Ummmm can someone please explain to me what the fuck is going on in so many fandoms like chainsaw man and genshin regarding liking/disliking villians???

This is genuinely one of the most stupidest discourses to come out of fandoms. Y’all are seriously at each other’s throats for liking/disliking villians??????? Is this your first time being in a fandom??? Why are y’all bashing one another for having an opinion? And why the hell are you all making posts about each other’s opinions simply because you disagree with one other? Like what the actual fuck; this kind of behaviour I’d expect from preteens, not older teenagers and grown adults

Simping and liking a villain doesn’t mean a fan inherently supports their shitty actions nor does it mean that they’d support those kinds of behaviours irl.

Hating villains isn’t ‘overdramatic’. Fans have a right to feel uncomfortable with the vile actions of the antagonists and they should be able to express that without dumbasses in their comments going ‘you when a villain does villainous things🙀🙀’

Seriously what the fuck is wrong with you all? When a fan says they dislike/like a villain, it could be for a million reasons. They could love/hate their design. They could love/hate their personality. They might feel uncomfortable with villainous behaviours or they might feel appreciative of the villain’s writing. Stop jumping to conclusions when you see a fan simply state ‘I love/hate this villain’ and stop using their opinions as measure on what kind of morals they hold irl

Makima and Himeno stans getting bashed along with Dottore and Scaramouche stans for liking morally gray/evil characters is so overdramatic. Why on earth are y’all assuming that they’re fine with torture, grooming, murder, etc. just cuz they like these characters? Or if they feel attracted to any of them? They’re not real‼️‼️‼️ it’d be concerning if mfs were excusing actual dipshits like Jeffrey dahmer cuz they find him attractive but it’s not like that with fictional characters because fans have the creative freedom to alter and change anything about these characters, and they can acknowledge a villain doing shitty things while still liking them.

And it’s the same shit with ppl getting bashed for not liking villains. Collei stans getting hate for not liking dottore is so fucking stupid. I thought that it was common sense that people can like/dislike any sort of character for any reason; they don’t need to justify their feelings. The only time they need to be called out is when they invade each other’s spaces, bully and harass others, or constantly post ‘anti-villain Stan’ kind of posts publicly

Seriously, I’m getting so much second hand embarrassment watching y’all argue like toddlers and taking away any nuance regarding these topics. Cmon, it’s not something to argue about. Y’all don’t need to justify liking/disliking characters, whether they’re villains or heroes. And y’all don’t need to turn this sort of stupid argument into a whole online movement of being shitty to each other. I can’t believe y’all are so bored that stupid shit like this what y’all come up with in ur free time.

Liking and thirsting over villians isn’t some new trend; it’s been like this for centuries. Y’all make the most surface level correlations and think that you’re right even though none of the points you make are valid. I saw some dumbass under a makima stan post going ‘omg I can’t believe you support her she’s a groomer😭😭’ like…..they’ve read the manga. They know she’s a shitty person, and they’re still liking her regardless because they’re mature enough to know that stories can be outlets to explore dark content and enjoying fictional characters who are absolute garbage in terms of their behaviours and personality, doesn’t mean they’re gonna go around supporting actual people who act that way irl. Y’all loooooove bringing your performative activism in fandom spaces under the guise of ‘fiction affects/reflects reality’ but y’all don’t even analyze any of it and you simplify a nuanced topic by making into a ‘good vs bad’ narrative even though it doesn’t work like that. People are complex and that’s going to be reflected in our social processes as well. I can’t believe this is something that needs to be said.

I expect such immature ignorance from young kids but I’ve seen young adults post shit like this online and it’s weird cuz I know that those of us in these age groups, chainsaw man and genshin aren’t our first fandoms. We’ve observed and partook in fandom culture so we know it’s not a simple situation.

I infrequently check my socials. I only answered the questions that I could (I haven't gotten around to reading all your fics, but it's on my checklist your such a talented writer!!!)

4) I would say separate fics in a collection since it's with different characters and they are loosely connected. To me this seems more 'in universe' since they technically could be read as stand-alones (idk is this makes sense????)

