Elbow Room in the Mountains (Guadalupe Mountains National Park)

Elbow Room in the Mountains (Guadalupe Mountains National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: At the El Capitan Viewpoint with a view looking to the north-northwest at El Capitan and Guadalupe Peak in the nearby national park. With this image, I decided to zoom in with the focal length and have the mountainside with the ridges and peaks fill up much of the image. There would be some blue skies and clouds above as more or less a backdrop for them.

A/N: Female reader, you see I'd die for her.
Day 11: Sensory deprivation
Word count: 1104
Warnings: smut, knife play, blindfolds, religious sextalk?
AO3 Kinktober Masterlist
The ghost of her touch lingered on your skin, that small caress on your thigh lasted only for a moment and it was gone again. Completely blindfolded, you weren't able to see the way she stalked around you. Completely bound to the chair, you couldn't reach out and search for her skin like you wished to do so desperately.
"Val…" your voice was small, uncertain, and your head whipped around when you heard her lightly chuckle from behind you.
Her hand patted your head for a moment and she was gone again. Despite your slightly heightened hearing, you weren't able to pinpoint her location. Not when she moved so silently. A true professional in stealth.
"What is it Princesa? You called." Her tone was slightly mocking and it shocked you when it came from directly in front of you. Valeria's fingertip guided your face to turn towards her. "Tell me what you want."
"You, Valeria. Always you."
"Aww, you're going to have to be a lot more specific." Her hand slapped onto your thigh and you jumped in your seat, stopped by the restraints.
"I want you to touch me. Please, Val."
"Mmm." She stalked around your right side, her hand trailed along with her. It went up your thigh, your arm until it settled on your shoulder. "Does my little Princesa want some touch hmm?" Her hand left your shoulder and suddenly it was around your throat. From behind you, she pulled your throat back against the chair and you couldn't help but let out a choked gasp.
Her grasp wasn't firm enough to choke you but enough to restrict you.
"Tell me what I want to know then."
"I- what do you want to know?"
"Confess your sins to me."
"I don't have any to confess."
She let go of you and moved away, you turned your ear to listen for any footsteps but once again it was in vain.
"No sins to confess?" She clicked her tongue to the right of you. Then you felt it, the tip of a blade against your neck. It forced you to look up and she spoke above you.
"You wouldn't lie to me, would you? Wouldn't lie to Our Lady of Guadalupe right behind me would you?"
"I…"
Valeria leaned over you, you could feel her presence closer as the tip dug into your chin just a little before she flicked it off.
"I'll ask you again. Confess your sins Princesa. Don't make me ask again."
"I-"
"Forgive me…" She corrected your starting.
"Forgive me Valeria for I have sinned."
"That’s what I want to hear." There was a devilish glee to her voice and you could imagine the smile on her face.
"I've lied… I've killed…I've lusted."
"Oh, my sweet little Princesa. We will have to punish you, won't we? But first, tell me who you have sinned for. Who do you lust for?"
"You Valeria, only you."
"I've trained you well, haven't I? I suppose I can be lenient. Just this once." Her lips on yours were like a lifeline. An anchor to keep you steady. You greedily took everything you could from her. You pressed yourself against her as much as you possibly could and whimpered when she pulled away.
"What was that? Are you being unappreciative?" Her voice was a blade far sharper than the one that pressed against your chest.
"No! No, I appreciate everything you give me."
Your heartbeat raced in your ears as you felt the knife press down on your shirt. With the flick of her hand, she cut through your button. Then came the next button and the next.
Your breasts flung free and she ran the flat side blade over your inner breast. Its cold surface made your breath hitch when it slid onto your nipple. It peaked and hardened and then you felt something wet on the other.
Valeria's lips.
You could imagine the sight of her, bent over you. Blade against your boob, lips sucking on your nipple. The coolness of the blade disappeared and you heard the sound of her placing it on the side table nearby. Valeria's hand replaced it and she started to need the breast. There was the sound of shuffling and you felt her body weight on yours. Her arm was on your leg while she positioned herself in between her legs.
You ached to see her like that, all on her knees, abusing your nipple with her mouth.
"I wanna see you." You breathed.
"No." Her response was immediate and you could feel her smiling into you. She was amused by the question.
Her teeth grazed over your nipple and you felt it push against it. A light cry came from your mouth and she started to lick where she had bit. Her hand grasped your breast tightly and pushed it to the centre of your chest. With a pop, her lips detached and the flat of her tongue ran over next to her hand. A long lick has it run up to your collarbone where she found the perfect spot to suck on.
And bite.
"Fuck Valeria." You cursed out and despite not seeing, your eyes squeezed shut.
"Too hard?" There was an element of seriousness behind her words even though they still sounded slightly mocking. She did actually care if it was too hard.
"I'm good- I just- ah you tease so much."
"Mmm." She resumed sucking on your throat and her hand ran down your body. She felt every curve, every inch she could with that hand until it slithered back up again. Her fingers touched your neck. It graced your check and then you felt them on the side of the blindfold.
Then her hand hesitated, then left. Perhaps she was testing you? You bit down on your tongue and your head lowered. There was a small click a moment later. Then she pulled the blindfold off. You blinked a couple of times, it was still dark. It was then you realised she turned the lights off to stop the light from hurting your eyes.
A small light came from her phone torch and you were finally able to see that familiar smirk of hers. His eyes checked yours for a moment before they flicked down to your lips. "Can I touch you?"
Her laughter was music to your ears as she shook her head.
"You just got your sight back and now you want to touch? Greedy girl aren't you?" She settled a hand on your thigh. "You have a lot to do before I think you have earned that."

