reached under the table to gently caress (y/n)'s thigh.
"You care about others so much, but you should really take a moment to care about yourself, (y/n)." Kakashi scolded the injured kunoichi, "You had me scared for you; all those gashes and open wounds... You could've died," he knit his eyebrows together in worry. "Don't do that ever again."
(y/n)'s dull smile faltered as Kakashi spoke on, "Now you know how I felt when I saw you doing all those suicidal stunts back then on those missions. It was like you were in a hurry to die... I mean, I was too, but you did some seriously dumb shit," she giggled emptily. Kakashi sweat-dropped, "I see... I guess you are right..." (y/n) rolled her (e/c) eyes as the masked shinobi let out a drained sigh, "I'm always right, Hatake."
"Really, (l/n)? You've been through torturous pain, and you still act like a child." Kakashi groaned, "All these years..." (y/n) shot him a hard glare, "All these years and you still think you're in charge of me." He cast a confused look, "It's my duty to protect you, as a comrade." As a comrade... "I guess, but you're just annoying, Hatake," she huffed.
Tumblr media
"I'm sorry about ruining your birthday with my arrival and stuff. I probably ruined your plans with those kids." (y/n) looked down, breaking the silence that had fallen upon them, "I could hear you guys through the gate; they seemed pumped about going out. I'm sorry, I didn't think about the flaws in my whole plan." Kakashi's head snapped up from its resting position on the table, "It's fine, they don't even know it's my birthday," he paused, "But you planned to come here? As in, today in particular. With all those injuries, (l/n), you should've just tried to take care of yourself. My birthday isn't as important as your health."
The (y/n) shook her head, "I was going to stay at a small village pretty far from here before finally coming home. I planned to just heal up there and see how things went from there. I even considered settling down there. But that just didn't feel right," (y/n) face set in a frown, "Once I realized that your birthday wasn't that far off, I decided that I couldn't stay and needed to come back. I doubted I would even live to be back. But here I am..." she said with a soft wince of pain. "It was terrible, I hated every second of it," Her (s/t) fingers made their way to the raw mark on her inner thigh, “I’d already lost so much; there was nothing for me to lose at that point.” Kakashi's face softened as he understood what she meant. (y/n) wasn't put in the mission alone, she had her team. They all must've been killed with time.
"Ouch!" (y/n) yelped as she let out a moan of pain, clenching the fabric of her hospital-issued pajama pants. “Shh..." Kakashi whispered into her ear, quickly leaning in to soothe her, "What's causing all this pain?" He asked with a frown as (y/n) bit her lip. "It's the thing in your thigh, right? Lord Hokage and the nurse told me a bit about it. But I still don't fully understand it and how it can't fully be cured."
(y/n) buried her face in her hands, "Oh..." She mumbled, "The poison can't de be removed because it's already been inside of me too long. And since it is laced with chakra, the properties of it aren't completely like normal poison." She blinked back the stinging agonizing tears in her eyes, "The herb that I need is just going to ease the effects in my body, whilst the jutsu will seal it from triggering anything that was layered in with the chakra." (y/n) explained. Kakashi could tell she was trying her hardest to keep her face straight, pushing back the pain and hurting inside. "The thing is–"
"What?" Kakashi asked the pained woman, his tone soft and soothing, "I can help if I know what's going on."
Warily, (y/n) agreed to speak on, "The place where the mission was stationed at was just underground of the nuke-nin outpost I was from. And the guy who poisonous me was one of the other kids' experiments were done on, along with me. He was a few years older than us, and his name was Hiroto Myoga. His parents were in owed debt to the rogues, they were forced into being test subjects until they died. Which left Hiroto in the nuke-nin's hands." She rubbed the temple of her head pushing away the images that sent a shiver down her spine, "Something similar had happened in the case of my parents and me. But unlike me, when the ANBU did the raid, Hiroto was snuck away just in time."
Kakashi's heart sank as he heard what she was telling him. (y/n) had never known much about her past, the damned curse seal had caused. “Since he was older than most of the other kids there, the nuke-nin's of the outpost decided that they needed to trust their information. It was all precautionary, just in case they were taken down. And that's just what happened. Hiroto was the one ordered to put memory restriction curse seals on us, the kids, before he fled to be underground, where the actual harm was being done. That meant that all this time Hiroto had been working in those old plans." (y/n) closed her eyes tightly, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.
With a subtle groan, Kakashi supported (y/n) up from the chair and rested her in her cot. "Don't stress yourself, (y/n). You can just tell me later; it's getting late anyway." He told her. "It's fine, Hatake. Letting this out helps me feel better." She reassured him.
"The ANBU caught wind of suspicious activity in that area and decided to send out a squad to go check out. I overheard Danzō arguing with Lord Hokage about it, and got interested. It was really dumb, but I just wanted to go to learn more about what happened in my past. I learned, but that can with lots of twists and turns. 10 years of going undercover..." (y/n)'s (e/c) eyes met Kakashi's single uncovered black one, "It wasn't long before Hiroto became suspicious of us, slowly narrowing the group down till it was just me." (y/n) took a deep breath and continued, "After Hiroto killed himself in our final fight, my curse seal was lifted. That's how I suddenly was able to remember all of the past. All of it."
A pit formed in Kakashi's stomach as he watched (y/n) cry in silence. He wanted to help her feel better, he really did. But he was afraid that he'd make things worse; dealing with feelings just wasn't his thing. "I'm here for you, (l/n). We've been through so much together, you've helped me through it all," Kakashi tried to reassure her, "It's my turn to look after you. Please, just don't cry." He reached out his hand to brush a tear-off of her streaked cheeks.
Tumblr media
“Are you okay with me staying here for the night?" Kakashi asked (y/n) as they sat at the bay window, looking down upon the empty moonlit streets of Konoha. The soft light cast down by the moon seemed to make everything look beautiful, serene, and at peace. "(l/n)?" He asked again, turning to look back at her. A gentle smile played on Kakashi's lips as he saw that she'd fallen asleep. (y/n) had been through so much throughout the day, she not only deserved to rest for a long time but also needed to. "Good night, (y/n)..." he carefully lifted the sleeping beauty and placed her on the cot. Sitting back at the bay seat, Kakashi took in a deep breath. "I love you."
She's finally back.
She's finally home.

moments from the village
pairing: yamato x reader
a/n: hmm, kind of free form... like it’s a reader insert but there’s bits filled in that are just generic to the idea of a character. Also the first thing I’ve written in like a thousand years..
synopsis: a few tender moments, scenes from your relationship with Yamato
warnings: nsfw content for the last few: general sex, fingering, oral, rough sex.
1. Yamato drinks genmaicha tea almost exclusively. The first thing he does when he comes home is make a steaming pot, and sit the well-worn armchair that occupies the corner of your living room and sips it slowly. He loves the nutty taste of toasted rice against the grassy earthy taste of the green tea. When it’s hot, you make him genmaicha lattes. Over brewing the tea and mixing it with brown rice syrup to sweeten it. You serve the drink over ice.
2. Yamato’s favourite desert is matcha cake. You roll a thin, rectangle of bright green sponge cake with lashings of sweetened whipped cream in the middle, slicing thick chunks and topping them with the first of the season’s strawberries. You meet him at the banks of the Naka river with the slices stored safely in a bag. You both kick of your shinobi sandals, tossing them behind you and dipping your toes into the cold water. You can’t think of anything more Yamato than the mixture of earthiness and sweetness.
3. For Yamato days off are reserved for reading architecture books. Yamato pours over each book in his collection, absorbing all the knowledge he can. His current obsession is shoin-zukuri. For his birthday, you buy him an expensive architecture model kit. He painstakingly completes it, gluing the delicate wooden pieces together over the next few nights. The model of the local temple lives on your shelving unit in the living room, sitting proudly next to the string-of-pearls you’d purchased from the Yamanaka’s flower store the day you moved in.
4. You always thought you disliked Kakashi Hatake. You’d never really spent much time with him, never been on missions together, and didn’t really understand who thought it was a good idea to place him in charge of a team of rookies. The dislike deepened once you and Yamato began dating; the constant stories of his teasing and cajoling your boyfriend bothered you. The first time you met properly, that all changed. Drinking beers and sharing steamed and salted edamame, you found yourself thinking that Kakashi had a wicked sense of humour, and silently thanked him for giving you new ammunition to rile Yamato up with. Yamato loves your friendship, but hates being the subject of your evenings jokes. You and the copy-nin become quite the double act and it makes Yamato’s heart soar.
5. The first time you meet Team 7, Yamato is overwhelmed - trying to keep the three teens in check, dodging their constant questions, the fighting, and the vying for your attention; the whole situation is an unmitigated disaster. You and Kakashi stay on your best behaviour, but share a look that screams - Can we please just get a beer after this? You both do this every day?! - You send an apologetic look in Yamato’s direction, you hadn’t thought that stopping to say hello as you passed them coming from the training grounds would cause such a commotion. Later, as you walk home from the bar you tell Yamato that you enjoyed the impromptu meeting in the end, that they’re his little family now, and how the whole thing had reminded you of when you were younger and you and your cousins would fight endlessly over any trivial thing. Yamato had never though this what having a family would be like, and he wonders to himself when those kids became so so important to him; deep in the pit of his stomach, he feels the ache of worry grow as he wishes that nothing tragic would happen to them.
6. Whenever Yamato catches you laughing with Genma his chest constricts. You laugh heartily at the tokubetsu jounin’s terrible jokes and, as always, engage in the friendly flirting that characterises your friendship. Yamato knows you’ve know each other for years, that there’s nothing more there than two comfortable friends. The part of him that recedes back into ROOT in times of panic tells him that you’d be better off with a man who’s name refers to natural alluring and dazzling lights. Genma asks you how things are with Yamato if you’re off the market for good? He wiggles his eyebrows suggestively and glances over your shoulder. You follow his gaze, eyes landing on Yamato - who seems to have glazed over during a conversation with Ebisu. You look at your boyfriend and smile, catching his eye and whispering to Genma - oh yeah, this one’s a keeper. In the dead of the night, Yamato asks if he makes you happy and you tell him your world is full of harmony now. That you feel serene. Yamato’s heart feels as though it could burst from his chest.
7. Yamato has a bad habit of shouting at you when you hurt yourself absentmindedly. The first time it happens you’re not paying attention when slicing green onions for dinner. He snaps at you to run it under the cold tap and gets the small first aid box you keep in the kitchen. You snap back at him at first, you’re a kunoichi, you know what you’re doing with knives, this isn’t even serious, why are you being like this? Over time you realise it’s because he feels helpless when you injure yourself at home, it’s different to missions - home is where you’re safe. You stop snapping back, and he continues to treat your small cuts with disinfectant wipes and plasters. Sometimes you forget they’re there and feel a blush rising when Iruka mentions it when you pick up your assignments at the mission desk.
8. Yamato is old fashioned. He learnt so much of how to treat a partner from hearing what the older married ANBU used to talk about. He pours your drinks, pay for meals, offers you an arm to link when you walk, and kisses you chastely when in public. This has earned him a reputation for being shy, you know he is anything but.
9. You both spend your free time pouring over recipe books and buying second-hand cookbooks when you have downtime after long missions both in Konoha and other villages. You cook as much as you can and prepare meals together. The first time Team 7 comes to your tiny apartment, Sai and Sakura watch you both laugh and talk about anything and everything as you prepare a meal for everyone; soy milk ramen. You both drink wine and chop and stir and forget you even have guests, it’s only Naruto’s hungry grumbling that snaps you back into reality
10. You introduce him to your grandmother - the only living relative you have now - she tells him that he’s very handsome and he blushes all the way to the tips of his ears. Later she asks what he does and he tells her that he’s a jounin sensei. She eyes him with suspicion, making an off-handed comment about how in her day jounin sensei’s didn’t carry themselves so seriously, have such an intimidating posture or analyse every exit and escape route when they came for tea with old ladies. Later she corners you in the kitchen as you prepare desert, and she asks you what he really does, you whisper ANBU in her ear and she tells him over matcha cake that she’s glad you’ve found someone who will always protect you. Sometimes they play cards when you’re out of the village on missions, your grandmother chain smokes cigarettes and tells Yamato of the fights she had when she was an active kunoichi. Yamato knows she would kill him if he ever hurt you. He knows it would never come to that but loves the fire and passion running through her and how it’s been passed on to you. When she starts to forget herself, and slowly you, Yamato holds your hand in her tiny kitchen as tears roll down your face. In the night he weeps silently for her too. When she dies, she leaves all her ninja tools to Yamato, and her old engagement ring.