5) not at all!!!!! Usually when I read a fic from a new author I discovered I look at the rest of their works and typically I'll enjoy the rest if they are similar to the 1st fic I read

Ah, all these answers I've been getting on these questions have been in agreement (aside from the Vash question (number 7), of course), and I'm so thankful to know that the manga variant I was so stressed about writing won't be hated for potentially holding back FTPOF's completion. That thing is on its way to being a monster. Like, I think perhaps even 50+ chapters. It's gonna be the biggest investment in all my years of writing, the longest thing I've ever written, and I was worried that if I finished it first, the manga variant wouldn't live up to the hype of it because FTPOF is unique to it and AFBYH, and I've been really wanting to write the manga variant here lately and explore things I can't or won't get to in FTPOF.

I really want to start posting on and perhaps get to a certain point in it before I reveal something big in FTPOF that will appear around the B.L.G. episodes. And while that still might be a ways away, it's so much closer than it was before. Because maybe three or so chapters tops and we'll likely be getting into what I call Arc 2 (or, the main anime plot, aka Vash's side of this story). Arc 3 will kind of co-exist once we hit episodes 7 and 8's events as it is the reader's side of things and where it is unique to AFBYH and the manga variant as it will answer questions that won't be addressed in the other two for plot reasons concerning what I have planned. I really hope to take you all on a ride with it.

SNK Character Death Ratings

Hey, all!

Long time no see!

SNK’s end is nearing, so in this post I’m going to rate the chances of each character dying.

“Die” in this post means they are dead by the last page of the manga and are not indicated to die in the events immediately thereafter.

“Deaths”, for example, that are explained to happen after the events of the story are counted as surviving. As such, titan shifter death clocks do not count.

Chances of death will be rated on a sliding scale:

Safe Dead --> Likely Dead --> Lean Dead --> Toss Up --> Lean Alive --> Likely Alive --> Safe Alive

Let’s do it.

Eren Jeager: Likely Alive

Yeah, I think Eren will probably live.

In Attack on Titan, people only survive by making harsh sacrifices, and there is no way I’m taking time to establish that.

This has lead most of the fandom to believe the final sacrifice that will have to be made is killing Eren.

But, like, it’s really not much of a sacrifice?

Eren isn’t the guy who carried the boulder at Trost, anymore. Nor is he the guy who took down the Colossal Titan at Shighanshina.

Eren is the guy who murdered humanity. “Warmongerer,” “murderer,” “traitor,” all these words describe him far better than “hero,” “friend,” or “Chad.”

So who cares if he dies?

Good riddance!

After everything that’s happened, I cannot see Eren’s death being realistically portrayed as a sacrifice. Frankly, the thought is laughable.

Eren is practically barking about how the enemies outside need to be crushed with extreme prejudice. He’s basically a Trumpist now.

All that said, it’s still believable that Eren will die before the end of the story.

Maybe Eren will die in the final battle, and SNK will just sputter to an end because the world is shit now, and any survivors will have to weather mass starvation, lack of shelter, no medicine, and who knows what else.

If the series tries to spin that as the beginning of a bright future full of hope, I’m going to laugh.

I also think it’s possible Eren kills his friends and lives. It has been foretold that Eren will win, whatever that means.

This “win” that Eren foresaw was probably incomplete, because that’s just how storytelling works, and we’ll learn that he actually “lost”. He doesn’t have to die, though, for that to happen.

We don’t actually know what Eren’s win condition is, other than that it entails Historia living (as in she’s still breathing when this is all over, her actual desire to live notwithstanding) and Eren’s enemies dying.

Eren’s enemies are dead or will die soon. Even if the Alliance kills him, they have nothing to return to. The world is dead. At this point, they’re fighting solely on principle.

Good storytelling usually emphasizes karma and just desserts.

…I think there’s a good chance Historia will die by the end, if only to ensure Eren doesn’t get away with what he’s done.

But Eren himself doesn’t have to die for this scenario to play out.

