📗CLAY X AUSTISTIC! NB! READER
Please note that this is my first time writing an autistic character 🙏🏽 and if i made ANY mistakes please tell me in the comments and i will change it ASAP!
Clay noticed how overwhelmed you were when you went to Pop Village it was to overstimulating with all their bright lights, loud sounds were too much. So he decided taking you away from everyone would help calm you down.
You were walking with Clay he was chatting as you nodded or shook your head in response was you stimmed trying to calm yourself with this new enviroment. Looking at the ground a small ball rolled towards you too.
The ball exploded as a glitter bomb went off infront of you and clay the sound frightening you as the glitter stuck to your skin. The feeling of the glitter and the sound of the bomb going off still ringing in your ears made you shake as you ran off your hands covering your ears.
Clay tried to follow you but he was pulled away by a few trolls that sang. He felt himself fill with anger as he watched you run into the forest. Freeing himself from the trolls who looked at him confused, As he turned around and began running after you.
He ran for awhile trying to listen out for you running from place to place before hearing you wail.
He ran out of breath huffing with his hand son his knees as his eyes landed on you. You had your knees against your chest as you rocked yourself trying to settle down as glitter was scattered around you crying and wailing could be heard from you as you hit the floor beneath you.
His eyes softened as he relaxed his body his chest still jagged as he walked closer to you as you continued to cry shaking as you tried hard to scrape the glitter off of your face.
“Baby?” Clays voice was low as his chest rose and fell rapidly his eyes never leaving you as tears rolled down your face he reached out to touch you before backing away. “Right-no touching. im sorry i- got your headphones you dropped them.” He said reaching to his side to give you your headphones.
You sniffled lifting your head fron your arms are your glitter covered face looked at him with teary eyes. “T-thank you Clay.” Your voice was meek and raspy as you took your headphones from his hands and placing them on your head. The sounds of nature being drowned out by silence giving you somewhat of a relief as you continued to sway and stim rubbing your face.
“Do you want to stay here for awhile or get the glitter off of you?” Clay asked leaning against the rock his face filled with worry as you, you didnt answer him as you closed your eyes basking in the silence your face still cringing in disgust as the glitter was still on your face. “Are you okay?”
Clay was filled with concern as you calmed yourself down. A few minutes passed before you decided to leave looking into Clays worried eyes. “I’m ready to go please.” He sighed in relief sitting up from his spot on the floor dusting himself off.
You walked through the forest making your way back to the village. “I don’t think I can live here Clay… everything is to…UGH it just isnt right nothings the same and it’s so loud all the time.” You vented as Clay listened nodding his head in agreement. Drinking in your form as you walked.
“Yeah it is alot right? I don’t get why they have so much energy 24/7 it’s like having a village full of Vivas.” You both laughed at how reckless that would be. You let out a sigh before looking into your boyfriends eyes.
“T-thank you for being there for me Clay…” You trailed off hesitanting before grabbing his hands. Blushing at how warm he was. He looked at you shocked before a huge smile crawled onto his face.
Turning his head hiding his blush as you did the same. “ eh hm yeah no worries its the least i could do you know i love you alot so i’d do anything for you.” He spoke as you guys walked hand in hand together back to Pop village and to get all the glitter of off you.
After you guys got back he made sure to protect you from any more glitter bombs after that.