11. When you have sex, he sits cross-legged, your tights draped over his and your feet nestled into his hip creases. You lay the rest of yourself flat against the large bed you share, and he gently coaxes you to orgasm. He spreads you apart, and uses his thumbs interchangeably to rub your clit; up and down, or in soft circles, different speeds, and pressures. Sometimes he slips a finger inside you, stretching you gently and curling up inside you to pull you closer and closer to the edge. He uses his forearms to keep your legs pushed apart as they draw closer and closer in as you feel yourself slowly tipping over the edge. After your orgasm, he spends time rubbing down your shaking thighs and placing delicate kisses on your legs. He never rushes you to move, he never takes his eyes from your flushed face.
12. When you fuck, your legs are over his shoulders and his hands pinch your nipples. He drives into you and moans loudly. It is fast, and deep, and hard.
13. Sometimes you convince him to put on his old ANBU uniform. When he fucks you like this, he stands behind you and knocks your legs wide. One hand keeping you stead as he pushes you forward ruthlessly with the force of his trusts, the other hand wraps around your neck. Your hand claws over his gloved wrist, pushing his hand into you as you revel in the feeling of Cat choking you.

Dear Creator
General Likes: Trans characters, queer themes, queer solidarity, character development, strong gen. relationships and interactions with characters outside of a relationship, dialogue-driven story, non-linear narrative, animals, angst, hurt/comfort, character introspection
DNW: underage, a/b/o, past S10 for SPN
Realm of the Elderlings
Well if this reads as though I haven't finished the books it's because I haven't, but I will have by reveals so don't worry about spoilers.
Fitz/Fool
1. Set in the Golden Fool Trilogy before the Fool being Amber and him being in love with Fitz is revealed they have the head out on a sea voyage for whatever reason. They come across the Paragon, Fitz freaks because why does that ship have my face and also it's ALIVE? The Fool has to then awkwardly explain what happened.
2. At the end of the Golden Fool Trilogy they venture back to the Fool's homeland together.
3. After the Red Ships are vanquished Fool seeks out Fitz. They travel the world together with Night Eyes.
Brashen/Althea
1. I would love a bit more detail about their life after their series! We see them with a kid in the Dragon series so I would adore a look into that family.
2. I would love to see how these guys relationship works with their families, does Brashen ever really speak to his family again? Does Malta have the Trell's over and Brashen and his family awkwardly sit at the table together.
3. Generic ship adventure! I would love to see these guys travelling around with the Paragon and what they get up to.
Supernatural
DNW: Anything past Season 10
Likes: boy king arc, Sam centric fic, queer Sam (I literally head canon him as anything with whatever pronouns), Bobby, trans Dean, religious iconography/themes, Sam being a lore nerd
Dislikes: Sidelining Sam 
Sam/Ruby
1. Ruby lives, I’d love to see how this plays out in Season Five. Whether she sticks with Lucifer or chooses Sam.
2. Sam goes dark side after freeing Lucifer
3. Earlier on Sam starts trusting her and fulfilling his role as the boy king. If this stops Dean from going to hell, changes the way the demons work etc
Sam/Jess or Sam/Jess & Dean
1. Jess lives au! My personal head canon is that Jess is pre-med and being very intent on saving people. When she finds out about hunting, she realises that she can’t just go back to being “normal” knowing people are dying. Maybe Sam decides to go back to law school and they have a semi long-distance relationship where she asks him for advice, maybe they hunt together every now and again. Maybe she joins Dean and Sam and they become a hunting trio.
2. Jess gets brought back to life – place this in any season you want! Go wild.
Dean & Sam
1. Dean keeps in touch with Sam during Stanford! Maybe from the get-go, maybe after a couple of years, maybe seeing each other, maybe just through postcards
2. I’d love to see them during S4 where their relationship starts to fall apart, but like also see them still loving each other
3. John gets a year to live instead of instantly going to hell AU – how do they react? Do they try to save him? Does John tell them?
4. I’d love a sort of non-linear story of them (especially Sam because it’s been so long) trying to integrate John into his adult life also looking at his life as a child/teen. You know the general angst about how he’d done it, he’d gotten away and he’s right back at square one. Also, Dean starting to realise that he isn’t a kid anymore, and he’s got his own thoughts etc
Sam
1. Licherally anything in the boy king arc! I’d love to see him fulfilling his role as the boy king. This stops Dean from going to hell, changes the way the demons work etc
2. His time at Stanford! I’d love to see him adjusting to his new life.
3. I would love to see a bit more of him in Season Four! How he feels about Dean being chosen by the angels, how this affects his view on religion, how he feels about himself and the demon. Blood etc
4. Just some introspection anytime in the series tbh, love to see this boy struggle with wanting to be good, with wanting to be normal, and then um not being those things
5. I’d love a sort of non-linear story of Sam trying to integrate John into his adult life also looking at his life as a child/teen. You know the general angst about how he’d done it, he’d gotten away and he’s right back at square one.
Final Fantasy XV
Likes: fics that include the whole gang, trans Gladio, anything with Prompto, angst about destiny, angst about royal linage, character introspection
Noctis/Prompto
1. I really like angsty fics about destiny with this lot - I would love to see how the way in which they’ve been raised effects their relationship, be it being groomed to be king or shield or advisor. I would love a getting together fic, with whichever ship you wish to write, with a lot of internal angst.
2. I would also love a post cannon fic where Noctis is alive (magic, never died, skip over it entirely it’s up to you) where they all settle down, maybe Noctis lets the world think he has died so he can live a peaceful life?
3. I would like to see a fic of Prompto integrating himself into Noctis’ life, Gladio and Ignis have been around his entire life, so how does Prompto feel about them? How do they feel about him? Honestly I’m 100% here for awkward insecure bby Prompto
4. Set between game cannon and Brotherhood, I‘d be down to see what these guys got up to in the years between high school and the road trip. Did Prompto and Noctis study after high school? Do they travel?
5. Less of a prompt and more a vague feeling but like *slaps prompto* this bad boy can fit so much angst in it. Honestly, he’s childhood is depressing af, with the lack of parents and friends combined with a shit body image/relationship with food I wld rlly love some emotional hurt/comfort with him and the squad
Naruto
Likes: the summons, Rock Lee, the squads and how they operate, Naruto getting to eat the ramen he deserves, Sakura being an actual bad arse fleshed out character, trans Naruto
Sasuke/Naruto
1. Naruto leaves and joins Sasuke on his mission to destroy to Leaf, talks him out of y’know murdering everyone but agrees that the Shinobi system is deeply fucked and needs to be fixed
2. I’d like a fic of Sasuke thinking about Naruto while doing all his plotting, be it set when he’s with Orochimaru or the Akatsuki, it would be nice to see him thinking about Naruto, wanting to stop doing so, wondering how strong he could have been if he had managed to kill him and gain the mangekyou earlier
Gai/Kakashi
1. I’d like a fic set just before Kakashi gets his genin, really love to see Gai trying to talk up how cool having a squad is! Dragging Kakashi to see his kids and being like aren’t my team great! And then Team Gai getting into some crazy hijinks that make Kakashi a lil scared about the future but also maybe a bit endeared towards them
2. a fic of Gai watching Kakashi slowly lose himself while in ANBU, of him trying to make things right and not being able to and then eventually asking him to be removed from the forces

To Die By Her Lips
Tumblr media
Prompt: Jutsu and Undercover | AO3 link here. Connect with me on Twitter. Happy SS Month everyone! 🌸🍅🥗 @ssskmonth
A/N: Only for teens and up! No explicit NSFW, but there are “building-up” scenes so please steer clear of this chapter if you’re uncomfortable. Thank you! I really listened to James Bond music just to get in the right headspace for this part, and my boyfriend pestered me why I was playing the OSTs. But hey, I know Skyfall and License to Kill!
“I have half of a mind to send you with Naruto, but he is literally getting married next month so that’s a no. I also asked Shizune but apparently Genma banned her from these kinds of missions even though they really haven’t confessed to each other yet so that leaves you…..and the one person I know you could do it with,” Kakashi, now the Lord Sixth, tells the pink-haired kunoichi over the mountains of paperwork in his desk.
Sakura crosses her arms in front of her chest and taps her foot impatiently. “You’re really pulling me in the middle of reorganization of field corps?”
Kakashi sighs dejectedly and gives her those tired eye smile that also meant take what you can and go. “Yes, think of it as your vacation. You never went home for over two months, Sakura.”
“But you’re sending me away?” she protests, but this falls on deaf ears. “Okay, what’s the mission?”
There’s a mischievous glint in her sensei’s eyes. “He will brief you in your apartment, but you will have to leave by dawn. Have a good trip and come back safe, you two.”
-------------------------
Oh. Sakura’s mouth opens wide at the sight of Sasuke cooking in her kitchen. She senses the group of anbu outside, still keeping him in check every time he comes back to the village.
He opens her refrigerator, and his face grimaces at the smell. “You should just turn this off.”
“Hey, I was busy,” Sakura tells him as she pouts. “I feel like I don’t deserve to be called out as a sloth when I’m working hard at the hospital.” She goes to his side and peeks over his shoulder. “I see we’re having ramen for dinner.”
Sasuke turns off the stove and wraps his lone arm around her waist. She smells her shampoo in his hair as he leans in and kisses her full on the mouth. “Thanks for the welcome gift.”
Sakura playfully pushes him away, taken aback by his boldness in a space full of anbu eyes, and her temper flares when he smirks at her embarrassed expression. “So what’s the mission about?”
“It requires your charm.”
-------------------------
Sucks to be kissed by him for practice. She is sulking, and her temper is foul, but strangers can hardly see this myriad of emotions on her face or on her body. She’s dressed in a bodycon outfit, sheer black with sprinkles of crystals, bare back, and a plunging neckline. Her hair has grown long just above her waist, but she tied it up earlier into a high knot bun, considering how Sasuke kept on twirling strands of her hair in his fingers. And as an afterthought, they dyed it temporarily with platinum blonde.
From what Sasuke told her as they cuddled on her single bed – god she should have bought a king-size – they were after a landlord and a rising tycoon. Ironically, he was both feudal landlord and a capitalist, and he planned to ship unapproved soldier pills to countries which Konoha have strained, if not severed, ties with. These were no ordinary soldier pills, these were designed to replicate a jinchuriki’s power enough to last a whole month. And a war in the middle of political transitions with thousands of ninjas of power levels similar to that of Naruto’s will be easy to win.
She feels the heat of Sasuke’s gaze behind the guise of the tipsy crowd, his onyx eyes following her every step and turn in the highest heels they could find when they arrived in this town, but he is to stay hidden at all times, never to intervene. He is there for backup, but there really is no need. She is chosen primarily for this mission because first and foremost, she is a woman, and being a woman has its tremendous advantage. Despite the fast changing world, there are still men who believe females are mere dolls, submissive, and open for taking. Second, she knows how to stop her chakra flow – just enough to confuse the guards and mercenaries scattered all over the bar. A recent self-learning of her, she also applied this jutsu to Sasuke, giving her another layer of protection if things go awry.
She spots their target – he is sitting alone in the couch on the center of the bar, a glass of scotch in his hand, the liquid swirling, and his eyes traveling across her body. If his eyes had tongue, Sakura would have cut it off the moment it attempted to lick. She sways towards him, getting a champagne flute from a passing waiter, and slides to his side, his arm quickly grabbing her shoulder.
“The fortune-teller was right,” the tycoon whispers against her exposed clavicle, and she smells the alcohol. “I am lucky tonight.”
She downs the champagne in one long drink. “Want to test your fortune?” Sakura isn’t the master of seduction in their small team. It’s actually Shizune, followed by Tsunade, and her. It isn’t something she wanted to learn as her heart had always been focused on one person.
“Hmm baby, you landed right beside me, I think my fortune is at its peak.” It doesn’t escape her that his hand already went to her side, near her buttocks, and he squeezes one of the cheeks.
A vein throbs on her temple, and she suppresses the urge to punch him in the face and send his decapitated head crashing through the walls. She edges closer to him and starts to unbutton his shirt. In a club filled with drug-induced people, no one will really give a bat at public fornication. She kisses the tycoon full on the mouth, just like what Sasuke taught her, and passes the poison she swallowed this morning. Her chakra control hidden under his machinations help ease out the liquid she froze in her bloodstream. Her capillaries feel the burn left by her own concoction, but she continues teasing his tongue with hers, so much so that he is left gasping and breathless.
She pulls away a second after his body combusts, and she stares with an amused expression as if she enjoys the sight of torture. Maybe she does. With their combined jutsu, everyone, including the stationed guards and assassins, sees both the target and his eye candy woman burst into ordinary red-orange flames, like how they would be if they were blazed with gasoline. But these were Amaterasu flames, unyielding, forever burning.
Sakura finds him waiting in the shadows with his hand already held out to hers, and she quickly takes it, feeling the exhilaration from a successful mission. They disappear into thin air without any trace, and a moment after, teleport to their hotel in another disguise. A couple in honeymoon who never left their room since they checked in this morning. The wide glass windows give them the bird’s eye view – the bar at the center of the town and the warehouses near the port still burning. Ambulances start to rush to both scenes but the flames are difficult to put out.
