Stimboard for Naph, my chupacabra kiddo. He’s sorta like- a reformed hunter if that makes sense. Much trauma, and a bit closed off, but honestly really soft. Took way too long to find material my brain would accept but I finally did. and made some of my own because it didn’t exist anywhere. His color palette is black with purple/blue undertones, and pinkish red with orange undertones.

OC-Tober! Days 5, 13-14, 16, 19

Well, I'm bad at this. But I've still done a good number of them, so I'm just gonna post all the ones I've got. What's more, I think I'm gonna start putting just the paragraphs that have the word in them. That way it can be more confusing and funny. XD

Day 5: Pie (unspecified TPC birthday post)

[For context, I made a birthday post for Seth here, back in June. Another one is coming up in November, so I got a little early start on it. You'll have to wait and see whose birthday it is, though!]

Favorite birthday dessert: I think he likes pie. Even if they went out for some special evening, every year, their mom would fix some new kind of pie for his birthday. He always loved it, no matter what kind it was.

Day 13: Apple (Prometheus Curse)

“Well, now, the Craney Twins were a pair of lads, hailing from just around 1748. And they had a game of tossing back and forth any little thing they could find. A stone, a good apple, a ball, any such thing.”

Day 14: Notebook (same)

Seth edged toward the rim of the couch, shifting his notebook onto his lap properly. “The First Master of Othrys, you mean?”

Day 16: Stuck (same)

Melisande had to press her lips together and look away to keep from showing a growing amusement. Oh, he was stuck. Seems he hadn’t thought that far into his idea.

Day 19: Magazine (Players)

Jason reached over and switched on the lights, painting the empty room with dim gold as he entered. His things were still in a mess on the floor. The side table held only a (semi-tattered) magazine and Jason’s water bottle. Oh, so THAT’S where I left that thing.

7: What are your favourite relationships between your OCs? (romantic or platonic!)

oughhhh ok ok here's my favorites:

Naphtali and Paul (platonic-brotherly): Naphtali is the leader of a little band of survivors and a wise prophet and in some universes a crow person. Paul is Naphtali's bestie and bodyguard, a quieter, chill big guy who has animal telepathy. They're best friends they're comrades they're sitting silently together around a fire knowing they'll be together until they die.

Toad and Jack-be-Nimble (platonic-brotherly) (supervillains-in-training): Jack mends Toad's ripped jeans and claims it's because he has ADHD (he uses that as a general-purpose excuse for literally anything, including all of his love languages) and needs to keep his hands busy. Toad would die for Jack but he expresses that by spitting slime into his hair as a prank. They're so stupid about it I love them <3

Rudy and Pearl: most importantly they're ride or die partners in crime, secondarily... maybe romantic maybe not...? they're life partners but they're not necessarily attracted to each other. but they might get married in future. we'll see.

Rudy and Judy: ......long-lost siblings....? cousins....? aunt and nephew??? adult adoptive son and mother???? another hard one to define. Rudy is the clown persona of Judy's father, but he is NOT her father, and he's not her child (he's effectively an adult in terms of cognition!) but he's not her equal in life experience either (she's like mid-40s and he's one day old when they meet). But anyway they're so good. Also ride or die for each other.

Bonus: Two and Five, my clone besties. Two teeechnically isn't my oc but the relationship between him and Five is one of my favorites. They have deep philosophical differences but they love each other deeply. They're the two sides of the plot sword and they cut each other and themselves. Slippery blades, both of them.

29: What was your first fandom you were in? Did you make any art/fanfic for it?

Hmmmmm.... that's hard to say because I was an internet Lurker for a long time before I actually made a blog or anything. But I'd say my first fandom experience proper was probably X-Men! I went through SO many Pinterest panels before finding the comics and getting wildly invested in the X-Men and even drawing Nightcrawler a few times. X-Men was the first series that I read while also enjoying strangers' opinions of the stories and characters.

The funny thing about the AU is, the main characters (meaning my OCs) are in fact very different from their Canon selves. And I think I know why.

In the AU, they're still learning. They're not settled into place, like in the book. Actually, they're closer to their Rebel in Red characterizations.

Book Naphtali is already the Master of Othrys - the "king," if you will - and settled graciously into the role, though a bit over the top even then. AU Naphtali is still just the young prince, trying to earn his place, just getting into the heroics and adventure of it all (like in Rebel In Red). I can just feel the difference in age between these two, maybe more with than the others.

Book Melisande is already the wise woman, secretive and solemn, but motherly - she at this point has more than a hundred years of experience. AU Melisande is still the young servant girl, the daughter rather than the mother, clever and knowing, but not yet very wise. There is also a vast difference in the amount of hope between them.

