I can imagine a Hanahaki AU! being valid with Percy and Nico.

Remember how Hades cursed the oracle? I’m thinking what if, as punishment to Hades’ infidelity to Persephone, Persephone herself cursed his demigod children with the disease? I mean it’s so perfect with Persephone, as flowers would bloom in the chest. Nico and Bianca were in Lotus Casino for decades and Hazel was dead for decades too, so what if they all just forgot about it? And later, when Nico develops feelings for Percy, the curse takes its effects, and Persephone can’t take it back at this point because it has already started. So Nico is slowly dying throughout the series and as his health rapidly deteriorates, the other demigods only thought that its due to his powers, but it actually isn’t.

What if Jason and Reyna finds out about it (like how they find out that he is gay/has a crush on Percy) and when Nico finally dies, only they know the real reason why---