“When you said you’ll practice your genjutsu, I didn’t expect you’ll use it on a whole town,” Sasuke leans against the glass and observes the face of his partner through the reflection.
A maniacal smile starts to form on her lips and she laughs; at first, just under her breath, barely audible, but it bubbles and now echoes against the four walls of their suite. “That was satisfying.”
Sasuke smirks, enjoying this side of her. “Is it my turn now to die by your lips?”

Tenzō's day begins with an unexpected surprise: a woman, a civilian with whom he had an affair a few years earlier, knocks on his door, a child in her arms. The child, she says, is his son.
«He looks like your bonsai version», the kunoichi let out at one point, unable to hold back her wonder as she studied the sleeping face of the little one. «Sakura, please…»
.
.
.
Tenzō wandered around the Village like a zombie, the sleeping child wrapped in his arms.
How the fuck could this happened? What was he supposed to do? How… For a moment he felt the panic attack oppress his chest but he managed to dominate his body with the pure strength of his mind – the training of the Root finally did something good, at least.
But he needed to sort this out. He needed to speak to Kakashi and knew it was late but hoped to find him still in the office.
Eventually he managed to reach his destination, the Hokage palace, and entered the circular room through an open window.
Kakashi was there, sitting in the chair that had belonged to him until a few years ago, a pile of papers on the desk, a roll of a A-rank mission in his hands. On his arrival he did not turn around but raised an arm in greeting. It was evident that he expected him to speak. But Tenzō wasn't even sure he could think anymore. Finally, the former Hokage turned in his chair and when he saw the child held in his arms, he raised an eyebrow and abandoned the scroll.
«All out», he said, evidently to the ANBUs on guard. «What happened? Who is that child?» he asked after a few seconds, when he was sure that the two ninja teams were no longer within earshot.
«Kaede. He’s name is Kaede», Tenzō replied, swallowing hard as he tried to gather his thoughts.
«Sit down», Kakashi ordered, getting up and bringing the chair to him.
He widened his eyes at that offer.
«I can’t. That is –»
«It’s a chair and you need to sit down. So do it. Now».
Tenzō did. Because his senpai had used the tone of voice he used when he was the captain of the ANBU team and had to be obeyed quickly and without objection by his subordinates.
«And now tell me what happened», he ordered standing in front of him.
Tenzō had to think for a moment. How to explain what had happened? Where could he begin? His head was a mess and he had never felt this way in almost fifty years of life. Eventually he forced himself to open his mouth and the words began to come out spontaneously.
«This morning a woman showed up at my house, this child by the hand, saying she needed my help», Tenzō began, automatically obeying that tone of voice again. «I let her in because I recognized her face: she was a civilian with whom I had a relationship long ago. She told me this child is my son», he threw out, in one breath, ignoring the stunned expression on the ex Hokage’s face. «And she’s gone».
«Wait, she’s gone? Where? When will she come back?»
«Never», he replied, his tone flat.
«How…?»
«She drugged my tea», Tenzō explained, guessing Kakashi’s question. «When I woke up there was no trace of her. There was only a farewell letter for the child».
The other shinobi was silent for a moment and Tenzō knew he was gathering his thoughts, putting together the pieces of the puzzle. He hoped that at least he would succeed because personally the ANBU was groping in the dark.
«Forgive me a moment, Tenzō, but… you are a jōnin, and a tremendously skilled jōnin, too. How the hell did a civilian drug your tea without you noticing?»
«After her revelation I lost control and yelled at her for explanations», he explained, feeling vaguely embarrassed at the memory of his outburst. «The boy ran to the bathroom and I went to get him. Afterwards my state was too altered to recognize the presence of the sleeping drug».
«It’s not that I don’t understand, but what the fuck Tenzō».
«I know, senpai, I’m really sorry».
Kakashi shook his head and put a hand on his shoulder, giving him a reassuring smile.
«It’s okay, there's no need to apologize. Hand me the letter», he ordered as he placed his hand on the ground to summon Pakkun and make him smell the object, ordering him to follow suit. When the pug had disappeared out the window, a little hesitant, he added, pointing to the baby: «Can I see him?»
Tenzō nodded and with extreme delicacy turned the child to expose his face. And Kakashi held his breath, just like he had done a few hours before, because the resemblance was truly incredible, almost surreal. And it froze his veins, a fixed thought that was beating in his brain and that threatened to make him scream.
«So, you have a son», Kakashi said after a moment, the neutral and controlled expression of someone who has seen a lot and knows that with a wrong move he could trigger the injured animal.
At least that was how Tenzō felt, who shook his head decisively.
«It is not possible…»
«Look at him, he’s identical to you as a child. He has your eyes, your features…» Kakashi pointed out… as if he hadn’t already noticed it, as if he didn’t think he had a mirror of the past in front of him, when he was in front of the child.
But although logic and common sense dictated that this had to be his son, Tenzō knew he couldn’t be. No, he couldn’t.
«Senpai, it can’t be. I have always been careful…» he tried to say, in the hope that his old friend, his old companion, would understand and would not ask for more, that he should not be forced to relive that humiliation and pain of many years before.
But of course it was Kakashi, the one in front of him, and he trusted the man so much also for his intelligence and his stubbornness.
«Apparently not enough».
«He can’t be my son», he finally resolved to say, now resigned to reveal even that secret of himself that only one person in the world knew.
«Listen Tenzō, maybe you reproduced with spores like mushrooms, I don’t know what to tell you», Kakashi blurted out, irritation starting to infiltrate his voice.
But the ANBU was in no mood for jokes or reproaches, not now, not with those thoughts crowding his mind. Not even from his senpai.
«It’s not funny», he replied, fighting the irritation with anger. It was the only thing left to him at that moment.
«Neither is the fact that you deny the evidence».
«I’m not denying it, I… Tsunade-sama said I am sterile», he finally admitted, his eyes cast down. He didn’t want to see the Rokudaime’s reaction to that news.
«What?»
«Orochimaru’s experiments with Shodai-sama cells apparently made me sterile», he explained, trying to keep a flat tone, intending to convey to him that that wasn’t a big deal… and that that child couldn’t have been his son.
Silence. A few seconds of pure and awful silence followed his confession. And he didn’t look up.
«Ah. I see. I’m sorry, Tenzō».
He shook his head at Kakashi’s soft voice. He didn’t want pity from him; he wanted help, he wanted answers, he wanted someone to tell him what the fuck to do now.
«It’s not like I wanted to have children, so it was never a problem». “Liar”. «But now…»
«I see. We can do a DNA test, but I have to talk to Sakura or another doctor…»
«Sakura», he interrupted him and finally ventured to leave that very interesting point of the floor to look Kakashi in the face. He took no pity on it and this helped him maintain eye contact. And it was perhaps the hardest thing he had done in recent years. «But only her. Please».
«Don’t worry. No one else will know anything from me until you decide the opposite yourself. You know you can trust me », he added, putting a hand on his shoulder. Tenzō knew it.
 ***
Half an hour later they were both in the living room of the Hatake house, Sakura listening to her husband’s explanation as she continued to glance at the child curled up on her sofa next to Tenzō. He had woken up when they arrived and watched the three adults with wide, tearful eyes; then the twins came trotting around and, after observing the newcomer for a moment, they took him by the hand and dragged him away. After less than twenty minutes Momoko had arrived in the living room saying that the new baby had fallen asleep while they were playing and Tenzō had silently gone to retrieve him leaving the twins alone to play with Bisuke.
«He looks like your bonsai version», the kunoichi let out at one point, unable to hold back her wonder as she studied the sleeping face of the little one.
«Sakura, please…»
«Sorry», she said to Tenzō, who had a grim face. «So, are we going to do this DNA test?»
«Yes, please».
«Give me a second». And she left the three males to run to the kitchen where she grabbed a sterile swab that she knew had been left in the cutlery drawer since Aki had stopped using them to build towers, and a couple of plastic freezer bags, then went back to the living room and passed one to the ANBU, nodding. «I need some hair. With the root».
The latter nodded and carried out the order, dropping a lock of brown hair into the bag. Meanwhile, Sakura knelt in front of the child and gently let a little bit of chakra flow in a point of the jaw, making it open just enough to allow the kunoichi to slide the swab inside the baby’s cheek. When she was satisfied she threw the stick into the bag, sealing it carefully and gently closed the mouth of the probably-son of Tenzō.
Then he took both bags and wrote a few words on them as Kakashi called Shiba. She knelt beside the ninken and strapped the bag of samples to his back.
«Bring them to Yūki», she instructed him while scratching a spot behind his ears that made him melt every time. «Leave them to her, only her, understood? And tell her that they have absolute priority: I want the results as soon as possible».
Shiba nodded and took off like a rocket.
Sakura sat back down next to Kakashi and watched her old taichō.
«Tenzō, I would like to discuss with you how to behave if the paternity test is positive», she said quietly, carefully measuring her words because the man still seemed on the verge of a nervous breakdown. «I know what you’re thinking… that’s what I’m thinking too». And judging by the killing spark in Kakashi’s eyes, that was exactly what went through his head too.
«Really? I don’t think so», Tenzō replied in a lashing tone.
Sakura leaned forward and squeezed his hand slightly, ignoring the poison in his voice.
«Do you think that, being you sterile, the child… Kaede… is probably an experiment by Orochimaru. An unauthorized experiment», she began calmly, not letting go of his hand. «If so, we should step in and end Konoha’s collaboration with that sadistic bastard once and for all».
«Sakura…»
«You’ve known for years how I feel about him, Kakashi, so don’t make that face», she retorted, exasperated. She had nearly twenty-five years of grudge against that being, in her soul, and the fact that he had helped the Alliance during the war had not erased her memory of the fear and pain of the attack on Konoha during her first chūnin exam, as well as anger at what Sasuke had become in three years spent in Orochimaru’s hands. So no, Sakura couldn’t accept the Sannin as a companion and ally and Kakashi knew it well (he was present at his fight with Tsunade about the matter after all). «But before we jump to conclusions that would be devastating for everyone in the Village – and although I’m dying to smash that… man in the face – I’d like to ask your permission to undergo a couple of fertility tests», Sakura continued. ignoring her husband’s grunt at the restrained insult to Orochimaru. That was not the right time to deal with old grudges and disagreements with her lovely husband and her shishō: their friend needed help and at that moment he had priority over everything. «I imagine it has been several decades since Tsunade-sama visited you, and our medical skills have greatly improved in the meantime».
«Okay», Tenzō said immediately, his voice flat.
But the woman shook her head.
«Wait to accept. One of the tests, the most thorough, is also very invasive». And she began to explain the procedure, which among other things involved inserting a long needle into the patient’s urethra. At the end of the explanation both men were pale and nauseated.
«Okay, I agree», the ANBU captain finally repeated, his voice a little weaker than his first, fervent consent. «When do you want to start?»
«The DNA test will be ready in a couple of days but if you agree we could start with the first fertility tests as early as tomorrow. I would leave the procedure we talked about only as a last resort, in case the test is positive and the previous analyses inconclusive or negative».
Tenzō nodded. It was evident that he felt the need to act and, unable to speed up the paternity test, was forced to fall back on what he could check.
«Can we start this evening already?» he asked in fact, and with a look in his eyes that broke Sakura’s heart. All she wanted right now was to punch someone, and Orochimaru was the first name that came to her mind. But she had to hold back, for her friend.
«All right. If you’re sure…»
«I’m sure», Tenzō said, his voice as hard as the expression on his face.
«Okay, give me a minute». And she went back to the kitchen where, after a moment of searching, she found a couple of airtight plastic containers she had bought when Megumi started eating solid foods. In theory they should have been used to prepare baby food at home and store them correctly, but Sakura had never found the time or the desire to do so and had always bought ready-made baby food.
Back in the living room after having taken a look at her children who had collapsed on the mat with Bisuke on guard, she passed one to Tenzō who looked at it questioningly. Sakura, trying to remain as professional as possible, asked: «Have you had sex in the past three or four days?» Tenzō shook his head, the blush blooming on his cheeks. «Good. Then we can proceed. You need to fill up the container. Of sperm».
«Fill it up?!»
Had it not been such a delicate moment, Sakura would have laughed at the shocked expression on the face of her former taichō.
«A sample will do. But I need everything, from the first to the last drop», she specified with a reassuring smile.
«Ah. I understand», the man stammered a little, his cheeks even redder, his eyes avoiding those of the kunoichi… maybe she had to work better on her reassuring expression, after all. «Do I… do I have to do it now? Here?»
«Tenzō!» Kakashi roared indignantly, almost making the child crouched on the sofa wake up.
This time Sakura couldn’t hold back a chuckle.
