a/n: wifey @queenmeriadoc requested “how elves comfort you when you’re missing your family” and I tried my best to deliver! you know the drill - lemme know how you liked it, reblogs and comments are extremely appreciated and the ask box is open 😊💖 i’m excited/nervous bc it was my first time writing for most of these characters! 👀

GALADRIEL:

absolutely understands you because she was parted from many of her family members and close people

asks you whether you want to talk about something, you want advice or you just want her to distract you somehow

she will offer a shoulder to cry on if you need that

she will run her fingers through your hair

also she will pamper you the whole evening to try and chase the sadness away because she loves to take action as much as she can, especially when it comes to someone she loves deeply

she will bring you your favorite food or some magically calming herbal tea, run you a bath full of flowers and scented salts and all those fancy things

ARONDIR:

he is a great listener and you know you can open up to him about your sadness and nostalgia

you can see in his eyes that he is deeply empathetic

he will gently cradle your face in his hands and wipe away any tears that might appear

in order to cheer you up, he suggests a walk, because sunshine and fresh air always seem to work for him

the walk ends up being a hunt for the most beautiful flowers that he wants to pick for you

so gradually your tears turn to smiles and you end up walking back home together with a bunch of flowers in your arms and his strong arms around your shoulders

ELROND:

oh he completely understands how you feel and he literally tears up a bit when he sees that you’re sad

he will talk you through your feelings and try his best to advise you, but he knows that it can only help so much

his touch is feather light as he takes you to your quarters and he knows you well enough to know the best medicine for your sadness - a cuddle session

he will fiddle with your hair as you two talk, he will be the big spoon if you want him to, eventually he will pepper kisses onto any available area of your skin

if you drift away to sleep, he will still be there and hold you until you wake up, feeling a bit less sad

CELEBRIMBOR:

he doesn’t need to ask “is something wrong”, he can immediately ask “WHAT is wrong” because he can read you that well

he will definitely hold your hands and squeeze them in support while you’re spilling the contents of your heart out

if your family doesn’t live too far away, he will ask whether you want him to accompany you on a trip to them

if that isn’t an option for whatever reason, he is definitely taking you on a “trip” to the forge - he knows you like to watch him work so it will be a nice distraction to you

also maybe he will make you a little something special, suited just to your taste, like a hair accessory, to cheer you up even more

either way he won’t give up until he makes you smile

GIL-GALAD:

while you’re alone and pondering your feelings, he sneaks up behind you and envelops you in a warm hug

he will inquire about your thoughts and emotions in a comforting low voice - he knows exactly how to get you talking

he will immediately suggests going to visit your family if possible

but until then, he will make sure to have your favorite food made for you

and he will dance with you to nonexistent music, maybe hum a tune

and spin you around the biggest hall until your laughter starts echoing around it

also soft kisses are a must

a/n: I remember eunoiaastralwings and I had discussed this with Celegorm and his daughter. It was a nightmare and a blessing for him :)

Amazed by your ability to naturally attract animals from all over to interact peacefully with you. Sometimes, the both of you are lazing about and a few birds would swoop in or a squirrel would climb in. On mornings, they would see deer or bears outside waiting for you to greet them. It's worse when you see a dog or cat, it's quite the opposite and it's you running off the play with them. It still doesn't stop the dog or cat from giving you their affection. For them, it's a joy seeing you interact with nature. “Can you teach me how to get animals to like me so much?”

Jealous and hates whenever those little critters show up to steal your attention. It would happen so easily, it would take you some time to realise their jealousy. “Did you move our dates indoors because you're jealous of the deers?” “What? No, of course not!” “Okay, if you say so...” It's written all over their face.

They are relaxed as they observe you in your natural environment. You are at peace which means they're at peace. It's a mixture of adoration when they see you in your element and a tiny bit of annoyance because they're trying to spend time with you. “You're like an animal deity or something? They all flock to you like a beacon...you can even ask them to give us privacy.”

a fascinating, impactful thing about Elrond and Elros’s Choices to be Elf and Man respectively is that no way did they not start out Pretty Fucking Codependent. Since the age of 6, it’s been just the two of them surrounded by kinslayers, and then just the two of them surrounded by Gil-galad’s people and the Host of the West who don’t understand their many, many complicated feelings about the kinslayers. Like their parents before them, they are the only two half-elves alive in the world, completely alone but for each other. And their primary models for healthy relationships are Elwing “I will not let you suffer the wrath of the Valar alone” Dioriel, Eärendil “[I’m exhausted and want to leave but] My wife may Choose for both of us - immortality? Alright, babe” Tuorion, and Maglor “this is a terrible idea but I will not let you take further blood on your hands and Eternal Darkness on your soul alone” Fëanorion. There’s no way for them to have not been Pretty Fucking Codependent!

