Miraculous Awakening Movie - Review

WARNING

There are big spoilers in the text below and its author sucks at expressing her opinion which, guess what, absolutely no one asked for!!!

When this movie was announced, not only I struggled to welcome it as it was hard to understand how this would fit with the universe of the show, but also the character design was just odd. We adore the one from the series so why alter what is loved?

All this to say that I was never particularly hyped about the movie, but as a miraculer and a person who wanted to experience something that involved so many fans celebrating this show we all love, I just had to go.

I was square punched in the face by the visuals. This movie is a MUST to see on the big screen. Despite my hesitation towards the character design (which eventually grew on me), the musical numbers, particularly the romantic ones taking place in the sky brought me to tears. The colours, the low lights, the quality of the animation, the detail, the intensity of the characters (namely in the eyes)...*chef kiss* absolutely hit the spot.

Plot wise? I mean, it is literally if you wanted to compile the first 3 seasons of miraculous (no senti theories, lukanette, adrigami or,zoe though, more like season 1 plus Chat Blanc because we do get a WARNING SPOILER ALERT

"Chat Noir is Adrien, my son?" but with a Gabe completely out of character (based on his previous reactions to this in the series) and we get another reveal scenario which was very sweet but I felt like they could have played it differently ~SPOILER AHEAD~ I really loved Marinette putting his mask on and saying you can also call me ladybug but this doesn´t really prove she is who she claims to be right? I think she could have ended the one-sided reveal by using my favourite quote from the movie

Chat Noir "To everyone you´re the girl with the mask that saves the world, but to me, you are the girl who saved my heart" DUDE I sobbed (screaming internally because Marinette could have played with this quote as Chat Noir told this to her in private).

I sobbed with the romantic scenes in this film. Despite having to rush the romantic development between Adrinette and Ladynoir, it still felt very natural to my eyes which I was really happy with. Plus miraculous ladybug always knows how to play with my heartstrings regarding the love side of the story. It completely made me swoon (a big personal factor to have enjoyed it).

Nevertheless, the character development of Marinette, namely her overcoming her fears and believing in herself - exaclty what made me fall in love with her in the show and admire this charcter- instead of balancing out the romance, it became repetive and a bit exhausting. We are in the last 10 minutes of the film and Tikki is still preaching the same thing (don´t get me wrong, it is important to emphasise such message to the audience but I think they saturated it a bit).

Anywho, I think the fact that I went with no expectations for the film and accept whatever might come made me actually enjoy it more than I thought. A great part was also due to the atmosphere, which was so much fun. The audience was super vocal with their reactions, bringing a sense of community despite each of us being in our own little groups. We laughed (a lot, I completely forgot to highlight the humour of the movie *looks at careless whisper playing in the background everytime Adrien thinks of Ladybug*), screamed, cried and gasped together. So much fun.

I left the theatres quite elated but frustrated with the bloody teasing "almost kiss* scene at the very end. I actually believed I was gonna see Adrinette´s first kiss on the big screen but :)))))) JDNDJESINVIFESN. I also left incredibly confused because as I said, the movie doesn´t match whatsoever the series, and ended on a vague note - HEADSUP - After Gabriel is revealed to be Hawkmoth to both Chat Noir aka his son and Marinette/Ladybug, the dude just disappeared and we don´t get a reaction from Adrien?? It immediately skips to Adrinette (no complaints LOL) and then you hear Gabriel narrating a message to Nathalie to protect Adrien and never let him know that he hides Emelie´s body in the basement? The dad´s a bloody terrorist what difference doesa another crime make? Does this mean there will be a second movie? Will we forever live with God knows how many miraculous ladybug universes? "AMERICA EXPLAINNNN"

I have heard people who didn´t like it beacause it was purely fanfiction and didn´t make sense, I personally advise you to go with an open mind, chilled and with the intention to have a good time. I sure did! I will carry this experience with me forever <3 all this to say that my score may be also highly biased by that hahah. Byeee!

P.S - I did not comment on the music because I was a bit disappointed that the original French voices (warning the French dub is my favourite) were not the singing ones. They used Lou and Lenni-Kim which despite them being talented I didn´t feel like it suited them. So...I´m gonna wait for the English soundtrack to formulate an opinion. I liked the lyrics of the new song though (Last Dance soundtrack)

Anne-Jeanne Theoxanne du Bocquale is a time traveling adopted daughter of Lukadrien Adrienette

This is the first of my crack theories I've decided to tackle, is very much a major crack theory.

I have no actual proof of anything, except that:

According to this now deleted interview that can be read via Internet Archive, Wilfried Pain tells a fan that there would be a new character from the future.

The Fandom Wiki seems to think this interview is discussing season 5, but after some back and forth with a mutual, we've come to the conclusion that it's actually discussing season 4, which just so happens to be the season that Anne-Jeanne is introduced.

I've seen multiple posts of people noticing that she has quite a bit more detail than you'd expect for a small side character. She doesn't look out of place at all next to our main girl Maribug, which you can't say for a lot of the designs of minor characters.

She was slotted to be a teacher to the kids in season 5, but apparently that was scrapped. Perhaps she'll be a teacher in the new school for season 6?

As for being Lukadrien's Adrienette's daughter...

The fandom wiki claims that the vision of a T-Rex Ladybug sees in the Burrow during Chat Blanc is foreshadowing of Anne-Jeanne's existence. I'm a bit skeptical on this, but Anne-Jeanne would have needed to somehow get DNA in order to bring the T-Rexes back to life, and in Time Tagger adult Bunnyx has a pet T-Rex named Denver.