«Our presence will not be necessary», she assured him, ignoring her husband’s menacing eyes. «You can use the bathroom. Or do you think you need… ah, video material to give you… a hand in the matter?»
«Sakura!»
«What? This is a question I ask all my patients. Masturbating in a cup is not at all easy».
«Kami-sama, I don't want to hear», Kakashi muttered, hiding his face in his hands.
«The bathroom will be fine», said the other shinobi and flew out of the living room.
For a moment there was silence between husband and wife, a silence that was broken by the Rokudaime.
«Thank you».
«For what?»
«For having a plan», he began, going to crouch on the tatami in front of Sakura and take her hand, the mask now lowered to show his wonderful features. «For acting as a doctor, for keeping me from rushing to Orochimaru and killing him with my own hands, for taking matters into your hands, for distracting my friend, for giving him something he can control».
«I wanted to do more, give him an answer immediately…»
Kakashi shook his head, grey eyes two pits of sadness.
«When he got to the office earlier… You should have seen him, Sakura, he was shocked. I didn’t see that expression on his face since we were just kids».
Sakura sighed. He had known Tenzō for more than twenty years now, and after the war the respect she had felt for the man had slowly turned into a strong friendship. Seeing him in that state, feeling his anxiety, seeing the fear in those dark eyes usually always calm, had broken her heart. And she dared not imagine how Kakashi, who had known the man for much longer, felt.
«You know, part of me would like an excuse to go to Orochimaru and tear him apart», Sakura confessed as she stroked Kakashi’s unruly hair.
«I know», he sighed and leaned forward, wedging between her knees so that he could put his arms around her waist and rest his head in her lap.
They remained like this for a while, Kakashi hugging her while Sakura played with his hair, a reassuring silence that enveloped them.
After perhaps fifteen minutes, light footsteps roused them from that semi-numbness.
«I’m done», Tenzō announced from the doorway, his cheeks still very red (from embarrassment or excitement Sakura didn’t know).
Kakashi sat back on the sofa, the mask miraculously returned to its place to cover his face, and Sakura stood up, stretching her sore shoulders a little.
«Okay, give it to me so we can get it over with», she asked, reaching out her hand.
But Tenzō hugged the container as if it were the most precious thing he had, the redness that spread from cheeks to ears.
«May I… I’d rather keep it myself», he muttered, taking a half step back.
«I have to take it to the hospital and get tested within an hour».
«I come with you».
Sakura raised an eyebrow, slightly irritated (and if the situation hadn’t been so delicate she probably would have flung herself to the man and stolen the container without too many ceremonies).
«You know that sooner or later I’ll have to take it anyway, right?»
«Better later than sooner», Tenzō muttered, his eyes fixed on the ground as if the tatami in the living room were the best piece of art ever created by human hands.
A grunt behind her told her that Kakashi was holding back laughter. Understandable.
«Okay than, let’s go», Sakura finally gave in and turn to give her husband a light kiss on the cheek and then walk towards the door. «Men», she muttered in exasperation as she slipped her sandals into the genkan, well aware that Tenzō could hear the insult.
He had the decency not to answer and followed her to the entrance, Kakashi at his heels.
Sakura raised an eyebrow in the direction of the man who shrugged with a simple «I’ll come with you», and called Bull and Urushi back, entrusting them with the three sleeping children.
 ***
Tenzō, in a corner of the lab with Kakashi, watched Sakura work on his sample. And yes, it was awfully embarrassing. The whole situation had been embarrassing but on the one hand he was grateful because for a while it had distracted his mind from the thought of Orochimaru.
The thought that Kaede was an experiment terrified him as few other things had done in his life. He hadn’t even stopped to think about what it meant for him to have a son, taken as he was in terror of the prospect that that son was yet another experiment with human guinea pigs. And he knew he had to think about it, he had to decide what to do with the child… well, Tenzō had no idea how to raise a child. He wasn’t a father, and he didn’t have someone around to help him… No, he didn’t want to think about it, he couldn’t think about it, not until he got the test results. He realized it was a stupid decision, that he was behaving like a coward, but now in his mind there was only Orochimaru and the memories of his early life in the laboratory, immersed in that cylinder of hot liquid. There was no room for anything else. The only thing that apparently managed to live with the terror was embarrassment, and that mix was making him nauseous.
Sakura finally stopped looking at the microscope and got up, the folder on which she had written in the last half hour clutched in her hand.
«Then?» Tenzō asked, his mouth dry, fear swelling in his chest like a balloon and making it more difficult for him to breathe.
«Macroscopic analysis is pretty good», Sakura began, her eyes rolling over the notes she had taken. «Viscosity, colour, smell, it’s all in the parameters. The pH is a bit low but nothing to worry about. And the volume of ejaculation is definitely above the norm».
Tenzō felt the redness go down from his cheeks to his neck. He had always thought he would die on a mission, or to protect the Hokage, and instead fate had decided to make him die of embarrassment in a laboratory in Konoha. Ironic.
«As for the microscopic analysis, however, the motility is actually a bit weak but you have more than sixty million spermatozoa per ml and the morphology is pretty good. So my diagnosis is asthenozoospermia».
Tenzō didn’t know if it was embarrassment or anxiety but he didn’t understand much of what Sakura was saying.
«Which translated for those who are not doctors means…?» Kakashi intervened.
«To give you a definitive answer, I would have to repeat the exam in three months», Sakura replied, her eyes still fixed on the test results, her brow furrowed a little, as if she were trying to grab something that was missing. Then she finally looked up and smiled at Tenzō. «But no, you are not sterile. You do not have a very high fertility but not too far from normal; indeed, considering your age it is rather good».
«How is it possible?» he asked, his voice a little trembling, relief and terror mixed together. «Tsunade…»
«How old where you when she took the test?»
Tenzō thought for a moment, trying to recall that day.
«Nineteen. And a half», he added thinking that it might be useful for Sakura to be as accurate as possible.
He earned another smile.
«Have you repeated it? About three months later?»
The man nodded.
«Strange. Very strange. Unless…» Sakura broke off, a different expression on her face, as if she had solved some riddle. «Let me guess, the other time you didn’t ejaculate completely in the container».
Tenzō nodded again, a part of his mind already busy deciding how to put an end to his sufferings because maybe not even in a million years would he be able to look Kakashi and Sakura in the face again after that day.
«A large part of the spermatozoa is emitted at the beginning of ejaculation and if that fraction is not collected, the results are staggered», explained the kunoichi, distracting him from his thoughts.
And finally the embarrassment gave way to understanding.
«So I’m not sterile?» Tenzō asked quietly.
«I would say no».
«And… isn’t he an experiment of Orochimaru?»
Sakura’s smile grew warmer and her green eyes took on a sweet note.
«I can’t say that, at least not yet. DNA analysis could help, though», she began, her voice reassuring. «The only thing I can say is that the odds that three years ago you were fertile are very high. So yes, Kaede could be your natural child».
Tenzō’s heart began to beat faster, almost deafening him, and that horrible weight that had oppressed his chest since that morning suddenly melted.
It was a hand resting on his shoulder that awakened him and a bubble of gratitude swelled in his throat.
«So there might be a lot of little Tenzōs out there», Kakashi said, the smile evident in his voice.
«Senpai!» Tenzō yelled, glancing at Sakura who was trying hard to hold back her laughter. The man felt his cheeks flush again: he didn’t think he could blush so much, he had to admit it, but that afternoon he had proved him wrong. «I… I… I have always been careful!»
«Not enough, evidently», the Rokudaime teased him, his hand, still resting on his shoulder, radiated serenity and Tenzō couldn’t really get angry with his old friend. «And yet I thought I gave you a good speech when we were kids».
Here, perhaps he had to re-evaluate his choices in terms of friendship.
«Senpai!»
Tenzō felt the embarrassment mount again but this time he welcomed it with open arms because it was no longer entwined with terror but with relief.
«Thank you», he whispered, and the grip on his shoulder tightened and Sakura smiled at him and even the last fraction of anxiety dissolved.
Now he had to figure out how to deal with Kaede, how to be a parent to that child who had just lost his mother. It was something that terrified him but in a completely different way than Orochimaru’s thought. And he was comforted by the idea of having Kakashi and Sakura and his other friends around. And for the first time since the doorbell had rang that morning, Tenzō smiled.

The Perfect Gift
Written for Day 3 of the Kakashi Lounge Discord Server’s September Event. Prompts: Happy Endings | Forgiveness | Hope | The Perfect Gift
[Read on AO3] Pairing: Kakashi x Rei (OC) Rating: Teen and Up @the-kakashi-lounge-blog
Kakashi ruffled his daughter’s hair as they entered Kaminoki Bookshop, his in-laws anxiously awaiting their granddaughter’s arrival. Rei kissed Nariko’s chubby little cheek, instructing her “Be good for Grandma and Grandpa while we’re gone, okay?” Grinning, Nariko nodded once before wiggling out her father’s grasp and rushing toward Hana, affectionately slamming into her legs so as to nearly knock her off balance.
“I’m sure she’ll give us a run for our money” Yuruganai jested, patting her on the head.
“Are you sure you guys are okay with this?” Rei asked. As she rose to her feet, Kakashi placed a tender hand on the small of her back. “I know she can be a bit of a handful.”
Hana smiled affectionately back at her daughter, replying, “It’s no trouble at all! You know we love it when our little Nari visits.” She turned her gaze to her granddaughter then as she asked, her voice rising an octave, “And we’re going to have lots of fun tonight, aren’t we, sweetheart?”
“Yeah!” Nariko exclaimed, raising her arms up in the air. “We can watch movies, and bake cookies, and play lots of games, and stay up til the sun comes back out!”
Hana’s face grew pale at the prospect, chuckling nervously. “Well, we’ll see about that” she mused. Nariko fell back onto the floor in uproarious laughter, as if she knew she already had these old folks wrapped around her tiny little finger. There was no way they could say no.
The interaction was not particularly convincing for a mother as anxious as Rei. Yuruganai could see the clear uncertainty painting his daughter’s face, the way she bit her lip and watched her daughter giggle and kick her legs in the air. “Go. Enjoy your anniversary. We’ll be fine” he reassured.
“Thank you again for doing this” Kakashi replied. “We really appreciate it.” And truly, he did. Hana and Yuruganai’s investment in Nariko’s life was such a welcome relief, especially after their past skepticism of Kakashi and Rei’s relationship. Raising a child was difficult, especially one as rambunctious as Nariko, and they could use all the help they could get. While Kakashi truly loved every minute of being a father, he couldn’t remember the last time he and Rei had a night to themselves. They found romance in the little moments now: the sloppy morning kisses with a child’s knee in your face, the homecooked food after a long day of monotonous paperwork and chaotic games of hide and seek. The moments watching Nariko romp around the playground with the other children, and the way Kakashi would wrap an arm around his wife and kiss her cheek through his mask, his heart swelling with love for the little life they had created together. Fatherhood was everything he had ever wanted, and yet he could not deny that some nights he did, in fact, yearn for a break. If nothing else, Rei certainly deserved it.
At least for Kakashi, there were his hokage duties. It was still a massive responsibility but the job came with a very different type of stress. Rei never got a moment to herself. She never had the chance to step away from it all for something else. It was clear to Kakashi how especially exhausting being a stay-at-home mother was. He saw it in the dark circles under her eyes, her matted hair, the mess in the kitchen and the toys littering the floor. Kakashi did what he could but always feared it was never enough. She worked so hard. She deserved a quiet night of pampering with a fancy dinner she didn’t have to make herself, a non-animated film she could watch uninterrupted, and snuggles on the couch that did not involve a toddler’s slobber. If there was any night to do it, it was tonight.
Rei nestled into Kakashi’s embrace as they walked home slowly, enjoying the sunset and the cool March air. “Are you sure she’ll be alright, Kakashi?” she asked quietly. “I’m so worried about her.”
“Don’t be” Kakashi reassured her. “Everything will be fine.”
“I just feel so guilty about leaving her” Rei replied. “I mean, we spend every day together. Her and I are never without each other. I just…”—by now, Rei’s eyes had welled up with tears. She bit her lip as she looked back over her shoulder, Kaminoki fading into the distance. “I feel so selfish, like we’re abandoning her or something, I don’t know.”
Kakashi paused in the middle of the street. He brushed the long bangs back out of Rei’s face and tilted her chin up to look at him. “What are you crying for?” he asked softly. “I promise, Nariko is going to be fine.”
“Are you sure?” Rei asked. The look of concern in her eyes, the desperation on her face, was enough to break Kakashi’s heart.
“Positive” Kakashi reassured her. “She seemed more than happy about spending time with your parents. She’s resilient and adaptable. And there’s nothing selfish about taking a night for ourselves.” He caressed her cheek softly, hoping to exude some sense of calm. “You work so hard every day to take care of her, you shouldn’t feel bad for taking time for yourself. You can’t run on empty all the time, Rei. You deserve to relax.”
