Title: Lucky
Pairing: Addison Montgomery x Reader
Prompt: "Thanks to you, I know what it means to love again."
R
WC: 646
"Addison, I don't know where we are, but I'd rather be on solid ground," Y/n said as she allowed Addison to walk her through the docks. She knew it was only a matter of time before she found herself either on some sort of boat or something. They were coming up on their anniversary, and Addison had been talking about going all out for the big day. Y/n had been apprehensive at the sound of it. Addison's version of "all out" and Y/n's tended to differ by several thousand dollars. Y/n was all for a good time, but she didn't want to break the bank doing it.
"Shh, relax. Trust me, this will all be worth it," Addison assured her. Y/n took a deep breath as continued to follow Addison. Their trip up to Seattle together had been a big enough deal, and Y/n had no idea how Addison managed to arrange some special little trip for just the two of them like this one. Y/n came to a stop in between some sort of railing and Addison, who had moved behind Y/n and started to press a few kisses against the back of Y/n's neck.
"Can I take the blindfold off now please?" Y/n asked. Addison hummed as she thought it over.
"Not yet, we aren't there yet," Addison told her. Y/n pouted as she turned her head towards where she assumed Addison was. Addison smiled as she looked out at the ocean beyond Y/n. "There's something I want to tell you that I think is going to come easier like this."
"If you did all this to dump me, I'm throwing you overboard," Y/n threatened. Addison laughed as she squeezed her arms around Y/n's waist.
"No such thing. In fact, I am going to tell you how much I love you," Addison said. "There have been so many guys that have come so close to being the love of my life. I've lost so many great friends and partners because things kept going wrong. With you, I don't have to worry about that. I've learned from my past mistakes enough to know how to not fuck us up, but I didn't think that I deserved love anymore. I gave up on it after this last divorce because who the hell am I to expect someone else to waltz into my life? Thanks to you, I know what it means to love again. I can't imagine having any other person in my life other than you. And that's why I can't ask you to marry me."
"All of this for a non-proposal?" Y/n let out a small laugh. Addison pulled the blindfold off of Y/n's eyes, surprised to see the lightheartedness in her eyes. "That was beautiful, but you had asked me to marry you, I would have called you an idiot."
"That's not very nice, maybe I take back some of my words," Addison pouted. Y/n rolled her eyes and took Addison's hands in hers. "Now you have to say something sweet or the whole night is ruined."
"You always knew what it meant to love Addison. You always knew how to open your heart, even when you thought it was hopeless. You opened up your mind and let me into your mind because deep down, I think that you knew we were meant to be in love with each other. I don't know if this will last the rest of our lives or not, but I know that when I die and go to heaven, I'll be seeing you," Y/n said. Addison leaned against Y/n just enough to pin her against the railing while they kissed. "I love you, Addison Montgomery, and I'm the luckiest motherfucker on the planet because you love me too."

oh here’s another addison thought
reader and addison start getting on, reader helping and assisting in surgeries. reader isn’t an intern tho.
reader gets a feeling addison likes her, addison does but she is Scared™️
and then addison goes to LA :(
and reader goes to her, last ditch attempt. “why did you leave me?”
angsty.. i like it
why did you leave?
You were Addison’s fellow. You were in your final year of residency when Addison made her big entrance, and you stood idly by as you watched everything with Derek, Meredith and her go down.
As soon as your options for fellowships opened up, you made sure you were to study under the Addison Montgomery.
She was kind of rude to you at first, as she was going through the final stages of her divorce, but she did finally open up to you and let you in on surgeries. And then, the two of you were closer than ever.
You did a lot of the surgeries with her, led them too.
Addison and you ate lunch together almost everyday, because all your other friends ate lunch while you were in surgery, so Addison would offer to eat with you.
“But Callie is sitting over there. You should go sit with her,” You would shrug and take a seat in the back of the cafeteria.
“I can’t leave you alone,” Addison huffed and sat beside you. “Besides, Mark will sit with Callie.”
You smiled appreciatively, “Okay. Only if you want to.”
You’d also go to the bar with her, and sometimes even get dinner with her if your schedules aligned. The two of you even got together for Christmas and exchanged gifts. Mostly because neither of you had any blood relatives in Seattle, and found comfort in each other.
She got you a necklace, and you would play with it when you got nervous. Addison would notice and try to comfort you, but she was beginning to think it was her that did it.
“Stop,” She removed your hand from your necklace. “You’re going to make a mark on the back of your neck from tugging on that.”
You’d let out a breath, “Sorry. It’s just the nerves.”
“Oh?” Addison lifted her brows, sitting beside you on the abandoned bed in the hallway. “What’s going on today?”
“An old friend is coming down to see me,” You shrugged. “It’s not that big of a deal.”
