Which Pokemon would you be and why? Pt1
Tumblr media
Piles : from left to right
How to choose a pile?
Close your eyes and take a deep breath and ask the angels to show you the right pile for you and open your eyes. The first pile that catches your attention is the right pile for you.
Masterlist
Paid services
Pile 1
You would be Bulbasaur because you're known for your balanced and practical nature. Like Bulbasaur, you are someone who approaches challenges with a steady determination and a sense of responsibility. You too have a nurturing side, just as Bulbasaur carries a plant bulb on its back, symbolizing growth and care. This means you are likely to be a supportive and dependable friend, always looking out for the well-being of those around you. Your curiosity and willingness to learn and adapt, much like Bulbasaur's evolution, would make you open to new experiences and always eager to grow as a person.
Tumblr media
Pile 2
You would be Pikachu because you're someone who is endlessly energetic, optimistic, and fiercely loyal. You have an infectious enthusiasm for life, always ready to take on new challenges with a smile. You are a natural leader, inspiring others with their determination and never-give-up attitude. Just like Pikachu's iconic thunderbolt-shaped tail, you too possess a spark of creativity and adaptability, making you quick to come up with solutions in times of need. Your sense of camaraderie would shine through in their friendships, as you prioritize the well-being of your loved ones and stand by their side through thick and thin.
Tumblr media
Pile 3
You would squirtle because you're a spirited and adventurous individual. Much like Squirtle's water-based abilities, you would have a natural affinity for aquatic activities and a love for the outdoors. You'd be the type of person who enjoys spending sunny days by the beach, participating in water sports, or simply splashing around in a pool. Your outgoing and sociable nature would make you a natural leader among your friends, just as Squirtle often takes the lead within its squad of Pokémon. Despite your playful and energetic demeanor, you'd also have a strong sense of responsibility and would stand up to protect those you care about, just as Squirtle is known for its loyalty and courage.
Tumblr media
Pile 4
You would be Snortax because you're incredibly laid-back and relaxed. You're the embodiment of the phrase "easygoing." Because you prioritize leisure and comfort above all else, often opting for long naps and hearty meals. You might give the impression of someone who enjoys indulging in life's pleasures. You might not be in a hurry to get things done and could be a bit slow-moving, but you're incredibly kind-hearted and approachable, always willing to share a meal or offer a comfy spot to rest. Just like Snorlax, you have a gentle and affable nature, making you a beloved presence in any group.
Tumblr media
Pile 5
You would be jigglypuff because of your charming, social, and deeply artistic personality. Jigglypuff is known for its soothing singing and ability to put others to sleep, so you may embody a calming and enchanting presence. You are someone who enjoys entertaining others with their talents, whether through music, storytelling, or other forms of artistic expression. Jigglypuff's friendly demeanor and ability to make friends easily would translate into you being outgoing, empathetic, and values strong connections with others. However, you might also have a mischievous side, as Jigglypuff is known for drawing on the faces of those it puts to sleep, showcasing a playful and creative streak.
Tumblr media
Pile 6
You would be Gengar because you are an individual with a dark and enigmatic aura. You have a mischievous and cunning personality, often enjoying playing pranks and indulging in a dark sense of humor. You might have a penchant for the mysterious and eerie, with a love for all things spooky and supernatural. Despite your eerie exterior, you are fiercely loyal to your friends and loved ones, always ready to protect them in times of need. Others might notice you lurking in the shadows, observing the world with a sly grin, but your loyalty and dedication would shine through when it truly matters.

Do you have any headcannons about other characters’ reactions/feelings on Bishang? Like Liu Kang, or one of their allies? I feel like Shao and Quan Chi would be endlessly annoyed by Shang’s obvious favoritism towards Bi-Han.
Tumblr media
kinda crack tbh
General Shao: is just generally annoyed at everything and everyone all the time, so that goes double for Shang Tsung. He’s just too flamboyant and blasé, and ever since first setting his eyes on Bi-Han, he’s become insufferable about the man. He has no idea why, in the bloody pits of the neatherrealm, Shang Tsung needs a wholeass squirtle squad of Bi-Han clones. Shang claims they’re absolutely necessary and vital, but Shao has scarcely ever seen them sent out in battle, so what are they really being used for??
Liu Kang: totally not jealous because he's a god and above that sort of thing. Liu Kang had specific ideas for how Bi-Han’s life and fate should play out. But he should have known better than to send Bi-Han anywhere near Shang Tsung because these two historically cannot leave each other alone. He is one atrocity away from going scorched earth on Shang Tsung. He still has hope that one day Bi-Han will murder Shang himself come in from the cold.
Quan Chi: is low-key jealous, which he chooses to interpret as extreme annoyance. Shang Tsung used to be tolerable. Maybe even good company. Now it’s all endless chattering about Bi-Han and pointless posturing meant to impress Bi-Han. He’s that one Shrek meme “Can you not talk about Bi-Han FOR FIVE MINUTES?” Considers going back to the mines just to be free of them.
Bonus! Titan Shang Tsung: wants to grind Shang into a fine dust under his heel and take his Bi-Han for his own collection. He isn't this obnoxious about his own Bi-Han *bombastic side-eye from Titan Quan Chi.*

Happy holidays! As soon as I saw Ace in the list of characters you listed for your Pokemon crossover prompt, my immediate thought of Yamask being his partner Pokemon made me so excited to make this concept reality! I wanted to challenge myself to draw less cute than my usual pieces, especially since I didn't think I could do Ace's design or my mental concepts of the final piece justice in my cuter, squishier style. Despite the lineart stage being a bit more difficult than usual, I had a lot of fun tackling this challenge! I also had to add some quick, silly doodles to give you something cute as well and give me an excuse to choose Pokemon for most of the other characters you listed (reasoning under the cut because I thought a bit too hard about this).
