“Thinking about your Brother?”
“We’ve never been apart this long.”
Here’s a moment I don’t see a lot more of people talking about, the devastated look in Mario’s eyes just kills me. He probably feeling so much guilt over losing Luigi after he basically forced him down into the sewers just to try and prove to their father wrong. Not to mention how utterly terrified he also must be, not knowing if Luigi had been hurt, or if he was even still alive.
He must be remembering the last interaction he had with him, wondering if that would be the last memory he would ever have of his little brother. As well as his father disapproving words:
“And the worst part? You're bringing your brother down with you.”

Happy Friday!
Practicing slight and sudden moves, turn around and breathing, which I always thought it was weird to illustrate

Bowser decides to flirt with a sweet and flattered Luigi and Mario’s overprotective big brother instincts won’t allow it.

I'm hopping onto the older mario & younger luigi trend except putting my own personal twist onto it.
tw for bad luck with foster care and child abandonment
Mario was sixteen when his parents abandoned him, leaving him with his one year old baby brother. They battled the foster system and Mario struggled so much for three years to try and gain custody of Luigi. For so long he was only allowed to visit, but he was so desperate to have his little brother (his only family left) back in his life that he resorted to giving up his dreams of becoming a doctor so he could get a stable job in the Wrecking Crew, finally winning custody of his brother, who was four at this point and extremely skittish due to having bad luck in the Foster system.
Mario felt like he failed as an older brother, and deep down he felt like he failed as a parent. But he always tried to do his best for Luigi, trying to keep him in education and give him everything he possibly could. At around six years old, Luigi called him dad for the first time. Mario then sat him down and said he couldn't call him dad, as he felt undeserving of the title. He didn't feel like he deserved to be the dad of this bright and brilliant child, all he wanted was to give Luigi a good life.
Luigi was a prodigy student, graduating high-school at 15. But instead of going into higher education like Mario had wanted him to, Luigi instead insisted he'd start working with him so Mario could start his own business and not have to stay in Spike's company.
This is when movie canon goes down. It's more severe, as this is Mario's *kid* in danger, and he'll do anything he can to get him safely back in his arms. Whilst alternatively Luigi is nothing if not a teenager, who's so dead set on the idea that his dad is going to save him that he doesn't feel the need to be too afraid.
Well, we'll see how long that lasts.

I have an impression that Luigi was bullied at school and that Mario always defended him from bullies 🥺
I just wanted to say that ❤️‍🩹
Yes 🥺
Mario taking on any bully at school - no matter how big or strong - to protect his beloved brother ❤💚

Some Super Mario headcannons lol
Mario
-Full name is Mario Mario Mario cause it's funny
-He sucks at golf lmao
-He's actually a good cook
-He's actually really afraid of supernatural stuff. Ghosts, the undead, that weird Piano thing
-There's actual a reason why I think this. If you haven't notice, anything supernatural in the Mario universe can not be easily defeated. Dry bones will rebuild themselves, that one piano with sharp teeth you can't defeat, You can't punch or jump on boo's (Doesn't help that he's been trapped by these guys THREE TIMES). Mario really can't defeat these guys with a simple punch/kick and that unnerves him to a high degree
-Mario doesn't show much vulnerability because he's either fighting an enemy or knows that the mushroom kingdom relies on him. He knows that if he panics then everyone else will panic.
-However, if you ever confront him about things or give him a hug after its all over he'll totally melt
-Mario loves his brother, not a headcanon, some of y'all just need a reminder >:(