So this is normally where I would go ahead and format one of my typical posts and show you the pics of me on top of the peaks I did: Chairback, Number Three, Number Four (yes those are the official names of those mountains), Barren, Big Moose, Couburn, Boundary Bald, and Kibby - all peaks in Maine that I did and got a photo of me with a trans pride flag at the top
Unfortunately, at the end of my trip up Kibby, I lost my phone, and since I hadn't backed up any of the photos from those 8 peaks, I can't do one of my normal posts. I could bombard y'all with details from that, and how it affected what peaks I've been able to do over the last month (yes this happened a month ago, my posts are SUPER backlogged), but honestly it kind of feels like a moot point
Suffice to say, this kinda fucking sucks. I put a lot of my time and energy into these projects of mine and whenever something like this does happen (very similar thing happened last year), it kind of feels like I wasted that time and energy
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut
This does give me a good opportunity to share a trip I did a wee bit ago that I never posted about! Back in December I went on a backpacking trip with some friends to west Texas with the intention of hiking Guadalupe and Emory, the tallest and most prominent peaks in the state respectively. We were able to hit Emory, but on the day we were supposed to do Guadalupe, a winter storm rolled in and no one had brought their winter hiking gear, so we had to bail on that
Honestly, I don't know why I never posted anywhere about this, I guess it just felt like anything I posted would feel incomplete to me since I only accomplished half of my intended goal, even though it's a *very* common thing in hiking/climbing to have to abandon your original goals and either adapt to new ones or, bail on your trip entirely
Anyhow, if y'all will excuse the dramatic change in tone, landscape and appearance, here's some pictures of me with a trans pride flag on the most prominent peak in Texas :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I have more nature photos to go along with that!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyhow, thanks for reading this far :)

Swirly Clouds in the Canaries The atmosphere and the ocean are fluids, both in constant motion. This motion is not always visible to the naked eye, but in the atmosphere, clouds can act like fingerprints for the movement of air. Three trails of whirling clouds formed downwind of the Canary Islands in this image, captured on March 19, 2023, by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) sensor on the NASA-NOAA Suomi NPP satellite. The cloud swirls are called von Kármán vortices, a distinctive pattern that can occur when a fluid passes a tall, isolated object. The fluid splits around the object, creating a swirling eddy downwind. Linear chains of these eddies are called von Kármán vortex streets. Von Kármán vortices routinely appear in satellite imagery. They can occur whenever an object interrupts air flow. In this case, they occurred as winds rushed past the tall volcanic peaks of the Canary Islands. Cloud vortices are often spotted downwind of isolated islands including near Guadalupe Island, near the coast of Chile, and in the Indian Ocean. Fluid dynamicist Theodore von Kármán was the first to describe the conditions under which these turbulent patterns occur. Von Kármán was a professor of aeronautics at the California Institute of Technology and one of the principal founders of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. NASA Earth Observatory image by Allison Nussbaum, using VIIRS data from NASA EOSDIS LANCE, GIBS/Worldview, and the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership. Story by Emily Cassidy.