I gave Ace Yamask because of its Pokedex entries and design focusing a lot on faces. This Yamask isn't intended to represent any character other than Ace (as sort of a parallel?). My vision is that the Yamask is not be able to properly recognize what its past face looked like since its mask is broken. A couple other Pokemon I think he would have are Venusaur (evolved from the first Pokemon in Pokedex order) and Rhydon (the first Pokemon designed). However, I'd think it be funnier if Yamask was his ace because I love when a small, cute Pokemon is the strongest in someone's team. The Swablu line's Japanese names are references to The Blue Bird, so I just had to give Luna one of them! I thought Swablu would make for a cuter doodle though (a few entries mention how it likes to pretend it's a hat). I had a lot of potential choices for Dio, but I decided on Purrloin for personality/Pokedex reasons. In hindsight, it's kinda funny that I gave him a cat when he likes dogs better. Finally, I also had a few potential choices for Carlos, but I decided on the most notable firefighting Pokemon in the anime. Carlos's Squirtle just had to wear sunglasses for this doodle for the Squirtle Squad reference.

Crack Idea with Oak's Lab: Due to shrinking habitat most Kanto Starters are bred at Oak's Lab and sent to the cities who request them. Enter Ash, who was tasked since age 4 to play with the baby starters to get them used to human interaction. Fast forward to Ash starting his journey. He can't have a traditional starter because the kids will feud over who goes with Dad and the last thing anyone needs is a Kanto Starter Tantrum War, so Ash gets Pikachu. Ash meets Bulbasaur and Bulbsaur acts like a surly teenager but is happy to see his adoptive parent/sprouthood playmate again. Charmander immediately goes with Ash because he's a shy little thing and Ash was his comfort person. The Squirtle Squad realize just how badly they screwed up when they looked into their pitfall trap and see a very cross Ash giving the "I'm not mad just disappointed" look. Cue Ash going to Galar and Leon's Charizard 100% refuses to fight Ash at first and basically throws a fit because Charizard does not want to fight the parent they were just reunited with and Leon is just... so lost as to what is happening because he has never witnessed a Starter Tantrum.
holy shit i need more of this

What’s your top three beloved Pokemon? And if you have them— your top three most hated Pokemon?
omg hi Sofie!! :0 Get ready because I have a whole lot to say about this.
Most Beloved:
Number 1: Squirtle
My absolute favorite is squirtle. What's funny about this is I can't really pinpoint a specific reason why I like him so much. My first pokemon game was alpha sapphire, and I didn't play gen 1 until Let's Go Eevee, so it's not a nostalgia factor. I think my brain just subconsciously selected him back when I was watching the Indigo League anime in middle school. The squirtle squad showed up and my brain was like "Yeah. This guy. He's awesome. This is the one." And he has been my number 1 favorite fella ever since then, and as a consequence he is the pokemon I have the most merch of and it isn't really close.
Tumblr media
Please keep in mind this is just what I have in my apartment where I live for college, and that I have even more stuff in my bedroom back at home. Now that I think about it, Koopa Troopa is my favorite mario character, so maybe I have an affinity for characters that are just little turtles. Either way, water is also my favorite type, which means even more bonus points for squirtle.
Number 2: Riolu
Riolu's high ranking has been somewhat of a recent development for me. I've always liked lucario, but I didn't see the light that was riolu until after I watched Pokemon Journeys. Ash's riolu was so silly and adorable, and I always felt so bubbly inside when he was on screen. This shift in my preference is probably due to me developing a major soft spot for cute characters/creatures over the past few years. Most of my favorite pokemon at this point are just little guys because of it. Anyways, the reason I like him so much is because of the aura control him and lucario are capable of. I've always loved aura as a power system; the idea of being able to harness one's own life energy and see it in others is just so cool to me. I especially like how it's established as its own concept outside of moves in pokemon, making it something super unique that only riolu's evolutionary line can take advantage of. I have a lot of lore/worldbuilding ideas for PMD that would utilize aura. For example, Milo, the protagonist of the PMD verse I've been brainstorming, on is a riolu with much stronger aura than normal due to him being a pokemon with a human soul. I have a lot of ideas for how I could use this concept to drive plot points or character arcs, and I might share more in the future if I ever get time to start solidifying a story.
By the way, Milo's partner, Lilly, is a squirtle. No way I don't give both of my two favorites the spotlight.
Number 3: Sprigatito
My love of sprigatito is really quite simple. I love cats. So much. They are easily my number one favorite animal of all time. My Instagram feed is covered in them. So imagine my excitement when I saw that one of the new generation 9 starters was a kitty. My violet team is my favorite team I've ever used in a pokemon game, and the sprigatito line is a massive part of why I love it so much. Sprigatito is adorable, and my meowscarada was so much fun to use after he evolved. On top of that, sprigatito's depiction in Pokemon Horizons makes me love it even more. It's literally just a cat. It loafs. It makes biscuits.. It gets annoyed at the mildest inconvenience. Liko squishes its beans. Plus it releases a super sweet scent when you cuddle it as a bonus. It's so perfect. It's like Game Freak was like "Yeah this is the perfect pokemon for Ray, put it in the game." I have a sprigatito character in my PMD verse named Mayple, but I can't share much about her because it would mean dropping pretty big spoilers for a plot point I have planned.
Honorable Mentions: Greninja and Ceruledge
I love ninjas. I love frogs. Greninja is both. And ceruledge is just objectively one of the coolest pokemon designs ever.
In terms of behated pokemon, I don't have many that I personally despise. It's more so that I feel indifferent about them, and I would simply prefer not to use them on my teams. Usually I don't have any real reason to dislike the ones I do hate; I think it just stems from a gut feeling. The biggest one off the top of my head is the tepig line. I don't know what it is, something just feels off about them. I also dislike incineroar. I like litten and torracat a lot, but they really dropped the ball with the final evolution for me.
