Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman could share a lot of villains, and I don't mean the mythological ones, I mean ones like King Kull, Blue Snowman, Egg Fu, Mr. Banjo, or Paper Man.

LGBTQIA+ characters in DC Comics
These are characters who have first appeared or been revealed as LGBTQIA+ over the last year, or whom I’ve recently learned about or whom I hadn’t mentioned in previous posts of this type (though I may have featured them on my old blog). As usual, this list is highly arbitrary and incomplete.
(Yeah, I know DC Comics isn’t the only game in town, but for the time being it’s the only one I regularly read, so…)
Alysia Yeoh [she/her; trans]
Apollo (Andrew Pulaski) [he/him; gay] & Midnighter (Lucas Trent) [he/him; gay]
Aquaman (Jackson Hyde) [he/him; gay]
Artemis [she/her; probably lesbian or bi]
Aruna Shende [accepts all pronouns; fluid]
Batwoman (Kate Kane) [she/her; lesbian]
Bia [she/her; trans]
Blue Snowman (Byrna Brilyant) [unclear; genderfluid]
Continuing the tradition from my old blog (which has been unceremoniously deleted by tumblr without much of an explanation why) I’m doing daily posts during June to celebrate LGBTQIA+ pride by showcasing openly LGBTQIA+ celebrities and various content about or created by LGBTQIA+ people such as music videos, characters on TV shows, movie trailers, …

Wonder Woman Villain Movie Ideas, Part XI: Blue Snowman
Byrna Brilyant AKA the Blue Snowman is Wonder Woman's rendition of "ice-based enemy," this time in the form of the child of an inventor who had been creating a substance called Blue Snow for the good of humanity, who had died in the process of making it, and the child had decided to use it for self-serving purposes, freezing a farming town's crops and extorting them for money to un-freeze them. While originally a woman who wore a more masculine suit to disguise her identity, comics within the last couple of years have retconned them as gender fluid, with the masculine costume part of their gender presentation.
Origin Movie: It's a bit difficult being one among many of the same type of baddie, and very much not even being in the top three of that type. With Mr. Freeze, Captain Cold, and Killer Frost all being more necessary to adapt, it's hard to find a good movie concept for them that wouldn't just be a weaker retread of one of their stories. And so, for an origin, I'd just have to go with a basic: Wonder Woman has left her island and is exploring the beauties of the world, only to find someone destroying all of that for money.
Sequel Movie: Since their concept is not inherently tied to Wonder Woman's concept, naturally a sequel fits better for pacing, just like Cheetah or Giganta or several other bigger villains. But, in that is the rub of "Why wouldn't you do one of those villains then?"
Finale Movie: Like several other smaller, more gimmick-based villains, your first thought here is "Really? Of all the villains, that's the one you decided to end on?" Unless Byrna started setting their sights on speedrunning global warming, their typical schemes generally don't even get that big.
Supporting Villain: Honestly, I think the best place for them would probably be as a member of Villainy Inc. if I decided to include that in a series somewhere, because Villainy Inc. is a lot of fun.
Here's my rankings of them:
Supporting Villain: Because I'd love to see Villainy Inc. done well.
Sequel Movie: The best way to do them as a standalone.
Origin Movie: It's fine, it would just ultimately be derivative.
Finale Movie: Nah.

