Dorothea Arnault + Pokemon

I'll put explanations for each mon' under the cut:

Plusle (Nini): Her first Pokémon, found in an alley while she was living on the streets, looking lost and alone. She shared some of her food with him and he’s been by her side ever since. For most of the time they’ve known each other, he hasn’t been bound to a Pokéball, so even though she acquired Pokéballs when she joined the opera company, and all her Pokémon have now technically been “captured” by her, he likes to stay out of the ball. I also really wanted her first Pokémon to be some kind of rat, but not so rat-like that Edelgard would be afraid of it.

Milotic (Sweetie): Also befriended while she was living on the streets. Enbarr has those canals running through it, and they’re probably not particularly clean. She noticed a Feebas being harassed by some nobles and, after rescuing the ridiculed and abused fish, felt a strong kinship with her. She loved her and made her feel beautiful enough to evolve right before Dorothea joined the opera company. The light from the evolution was actually what grabbed Manuela’s attention and lead her to hear Dorothea’s singing voice.

Swoobat (Luffie): The last Pokémon befriended before Dorothea joined the opera company. She set up by some condemned buildings for a night or two and was enamored by the noses of the Woobats roosting there. Dorothea managed to befriend one after many shenanigans, and she became a fierce protector and friend. Since Woobat evolve through friendship, she evolved soon after she decided to join Dorothea.

Oricorio (Orlinius/Ori): Oricorio are given to each member of the Mittelfrank Opera Company upon joining, so that all the dancers and their Pokémon can match on stage. It was odd for Dorothea, to be assigned a partner, where with her other Pokémon she befriended them first. Ori was very focused and strict while showing her the ropes, and they butted heads pretty often. But as Dorothea became more comfortable with the life of a diva, she began to understand him more, and understanding lead to a firm friendship.

Sylveon (Milo): A particularly interested admirer gifted Dorothea an Eevee. He’s still pretty young(and kinda spoiled. Very… Vocal.), so Dorothea doesn’t use him a lot in battle, but Sylveon evolve based on friendship (and having a fairy type move) so he evolved relatively quickly. I consider this Eeveeloution to also evolve based on friendship, since it’s “affection” in Amie based in VI and VII and actually friendship based in Arceus.

Lilligant (Plié): Another gift from the Opera Company, upon becoming one of the company’s top Songstresses. Manuela has one too. They’re actually native to northern Faerghus, but are highly sought after by the Opera Company because of their natural skill in dancing. She and Dorothea got along much quicker than Dorothea and Ori did.

Yes half of Dorothea’s Pokémon evolve through friendship. I am right about this and will not be taking criticism. YES I KNOW TECHNICALLY MILOTIC DOESN’T COUNT BUT IF YOU MAKE AN UGLY FISH FEEL BEAUTIFUL THAT’S GOTTA BE FRIENDSHIP. IT COUNTS IN MY HEART.

Brain keeps thinking about how I made Nathalie the champion in the miraculous mons au

It was a few years before Emiliè “disappeared” Gabriel and her were happy as a designer and Kalos Queen

Nathalie wasn’t, something was going on in the Agreste household and didn’t like that her supposed “closest friends” were keeping her in the dark (I’ll expand on this in another post maybe)

She just felt suspicious of a whole lot of things and Nath wanted something more then being an assistant.

(Didn’t help that Ori, her Sensu Oricorio could sense something was going on due to their spirits)

So Nathalie quits, takes on the gym challenge becoming quite a well known trainer during it too.

Her team of steel/dark/ghost types scare the living shit out of most people ngl

But there is an extremely strong bond between her and her Oricorio also her absol too (she can mega evolve btw)

Her Persian Jade is a menace (think of the Siamese twins from lady and the tramp that’s Jade)

She defeats Diantha with ease but is emotionally drained (gabe and em had been trying to get back in touch with her)

It ends up with her going on a month long break.