“Sure it is,” Addison swallowed down the negative thoughts and her own anxiety. “How long did you know them?”
“It’s a she, and I knew her my whole life before I moved out here. She was actually my first kiss.”
Addison nodded, pretending to be busy with the hair tie on her wrist.
“Hey, listen,” Addison turned her head, and she thought she might have told you about her ongoing feelings, but something else entirely comes out. “I’m going to visit a friend in LA next week. Could you watch over my patients? You’ll work under another neonatal surgeon while I’m gone. It’ll only be a day or two.”
“Yeah, no problem.”
She was gone for more than two days, and she didn’t answer any of your messages while she was gone. She came back almost a week later and she was different.
Addison told you about how she met a guy down there and that she missed her best friend, Naomi.
You stood by and tried to be supportive, you smiled and pushed the jealousy down, because even though you didn’t want to, you felt the same way she did.
She was tanner than when she left, and her red hair was a lighter shade now.
“It was nice down there,” She told you. “I think you’d like it. Because you love beaches.”
Your heart throbbed at the fact that she remembered something you told her the first time she talked to you.
“Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow, Dr. L/n,” Addison threw her gloves in the trash.
She barely called you that anymore, but right then she did, and it hurt like hell. For some reason you didn’t believe you’d see her the next morning. And your hunch was right.. because you didn’t.
You didn’t even know what you were doing, honestly. You just got the urge to leave Seattle for a few days, and you took yourself to LA.
You were at a local market when you spotted her.
She looked amazing. She’d cut her hair, and it was now to her shoulders. She was still tan like she was when you last saw her, but her hair was back to her normal red color.
She looks at you, and you think she might not even recognize you at first. Because truth be told, it had been almost a year since she’d left, and she’d built a life for herself out here.
Or so you hear through Callie.
You look down at the blueberries you were messing with, suddenly trying to look busy.
“Y/n..” Addison approached you, but you didn’t look up. “What are you doing here?”
“Um..” Your voice shakes, and you’re not sure if you’re going to be able to talk. “I needed to get out of Seattle for a few days.”
“I know the feeling,” She chuckles.
The sound of her voice and laugh makes your body tingle from your head to your toes.
“I’m sure,” You say bitterly, picking up a carton of blueberries so you can hopefully leave this conversation behind.
She just follows behind you as you make your way to the vegetables, “So.. uh.. how are you? How’s— how’s Seattle?”
“I’m fine,” You shrug.
“Are you still working in the neonatal field?” You see her hoist her bag higher on her shoulder from the corner of your eyes. “Is that why you’re here?”
“No,” You grit your teeth. “I’m here because I needed a few days away from Seattle, I told you. I didn’t mean to drive here, I just put my brain on autopilot, and it brought me here. I didn’t even think about you being here until now, okay?”
Your voice is soft and it’s scaring you because you hold nothing but anger for Addison. So the fact that you’re speaking in a sweet tone..
“It was nice seeing you,” You attempt to get her out of your head again, but it doesn’t work.
“Do you wanna.. I don’t know.. meet for drinks tonight?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” You clench your jaw, trying to keep yourself from saying something you know you’re going to regret.
“Y/n, look at me,” You hear Addison’s voice wavering like yours had only minutes ago.
You manage to pull your eyes away from the fresh produce and to her face, and it’s hard for you to look her in the eyes, but you manage.
Her hand comes up to touch you on the face, and when it does, you flinch at her soft touch. Your breath catches in your throat, and you have to swallow down the lump in your throat so you don’t start crying.
“Why did you leave?” Your voice breaks, and tears are beginning to fill in your eyes, much to your dismay.
“I needed a change of scenery—“
“No,” You all but growl, you sharply inhale and press your lips together. “Why did you leave me?”
Addison’s eyes flutter, and her own eyes fill with tears. You’ve struck her in a wound she was so desperately trying to heal.
“Y/n..” She wipes a stray tear with the pad of her thumb, her palm resting on your cheek. “I didn’t.. I didn’t leave you..”
“You did, though,” You try to turn your head, but her hold on you is soft and strong. “You left me, and I didn’t even get a goodbye.”
Next think you know, she’s pulling you into a hug, one of her hands now on the back of your head while the other snakes around your waist.
“I never meant to make you feel like that,” Her mouth is by your ear.
“It doesn’t feel that way,” You sob into her shoulder.
She pulls back, both her hands making their way to your cheeks, “I had feelings for you, Y/n. And I know it was immature, but— I— I was scared that you didn’t feel the same and I had to get out of there.”
As if your heart hadn’t broken enough times in your chest since this interaction had started, it somehow broke again.
“Addie.. I did— do feel the same. Didn’t you see?”