Anne-Jeane is officially introduced in season 4's Hack-San, an episode that irrevocably fractures the LadyNoir partnership.

She shows up again in Rocketear, another episode that kicks LadyNoir while it's down. (After wrangling her T-Rexes, she says she's not really sure what to do with them, and wonders if it was really a good idea to bring them back to life... Kind of an ominous statement for a show where the deuteragonist is a boy born of magic, and whose creation caused the events of literally everything in the show.)

She has a short mention in Jubilation, where her T-Rex pigeon hybrids escape and go on a rampage. Nadja Chamack asks if she has gone too far with her science creations? Another ominous statement.

It's important to note, that Ladybug accidentally wears her friend's Alliance ring while capturing the hybrid dinosaurs, and thus, gets her friend who has been pretending to be Ladybug in hot water for possibly actually being Ladybug. It's interesting that Monarque doesn't even know Socqueline was impersonating a hero, he just sees her name in the Alliance alerts and goes after her. Of course Maribug thinks it's because she's been cosplaying being a hero and Monarque found out!

Anyway, I want to make a point that the dream sequence in Jubilation is very odd. It doesn't read to me as anything other than a child's idea of what love and marriage is. For one, both French citizens and foreigners need an entire forest of identification documentation, and they need to be married at a town hall in order to be legally binding. Only then can a religious ceremony take place. Obviously Ladybug and Chat Noir cannot do that, so they are only symbolically married at a church. The babies the couple are, for lack of better words, in possession of are inanimate dolls. There's a strange haze around the entirety of the dream sequence, just like the strange haze of the season 5 finale.

One of these days I'll do a line by line rundown of the Jubilation dream sequence, but that isn't the point I'm trying to make here. The point is this: the juxtaposition of Anne-Jeanne, the actual future daughter being the catalyst for whatever the hell Jubilation was, would be *chefs kiss* excellent storytelling.

FINALLY we have the final episode of season 5: Re-Creation. Anne-Jeanne makes a cameo in an interview where she gives an ominous message:

"We all remember the worldwide nightmare epidemic followed by the victory of Ladybug over Monarch...and how the swarm of magic ladybugs swarmed the planet to repair everything and free us. This even raised global awareness. We humans have accomplished incredible things throughout history. But still, we often fall victim to our emotions, because no one teaches us how to understand or deal with them... If we don't listen to what our fears, sadness or anger are trying to tell us—

Alya turns off the monitor, and the audience doesn't hear the lesson Anne-Jeanne is trying to convey. Gabemoth had taken advantage of negative emotions in order to akumatize his victims. Presumably, future Lilamoth will do the same.

The Paris special made it very clear that our universe Adrien is just distracting himself from his grief. Bottling up and ignoring doesn't do any good. He can avoid his hurt all he wants, but it's not getting to the core issue. He needs to address his emotions in order to heal.

More propaganda!

Anne-Jeanne's dress has moonflowers on it! Guess who loves flowers and has a lot of baggage concerning the moon! Yes, that's right, our boy Adrichat! Once again, Adrien being represented by the moon is a post for another day, BUT I DIGRESS.

Plagg is the reason the dinosaurs are extinct, and has a very particular grudge against T-Rexes in particular. Well, AnneJeanne brought the T-Rexes back to life!

More of a "Lukadrien's daughter headcanon", but I think Anne-Jeanne would be using a fake name if she's actually time traveling. I like the name Aurora because Luka's hero name Viperion is based off of Hyperion, the father of the dawn who was named Eos. Eos' Roman name is Aurora. Funnily enough, I checked the Luka Couffaine tag tonight and someone else thought his daughter would be named Aurora. I promise it was just a coincidence we both came up with this name! It also sticks to the Couffaine naming tradition of ending in "A", so it's still a pun on the French acouphène :D

I’m watching ‘Ladybug and Chat Noir: Awakening’ (you can watch a really bad quality bootleg recording on most pirating sites right now), these are my reactions while I’m watching . A lot of the points won’t make sense unless you’ve seen it too I’m sorry 😭

Because they spent the first half hour almost exclusively on marinette and setting up her character/insecurities/etc and all the romantic development was in a montage. Now there’s a love song and theyre in love and it feels very underdeveloped to be at this stage already

- this song is cute though I can’t make out the majority of the words but in-love ladynoir content has my heart

FINAL THOUGHTS!

obvs it isn’t canon but I love this adaptation. The superpowers are portrayed as powerful as they actually are, there’s more drama and angst which I needed, the timeline is VERY different to the show. Marinette stands up for herself to chloe the same day that ladybug and chat noir reveal their identities, so it’s like the origins episode of season 1 mixed with one of the various identity reveals from season 4. Also she’s not friends with any of her class other than alya, adrien and nino, so it’s also kind of pre-origins vibes. Idk, it was really good and I can’t wait to watch it in better quality, with captions, and without ads playing every half hour

Also I’m forever thankful that there was no lila rossi storyline

By the time Marinette managed to pull herself away from her sewing machine and rub her eyes, the sun had started to set, casting a warm beam of light through the windows and into her bedroom. Although she was a little embarrassed about having lost track of time, she leaned back in her chair and smiled as she felt the sun rays on her face. It was exactly what she needed after several long hours of work.

“Wow Marinette, the suit is really coming along well!” Tikki exclaimed, at long last emerging from the drawer where she’d spent half of the afternoon resting. The robbery they’d managed to stop at the Musée de l’Orangerie last night had clearly taken a lot out of her, which was understandable, since neither of them were as used to fighting crime as they once had been.

