Join us for Jazz on the Green
Saturday should be a beautiful day to paint with sparc! and listen to Jazz!! You're invited to The Makanda Project’s final concert of the summer. Join sparc! the ArtMobile for an open air painting studio during the annual September Makanda Ken McIntyre birthday celebration.
Jazz on the Green will be held at the First Church in Roxbury, 10 Putnam Street, Roxbury (rain location: inside church) - 1pm-4pm
Jazz on the Green (2019) featuring guest artist Robert Murrell.
At intermission there will be poetry by Vanessa Silva and a performance by student vocalists from the Butterfly Project. The music program will consist entirely of McIntyre compositions, including some of Makanda’s more recent “discoveries” as the ensemble continue to explore his large body of unrecorded work, and continue becoming more and more impressed with his brilliance as a composer.

Join sparc! for Mask decoration - Next Tuesday!
Join sparc! on Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 3 - 5pm for a Halloween Mask Decoration and collaborative painting event at the Grove Hall Library (in the Jazz Lounge). Led by the sparc! MassArt student team, this artful event is open to all ages and stages! No experience needed!
This past week our theme was Atlantis. With a focus on stencil, underwater creatures, and rich colors we created a beautiful underwater world. People's personal canvases showcased beach scenes, underwater monsters, and beautiful sunsets.

I N S T A L L A T I O N S It’s been a good 10 years since I created any sort of installation and I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to do this for the end of residency show. This is a small section of it here. Over 30 people donated ricks to my residency and because I couldn’t use them all during the time to make into paint I wanted to include them in another way. I made a small installation of the rocks I collected and people donated and I’m so happy with how it turned out and visitors responses to it. My aim was to create a piece of work that allowed everyone to be part of and I feel like this did that, alongside my interactive piece. If you donated a rock to me, can you see it here? Something a bit different… I have a small floral oil painting in this virtual exhibition with @bobcatgallery next month. All 100 works are £100 or less. ‘BobCat Gallery will launch the second instalment of our ‘100 x 100’ virtual exhibition this March, showcasing 100 pieces of original art, each on sale for £100. Brought together through an open call, artists from around the globe will exhibit alongside BobCat Gallery artists in our virtual exhibition space.
