Nightbringer didn’t change why Lilith was punished in Lesson 12.

I keep seeing people misunderstand Lucifer’s explanation on Lilith. So I wanted to clarify some misconceptions I see being spread around.

In Obey Me Shall We Date we learn Lilith was punished for giving forbidden food from the Celestial Realm to save her sick human lover.

It’s also important to note that angels are prohibited from interfering in the lives of humans.

In Obey Me Nightbringer Lucifer explains,

“I told her she could never visit the human world again. I tried to convince her, but she wouldn’t listen to me. She said that someday the same thing would happen to me. I’d meet someone I loved so deeply that I’d be willing to throw away everything for them. And then I’d finally understand how she felt.”

This means Lilith has already used the forbidden food from the Celestial Realm to save the human she loved. Lilith knew she’d be punished for it but loved this human so much she was willing to throw away everything for him.

Lilith’s conversation with Lucifer, her interfering with the lives of humans, using forbidden Celestial Realm food and her views on humans angered Father.

Especially since they went directly against all that Angels and the Celestial Realm stood for.

Belphegor words it best,

“ . . . You see, Lilith loved humans. She loved humanity as a whole. She used to talk to me about them and how we underestimated them. You know angels and demons are always trying to protect humans, or guide them or whatever? Well, she said that was insulting to humans.”

All of this lead to the decision that Lilith would be given the Celestial Realm’s gravest form of punishment.

This punishment does match the description of the punishment mentioned in Obey Me Shall We Date.

Wiped from existence so that nothing was left. Meaning her existence in the Celestial Realm, Human World and Devildom. She’d lose her wings, be cast down into darkness and unable to be reborn. Forced to wander through the darkness for all eternity.

Lilith was already going to be punished for breaking the rules. The severity of the punishment though was because of Lilith’s love for humans.

This decision was something Lucifer couldn’t understand. Yes Lilith broke the rules but she did it out of love. A love so deep it paired with the brothers.

He believed love was something beautiful. Was the love Lilith felt really so wrong? This ended up leading Lucifer to questioning his Father.

I know that Solomon has been known for years and years to make pacts with demons to use their powers, amplify himself, and more, but I like how it hits Asmo in this moment. He knows MC is his attendant and before this, he is happy to see MC and rely on MC, but Solomon is another story.

This comes after the fake Celestial Realm and the fake Raphael turning on Asmodeus for actually coming out of the illusion, and in that illusion Asmodeus was promised to become an angel once more. The F!Raphael even had the guts to say that Lucifer could be forgiven by their Father, and Lucifer rejected that idea, which means that the illusion had info that would easily tilt Asmodeus into believing this was real (even if Asmodeus was desperate and vulnerable to influence like this).

And after getting put inside this tomb/labyrinth that we've seen before, chased to our current circumstances, he is reminded: your still a demon, and there was a giant spider nearby and your brothers are missing.

I found an error in the story

Or maybe it's a different Anti-Lucifer League?

I've yet to watch/reach Lesson 80 on the OG game so idk much of the angel lore they gave us there (I'm in 43)

But I know ALL in the original timeline is founded off Belphie being irritated by Lucifer (and what I believed was a grudge against being locked up) and Satan in his 'rebellious phase' going against the one he feels the most awkward about (in terms of individuality and similarity)

So my question here is, how and why does Levi mention ALL in the past when it wouldn't have existed?

I had the idea that maybe. It was still the same people but It was pranks of sibling love rather than trying to tarnish someone that 'perfect' [though this feels interchangeable since the relationship between the brothers would be different between their life in Celestia and Devildom]

But then Satan wouldn't be so cooperative as he's a pure wrath demon and the others have yet to settle to their sins, so it's difficult for them to socialise easily

So I then had the idea that maybe the old Anti-Lucifer League consisted of Lilith and Belphegor as the youngest siblings playing pranks with their oldest sibling, and they would tempt or convince Beel to join them in pranking cus they knew he'd be the easiest to get on their team

So the ALL that we have in Devildom would be a continued mission of the ALL in Celestia, just that pranks are more intense and Satan takes Lilith's place as youngest (in terms of years lived, not ranking of power)

Yes it is an error. There are a couple things in Nightbringer that don’t make a lot of sense or retcon things from the original game

I think Lilith was mentioned to like pranks though but considering they don’t talk about Lilith due to the pain and trauma it caused I don’t think that’s what they’re referring to there

It’s possible it was mentioned just to catch up new players on the trio’s dynamic for the present timeline but it could just be a mistake with the writing.

I don’t really blame the writers though, they have a LOT of material to work with and things can be forgotten

Don't get me wrong, I really like the guy, he's like, my third favorite character among the brothers, but I DON'T WANT HIM TO KISS ME. ESPECIALLY WHEN I DON'T GET A CHOICE IN THE MATTER (like I had with every single other brother)!

Mephistopheles Discussion/Analysis

Like Levi said in Nightbringer Lesson 13-A Mephistopheles is a jerk but MAN is his self imagine, backstory and desperation to be useful/full-fill his “life’s purpose” just . . . Sad.

On the Official Obey Me Nightbringer website Mephistopheles is described as:

A proud demon born to nobles. Raised from a young age to be a playmate for Diavolo, but he is worried that Diavolo will lose interest in him because of the appearance of the brothers.

However there’s so much more to it then that.

Mephistopheles was born with the sole purpose from his family to be Diavolo’s right-hand man.

A position he’s already begun to lose which terrifies him. Something so clear Mammon catches onto it when he tries picking a fight with the brothers.

Mammon: “Like, I think I know what the deal is with you. You’re scared that Lucifer’s gonna replace ya as Lord Diavolo’s right-hand man, aren’t ya?”