Marinette laughed and shook her head. “I’ve only just started working with the fabrics, Tikki, I’m going to be sewing and putting things together for a while.”

“That might be true, but I know it’ll look fantastic when you’re done - your designs always do!”

“Thanks, Tikki,” Marinette said as her kwami gently nuzzled her cheek. “Hopefully Professor Bernard will be as impressed as you.”

For a few minutes she wandered aimlessly around her bedroom, picking up various items which she’d left scattered on the floor in the midst of all her planning and organising (it was a good thing she did, too, because she managed to find three stray pins in three different places). Once everything had been put away, Marinette made her way to the living room, taking in any surrounding sounds. The gentle dripping of the tap water in the kitchen, the roaring car engines out on the streets below her and, if she listened carefully, the people in the apartment directly above her, both of whom were also university students.

The busyness of the city could be oddly comforting at times. It was constant, something Marinette had grown up around and lived with her whole life, and given how much change had been forced upon her in her teenage years, it probably meant more to her than many other people. She still needed her quiet moments, though, which had been hard to come by with the amount of classwork and everyday tasks she’d been doing lately.

Marinette spun on her heel and checked the clock hanging next to the television on the wall; it read 6:28 p.m. She had plenty of time.

“Hey, Tikki?” She called out. “You feel like going out for a bit?”

“I’m more than happy to!”

Seconds later, Tikki was by her side and grinning eagerly. Not wanting to miss her opportunity to get some fresh air, Marinette called upon her transformation and left the apartment via the balcony. She already had a specific location in mind.

The area surrounding the Palais de Chaillot was unusually quiet for a Monday evening, but the few people that were there smiled and waved when they saw Ladybug land on the rooftop. She waved back, feeling rather happy when she saw a girl in a bright pink shirt who couldn’t have been older than six staring up at her in awe.

It had been daunting at first, knowing that so many people admired her like this when she was just a bright-eyed thirteen year old, a thirteen year old who’d been given a responsibility many adults could never handle. A lot of time had passed since then, however, and with time came age and experience. It wasn’t necessarily easy, but knowing that she had the support of the people she loved most went a long way.

Suddenly Ladybug heard the sound of a metal staff hitting the rooftop with a clunk, and a sense of warmth came over her. He certainly was good at being sneaky before making his presence known.

“Catching some sunshine, my lady?”

“Mhmm,” She hummed, keeping her eyes closed as Chat Noir sat himself down next to her. Just him being there was enough.

After a few moments of silence, he asked, “So, everything’s good? Nothing too out of the ordinary happened today?”

“Yep, all good, just a normal day with normal tasks.”

Ladybug finally opened her eyes and looked at him, waggling her eyebrows as they sometimes did to show that they understood each other.

“Anyways, how about you?” She took the bell on his zipper and turned it over in her hand, their shoulders now touching. “I seem to remember you mentioning that you had something special planned for someone you know a few days ago. Is that going well?”

Chat Noir let out a breathy chuckle, then lowered his head slightly so he could whisper in her ear. Any person that might have been watching them was of little concern to them now.

“It’s funny you should mention that, Ladybug, because I was hoping that I could do it today.”

Her eyes widened immediately, and she couldn’t hide the way she jumped as soon as the words came out of his mouth.

“Seriously?!” She whispered. He nodded in response.

“Seriously.”

“Well…wh-what if this person has other, equally important things to do?”

Chat Noir stared at her with a hint of amusement in his eyes.

“Such as?”

Oh God, Ladybug could sense her brain going into overdrive. As sweet as it was, she definitely hadn’t been prepared for this. “Er…I don’t know, grocery shopping?”

“And what if I’ve already taken care of that?” Chat Noir asked softly, his gaze flitting to her lips.

The decision became much easier then. Lacing their fingers together, Ladybug leaned forward and pressed a quick kiss to the corner of Chat Noir’s mouth. The gentle gasp he let out made her grin, and seconds later she was up on her feet with her yo-yo in hand.

“It sounds good to me.”

Ladybug was still smiling from ear to ear as she swung back to their apartment. It was quite cute, how easy it was for her to catch Adrien off-guard even if he seemed prepared. She would never grow tired of seeing the realisation dawn on him, when his mouth formed into an ‘O’ shape and he looked at her like she was the centre of his universe.

Once they were back in their living room and detransformed, Marinette checked the clock on the wall; it now read 7:14 p.m.

Adrien wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed the spot just above her collar bone. “So, how did we do?”

“Not bad,” She said. “Six minutes earlier than the time you said you’d be back.”

He laughed and shook his head. “You really were going to hold me to that, huh?”

“So what?” Marinette retorted with a pout. “It would be good if at least one of us can be punctual.”

“Fear not, my lady, I always try to be true to my word.”

She smiled up at him then, turning around in his arms so she could look at him properly, and began gently tracing circles on his cheek with her thumb.

“I know you do, Chaton.”

Sneaky peek

I'm so excited that the JuleRose zine will be out very soon! It was expected for today, but there have been a couple of issues before release, so here's a short extract of the story I've written for it. It's JuleRose, of course, but has also a hinted LadyNoir background, with hinted reveal.

As she moved to return inside, she felt a jacket being thrown over her shoulders. She looked behind her, knowing whose smile would cross her gaze. 

"Luka, why are you up? You worked late last night," she muttered.

His smile never left his lips. "It's tomorrow, isn't it?" 

Juleka broke eye contact with her twin and lowered her gaze to look again at the ripples on the calm surface of the water underneath. "Well, today, since it's nearly dawn."