If you are not autistic then this fic isn’t for you. There is barly any rep for us and I have always loved x readers. So while no two austistic people are the same. So I do my best to write so many of us can get comfort from it . If you interested in working on differnt fics but this is for my fellow neurodivergent friends.
Most of the time traveling could be handled. You knew an almost 1 day flight from your home in agentina to Japan would be a lot. So you would prep and make sure the flight was never to overwhelming. You made sure to have music and videos downloaded for the flight. As well as many snacks and stim toys. You knew no matter what you do you would be tired. One thing you had forgotten in all you prep was Oikawa first match was tonight not tomorrow.
You felt like a shitty partner because you walked into the gym stood there for a few minutes until Oikawa walked over to check in you.
“ sweat heart?” You looked down at you feet not wanting to disappoint him.
“Is it To much?” You gave him a small nodd.
“I’m sorry” you quietly apologize.
“My darling remember you getting overwhelmed and needing a space to recharge is nothing to apologize for.” He reached into you bag and pulled out your ear protection. He handed them to you so you could put them on exactly how you needed.
“How about you go back to the hotel room and rest. I promise I’ll win this one so you can come watch the next one tomorrow when you feeling slightly better.” You nodded again. He gave you a gentle smile
“is there anything you want me to bring back to the room when I’m done?”
You took a small step forward to let him know you needed to say something. He leaned down so you could speak at the volume you needed.
“Can you pick up my safe food?” You said in almost a whisper.
“Yeah. I can I grab what I can and I’ll see you back at the hotel in a couple of hours. He lifted his finger and kinda pointed at you. He knew you really did not like physical touch wich could be tough seeing as he did love it. So you made compromises. When you couldn’t handle it small touches like taking you pointer finger and booping his finger. Was a way you showed you cared without really stressing you out. It was almost you version of a hug for when you were to over stimulated. He made sure you got a into the oober.
You walked into the hotel room and changed into a comfy pair of pjs
You loved watching his games. Being there to celebrate when he wins. Sitting there next to him when he looses tik support him. You really did love going and he knew. But here you were sitting in a dark room. Wrapped in you favorite blanket trying to relax.
You heard a gentle knock on the hotel door and the sound of it being open. You hid under the blanket as the bright light filled the room.
“Oh shoot sorry a baby.” Oikawa voice filled the room. You heard his footsteps.
“We won the match and I brought you back your safe food. I’m gonna go take a shower. If you feeling better after maybe we can put something on the tv.”
You watched your boyfriend get ready for a shower as you slowly ate you food. It most defiantly helped. As You felt better.
Oikawa came out of the shower wearing matching pjs to you making you happy.
“I like those pj.” You said softly.
“I know it why I put them in. It helps that they are really comfortable.” He sat down in the bed and made sure you had you space.
“Okay here the remotes what we watching?” Todays like today are why you know Oikawa will alway love you. Even when he’s had a king day he still takes care of you and never has said a word when you can’t deal with something.

Resurrected AU part 9? in this economy?
ehehehehehe i got so many thoughts (derogatory) (help)
- Freya's new hobby is telling the rest of the family and funny stories from when Baldur and Heimdall were kids
- one of Baldur's favourite stories is how Asgard had a lot of beautiful ponds when they were growing up. Said ponds had frogs. Baldur used to be terrified of frogs. Heimdall, being the good older brother he is, used to push Baldur into the ponds filled with frogs and he'd cry everytime.
Odin got so tired of it after a while that he filled every pond inside the walls.
- Heimdall stomping over to Kratos being like "father I'm THIS close to losing it, come here please" and just. Grabs his face. Staring into his eyes.
"... Heimdall?"
"yes?"
"what are you doing?"
"oh. Right. Well you see, you have the calmest mind ever when you're not fighting so it helps me relax"
"... Okay.."