Rei sniffled and a pathetic little giggle broke past her lips. “I know. You’re right” she replied. “I just wish I didn’t feel so terrible about it.”
“It’ll be alright” Kakashi said. “Let’s just try to enjoy tonight as much as we can, okay? No more crying.” He grinned and kissed her on the forehead, squeezing her hand in silent support. Rei forced a smile and nodded. Truthfully, she didn’t want to take this away from him, either. He needed a break as much as she did.
They continued down the road in comfortable silence before, all at once, Rei giggled quietly and nudged Kakashi for his attention. “You know, I was thinking: I hope my parents can even handle her.”
Kakashi chuckled and shook his head. “I’m sure they’ll be fine. Besides, they could handle you, couldn’t they? Nariko has to get her energy from somewhere.”
“Yeah” Rei laughed, mildly embarrassed. “If only I still had that much energy” she joked. She was positive she hadn’t had a full night’s sleep in four years. Looking back on her ANBU days, when she’d stay up until the wee morning hours only to wake up at dawn, it all seemed incomprehensible to her now. These days she could barely keep her eyes open brushing her teeth. Funny how creating a life can drain so much of your own.
Once they returned home, Kakashi guided Rei immediately into the bathroom with an all-knowing smirk. She watched quizzically as he began filling the tub and stirring in a copious amount of sweet-smelling body wash. Before she could ask him what this was all about, Kakashi glanced at her over his shoulder and replied, “A little relaxation never hurt anyone.” Rei could hardly stifle her laughter. She sat down on the edge of the tub and kissed his cheek. “Now you stew in here for a little bit while I go fix us some dinner” he insisted.
“Wow, I guess maybe we should leave Nariko at my parent’s place more often” Rei joked. She smiled at him over her shoulder as she undressed, watching him retreat back to the kitchen. Once he was gone, she sunk into the warm water and closed her eyes. Her head had been pounding all week, her stomach twisting into knots. She stretched her arms out in front of her, straightened her back, and hoped this would be enough to alleviate all of her aches and pains.
Rei had no idea how long she actually spent there, but by the time Kakashi had returned, her fingertips were wrinkled and waterlogged and her eyes had grown heavy. Her husband knocked musically and peeked his head through the doorway, announcing “Dinner’s ready!” Rei sat up and began rinsing the soap suds off her body, trying to snap out of her sleepy stupor. Kakashi crouched down beside her, cupping water in his hands to help wash away what she couldn’t reach. “So, did you enjoy your bath?” he asked, extending a hand to help her up.
“Mmhmm, it was—” Rei started, but as she stood up the room began to spin. Her breath hitched in her throat as she fell onto Kakashi for support. His eyes immediately widened, holding her close as he helped her step over the edge of the tub and then wrapped her in a cozy towel.
“Are you okay?” he asked. He sat her slowly down on the lidded toilet, watching as she blinked and tried to gain her bearings.
“Y-yeah, I’m fine” she replied. “I just…got a little dizzy for a second.” Kakashi cocked a brow in concern. She may have insisted she was fine, but her face looked so pale and her hands were trembling in her lap. She sucked in a deep breath and smoothed her wet hair back. When she noticed he was staring at her, Rei pasted a fake grin on her face and added, “Really, I’m fine. I think all the hot water just fucked with my blood pressure or something. Probably doesn’t help that I’ve been tired.”
“Was the water too hot for you?” Kakashi asked. “You should’ve said something. I could’ve cooled it down if it—”
“No, really!” Rei interrupted, perhaps a little too abruptly. “I said it was fine.”
“Okay…” Kakashi replied. He was not at all convinced but he knew better than to press her for answers. Especially when she seemed so on edge. He wanted tonight to be perfect and starting an argument or triggering a panic attack was the exact opposite of those intentions.
Once she had calmed down, he watched with great focus as she slowly stood up and made her way into the bedroom. She peered at him over her shoulder, teased a tiny smirk, before dropping her towel and asking, “So do you want me to get dressed or should we eat dinner with our clothes off?”
Kakashi’s cheeks burned as he ruffled his hair and replied, “I wouldn’t be opposed to either.”
“Hmm” Rei hummed before finally turning to her drawers and pulling out a cute pair of underwear and one of Kakashi’s old shirts. “Well then maybe I’ll make you work for it, just to make things interesting” she said as she slipped his shirt over her head. It was one of the ones he wore back when he was a jonin leader, part of the since-outdated uniform. It fell to almost mid-thigh on her small frame, but fit tighter in the bust on account of her figure. When she turned around, the lace hem of her panties just barely showed from beneath the hem. Kakashi bit his bottom lip as she approached, lacing her fingers with his, then walked alongside him into the kitchen.
On the table, a simple dinner awaited them by candlelight. A vase of her favorite flowers served as the centerpiece and for dessert, there was mochi—the kind with a whole orange inside. He knew how much she loved those. Toshio’s nose poked over the edge, sniffing for snacks, but Kakashi quickly shooed him away. Leaving Toshio alone with food was risky but he was not about to let the dog ruin all of his hard work. He pulled Rei’s chair out for her before settling in himself.
Rei’s stomach growled in desperation as she picked up her chopsticks and surveyed her food. She locked eyes with Kakashi as they said in unison itadakimasu before digging in. The food was nothing Kakashi hadn’t made before: the typical rice, miso soup, and nitsuke—his specialty. This time, however, the fish in particular was overwhelming. It’s dead face and gaping mouth made her stomach churn. She picked apart a small piece, nibbled, then clapped her hand over her mouth. Kakashi paused mid-chew, staring at her in concern, as she flung her chopsticks on the table and staggered to the bathroom.
“R-Rei..?!” he called after her. The panic in his voice was almost palpable. She threw the lid up and fell before the toilet, gripping the seat with white knuckles. Kakashi gave Toshio one quick warning glare before racing after her. “Rei, are you alright?!” he asked. He skidded up next to her, resting a hand on her lower back as she heaved and wept. He refused to leave her side the entire time, one hand constantly rubbing her back as the other rummaged through the counter drawers for anti-nausea medicine. Once she was done, he soaked a towel in cold water and pressed it to her forehead while he prepared a cup of water and a dose of chalky pink medicine. “Are you alright?” he asked.
She hated the way he was looking at her, the absolute fear and concern on his face. Was she alright? How was she even supposed to answer him? She had been feeling sore and sick for weeks, but had just chalked it up to sleep deprivation. It had happened before, it made perfect sense. But she had her suspicions, too. This episode only further cemented them in her mind. So was she alright? Shaking her head, Rei huffed and whispered, “Kakashi, I think something’s wrong.”
The word wrong struck him hard in the chest. “Was it the fish? The man at the market said it was fresh, but he had this look in his eyes that made me unsure. Maybe I should start an investigation. Maybe he’s trying to poison me to get me out of office. Not that I’m a stranger to death threats but—”
“Kakashi, stop” Rei interrupted, lifting her palm in emphasis. Her hands were shaking again. “I’ve been feeling questionable since long before the fish was on the table.”
Kakashi blinked. “W-what do you mean…?”
Running her fingers through her hair, Rei stretched her legs out in front of her and locked her eyes on the grout lines in the floor. She didn’t particularly want to say it, because saying it would make it feel all the more real, but she couldn’t dismiss it any longer. “K-Kakashi…Kakashi, I think I might be pregnant again.”
A jolt of panic rushed through Kakashi’s body. It took him a moment to register what, exactly, she had just said. It wasn’t like they were trying to conceive, but they also weren’t not trying. Perhaps that was the biggest mistake of all: the carelessness. But they had become so tired, it wasn’t worth the effort to pull out anymore. Hell, whatever intimate time they even had anymore was often spent half-asleep in lazy positions. They simply did not have the energy to try.
A long moment of silence passed before Rei immediately gripped the edge of the toilet again. Her entire body was shaking now and her breath was labored. “Oh god, Kakashi, please say something” she whined.
“S-sorry” he murmured, trying to gain his bearings. “A-are you sure?” he finally asked.
“I don’t know, I really don’t know” she whimpered, pressing a hand to her forehead. “I thought I was just burnt out or coming down with the flu or something but then I started thinking about it and I can’t even remember when my last period was. I’ve been so busy, I lost track and then tonight happened and I just—” Tears were threatening to fall again as she choked on her own voice. Kakashi frowned empathetically before scooting nearer and pulling her into his arms.
“Do you want me to run to the drugstore and pick up a pregnancy test?” he asked. “I can do that for you if it’d make you feel better.” Sniffling, Rei buried her face against his chest and nodded.
“I think that might be for the best” she whispered. Kakashi cupped her cheek and kissed her forehead. He hated to leave her like this but he was not going to pretend like they did not need answers. And as much as he hated the thought of what rumors would fly at the sight of the hokage buying pregnancy tests, he hated even more seeing Rei so distraught. He asked her if there was anything else she needed before giving her one last kiss and rushing out the door. In their absence, Toshio had leapt onto the table and was halfway finished with their food but at this point, Kakashi couldn’t have cared less. There were far more important things at stake now.
When he returned, it was nightfall and Rei was curled up on the couch with a trash can by her side. Toshio had situated himself at her feet, his heavy head resting on her thigh. If Kakashi had to leave her, at least he could always count on her faithful canine to watch over her. The moment he unlocked the door, Rei sat up expectantly. He could see the anxiety immediately rush to her face. Toshio tilted his head around and barked a hello, spotted tongue lopping out of the side of his mouth.
“I got the four pack” Kakashi said, holding up the box. “Just to be safe. There was a coupon.”
There was a coupon. Perhaps it was just the ridiculousness of the situation, but Rei couldn’t help but laugh. It was always in the most dire of times, it seemed, that the stupidest things became suddenly so funny. After all, in a matter of minutes, things likely were not going to feel so funny anymore.
Rei forced herself to chug the last of her water despite still feeling incredibly sick. Her mounting anxiety was surely not helping her cause. She sat on the edge of the tub as she ripped open the box and pulled out one of the tests. The mere sight of it was enough to make her gag again. Kakashi rested a gentle hand on her knee.
               “You ready?” he asked.
“I don’t really have a choice” she replied. Without another moment of hesitation, she pulled down her underwear and proceeded to go to the bathroom. At least her bladder had been working overtime, so taking the test required no extra waiting on her part. Once she was finished, she put the test face down on a wad of toilet paper on the counter and sighed. Kakashi set a timer for five minutes. “And now we wait.”
Kakashi gave a single nod as she went and sat beside him on the edge of the tub. “Are you alright?” he asked.
“We’ll see” Rei replied. Then, with a bitter laugh, she added, “Well, isn’t this romantic? Happy anniversary, sweetheart, here’s my piss on a stick!”
Shaking his head, Kakashi wrapped his arm around his wife and pulled her close. “I wouldn’t want it any other way” he jested.
“Yeah, okay” Rei scoffed. After a few moments, however, her bitterness faded into dejection. Dropping her head back, Rei inhaled sharply and whispered, “God, this sucks.”
Kakashi rubbed her shoulder. “Are you mad at me?” he asked quietly.
“I’m mad at myself” Rei replied. “I just…fuck, I’m so sorry, Kakashi.”
“What are you sorry for?” he asked. His voice was dripping with sympathy, his gaze soft and gentle. “You’ve done nothing wrong.”
“But I ruined our anniversary dinner” Rei argued. She could feel the tears pricking at the back of her eyes yet again. She refused to let herself cry this time. She felt so pathetic. “Tonight was supposed to be special. Everything should’ve been perfect but…but then I had to go and puke in the middle of dinner and start…all of this.” Here, she crudely motioned to what had become of their bathroom: toilet seat propped up, towels on the floor, medication littering the counter. And of course that stupid little pregnancy test.
Kakashi drew her close and kissed her temple, nuzzled her cheek. “It’s okay” he replied. “You have nothing to be sorry for. I promise.”
Rei turned and buried her face in his chest. Voice muffled, she asked, “Kakashi, what are we going to do?”
“Well, what do you want to do?” he asked. “Though we really can’t make any decisions until we know for sure.”
Shaking her head, Rei whined, “I don’t know! I haven’t thought this through. I never considered this could happen. I’ve been so focused on what’s going on right now, and Nariko is so much work, I just—” Her voice was starting to rise in octave as her hands shook again. This whole situation was so overwhelming. She needed a plan. She felt so unprepared.
“I know, Rei. It’s okay” Kakashi whispered. He squeezed her tight and ran his fingers through her hair, brushing her bangs back out of her face. He could feel how rapidly her heart was beating through her chest and truthfully, he didn’t blame her. He had never considered this possibility either. Now that they were staring it in the face, however, a strange feeling had taken root in his chest. “You know” he said quietly, “I almost kind of hope the test is positive.”
