another reason i think that xie lian felt an instant connection on the ox cart is because he and hua cheng both grew up in xianle.

there are maybe 4 people still alive that grew up in that culture. based on my own experience, you can pick up on things like accent, cadence, references, and humor that suggest a person is from the same place as you without consciously noticing it. that sense of comfort and similarity probably played into their instant chemistry.

seeing people victim blame Drake Bell and accuse him of attention seeking for speaking about his CSA on a documentary that is about all the Nickelodeon kids that were abused is making my skin crawl. I understand that he perpetuated the cycle of abuse, I do, but that does not erase the fact he's a victim too. His entire life got derailed and he went down the path he did and its inexcusable and horrible but it does. not. change. the fact he's a victim too and likely this grooming and abuse is what led him down the path it did

While I generally do believe in the idea of separating a creator from their creation, I don't feel like you can really do that with Dan Schneider/Nickelodeon shows because of how interconnected the creators and the creations are.

The young cast of these shows went through so much abuse, mistreatment, and sexualization from people involved including the producer/writer himself.

There's a ton of sexualization and fetish content in the shows, sexualization and fetish content of children.

I don't hold any judgment for people who still find comfort from these shows, whether it be due to a hyperfixation or something else. But I do feel it's important to, at the very least, acknowledge how the shows were influenced by the creators being predators. And I would encourage everyone to try to boycott at least any shows that Dan Schneider worked on.

Smosh fic writers + readers I have a question: when you write/read characters like the Chosen, Augustus, Brianna, JDB etc- do you picture their exact cast member as you write them? a younger them (a good chunk of fics have them in high school)? cartoons? I'm genuinely so curious

Big woop, he admitted to being Phantom months ago on this website, I got nothing on that... but I have a new idea...

Sure, there's Danielle, Fenton's clone, but last time I started to get deep into that, Manson decided to do what she held in her power to ruin my life, so we're not talking about that... again.

before i started watching season 3 (particularly the second half) i legitimately thought all jeroy had going for them was the same set of scenes i would always see in edits or gifs but noo there are actually SOO MANY LITTLE ONES sprinkled in the show that i never found being heavily referenced (like obviously i do wish they had thought of the ship earlier on in the show like in s2 but there was still jara and considering all the circumstances they were still able to write jeroy so well even if they came in clutch

one of my favorite scenes was when jerome came up to joy and said he likes her hair brushed and that it reminded him of letdown hajskfjdj it’s just soo jerome clarke of him bringing up mara’s dog to joy bc it was their first date AND managing to slip in an actual compliment under the guise of teasing like come awnnnn whipped

idk it just made me feel giddy bc jerome can be an absolute sweetheart while still being his usual devious self. same goes for joy who, after greeting jerome sweetly would go back to teasing him and being sarcastic. like that scene in the stairs when he says “i was thinking” and she replies “oh so thats what that sound was” and after their kiss in the house when she says “please dont say youve come around just to get a compliment on your kissing technique” like it’s just so Them it’s so natural it makes sense whoever thought of this ship came to swoop in and said i will give u the most character development within a limited timeframe

i just found out my friend didn’t even consider this possibility before i mentioned it as if it was an obvious fact, so: do u guys also just immediately figured that victoria justice was picked to be “nickelodeon’s hannah montana” despite not being the best performer because someone had a gross pedo crush on her since they worked w her on zoey 101? like i really hate to say this but i’ve always just thought they made that choice cause it was so comfortable to invest on an actress they had built a relationship with since she was a kid so she probably had a more “compliant” personality because of it