On balance, I think Eren living is slightly more likely than not.

Historia Reiss: Likely Dead

I’m really sorry to all the Historia stans reading this. Historia can’t catch a break, and I don’t think it’s going to get better.

Historia’s role as the damsel in distress so far has only made one thing clear: she doesn’t matter.

She’s a hot girl who exists to be placed in danger and spur everyone to action.

Historia has been nothing but fodder for Eren’s character development. I think it only makes sense for that trend to continue.

If Eren, the tragic villain, is favored to live, then storytelling logic dictates that Historia, the villain’s muse who inspires him to murder, must be favored to die.

If Isayama gave a damn about her character, it wouldn’t be like this, but this is the world we live in.

Cruel, yet oh, so beautiful.

Mikasa Ackerman: Lean Dead

If Eren is slightly favored to live, then Mikasa’s chances aren’t too great.

A tension is being built up between Eren and Mikasa: between Eren’s desire to wipe out his enemies, and Mikasa’s struggle to cope with that.

The reason Eren is likelier to live than Mikasa is because while Eren in eminently capable of throwing away everything precious to him, Mikasa…isn’t. Like, at all.

Mikasa has always been clingy towards Eren, but I will her credit: multiple times in this arc, people have openly talked about killing Eren, and Mikasa has not tried to murder them.

Mostly.

When Mikasa gets told to go somewhere else to contribute to the mission, it’s because they can’t trust her to come through for them if it falls to her to kill Eren.

Eren is prepared to kill Mikasa, but Mikasa still struggles with needing to let Eren go.

In this situation that is a critical advantage.

If Mikasa is supposed to fail to overcome her love for Eren, the series will almost certainly seek to highlight that by having her confront Eren directly and fail at the moment of truth.

If Mikasa is supposed to succeed in letting Eren go…well, Isayama may decide to kill her anyway.

The moment Mikasa resolves definitively to let Eren go, her character arc is complete.

After that, all bets are off.

Maybe she resolves to kill Eren, but fails anyway.

Maybe she kills Eren, and then dies. The world is cruel, and thanks to the Rumbling, it is also now ugly. Mikasa’s whole life has been crushed. Her dream was a simple rural life. That’s not possible anymore.

Like. In any form.

I think an ending where she dies after fulfilling her duty is not out of the question.

Armin Arlert: Lean Alive

If the Alliance has a good chance of failing, that means they all have a good chance of dying. I do, however, think he has a better chance than the others of living.

I think that with Paradis’ enemies wiped out, the Walldians will be in the mood for a more level-headed leader.

The thing about nationalists like Floch and Eren is that they’re only popular during times of desperation. After the people feel secure again (or the nationalists destroy everything and people realize how much they suck) they’ll usually gravitate towards a more traditional leader.

So I’m saying Armin could be the Joe Biden to Eren’s Donald Trump.

Basically, if Armin isn’t playing some leadership role post-Rumbling, he’s dead. That can happen even if Eren wins, though. That’s why I give him about even odds.

Now that Armin is in P A T H S, he’ll probably try to speak to Eren again. If SNK has any final reveals about Eren’s motivations, it’d happen here.

…I really don’t want the pregnancy to be real.

I really don’t want it to be Eren’s surprise motivation.

But if it’s coming, it’ll happen here.

I don’t know what Armin will do if Eren drops something like that on him.

Armin…isn’t as capable as people think he is.

His attempts to negotiate a peaceful resolution with the world were flailing and unsuccessful.

I don’t know how he’s going to negotiate with a dad who’s convinced that violence is the only viable option to protect his kid.

When Armin is the one who failed to broker a peaceful resolution to begin with.

When Armin tried to convince Connie to back down from violence, he was immediately shut down by Connie, and it was laughably easy!

Armin can’t even negotiate with CONNIE.

That’s the intellectual firepower humanity is relying on.

Don’t expect him to win.

(NOTE: Huh, you know, I never realized until now, but this series has totally ruined every major character. Armin is a useless idiot, Mikasa probably needs someone to hold her hand the rest of the finale, Historia’s been sidelined. What happened?)

