#But it's done I guess so theres that.
Finished Lesson 20
I'm sort of in a mix between disappointment and bemusement. Either it's a subpar ending or I just outgrew Obey Me but I give it a C-/10
I'm like mad we're still stuck here. How much you wanna bet we never work on our Pacts/Go back to the Future again?

Headcanon i've had for a while now about how minecraft hack clients could work, similar to the headcanons about how in game chat would work.
Just sort of an explanation with some examples, obviously some hacks are pretty hard to translate into a physical thing, but i tried my best. :)
Full text can also be found under read more.
"Hack Clients" are illegal modifications of a player's attire (i.e. player skin) in order to give them an unfair advantage. The visibility of a "Hack Client" modification depends on the server a player is on. On servers such as 2b2t, these modifications are obviously visible while on stricter servers, such as Hypixel, hackers will try to be more subtle, often hiding modifications underneath clothing.
Eyewear: Modified for use of visual hacks (i.e. x-ray. fullbright, esp, etc.), the easiest to hide from moderators.
Footwear: Modified for use of hacks such as Anti-Knockback, High-jump, and other similar hacks.
Mechanical Braces: Used to allow players to move with otherwise impossible reaction times, most often used for PVP. Completely illegal on most servers, players will attempt to hide them underneath clothing but often fail.
Leg brace: Used for b-hopping.
Arm brace: Used for kill-aura and aimbot.

Soooo, funny story. @heckitall started a very cool crossover between the Rise and 03 TMNT and I. May have. Immediately became invested.
Like. I was worried for days about one of the characters. Soooo I made some fanart. And then couldn't decide which version I liked best, so I dunno. Here's three! With bonus detail shots under the cut.
It's called 'Same as it Never Will Be' and is linked in their pinned post!
Images 1-3: rendered illustrations of (on the left) the cast of TMNT 03, and toddler versions of Rise Leo and Donnie. 03 Raph and Leo are in the foreground, holding injured Rise Leo and Donnie. R!Donnie is biting 03 Leo, while squirming and reaching to the right, and holding R!Leo's hands. R!Leo is being held by an angry 03 Raph. In the background, in the TMNT 03 lair, 03's Splinter, Casey, April, Leatherhead, and an injured Mikey are looking on in various stages of amusement or resignation.
On the right is an illustrated render of the Rise cast meeting up after the events of the movie. R!Raph and Mikey are in the foreground, with Raph holding a toddler version of 03!Donnie, who is upset and reaching toward the left. Mikey is also upset, and gesturing at Raph. They are both visibly injured and battle damaged. In the background of a destroyed New York, scuffed up R! April, Splinter, and Casey Jr are running and swinging their way towards Mikey and Raph, all looking visibly distressed.
Both illustrations are framed and bordered by white-gray mist, with ripple patterns overlaying parts of the whole image. The title of the work and authors name ( 'Same as it Never Will Be' and Heckitall) are written on the bottom border in purple text with blue spray paint effect behind them. Between the two illustrations is a representation of a portal with the the abbreviation of the title (SAINWB) in white over top of it.
There are small differences between images 1-3 in terms of lighting and coloring effects.
Images 4-7 are detail shots of the two illustrations with some lighting effects removed.

"snow hates katniss because she's lucy gray reincarnated" well no. it's not magic, not some kind of prophecy, not a saga of one family that's fated to overthrow the regime. katniss *isn't* lucy gray, she's just a girl. that's the point. she's nobody.
except that she is lucy gray. not *actually* but in spirit, in her actions. because what lucy gray and katniss -- and snow himself -- prove is that nobody can be truly independent of their community. snow wants to believe (he is taught to believe) that we are all ungenerous, calculating, power-hungry. that we all value ourselves above all else, that we could never love selflessly because we are, at our core, selfish. so when lucy gray shows him that doesn't have to be the case, it terrifies him. and so, in his fear, he kills her, hoping that will kill the doubt she seeds inside of him. kill the source of the doubt, kill the doubt itself. prove to yourself that love is selfish. win at the game that you yourself created -- snow lands on top.
and for years, you really believe that. you won. you steadily gain power, people show you the same story, over and over. and it twists you, warps you, into the calculating dictator you were told you had to be.
only then, decades later, another girl shows you the very same thing: true, unselfish, radical love. a girl who volunteers to die for her sister, who sings to her friend as she dies, would rather die than kill the boy she loves, and she's from the same place as the very person who first made you doubt it. you thought you'd killed that doubt years ago, but what you failed to account for was that killing lucy gray doesn't kill her love.
so katniss reminds snow of lucy gray, but not because she *is* her, but because she created something that can't be killed. it's not magic, it's art. it's no accident that katniss grew up singing her songs. lucy gray is dead, but her art lives on, and woven into that art is the love she showed snow all those years ago. her love can't be killed because it doesn't belong to her individually -- it belongs to her people. and it's nurtured in that community. it's in the art, the music, and thus in the people that live there. love becomes the soundtrack of an entire community, and then it lives on in their lives and their actions. it lives on in katniss' father who sings his way into her mother's heart, it lives on in haymitch who holds his ally when she dies, and then in katniss and prim and peeta and every person from district 12 who shows that same selfless, radical love. it wasn't fate, or destiny, or even one family. it's community. it's art. no man is an island. we cannot survive without love.