She’s back now after the month

So using her position as champ to help Kalos for the future she throws herself into work and doesn’t comeback in the news till one day she gets called on an expedition to find Jirachi (the wish pokèmon) by Steven Stone himself!

A few months later Emilie is pregnant and Nathalie has yet again buried herself in work

Fast forward a few years

Then the news hits, Emiliè has gone missing (Adrien is around 16) and Nath is heartbroken/slightly guilty too because it might not have happened if she left them

Nathalie goes on a 5 month weird little break/helping with the search and still trying to help keep Kalos afloat

Now when the actual au starts she’s making her return to the public for the glass gala, Nathalie’s favourite event

She’s out for answers, with a Dusknoir following her every move now (she swears she’s not haunted or delusional)

Nathalie is also known as the lady of ice btw she’s known for being ice cold to the paparazzi

finally made a ref sheet for my team in pokemon scarlet! explanations for changes under cut.

SPIDOPS

I just made the shiny more red, lol. Also, this is a marked shiny that I got, what, 30 minutes into my playthrough? I thought it was a pokeball lol.

ARMAROUGE

Maria (named after the Sonic character b/c of the resemblance to Shadow) is probably one of my favorite new pokemon this generation. For some reason, the flame on her head turns black when she terastallizes into a dark type, so I went with it! Also, her eyes are actually pink to match Delta's pink. I added a pink tint to the body too, to tie it all together.

MEOWSCARADA

The tiny bits of pink on the design feel a bit too random to me, so I replaced bits of green with the pink from the flower! That's the only change I made here. Honestly? Not a super bad design to begin with!

LYCANROC

I didn't really know what to change here, so I followed the nature and the trait listed. Since it's hardy and likes to thrash about, I added scars. I also added tiny bits of rock in the fur for fun! (also yes, I do prefer midday form. it actually feels like an evolution for Rockruff because they're actually similar)

ORICORIO

The blue is to add more continuity between forms, as well as to reference blue-footed boobies (since Ori's got a naughty nature). The specific hue is Floof's eye color, to tie her in more.

I honestly cant wait for you to play Sword and Sheild and to see the comics that come from it. You're stuff is the best! Did you preorder the double package to get jangmo-o and larvitar?

haHAhAHAHAHA…Oh boy…

OK SOI dont have a switch yet. And Im nOT SURE if Im actually gonna buy one :’D See, I rarely play games, but if I do, its usually PC adventure games like ABZU, Psychonauts or Ori and the Blind Forest. My 3DS I LITERALLY only bought to play Pokemon when XY came out because I got sUPER excited over the new graphics and being able to interact with your pokemon.

And it would probably be the same for me if I bought a switch:Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, those games look all great to me, but I can totally live without them. Pokemon is the only nintendo franchise that’s REALLY of interest to me, but if I was going to buy another pricy console just to play these games, then only on one condition: They better be REAL DARN GOOD GAMES

So I made myself a little list of things I’d like to see in a new pokemon title on the switch, the gLORIOUS NEW CONSOLE that opens up SO MANY NEW POSSIBILITIES…so here are my points:

Pokemon following you / new cool Pokerides (yes I know, we aLL want our pokemon to follow us around, nOTHING NEW HERE…)

A variety of neat mini games to bond with your pokemon ( I actually liked the simplistic ones from Pokemon Amie )

If pokemon refresh functions return: BEING ABLE TO BRUSH UR POKEMON WITHOUT IT HAVING TO BE DIRTY (dhdhshjds pls I just wanna brush Oricorio for the fUN OF IT)