Reiner Braun: Lean Dead

Ok, I know everyone thought Reiner would die last time around, but this time…

Eh, I think Reiner will die this time.

Reiner’s character arc is basically over. He’s found a new source of motivation in the form of Gabi and Falco, and he’s made peace with all the people he’s hurt.

There may be a scene coming where he reconciles with his mother. That would require him surviving the final battle, so I have him down as only leaning dead.

Annie Leonhardt: Lean Alive

Annie has a better chance at living than most everyone else, but that’s only because many scenarios where she lives or dies are easily foreseeable.

Maybe Annie is able to meet her father again.

Or maybe her father will die, and Annie decides to move on from her past and fully commits to Armin.

Annie’s character is in a different place compared to the others. Most of the other characters’ arcs have been played out or will be by the time the series ends. Annie’s isn’t.

Annie has a burgeoning romance with Armin. And it’s a romance that could lead to children. We all know how much this series looooooves children.

I think Annie has a good chance of making it out alive, especially if Armin does too.

Jean Kirstein: Likely Dead

Sorry, but I think Jean is destined for the glue factory.

Jean had a chance to live a long, peaceful life when Floch offered it to him. He passed it up.

You might think Jean should be rewarded for his selflessness, but we all need to keep in mind that one of the themes of Attack on Titan is that if you end up sacrificing yourself for others….you end up sacrificing yourself.

Jean made his choice. He’s not coming back.

Connie Springer: Likely Dead

Connie is going to die for the same reason Jean is: it’s the path he chose.

He chose to make his mother proud by fighting for humanity, even if it’s a suicide mission.

It’s the path he chose, and that’s it.

Pieck Finger: Toss Up

Pieck is something of a wild card.

I list her as a toss up because she seems closest to Gabi, and I think Gabi has a good chance of living. If Gabi is going to survive, though, she’s going to need a new mother figure. Pieck would be great in that role.

At the same time, her character is not particularly important. I could easily see her dying just to give the final battle a higher death count.

Gabi Braun: Safe Alive

Gabi is one of the likeliest ones to live.

She’s not directly participating in the battle, she’s safe from the rumbling, she has a burgeoning romance, and she’s a kid.

Kids have died in Attack on Titan, but never one who’s a major character.

As a child, Gabi represents the next generation; the future of humanity. To fulfill that role, she needs to live to the end.

Falco Grice: Likely Alive

Falco is a kid, too, so ofc he’s bound to live.

Not only is he a kid like Gabi, he’s also in love with Gabi. I highly doubt this series would end with a burgeoning romance cut tragically short.

Individually, Falco and Gabi represent something important in Attack on Titan: the future. Future leaders, future workers, future caregivers. They are humanity’s future.

But as a couple, they represent something even more important than that: posterity. The promise of an ongoing future for humanity.

Falco and Gabi love each other. When they get older, they’ll marry, and they’ll probably have kids.

Attack on Titan always emphasizes needing to move forward. Falco+Gabi is how humanity moves forward from the Rumbling.

Levi Ackerman: Lean Alive

Yeah, really.

I think Levi is going to make it.

He’s a safe distance from the battle, he knows he can’t fight, and he knows that he’d fail to kill Zeke even if he tried.

What we saw in 136 was Levi starting to make peace with the fact he is not going to fulfill Erwin’s final order to him. He’s starting to see the big picture: his role was to create a better world for humanity’s posterity.

That’s why he chose Armin over Erwin. Erwin had played his part and earned his rest. Giving Armin the injection was a generational passing of the torch.

In light of that, Erwin’s final order doesn’t seem so important.

So if Levi stays rational, he likely won’t have to do anything that would risk his life.

He may well make it out of this.

Zeke Jeager: Lean Alive

Zeke is probably going to live just because he’s the one who’s been most obsessed with death. It’d be weird if Attack on Titan (which theoretically celebrates life) were to grant Zeke his death wish.