Book Baron is already the confident magician, knowing well his capabilities, and very skilled in magic. AU Baron is still trying to survive on bits and pieces of magic, and is a little in the dark on how some of it works (eventually coming up against the limits of how little he really knows). Plus, from a certain point on, he's trying to be deserving of their trust and move beyond his past.

Heck, even Travers is different! Book Travers is much more suspicious and fiercely dedicated, and so also more surprised at, say, Ruth's friendliness. AU Travers is still suspicious (as far as Movie Era Baron goes), but he's got more of his friendly nature showing. He's more the indispensable helper on the guard, like he is in Down's Division.

It really is more like their Rebel in Red characterizations, isn't it?

New Story Just Dropped

Yeah I know I’m in the middle of English Class but I’m doing this anyway

I'm pretty sure that I'll stick with this one but that could be all lies :)

So, I have a few working titles:

-The Mysterious Happenings of Sajure Elm

-The Strange Thing That Happened in Sajure Elm

-Nothing Ever Happens in Sajure Elm

(Sajure Elm is the name of the town that I made up for these characters)

I have a general plan for the conflicts for about 5 seasons (I’m planning on writing this story as a TV show)

I also want a lot of representation in this story. If you want to see something represented that hasn’t been represented yet, or you think that there is a better way to to it, please tell me! My asks are always open!

An outfit reference sheet I worked on for my apprentice, Nolan Locke. 

I’ve made a lot of OCs, but this one, I can safely say, is the singular one that has given me the most trouble figuring out their wardrobe. I really wanted his outfits to be ones that looked like they fit right in with the setting of the game T^T I hope I did okay with it. 

1.) Normal/Everyday: This is the outfit he wears as his main outfit. This is easily my favorite outfits of his. 2.) Sleepwear: Pretty basic, what he wears to sleep, even when sleeping in the palace. 3.) Julian's Apprentice: When Nolan stays to help try to find a cure for the Red Plague, this would be what he wears while he works alongside Julian. Considering that he's Julian's apprentice at this point, I thought it made sense that his uniform matched Julian's. This outfit would also come with a plague mask. I can’t doll those for shit, though.  4.) Palace: The outfit that Nadia provides for Nolan in the prologue, y'know, the one where Valerius decides to be a petty bitch and dump his wine glass on the apprentice? It was too tempting to make the outfit primarily white due to what happens to it. Nolan doesn't like being spoiled or pampered by anyone, even Nadia, so he's not too terribly upset about the outfit being ruined; he's more pissed at Valerius' attempt at humiliation. Nolan only wears this outfit because he didn't want to offend Nadia, and is actually relieved when he can wear his normal clothes after the wine spill. Oh, and his hair is in a bun here.  5.) Masquerade: This outfit was a real bitch to doll, but I love how it came out! I looked at outfit references for hours before I finally picked an outfit based on an edited sprite of Lucio. The gloves are transparent, and are finger less on the fingers with his rings, but have fingers for the ones without rings (which is only one finger on each hand). His hair is styled a bit differently, too. To complete this look would be a bear themed mask (kinda like Muriel's) but with different design and color scheme. Almost all of the Arcana characters have animal themed costumes to go along with their familiars, with Asra and Muriel being the exception and having theirs themed after their patron arcanas. Nolan's familiar is a bear named Naphtali, and the fool doesn’t really have an appearance, so his costume would be inspired his own familiar. 6.) Bathrobe: For the bath scenes and the seasonal tale at the hot spring. I might tweak this one, it’s a bit too bright. 

He would only wear his glasses with a couple of the outfits he has, so they’re next to those outfits. 

I have a couple more outfits I want to add to this, like his wedding outfit, winter ball outfit, modern look, ect. but this is it for now :)

I can’t wait to do more with him on here ^^

OC-Tober! Days 4, 10-11: Formal, Passion, Proposal

Well, look at that, I forgot Day 4. And it was actually finished at the time!

Day 4: Formal (The Prometheus Curse)

“Na—” With a guest present, she corrected herself. “Mr. Flint, may we come in now? We’ve been waiting a quarter hour!”

“Apologies, Mistress Bylilly,” he replied, poking his head through the door and speaking in an overly formal tone. “No admittance until the other guests have arrived, even for the loveliest of all hostesses.” He winked and popped his head back in, closing the door behind him before Melisande could get a foot in.

Day 10/11: Passion + Proposal

“Living room, you call it?” asked Naphtali, but with interest and not scorn.