"It'll be okay; you'll see." Luka picked up one of the hairpins that had come a little loose and allowed the purple strike of her fringe to cover her eye. He affectionately moved her fringe backwards and replaced the hairpin, dropping a soft kiss on the side of her head. "Trust Rose and her feelings for you. No Prince Charming is better than my little sister."

At his words, Juleka cocked her head to give him a sidelong look. "I'm only ten minutes younger than you, Monsieur."

"Exactly. A whole ten minutes younger." He gave her a pat on the head and that brought a little chuckle out of Juleka. "That's the right attitude. Here," he said, rummaging in his jeans' pocket to take out a small pendant representing a snake, which he put around her neck. "I was going to give it to you for our birthday, but I think you need it more now. It's a symbol of healing and rebirth."

"Thank you, Luka." She looked at it in a daze for a moment and then wrapped her brother up in a tight hug. "You're the best!"

He smiled softly when she broke the hug and stood next to her, leaning his elbows against the lifeline. "Don't worry about it." 

Juleka stared at the goosebumps forming on her brother's naked forearms, which his light t-shirt didn't cover, and started walking back inside. "I'm chilly even with your jacket on. Let's get back inside, maybe we can sleep some before the alarm goes off."

But sleep didn't come. Juleka laid down in bed with her eyes wide open, staring intently at the necklace Luka had just given her. Eventually, her clock signalled 7 am and she had to get up—there was no use wasting time in bed; better to get ready for school early. 

She reached Collège Françoise Dupont and walked into the hallway, sighing at the big stage that had been put up for Prince Ali's visit. Way to raise her anxiety levels with a visual reminder! 

Rose was soon there, her excitement getting more infectious as time passed by. 

"I can't believe he's coming to our Collège, and he wants to talk to me personally," she said, cupping a hand on a very rosy cheek. "He told me he got in contact with Dr Monique Fontaine, the one who did all the research around my illness. I wonder if it's about that…"

Juleka's heart sank at those words. She shot Rose a cringing smile and looked down at her tablet, pretending to get ready for the lesson. "Yeah, that would be grand."

Rose lifted an eyebrow at her reaction, and Juleka cringed some more—to Rose, she was an open book. "What's wrong?" she asked. 

Juleka rubbed the nape of her neck and kept quiet, being grateful for the fact that Mlle Bustier had just arrived and everyone's attention was switching to her. 

Rose's gaze was still burning a hole at the side of her head. "What's wrong, Jule?" she whispered. 

"Nothing, I'm good," muttered Juleka in such a low whisper that she was seriously surprised by the frown that furrowed Rose's brows. She certainly had good hearing. 

But the teacher started calling their names for roll call and Rose had to start paying attention.

Rooftop

“Doesn’t it ever bother you?”

“Hm?”

“That we can’t seem to defeat Hawkmoth?”

Her whisper is disguised as the wind rustling his hair and he keeps his eyes closed for a moment longer before responding. He faces her, eyes drawn to the slope of her nose, the curl of her hair like ink against pale skin, the reflection of moonlight glinting off her lower lip. His gaze finally settles on the sea of emotion swimming in her eyes, and he lets himself drink her in for a fleeting second.

Their last Akuma was a tough one, taking much longer than usual to deal with. Ladybug had called on her Lucky Charm multiple times, and both of them hadn’t come away from the fight without a few lingering aches and bruises courtesy of the sheer damage the Akuma had caused. It left the two of them shaken, battered and scared at moments. The sound of Ladybug screaming his name as he pushed her out of the way from what could have been a fatal blow still echoed in his ears. The violence was more than what they were used to, and Chat didn’t know if it was a one off chance, or if Hawkmoth was just getting impatient.

Chat didn’t have to ask Ladybug to know that they both thought it was the latter.

“I won’t lie to you and tell you that it doesn’t M’Lady. We’ve been at it for a year now and while we’ve gotten better and faster...well unfortunately so has he,” he sighs, fingers itching to brush the loose strands that were ruffled into her face, but he forces his hand into a fist and continues.

“But I also won’t lie and tell you that doing this,” he gestures to the smattering of fluorescent stars below their rooftop, “playing hero, saving Paris, spending time with you, wasn't the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I wouldn’t trade any second with you for Paris, for all of France.” He bites his lips, feline eyes flitting away from her gaze as it widens. His fingers twitch again and he grabs for the familiar rubber of his tail to calm him.

There’s a silence that follows his statements causing a hot coil to twist in his stomach.

“I know you probably don’t feel the same way, and I know its selfish-it’s so selfish- but-“

“Why?”

Her voice cuts through his rambling and his head snaps up, confusion making his brow wrinkle underneath the mask.

“What?”

“Why would you say all of that…for someone like me?”

“Someone like…” green eyes searched her face, “what are you talking about, Bug?”

Her breath hitches, the moonlight catches the telltale glint of tears in her eyes, and Chat feels his heart drop as he realizes that his lady was crying. Her lips are drawn back, pressed tight (though that does very little to hide their trembling from Chat’s feline senses) as she glares down at her knees, which are drawn up to her chest. The look in her eyes was venomous, but it wasn’t the loud, righteous anger that Chat had come to admire as she stared down another Akuma, another bully, another injustice that she would stop with a final snap of her yo-yo. That anger was fueled with hope, with a conviction that only the power of creation could drive as her lips pulled back in a determined smirk. He was familiar with that anger, enthralled with it on many occasions.