Gold Medal Day on the Way to Guadalupe Mountains National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the north while taking in views across the Texas high desert present to my front. as I took in the more distant peaks and ridges of the Guadalupe Mountains and national park. I decided to angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward and create more of a sweeping view leading up to those mountains.

Mateo’s body was not yet cold when the sun’s first rays began slithering across the expanse of the Neon Museum— his spirit was tethered still, tied to his corporeal form as he waited for La Virgen de Guadalupe to claim his soul. The Cicerone, as She’d been called these days. Or was it the Guide? It was all bullshit, anyhow, none of it mattered now that he’d lost the battle in an attempt to win the war for his benefactor. Knowing all he did, he wouldn’t see heaven. Hell perhaps, if not Purgatory.
He laid there then, beside his body, waiting to be claimed.
That absolution would never come to him, though. Not as the sun’s rays crested the peaks of the clouds in the sky, that light splitting apart the dark of night and slithering across the darkened space of the Neon Museum.
What a shame he’d turned from the Navarro magic. Had he studied more than he’d slain, he may have found something of note about this curse— a man with such dedication to his convictions is bound to. But he didn’t and now his death would be a mere footnote in Kinich Ahau’s redemption; his revenge on those that had imprisoned him.
Still, this end is a beautiful thing, with the way the magic glitters within those tendrils of sunlight, golden gossamer searching and searching until they find purchase on the corpse of a broken man. As the light creeps over his body, a voice calls out to the Hunter’s ghost, what do you and the rest of these deniers give me but scraps? The call of magic was a gift from me to you and you’ve wasted it, and here I am now, hungry, chained to this world still...I’ll consume you still. I know not of being so wasteful.
Light covers his corpse, a blanket of warmth as he begins dissipating from this world, consumed by an ancestor so hungry for freedom. Mateo thought he’d be free from this curse, that he’d eradicate it and free the Navarros to come. And even there he’d been a failure.
Youve barely any magic in you, but I’ll take it. The other two, they’ll surely have more for me. For he has been communing with me for some time now and she has finally heard my call— I will be freed from my prison, and I will have all that I deserve, all that has been taken from me.
There’s a flash of light thereafter, blinding as a man is stolen from his afterlife. He’s gone soon after, his corpse and the phantom tethered to this very being, his story concluding with a silent voice, one he’d shielded his ears from for as long as he had heard it. As the final bits of his essence were siphoned by something other, he could only wonder, would there ever be an end to this damnation? Would the Navarros ever greet a sun that did not wish to immolate their very souls?
Tumblr media
At the other side of the museum some time after, a God is stepping through the veil, coming to collect the soul of a man who has lived a life poisoned by his own righteousness.
Typically these children were not hers to collect— the Guide was always less than careful when shepherding those that wasted a life needlessly slaying her own. Her grip was often tighter when chaperoning hunters, sometimes so much so that their essences trembled with the possibility of complete eradication.
It would be so easy to smite them from existence, to keep them from an afterlife, but...to destroy one of the Cicerone’s wards like this was not the way. It would remedy none of the deep-rooted issues of this realm, the one they had so carefully cultivated.
As she walked through the maze of neon signs, the Guide wondered if this would be the one to break her; the first to fill her with a grief so all-consuming, she committed an offense against her own darling. Justice should have been hers to serve, yes, but their Mother did not allow for such interferences— it was bad enough that she had helped Dilara, bad enough that she had given her sweet peri, ever the champion, such an advantage in this hunt.
Selfish as she was though, the Guide had asked for more; she asked her dearest Cicerone for one small favor, for permission to take this child of a false God and usher him across the veil.
Cloaked in all-black as she had all those years before, when they called for Charon, and even now when they called for la Calaca, she is a Grim Reaper with a devilish smile on her face. And though, there is no joy in the loss of a child, Mateo was sounding an alarm. He’d harmed so many on his crusade, even turning on his own people as the Sirens had done before; he’d harmed her children as he took them from their homes; and she’d harmed her little Fae in an attack most cowardly. The Hunter did not deserve a sweet journey across the veil.
But— curious? As the Guide turns the corner she sees something most peculiar.
Mateo Navarro’s corpse is not where they’d left it. Instead, the Guide feels a disturbance in the air around her, the shimmering energy of magik left over, “you’ve got to be kidding me,” she calls into the empty space. If that fucker was still trying to push his luck at a prison break, she’d wake Hiedral herself and make her clean up this mess. “You shouldn’t give a man a chance to evade death if there’s even the slightest chance he’ll be so audacious as to spit in your face. But then, I shouldn’t blame her...some people just aren’t meant to be Gods...”

