Ohhh, I'm rereading Mystra's entry in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide... and this detail:

This means Gale was punished for trying to restore and preserve what he thought was a lost piece of Mystra's magic. Gale being Mystra's ex-lover put aside. He as her follower, she his goddess, was punished for attempting to do the one foundational rule of her faith.

I'm seething and so sad at the same time.

Edit: I used the word punish loosely, as in, toxic/abusive people will take any small mistake or action and twist it into something they can take advantage of. This post was also largely from the stand point of a toxic deity rather than a toxic partner, but both takes are valid here. Especially with the, “you didn’t stay compliant so now I’m giving you the silent treatment” part of it—from a god and a partner perspective.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people shit on straight couples in shipping and in general as a "joke" lately, particularly in the Dungeon Meshi fandom. Friendly reminder that, besides the evil straights, when you mock or put down straight couples for being straight/"not queer enough", you also make bi and pan people, and trans and ace people who experience hetero attraction feel unwelcome and lesser. Negativity hurts, love is love, happy valentine’s!

At this point I gotta ask, the ones that do this, did you forget Noah is a real person? Writing about a fictionalized version of him is one thing, we all know how to separate fiction from reality. Or so I thought.

But in order to safely engage with rpf you have to keep this line intact. This includes not treating the real person you use as inspiration for your work like a Barbie doll whose boundaries you can step all over.

This isn't a matter of "you don’t know if he'd be okay with this or not". We live in an age where AI porn that uses real people without consent, and often without them even knowing, is a real, massive issue. I’m not in any way saying a chat bot is anywhere near this level, but it’s not helping.

You might think feeding Noah's voice to a chat bot is harmless and silly fun. But it’s normalizing something we should be fighting against and it’s making it worse.

I was trying to think of a way to say this kindly, but fuck it.

Noah is a real human being, treat him like one, he's not the guy living in your head or your fics, they're not the same. One is real, the other isn't. Apparently some of you need that reminder.

This is kinda a follow-up to my last post. I’m fully rewatching s4 rn for the first time since it came out and I’m sorry but I don’t see how Dustin and Mike are in the wrong with the Hellfire campaign/championship game situation. I love Lucas and I feel absolutely awful every time I see him sad, but I don’t think anyone was in the wrong here. I just think that they all had different priorities bc they’re growing up and unfortunately that happens.

Dustin and Mike did exactly what Lucas asked of them, they asked Eddie to move the campaign. Then they got denied and given a whole speech about how they’re the whole future of the club by a person who took them in when they felt left behind by Lucas, and people expect them to ditch HF to go to the game? I’m sorry but no. Not to mention the campaign was planned beforehand and obv no one expected the team to get to the championship game or else they would’ve had a sub for Lucas prepared. It was a scheduling conflict. It happens. It sucks but no one’s at fault for it.

I know we’ve cradled these books and characters for so long and I’m so glad it’s been something people can let themselves feel and care about so strongly! But like again - these aren’t my books, they’re not my characters, and it is nowhere near my or anyone else’s place to relay these feelings and headcanons to Sakavic yk? She’s putting herself out there AGAIN and I hope no matter what happens or who ends up together we can all enjoy it and be happy there’s another book! I know the majority of readers are just thrilled for Jean’s story so we gotta be louder than the little subset of people that might be upset if it ‘doesn’t go their way’.

there’s a certain dystopian aspect of getting an emergency alert about potential rolling black-outs asking people to conserve energy and then driving down through the city and seeing hundreds of billboards and bright signs, including for stores that are closed

rolling black-outs in -40C weather is dangerous, that can very easily have a death toll. we should turn off lights we aren’t using, put on another layer instead of turning up the heat, cook with our microwaves instead of the stove or oven, but most importantly, we need to continue advertising.

If you’re in the UK, please for the love of all things holy take the incoming heatwave seriously!! These aren’t going to be regular, nice summer days for lounging on the beach— this heat is going to kill people.

Don’t risk being outside if you can help it on Monday and Tuesday. And dear lord, if you are going out, PLEASE don’t put yourself in situations where you could get hurt or require others to come rescue you - i.e by jumping into rivers, swimming out to sea, etc. Even if you think nothing will happen, it’s not worth any kind of risk. The NHS is under so much strain right now and it is going to be even worse in A&E the next few days. The last thing they need is any more people clogging up emergency services with heat stroke or injuries that could have been prevented by taking more care!!