But looking at Ladybug now, curled around herself on a lone rooftop with a stray, he decided that this was a different kind of anger, one that he wasn’t used to seeing on his partner's face. This anger was quiet and simmering, tinged with hate, sadness and frustration; not at an Akuma, not at Hawkmoth, but at herself. His chest squeezed as he recognized the emotions storming the seas in her eyes.

She looked small in that moment, against the backdrop of a clear night sky that was suddenly way too vast and consuming in its presence. He wondered briefly if the stars were listening to them, eavesdropping, only to keep silent as they watched the heroine of Paris break down.

“I can’t figure out how to beat him, Chat. How long are we supposed to keep fighting?” She choked back on a sob, “What if one day I can’t fix everything? What if I’m not smart enough or fast enough o-or,” she sniffled, “what if I lose everyone? What if I lose you? I almost did!” He heard her voice crack, fading out as she harshly rubbed her eyes.

“Oh no, sweetheart,” he whispered, feeling the prickle of his own tears as he reached for her.

His heart was thundering against his ribs as her words hit him, splintering into a million shards and piercing through his skin. The suit did nothing to hide the tremor of his fingers and he hoped she didn’t notice as he brought his hands up to cup her face, the pads of his thumbs settling gently on her cheeks. His breath caught in his throat as she looked up at him, but he swallowed back the butterflies climbing up his throat.

“Ladybug, Bugaboo, light of my life, my precious Lady,” he breathed into the space between their noses, “you’re worth so much more than you can ever know. You’re so strong and smart and brave, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone as wonderful as you m’Lady.” He smiled softly, “Paris loves you, your friends love you, and...and I love you. So much. Everyone believes in you, you will take down Hawkmoth, and I’ll be right there by your side, Bugaboo. You’re not going to lose me, I meant everything that I said before. I wouldn’t give up a second with you for the world.”

“Chaton…” her voice shook as it barely tumbled past her lips.

Chat shook his head slightly.

“I love you, Ladybug. A-and it doesn’t even have to be romantic,” he pushed down the now familiar pang in his chest, “but you’re my best friend, you’re my family, and I wouldn’t be where I am right now without you.” He poured as much conviction, as much love and care and emotion into his words as he could because he needed her to understand just how wonderful she really is. Her eyes glittered, the blue of her eyes captivating and he found himself unable to look away. It wasn’t often they got quiet moments together, where jokes and lighthearted jests weren’t used, and Chat didn’t want to waste it.

He took a chance and leaned his forehead against hers, allowing himself the barest of smiles when she didn’t pull away. And if he imagined that she pushed herself closer to him as well, no one had to know.

“If the stars were to align again, if we had to do this all over again, I would still stay for you.”

“Why?”

If he wasn't so close, he could have missed her question, the warmth of her lips grazing against his skin. He tasted the vanilla and sugar in her breath, felt the flutter of her eyelashes against his cheeks. Electricity coursed through him as he brushed a strand out of her face. His fingers were light, the tips of his claws barely grazing the mask around her eyes.

“Because you’re worth staying for.”

I myself didn't like the statue scene, I found it funny but as someone who adores Marinette and Adrien I could live without it although I don't mind it and I can watch it again and the whole episode si interesting, but my mom watched the full thing and she was laughing. She is a Love Square shipper since forever and she didn't mind it. She didn't find it cringy. She just laughed and said "oh my God" and shook her head and continued smiling.

I like how the scene continued with action quickly after, so even if I feel secondhand embarrassment it doesn't leave a bad taste in my mouth. And that Adrienette scene in the end was kinda sad but they are always cute so (plus Ladynoir is great as always) so I just laugh it out and that's all. I mean I get it if someone hates it but you really can just skip it, the whole episode doesn't deserve a backlash because of one cringy scene. There are so many cringy scenes in Miraculous if I hated the whole episode because of it I would hate 4/5 of the show. I know one similar scene that was the cringiest sh*t I had to go through so the statue scene is literally nothing compared to it. I don't want to mention it but if someone wants me to say what it was they can ask. (God I cringe at the thought of it, people who complain about the statue scene don't know the real pain)

She transforms back into Marinette and he turns away. Marinette finds herself comparing the two most important boys in her life and thinks it might be time to have a conversation with a certain cat. Meanwhile, Adrien has too much self doubt and Plagg and Tikki aren't having it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- How could she let herself get in a situation like this? Ladybug was trying to manage fighting an akuma and protecting Adrien Agreste. She found herself a bit irritated with him at the moment. He’d pushed her out of the way before the akuma could strike her. What’s worse is that this isn’t even the first time he’d pulled something like this. How could he be so reckless?! He could have been hurt! Now, he was trying to get her to leave him behind. “I’ll be fine Ladybug, just go do what you have to do!” He pleaded. “No! I’m not leaving you!” Why was she so stubborn? He huffed, knowing there was no way he could get out of her grip. They ran into a doorway only to hear a loud crash behind them. As they both looked at where they came from they saw the rubble covering their path. The empty room they were in wasn’t very big and had no windows. They were trapped.