Return of Pokemon Contests

A GOOD POSTGAME with A LOT of different stuff to do after finishing the story

A really damn good story with characters just as memorable as the Sun/Moon crew

Return of Regional Variants or new Mega Evolutions

Impressive graphics with beautiful and detailed landscapes to explore

Being able to transfer my whole team from Alola to Galar

So far…only one of these points I could strike off the list: Regional Variants will be a thing and they look great! And the character designs so far look top-notch, and I hope we’ll get a great story with these new characters. But oTHERWISE…pokemon camping doesn’t really grab my attention, Pokemon Contests dont seem to be a thing, the graphics…dont really scream “NEW AND INNOVATIVE SWITCH STANDARD” to me, the Wild Area just looks disappointing and empty, the lighting is weirdly harsh and cold, Pokemon aren’t following you and with your Rotombike you won’t need a Pokeride either, and then we have the whole NationalDex-Debate and oooohhhhh boy…

At this point Im not so sure if I’ll buy these games at all :’D I might stay in Alola for a bit longer than anticipated and that’s fINE BY ME… If anyone wants to buy me a switch, gO AHEAD, then I’d probably check sword or shield out xD But Im not gonna pay 360€ to play a Pokemon game Im not even excited for :’D Actually, overall I think that 60€ is a pretty damn high price for these games and it makes me wonder how high nintendo can push the prices of their future titles until no one is gonna buy them anymore…

So yeah, to our conclusion: If Im ever gonna spend this much money for a game, it better be damn worth it

Chapter 1: The Mysterious Fairy-Type Rotom!

"This will be your dorm room, Kailani. Your roommates appear to be out right now, but I'm sure you'll meet them later."

"Thank you."

Kailani bowed politely as the upperclassman finished handing her some papers and packets, then turned to look around at the three-person dorm room. Three beds, three closets, one television, two lamps, and one large window, among other amenities that the other roommates presumably brought from home.

"So this is Unity--bzzt!--Island Academy, huh?"

Kailani's Rotom Dex emerged from her bag, taking a look around. A large container and heavy suitcase were waiting by the one barren bed in the room, already placed there by academy staff while Kailani was getting a tour of the school. Brushing her bangs aside, she gingerly took a few steps forward, hesitantly beginning to examine the belongings of the two unknown roommates.

The desk by the door had the name "Naomi" taped on the wall in colorful letters, and a bed with a nautical-themed comforter. Numerous pictures were plastered on the wall, many featuring a girl with wine-colored hair and a wide smile, sailing, fishing and other outdoor activities. A big Lapras plush was nestled against the corner of the bed, up against the wall. The bed was elevated more than the other two, to fit a few containers underneath.

The second desk was organized with pastel-colored stationery and a pair of Nidoran bookends holding up various novels. The bed beside it featured a pale yellow comforter with a lace pattern, and fluffy, round pillows. The few framed photos on the desk showed a pale blonde-haired girl, eyes slightly obscured by her bangs, and a Clefairy often beside her.

"You gonna be okay, Lani?" Rotom asked, prompting Kailani to jolt slightly.

"Wh-what do you mean?"

"Well, you're far from home, right? It's awesome that you're in this school, but you should keep in touch with your family, okay? Professor Kukui even said there aren't many Alolan students in this school yet, so you'll be the odd one out, probably."

Kailani was quiet for a moment, then smiled gently. "Since when have you been so concerned about me, Rotom?"

"Since day one, silly! Now why don't you go--bzzt!--check out the rest of the town?"

"The way you're saying it, it sounds like you don't want to come with me..."

"It was a long-bzzt!-trip! I wanna recharge! And I'm sure you don't wanna--bzzt!--decorate just yet!"

Kailani hesitated. "Well..."

"I know you, Lani! You wanna-bzzt!-explore!"

"Hmm...okay. Just don't scare my roommates if they come in, okay?"

"I'll be perfectly quiet!"

Kailani dug through the pile of papers she had been given, retrieving the town map and stuffing it into her bag. As she did, she pulled out a pokeball. "Come on out, Raichu!"

"Chu!" The Alolan Raichu emerged from the ball, hovering on its tail with a smile as Kailani grabbed her room key and left.

