Magic on the Horizon - by Isabella Tabacchi
Isabella Tabacchi’s ‘Magic in the Horizon’ captures the Milky Way shining above the Dolomites after the quarantine with Hasselblad X1D II and XCD 3,5/30.
The XCD 30 boasts extremely high performance and a compact build, providing a 71º horizontal angle of view. A unique feature is that the 30mm keeps its amazing performance even when shooting at close distances.

Group 3: PHOTOGRAPHY
Photographer: Martin Schoeller
Type: Portrait
This photograph is of Angelina Jolie in the year 2000, and I believe the intention of this up-close shot was to perfectly capture her fiery spirit. To be clear, it helps to show off the bold personality that people associate her with by having her look off to the side in a somewhat mischievous manner. Additionally, the bright red blood dripping down the side of her chin also reinforces that idea because people often associate red with powerful feelings of danger and desire.

Type: Landscape
This photograph was taken in Arnisee, Switzerland, by Isabella Tabacchi on a winter morning.
Photographer: Matt Collishaw
Type: Still-life
This photograph is one of many still-lifes that Mat Collishaw created to showcase the last meals prisoners consumed before being given the death penalty. This one, however, showcases the story of Paul Nuncio, a 31-year-old who brutally murdered and assaulted Pauline Farris during a home invasion. To start, I believe Collishaw included this as his subject matter not to give light to the prisoners who committed these heinous acts but to bring discussion to the victims who tragically lost their lives. To add to this, he even further proves this by having these photographs be darker in tone, creating an ominous atmosphere that serves to remind us the sinister nature of the deeds that brought them there in the first place.
Therefore, the message is to never glorify violence and to constantly be mindful of the suffering these victims endured.