Apparently the akuma couldn’t get to them either, or hadn’t seen where they went. The two could hear the sounds of destruction fading in another direction. Ladybug looked at Adrien. At least he was safe, for now. Unfortunately, another sound filled the room. The final beeping of Ladybug’s earrings. She had already used her Lucky Charm and she was out of time. In her rush and concern for her friend and crush she hadn’t even realized just how close she was to transforming back. Her mouth opened to tell him not to look, but he had already turned away and closed his eyes tightly. “Y-you… thank you.” She gasped as her transformation fell. “Of course! Don’t get me wrong. I’d love to know who you are.” Adrien’s heart ached. She was behind him. His lady without a mask. But he’d been in this situation before as Chat and he was determined to treat her wishes with respect. It would have been an accident. It would have been an innocent way to find out, he knew that. Still, he wouldn’t give into the temptation to turn back around and look. “But I know that secret identities are, well, a secret.” Marinette felt tears in the corners of her eyes as she fed Tikki so she could recharge. It was a mistake on her part, for not paying attention. He could have looked at her. Part of her almost wanted him to. What would his reaction be if he knew the girl that sat behind him in class was Ladybug? She’d heard he had a crush on her super heroine self. The temptation to look must have been strong. But he didn’t. He could have and he just admitted he’d love to know, but still she was looking at his back. “I just need to feed my kwami and then I can transform again. It won’t take long.” The trust she had in Adrien at that moment was as strong as it was familiar. Her mind drifted to her partner. How many times could he have taken advantage of the situations they found themselves in and gotten his answer? He always respected her wishes. Chat Noir turned the other way. Chat Noir closed his eyes. Chat Noir shut the door. Chat Noir was with her when she was hit by Truth. He could have asked her then. Chat Noir didn’t ask. Instead, he assured her that he wouldn’t. Adrien reminded her so much of him in this moment. She couldn’t help but compare the two boys. They were both kind and self-sacrificing. It had taken her a while to see it with Adrien, but the more she got to know him the more she realized he was as silly as her partner. A bit quieter about it, but definitely silly. As a bonus they were handsome. Both of them. Marinette felt herself blush, but she wasn’t blind. All the comparisons just led her to realize the things she fell in love with Adrien for existed with Chat as well. The realization somehow made her head spin but also felt comforting at the same time. She’d fallen hard for two boys. There was something else. A thought that tickled the corners of her mind. “I’m sure you’ll get us out of here.” He said confidently. “I hope so! Maybe my Lucky Charm can help.” She sighed. “Chat Noir is probably out there wondering where I am.” Adrien winced. Chat Noir was definitely not out there. But it wasn’t really his fault, he’d TRIED to get away from Ladybug. If her Lucky Charm didn’t give them a way out of here. It wouldn’t be her identity that would be revealed. “Ready Tikki?” Marinette started, but her kwami flew away from her towards Adrien. “Tikki?” “Hello Adrien!” Tikki winked at him, and he got the message. “Oh wow! Your name is Tikki, right? You must be Ladybug’s kwami.” Adrien didn’t have to hide his amused smile since Ladybug couldn't see his face. “It’s so nice to meet you!” “The pleasure is all mine!” She giggled. Adrien opened his shirt a bit so Plagg could greet her. He was happy they were getting this moment, however brief. Tikki surprised Adrien when she flew closer to his face and whispered. “This says a lot to me, Adrien. I mean I always knew. But you were tested today.” “Did I pass?” He couldn’t help but pat her head as he whispered in amusement back to her. “What you did means a lot to her.”

Tikki looked at him seriously. “You are so much more than you give yourself credit for.” He felt Plagg press into him closer. “She’s right, kid.” Their words shot straight to his heart. Great, now he was misty-eyed. He’d been hard on himself lately and sometimes he’d get really down and feel useless or replaceable. The encouragement from the kwamis definitely helped. He didn’t notice the extra glances between the kwamis or the silent acknowledgement between them. Tikki flew back towards her holder. “Thanks again, Adrien!” “Yes, thank you!” Marinette echoed her kwami’s words as they shared a nod. “Tikki! Spots on!” Adrien turned around after the pink light faded. “You’re welcome, Ladybug.” Ladybug called on her Lucky Charm. This time it was actually straightforward. A sledgehammer. She took it to one of the outer walls through the drywall and the exterior. Adrien watched. He knew how strong his lady was, but that didn’t stop him from blushing while she made it through quickly. “Well, here’s my exit.” She grabbed her yoyo and looked back at Adrien, knowing he should be safe since the akuma was elsewhere. “Can I trust you to go home and be safe?” “Of course.” Adrien responded. Ladybug swung away towards the akuma. “Liar.” Plagg laughed. “I’ll go home eventually, so technically not a lie.” Adrien shrugged. “Plagg! Claws out!" ———————————————— “Pound it!” The duo said in unison, bumping their fists together. Once they teamed up they made short work of the akuma. Chat had used his cataclysm and both of their miraculous were beeping. They should really get going. Chat Noir noticed Ladybug fiddling with her yoyo. Was she nervous? “Chat.” She hesitated. “Yeah?" “Why don’t we, um… recharge and meet at the tower.” She was definitely nervous. “Are you okay, M’lady?” The concern in his eyes touched her heart. “I’m fine. Great actually. We just really should talk about some things.” He looked down, and she could see his self doubt. Something she’d seen too many glimpses of lately. No. No no no! She wanted to talk about everything now dang it, but she had to recharge. She had to gather her thoughts. She had to talk to Tikki! Her earrings beeped and so did his ring. “Nope. Not going to leave you looking like that.” She scratched under his chin, and he looked up. “Kitty. It’s not a bad talk, I promise. Just meet me there okay?” —————————————————- She hid away as her transformation faded. “Tikki.” “Yes, Marinette.” “Oh Tikki, you’re going to be mad at me.” “Why would I be?” “Well, you see when all that happened with Adrien earlier it reminded me of how trusting and amazing Chat Noir is. So I started comparing him to Adrien. This time I didn’t stop myself. And Tikki, Chat has everything Adrien has and he’s my partner! I trust him so much. I don’t know what to do with how I feel because I’m still in love with Adrien. But I am in love with Chat Noir! I love him Tikki!” Her kwami had the nerve to giggle as she nuzzled her holder’s cheek. “What?” Marinette pouted. “Oh Marinette, you were bound to realize you loved him eventually." Marinette scoffed, but it probably was more obvious than she’d like to admit. “But that’s not it Tikki. I was so worried after what happened with Chat Blanc. But that was one possibility. That was one sequence of events and I don’t even know what all of those events were. Can I really let the words of his akumatized self dictate my life?! Akumatized people say the craziest things you know!” Tikki nodded patiently. “He’s been feeling so down lately. Not all of the time. He has good days and bad days. When I ask him about it he says he’s fine. We’re both good at lying about that I guess.” She sighed. “I told Alya who I am and I trust her. I trust her so much. But the truth is that I trust HIM even more than that. And I just want him to know. I let my fear stop me. And Tikki I distanced myself from him without even realizing it!” “Be kind to yourself Marinette. What happened with Chat Blanc was intense. No one can blame you for feeling upset or