"Unity Port Town is so big..." Kailani murmured as she walked down the stone sidewalk, Raichu floating beside her.

"Chu?"

"Hm?" Kailani looked to the Raichu, who was now rubbing his stomach. "Oh, you're hungry? That's fair. Let's see what the local delicacies are! Probably nothing like our malasada back home, though."

"Chu!" Raichu bobbed its head in agreement, as the pair went to the nearest food stand.

"Excuse me, what's the special dish here?"

"Hm?" The stand owner, an older man, tilted his head, then chuckled. "Well, little miss, this is just a snack stand, so no delicacies here."

"...oh." Kailani's shoulders dropped.

"Don't be disheartened!" He extended a wrapped sandwich. "Here's MY delicacy, though--a fried noodle sub!"

"Oh!" Kailani stared at the sandwich. "Umm...how much?"

"300 pokedollars, lil' miss!"

"Done!" Kailani retrieved the money from her purse, completing the transaction and unwrapping the sandwich, breaking off a piece and sharing it with Raichu. Out of the corner of her eye, Kailani thought she saw a black spot in the sky, very briefly. As she went to take a bite of the sandwich, though, there was a twinkle of light in the sky as well, descending rapidly toward the south. She paused, finally biting down on the sandwich before heading out of the town and into the woods.

"What am I even doing?" She thought aloud with a groan as she carefully stepped over a sticker bush; Raichu did a somersault as it floated over. "Show-off."

"Chu!"

Kailani sighed and pat the Raichu's head, looking up as she saw a glimmer coming through the thicket. "There!" Pushing aside the twigs and leaves, she came across a clearing, abundant with yellow and white flowers. A furret fled into the nearby brush, frightened by the new arrival, as a wingull took off.

"Whoah..it's like Melemele Meadow!" Kailani breathed in awe, before skipping forward a bit and looking around with a wide smile. Raichu threw itself into the flowers, rolling around happily while Kailani knelt down to smell the flowers. In that moment, Kailani had forgotten about the light in the sky, and the glimmer in the thicket, until...

"HIDE MEEE!"

"Huh?" Kailani looked up as something bright crashed into her, cramming itself into her bag. Kailani bolted to her feet and spun around several times before finally grabbing onto her bag and opening it up.

Hiding in the deepest corner of her bag was a small, pink creature with a white aura around it. It was distinctly heart-shaped, quivering and eyes shut tight, only opening one to briefly peek at her.

"What are you?" Kailani muttered, "Some kind of rotom...? Man, and I left my pokedex in the room..."

"Shh! I'm not here!" The creature squeaked out.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Kailani asked, Raichu floating up beside her and staring into the bag as well, when a new voice spoke.

"You, there!"

Kailani snapped her head up to see a new arrival standing on a nearby ledge.

Tall, slender, with an unapproachable, patronizing gaze and puckered lips framed by curly, berry-colored hair and a pillbox hat. The shoulder pads of her fitted, pear-like attire jutted out and gave her a strangely unearthly appearance.

"Who are you?" Kailani asked, "And what's with the outfit? Are you some kind of avant-garde model?"

The woman's cheek twitched, but she breathed and gave a condescending grin.

"Well, I'm flattered that you're calling me a model, but let's get down to brass tacks, shall we? My name is Ataxia, and I'm here for the little creature hiding in your bag. Hand it over, please." She extended a hand and beckoned with a well-manicured finger.

Kailani gave a sheepish grin and hid her bag behind her back. "Wha-a-a-at?"

Ataxia grit her teeth. "Don't play dumb! Give me that fairy! Or else!" She stamped a heel to emphasize her point.

"No!" Kailani blurted out, then covered her mouth with a hand.

"So you admit to having it. Fine, then!" Ataxia pulled a pokeball from her pocket, pressing it as it expanded--it was shades of purple, with black engravings on it. "Let me just find a target....ah!"