- Heimdall learns to love to paint, but he only ever paints the views he had from up in the wall. He misses Asgard.
- what if one day, everyone is out and Heimdall stays home to clean because no one else does it otherwise. The door swings open and Heimdall immediately grabs his sword, not recognizing the presence. Before him stands a dwarf in gold armour. Heimdall sees the confusion on the dwarf's face as they stare at each other for a bit. he knows who the dwarf is, but he doesn’t seem to recognize Heimdall, so they’re both playing it safe-
"Who are you and what are you doing in my house?"
"what do you mean with your house? This is my father's"
"Who might your father be then?" the dwarf steps forward, holding a sword in his hand. Heimdall doesn't fail to notice of course. This dwarf was quite brave, or stupid.
"Kratos is the name of my father" Heimdall says proudly.
The dwarf freezes. He looks the man In front of him up and down "a... Atreus? That can't be, I wasn't gone for that long-"
Heimdall frowns and scoffs "I look nothing like my brother. He'd wish he could look even an ounce as graceful as me."
Sindri is even more confused now. "Then who are you?"
Heimdall is slightly offended, but to be fair, he wasn’t wearing any of his usual armour and he had his hair down instead of his usual braids.
Heimdall tsks at the dwarf "do you really not recognize the god of foresight? Heimdall, the whitest of the gods, herald of Ragnarok?" he states dramatically.
Sindri almost attempts to cut his head off right there and then but Heimdall just sheaths his sword and walks closer to him. Sindri backs up against the door, thinking the god is about to kill him but instead Heimdall just glares at him and then looks down.
"you have horrendous manners. Take your damn shoes off" and walks off into the house.
Sindri.exe has stopped working.
- Atreus made a big painting of Brok and hung it on the wall near the dinner table, Sindri noticed it after almost attempting to stab Heimdall and just ends up staring at it while crying silently.
Ofc Heimdall notices and grabs an old sketchbook from Atreus’ room, ripping out a page and handing it to Sindri before continuing to clean the house.
It's filled with doodles of Brok.
"don't worry, he rarely checks his old drawings" Heimdall says to the dwarf who was very confused on why Heimdall of all people was being kind to him.
Sindri opens his mouth to thank him but instead just zips away, leaving Heimdall alone in the house again.
- Small gifts with notes attached start appearing near Lunda's forges. She never notices Heimdall grabbing them and switching them with notes of his own, occasionally leaving a small gifts too.
- Heimdall actually quite enjoys writing notes about how everyone is doing to the dwarf, the replies are never boring either. They get along quite well, even though Sindri never really shows himself
- one day when Heimdall and Baldur are going to fish, Heimdall notices that there's a slowed heartbeat under the dirt in the pond. A toad.
He points it out to Baldur. Baldur's eye twinkle with mischief but before Heimdall can stop him, he's already dived into the pond.
Few minutes pass and Baldur comes back up, laughing hysterically as he hold a big, fat struggling toad with an annoyed glare permanently stuck on his face.
Heimdall looks in disgust at his brother "you are NOT keeping that thing"
"his name is Dagsetr the second :D"
"oh for fucks sake"
- Kratos and Freya let Baldur keep his new toad companion.
- Baldur DEFINITELY licks the road to get high, which just earns a disappointed sigh from Freya.
"your uncle would've been very proud of you"
"heh, awesome."
- Mimir spend a lot of time taking care of Heimdall when he was young and you can definitely tell with the way the 2 of them have banter
- I'd like to imagine that both Atreus and Heimdall start talking a bit like Mimir, like just imagine Heimdall muttering "oh bollocks..." under his breath or Atreus mimicking his accent without realizing it
- Heimdall and Atreus fighting a bunch of enemies, Heimdall yells "Atreus! To your left!" and Atreus looks but there's nothing "there's nothing to my le-" *enemy suddenly jumps him from the left*
*insert startled screaming from Atreus*
Heimdall just rolls his eyes and goes "why do you never listen to me Jotunn"
- at one point Heimdall stumbles across an old Odin altar some mortals made.
Something inside of him snaps at the sight of it and he destroys it
His angry screaming can be heard from miles away, the Midgardians who heard it don't even dare look at him as he stomps back home.
- whenever Heimdall fears something, Kratos will teach him to overcome said fear.
Oh you're scared of spears? Guess I'll teach you how to use them.
Vanaheim makes you anxious? What a shame, we're gonna pick flowers there now.
- the more Heimdall spends time with the dwarves, the more he learns to appreciate their craft. his eyesight helps with noticing all the small details they put in.
cue their surprise when he strikes up conversations about how beautiful their work is but thinks the stitches doesnt fit with the buckle designs, or how he thinks the certain type of leather would look better combined with an other type of metal. he somehow manages to compliment them and insult them at the same time-

Only Friends Episode 11 Thoughts
Not sure how I’m feeling about this episode y’all. There’s a lot that’s up in the air for me atm, so it largely depends on how ep 12 goes.
First of all, look I knew I was delusional about TopMewBoeing, I said I was delusional, and I don’t give a shit, I’m still gonna keep shipping them regardless of endgame status. They’re cute as hell and Mew being mean to Boeing and reading him for filth did things to me 😭
I’m just gonna make a separate post about BostonNick coz I have a lot of stuff to process LMFAO
Mew continues to be the king of vagueness and backtracking on things he’s said but not really because he still means it. 👑 I don’t particularly dislike him, I feel for him, but being friends with him would be a nightmare for my austistic ass coz I really need him to be more straightforward with what he wants
Boeing throwing himself at anyone who will make eye contact is what I love in a blorbo. One of the couples needs to adopt this man istg I always fall for characters who show up in the final act and end up ALONE and it drives me crazy.
Boeing’s back is SO FIT
Honestly this episode was so lowkey and drama-free it made me nervously uncomfortable. Episode 11 curse who?? TopMew reconciliation cuddles, Ray trying to get his life together and making solid plans for the future, Boston wanting to be boyfriends with Nick, Atom not even getting skinned alive??? I’m gonna spend a week waiting for the other shoe to drop
Atom got way less than he deserved tho fr this boy arguably did the shittiest thing in the show and he doesn’t even get tossed in the pool? Not even a little tiny murder attempt??? Not even a slap????? Not even someone sending that boy’s personal info to Jehovah’s Witness so they could haunt him the rest of his life??? I’m honestly disappointed in this—I’M SURE IT’S A SIGN OF CHARACTER GROWTH THAT ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF DRAMA BUT IT’S NOT WHAT *I* WANT TO SEE