being afraid.” “But I feel so bad for making him feel left out. I pushed him away and I want to pull him back. I want to be closer to him than ever.” Marinette paused. “Tikki, I want to tell him who I am!” She expected her kwami to try to talk her out if it. “You’re a great Guardian, you know that?” “Tikki?” “A good Guardian knows when the time is right.” She cuddled close to her holder and Marinette bursts into tears. It really was time. —————————————————— “Plagg, I don’t know what to think about this.” Adrien began. “Did I do something wrong today? She seemed so serious."

“Kid, she IS serious.”

“Oh, well I know she’s been using other Miraculous holders a lot more lately and I—“

“SHUT. UP.” Plagg’s voice was so stern Adrien clamped his mouth shut immediately. “You listen to ME.”

“A couple of things. First of all, IF it were the case that she’s replacing you, and she’s NOT by the way, she’d be an idiot.” Plagg was in his face. “I’d say we should run away together somewhere else because I do NOT want to lose you. I don’t care if she is the Guardian. She’d be wrong to separate us. You are amazing Adrien! I'm proud of you! Your puns are ridiculous, sure and you can be a total sap. But I mean it when I say, you are the BEST Chat Noir I have EVER had!"

Adrien couldn’t help but smile.

“Secondly, you’ve got it all wrong. She’s been under a lot of pressure and I don’t know everything, but I do know she trusts you. You’re both so young and have way too many responsibilities. You're both doing better than you give yourselves credit for. I think this is a talk you both desperately need. I have an idea about how things will go and just to let you know. I’m good with it.”

“What does that even mean?"

“You’ll find out sooner if you transform and meet up with her.”

So, Adrien did. ——————————————— She was waiting for him high on the Eiffel Tower. He landed quietly beside her, unsure of what to say or do. “I promised this wasn’t a bad talk.” Ladybug winced a little. Unfortunately, if she needed to clear the air she needed to explain a couple of things that she knew would hurt him. “I mean it has a good ending, at least I hope it does. But I have to tell you some things you might not like to hear first.” “I’m all ears.” He sat down. Chat Noir’s emotions were all over the place. On the one hand, whatever she had to say was going to hurt. On the other, she was going to explain things. After feeling like he was being pushed away, if getting closer again had to hurt for a bit, he’d welcome that pain. “First, I have to tell you about Chat Blanc.” Ladybug pulled her knees in to her chest and hugged them as she told him the story. His bleak blue eyes. The hopelessness she felt. She told him of the destruction. She told him how he claimed it was their love that destroyed the world. She told him about her nightmares. She told him all of it as the tears rolled down her cheeks. “You were so alone.” “I’m sorry.” It hurt to hear the story. It hurt to see her cry. She’d been dealing with the nightmares all this time. Nightmares about an akumatized version of him. Even though it didn’t actually happen in this timeline, he felt guilty. “Don’t apologize.” She turned to look at him with red, tear-filled eyes. His eyes had some tears of their own but there was something else. The look he had when he helped her come up with a plan. When he helped talk her down when she’d get worked up in battle. “What is it?” “Well, you told me about it.” He began cautiously. “This is only one possibility out of many. Obviously, Hawkmoth akumatized me. Akuma victims say the weirdest things sometimes. I don’t think this is inevitable at all. In fact, I think since I know about the possibility it gives me, no us, a better chance of preventing it. I wouldn’t ever wish that you would have to go through that at all. But maybe you saw it for a reason. Maybe you saw it so we could be sure that Hawkmoth wouldn’t use… um… our love against us?” She laughed it was a bitter laugh, but the bitterness wasn’t towards her partner. She was bitter at herself for believing the worst would happen if they ever gave a relationship a try. What he just said made too much sense. They had the upper hand if the villain tried to use their love against them, they knew the stakes. “I’ve thought about that more lately too. I think my reaction was to push you away, even if it wasn’t really intentional. I really regret that, you know. Then I was stressing over everything. I was pushing away my friends in my civilian life too. And I told my best friend, aside from you, my secret identity.” Chat Noir and Ladybug’s eyes met. She expected full blown anger or hurt, but the mixture of emotions in his face was difficult to read. Her face on the other hand was so full of guilt and shame and it pained him to see her that way. “Chat, be angry if you need to be. I do not blame you. Talk to me.” Her brows furrowed beneath the mask. She watched his ears, expecting them to droop or lay back flat in anger. But they were twitching and restless instead. “Did it help?” “Hmm?” “To have someone who knows?” “…Yes.” “I’m happy for you then.” He sighed. “Chat.” She glared at him knowingly. “I mean, I’m upset. I won’t lie to you. But I really am also glad you had someone to turn to that you could trust. I wish it could have been me, but you were processing the whole Chat Blanc thing.” He ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. “I’m not going to hold this against you, okay? I can’t. I mean, I have no idea how I would have acted in your shoes. That’s a lot to take in. What if I saw YOU destroy the world? What if akumatized you gave me the same reasons Chat Blanc gave to you? I have no idea how I would have handled it. So, how can I judge how you did?” He paused before adding. “It does mean a lot to me that you told me.” Ladybug