That's about all I have. This was really fun to do! Thank you so much for submitting this ask. I look up to you and your work a lot, and it made my night when I got the notification. I'm still pretty new to Tumblr, so I don't know exactly how I'm supposed to do things around here. I want to try to meet more people here, but my social anxiety and tendency to overthink online interactions usually shuts down anything before it can happen. Because of that, being able to answer something simple like this means a lot!! Thank you!! :D

what i think the group chat would be if they were pokémon
this idea came into my head and i thought it would be good to kick off my headcanons/fic content on this blog.
tanner- squirtle/blastoise line but specifically the episode of where the squirtle squad is a thing and has cool sunglasses. literally the reason i made this headcanon list
grunk- i knew i wanted grunk to be a fairy type that has sunshine spongebob energy. i think dedenne suits them well for that reason. also is electric type to match his energy
isaac- i know that isaac’s whole persona is a penguin, BUT i don’t feel like the piplup line or eiscue would work for him. my pick for him is staraptor, i feel like that encapsulates his personality more
nick/softwilly- i knew nick need to be a fighting type because of his love for the gym, so i chose machamp. (this might be my own bias because i have a machamp in pokémon go that is a literal sweetheart and i feel like it can show nick’s soft and tough sides)
larry- larry has to be something that exudes baby girl energy. i chose lucario, not only because of the mass amount of simps it has for it (for some reason) but also because lucario is a short king.
blake/yumi- i knew yumi had to be a dark type from how unhinged he is. i think a good fit for him is houndoom, not only is it a dark type, it is also fire and that represents how yumi spits fire on his rap tracks (god i’m cringe).
anyway i hope you enjoyed :)

Pokeshipping moments in episode 5 of aiming to be a Pokémon master
So this episode was very good overall! We got some Pokeshipping hints as well. One hint we saw is in which misty along with Brock got worried over ash when his Pokémon began to fight with each other. Although it was both who were worried you could see that Misty was going to reach him first because she was worried before team rocket stopped them.
Tumblr media
(Honestly the past two episodes while both Brock and misty worry for ash you can see Misty worries about him more intensely and is even the first to notice him before the others ex: When ash fell down through ice she was the first to notice him before Brock did. Her role has been reminding of a love interest kind of like how chichi worries for goku in dbz)
The other hint I have found is quite interesting. There’s a scene in the episode where people are watching the squirrel squad show. In the crowd it pans out and in the corner we see a lady and a teen. The interesting thing is that This lady looks like an older version of misty. She has the same exact attire except for an adult and even the same hair tie and red bag. Next to her is a teen who looks very similar to ash. He has black hair, tan skin, brown eyes, and even has the same shirt ash wears in journeys along with same color pants. I honestly wouldn’t have thought much about it since it was just an Easter egg it seemed and if Brock was also portrayed to by someone else.
But the thing is that Brock wasn’t even portrayed at all only ash and misty. Another thing is that there haven’t been background characters that ever were supposed to be replicas of ash or misty in the show. There’s been two theories so far about this I have seen. First this is foreshadowing/hinting that misty and ash do end up together and have their own kid later on(Hence adult looking misty and teenage boy looking ash in the scene). The second is that the boy and girl are supposed to be adult versions of ash and misty. Even then it’s really interesting that the writers and animators made this scene because then it shows that ash and misty would always be together even if they don’t have another companion tagging along. Almost as if they are meant to always be together/belong together. When I first saw the scene I believed it was the first theory because of how different they looked in age but no matter what theory you lean on it’s still clear that ash and misty will always be together one way or another.
Tumblr media
I also really liked how ash and misty worked together in this episode. Just look at how great of a team they are! Overall the original trio just work best together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ending of the episode also made me happy. Ash finally got his recognition as world champion! And Misty and Brock also realized they gained some recognition too. It just feels like this was meant to happen all along. Misty and Brock were the first people to believe in Ash when he started and still do.
Final note I wanted to add about the episode lol. The scene where Ash hugs squirtle reminds me of the scene where Ash and Misty’s supposed to be daughter at the unreleased original ending of the Pokémon series hugged Pikachu. Since that one theory was made off this episode I just thought about how there was rumors they were supposed to end with a child as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh and these writers definitely know what they are doing. Like the replicas of ash and misty and the red string reference in episode 2 only for misty to catch ash with her string after he chose to take the path that felt right… Even if it’s not said aloud I think the writers definitely hinting that Ash and misty do end up as the endgame in the long run. What do you guys think about this?

Be a Bulbasaur who is hostile to all trainers.
Get caught by a rookie trainer who gives you love.
Get separated from him in an island full of giant Pokémon and claim he abandoned you and his other Pokemon.
Be told by the Charmander he saved from certain death that he isn't that type of trainer.
Find him again.
See him releasing his Butterfree because he found love.
See the Charmander that told you off evolve into an ass who doesn't obey your trainer.
See your trainer release his newly evolved Pidgeot so that he could help a flock of Pidgey and Pidgeotto.
Travel with him through the Orange Islands where you help your trainer win the Orange League and save the world among other things.
Travel through Johto, where you are constantly abused by an Heracross who finds your bulb delicious.
Witness your best friend Charizard remain in the Charific Valley so he could train and become stronger.
Witness your best friend Squirtle reunite with his Squirtle Squad and leave.
Be, outside of Pikachu, the only member left from your trainer's Kanto Team.
Become the leader of all of the Pokémon in Professor Oak's lab, leaving your trainer.
Fight in the Johto League, where you briefly reunite with Charizard and Squirtle.
Wait for your trainer to return home, only to discover he plans to travel in Hoenn with just Pikachu.
Reunite with your trainer for a while after his new companion catches a Bulbasaur.
Reunite with him, Squirtle and Charizard once again and help him win his final Frontier symbol by defeating two of Brandon's Pokémon.
Remain at Oak's lab where you see new arrivals after your trainer participates in a Pokémon League.
After the Unova League, reunite permanently with your best friend Charizard, who plans on staying for good.
You feel a little less lonely.
You and Charizard reunite with your trainer, now the strongest trainer in the world, and see your best friend Squirtle again. Despite an initial misunderstanding, you reunite with your best friends one last time.
At one point, the Pidgeot your trainer released joins you at Oak's lab.
Half of the Kanto team is together again, and you can't help but feel happy.
Thank you Bulbasaur, for being one of my favorites, if not the favorite member of Ash's team. I'm going to miss you so much.

Computer Card Game Options
Two aspects of computerized card games that interest me are how you can remove the inconvenience of some physical card game interactions to make them acceptable and how you can keep information controlled - both secret and verified - to enable certain options.
Suppose you liked the Pokemon TCG but you hated the Energy Cards with a fiery passion.
In a computer version you could let players pay energy costs for their Pokemon's attacks with other Pokemon of the same type.