hello! it’s your gifter again! would you mind sharing some of your headcanons for ozqrow and nuts n dolts? i’m curious
some of my thoughts on ozqrow:
I think ozqrow had the slowest burn relationship not of power dyanmics complication while Qrow was at Beacon but Ozpin doesnt open his heart to relationship but Qrow 100% trust Ozpin above all else and Ozpin has trust Qrow as well. Letting know about his past live relationship did not end well and that why he is reluctant. But this trust scares him if know fairytale of The Infinite Man. All previous follower's of Ozpin had been wiped out by Salem and Ozpin failed them. So when Qrow was mad at Ozpin it was hurt of hurting Qrow that made Ozpin go into hiding in Oscar's head. I think about it all the time.
Happy thought, on nuts n dolts though is that the pair are the living personfication of meme of the badass I pulled with my austistic swag but it goes both ways. I do live for aroace rubyrose (sex neutral & romantic questionning) For Penny. Its just I dont like sometimes penny is placed as aroace because she is a 'robot'. But Penny and Ruby are soulmates so I think they would overcome any complication in their relationship because what is important to them is being together and having fun.

I saw a new gem anime as it but I can’t find which!
A girl in my college is so sweet and wants to watch anime and ask me about it so I thought if I could find this one she could enjoy it!
Of what I know there’s no canon representation for autistic or ppl with ds, some of the characters might have like some traits but nothing is canon.
and i think it’s pretty difficult to find an anime with that kind of representation, but if i’m being honest i think she’ll enjoy with or with not representation, she just has to find the one she likes! I can recommend you JJK, Spy X Family, Danganronpa, Junji ito Maniac, if she’s more like into action/dark stuff yk, but if she likes love genre I would recommend mmmm… idk man tbh, but netflix has rlly cute love animes!!
Of what i heard (don’t know if it’s true/canon) L from death note & Sai from Naruto Shippuden have autism, but don’t believe me, i don’t know if it’s true 😭