If Zeke has been imprisoned in some sense by Eren, then he’ll probably live on in some form, so he may not live in an “on earth” kind of way, but alive is alive, so I’m counting it that way.

Everyone on Fort Salta (inc. Onyankopon, Mr. Leonhardt, and Ms. Braun): Likely Dead

This one wasn’t hard to figure out.

Their lives are directly contingent on Eren losing, so if Eren is likely to win, that must mean they are likely to die.

It would be sad for Karina and Mr. Leonhardt to not reunite with their kids, but that’s not a major problem in the grand scheme of things.

Miss Kiyomi and Yelena: Likely Alive

They’re stranded in the middle of the ocean, but if Falco survives, he can come back and rescue them.

I think they’ll be alright.

Ymir Fritz: Safe Dead

She’s already dead, silly, so of course that’s her rating. :P

moose tracks-favorite manga: well, fullmetal alchemist is a staple. the best long running story telling ive read. haikyuu is amazing and hits you in the feels 25/8. uuum what else.. i havent read any manga in a long time. soul eater is really cool and has a unique flavor. (lol i made a pun without realizing it xD) theres also a cute short series called beast master by kousuke motomi that i love. its only 2 volumes, probably like 6 chapters??? but its a nice lighthearted story that i love. fairy tail is good, my hero academia, horimiya is super cute, i think youd like it a lot ^^ ouran host club.. i guess those are my faves? i havent been keeping up with anything lately or reading anything new x3

i don’t really know what im doing honestly.... but ive been drawing non stop for 13 years or so and there are some things that i have found out.

when i start a new piece of media (manga, cartoons, comics as of recently) i like to look at what pleases me in the art style, kind of analyzes it. i can be the movement, it can be the aesthetic, but it can also be just !!! like !!! hey i like how this artist draws noses !!! or ears !!! it can be anything !! and you try it out and find if it works for you, if it feels good for you ?

i will always encourage going out of your comfort zone... doing (shivers) backgrounds... recently ive been struggling with drawing grass lmao... but its absoltely okay if you dont start a drawing thinking OH im gonna do STUFF I DONT USUALLY DO because as much as going out of your comfort zone makes you progress, doing stuff you like and that feels good is as important !!!

make ocs if thats waht you like !! draw fanarts if thats waht you like !!! no one is stoping you !!! you can legit do whatever the fuck you want !!! sometimes i want to draw just Blood and sometimes i just want to draw boys kissing !!! sometimes i wanna draw this specific style and sometimes im jst (does half assed art where they have big arm paw and big leg paw) AND ITS FINE !!!!! because art is fun !!!!!!

try out different support !!! currently im very digital oriented but i have to admit i really miss ink and paints... i didnt use to do much of it, because it takes time and i was too tired to do some last year, but this year my room is too small for me to be comfortable painting and i really miss it !!! recently i saw an artist working with like, cutting shiny papers and incorporating it in their art !!! it looks so fun !! i wanna try that !!!!!!

I dunno about you but I've already adopted Tomura, poor sap never got a chance to be good. He'll probably die in his final fight against Deku and that makes me even sadder because it's probably the best ending that there is for him. All For One groomed him so hard that not even a lifetime of therapy and rehabilitation might change his outlook on life, his brain has been rewired into that of a borderline psychopath that just wants the destruction of everything. Poor Tenko, he's a tragedy.

yeah, I basically have adopted him by this point. my son, Shigaraki “Dead Kids!!” Tomura, who kidnapped my other son and accosted another of my kids at the gd mall. life is weird. this series has such great characters.

I’m not so sure it’s a given that his story will remain tragic, though! consider:

(1) comic books loooooove to redeem villains! See: Loki, Magneto, Mystique, Harley Quinn, Venom, etc. etc. there are a million of ‘em and I can’t think of them all offhand right now. in fact, the only medium that loves redeeming bad guys more than American comic books is… shounen manga, lol.