Now, this gets into a weird situation regarding information, where if you're using cards with built-in purposes to power your other cards, your opponent is learning a lot about your deck with every card you play. Imagine if to play your Pikachu's 1-electric 1-anything Thundershock attack the opponent discarded a Charizard to pay the 1 generic energy needed. Prior to this you might not have known they were even running Fire-types!
If you want you could leave this alone, of course. Let the player see what the other player is discarding. But if it's a computer game you don't have to. You could just show that the other player discarded an electric type and something else.
Also, by "discard" we could mean the card just gets shuffled back into the deck. There's no reason it has to be removed from the game. And unlike the physical game, there's no wear and tear on the cards or break in the action to shuffle. You pay the cost, the animation just shows the card(s) going "into the deck somewhere," and the turn moves on.
If I were making these mechanics in a physical card game I would feel like I had to allow players to see each other's cost discards, just for basic verification that nobody's cheating, and I would feel like I had to have the cost either go into a discard pile, which might eventually be shuffled if the game allowed for a lot of cycling and I didn't want it to end based on decking, or it'd need to "recharge" as Pathfinder ACG calls it and have the expended card go on the bottom of your deck.
...Huh. Another weird interaction I've never seen but could be neat in a computer card game: Verified Cards. Basically, a rule that if cards in your deck have been seen, rather than a shuffle screwing up this knowledge the deck gets shuffled around them. So you could play a Future Sight attack like in Pokemon video game titles, setting the attack to your third card, and then if you used, I dunno, a Squirtle Squad ability where a Squirtle pulled another one out of the deck, and then the deck was shuffled... First of all you wouldn't need to shuffle, because you could pull the Squirtle from a random location in the deck without revealing any other cards to either player. But if you did shuffle you could do so in a way that left Future Sight at card slot 3 no matter what.

I'm back in my Starter Squad brainrot so uh.. here's some speculation + Squirtle character analysis:
I got back to the Starter Squad brainrot and I decided to rewatch it again in the backround while I did some routine stuff and there's something on my mind that I haven't seen ppl talking about yet. Spoilers ahead:
So, I was watching the compilation of the 10 episodes (I usually just watch them separately, so I think that's why I hadn't noticed it till now), and in the switch between ep 9 and 10 it's not just them stiched together, but there's this little noise. An echo of a saved file and a glitch, and then bam episode 10.
I was honestly mostly surprised bc I expected them to show that one post-credit scene in ep 9, with the caterpie wearing Charmander's head as a hat, but they didn't, instead there's those sounds.
Now, it might just be a cool indication that 1) that moment had consequences (save file sound) and 2) of Missigno still being around (glitch), which is not a problem at all tbh, if that's the case it's a pretty neat way of showing it, but idk there's something scratching at the back of my mind about it.
Now, this isn't really a theory as much as it is speculation, and I'll be honest, I'm most likely ovethinking this, bc there's not really a bunch to go off of, but eh it's a fun concept to think about so I'll do it anyway:
I think episode 9 might have more than 1 ending.
And I think this will have to do with whatever Wartortle is gonna ask at the gods in the mountain.
So, episode 10 is mostly centered around time. There are alot of things that it talks about, but time is like the little bow that ties it all together.
Specifically it's mostly about being stuck in the past, about how the past affected the present, usually with too much or too little time being the biggest issue.
Too little time to save Charmander, too much time letting the war continue.Too little time spent on actually getting to know the kids you decided to take care of (what drove Turtwig away), too much time to actually see results in training (what drove, between other things, Chimchar away)
Squirtle is mostly shown to be a character here that either does too little or too much as well, especially after Charmander's death.
He did too little to save his friend, he did too little/pretty much nothing to stop caterpie over the years, he did too little to actually be a good father/uncle figure to Chimchar and Turtwig in the ways that mattered.
He did too much when trying to apprehend Charmander, attacking him to the point the guy was almost dead even BEFORE Caterpie stabbed him; he did too much during the war, having it implied that he was the main fighter, to the point where the conflict only actually ended when Squirtle was let go; he did too much trying to protect the kids, he was sheltering them because he was terrified them getting hurt like his friends did, but that only drove them apart from him further.
And he already did that before, but it was in contexts with fewer consequences. It's usually that one song and dance of doing too little and then bam, something happens and the guy goes all out (either on purpose or on accident).
With his human trainer? He does very little to get out of his situation, even trying to fake that he's actually 'very happy here, no really stop laughing, guys'. And then bam, he screams at him and is overjoyed to see him dead later.
With the first caterpie encounter? 'Welp, sucks to be them', then bam Bulbasaur accidentally guilt-trips him into saving them and he shows up running with a shiv, taking almost everyone down accidentally, but still, the guy went in swinging.
Hitmonchan? 'Bulbasaur is with a real trainer now, we're not bringing him back, he's better off without you', and then bam, Charmander apologizes and says he needs his help and he decides that 'hey how about we break a frigging pokeball. No idk what's gonna happen, but it will probably be bad, so we win right?'
The forest king? He keeps waffling the whole episode, going along with the forest king's antics and talking about empathy, and then bam, the guy starts being too annoying and he just holds him down and tells Charmander to kick his ass. Bonus points in this one because he is totally against raiding a pokémon center and at the end he just let's it happen.
And the thing is, Squirtle/Wartortle is somewhat aware of this flaw, even as a kid, but he doesn't really understand the full thing. He knows he does too little, but didn't seem aware that him going all out immediately afterwards was usually just as harmful.
With Charmander it's where we see this in full affect, as soon as he becomes friends with him, he goes all out in trying to make him a better person. He usually fails, but still tries, and we can see that Charmander becomes more mellow because of this, either because he genuinely wants to become better or because he doesn't want Squirtle to be disappointed. It goes to the point where Squirtle seemingly sees Charmander's actions as his own fault just as much as it was the fire-type's, which he says in his episode 9 speech:
"How did I ever thing I was making a difference with you, you took so many innocent lives, and all I did was stand there!"
"… We were supposed to be a team, Charmander, but you were only in this for yourself and I couldn't fix you. But thanks to them I can finally fight back!"
He lectures Charmander alot, but he never actually fought him. He never genuinely tried to hurt him after they were on the same team, because he was the voice of reason. In his mind, this was him doing too little, and like always bam, he goes to the other extreme and does too much.
