Me whenever a pro Jedi person uses Shmi Skywalker to promote the Jedi way:

They act as if she knew when to let go so Anakin become a Jedi Knight, but this ignores a lot of context. Shmi was a slave and she didn’t have much of a choice because it was either Anakin leave and have a chance at a better life or have him stay on Tattooine and risk him becoming a slave again. Of course she is going to want Anakin to leave, any mother in that situation would want the same. This is not a situation of Shmi being able to love in an unattached way, it is Shmi being a mother who wants better for her child.