“Uh-huh!” Ruth nodded quickly. “It’s where everybody in the family can come in and do stuff together and talk and stuff! It’s lots of fun.”

“Living room, eh?” Naphtali scratched at his green beard. “Do you know, I think that’s rather good!” Another laugh burst out. “And after all, it does tend to be a room for the living! Our phantasmical friends rarely enter in here.” An idea lit his grey eyes. “Perhaps it should be called by such a name!” Energy seemed to bubble up inside him, and he began striding about the room excitedly, speaking with passion. “Yes, yes! Now that I look at it, the title seems quite perfect! I shall call this the living room now!”

Baron smiled and lifted his eyebrows, apparently amused at this proposal. If Melisande were in less of a shadow, she might have nearly smiled herself. But her thoughts were shadowed, and a cruel irony found her. “Living now, yes. Now that the little ones are here. You could not call it living before.”

She is tired and very depressed, and Naphtali is just sheer fun. I love them so much.

OC-Tober! Days 6-9: Application, Recognition, Kids, Elevator

So I may be pretty bad at keeping up with things. But I do have more of the snippets! And they're a little more diverse (meaning they're from multiple different projects) this time.

Also, with my main project (which by the way is called "The Prometheus Curse"), in order to get a draft finished by Christmas, I've given myself permission to write the stupid version and not bother about editing or making it good. Just so I can get it all down on the page in time. So watch out for poor writing there.

Now, on to the snippets!

Day 6: Application (Day 30: The Good End)

[For context, I was working on one of the last few days of another challenge, which I mostly finished. It's called "AU-gust", and I posted that on one of my other blogs. Yes I'm painfully slow]

Now, with these AUs, timelines can be pretty subjective. Some might say that an event happened, some might say it never did. Some might put the happenings in some vague whenever, some might place it in and around specific points in the story, it might not even matter to others! Some might bring in characters from all over, like I seem to have been doing, and some might just stick with characters who would logically be here at this time. It can be anything.

So with Baron, it could really be a lot of things.

It could be in this vague, indeterminate time, where everybody is there and are happy together, and the plot of the book doesn’t have any application to what’s going on.

Or, it could simply be the timeline of the book, and the characters who would be there are the ones who are there, but things are changed.

Day 7: Recognition (The Prometheus Curse)

It was then that the door opened, and a head popped out once more. “Melisande, d’you think—” The face on the head was flooded suddenly with joyful recognition. “Baron! There you are! And you’ve brought the rest of our guests—that’s perfect! I’ve a surprise for them.” He began to retreat back through the door, then looked back out. “Oh! Hullo, Travers, good man!” And in he popped yet again.

Day 8: Kids (Players)

[This is a more vague project in my mind, and "Players" is more of a working title. But it caught my attention. There may be more from this one later on.]

The little girl burst out giggling, and her parents laughed aloud.

The woman, still catching her breath back, offered Lenny a hand up. This he took. As she was helping him get steady on his feet, her husband and child chattering together, she whispered, “Thank you, Lenny. I think it’s very sweet what you do with these kids to brighten up their day.”

He may have swelled a little at the words, but he only smiled and bowed his head.

Day 9: Elevator (The Prometheus Curse)

(The third speaker is Ruth, by the way. Very sweet little eight-year-old. And Travers is a ghost.)

Travers nodded, but his head was tilted, trying to catch her eye. It was no surprise to Melisande that she soon heard a soft whisper in her mind—is everything all right?

Her mouth shifted ruefully. “Is it ever?” came her whisper in return. As his expression deepened to concern, she added, “Yes, things are fine. I’m only worried about—”

“Ooooh, does the little food elevator come up to this room?”

She almost smiled. That was the same way the last child who came here described the dumbwaiter, in the very same words. “The little ones,” she finished.

That's all I got so far. I will get to Pie, because Pie is good, I need to make Pie. Hopefully more soon!

3: Biggest self-insert OC?

Ohhhh. oh no, I'm going to be Perceived. Um, that would be... oh, what was its/his name...? Zelan sometimes, Fox other times, uh, Dorian, Grim, Nat, Shen, Alexei... it was basically the same OC every time, but in alternate bodies and stories. It/he was usually literally genderless or male (I was Working Through Some Stuff). It was always created and trained for a singular purpose, usually Being An Assassin or Guarding This Specific Location, and it was either animalistic (can barely speak) or overly-eloquent in ways that humans had trouble understanding. Um. This oc was my self-insert that always interacted with a troupe of other ocs called Naphtali's Caravan, and they always Found Out that Shen wasn't human and had Dramatic Reactions to it and then started trying to figure out how it worked and protecting it from whoever was trying to kill/recapture/exploit it. LOTS of infodumping and LOTS of drama were always involved. <333

4: What kind of music do your OCs listen to?