Like yeah, Caterpie did the finishing blow, but Squirtle did most of the damage, not just because of the type advantage, but because Charmander didn't seem to even TRY to fight back as soon as his friend showed up.
His flame was almost extinguished. Squirtle almost killed the guy, a mixture of him wanting to make sure Charmander wouldn't hurt anyone else, pent up anger and him wanting his friend to know what it was like to be on the other side of the fight ( "Oh, I'm sorry, did you want a turn?" "Seems kind of unfair, doesn't it?!").
In episode 10, he doesn't really talk about that part, he just says that he wished he could've done things differently at Turtwig's "you didn't just jump in and save him?" (Which implies that they probably heard a censored version of the story before, which highlights how much he shelters the kids)
And I think it's probably because he doesn't see it as THE issue. Again, he is aware that he does too little, which is his reason on going all out at everything else, something he never outgrew. Even at the end of episode 10, he has his big revelation, but it's still incomplete:
Again, he only realizes that he does too little. He did too little to save Chimchar, he did too little to stop Caterpie. Too little to stick by his own choices.
And caterpie was right in that flashback, I mean they also say some ouchie stuff, like how they pity whoever gets control of him next, but Squirtle sees this moment as him doing too little. Caterpie, however seems to understand that it's a mixture of both too little and too much:
It's not just 'You let me do whatever I wanted', it's also 'you gave me complete loyalty'
They also seem to at least somewhat understand why he does it, out of fear.
And Squirtle goes back to his pattern, but this time seemingly about his own self preservation and his guilt.
He's first, willing to go back, doing what he was told like he's a soldier again. It's the best thing for his self-preservation, but for him and his morals/ideals? It's a step backwards.
Then he has his revelation, and he goes all in, clearly screaming at the other pokémon as if he was screaming at himself. Not just that, he goes all in and bam, not only finally evolves, but legit kills the guy.
And the most important aspect of it all in this scene:
"If I'm gonna make bad choices, they're gonna be my own."
Because after this, yeah the episode pretty much ends, but he does not go back to the old song and dance. Squirtle usually follows his pattern of too little, too much, too little, too much,…
And he did the "too much" aspect, so you kind of expect him to calm down a bit, but he doesn't.
He looks at his dead kid, he talks about how if he had evolved he would've given them hell (Which let's be honest, it's not true at all. I do think he was already seeing the kids for who they were a bit, but it was clear that he was still putting him in that "Charmander" box. No offense to Chimchar, but Abomasnows are at least level 40, he was at most level 13.)
Anyway, he talks to his frozen body, and instead of going back to his "too little" thing, he remains on too much, and this is one of his biggest to date: he literally goes and decides 'actually, I'm sick of this, I'm gonna go up there and fight the gods or die trying. No I don't have a plan, no I don't know what I'm gonna ask them yet, what of it?', which was cool as hell to see, but let's be honest here, half of his main problem is still alive and stronger than ever.
"Okay, Babz, but what does this have to do with the sounds between episode 9 and 10?"
I'm getting there.
So they were going up Mt. Coronet, and Wartortle is going up there because he wants to talk to the gods, and in that mountain there are three: Arceus, Dialga and Palkia. It's where Arceus made those two even.
And yeah, Arceus is all powerful, but I'm gonna focus on Dialga here since them and Palkia are pretty much the mascots of the Sinnoh region.
Dialga is the god of time.
Time began flowing when they were born, and they can turn back the clock.
(Like okay Super Smash Bros trophys are not the best place to look into but this was the quickest example I could find so bear with me):
If you're ever running late, maybe you could ask Dialga to turn back the clock… Just a little bit?
Arceus in recent stuff is shown to turn back the clock too, but idk if that should be considered.
Anyway, what I'm saying is, turning back time is something Wartortle could potentially do if he wanted, especially if he wins a fight. It's extreme, sure, but the guy is still in his "too much" gig, so if given the possibility he would most likely accept it without much thought.
And yeah, again, this is mostly speculation. I was thinking about alot of this since last year (a bunch of ppl here were also talking about possible time-travel, but like me, it was mostly in a "cool idea"/"fix it au" kind of context), but since there didn't seem to be foreshadowing aside from the character arc and location (which again, can JUST be a character-arc, it's not just bc something CAN happen that indicates that it WILL), I left it alone for the most part.
But idk these little sounds almost seem like a clue.
And okay, I'm mostly someone who focuses on themes when talking about story theories/possibilities, and episode 10's is, again, centered around time and regret. Regret for the past, not enough time to change it fits a little too neatly you know?
The fact that episode 9 ends on a cliffhanger also doesn't help. At the time it came out I was not just wondering if Charmander was still alive, but also WHO was stabbed. It was one of the reasons why I was so interested when ppl started talking about "what if Squirtle was the one who was stabbed" scenarios and drew/wrote stuff for the shiv au, because back when the episode came out I genuinely thought it was a possibility and I wanted to explore it.
Anyway, this could all be wrong lmao, but I missed talking about the silly warcriminal starters so eh sfgdfhhdf

For most Squirtle Line Pokemon in the Papa Meowth AU I'd just pick abilities at random, but I have actual Plans for the Squirtle Squad leader and May's Squirtle/Wartortle.
Squirtle Squad Squirtle has Speed Boost, Swift Swim and Motor Drive so his whole thing is Speed now. Also Maria catches him instead of Ash.
Meanwhile May's Wartortle has a new ability I came up with called "Liquify" which is a Water-Type version of Pixelate and Refrigerate. Because it just makes sense to me for there to be a version of those abilities for every Type.

Bursts through the door then neatly fixes it back up again
Any hc’s you can spare us for the Starlight trio? 🫣
MY DOOR!!— oh. Oh, okay, thank youuu here have some trio stuffs 😊
Quickfire HCs!