wanted to agree with your good doctor post
i hate this trend of being seen as a bad person if you enjoy media that has anything problematic in it..it takes away focus from actual issues to play a game of oh im a more moral person than you
agree yeah of course the transphobia shit was weird but if people assume all austistic people are like this one tv character then that's their fault.. and we barely get any representation and even less as main characters so it's not fair to tell people that one stupid moment means they can't like a show
i saw people saying shauns meltdown was unrealistic and that's why they were memeing it but no it's not unrealistic and allistic people were using it to bully autistics.. i saw it referenced on random autistic people's posts for a while after
my big gripe with the show however is that they support and, i think, work with autism speaks which sucks obviously
Before I respond to this ask, I want to make it clear that I know the issues I’m going to discuss are potentially sensitive — you’re free to criticize me but do it in a constructive manner and don’t be an ass over it lol.
Yeah, I looked into the Autism Speaks stuff and while I couldn’t find anything directly tying Autism Speaks to The Good Doctor specifically, Freddie Highmore is tied to them (as in he made a video for them or something like that). For now I’m giving him benefit of the doubt with a massive serving of caution, since as I mentioned it feels more like he did a lot of personal research consulted with actual autistic people and not with people who claim to know about autism. Like to be completely honest, The Good Doctor does not feel like it was written with input from Autism Speaks, at least to me.
(Sent this to my drafts so I could formulate a more accurate/proper opinion on the trans thing. Basically started writing a response, paused, watched She [season 1 episode 14], and now I'm back to finish my response to this ask)
With the transphobia thing, from what I know, by the end of the episode Shaun was being respectful of the patient’s preferred pronouns and he was the one to suggest removing both testicles once it was found that one had cancer and should be removed. That alone had me like “He’s just confused by this, he’s not trying to be a dick” which was actually my mentality at one point, which I think is why saying Shaun is transphobic pisses me off so much honestly. “Transness was a confusing concept to him, therefore he was transphobic” is a gross take honestly. He grew up in an abusive home, then was homeless, then probably never got exposed to the concept of being trans. Why would he not be confused? I know I was as a kid; it doesn’t help that I was raised by Mormon conservative grandparents. Now I identify as non-binary.
I’m not saying you can’t criticize Shaun saying “you’re a boy not a girl” but I also think it’s disingenuous to say he was actively being transphobic or disrespectful because he wasn’t; he was simply confused because it was a new concept to him and was stubborn about it, and that’s not an uncommon thing in my experience. Outside of that, he was trying to learn. He didn't hesitate to ask questions (even asking if he was being inflammatory because he was told he was by one of his colleagues when Quinn got her CT scan earlier), and he even took one of Quinn's analogies to heart at the end (comparing her transition and the freedom that came with it to floating in a pool).
Piggybacking off of that, Shaun is an incredibly empathetic person. I didn't actually realize it until I was scrolling through TikTok, but there are multiple types of empathy (I think this is what is meant when people say "autistic people struggle with empathy"; you might not struggle with one kind of empathy but you might with other types of empathy). The episode She is an incredibly example of this. Empathy can show as an attempt to get to understand why someone thinks how they do; Shaun's subplot in She exemplifies this (I didn't know what else to call it besides a subplot lol). In doing this, Shaun also seems to really bond with Quinn, and I'm gonna be honest, by the end of the episode I was genuinely crying.
To address the "Shaun's meltdown was unrealistic" I also found out that shutdowns are essentially internalized meltdowns (as in they're two sides of the same coin). There are so many ways that meltdowns and shutdowns can present; a lot of my meltdowns have involved me self-isolating and throwing things, vs tantrums which usually involved yelling and no longer happen as I am 19 and have grown out of them (although meltdowns have also in the past involved me yelling too, although it wasn't as common. Granted I experience shutdowns a hell of a lot more than meltdowns).
The other thing with that: can hospital personnel even do that? Can they force residents to switch departments like that? Can you force a surgical resident to switch to pathology like that?? After medical school you enter residency to study your specific field of medicine that you want to go into (for example, if I want to go into neurology, after med school I'd become a neurology resident). Residency DOES NOT FUCKING WORK LIKE THAT AS FAR AS I KNOW????
Not just is Shaun's meltdown realistic, hospitals don't generally work like that, you can't force residents to switch specialties like that lol.
Anyway long post over, I am so normal about The Good Doctor :)

A video with some great, common sense talking points.
Biological sex is not ‘assigned at birth’ these are highly trained medical professionals. They know what constitutes being male or female. And the vast majority of male babies will be boys, until they grow into men and the vast majority of female babies will be girls until they grow into women. (4:16)
This is not news.
They talk about how children or teens discomfort with their bodies can have a whole range of causes, other than ‘being trans’. And not allowing for these possibilities, long before drastic bodily changes are begun is letting these vulnerable youngsters down.
As Helen Joyce points out. Imagine being a teenage girl who’s had a hysterectomy for ‘being trans’ (1:46) only later to realise that it was a mistake. She might simply be lesbian, she might be suffering the effects of childhood abuse, she might be on the Austistic Spectrum et etc.
Now I’m not ‘Gender Critical’. In fact I couldn’t even tell you what it means.
But I do know that even by the time I was in my teens during the 1980s, we had woken to the exciting and liberating knowledge that aside from your biology, there’s no single way of being a girl/woman or a boy/man. (4:50)
There are ‘traditional gender roles’. But I’m not of the opinion that there’s anything harmful about them, as long as they remain just one of many options.
You can be a traditionally feminine woman/masculine man
You can be a masculine woman/feminine man
Or you can be androgynous. You can mix m & f up in your own way, until it looks like both at once or neither.
And it’s all Good.
So if you’re saying that you ‘don’t feel like a man, you feel like a woman’ or you don’t feel like a woman, you feel like a man.’
What else are the rest of us meant to understand, other than that you are clinging to ‘stereotypes’ to explain that you are not the one your biological sex says that you are?
I don’t ‘feel’ like a woman. I couldn’t begin to tell you what that would be like.
I’m a biologically female human being. And in the English language the word used to describe me as a child was ‘girl’ and now I’m an adult it’s ‘woman’.
My father, my husband and our sons are biologically male human beings. As children the English language described them as ‘boys’ and now they are adults as ‘men’.
It’s not meant to be a matter for feelings and subjectivity. These things have always been defined objectively.
None of this is actually ‘transphobic’. It simply recognises how being being ‘trans’ has always been objective up until recently.(5:25)
And frankly it’s better that way, for everyone, surely?