Five Frosty characters for NEXT December!
This season is the time of greetings, joy, and a visit from the big man himself. Christmas is my favorite holiday to celebrate with the family. Watching all those old Christmas movies I have come to enjoy is fun. I love drinking eggnog and eating cookies.
I will show you five frosty characters from DC and Marvel comics to celebrate the occasion.
NUMBER FIVE: Blue Snowman
We are starting this list off with a fairly obscure enemy of Wonder Woman. Blue Snowman is actually Byrna Brilyant, an extortionist who disguised herself as a male criminal. She uses a high-tech mech suit to mimic the features of a snowman. It also enables her to fire cryogenic blasts to freeze her enemies solid.
What I love about Blue Snowman is how bewildering her concept is. She’s a female villain who disguises herself as a male supervillain. She’s not really a blue SnowMan by that logic. I also enjoy how modern her suit looks nowadays. I think it creates a nice fusion between the traditional snowman and a robot.
NUMBER FOUR: Mister Freeze
Mister Freeze is an iconic antagonist of Batman who uses a freeze ray to commit icy crimes. In reality, he’s a former cryogenics expert named Victor Fries, looking for a cure to save his wife, Nora. Freeze’s body was altered by a lab experiment, which forces him to wear a frozen suit to survive.
What I love about Freeze is that he has a level of humanity and nuance to him. He’s a genuinely good man who loves his wife and would do anything to save her. His goals often find him clashing with Batman, but he’s still a step above the usual moral ladder placated by Joker.
What makes Freeze even better is that his whole backstory was influenced by Batman: The animated series. The animated series helped Batman’s mythos grow in so many ways. Not only did it redefine Mister Freeze, but it completely changed the trajectory of his character.
NUMBER THREE: Captain Cold
Leonard Snart is another of DC’s iconic villains, but he has a twist. He’s instead one of Flash’s more popular rogues. In fact, Captain Cold helps lead a group of Flash villains named The Rogues.
What I love about Cold is that he has a different method of freezing people. His ‘Cold Gun’ does not just freeze things, it grinds molecules to a halt and stops all movement. It’s proven useful in helping slow down Barry Allen when the two come to blows.
I also enjoy how Captain Cold also lives by a code of conduct. This also goes for the rest of the Rogues as well. The Rogues do not murder people, even superheroes. They are not heartless bastards, and this code helps show that. I believe it also shows that Captain Cold is not as Cold-Hearted as he thinks.
NUMBER TWO: Killer Frost
This is where things get Frosty.
There have been three different Frosts throughout the history of the DC Universe.
The first Killer Frost was not even Killer, she was actually Crystal. Crystal Frost was the antagonist in the original Firestorm. This was partly because she hated Martin Stein for not reciprocating her feelings. By accidentally locking herself inside a thermofrost Chamber, she was able to absorb heat and project ice. This also enabled her to feed off of Firestorm’s ability. However, too much power is a bad thing. This ability to absorb heat led to her absorbing too much energy from him and dying.
The second Killer Frost is perhaps the most notable incarnation of the character. Her name is Louise Lincoln, and she was a friend of Crystal Frost. After Crystal died, Lincoln decided to repeat the same experiment and became Killer Frost. Unlike Crystal, Lincoln was insane and often murdered people for no reason.
Lincoln’s successor, on the other hand, is far more reasonable. Caitlin Snow is an interesting case, as she first made her debut in the TV series, The Flash. This version of Killer Frost was created when she was ambushed by HIVE Agents. She was working on a Thermodynamics Engine at that point, and it had activated, merging her body with ice. Snow’s transformation into the Killer Frost caused her to become a heat vampire. Despite being drafted into the Suicide Squad, she would later prove to have a heroic turn. She’d join Batman’s Justice League of America, to help restore faith in the world.
What I love about Killer Frost is that her abilities work differently than your usual frosty foe. All three versions are able to absorb heat and use it as energy. Attacking them with fire does not work, it just makes them stronger. In particular, I like the Louise Lincoln version. She is the one I am most accustomed to seeing in media.
NUMBER ONE: Iceman
Iceman is one of my favorite X-Men characters, ranked on the list with Cyclops and Psylocke. Iceman is everything that you would want in an Icy hero. He has a sense of humor and always helps to lighten the mood.
Bobby Drake was one of the original five members of the X-Men. He did not have the same shiny ice body that he has now. Instead, his body would look like a vaguely humanoid-shaped snowman. Bobby’s been with the team as a mainstay character on many occasions.
His abilities also grew, and he’s even showcased his power as an Omega Level mutant. Traditionally, Omega Level mutants, like Storm and Magneto, are the ones with the strongest powers.
The series that introduced me to the cool-headed Iceman was Spiderman & His Amazing Friends. It’s an old series but I always used to watch it whenever it came on. I loved seeing Iceman’s transformation where he would freeze his body in an ice cube. He would then emerge from the ice cube in his superhero suit. I always thought it was cool, and I never questioned how that would work.
CONCLUSION:
Did you have a favorite frosty character that I missed? If so, feel free to comment. I hope that you had fun reading this, and remember, Stay Cool.
FYI:
- This post was made in December, a few days before Christmas.
- I took a holiday break and forgot about it. Sorry, guys!

After “DC Love Is A Battlefield” was released I felt compelled to write an article examining the history of Golden Age Wonder Woman villain Blue Snowman and how decades of transphobic jokes led to the character being identified as gender-fluid to put an end to it.

Note
Byrna Brilyant, the Blue Snowman, tries to be a more serious villain, but they are often stopped by people who want to take pictures of the snowman suit, resulting in a fun but wasted afternoon.