Rei automatically leaned back to stare at him in confusion. “You do?” she asked.
“Mmhmm” he replied. “The thought of having another baby is kind of exciting. We may not have planned for this, but we can do things right this time. No wars to worry about. I’ll be right here the entire time. I think we’re in a good position to care for another child. I’m sure Nariko will be happy for the company. I think we’re ready, Rei. Maybe all of this is happening the way it’s supposed to.”
Rei considered his words for a moment. She supposed he had a point. Things were so much calmer now than when she was pregnant with Nariko. They were secure financially, professionally, and in their relationship. Pursing her lips, Rei dropped her eyes to the floor, placed a hand upon her stomach, muttered, “I mean, another baby would be kind of nice. I always thought we’d have a second child eventually anyway.”
Tilting her chin up to face him, Kakashi looked her in the eyes and whispered meaningfully, “I will do everything I can to take the best possible care of you. All of you. I promise.” As much as he believed he was a good father, he knew there were areas where he was lacking. All of that was going to change now, though. He needed to invest more time in caring for his family. He needed to pick up the slack at home and create a much more balanced division of household duties. One in which Rei was not so overloaded with work just because she was home all the time. Even if the test came back negative and things went back to normal, she deserved better and he knew that. He only wished that it hadn’t take a scare like this to truly remind him of that.
Before any more could be said, the timer went off. Rei went rigid, immediately gripping Kakashi’s hand tight. “Oh god, I don’t think I can look” she whispered, eyes locked on the test awaiting her attention.
“It’s okay” Kakashi reassured her. “Whatever the answer is, we’ll be ready. We can do this.” He was so confident, so certain and sweet. Even if she herself was terrified, Kakashi’s support made Rei believe that maybe they could, in fact, handle this. After all, she wasn’t alone in this. They were a team. They were in this together. Whatever the future held before them, they would face hand in hand.
Sucking in a deep breath, Rei cringed and flipped the test over. It took her a minute for the result to register. She stared at it dumbfounded, eyes wide and unblinking, before her hand clapped over her mouth. Kakashi couldn’t read her expression.
“What? What does it say?” he urged.
Rei’s hand trembled. A strange and unexpected happiness rooted itself deep in her chest, rising up out of her throat in the form of an incredulous laugh. Turning her gaze away from the test, she whispered, “Kakashi…it’s positive.”
Kakashi blinked, trying to make sure he heard her right. “It’s…it’s positive…?” he asked in disbelief.
Rei nodded slowly, biting her lip to fight the small smile weaseling its way onto her lips. Her eyes were glossy and wide, her mouth agape. “It’s positive” she repeated. “I guess we’re really having a baby after all.”
Overwhelmed with happiness, Kakashi leapt to his feet and pulled her into a tight hug. He buried his face in the crook of her neck and she could feel his hot, happy tears against her skin. It wasn’t until then that she realized she was crying, too. Suddenly nothing else mattered. Not the stress or the exhaustion, not the fact that Toshio had completely eaten all of their dinner. Curious about the commotion, he nudged the door open to peek inside, sniffing at the air and barking as if in congratulations. Rei turned to look at him, a laugh escaping her, as she urged him to come nearer. She reached down to scratch behind his ear, musing, “Looks like you’re going to have one more baby to protect.”
Toshio, as if in staunch approval, barked and began spinning and leaping happily. In a place as small as their bathroom, however, this left little room for anything else. But Kakashi and Rei couldn’t even be bothered.
“I guess we’ll have to find a way to tell Nariko” Rei whispered, settling into her husband’s arms. “I wonder how she’s going to take being a big sister.”
“I think she’ll be happy” Kakashi assured her. “She’ll never have to worry about being alone.”
Nodding, Rei snuggled up close, resting her head against Kakashi’s chest. “Yeah…that’s good” she whispered. “She’s such a social butterfly, I think a sibling would be good for her.”
Kakashi smiled down at his wife and his heart overflowed. All those years of turmoil and distance could never have prepared him for what was in store. How did he deserve a life such as this? With a beautiful wife and daughter, a warm home, an unbelievable job, and now another baby on the way? He thought of his father, of how proud the White Fang of the Leaf would be. If only he could’ve met his grandchildren. If only he could’ve seen all that Kakashi had accomplished. He was so, so blessed.
“I love you so much, Rei” he whispered, hugging her close.
“I love you, too, Kakashi” she whispered back.
And in those quiet moments, on the cusp of something wonderful, Kakashi was certain he had never been happier. This was everything he had ever wanted. He couldn’t have asked for more—and on their anniversary, even. A celebration of their love, of the commitment they had made to one another. Of everything good in the world, everything he thought he never deserved. This was truly the perfect gift.

Tenzo | Yamato x reader Fandom : Naruto | Naruto Shippuden Words : 2k (I don’t even know how it turned out to be that long?) Sum. : It’s New Year Eve but not everyone has a family to spend the night with. It may be time for you to share it with your senpai. A/N : Because I am that kind of people that write about New Year Eve in June. Fight me
You were quite young when you joined the Special Forces of Anbu. Not as much as great names like Kakashi Hatake, Itachi Uchiha… or Tenzo.
You were 14 when you became one of their agents, despite your family’s - especially your parents’ - worries. Both were shinobis themselves, and supportive for you to become a great kunoichi on your own, but it didn’t make them any less worried about their baby being a secret agent of Konoha.
Yet, the Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen at that time, encouraged you. You showed great skills in the different fighting arts. Your team sensei was a great help for sure, but you were a fast learner and your teammates couldn’t follow your rhythm. That’s why you ended up within the special forces with the Third’s recommendation, looking for acknowledge, challenges and people who could teach you more.
At first, you were placed in different teams with every new mission, so you could learn how to work along different shinobis with various fighting style and chakra nature. But then, there was Tenzo. At that time he was 20, still had long hair, dozens years of experience as an Anbu agent and was skilled like any other agent in your eyes ; you had facilities working with him. You had such a great respect for his person from the start, never forgetting the words he told you before your first mission together : “I like being nice and friendly, but I don’t have any problems with ruling by fear either”. It didn’t seem to you at first sight, but you learnt he really was a born-leader and deserved his rank.
For eight years you served in Tenzo’s team - most of the time at least - and you were positively ready to keep up this lifestyle for all your life. You were working with friends and becoming stronger to protect your loved ones and the village. And were by Tenzo’s side.
You realized your attraction for the brown-haired man soon. He was young, strong, pretty handsome - even more when he happened to cut his hair short -, intelligent and you loved that kind and respectful attitude of him. You were 14 and him 20, you thought it to be a teen crush based on admiration for your senpai and didn’t mind it much. It wasn’t a problem until a few years later when you get that that crush didn’t fade and worst, turned into love. You kept on denying for months, telling yourself it would be a phase but even with time passing, being always so close to him, you just kept on falling harder for the Mokuton-user.
You had just came back from a watch around the village. It was still early in the evening. While your partners were like you in the locker room changing, you noticed Tenzo kept his equipment on and went to a restroom. When you have gotten rid of your Anbu outfit, you followed him to the annexe room. He had crashed on on of the couch and put his mask aside, the back of his head resting on the backrest. Not long through, as something cold came in contact with the skin of his neck. He opened his formerly closed eyes to see you standing before him.
“(Anbu name) ?”
You held out a water bottle for him to take and sat next to him as soon as he took it.
“What are you doing here ? Shouldn’t you be heading home ?”
“I will. But aren’t you, senpai ?”
It was December 31. The weather was rather freezing but there wasn’t snow falling yet. Only black ice for Konoha’s inhabitants to slip and fall on ; a good way for the Katon-user genins to train on their chakra control.
For the last three years your mother had been complaining to not have you at home for the New Year Eve as you were on constraint. Luckily you successfully got your night free this year. As long as Tenzo got his since you were always paired up together. But you knew it wasn’t something he craved for ; having free days on important events was just a reminder he had no family.
“No. I think I’ll just stay here for the night, in case anyone need me.”
“It’s New Year Eve. You should be celebrating like any other normal human being, senpai.”
“You should know by now I am no normal human being.” He smirked to you as a joke.
”Tsk. I know that very well.”
Both of you chuckled a bit. The years had grew you closer and comfortable with each other despite the age gap. You watched him drink the water, thinking.
“What about we spend the eve together, senpai ?”
“You asked for your night free. Don’t waste it.”
“I won’t.” You stood. “Come with me at my parents’.”
Tenzo raised an eyebrow with a little smile.
“Don’t kid me, (Anbu name).”
“I’m not. I’m serious. I’ve talked a lot about you to them, I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to receive you at their table. There’ll be lots of good things to eat. My father’s always cooking for a whole army. I am practically sure we could feed a tailed beast with all the food they’ll be.“
You said that so seriously it made Tenzo let out a laugh.
“Ok, ok. I believe you.” He calmed down. “I am very thankful to you but I Don’t want to intrude.”
“You’re not. I’m inviting you.” He looked at you, hesitating. “So, you’re coming ?”
That’s how Tenzo found himself in front of your parents’ door.
“Tenzo-senpai, you should pick another name for tonight don’t you ?”
“Ah, yeah. I should. Then… Yamato ?”
You showed a large smile to him and nodded. “Sounds good, Yamato-senpai.”
“I Don’t even know your true nam-”
Tenzo hadn’t the time to finish his sentence that the door before you opened wide on your mother, your father just behind her. She shouted while jumping on your arms.
“(NAME)-CHAN ! My baby, you’re here !”
You laughed at her estatic behavior. She used to be calmer but since you Don’t pay much visits with your Anbu duty, both of your parents were overjoyed anytime they could see you - and your mother wasn’t one to hide it. She kissed your forehead before taking a step back and saw the man by your side.
“You didn’t tell us you would come accompany, (Name)-chan.” Your mother was greeting Tenzo with a large smile.
“Mama, it’s my senpai. Yamato.” You presented him as he bowed his head politely to your parents.
“Nice to meet you, Ma’am.”
“Don’t be so formal, Yamato-san. Call us uncle and auntie. Honet, let the young people get inside before they freeze on the doorstep.”
You saw the uneasiness Tenzo had to call your mother auntie, when he thanked her for getting both of your coats, and how it made your father chuckled. Tenzo could only smile as he followed you and your father to the living-room and as you told him not to bother your senpai.
On the main room, Tenzo was surprised to find many pictures of the whole family. Truth be told he didn’t have an idea of what a family home looks like. But what he could see seemed good to him. From your parents’ wedding to your birth, what seemed to be your first steps, teeth, schoolay. Your genin promotion. The chunin one too. There wasn’t a picture without you or your relatives smiling happily.
“Senpai ?”
Tenzo turned to you and noticed you were sitting with your father around the kotatsu. Sure he had one but it never seemed so appealing to him. On the table, your parents had put so many dishes. You weren’t kidding when you said your father was cooking too much.
Ornament, offering, soba (noddle soup) - your family was respecting the traditional celebration of the New Year Eve almost completely. You even got to see Tenzo play uta-garuta (Japanese playing cards about poems). It was really entertaining and you were glad you got to see th Young man enjoyed the night.
Even when midnight was farely passed, and that you already had exchanged your vows of health, happiness, love and luck, Tenzo had stayed a bit longer to play shogi with your father. Both were extremely concentrated. You were looking sitting just next to them, talking with your mother about your visit to the temple in the Morning and how she wished you would wear a traditional kimono. Yeah because she had complained you went with casual clothes for the night.
What she didn’t complain about through was how she saw the look in your eyes everytime you were looking at Tenzo. She was once again watching you brought another orange slice to Tenzo’s lips who took it mechanically between his lips as he was so into his play. She hadn’t said anything about you bringing a man at home for the first time, but she knew it wasn’t insignificant.
“Checkmate.”
“Aaah. Uncle, you beat me. Well done.”
“Of course, son. Only the Nara can HAHAHAHA.” Your father laugh of his own lack of modesty.
“I could never thank you enough for tonight, Uncle, Auntie. Name-chan too obviously.” You looked up from the orange in your hands. It was the first time he called you by your true name of the whole evening. It made your cheeks burnt a bit.
“It’s nothing much. senpai.” You smiled at each other before he stood up from his place.
“I think it’s time for me to go home.”
Your mother invited him to stay but the brown haired man declined and promised to meet you and your family at the temple in the morning. You stood up at your tuen and went with him looking for his coat and bringing him back at the front door.
“You’re really sure you don’t want stay, senpai ?“
You watched as he put on his shoes then turned to you nodding.
“I don’t want to overstay yours and your parents’ welcome. Thank you, (Name)-chan.” He paused a bit before turning on his feet to take the exit. “Let see each other at the temple later.”
The door closed before your eyes.
Tenzo wasn’t doing his tenth step outside your house that he heard your voice Calling him.
“Wait, senpai.”