Well, my ocs have wildly varying worldbuilding, so there's no one musical genre. But my clones, which come to the real world in the year 2007, all have a weakness for soft music sung to them in real human voices. They grew up in machine laboratories and the sound of human singing... mesmerizes them. Gets down deep in their warped brain chemistry and soothes parts of them that have never been soothed before.

17: What are some tropes and character dynamics found in your wips?

As you may have guessed, people who don't feel like they are actual people learning to be loved and cared for... partly by loving and caring for people. This reflects nothing about me, of course! Also, in no particular order, Being Trapped in contracts/roles, depression and trauma disorders, Ride Or Die Friendships, new-parent + older-child adoption, and shapeshifting!

18: Describe the setting of one or more of your wips!

My clones story, The Strange Redemption of Thaddeus Thawne, is set in the DC superhero universe. More specifically, it's set in the Alabama home of a time-traveling hero with superspeed who gets abruptly saddled with the return of an evil clone of the Flash's grandson. Said (formerly)evil clone, "Thaddeus Thawne", ran away seven years ago, died, and is NOT happy to be back. Especially not still physically fourteen years old and incredibly traumatized.

My clowns story, Clown World, is set in a world where, when a human clown dies, their clown persona (not human) appears in the room. Confusing? Yeah, it's confusing for everyone in this world. The new Clown is fully adult in terms of mental capacity, speaking, reading, and writing skills, but has no memories and no specific knowledge other than their own name. Their clown makeup is not removable and they are visibly Not Human in various ways. It is difficult for Clowns to find good jobs, and they're not allowed to do actual clowning.

Just imagine having to look like a clown 24/7 and trying to make it in the world. That's the concept.

24: Do you have/want a career in your medium? If not, what do you do/want to do instead?

If it was possible to make a living as a writer and/or ceramics artist without stressing out always about profit, I would want that. Since it is not (for me anyway), I do not. I want to be a librarian <333

eyali’s is probably like good warm bread and meat with a lot of sauce and spices…..warm drink……naphtali doesn’t think about the food they eat a lot but i think someone once made them a meal just out of the kindness of their heart and they were so touched that they always say that’s their fave food…..ishtes favorite food is pussy. just kidding lol it’s anything that’s free and comes with a LOT of good wine

okay i’m doing this as if they were all Modern People lol. ishte would love marina and the diamonds for SURE she’d be into like. bubblegum pop and hyper pop but also like riot grrl i think. she could get into punk. eyali would have taste like me somewhat i think like. folky indie shit lesbian as hell and also maybe some like. csn joni mitchell type rock stuff from the seventies or whatever. naphtali….naphtali WOULD listen to mama by mcr and feel seen. i honeslty have a hard time thinking about it for them but i think they would be into like the sappiest shit ever but also emo music.

OC Birthday Facts: Naphtali

I'm finally back on this thing! I'm very excited to start posting these again, and especially for my man Naphtali. He's a blast.

Birthday: January 20, 1839

How he usually spends it: Running. Like, constantly. He is always brimming with energy on his birthday (possibly built up from a month of being cooped up), so he runs everywhere. He probably doesn’t even have the patience for breakfast. He just grabs the closest human (usually Baron) and goes outside for a roam about the grounds. Yes, it’s cold. No, he doesn’t care. Baron isn’t a fan of this, but he usually has a decent time by the end. (Melisande knows they’ll be hungry, so she makes a picnic lunch for them and has Travers set it up near where they are. Naphtali always has fun trying to find it.) When they eventually come inside, Naphtali just gets dressed up in his finest clothes and waits to see what happens. Sometimes, there’s a ghostly ball. Sometimes, there’s a feast. Sometimes, something else entirely. Melisande (with ghostly assistance) makes a grand dinner and some sort of dessert. He doesn’t make the plans for his birthday, but he always enjoys it.

How he would choose to spend it: He very much wishes he could see more of Melisande on his birthday. She’s almost always off making preparations, and he hardly gets to spend any time with her. Some years, it’s a little better (I think a few times, he even managed to pull her along on his exploration of the grounds). But he misses seeing her. He also misses spending birthdays with his family and some of their friends who aren’t there anymore.

Favorite birthday dessert: Oh, he has a huge sweet tooth, I think, so he’s very happy with whatever delicious dessert he gets (especially if it’s a surprise). However, he’s secretly a little biased toward the pies Melisande makes.

