‘Martine Moon’ debuts on Panel Syndicate
Darko Macan and Goran Sudžuka’s new comic is about a ‘beautiful, bold and only slightly bitchy’ socialite who battles ‘aliens, gods, terrorists and scum from every corner of history.’

The old Star Wars comic "Lady Luck", which tells the tale of how Lando Calrissian managed to become the administrator of Cloud City (in the pre-Disney canon, at least), is a very entertaining read. One of the two authors of the comic, Rich Handley, has been kind enough to put it up to read for free here, together with some fun commentary on its creation. I highly recommend it.

CHEWIE!!! May the 4th be with you!
This May 4th we highlight everyone’s favorite woolly character, Chewbacca the Wookiee -- or, as Princess Leia once referred to him as “this big walking carpet.” Trusty first officer of Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon, he is loyal, fearsome, and a Wookiee of . . . well, many words, but all of it unintelligible.
These images are from the Dark Horse comic book Star Wars, Chewbacca, produced as a limited series of four issues published from January 2000 to April 2000 (we only hold numbers 2-4). The story is written by Darko Macan. The credits for the issues shown here are as follows:
Issue No. 2: illustrated by Jan Duursema and Dave Gibbons, penciled by Dusty Abell, inked by Jim Royal, and colored by Color Graphix, Angus McKie, and Dave Nestelle. Issue No. 3: illustrated by Martin Egeland and Kilian Plunkett, penciled by John Nadeau, inked by Jordi Ensign, and colored by Dan Jackson, Color Graphix, and Dave Nestelle. Issue No. 4: illustrated by Rafael Kayanan, penciled by Dusty Abell, inked by Jim Royal, and colored by Heroic Age and Dave Nestelle.
Our copy is a gift from our comic book consultant Jim Lowder.

Quote
I love short stories. And short comics. I love everything I can start and finish in one day. Everything made that way is cut from the same cloth. Everything that takes longer than a day (...) is already a process where every morning I have to remember who I was when I started the story. Everything that takes longer than a day looks dangerously like work. Work is paid; short stories, rarely.

18+ 616 Steve/Tony Discord Book Club: Captain America: Dead Men Running
Tumblr media
Hey, Tumblr! You remember when I used to post regularly about the 616 Steve/Tony Book Clubs we run on Discord? Wasn't that great? Well, here I am again! You are invited to come read Captain America: Dead Men Running with us!
This week, we are reading Captain America: Dead Men Running, a three-issue miniseries from 2002 written by Darko Macan, with art by Danijel Žeželj. This miniseries has never been reprinted in paper and it's so obscure in fandom that even the Marvel Wiki has no information about it other than the release date, cover art, and creators. (The cover art is by Derek Hess.)
Dead Men Running features Steve parachuting into the Colombian jungle to rescue stranded American soldiers who are protecting a number of children, all of whom are being chased by heavily-armed men trying to kill them. But something about the story the soldiers are telling Steve doesn't add up, and when it turns out the soldiers are really, really not the heroes of this scenario, the only thing they can do that will make Captain America keep his mouth shut about their crimes is... murder him.
The entire comic is strange and unsettling and you are invited to come read it with us. This is one that's going to stick in your brain for a while.
Come join us on You Gave Me A Home, the 18+ 616 Steve/Tony Discord server! Currently we are a Level 3 Boosted server, so that means that our custom invite link is discord.gg/stevetony, because that's just how awesome we are.