❤ Cas has the most violent sounding sneezes
❤ Gabe and Luca like to pull silly faces at each other from across the room sometimes (if Cas notices them, they both pretend like nothing happened)
❤ Cas is lowkey scared of moths
❤ A few years down the line, Luca takes up ice skating / figure skating as a hobby
❤ Gabriel’s car is a classic muscle car in a deep burnt orange shade (like a Dodge Charger or something, idk, I don’t speak car), and he knows enough about automotive repair to work on it himself
❤ (Its the one thing Cas could never bring himself to insult when they were in their “enemies” era, bc Cas thought it was just objectively cool)
❤ CAS IS TICKLISH
❤ Gabriel is sometimes hit by an overwhelming urge to go floss his teeth, and if he can’t do it then and there he gets really annoyed and antsy
❤ All three of them grow out their hair at some point (not necessarily at the same time, but Cas keeps a bun for the longest time)
❤ Luca maintains that the single most supernatural thing about Gabriel is that he knows how to fold a fitted sheet
❤ Luca likes snuggling into Gabriel’s lap while Gabe is reading a book (he doesn’t read with Gabe, he just likes vibing in Gabriel’s calm)
❤ In fact, all three of them are HUGE on parallel play/body doubling. Sometimes ya just gotta be near the ones you love, while also quietly doing your own thing, you know?
❤ But that’s not to say they don’t do stuff together too. The next chapter coming up in SICSIG will feature Cas hooking up his PS4 to Gabe’s TV and he and Luca gaming together — there will be a lot of that sort of thing in their future.
❤ They also turn really dumb things into a competition (like who can carry the most grocery bags in one trip)
❤ Gabriel regularly has to put up with coming home to find out Cas and Luca have hatched a plan in their joint idiocy and they’ll have like… idk, bought a paintball gun and they are in the yard taking turns shooting each other with it lol (once Luca is past their trauma ofc)
❤ It takes a loooong time, but Gabriel eventually lets Cas bleach his hair (there are lots of Ken doll/surfer/himbo jokes) (he looks gorgeous bc of course he does)
❤ Cas still insists on doing his own hair for a good decade, he does NOT trust Luca with the bleach (for good reason), but he eventually lets Gabriel touch up the back for him
❤ After a few years Cas learns bass guitar so the three of them can jam together
❤ Luca collects socks with cute patterns and characters and stuff, but doesn’t wear half of them because of sensory issues.
❤ Cas has no such qualms, and will often steal Luca’s socks when he hasn’t got around to doing laundry. Please picture for a moment, if you will, Cas in his standard leather jacket and massive black boots, but secretly underneath all that, he’s wearing a teensy pair of baby blue socks with the Squirtle Squad on them.
Tumblr media
Longer, ramblier domestic trio HCs!
✨ Gabriel gets a little particular and fussy about how certain things are done — like, he had been doing things on his own, in his own way for years now. It doesn’t especially matter to him whether certain condiments are left on the second or third shelf in the refrigerator, it’s just force of habit that they go at the top. Cas quickly realises he has an entire household of mundane objects he can use to wind Gabriel up by always leaving them in slightly the wrong place. Making the bed marginally wrong. Not quite drawing the curtains all the way. Leaving a drawer just a teensy bit open. It drives Gabriel mad… but all three of them know they are only bickering for the sake of bickering, and it never gets old. (In fact, they actually look forward to it)
✨ Speaking of kitchens — Gabriel still very much loves to cook, both for a love of cooking itself and the connection it gives him to his father, but he loves taking care of Cas and Luca too! Cas complains a lot that Gabe keeps serving them vegan food now and then, but he’s still the first one to ask when the next time they are having tortilla soup is. There are a bunch of recipes Gabriel’s dad and grandma used to make, and it thrills him to no end that they turn out to be some of Cas and Luca’s favourites out of all the meals he makes.
✨ After living together for a little while, the boys quickly found out that they were all really into the idea of DIY? Gabriel really likes finishing details of interior design, Luca did a lot of little carpentry projects with his grandda in his childhood/teens, and for Cas, getting stuck in to gardening and exterior work is deeply therapeutic, rewarding, and reminds him of his life in South Korea with his grandparents. The Adalhard family home very much turns into a big renovation project (that takes them like a decade to really “complete”, though there’s always little things to be done, a room to be painted here, a window frame to replace there. They start with the garden planter boxes in the front yard —Cas’s initiative— and this is probably something you’ll see in future Starlight chapters!)
Gabriel likes to ogle Cas when he’s out digging in the gardens shirtless in the sun. He brings him iced tea and sliced fruit and stuff, it’s a bit cute :)
...hey this door is still busted FIX MY DOOR NONNY 💖💖💖

Episode 12 - Enter the Squirtle Squad!
Next up on the abandoned Starter list: Squirtle. In fact, there's a whole gang of abandoned Squirtle. (Salty Trainers mad about Moderate Difficulty Squirtle having trouble with Cerulean and Vermillion Gyms, no doubt.)
Team Rocket recruits the gang to capture Pikachu, leading to Ash yet again losing a fight he should rightly win. Despite their unimpressive Speed stat, Squirtle gets to move first and knock Pikachu into the river. Then Ash wastes his turn trying to Run Away from a wild Goldeen, only to fail and get Pikachu Horn Attacked.
The universe loves punishing Ash for trying to correctly utilize the Type Chart, while also rewarding him for making objectively bad choices. XD
The Squirtles let Ash go to buy a Super Potion for Pikachu, but he gets stabbed by a Goldeen and then knocked out by a Shigeru/Gary cameo. Which is absolutely hilarious because it implies that Gary's having just as hard of a time finding Vermillion as Ash is.
I would criticize Ash for not having any Potions on him while he's traveling, but I remember being 12 years old playing Pokemon Red for the first time. And I was like, "I'm gonna save my money for Poke Balls and just go back to the Pokemon Center whenever my Pokemon are injured. That's smart brain playing!"
So I get it. He's wrong. But I get it.
Team Rocket, meanwhile, are bad at their jobs. They're supposed to be looking for rare Pokemon, and here they are lobbing bombs at a gang of Starters. They don't get more rare than Starters. ...I mean, they do. Legendaries. Mythics. Event mons. But still. On the rarity scale, Starters are up there.
In any case, Squirtle goes with Ash. :) As of this episode, Ash not only has a complete set of Starters but a full team of six Pokemon. He's a proper Trainer now!

ok your thoughts?
love live girls main pokemon companion? or the mysme peeps? (whichever is easier to figure out)
Tell ya what. Love Live here and then I'll do MysMe on my MysMe blog!