She spotted a yellow oricorio standing behind a bush, bouncing to an unheard rhythm as it was distractedly practicing a cheer. With a flourish, Ataxia threw the ball toward it. "Nega-ball, go!"

"Ori?" The oricorio looked up, then let out a surprised squawk as the ball captured it.

"Nega-Evolution!" Ataxia snapped her fingers, as the ball shook and reopened...

The creature that emerged was definitely *not* a normal oricorio. It was easily six feet tall, with ragged, spiked feathers, a razor-sharp beak and spiked pompoms, with beady, red eyes glaring at Kailani. "NEGA-ORIIIII!"

"What in the world is that!?" Kailani yelped.

"Nega-Oricorio, crush that girl and take the fairy!" Ataxia ordered, as the monstrous oricorio leapt into the air. Kailani looked up in awe, then scrambled out of the way as it slammed down where she once stood.

"Wh-wh-wh-what do I do!?" Kailani wailed, then shook her head. "Wait! Duh! Trainer! Raichu, use thunderbolt!"

"CHUUUU!" Raichu charged its cheeks with electricity, before unleashing a blast of lightning toward its target. Nega-Oricorio squawked in pain, but seemed relatively unharmed, puffing its feathers out in irritation and slamming a pompom down, knocking Raichu back.

"You have to run!" The fairy inside Kailani's bag pleaded.

"If I run, it's gonna chase me into town! And I can't give you up, either--this lady is bad news all around!" Kailani stood her ground, spreading her legs apart in a wide stance and narrowing her eyes. "I'll fight it down to the last pokemon, and then some!"

A brilliant flash suddenly blinded her, and the world around her vanished. When her vision cleared, she found herself standing in a shimmering void.

"Where...am I? Raichu?" Kailani called out.

"Ko-koooo!"

Kailani jerked slightly in alarm, then turned, letting out a gasp. Floating before her in all its glory was the legendary guardian of Melemele Island, the pokemon Tapu Koko.

"T-Tapu Koko!?" Kailani sputtered, frozen in both awe and apprehension. The guardian responded by closing its outer casing around it; then it opened up again, a small, glittering object clattered to Kailani's feet. She slowly knelt down to pick it up, examining it once it was in her palm.

It resembled a compact mirror, with the image of a golden sun on the cover of it. Popping it open, Kailani saw a mosaic of Tapu Koko, and an empty slot for some sort of spherical object. A glow came from Kailani's chest, producing a small, orange-red stone.

"What is this?" Kailani whispered, looking back to the guardian. Tapu Koko gazed back at her, then let out a cry before vanishing, and an energy surged through Kailani unlike anything she had felt before. She heard her own voice cry out.

"Precure! I choose you!"

When the light dimmed, Ataxia rubbed her eyes in irritation. "What on earth was that--what!?"

Kailani stood before her, but her appearance had drastically changed. Her hair had become long, wavy and orange, secured in a ponytail, and her clothing had been replaced with a brightly-colored, flashy leotard, its stitching resembling vibrant tropical flowers. Raichu's tears twitched as it tilted its head. The fairy was now out of Kailani's bag, gazing at her in awe.

"Unbelievable...you're a Precure!?"

Kailani opened her eyes, her determined gaze meeting Ataxia's. "The dawn of a new day! Cure Sunrise!"

My strat in Pokemon Doubles lately is to just dance all my problems away

Being more specific it's a duo of Volcarona and Oricorio Pom-Pom. Volcarona Quiver Dances and Oricorio's Dancer Ability makes it do Q. Dance immediately after, and then I do Z-Tailwind, which gives Oricorio +2 to its crit ratio [Fun Fact: It only takes +3 crit rate to crit every time, so +2 is pretty frequent] as well as set up Tailwind [who'da thunk]. +1 SpAtk and SpDef, as well as essentially +3 Speed on both 'mons is already pretty good, but if I have an opportunity to use Fiery Dance it gets better because as you'd expect Dancer will make Oricorio use it after Volcarona does. And Fiery Dance has a 50% chance of raising SpAtk. Pretty nuts.

