Somewhere after the fifteen or twenty foot mark Siffrin goes from being normal about physical interaction (by Siffrin standards, so still not very) to oscillating wildly between "so averse to contact that he can be chased around by Bonnie asking to be picked up (they like to feel tall)" and "actually I need to hold my entire family like stuffed animals RIGHT NOW." This disgruntles the Odile.

Continuing to be back on my bullshit, I'm rounding out the year with the next installment of my Blue Beetle au nonsense or.

AKA @wazzappp 's Blue Beetle headcanons give me life and I'm yoinking them because. Everyone deserves a little body horror. As a treat.

(Well. Except for Oo'Li, by virtue of being the type of alien (yk more or less) that the scarabs are using for that sweet sweet basic DNA template)

Anyway, following my timeline of Jaime ending up with his second 'upgrade' after the reboot re: Khaji Da's last ditch effort to keep him from smashing into the ground of terminal velocity, Xiomara and Roma end up more buggified after their altercation with the Crimson Scarab in issue...2? I think, when their powers get drained, in the same vein of their scarabs getting inventive with ways for their hosts to defend themselves in power drain scenarios.

In keeping with their power-sets/specialities, Roma ends up with a scorpion-esque tail (yes ik that's not an insect but if she can manifest tentacles Im saying it counts) and retractable claws, while Xiomara has fully armored hands/gauntlets and extra insectoid legs

This is technically canon, but only in spirit; at the point of this occurring, Black would never say/admit/think anything good about Jenn but for the sake of stupid AUs I gave him a concussion XD Of course, she wouldn't believe him anyway, but it would catch her off guard because it's so out of pocket; him not using it to get away would also be confusing. 

"Under the Knife" AU (it's not actually an AU) blurb:

In this AU snippet, this is his breaking point where he finally gives up, as he's given a moment of mental clarity and realizes it's not worth it. With everything that's happened, the foggy thought that this angry human covered in cuts and dirt, holding his own knife to his throat even though it wouldn't do anything to him, is so far disconnected from how he feels with his head not full of commands and prompts, he doesn't even register the threat. "It is what it is".

If they keep going, sure he'd probably work out a win purely because he outlasts and outclasses her in strength and stamina--but she's outsmarted him in every instance. This wouldn't be any different. He feels it. Knows it.

In this moment, through glitching HUD and cracked lenses, he can see her eyes. The desperation and rage so intense they seem to glow, filled with light and thunder that he put there. In another life, this would make him proud--smug even--to know this force of will behind her eyes was his doing. These feelings exist because of him. For him. He'd driven her to this point and come out on the other side at her feet.

He was a failure, but that mattered so much less than the light of her eyes in this moment. With nothing else to lose, nothing left ahead, he let himself have this one thought because it was his. Only his, with no malice or command behind it, no ulterior motive for it to exist. Under the ash and blood, beneath the bruises and cuts he himself inflicted in their repeated scuffles with each adding more fury to the brilliant blue irises that pinned him down more assuredly than the knife ever could, he found beauty.

By his own choice, he would say as much, even if she would never believe him. That wasn't the point, however, so it didn't matter if she accepted this truth as it tumbled from his tired mouth. At least he knew it was his choice to speak. To say what he could manage through the horrid pain in his head.

And yet a flicker changed in those raging blue eyes--confusion--as short lived as it was. She wouldn't believe him--she DIDN'T believe him.

But that wasn't the point.

He didn't care.

He was tired.

"Well?" he went on when she failed to act. "Just get it over with already."

Honestly, I think it could be interesting having Thunder's siblings be old enough to at least interact with him before he left. Seems like a prime way to display how bad parents like Clear Sky turn their kids against each other if it benefits them sometimes- especially when they won't play their games anymore. Plus, it'd be interesting to see them interact with Sparrow Fur, and how she'd feel about them.

I think I've got an interesting direction in mind, to tie in the new family.

Clear Sky Baby Expansion: Draft 1

Thunder Storm is the firstborn. All others in his litter are stillborn, as previously stated.

Ages are shuffled around a bit in BB. Thunder Storm is looking at about 1 year old when he goes to train under Clear Sky, encouraged by his mother.

It's only here that he learns that he has half siblings. They're significantly younger, a little under 6 months.

Their mother is pretty clearly not close to Clear Sky, and treated like most other cats. Thunder Storm pieces together that her life was a lot better when his halfsibs were younger, but it seems like Clear Sky lost interest in them pretty quickly.

Something about this makes him uncomfortable; but he doesn't have the words yet to say that he feels like she has been used and discarded

NOTE: I am planning for the relationship between Thunder Storm and this character to be generally positive, but in a sad way. "I don't know how to say you deserve better without calling my dad a piece of shit."