the singer sia is an ableist
((i know scrolling through and reblogging long posts can be annoying sometimes, but if you have the time please read through and reblog because i’m sick and people need to know about this))
this movie is called music and it’s about a supposedly about a nonverbal, austistic girl named music. the problem? music is played by maddie ziegler
maddie is neurotypical (individuals of typical developmental, intellectual, and cognitive abilities,) ie: she is NOT on the spectrum and NOT disabled. so there’s the first issue. but then we get into sia’s response to the whole thing which ends up being worse somehow
people are obviously and rightfully upset with maddie’s casting.
so what was sia’s response to the criticism?
“oh well, we tried”
now i work as a paraprofessional in an elementary school and many of our students are on the spectrum, nonverbal, disabled, or some combination of all three and/or more. sometimes working with students with disabilities can be challenging but the biggest lesson i have learned in the last 3 years is that there are always ways to be ACCOMMODATING because it often is a LOT more difficult for the student who is neurodiverse than the adult who is neurotypical. i have seen tremendous growth when working with students with educational and social disabilities when they are given the appropriate accommodations, patience, and understanding.
the actress sia and this team worked with probably did find the whole situation daunting and stressful, because like the fucking movie says in the trailer, her brain is DIFFERENT FROM OURS. if this movie was really about spreading awareness about disabilities, they would have accommodated to the actress so that she could work stress free and feel safe and if they couldn’t figure out how to do that, they shouldn’t have made the fucking movie at all
sia also manages to criticize sex workers and people struggling from addictions at the same time during her “defense”

i’m not trying to be a proponent of cancel culture but this is fucking DISGUSTING. sia is trying to justify her actions with ableist bullshit. she’s upset that people are judging her movie “before they’ve seen it” when it’s CLEARLY NOT WORTH SEEING because like many people have pointed out, this movie is NOT an accurate portrayal of disabilities, not accessible, the people involved clearly didn’t put the effort and time into making something that actually brought any kind of awareness, and all of this boils down to sia and her team being a bunch of ableist who weren’t willing to put in the effort or time.
imagine having such a large platform as these celebrities have and creating an ableist, garbage piece of media that only polarizes and discriminates even further and then acting like you’re the victim in the situation. i’m DISGUSTED, APPALLED, ANGERED, and OUTRAGED and you should too.
people on the spectrum matter, nonverbal people matter, people with disabilities matter, neurodiverse people matter.
while we do our social justice thing to shut down racism, sexism, homophobia, etc, let’s remember to shut down ableism as well because it fucking matters too

When did people get so comfortable about admitting they have autism or ADHD or other things? I was diagnosed with NLD as an adult and it’s something I’ll take to the grave. Only people who know are me, the psychologist, and my father. I would NEVER admit to it with my real name or even my online name. Not even with an alias. But people are just out here going “oh I’m austistic.” I’d rather eat poison than admit to having a learning disability under anything that can be connected to me.

That sounds like a you problem.
I mean, sure, I too side-eye people who think their extreme sensitivity to rejection is other people's problem, but just admitting you're neurodivergent? Why is that bad?
Do you realize how much of "default nerd personality" is just neurodivergence? I know fandom is mainstream now, so the ye olde SF fandom vibes are fewer, but geekdom used to be dominated by what was pretty obviously a collection of autism and ADD/ADHD traits.
Learning disability? Sheesh. Yeah, that's one part of what these things can be, but when people openly claim their neurodivergence, they're often talking about it as just that: divergence.
The way their brains are is weird. They think differently. But is it a disability? It certainly can be, but that isn't always the best lens to analyze it through, especially in social spaces that are heavily neurodivergent, and especially in adult life where we can hopefully control more of our surroundings, mitigating the bad parts and playing up the good parts of being different.
I like people with really intense interests who can obsessively discuss them for hours. Sure, the extreme monotone lecturing version gets boring, and I want friends who can do some give and take, but if you aren't a total nerd, why would I want to talk to you?
There can be instances where You Must Be This Neurodivergent To Ride This Ride.
That's why people on here talk about it as one of their demographics, no more shameful than their ethnicity or orientation.