There’s a reason Mephisto mentions this to MC:

Which makes Mephistopheles’ reaction to Diavolo saying, “I consider you a dear friend.” sadder.

You still think of me that way.

Also it’s not a coincidence that Mephistopheles’ visits completely stopped a little after Diavolo took the brothers in.

Along with his father having him begin attending the House of Lord sessions more frequently.

It’s Devildom’s complicated politics and the House of Lords AKA Devildom nobility using Mephisto.

Despite him being the one to deliver the House of Lord’s letter to Diavolo they didn’t even explain the full extent of their plans to Mephistopheles.

The House of Lords is using the situation with Beel to put Diavolo at a disadvantage to increase the possibility of Diavolo failing the Kingsblood Crucible.

Which isn’t what Mephistopheles wants.

He tells the brothers, “As long as we refuse to accept you, your opinions don’t matter. You won’t be running things here in the Devildom.” Which is funny when that’s what the House of Lords is trying to do.

Adding onto this I find these lines when Mephisto is expressing his concern to Diavolo so interesting:

Mephisto understands Diavolo’s reason for allowing the brothers into Devildom. He just can’t understand why Diavolo is so invested on a personal level.

While Mephistopheles tries to be Diavolo’s right-hand man he is blind to Diavolo’s actual needs. Diavolo craves friendship, to be perceived outside his Royal status which Mephisto will not do.

Mephistopheles ALWAYS addresses Diavolo as Lord Diavolo even when he’s not around.

Mephisto also considers himself far more trustworthy then the brothers but has yet to realize his nobility and family make him someone Diavolo cannot fully put his trust into.

While with the brothers there’s the situation regarding Lucifer’s oath.

Some may consider Mephisto expecting us to escort him out to be snobbish but that’s curtsey among Devildom nobility.

Which is almost all Mephisto knows.

In the present day during Obey Me Shall We Date in the Memory Card Let’s Take Pictures we learn he’s never been to an arcade. In Hard Mode Lesson 70-6 we learn he’s never eaten a fast food burger, he gets driven around in a expensive car and has a butler. He lives a very sheltered life.

While Diavolo and Mephisto are on friendly terms in the present they definitely aren’t as close. It’s almost like there’s an even larger barrier or wall between them. Which is due to their inability to open up and understand each other.

Being something useful to Diavolo is still something Mephistopheles craves.

OG Lesson 68-7 when transported to the flower garden inside the Demon Lord’s Castle. Certain characters get taken in by a flower’s illusion. One of them being Mephistopheles and what he imagines is silly yet so depressing.

Mephisto just wants to be valued and seen as someone worthy. Especially to Diavolo.

Mephisto’s fight with the brothers in Nightbringer is the perfect example of how he will use his ego, be condescending and rude as a defense mechanism.

In the present day he will often praise/gloat about himself and against the brothers use the fact he was born a demon while they were once angels. To help him stop from feeling inferior. Second best. Not good enough.

However despite it all he still lives earnestly.

WHICH IS THE THING I LOVE MOST ABOUT HIM!!!

He doesn’t use his position in the Newspaper Club to spread lies. Instead only reporting the truth.

Lesson 68-17 : When Mephistopheles risks getting severely injured to save Luke. As everyone is praising him he responds to Luke saying, “It’s not like you need to thank me or anything. It wasn’t a big deal.”

Lesson 70-16 Hard: When fan letters for Asmo got delivered to the newspaper club he took the time try and bring them to Asmo. Luke told him he was really considerate.

Mephistopheles simply responded, “W . . .Well, it’s just a box of letters. It wasn’t that big of a deal for me to bring it here. And someone bothered to write and send each one of these letters. When I considered that, I couldn’t just leave them undelivered, could I?”

Lesson 72-17 : When MC bumps into him he catches us so we dont fall and hurt ourself. When you thank him he says, “I only did what anyone would do. There’s no need to thank me.”

Mephistopheles doesn’t perceive his kind acts as anything noteworthy because he simply believes that’s what everyone would do. WHICH ISN’T TRUE!

Even Luke comments how his behavior isn’t like most demons. Mephistopheles is the final key to helping Luke realize he was wrong about demons.

Lesson 77-A: The way Luke brings sweet treats to share with Mephisto, hangs out with him and when Luke falls asleep Mephistopheles lets him sleep there IS ADORABLE HOW CAN YALL HATE THIS MAN!!!!

Despite his rudeness Mephistopheles is such an interesting complex character and massive lovable dork who sucks at tongue twisters! I hope overtime he gets more fans!!!

That that was some kind of foreshadowing for some shit happening in a later lesson?

Like, all of you already seen glimpse of his past like, a little bit. Do you think someone in his position do unreasonable things?

The answer is no, ofc not. Solomon is a guy who wants freedom, he just want a company— like a real one who understands him and make him feel at ease.

This guy, is just have enough with his situation being on edge you know?

The preception of each races that shoved to him to take a side its also wrong. And that's what make him, HIM.

I love him, and honestly? Im proud that he could stand to his ground firmly to stand by and be strong for humanity.

Moreover he wont ever let mc stray, i believe so.

Man, it still stuck in my mind how sad he looked when there is no other option but just mc to give the prophecy to Luci.. I still really want to know what if mc really choose to stay by his side like he ask to.

I hope, in the future there will be actual option for that.

((i know that the dateable's state weren't shown when mc is in their slumber. I can imagine how stressed solomon must be, how he try and searching soo hard to correct and waking mc up. And Satan extending to aid Solo made him conflicted but since its mc, he willing to give in to reach the same goal that is so mc could wake up.