Year first, youngest to oldest, then within each year it'll be smile->pure->cool!
u's
Rin deserves a cat Pokémon, but will she be allergic? I hope not. Because she would have a Skitty as her partner. An energetic and perhaps a bit erratic cat! It's considered rather feminine in appearance, and I think Rin would have liked having a cute, "girly" Pokémon when she was younger to help her with her dysphoria and to avoid teasing from kids who told her she looked weird in skirts :(
Hanayo is a soft-spoken girl who only seems to perk up around rice and idols. She's extremely shy and insecure, and she would either need a Pokemon who can soothe her or one who can speak up for her. I think a Jigglypuff would be ideal, because it loves to sing but it can also be really tough! Plus it's super cute and fluffy, which fits Hanayo.
Maki has an Audino! Her parents gave her Audino because of their association with hospitals and healthcare in certain regions, but this Audino turned out to be an amazing help for Maki's pursuit of music! Audino have extremely sensitive hearing, so helping Maki with tuning her piano and fixing rough spots was easy.
Honoka has major Growlithe energy, since she's fiery and headstrong and determined. Her Growlithe keeps her from doing anything too dangerous.
Kotori OBVIOUSLY has a bird. Swablu is perfect with its fluffy, cotton wings for our baby bird seamstress! But when it evolves, it's surprisingly powerful, much like how scary Kotori can be when she's serious!
Umi has to have a water type, of course. I propose Oshawott. It's cute and spunky, which probably helps Umi smile and laugh. However it evolves into a samurai, which is fitting for our traditional and honorable beauty!
Nico wants a Pokémon that can shine on stage with her. She builds her team around the concept of cuteness. But we know she bites. Mawile is a fairy type and quite cute... until the jaws come around!
Nozomi definitely has a Gardevoir. The spiritual queen needs a psychic type! Plus, Ralts are good at soothing emotions, which I'm sure she needed as a kid when she was constantly moving around and painfully lonely without any friends. :(
Eli grew up with a Snorunt she received from her grandmother. Now she and her fully-evolved Froslass can dance together elegantly with their thawed hearts!
Aqours
Hanamaru has a name that literally means "flower circle." I propose an Oddish, which is very much a round grass type! Ultimately, as Hanamaru builds confidence as an idol and trainer, her Oddish evolves into Bellossom who dances alongside her!
Ruby would totally have a fairy type. But hear me out: Sylveon. She started with an Eevee like her big sister Dia, but her love was so strong she ended up with a Sylveon!! Trans icon covered in ribbons.
Yohane's best friend is an Absol. She's got horrible luck, but her Absol can sense disasters in advance to try to keep her safe! Plus, Yohane is edgy and would love a dark type.
Chika is the embodiment of the sun, if you ask me. We also know she loves mikans! Not quite an orange, but I think Cherubi would be a good companion for her! Once she evolves into Cherrim, I have no doubt she will spend most of her time in sunshine form because Chika is so radiant! (But it's okay to be in overcast form when you're struggling, Chika!)
You needs a partner who can brave the seas with her! As basic as this may seem, I think Squirtle would be perfect! We know they work well in squads, so Captain You should get along great with Squirtle as her first mate!
Riko, my sweet girl with severe depression. Miss Sakurauchi should have a grass type, right? I think Chikorita is a great idea! Meganium's aromatic flower can soothe emotions, and its breath can revive dead plants. I think Meganium could help "revive" Riko's spirits, too!
Mari is known for being shiny, but we mustn't forget she's lonely too. I like to picture her with a shiny Zoroark. She found a lost and scared Zorua on her family's huge lawn, and she took the little baby in. Zoroark are fiercely loyal Pokémon, and they will use illusions and intimidation to keep enemies away. I bet... Zoroark has had to comfort Mari a lot during her loneliest times. Also Mari would 100% gush over her giant purple edgelord like it's the cutest creature in existence. Metalhead Mari my beloved.
Kanan obviously has a water type partner. She needs a Pokémon who can keep up with her on both land and sea, and so I think she'd bond with a Buizel from a young age! Once Buizel evolves into Floatzel, it can help rescue divers who run into trouble with its flotation sac!
Dia is elegant and refined. She's determined to make her family proud, and she's highly traditional. However, she's also devoted to her dear sister Ruby. Do you remember the Kimono Girls in Johto who each had an Eeveelution? That's why Dia and Ruby both started with Eevees! Dia's Eevee evolves into Glaceon, which suits our New Year's girl (and is even colored like a diamond). A bit cold, but loving and protective nonetheless.
Nijigasaki
Shioriko is extremely disciplined, perhaps too much so to the point where she comes across as uptight and controlling. I think she'd do well with a Medicham, which is elegant but also has sharp senses by training its mind & body with meditation & yoga!
Rina needs an Espurr. I cannot emphasize this enough. Do I even need to explain this?
Kasumi is another idol who thrives on her cuteness. I have to go with Fidough. It's a PUPPY made of BREAD. Mia teases her about that relentlessly.
Shizuku has to have a water type, since her idol icon is raindrops! Starting with a Popplio makes sense, since it's got a lot of tricks and skills to show off on a stage, and a fully-evolved Primarina is perfect to join Shizuku in a musical!
Ai is a ball of energy and laughter and fun. I can totally see her and Misato having a Plusle and Minun, respectively, as they start their journeys together! (Misato needed to wait for her health.) Plusle loves to cheer people and Pokemon on, using "Helping Hand" as needed for an extra boost. Is that not Ai?
Ayumu is a flower girl. Her songs and story are rife with floriography. Conceptually, I think Hoppip would be perfect. Much as Ayumu sings about moving forward one step at a time towards her dream, Hoppip can join her for a hop(pip), skip(loom), and jump(luff)!
Setsuna is the embodiment of fiery passion. She pours her heart and mind into everything she does. I know it sounds basic, but I love the idea of her having a Charmander. They kindle each other's flames and keep the other going. Plus, she's deeply into superheroes (the super sentai type), and I feel like Charizard would be perfect to help her reenact some crazy scenes. She has a big presence, and who fits that better than Charizard?
Lanzhu is a queen and she won't let you forget that. However, she is also associated with angel imagery. I think she'd grow up with a Togepi and then a Togetic, but Togetic refuses to evolve into Togekiss until Lanzhu finds peace and kindness in her heart.