This is based off of one of your earlier responses to an anon, but John immediately suspected Adrian was austistic and him asking for irl tone indicators confirmed that. At first John would just say “I’m being sarcastic” or “I’m being serious” but eventually they developed a system where they sign tone indicators, like for /lh they’d just sign an L and an H while they’re talking. They end up doing it so often they end up doing it subconsciously, and Leota and Emelia start doing it to, Chris tries his best but he’s a little confused and ends up flailing his hands a bit.
Adrian MAJORLY hyperfixates and it’s either vaguely obsessive and lasts forever or he dedicates every waking second to it and it lasts for like a week and then he sleeps all day after it goes away because he’s sad.
Also he only infodumps if he’s really comfortable around people he’s really comfortable with because when he was younger he would infodump and people would shoot him down. But if he infodumps and you’re genuinely interested he’ll happy stim himself into next week
Speaking of happy stims, he has a lot. He does his arm waves thing, and flappy arms. He also does the excited bend over stinky feet thing. He bounces on his toes, rocks forward and backward, sways back and forth, and he does this thing where he taps his fingers together in alternating patterns to the rhythm of whatever song is stuck in his head.
Chris has ADHD and to stim he does little dances and jumps and drums his fingers on the table.
Chris and Adrien both get sensory overload over little tactile things, and they both flip their socks inside out so that they can’t feel the seams on the inside.
Adrian gets auditory sensory overload and buys little earbuds that don’t even play music they just block out sound. He literally puts them in while people are trying to talk to him.
Chris has the same thing with visual overstimulation and Adrian can tell when he’s getting overstimulated because he squeezed his eyes closed so he’ll literally come up behind him and lean against him with his head on his shoulder and put his hands over his eyes from behind him. At first he acted like he was mad about it but he finds it super endearing and also Adrian is warm so it’s fine.
John really loves sensory stimulation like music, especially sped up music because it goes brrr. Also that’s why he loves listening to people talking, like if he cares about you could talk to him for hours and he’ll listen super genuinely to everything you’re saying and the sound of your voice. Also he absolutely adores the sound of your laugh, like i know people say that a lot but the sound of it genuinely makes him feel butterflies in his heart and he can’t help but smile and he’ll do anything to hear it again.
Also Chris gets nervous about physical contact for four reasons: one, he know how strong he is and he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Two, his dad. In general. Three, he doesn’t want to look dumb. Four, LIGHT TOUCHES ARE ICKY??? IT TICKLES EWWWWW.
But if you hug him tight he will absolutely break down in your arms because AAAHAJSHAJS HIS HEART. Also if you’re cuddling he loves it when you lay on top of him because pressure makes anxiety go away.

I read one of ur responses to an anon abt how the punishment of cas for not understanding/being indifferent to ideals of masculinity is rooted in ableism and I’ve been thinking that for so long but I feel like no one ever acknowledges it and idk of its cause I’m autistic and relate to cas or whatever but it’s particularly annoying so like yeah idk why I said this besides like I’m happy to see u share that opinion w me I guess lol
Yeah like. There is a very fine line people walk where Cas expresses some form of gender non conformity and it often slips into him being childish. Like buying sparkly girl notebooks or whatever. It’s obviously not wrong for a man to like feminine things, but when it’s specifically focused on him like things that are usually reserved for little girls/children it’s like really creepy and weird. And ableist! Like I think it’s fair to call it ableist. And I see it semi-regularly in fic (fic that appears on rec lists, even), so I completely understand.
Cas is weird, and he’s austistic, and he’s to some degree gender non-conforming, and all of those things are good and worth celebrating about him. But I find a common trend in fic is to just condense all of that into him behaving in a juvenile manner and it’s incredibly off-putting. In the most abstract sense like yes, he’s an ancient cosmic entity who isn’t aware that like a unicorn stuffy is a thing little girls like, but this is a fictional character being filtered through the lens of our own reality, and those associations mean things. If you make Cas fixated on fucking children’s cartoons and other childish stuff as an expression of his own “weirdness” (however you define that term), it’s going to come off as infantilising no matter the in-universe justification. Again like, this is context dependent, Dean also likes cartoons, etc etc, but it’s a particular brand of infantilisation that happens with Cas that is especially uncomfortable.