(2) a lot of Tomura’s current general fucked-up-ness stems from those hands, I think. I mean, this isn’t confirmed or anything. but based on his description of what it feels like to wear them (and also the fact that the only explanation for their existence I can think of is that Ujiko and AFO created them in order to brainwash him), I feel like they’re constantly messing with his mental state. we don’t know how he’ll be affected if he eventually ditches them. he may end up stabilizing more than we expect.

(3) kind of similar to the above point, but I feel like realizing the full extent of what AFO did to him is eventually going to motivate him to join the good guys’ side. not as a hero, of course, but I can picture him and the rest of his gang helping the heroes in an enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-friend sense. it’s going to be rough at first, of course. he likely won’t believe it right away, and once the truth finally does become clear, it’s going to fuck him up. but I feel like he’ll eventually figure out how to channel that anger and betrayal towards a new goal of defeating AFO. Deku will probably help him come to terms with this, though I don’t picture them actually becoming friends or anything. more like reluctant allies lol. All Might will probably help him a bit too, but the problem is I don’t actually expect AM to live to the end of this thing sob. so after that it’ll have to be Deku.

(4) lastly, expanding on that previous point: even if he doesn’t realize it yet, Tomura isn’t actually in this alone. he has the rest of the League, first and foremost, and if the last few arcs with them have taught us anything it’s that they’re one hell of a loyal bunch despite their appearances. and they’re loyal to him, not AFO. and that’s going to be important, I think.

and then, as mentioned, there’s All Might. who knows the truth, and is eventually going to be the one to tell him, I’m pretty sure. I’m also pretty sure, as I previously said, that Tomura will not believe him at first. because, you know. he fucking hates All Might. he’s been conditioned to loathe All Might with every fiber of his being since he was four years old. so yeah.

but. here’s the thing that’s eventually going to screw AFO over, I think. y'all know I believe that Tomura’s memories were erased by AFO. whether they’ll actually come back, I don’t know – they may well be gone forever. but there must be some kind of record somewhere, or some other piece of evidence that proves what really happened. so that means that all All Might needs to do is plant that seed of doubt in him enough to make him seek out the truth (if only to prove All Might wrong! no way would his beloved Sensei lie to him like that! he’s the one who saved him! it’s impossible… right?). once that’s taken root in him I think Tomura’s own tenacity (which we’ve been seeing a lot of recently) will take care of the rest. he’ll find out the truth. and then he’ll have to come to terms with it.

anyway, so assuming this plays out anything remotely like this, I think it paves the way for Tomura to eventually have, if not a traditional happy ending (because he is still a wanted criminal who’s killed a bunch of people and isn’t likely to be pardoned lol), at least a quasi-happy ending where he can go into hiding someplace quiet and chill with his buds. maybe even become a vigilante, maybe, one day. who knows? but I feel like Horikoshi is planning on depressing us in myriad other ways (see, again, All Might’s fate. especially if he’s watched Endgame. if he was on the fence about it that might have finally tipped the scales in favor sob), so he just might take pity on us in the case of this poor kid who’s suffered so much at the hands of the Actual Big Bad and doesn’t even know it yet. at least, I hope.

All caught up!

I stopped reading DC pretty much two years ago at chapter 920 because I was so fed up with a lot of things: the writing and utilization of female characters, especially how major female characters faded away as male characters take over the main plot, how they are kept in the dark even as they are directly involved, the shallow treatment of female relationships in comparison to the male ones, the occasional fanservice; the idolization of childhood crushes, how every single character is shoehorned into a romance, and how the individual characterization suffered as a result; Conan’s alarming omnipotence and the complete absence of criticism; people constantly talking past each other in fandom based on false assumptions.

I didn’t know back then whether that’d mean that I’d be quitting DC for good or not, which scared me because I had been following the series for so long and had invested so much money and time in it... But I knew it wasn’t good to keep reading if all of the frustration overrode - on a weekly basis! - any lingering affection I still had, so I cut myself off from it.

