every so often I think of features that would be really nice to have on youtube, and then I realize that if they were implemented then it would only be a matter of time before youtube managed to find a way to further screw over youtubers with them and it's like... I just want nice things but we can't have nice things

#melon rambles #I think youtubers should be able to tag their thumbnail as being gorey or creepy #and there should be an OPT IN setting so people like me who don't like seeing the super creepy thumbnails for horror games don't have to #see it #I have absolutely nothing against youtubers who make darker/horror content I just don't want to see images of that in my homepage #I'd also really like a feature where you can completely block a youtuber from showing up on your recommended again #because there are certain viral youtubers who occasionally get shoved onto my recommended because of their popularity #but I feel like youtube would use the first feature to demonetize youtubers like that even more #and the second feature youtube would probably be like 'oh several people have blocked this person so let's stop recommending them to anyon' #and it's like #I don't really want my personal taste to screw over a youtuber who makes perfectly fine content that just isn't for me #but I feel like that's exactly how the algorithm works #and how youtube encourages the algorithm to work