Yet still, still, for the love of boldness and fortitude and the mystery beyond the edge of the world, Elros chose to be a mortal Man; and for the love of wisdom and grace and the beauty of the world, Elrond chose to be an Elf forever in Arda; and as price, they both accepted that they would be sundered from one another until the end of all known time.

Ereinion & Elrond in Lindon and the ,,happily married, but on different sleep schedules'' theme like: Elrond who wakes up at 5 a.m. , eats breakfast, goes to the hospital, does a ward round and stays there for two hours or something, then comes back and still has time to sort out some papers or drink tea before the morning council and then there's Ereinion, who wakes up a quarter (half of an hour at best) before the council starts, barely has time to dress up and brush his hair, puts on shoes at a run in the hallway (sometimes forgets until he's already all the way down at the council room's door and then he has no more time to go get them, so he just goes about his day barefoot, rapunzel-style) also ,,wdym I should eat breakfast after waking up? *genuine confusion''; somehow he has only ever shown up late at a council something like twice in his whole life and it was 2-3 minutes late, no one knows how he manages (no one including Ereinion himself) Ereinion & Elrond who always eat a meal together sometime between the noon and 3 p.m. (depends if they eat during a break or after the morning council) , but for Elrond it's a dinner and for Ereinion it's a breakfast Elrond who's kinda sorta worried about his boyfriend's (unofficial husband's) eating & sleeping habits bonus: Ereinion & Elrond sitting somewhere in the gardens at night and looking at the stars and it's nice they finally get to spend some time together, not-working, but also Elrond is already so exhausted that he is falling asleep on his partner's shoulder.

Gil-Galad as son of Russingon.

When Fingon finally delivered baby Ereinion, he was delighted when, after cleaning the child, he noticed traces of reddish hair on his little head, thus discovering that his son had inherited the hair of his beloved Nelyo, although the rest of the newborn was an exact copy of his own person.

However, although he is fascinated by this characteristic of his son, it becomes a problem when he has to hide it with Círdan, since there are not really many elves with red hair in Middle-earth, although the carpenter promises him that he will find a solution. Círdan, for his part, finds a recipe for a paste made from herbs with which he manages to dye the reddish locks of the young Ereinion so that he does not draw attention to himself. As he grows older, Ereinion wants to do the process himself, but it is usually a disaster. Círdan keeps helping him until he finally has to stop because someone else takes his place.

When Ereinion was courting Oropher, he inevitably had to confess to him the truth about his ancestry.

He confessed to him who his parents were, something that very few knew or were unaware of, even King Thingol himself.

He feared very much that his beloved would reject him since they were just beginning to trust each other after having spent the last year on each other's necks.

Oropher hesitated a little at the revelation, since it is not easy to digest that your lover is descended from the elder Fëanorian and Prince Fingon. However, he promises to keep Ereinion's secret as well as to help him with his hair, the latter with a laugh in his tone.

Ereinion just squeezes his fiancé in his arms and attacks him with kisses both careless and tender, Oropher for his part delights in his partner's touches before expressing his desire to see his future husband's reddish locks if that was possible.

When, after years of marriage, Oropher announces his pregnancy, they are both very happy but somewhat concerned about the features of the elfing on the way. He can't help but be relieved when Oropher introduces his son and he turns out to have inherited the distinctive Sindar hair, his husband however has a pout on his lips and mutters that he would have liked the baby to have reddish tresses all the same. Ereinion denies before kissing his husband while thanking him for little Thranduil. Oropher for his part continues to help his husband with his hair and as he grows, Thranduil is also getting involved, although his parents ask him to keep it a secret.

When Oropher leaves for Greenwood, he asks Elrond to help Ereinion with the matter, Elrond only nods to the consort of Gil-Galad.

At the end before the war of the last alliance, Gil-Galad no longer has time for such things, and after Oropher's death everything becomes even more irrelevant on the personal side.

When King Gil-Galad dies, he already has red hair.

However, no one dared to question Elrond and much to the now King Thranduil about it.

Can I ask for how would the elves react to the reader dodging their kisses?

They would assume you were being playful even though you could see the disappointment on their faces. Falling in line with your little game, they chase you about or pin you down and litter your face in hundreds of kisses while shouting along the lines of "How dare you dodge my kisses? Now try to dodge these!" For them, the entire ordeal would be considered a game and you simply being mischievous.