searched his eyes. They were both being so vulnerable, so honest, so raw with their emotions. It hurt to sort it out but at the same time she was feeling relief. A wall was shattering with every word they shared. He was so understanding of her. She also understood his frustration. They sat in silence for a moment. It wasn’t uncomfortable. They were both processing. “I have nightmares too.” Chat looked over Paris, then down at his hand. “You can’t have the power of destruction and not have nightmares.” Oh. She had wondered about that before and now he confirmed it. He didn’t have to say it. She knew at least some of his nightmares involved her and his cataclysm. It made her shudder, but not for her own sake. “Kitty.” Ladybug realized how close they had scooted together. She grabbed his hand and rubbed her thumb over his ring. No fear of it and complete trust in him. “Whenever you have those dreams call me. I’m here. I’m okay.” “Well, when Chat Blanc invades your nightmares, you can call me. I’ll answer. I look better in black anyway.” He smiled at her. “I guess we need burner phones or something first.” “I’m going to go with the ‘or something.’” She remembered the other part of this conversation. It made her excited and nervous and confused in an entirely different way. Ladybug squeezed his hand and then stood straight up, much to his confusion. “Okay, now for the good part.” Her hands started flailing around as she spoke. “Or at least I hope it’s a good part. I’m not sure. I’m still trying to figure everything out but I think it’s good? Sure. Yes. I mean, I hope you’ll like it. And me. Eep! And this will go well right?” He wasn’t given a chance to answer before she responded to her own question. “Absotutely!” “Absotutely?” He smirked. This was different, but she was being absolutely- absotutely? - adorable. “Ahh, just give me a minute alright. I just wanna get it all out there in the open. So just let me talk and get it all out and you can listen.” Ladybug gestured widely. Then began pacing. Chat didn’t even bother hiding the amusement in his eyes. She was so cute! “So, today I was trapped with a civilian, okay?" He just nodded and stared at her as he sat on the beam of the tower. “And I was about to transform back, right?” Chat obviously knew this story, he was there after all but she looked like she was about to combust. So he wouldn’t dare interrupt her. “But he turned around before I could realize I was out of time. He turned around so he wouldn’t see me! It was so considerate and kind. And you know who he reminded me of?” He wasn’t given a chance to answer. Frankly, he wasn’t sure she was breathing at all during her speech. She thrust her finger in his face. “You Chat Noir! He reminded me of you. My brain went into overdrive because he’s so kind and caring and selfless and beautiful. He’s freakin’ gorgeous Chat! But he’s so much more than that. Like you are! You’re so much more than what you give yourself credit for.” Did she say gorgeous? She was talking about Adrien! She was talking about him?! The gears in Chat’s brain were turning. He found himself slowly rising to his feet. What is she saying? Why did he feel so hopeful? Did she know who he was? He hadn’t meant to short-circuit his partner. She had been pacing the other way when she paced back towards him. She allowed herself to meet his eyes. His eyes she had to look up to see. “L-Like right bow… I mean now. Right now you remind me of him. That’s because you’re both wonderful!” Both? He wanted to scream. She didn't know. But he realized something. The pacing. The hands flailing. The stuttering. Suddenly, he was more in love than ever before. “Gah!! Why are you both so t-tall. With the ridiculously stunning green eyes! Is that just the miraculous. No, wait you had green eyes as Mister Bug too. Hmm…” She paused and even swooned a bit before she continued her rambling. Marinette. Marinette Dupain-Cheng!!! His brain was screaming her name so loudly. She was nervous around him because she had a crush on

him?! What?! “So stupid and selfless too!” She put her hands on her hips and glared at him. “Do you know Adrien jumped in front of an akuma for me today!” Ladybug. She’s definitely Ladybug too. His tail was swishing excitedly. His ears were as far up as he’d ever felt them. If she ever stopped to BREATHE long enough maybe she would have realized he was going to combust soon himself. “He’s the LOVE OF MY LIFE! A-Adrien freakin’ Agreste is the other boy! The boy I turned you down for! I’m sorry by the way. I know I’m saying way too much but I just want to get it all out of my head. He reminded me of you! And when he reminded me of you I wanted to tell him everything. Because I TRUST you! I trust you so much Chat Noir!” Maribug. Buginette. Ladynette. Oh, he was going to die happy before she even finished her ramble. She trusts him! She has a crush on Adrien Agreste. It’s not just a celebrity crush either. She knows him. She SEES him! “And the reason I wanted to talk with you is because I’m tired of keeping secrets from you! I can’t do it anymore.” She looked him right in the eye. “I-I don’t know the answers to my questions because y-you and h-him and AHHH! I don’t even know! I just know you HAVE to know who I am!" He realized they had moved further out of sight, and it was the middle of the night anyway. Oh! Was she really going to reveal herself? Sure, he’d already figured it out but was tonight THE night? “I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU AND I TRUST YOU! SPOTS OFF!” The words tumbled out of her mouth.