Ritsu doesn't respond to Shou's messages, not cause he's disinterested or doesn't consider him a friend, but because 90% of the time he forgets he owns a phone
Like from an outsider's POV Ritsu seems like he's cold towards him or mildly annoyed but in reality he's just introverted and hasn't had any friends before besides his brother
Whatever you think they feel for one another is mutual, whether it's friendship or love or just mutual understanding and sympathy
Like, I can see them argue and be annoyed with eachother's personality once in a while but they care. I like to believe this isn't my bias but canon fact, Ritsu wouldn't have agreed to help Shou otherwise
They understand eachother. Shou tells Ritsu his big ideas and Ritsu understands how he's come to that conclusion and gives criticism and Shou listens to him. Because he knows it isn't an insult, he knows its genuine advice, he knows Ritsu actually listens and wants to help
That has its shortcomings as well, I think they're overestimating how well they understand eachother sometimes, there's a certain degree of projection happening. Their situations are similar but very, very different
What I'm trying to say is that they don't hang out that often but ten years post canon Shou could call Ritsu up after they haven't spoken in forever, unsure if he even has his number anymore, ask for help and still receive it. That Shou would let Ritsu crash on his couch after he impulsively quits his job even if months passed since their last conversation. It's not about personality compatibility with them, its about trust.

its really starting to bother me that theres so little to be done for karlach in act 3. like when you first meet dammon he seems so hopeful about finding a solution. he runs through a bunch of ideas and says he cant do anything with the tools he has but he'll keep looking. and then when you meet him in act 2 hes says he cant think of anything but he'll keep trying. and then in act 3?? all he says is that he cant find a solution. theres no way to ask him what research hes been doing. no way to try and do any research yourself.
karlach's companion quest basically ends in act 2. you get that second upgrade and it doesn't make a difference to the way her endings turn out. yeah you can touch her, but that's it. theres still only two 'good' endings for her character.
and it feels like theres so much we should be trying to do? the steel watchers are made of infernal iron. every single watcher has a piece of infernal iron you can collect. some of them even have enriched infernal iron. and apart from the armor dammon can make... there's nothing else to be done with those pieces? even the enriched infernal iron doesnt seem to serve a bigger purpose.
i feel like i should be able to talk to the gondian gnomes for help. they built the steel watchers, which are made of infernal iron and can blast hellfire at you. we can literally go to hell and theres no way to look around or ask about a solution. theres a magic tower with a locked vault and no way to look for magic to nullify/contain the heat.
also we cant talk to karlach about going to stay in the house of hope? i know one of the endings is that she can go to avernus with wyll but shouldn't we be able to suggest she can stay with hope? who's literally trying to make a place of hope in the middle of the hells? theres even portals in one of the rooms to a bunch of places. she could come and go as she pleases. we already have the means to visit if we want.
like i get it the whole point is that shes doomed from the start tragedy etc etc but it still sucks that we can't at least try to do more when it feels like theres so many ways we should be able to

so many people just hear "dick was a cop" and go "eww im gonna pretend i didnt see that" and like. if its just bc you cant handle the subject matter thats one thing, but often times its just. performative. especially because the actually storyline is so much about dick trying (and as far as ive gotten to reading so far, failing) to make a change in the system and be a "good cop". it's an extremely heavy but genuinely very interesting storyline. dick does find other "good cops", but they're very much the minority and usually keep their heads down, because cops are bastards and will ruin the lives of "fellow officers" who try and do things right. they try to frame dick for murder at one point and everything.

i've also developed such a preference for hand sewing (vs machine sewing) primarily because i can do it in bed but also because i really genuinely enjoy the slowness of it and the knowledge that every seam and stitch has been done well because i've had to slowly go over it inch by inch with just my hands and a needle and thread. but when i say slowness i guess it's relative because it's gotten to the point where i'm able to completely handsew (and hand-finish all the seam allowances) a shirt in about 12~ hours of labour, and a pair of pants in probably about 24~ hours spread out over the course of a couple days.
compared to the speed i can machine sew something those numbers are 'slow', but if machine sewing i can sew a long sleeve shirt in like 4 hours and still hand-finish all the seams in that same time frame bc i prefer hand felling as a seam finish compared to serging or zig zag etc. i'm quite proud of how fast i can do these things now w/o compromising quality.