Kanata needs a nap. While Drowzee may come to mind, her idol symbol is a sheep. I think she'd be wonderful with an Ampharos. It evolves from little sheep (Mareep and Flaafy), and its light is so bright that it can serve as a lighthouse or otherwise as a beacon for those who are lost. Kanata is always tired because she overworks herself as a devoted big sister; she wants to be the light that leads others to their dreams.
Mia would receive a music-related Pokemon from her parents, given her role as a member of a prestigious musical family. I can see her with a Chatot who's just as sassy as she is. Chatot helps her with composing new songs but also parrots all of the cursing that Mia does when she's struggling. Oops.
Emma has a Skiddo named Neve and I do NOT accept criticism! She doesn't need her Pokemon to be super strong--she just wants to be friends with her Pokemon! She can ride her Skiddo while singing, like a traveling bard.
Karin is beautiful, cool, and competitive. She's kind of a dork with a horrible sense of direction, too. I can see her with a Lopunny, as a strong, elegant counterpart who also has a soft & cute side. Specifically with the ability Klutz.
Liella!
Natsumi has a Persian she raised from a Meowth. She isn't a very good trainer, but at least Persian is independent enough to best some weaker trainers. Uses Pay Day a lot for quick cash.
Kinako is fox-coded, as her symbol indicates. Most fox Pokémon tend to be sly or cunning, but our country girl Kinako is as sweet as they come. I could see her with an Eevee that comes to the city with an Everstone, but later Kinako takes off the stone as they grow together. Eevee evolves into Espeon because of her friendship.
Mei loves cute things and people, but because other kids fear her "scary" face, she would get an equally "scary" Pokémon because she'd think cute ones don't suit her. I can see her with a Houndour... who happens to love belly rubs and whimpers when you won't play with her.
Shiki insists her Beldum is the cutest Pokémon in existence from the moment she catches them in her "lab" as a child. As a Metagross, they're even cuter. Don't ask about how Shiki uses her steel/psychic partner for science experiments. Don't. :)
Chisato MUST have a round Pokémon! Maybe a Bounsweet who evolves into an AMAZING dancer Tsareena!
Sumire needs a space-themed Pokémon so she can be the best coordinator in the galaxy! Cleffa (eventually Clefable) seems like the natural choice! How could anyone NOT want to watch a pair of cutie pies shine on TV?
Keke loves pandas, but that seems too... cliche. I think she'd have a Snubbull partner! People judge Snubbull at first glance because of appearances, but they're loyal, determined, and loving Pokemon. Keke looks like a happy-go-lucky and carefree girl, but her burning passion and dedication to idols is beyond everyone's expectations. Also she's a star student. How. Girl. Share your secrets.
Kanon grew up with her family's Rowlet! Rowlet is a quiet little guy, storing energy during the day and flying silently with ninja-like attacks. Kanon is someone who chooses to stay quiet after she thinks her dreams are over, but she's also a reserved, anxious person in general. I can see her sitting in the sun "photosynthesizing" with her Rowlet. They grow stronger together, but even Decidueye lurks in the shadows and stays silent. Don't make either of them do public speaking, please.
Ren loves her Stoutland Chibi dearly, but Chibi is not a battling type. She actually has a Sinistea as a partner! She poured some tea and left it for a moment, and in a large, lonely, empty house like hers... a spirit was all too willing to inhabit her cup. But she didn't mind the new resident in her manor, where the emptiness is oppressive. Two lonely souls who became unlikely friends. (And of course hers is antique)

#JustJonahThings — Pokémon
Type: Water and Ice
Starter: Squirtle
Favourite: Lapras
Trainer Class: Professor (future)
While he may fight on the occasion if need be, Jonah usually avoids it. He’s prefers to explore, research and catalogue different types of Pokémon rather than battle and only catches and trains ones relevant to his interests.
Main Dex:
Glaceon (Ice) - Eevee evolution. Jonah was almost frozen when he first encountered Glaceon's snowfall as it has the ability to freeze the atmosphere around it, but quickly snapped out it and caught it soon after. He’s fascinated by how it can completely freeze its fur to make hair stand out like needles as a form of protection.
Milotic (Water) - Initially a bit upset when his Feebas evolved, Jonah didn't care much for Milotic's beauty but seeing as it has the ability to calm any angry feelings, he now treasures it because he too would prefer to not fight and just peacefully live at the bottom of lakes.
Alolan Vulpix (Ice) - After getting lost in the snowcapped mountains of Alola, Jonah was luckily guided out by a Ninetales, but a curious little Vulpix followed him back. With icy breath reaching up to -58 degrees Fahrenheit and fully fascinated by how small ice particles spring up from its hair when looked at under a microscope, Jonah happily added this Vulpix to his dex.
Magikarp (Water) - Jonah very much identifies with Magikarp as he too just flops and splashes around amounting to not much. But despite the 'useless' connotation associated with Magikarp, it actually is a very hardy Pokémon that can survive in any body of water no matter how polluted it is.
Corsola (Water/Rock) - With Jonah making the study of Coral his life's work, of course Corsola would be in his dex. Found in the clean Southern Seas, this Pokémon has the ability to shed and regrow the branches on its head and has been great help with research.
Squirtle (Water) -  With the ability to launch incredible water attacks and swim at high speeds, this tiny turtle had his heart from the beginning. While he caught and evolved other Squirtle's, the starter he chose remains unevolved and he'd never abandon it (but he did buy his Squirtle cool sunglasses after they encountered the Squirtle Squad)
Wingull (Water/Flying) - One among his many catch, study and release Pokémon, Jonah was interested in its flight and how it uses the updrafts of wind to make it seems like its skating across the sky. He’s caught many Wingulls too, as they are extremely useful to spot where fish are.
Not pictured but important:
Lapras (Water/Ice) - With Jonah being a gentle and helpful person by nature, it wasn't surprising he'd gravitate towards Lapras. With its ability to understand human speech and himself having played a part in conservation efforts to bring the species back from near-extinction, Jonah and Lapras just want to help people.
Suicune (Water) - Having the power to purify polluted water with just a touch, Suicune is a Pokémon that if Jonah even just saw it, he'd consider his life made.