In the meantime, starting from about half a year ago, I got into merch collecting. While I was keeping away from the manga, I’d rage every now and then at all the new DC merch coming out, which is all pretty much presenting Conan/Shinichi, Akai, Amuro, KID and sometimes Heiji as the faces of the series. I know that those are popular characters for good reasons and that smart marketing is to produce whatever’s currently a hot topic, especially when it comes to a series that has been running for this long, but it didn’t help with my bitterness regarding the neglect of female characters within the series. In my opinion, Ran and Ai in particular deserve merch before any of the above (with the exception of the titular character) get any, especially when said merch is bundled or part of a line-up. :| (I'm talking about the recent scale figures and the planned Nendoroids, but also some sticker/strap sets I've seen.)

About 1-2 days ago, I ranted about DC merch again (a set of straps), and a good friend was wondering on Twitter whether anything of note has happened in the series in the past year. I guess someone I know talking about it in some way and expressing frustration was the push I needed to catch up again! I’m all caught up now, and reading the 73 (à 16 pages) chapters didn’t take anywhere as long as I thought it would.

Some rambling under the cut, both positive and negative. No explicit story spoilers.

TWO YEARS' WORTH OF EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS WOW!! SO MANY EXCITING THINGS OMG!!

Reading all of it in one go was less painful than following this series on a weekly basis while dying from impatience and getting upset over the writing of female characters. I’m still upset, but at least it’s not a weekly letdown, which was hard to stomach as a fan. (Also wow, I quit right before that Shinichi/Ran chapter wtf.)

One of the most exciting things about binge-reading this is that of the huge cast, many people met each other for the first time!! Hell yeah I am here for seeing every possible kind of combo (though I doubt most of it will get fleshed out).

Megure is spot-on when he says that most of the time it’s just running into groups of assorted detectives hanging out. EVERYONE IS A DETECTIVE.

Part of it is that there are wayyyyyy too many men now, most of them some genius/specialist of some sort. They set themselves apart from the non-detective characters by being characterized as smart and impressive, but in a cast where everyone is impressive, it’s just... getting very crowded. (There are cases where I constantly wonder "was this really necessary" with regard to this type - Shukichi and Komei in particular.)

Heiji/Kazuha chapters continue to be really stale; as with two years ago, they’re easily one of the worst parts of the entire series to me (and I used to love them waaaay back!). Every time they show up, we’re confronted with the non-progressing romance (see above: romance ruining characterization), while Ran and Kazua are forced into the “I’m so scared and ghosts totally exist HELP” role. Every. Single. Time. It’s mind-boggling it’s handled this way even on the most basic level, which, in DC’s case, is the mystery. If certain characters are associated with a certain types of mystery (folklore and “scary” things in general in this case), doesn’t that make the constellations they’re part of repetitive as a whole?

The recent Ran/Kazuha scene in chapter 983 was SUPER CUTE though. Really beautiful. ;_;

Not sure how I feel about the amount of new characters introduced in all these chapters. O_O I know it’s a new arc and all, but damn, I think it’s about 5-6? wtf @ sushi waiter...

Not sure how to feel about Wakasa either, but it bugs me that she seems like some sort of Jodie rehash - the combination of possibly being a threat, being very clumsy, being secretly capable, and a teacher. Rehashes are nothing new (Eisuke/Masumi as transfer students and siblings, for example, and also the clumsiness in Eisuke/Jodie/Wakasa as they follow their own agenda), but it bugs me because... I really like Jodie, and like other female key players (Ai, Kir), she is underutilized/written out of the story while male characters dominate.

I should be more upset at Amuro because he's almost like the mirror of One Piece's Law (except it's way more blatant and annoying in the case of OP), super special in his own way and now getting all the merch next to Akai as well as other male characters, while major female characters can stew, but I still really like him. IT'S JUST A BUNCH OF THE DC MERCHANDISE THAT I RAGE AT.

That moment in chapter 954 when two of your lowkey crackships are in the same panel bc MAGIC...

CATCHING UP WAS SO WORTH IT JUST FOR THE END OF CHAPTER 957, I LOOOOOOVE IT SOOOOOOOO MUUUUUUUUUCHHHHHHHHHHHH YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW.