However, as good as this all sounds, it's also pretty easy to counter. Trick Room giving the absolute hardest counter, but either Volc or Ori getting flinched is also a problem. If Volc gets flinched, it can't Quiver Dance and thus both of them miss out on the +1 SpAtk/SpDef/Speed on that turn, but on the plus side Flame Body might Burn whoever more than likely used Fake Out on it. If Ori gets flinched, it won't copy Quiver Dance and it also can't set up Tailwind

I have Nathalie’s, Gabriel’s and Emilie’s pokèmon teams all fleshed out here so I’m just gonna explain some choices

First up Nathalie!

Steel/Ghost/Ice

I mean we all know Oricorio goes perfectly with they Mayura theme she’s Nathalie’s main pokèmon

She simply named it Ori.

Skarmory - for Nathalie’s steel resolve and staying strong in the toughest of situations

Gengar again is for like the mayura part of her and he’s named Peepers cause he’s quite a shy little bean

Nathalie holds the gengarite in her watch

The last three are pretty much their to represent her demeanour at first with cold and tough but still caring of others inside

I don’t have names for them yet

Onto Gabriel!

Poison/flying/grass/normal? Definitely poison tho for sure

His furfrou Delilah is his main and has the debutante trim for sure

Venomoth and Hawkmoth yeah (no miraculous in this au btw) but just a resemblance

The rest are pretty much to do with the beauty and brawn sides of him I guess

Grass for his designer side and then the poison types are there to help him become more angry I guess idk

Should also say he has a gallade and the galladeite which is in his ring

Also he has a lycanrock from who

Emilie!

Rock types!

She did this out of rebellion previously a steel/fairy or grass

Her lycanrock Moss is her main, Gabriel takes her after she passes

The rock types are here to show her rebellion for sure

Emilie used lycanrock and archeops for contests

Tyrantiar has the mega stone which is in Emilie’s ring!

Harmony and discord

A small drabble for the mlb pokèmon au

Nathalie stares at the chaos in from of her. Well it’s not really chaos it’s just, oblivion to her.

She should be panicking, should be crying as the time goes on by.

Nathalie doesn’t, but Ori can sense her discomfort brewing.

The bird like pokèmon rears her head to look directly at her trainer from where she’s perched on the side of the desk.

“I’m okay, I promise.”

Ori lets out a trill of disbelief, her lilac wing rising in annoyance.

“Oh, don’t give me that look, I’ve had this feeling before and nothing came of it.”

Another annoyed coo follows Nathalie’s words. It causes the woman to sigh, fingers reaching to massage her temple.

Now this grabs the attention of Delilah, Gabriel’s Furfrou, who sits politely by her trainer.

But now she’s heading towards her, walking with a proud step much like her trainer does.

Nathalie doesn’t know why, but still welcomes the light head butt she gets in response and Delilah preens at the attention, nudging her head further into Nathalie’s palm.

It’s somewhat domestic.

Ori can sense the feeling and decides move further up the woman’s other arm, to perch herself on the jacket covered shoulder.

Manoeuvring her head to fit in the space just below Nathalie’s ear.

“Alright, I get it Ori you’re worried for me. But I promise you just because my gut feels like shit at the moment doesn’t mean that something bad will happen.”

The Oricorio lets out a relived trill this time, hopping down onto her arm so she can get her usual forehead touch.

Which she does, because Nathalie lifts her arm so Ori can lean forward to give her a light head butt.

They stay like that for a few minutes, before Nathalie can feel her bosses eyes on her.

Enough affection for one day. That’s what he’s trying to tell her, and it works because Ori goes back to perching on the edge of the desk.

Nathalie goes back to staring into oblivion, that sinking feeling comes back instantly.

Something is definitely bound to go wrong.