INTRODUCING → Ximena Guadalupe Flores De Jesus
The Basics
Name: Ximena Guadalupe Flores de Jesus
Age: 49
Birthday: 5th of May 1973
Zodiac sign: Taurus
Occupation: Currently on a vacation from her job as a Cancun resort bar manager
Gender: Cisgender female (she/her)
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Place of residence: Downtown, Peak Seasons Hotel
Hometown: San Miguel del Puerto, Oaxaca, Mexico
Relationship status: Single
Face claim: Ana de la Reguera
In Summary
tw: mentions of death, illness, illegal immigration, sex work, abandonment
Illegally entering to America as a teenager to work so she could provide for her family in Mexico, Ximena quickly found a housekeeping job in Texas.
She found herself involved in a relationship with an older man who left her nothing but a heartbreak and a pregnancy.
Settling in Louisiana, the young woman gave birth to her daughter Emeline, a secret she kept from her conservative parents.
When the financial toll was too great Ximena resulted into sex work, an illegal business that got her deported once she got caught, resulting in separation from her then four years old daughter.
After spending six months in jail, she was returned to Mexico, having to pay a fine and receiving a fifteen years ban from entering the United States.
Feeling disconnected from her old reality, Ximena decided to move to Cancun and maintain her hospitality career and have some time away from her family.
Winding up as a bar manager at the resort after gaining experience was a win for her, but she still couldn’t shake away everything that had happened in America, and what she left behind.
After the ban was lifted, Ximena’s visa’s application was denied and she decided to let it go and try to heal.
The woman was able to get her own place, go out on trips and get into numerous romances with both men and women.
Last year, she discovered a connection was made to Emeline after her nephew did an ancestry test, and it linked them together. Despite her reluctance to dig up a painful subject, Ximena realized she can’t pass on this opportunity and contacted her daughter.
The two decided to meet up in Providence Peak, and after finally getting her tourist visa approved, Ximena set her foot in America, full of anxiety and excitement.
For full bio, click here.
Wanted Connections
I am pretty open seeing as Ximena is a visitor and currently doesn't see Providence Peak as a permanent residence. That also means she's pretty much down to everything without thinking of the consequences or what anyone will think of her, take from that whatever you need ;)
A few ideas-
Another guest/worker at the hotel- Ximena is staying at Peak Seasons Hotel, and if your character happens to be there often, they're bound to meet. Ximena has a knack for being nice to the staff considering her own life experiences.
A casual hookup- We're all adults here, yeah? Ximena is pretty much down to everything, and she doesn't really look for anything serious as she's not planning to uproot her life and immigrate to the United States.
More than a hookup- Eh, shit happens. Love is tricky and it can catch you in the most unexpected moments.
Acquaintances of Emmy- People who know Emmy are bound to have some sort of opinion on the sticky situation. Whether they're disapproving or supportive, that can be something that's cool to play out.
Friends- Ximena is quite reserved but she loves listening to other people and having conversations. If your character is a talker, they're a match made in heaven.
Anything else!