for your older mario and younger luigi au, do you have any other thoughts from pre-canon? living situation, growing relationship (dad 🥺), etc etc?
Hi! Thank you so much for sending an ask, and I do indeed! Trigger warnings apply for child neglect and abandonment
Mario grew up with his mum and dad, who were never very present. Mario had to raise himself from the age of four, and never really got to experience a childhood outside of what he did in school with all of his friends. His parents commonly were out drinking or working, and when they went on holiday they'd leave him at home for weeks at a time. He never got to experience a happy childhood, in fact he never had one at all. He did consider calling cps, but he was too afraid because of all the horror stories he had seen.
He decided he'd choose his own path in life, do what he wanted for a change. He wanted to live for himself and no one else. He wanted to be a doctor, help people who needed it, just like he had. That was until his mother had fallen pregnant again. When his little brother was born, Mario felt more love for this small baby than he had anyone else in his entire life. This was his little brother, and since he knew his parents weren't going to be there for him, Mario was.
He took care of this newborn child, he fed him his bottles, did tummy time with him, weened him into eating food, encouraged him to crawl, played with him (with the toys he bought him out of his savings), bathed him, everything. Despite what his friends would say, he didn't care that he was doing all of this. To him, he felt like he was doing something right. He wanted to do this. And being loved by this small human, more than he'd ever been loved before? It made it all so incredibly worth it.
So far in Luigi's life, Mario was the only face common enough there for him to recognise. He was the safety net that the baby needed. When one night, Mario got into an extremely bad argument with his parents because they'd spent the money for Luigi's baby food on their own selfish desires, Mario had gotten kicked out. They tried to keep Luigi there, but he broke that door down and left with his baby brother.
But obviously, the foster system is never pretty. He was already 16, he managed to convince them to keep them together in placements, but when he turned 18, he was out. And he couldn't get Luigi back in his custody until he had a stable job. He had to make the hardest decision he'd ever had to, which is abandon what he'd been dreaming of since he was a child. But for his family? It was worth it.
He found a job, the Wrecking Crew. Spike was not a great boss, he was cruel and overworked him. But, he's not a monster. He had sympathy for Mario's situation, going as far as to pay him far above minimum wage so he could get his brother into his custody. Mario felt eternally grateful for that, and despite their rough bond full of arguments, there was a deep care there.
To Luigi, all throughout this time - he just saw Mario as dad. This was his parental figure, this was who raised him. Mario insisted that he was his big brother, nothing more, nothing less. But it confused him. How come he had took care of him but wasn't his dad? All of his friends at daycare had dad's and mum's, but he had Mario. He loved Mario. When all of the other kids were making friends, Luigi was looking for Mario.
Mario loved Luigi more than life itself, he would do anything for this little boy. He loved him as his son, but that very thought scared him. He hadn't had the opportunity to have a childhood. What if he couldn't give Luigi one? Because he was too broken to know what a childhood looked like? He was too scared to give himself the role as dad, when his own dad hadn't shown him what it was like to be a father.
I do plan on writing this into a fanfic so unfortunately I cannot go into more detail than that. I am willing to answer questions from the earlier stages of their life, so example from Luigi being 0-13. Onwards from that unfortunately I cannot share as it would spoil the fanfic I am writing.
I do hope I met what you were expecting though! Thank you so much for leaving an ask, and feel free to send more if I didn't go into more detail as I'd love to talk about this au more! ♡

Imo the most impressive thing Leo’s done is hold this pose for as long as he did while covered head to toe in gold paint:
Tumblr media
#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#rottmnt leo#rise leo#if you’ve ever had to wear body paint that stuff can be UNCOMFORTABLE#AND to hold that pose for so long - not moving a muscle even when they first started falling?#as humorous as this is it is no joke highly impressive#I also love the implication that they disguised Leo SO FAST that Big Mama JUST finished with item 1#this is why Leo grows to become the worlds greatest ninja#bro’s dedication to subterfuge is godly#also#Leo 🤝 Mario: being painted gold and tricking the villainess into thinking you’re a statue#side note but in this same episode leo makes a comment about being betrayed by his brothers all the time in a happy tone#and I wonder if that’s part of where his love for epic betrayals comes from#or if his bros partially did those betrayals because they know he likes them#also also#nearly all of Leo’s absolute best moments are contained within episodes that feature either Hueso or especially Big Mama#and I find that interesting#ALSO also also#Karai and Big Mama both embody different aspects of Leo’s key character traits and in this essay I will-#side note but as I mentioned in the notes LEO WOULD BE SUCH A GOOD CHEERLEADER AND SPECIFICALLY A FLYER#bc here’s the thing he has literally all the marks of a good one - the main one being what he shows HERE#the ability to LOCK HIS POSITION#plus his affinity for showmanship like#AND his literal JOB AS A MASCOT???#let my guy be a cheerleader plz#he and Mikey both would be so good at it
