My theory ☝️🤓(sorry) is that to get both Jing Yuan and Neuvillette to a state like this, it takes… several days. You have to coax them to be this needy, mold them into being just gooey enough that they’re left with nothing but that needy feeling.

So fucking sick of the "infinite growth/everything needs to be the next biggest hit or we're axing it" mantra of capitalism.

It's not enough for a company to be successful and sustainable, it needs to have record profits every single quarter or the shareholders and investors start panicking. It's not enough for a new tv series to have good ratings and loyal fanbase, it needs to be as big as Stranger Things or Game of Thrones or it's getting canceled. Products that are a tiny bit more expensive to make but are loved by loyal customers have their ingredients switched with shitty, inferior, yet cheaper versions that save a little money at the expense of some of the customers leaving.

This entire ideology is so self-destructive but who cares, it made a handful of people a tiny bit richer in the short term, right?

Genuinely I really hope this specific event ends up with the Luxon involved not just because I'm me, but also because I want to watch Ludinus eat shit realizing his glorious centuries-long plan is a wash solely because he never once allowed himself to entertain the notion that maybe the Dynasty wasn't just inventing a deity where there wasn't one and actually knew what they were fucking talking about.

The Dynasty has BEEN saying this, and Ludinus must be WELL AWARE of that—in fact, it's pretty likely that he is specifically disdainful of them in particular because of their theocratic model. They've been evangelizing for a while; they are not being quiet about their beliefs.

He also holds a very clear disdain of anyone prioritizing divine interests over arcane research, and I have to imagine he knows that the Dynasty is doing that, given his entire involvement in the beacon theft and the fact that he definitely used that as a method of manipulation—if not from the onset, then at least to keep everything on the rails for three years.

On top of that, research out of Aeor must corroborate these beliefs in at least some capacity, given that within five weeks in Eiselcross Essek had changed his tune on the actual nature of the divinity of the beacons (regardless of his continued disinterest in any actual worship) as well as their age and origin.

Ludinus absolutely knows all of this—he's just uninterested in believing or acknowledging it. I hope it fucks him over so badly.