Best birthday in his past: His first birthday after the War (I think he was turning 27). Oh, he’d had fine birthdays even during the War—the Flint-and-Steeles were grand fellows, and he loved to be in their company—but to be home? With his family, with Melisande, with Baron? Not out in the middle of the woods, just waiting for combat to resume? It was wonderful.

Worst birthday in his past: Any birthdays where he’s cooped up in his room. He’s had a number of these, whether sick or injured or just still feeling horrible from before (tell you later). The worst was probably his sixteenth. He was miserably sick, he couldn’t go out and do anything, he hardly saw anybody most of the day except for servants and Doctor Galvan and whenever his parents or Melisande came in to visit. He never saw Baron at all.

Best gift: Okay, this one won’t make sense to anybody, because it would be slightly spoilers if I explained it properly, but the days that Melisande tells him are the absolute best birthday surprise he ever gets.

Worst gift: In the past, it was any sort of long trips on his birthday. Not that he didn’t enjoy whatever place he went to, but being cooped up in a carriage most of the day was unbearable. His parents eventually figured out either to tell him about the trip on his birthday (but actually go a different day), or to leave the night before his birthday and arrive that morning.

What he says he wants: Honestly, he doesn’t care terrifically what he gets. He’s happy with most things. But when he’s asked, as a kid or now, he usually would just reply that he wants a surprise. Whatever they do, whatever they give him, he’s most excited when he doesn’t have a clue what it is. (The phantoms, and especially the Band, have taken this as a challenge to try and startle him on his birthday. Nothing too bad, but just little pranks. They have an ongoing bet year to year as to who will succeed. Naphtali, of course, thinks it’s hilarious.)

What he actually wants: To be with all the people he loves best. Maybe it’s just an idea stuck in his head, but he genuinely feels more alive the day he was born. That’s why he never plans his birthday—it’s not about the things he does, but the fact that he’s alive to do them. His birthdays always remind him of that. And that’s why he wants to be with the people that he’s alive to see and talk with and be with at all. If he could have his way, they wouldn’t be apart all his birthday through.

Also, I'm going to tell you now, I think he will be very interested to find out how the Halwendes spend their birthdays, so that's fun.

this is a hard one bc i don’t know exactly what favorite thing means but i’ll go shallow

ishte’s is fancy beautiful dresses

naphtali’s is good books

eyali’s is forests

16. What was the happiest moment of their life?

ishte’s was probably when her and lydia talked about making a home together after all the madness was over

naphtali’s was probably the first night [redacted] took them in and showed them kindness

eyali’s was a night they spent with their friend/lover in their youth when they just talked all night and told their deepest secrets and dreams and all that.

33. What is their favourite color? And which colors do they like to wear the most?

ishte: red and gold babey. she wears a good amount of black too but her fave color is red i think

naphtali: this bitch wears exclusively black and mostly leather but i think their favorite color is like light blue

eyali: wears mostly earth tones, their favorite colors are green and yellow

OC-Tober! Day 31: Home

Well, well, well, well, well! The very last day of both October and OC-Tober, though not the last unfinished prompt. We'll see about those in the future, but this is the last for now. And it's one of my favourites, especially of the drawings.

Now, the subject of this one was never in doubt: I mean, the prompt for Halloween is Home? OBVIOUSLY, I had to do something with the one and only Prometheus Naphtali Flint and his haunted home of Othrys.

What I didn't realize was that it would be a picture. At least, until I remembered this particular bit from the Jim Carrey Grinch movie. If you know the movie, I'm sure you recall. It's just a brief little thing, but it's funny.

(If you'd like to see the exact bit, it's at 3:42 and lasts about ten seconds. Like I said, short but silly.)

WELL. When I suddenly happened to connect the bit with this character (who was in part inspired by that movie) and got the idea for the picture, I absolutely cracked up. It was such a stupid and utterly ridiculous idea. So obviously, I had to do it.

It wound up being one of the hardest ones to do, for two reasons. First, because I'm not very good at backgrounds, and I had to make one for the last frame. And second, because I drew the second frame first and started cracking up every time I looked at it, making drawing the rest very difficult.

But I enjoyed it, and I love the whole thing. And it does kind of fit, actually. Even aside from the fact that he is rather a silly.

I mean, Naphtali knows his looks are heinous and his house is heinous and all that, and yet he doesn't care. He loves it. He wears his looks like a brand new suit, and sees his dilapidated mansion like the finest palace.

It doesn't matter to him how scary it looks, how broken-down it is, or how many phantoms and fears and secrets fill its walls. It's where his friends are. It's where his heart is. It's home.