He stopped and turned to you. You seemingly hadn’t take the time to put on shoes and were walking in socks in the street. He couldn’t pay him much attention that you had cought up with him. You were fast to put your warm hands on his cheeks and bring his face to yours so your lips crashed on each other.
Tenzo’s eyes widdened and didn’t miss that yours were closed. He didn’t have time to proceed anything that you had already a few steps back away and his face was again feeling the cold of the air.
“I know it’s a bit late for a midnight kiss. But I really don’t to spend the following year alone. I want it to be with you, Tenzo-senpai.”
Tenzo’s heart was beating crazily in his chest and he had no doubt yours was as well. He could see the fear in your eyes ; fear of being rejected and worst that he would take his distance with you. You weren’t even looking at him but at the ground.
“I guess I took the right decision staying at your parents.”
You looked up at him, not understanding.
“You wouldn’t have kiss me back there, right ?” You shook your head no for response. “Then I did good.”
The growing smile on his eyes made you sighed in relief. However it didn’t last long as you felt him a mere inches before you in the slipt of a second.
“Happy New Year, (Name)-chan.”
He put a kiss on your forehead.
“Let’s spend another year together.”
You barely had the time to answer “Happy New Year, Tenzo-san.” that his lips were back on yours.

An Unexpected Arrangement - KakaYama
TEEN+ // ALSO ON AO3 Words: 2,554 Prompt: Fake Dating Warnings: Alcohol, Drunk kissing, background Sasuke/Naruto
Anyone who knows me knows that angst is more my speed than humor, but I had this idea and I loved it so here we are, with my day 3 prompt for @kakayamaweek2019!
Hope you guys like it! :)
EDIT! I forgot to link to AO3 lmao
Kakashi does not talk about his personal life, to anyone, but Team 7 is notoriously nosy and he doesn't want to deal with it so he says something he shouldn’t - which, of course, backfires spectacularly.
Kakashi is not a man known for talking about his personal life. He's just a very private person - he always has been, and despite how much being the sensei for Team Seven has changed him, his dislike for sharing any details about himself hasn't changed a bit.
This, of course, does nothing to deter Sakura. She's always been too nosy for her own good, and while Kakashi knows that it's because she cares, that it comes from a place of worry, right now it's annoying because he's just left the longest, most tedious meeting of his life, he's tired, and he would rather listen to Naruto wax poetic about Sasuke for six hours than talk about his nonexistent love life right now - or ever, really, but when has he ever gotten what he wants? As it is, Sakura seems determined to hound him all the way back to his apartment, which he can't let happen.
He's made it eight years without one of his students finding out where he lives, after all. He's not about to break that record now.
"Sakura," Kakashi says as he comes to a stop, tone gentle but laced with an edge of warning. She stops beside him, glancing up at him curiously. He knows it's probably a bad idea to pull rank with someone who could kill him with just one finger if they felt so inclined, but he's only half a block and three flights of stairs from a well-deserved nap and he'd like to get there at some point today. "Do you really think this is an appropriate conversation to have with the Hokage?"
"Probably not," she replies after a moment of thought, but she doesn't appear apologetic. If anything, she sounds almost defiant, grinning cheekily at him. "But I'm not asking the Hokage, am I? I'm asking my friend, who I'm worried about."
For a moment Kakashi can only stare at her, wondering when she had become someone who so easily dismissed the Hokage. He knows her respect for him as her sensei has been declining steadily over the years, though that probably has a little to do with how lackluster he was as a teacher and a lot to do with his habit of walking around reading porn in public.
Well, that and maybe how he told her not two days ago that he hated the job and tried to pass the hat to her. He doubts he'd respect himself much either, if he were in her shoes.
"Maa, I'm fine," Kakashi finally says, but she doesn't look like she buys it. "You don't need to worry about me, Sakura, I..." He pauses when he catches movement from the corner of his eye, turning his head to see a group of men walking toward them. Naruto is talking animatedly to Tenzo, bouncing on the balls of his feet, while Sasuke and Sai trail behind them looking disinterested. Of the four of them, Tenzo is the only one who looks intrigued by whatever they're talking about.
It's like a lightbulb goes off over his head.
Is it a stupid idea? Maybe. Definitely, because if Tenzo finds out about it he will kill him, but those consequences for what he's about to do are the last thing on his mind.
"I have Tenzo," Kakashi tells Sakura, looking back at her. He expects confusion - Tenzo is not a name she is supposed to know, so she won't know who he's talking about. It's almost brilliant in its simplicity.
But confusion is not the reaction he gets. Instead, she lights up, clasping her hands in front of her and breaking out into a bright, excited smile. He doesn't like that look, and he likes it even less when she suddenly sprints up the street, closing the gap between them and the rest of their team.
Kakashi realizes a split second too late that not only has he made a mistake, but he’d played right into Sakura’s hands.
"I told you!" Sakura yells, and Naruto yelps when she suddenly jams her finger into his chest. This is bad. This is very, very bad. "Kakashi-sensei confessed, you owe me dinner!"
But that is so much worse.
"Confessed to what?" Naruto wheezes, clutching his chest where Sakura had poked him, jumping back when she moves to do it again.
"To dating Captain Yamato!"
Tenzo's head turns slowly, and if looks could kill Kakashi would drop dead where he stands.
"I'm sorry." Kakashi's not sure how many times he's apologized now - he lost count in the lobby, and while Tenzo hasn't said a word since they walked away from their arguing students, Kakashi knows he's in trouble.
He can't say he doesn't understand why Tenzo is angry with him, though. It's one thing for him to lie, but to include Tenzo in that lie without at least telling him about it first crosses one of the few boundaries that they have, and on top of that he had told that lie, intentional or not, to one of their students. He'd be mad, too, if Tenzo had done that to him.
And hell, he'd probably react the same way Tenzo is, too - with silence, quietly fuming as he all but drags Kakashi up the stairs to his apartment. He knows he's in for it the moment the door shuts behind them, and Tenzo does not disappoint.
"What were you thinking?" Tenzo demands, spinning to face him once he's slammed the door shut, dark eyes narrowed into a glare. Kakashi gets the distinct feeling that his friend is currently resisting the urge to hit him, and if he didn't find Tenzo as scary as an angry kitten, the pure fury in his eyes would almost being intimidating. "You told Sakura we were dating?"
"Not exactly," Kakashi replies defensively, kicking off his sandals by the door and beating a hasty retreat to the couch, sinking onto it with a heavy sigh. Resisting the urge to lean back and close his eyes, he instead leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees and watching Tenzo tug off his own sandals. "Sakura was concerned that I was lonely. I told her I had Tenzo, how was I supposed to know that she knew that was you?"
"You..." Tenzo stares at him, and when his knuckles visibly blanch on the sandal he's holding, Kakashi thinks he might throw it at him. "I'm starting to think that everyone who calls you a genius is either a liar or has never actually met you. The whole team has known my name for years now because you can never remember to use my code name-"
"Oh. Well, shit." Thinking about it now, he does vaguely recall only calling Tenzo by the code name Tsunade had given him maybe two or three times since he came out of Anbu to captain Team Seven. Sakura's reaction makes a lot more sense now. "I'm sorry, Tenzo. In my defense, I did just come out of a five hour meeting with the Daimyo's advisers about his upcoming visit. And honestly, is it really fair to only be mad at me? Sakura's the one that started a betting pool. She even got Lady Tsunade involved-"
"Lady Tsunade would bet on whether Naruto is eating ramen for dinner tonight if someone asked her to," Tenzo interrupts, finally tossing his sandal down and crossing the room, dropping unceremoniously onto the couch next to Kakashi. When he speaks again, he sounds just a little less angry. "I just... I thought you knew that the kids jump to conclusions like it's their job. You should have-"
"I know." Kakashi sighs, leaning back into the cushions of the couch. "I'm not going to apologize again." He closes his eyes, letting himself relax - it's not like there's much else he can do right now anyway. "I'm also not telling them the truth. Telling Sakura I had you was the first time she's actually quit asking me questions about my love life in weeks, and I will happily let her keep thinking we're dating if it keeps her off my back."
Tenzo doesn't seem to know what to say to that, and a heavy silence - not quite awkward, but not entirely comfortable either - falls over them, and when Tenzo continues to offer no response, he lets himself begin to doze off.
He's half-asleep when Tenzo finally speaks, pulling him back to attention. He cracks one eye open, giving him a curious look.
"I guess I can go along with it," he says, and if Kakashi isn't mistaken, his friend's cheeks are flushed. "If Sakura really bothers you as much as you say she does, I can pretend that we're dating."
"You sure?" Kakashi asks, both eyes open now as he looks at Tenzo, and after a split second of hesitation, Tenzo nods, though his expression becomes one of regret when Kakashi grins wolfishly. "I could kiss you right now."
Tenzo slugging his shoulder as hard as he can is totally worth the way he turns the same shade as a beet and bolts for the door.
At first, pretending to date Tenzo had been a good idea. Sakura and Sai still ask questions, but Sakura isn't as pushy as she'd been before and she's teaching Sai to be more tactful, so if Kakashi asks them to respect his privacy and drop it, they typically listen. Sasuke just doesn't care, so he's a non-issue in that regard (which - and he won't tell the others - makes the Uchiha his current favorite).
Naruto, on the other hand, isn't as considerate, but Kakashi's still not entirely convinced the boy wasn't raised by wolves when no one was looking so that's to be expected.
He does have to admit it's nice, not having to field questions about his personal life constantly, and even nicer still to get out of doing things by telling the kids he's spending time with Tenzo.
At least, it was nice, until Naruto was finally promoted to Jonin and he decided to have his celebration at a bar.
Maybe it's the poorly lit booth Naruto picks out in the back of the room, or the sake sitting warm in his belly, but Kakashi finds himself letting his guard down - and, in a strange turn of events, actually enjoys himself.
"I didn't know Kakashi-sensei knew how to have fun!" Naruto crows about it over his third drink, and it visibly sloshes over his fingers when he thrusts his cup into the air.
Kakashi would probably be offended if he weren't already beginning to feel a bit of a buzz, and besides - Naruto isn't wrong. But he's not going to put a damper on the night by bringing up the differences in their childhoods.
"I know how to have fun," Kakashi tells him instead, reaching over to pat Tenzo's back when he inhales his drink. "I played along when you were trying to see under my mask, didn't I? I even tried to help you."
"What are you talking about?" Sakura asks, but instead of answering Kakashi just grins, tugging his mask down and taking a drink.
Sakura is the only one currently looking at him, and by the time she recovers from her own shock and gets Naruto, Sasuke, and Sai's attention, his mask is already securely back in place.
The others, of course, don't believe her.
Four drinks in, the mask comes off and stays off. He's starting to feel unnaturally warm as the alcohol takes effect, and he's tired of pulling it up and down - at this point, Naruto is the only one who hasn't seen his face because Sakura, who is now taking Sasuke's place as his favorite, has been making him look the other way when Kakashi tugs it down.
This time he's paying attention, though, and his indignant reaction to realizing his friends really do already know is almost worth the mouthful of water he spits in Kakashi's face.
Five drinks in, the full length of Kakashi's leg is pressed against Tenzo's despite how much space they still have on their side of the table, his arm thrown carelessly over Tenzo's shoulders as Naruto regales them with a story about the new jutsu he's working on.
Six is still sitting untouched in front of him when he turns his head to mumble something in Tenzo's ear, and he doesn't really register the kiss he presses to Tenzo's temple until Naruto makes a joke about the PDA like he hasn't been all over Sasuke for the last twenty minutes.
Seven... Well, seven has him standing at the bar waiting for eight when Tenzo's hand suddenly wraps around his wrist, and then his back is pressed to the wall in the dark hallway that leads to the bathroom and Tenzo is kissing him, hands in his hair while his own are pressed to the small of his back.
Seven has him fleeing as fast as his feet can carry him and feeling grossly more sober than he had been seven drinks ago.
Seven has him realizing he is absolutely fucked.
Of course, he's known how he feels about Tenzo for way longer than he would ever admit - he reads enough trashy romance novels to know what it means when his palms start to sweat and his heart tries to escape his chest when Tenzo is around. The question is when this had started - maybe when they'd started going on missions together again, after his students had all left for other teachers.
Now that he thinks about it, he does remember a moment on one particular mission to the Land of Waves where they went undercover in a local bar to gather information, and seeing Tenzo smiling and laughing with the locals had made his chest feel so tight he thought he was having a heart attack.
Yeah, that's the moment. It has to be.
But whether that moment was the catalyst or not, the truth of it is inescapable - at some point, Kakashi had fallen hopelessly and pathetically in love with Tenzo, and that realization is somehow both the best and worst thing that has ever happened to him.