Wheels Up: Your Ultimate Guide to Car Rental at Tijuana Airport
Introduction
Car rental services at Tijuana Airport provide travelers with the flexibility and freedom to explore the city and its surrounding areas at their own pace. With various rental companies operating at the airport, choosing the right car rental option can significantly enhance your travel experience. In this comprehensive guide, we delve into the process of car rental tijuana airport, offering valuable insights and tips to ensure a seamless and enjoyable journey.
Tumblr media
Choosing the Right Car
When renting a car at Tijuana Airport, it's essential to consider your specific needs and preferences to select the right vehicle. Factors to consider include the size of the vehicle, fuel efficiency, transmission type (automatic or manual), and any additional features such as GPS navigation or child seats. Travelers should also take into account the number of passengers and luggage they will be carrying to ensure adequate space and comfort during their journey.
Booking in Advance vs. On-Site
One key decision travelers face is whether to book a rental car in advance or upon arrival at Tijuana Airport. Booking in advance offers the advantage of securing your preferred vehicle and potentially accessing discounts or special offers. Additionally, booking in advance allows travelers to compare prices and terms from different rental companies to find the best deal. However, spontaneous travelers may opt to rent a car on-site at the airport, although availability may be limited during peak travel periods.
Understanding Rental Policies and Fees
Before finalizing a car rental reservation, it's crucial to familiarize yourself with the rental company's policies and any associated fees. This includes understanding the terms and conditions of the rental agreement, insurance coverage options, fuel policies, and any additional charges such as airport surcharges or taxes. Travelers should also inquire about any restrictions on mileage or cross-border travel, especially if planning to venture beyond Mexico's borders.
Picking Up and Returning the Car
Upon arrival at Tijuana Airport, travelers renting a car will typically proceed to the rental car counters located within the terminal. Here, they will complete the necessary paperwork, present valid identification and payment method, and receive the keys to their rental vehicle. It's essential to inspect the car for any existing damage and ensure that any pre-existing issues are documented before driving off.
When returning the rental car, travelers should follow the instructions provided by the rental company regarding drop-off procedures. Most rental companies have designated parking areas for returning vehicles at the airport, where travelers can return the keys and complete the check-out process. It's crucial to return the car on time to avoid any additional charges for late returns.
Navigating Tijuana and Beyond
Once you've picked up your rental car, you're ready to explore Tijuana and its surrounding areas. Tijuana offers a vibrant mix of cultural attractions, culinary delights, and shopping opportunities waiting to be discovered. From the bustling Avenida Revolución to the historic Tijuana Cultural Center, there's no shortage of sights to see and experiences to enjoy.
For those looking to venture beyond Tijuana, the rental car provides access to a range of destinations within Mexico and across the border into the United States. Popular day trip destinations from Tijuana include the coastal town of Rosarito, known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife, and the wine region of Valle de Guadalupe, renowned for its world-class wineries and culinary scene.
Conclusion
In conclusion, renting a car at Tijuana Airport offers travelers the flexibility and convenience to explore Tijuana and its surrounding regions at their own pace. By understanding the process of renting a car, choosing the right vehicle, and familiarizing yourself with rental policies and fees, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey. Whether exploring the bustling streets of Tijuana or embarking on a road trip to nearby attractions, a rental car provides the freedom to make the most of your travel experience. So, with wheels up and the open road ahead, get ready to embark on your Tijuana adventure!

Guadalupe Mountains National Park, TX (Jan 2024)
Devil's Hall hike. Snowy trail, and snowing on the way in. Was going to hike to the peak of Guadalupe Mountain, but there was a high wind warning with gusts up to 65MPH. No thanks lol. The boulder scrambles in the wash were fun, up until it got icy enough I turned back. Definitely returning one day when the weather is better!