Tiger Sky and Pale Sky, notably, do not carry their mother's last name. This is very rare for Tribe cats, it's customary to do an even split.

They're also both girls, since there's no stated gender.

Clear badly plays favorites, and has chosen Thunder Storm as his current favorite because he is the largest, most charismatic kit.

Thunder thinks the two younger kids are brats at first, but then realizes, that's the only way they get attention

I may have Pale or Tiger take the role of Fircone; Thunder thinks he's close with them, but they turned the minute they could get a step ahead in their relationship with their dad... and Tall Shadow merc'd them in the First Battle, not knowing that she was Thunder's half-sister.

Clear Sky is unfortunately very unkind to the surviving twin. "We all fought our hardest in the First Battle. If you had been stronger you might have saved her."

This also becomes a thing he uses as a method of control :/ "I'm just trying to keep you safe! I never want to lose another child like how I lost your twin! I hope you never feel what I feel!"

Tiger: "i guess i wont go hang out with my friends because it reminds my dad of my sister dying, which was actually my fault <:("

Tiger Sky will PROBABLY be the survivor because I like the name more.

Eventually Skystar has another litter, Rumble Sky and Lightning Sky (Note: still not named for their mother), after being betrayed by Star Flower.

It is noted that he did not even consider a name for the lost twin and it's pretty weird they have names related to Thunderstar.

Sparrow Heart betrays ThunderClan for SkyClan before the First Battle, and so definitely had to compete against both twins.

Hunter being from Shining Time makes interactions with Luz, Willow, and King all very interesting to say the least. Following some hc stuff I developed with pals when I watched TMR for the first time, Shining Time exists a bit more into the future than Sodor is. Around the time that TMR takes place (in my lore) it's the year 2000, and having TMR take place a little while before Hunter arrives means he would grow up in the 2000s with Patch and Lily (who would both be a good amount older than him as he'd be 6 when he first gets there and Patch and Lily would be abt 14-15 at that time since it'd have been around 2 or so years since TMR?) and be introduced to a lot more technology than Luz, Willow, and King would have. He's encouraged to try not to talk about the modernness of his hometown too much around his friends, after all Sodor's far in the past to him, he gets a bit of whiplash every time he visits them. Regardless though he loves it there and he loves living his life in Shining Time! It's a great little town with an interesting history that few know about.

Imagine, if you will, for maximum angst and found family (the angst is mostly just ways these could go bad).

Sif stressed? Curl around your friends. Having a task may help with the stress (or at least get his mind off of it). Task obtained: protecc.

Friends in danger because (I am making something up on the fly) of a forest fire or an earthquake? Sif in the way of the threat.

Tent Sif in hail.

Another thought. Sif just. Getting climbed on for a quick team getaway from a threat. Or even just he is large and can't help it. Someone makes a Steed joke. Sif laughs.

(Gentle exposure therapy. Reassign the big size with keeping his family safe. He'd be less stressed about it, at least.)

You swallow down the fear in your stomach and slowly move into the room, eyes wide as you try to find anything... any clue as to where that ghost could be. Your digital footsteps are almost soundless as you step over the dusty tiles of the darkened room, the dust not even stirring to disturb the set of footsteps in the dust...

Wait...

Wait those footsteps weren't yours.

Your eyes slowly follow the uneven trail of steps, the dread and confusion only growing as you start to follow them. It almost looks like the being that made these footprints was... limping? Staggering? You couldn't really tell... but all you knew was that the prints were uneven, dragging, and unstable. That knowledge only makes that shivering sense of dread grow worse, the tight feeling in your chest almost suffocating as you walk deeper into the room. The ominous hum of the digital machinery wasn't helping to ease the feeling at all, if anything it only made the situation even more haunted.

Creeeeepy....

You follow the steps toward the main panels controlling that device Cl4ve11 was hooked up to, your eyes darting around the polished equipment for any signs of the phantom kidnapper. Other than that swatch of white fabric over by the computers, and the weird footsteps, it didn't seem like there was anything else in here that connected to it...

Something shifts in your vision, just at the corner where the main terminal was. You whirl around, your digital heart hammering in your chest. The piece of fabric had MOVED. Not much, just a quick shift... but it had moved all the same. Your blood freezes as you stop dead in your tracks.

It was here.

It was RIGHT THERE IN THE CHAIR.

Your hands shake at your sides as you stare at the back of the furniture, the glow from the computer readings highlighting the entire thing in hues of blue and red. It was like something straight out of a horror movie.

What do you do?!