The problem with that is, though, that Tenzo had kissed him back. In fact, if he recalls correctly, Tenzo had been the one to drag him into that hallway in the first place, had been the one to tug his mask down and kiss him stupid. And that is terrifying and confusing and he doesn't know what the hell to do.
Which is how he finds himself confessing everything to Sakura when she visits him in his office the next day, hiding his head beneath a newspaper on his desk while she laughs at him.
He supposes he deserves it.
"You love him," she says, patting his shoulder sympathetically. She makes it sound so simple.
"No," he groans, but he's a liar and she's heartless.
"Yes." She pulls the paper away and rolls it up, smacking him on the head with it. "If Naruto and Sasuke can get over themselves, you can too. Just tell him how you feel and date him for real." With that she turns to leave, taking his newspaper with her.
"I hate you," he calls half-heartedly after her as she goes, but she just laughs and shuts the door.

How would Team 7 (Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura) react to the ships KaiKashi and ItaKai? How would Minato and Kushina react? And Team Recon?
Ooo…this is a fun one! Strap in, ‘cause it’s also a long answer. Gonna break it down by ships:
ItaKai
Important to note: In the story (old version, at least), Team 7 and Team Recon do eventually learn the truth about Itachi.
Team 7
When ItaKai first became a thing (pre-massacre), Naruto was COMPLETELY oblivious. He met Itachi twice during this time, but in classic Naruto fashion, never remembered it. Later on, after learning the truth about the massacre and getting to know the “real” Itachi a bit, he’s just happy that his sister got to be right about him - right to always have those nagging doubts about the massacre, right to never completely give up on him. In a way, it gives him hope that he’s also right about Sasuke.
Sakura has similar feelings to Naruto about it - seeing Itachi and Kaiya able to reconnect gives her hope for Sasuke.
Sasuke…here’s a complicated one. When they were younger, he was a bit mixed. On the one hand, his brother was spending time with this girl instead of with him. On the other, he (Sasuke) actually kind of liked that girl. He also liked how his brother was around her - lighter, happier in a way that he only ever saw with himself or Shisui. Post-massacre, their relationship doesn’t play into Sasuke’s feelings about his brother much; the whole “he killed my entire clan” thing does tend to eclipse a young romance gone wrong. As for later on, when the truth comes out…in my headcanon, he’s again, mixed. Part of him is glad that his brother got some happiness in the end, no matter how short-lived, and he’s even grateful to Kaiya (and maybe a bit envious) for being able to give that to him.
Team Recon
Not thrilled about it. At all. Before the massacre, they were…hesitantly supportive? They were all young, but Hikaru and Gorou definitely felt a sudden burst of brotherly protectiveness over Kaiya when they realized she was developing something with the Uchiha heir. They were worried he was taking advantage of her, that he’d just use her then toss her aside in favor of doing whatever his clan dictated…and they didn’t want to see their “little sister” heartbroken. Of course, that’s…more or less what wound up happening, in an extreme way. Itachi committed the massacre of his clan, becoming a notorious criminal who allegedly had been a psychopath the whole time.
Later on, when they’re together again, Hikaru and Gorou are, again, VERY not thrilled about it. By now they know the truth of the massacre, but even so, neither of them can see anything good coming out of those two being together - except that they trust their teammate and see that while the situation makes her unbearably sad, she’s also, in a way, happy. So they keep their mouths shut, try to accept it for what it is, but plan to be there as soon as things go south to pull her out and/or be her support.
BONUS AU HEADCANON: Again, they’d be hesitantly supportive at first, always with an eye out in case this clan heir was up to no good. But they see over and over again that this is not the case, that Itachi genuinely cares for Kaiya. Plus, in this AU, Itachi and Kaiya have known each other WAY longer than Team Recon has been around. So actually, they might not be as hesitant. Heck, Gorou might even be playing matchmaker in the beginning! Yuuma would be in the background with Shisui, both of them with knowing smiles that say “yeah, we knew all along this would happen.”
Minato & Kushina
This is mostly based on an AU scenario where everyone is alive, there was no massacre, etc. Kushina is totally into this. Seriously. She and Mikoto have been plotting this since Itachi and Kaiya were born (well, mostly Kushina doing the plotting!). When Itachi and Kaiya get married, Kushina is unrestrainedly cheering during the ceremony. Minato…he’s quite okay with it. Itachi is a polite, kind individual, highly skilled and intelligent. He has a good head on his shoulders, a good heart in his chest, and he obviously adores and cherishes Minato’s little girl. Minato may have been a little more protective when they first started dating as teens, maybe even using his Hokage status to…silently remind Itachi not to mess with his daughter, but I can also see him basically grooming Itachi over the years to possibly become the next Hokage.
In the “real world” of the story…I think Minato and Kushina would be heartbroken at what’s become of Itachi, and what that means for an ItaKai relationship. Minato would blame himself for, well, dying so early on - if he’d survived, if he’d been a little faster, a little stronger, defeated the masked man and subdued the Kyuubi without getting shanked…maybe the massacre wouldn’t have happened. Maybe his daughter wouldn’t have been an amnesiac orphan. Heck, maybe even his son wouldn’t have had to carry a demon. Maybe his wife would’ve survived. And maybe, just maybe, Itachi could have had a more normal life where his potential was allowed to blossom in a more peaceful environment.
KaiKashi
Team 7
Naruto and Sakura are all for it. These two are like the parent figures of Team 7, so them getting together is just…right.
Sasuke is a little more…hesitant? On the one hand, pre-Shippuden, he was just too caught up in his own world to care - or at least, that’s what he told himself. I think he might actually be a little resentful of Kaiya for moving on in any way when he refuses to. Part of him recognizes that this isn’t a fair judgment - as he often reminds himself, she didn’t lose her whole clan that night, it’s not her responsibility to do anything about it - but he’s young. He doesn’t have the maturity yet to separate his experiences from those of others. Another part of him, though, agrees with Naruto and Sakura - the two just work together.
Team Recon
Total KaiKashi shippers here. They’re happy to see Kaiya moving on (however slowly and hesitantly) and they think Kakashi is good for her. They couldn’t be more into this if they were following them around quietly singing “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid in the background.
Minato & Kushina
Hmm…no AU scenario for this one, so just TUTN-verse: Minato is actually pretty into this. Of course, there’s a little time-shock for him here, because when he was alive and last saw these two, his precious baby girl was just short of five years old and his protege was already an Anbu operative and a teenager…so yeah, there’s a little cognitive dissonance in suddenly seeing them both as adults AND romantically involved. But he’s happy that they’ve found happiness and comfort in each other, and can almost see a bit of a mirror of him and Kushina in them.
Kushina is also pretty happy about it, though she’d probably want to give Kakashi a stern talking-to about how to treat a lady, including NOT reading porn by a certain Pervy Sage around her daughter!

Hints
1 Hit Kill Odamo Rassengan
Let your enemy hit you until your health is very low instead of going into nine tails ghost do the regular jutsu and is going to be odamo rassengan and its a one hit ko even if they have 100 percent full health.
Faster Way To Get Ryo
You will need mission mode to do this. Go to mission mode and select the character you do best with. Go to 10 straight battles. Keep defeating opponents losing the least health possible, and try to do secret technique KO’s. If you do this and/or get perfects, some of these battles will give you over 1000 ryo. It might not sound like much, but it is faster than vs. Battles and other things. Do not say this won’t work because the first battle doesn’t give you much money. Around battle 3 is where you get a lot of ryo.
Mid Air Rassengan
When you are in the air as naruto press the jutsu button and you will do mid air rassengan the longer you hold it the more power full mid air rassengan.
Higher Ranking In Kumite Mode With Asuma Sarutobi
First, you must have Kumite Mode and Asuma Sarutobi, both of which you can buy from the shop (I don’t remember how much Kumite Mode costs, but Asuma was 10, 000 Ryo. ) . Next, go to Kumite Mode and select Asuma as your character, then when you start fighting, push “DOWN + STRONG” (STRONG is “A” on all controller options, unless you are only using the WiiMote without the Nunchaku, if you are using the WiiMote without the Nunchaku, STRONG is the 2 Button. ), that knocks out the Rogue Ninja IMMEDIATLY, keep this up for a while, and then when you have a bunch of Rogue Ninja to fight, get your Chakra up to 75% (if it isn’t already that high, or higher. ), and then press the DOWN JUTSU (Down on Control Stick/D-Pad, and the Jutsu button. ) (NOTE: The Jutsu button varies from controller style to style. So be sure to check out the Instruction Booklet or Settings to see what the Jutsu button is for the controller that you are using. ), Asuma then starts lashing out at the enemy, and when one dies (which they do fairly quickly), he goes to another one until he is either attacked or the Jutsu’s time is up, then just repeat the cycle until you are knocked out. (NOTE: The “Cycle” that I am talking about is DOWN + STRONG, until you build up at least 75% Chakra, then using the Down Jutsu over and over again. ).
100000 Ryo
If you have save data and have beaten Naruto CONR2 you will start out with 100000 ryo and most of the characters open to buy in the store and most of the game stages I Don’t know if you have to have the game beaten but I did.
Naruto Uzumaki Combo Rassengan
When your health is full jump behind your enemy and with there backs facing you press the ultimate jutsu button and you will do naruto uzumaki berrag but in sted of a kick at the end you will do to rassengans.
Kakashi’s Specials
Fire Style Fireball Jutsu: Press Special + Right. Water Style Shark Bomb: Press Special + Left. Earth Style Splitter Projecting Palm: Press Special + Down. Wind Style Rising Dragon: Press Special + Up. Sharingan: Walk Back + Special. Mangekyou Sharingan: Hold Special.
Camera
Use naruto and jump up and get behind the person and do his special but you have to do it at the nine tail fox room and ur camera will stay stuck at the middle of the screen.

Dear Writer
Heyyo!
It's good to see you here, this is a long exchange so the main thing is enjoying yrself so feel free to pick and choose or ignore this letter as you wish! And feel free to browse through my letter tag for more ideas.
Also, I’m on that full-time work and full-time uni degree grind so it probably will take me like a month to read the fic, does not mean I do not love it and I promise to get to it!! Don’t stress to much about a gap between posting and commenting <3
Now without further ado onto the letter:
General Likes: Trans characters, queer themes, queer solidarity, character development, strong gen. relationships and interactions with characters outside of a relationship, dialogue-driven story, non-linear narrative, animals, angst, hurt/comfort, character introspection
DNW: underage, a/b/o, past S7 for SPN
Supernatural
DNW: Anything past Season 7
Sam/Jess
2. I’d love to see them during S4 where their relationship starts to fall apart, but like also see them still loving each other
Sam & Dean & John
1. John gets a year to live instead of instantly going to hell AU – how do they react? Do they try to save him? Does John tell them?
Sam & Dean & Cas - Cas/Dean & Sam
1. I want to see Sam and Cas and Dean being pals! I especially want to see Cas trying to figure out how he feels about Sam without heaven influencing him to think of him purely as the boy with the demon blood who will break the last seal. I wanna see Dean making fun of Cas with various misconceptions about the bible and Cas just taking it wildly seriously and not getting any jokes.
2. I’d love just a domestic-ish fic, let Sam drill Cas with questions about angels and heaven! Let Cas drill Dean and Sam about human culture! Would love to see Cas taking human culture things out of the context that Sam and Dean provide him, or maybe Dean purposely lies to him about something as a prank
Sam
Noctis/Gladio/Ignis/Prompto
3. Set between game cannon and Brotherhood, I‘d be down to see what these guys got up to in the years between high school and the road trip. Did Prompto and Noctis study after high school? Do they travel?’
4. Less of a prompt and more a vague feeling but like *slaps prompto* this bad boy can fit so much angst in it. Honestly he’s childhood is depressing af, with the lack of parents and friends combined with a shit body image/relationship with food I wld rlly love some emotional hurt/comfort with him and the squad

3. I would like to see a fic of Prompto integrating himself into Noctis’ life, Gladio and Ignis have been around his entire life, so how does Prompto feel about them? How do they feel about him? Honestly I’m 100% here for awkward insecure bby Prompto

Gai/Naruto
1. I’d like a fic set just before Kakashi gets his genin, really love to see Gai trying to talk up how cool having a squad is! Dragging Kakashi to see his kids and being like aren’t my team great! And then Team Gai getting into some crazy hijinks that make Kakashi a lil scared about the future but also maybe a bit endeared towards them
2. a fic of Gai watching Kakashi slowly loose himself while in ANBU, of him trying to make things right and not being able to and then eventually asking him to be removed from the forces
SDV
Likes: world building, farm creatures, small town hijinks
Sam/Seb
1. Angst about getting out of town, leaving SDV and becoming who they dreamed they would in HS
Sam & Seb & Abigail
1. Abigail talks them into exploring the mines
2. They pull a prank
3. Angst about getting out of town, leaving SDV and becoming who they dreamed they would in HS