“I didn’t want to assume—“
You lean up and place a kiss on her lips, “Well stop assuming, and start living in the moment with me. This has been the worst experience ever. I hate the new head of neonatal, and I think she hates me too. I wish you would have just talked to me..”
“I will from now on,” Addison promises, staring into your eyes.
“What?” You smile softly, all of your pent up hate for her slowly melting away. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“You’re beautiful, am I not allowed to admire you?” Addison tilted her head.
“No, you can,” You draw your brows together in amusement. “I like it, actually. But you want something from me.”
“I want another kiss,” Addison shrugged, shyness in her tone.
You laugh, “You’re adorable.”
“Thank you,” Addison nodded. “Now come on, I have a lot of people to introduce you to.”
“There it is,” You throw your head back.

Addison walks towards the break room, hoping to find Amelia there before it’s too late. She walks into the room, luckily seeing the youngest Shepherd sitting on the couch, coffee in hand, talking with Maggie Pierce. “Amelia, could I talk to you for a minute?” She says right away, skipping the pleasantries.
With a look, Amelia stands up. “Sure.” She chuckles quietly, slightly nervous. “What’s up?” She asks after Maggie leaves to room for the two.
“I called Doctor Y/L/N here to help me with a patient of mine, she’s arriving today.” She tells, trying to gauge what Amelia’s thoughts are about seeing her ex again. “I wanted to tell you before she’s here.”
“Okay, thanks for telling me.” And with that Amelia leaves the room. Addison sighs, rubbing her forehead. Suddenly she isn’t too sure if she did the right thing, but she really needs Y/N here, she’s the best in her field. She just has to hope everything goes smoothly.
“Addison!” Y/N’s voice calls out excitedly.
The red head turns around to see her doctor friend walking towards her with a bright smile. “Hey, stranger.” Addison laughs, meeting her half way to hug her. “I’m so glad to finally see you. How was the world?” She pulls away, her hands on Y/N’s shoulders to see how much she has changed over the years.
“The world was good.” Y/N decided to leave the practice in Los Angeles to join the Doctors Without Borders, traveling all over the world with them. “How’s Seattle? I didn’t think you’d come back here.” She looks around the hospital. This isn’t her first time in Grey Sloan Memorial, but it has been a long time since she was last here.
“Seattle is good. You know I go where babies need me, and this baby needs us both.” She nods her head forward, so they start walking. “The baby is two months old and his heart is incredibly weak. He won’t survive without a donor heart, but getting a heart that small will take too much time.”
“That’s where I come in.”
“That’s where you come in.” Addison smiles, she missed working with her. “His heart could become strong enough, if you fixed the veins around it.” They walk into a room full of pictures of the baby’s heart and veins.
Y/N looks through the pictures, at times picking one of them up to see it closer. The heart is compromised, and the baby won’t survive long if they do nothing, but the surgery Addison is talking about is incredibly risky. Fortunately, Y/N is a risk taker.
“I can do it,” she states, “but I’m gonna need a lot of help. His vitals need to be monitored closely.”
Letting out a sigh of relief, Addison nods. “I’ll get you anything you need.” She pauses for a moment, contemplating on saying anything. “Amelia is here, you know? Incase you wanted to talk to her.”
“Oh.” Y/N clears her throat, cleaning up the pictures into a neat pile so she wouldn’t have to look at Addison staring at her. “I didn’t know that.” She mumbles.
The now silent and tense atmosphere of the room makes Addison question whether she made the right decision. Amelia is one of the most important people in her life, she’s her sister, but she also cares about Y/N a lot. Their relationship didn’t really end on the best terms, mostly because of Amelia’s addiction, but the relationship itself was good. They both were happiest Addison has ever seen when they were together.
“I’ll make a surgery plan and then get back to you, okay?” Y/N states, not waiting for Addison to answer as she leaves the room.
Her mind is all over the place, which makes her walk through the hallways with less attention than usually, though she does greet the familiar faces going past her. However, she doesn’t notice the person walking right towards her with the same state of mind. So, they crash into each other.
All the pictures Y/N was holding fly to the floor. “Shit, I’m sorry.” She grumbles, kneeling down to gather them.
“Y/N?”
The familiar voice makes her head snap up. Amelia is standing over her, an indescribable look on her face. The exes stare at each other in silence, both unsure what to do. They both knew of the others presence in the hospital, but they didn’t think they’d bump into each other, at least not yet.
Her breath hitches as she looks over Amelia’s face. As much as she doesn’t like admitting it, she missed her. “Amy.” With a mumble, Y/N stands up, dusting off her scrubs.
“Amelia, no one calls me Amy anymore.” She says with a small smile. Y/N just nods, putting it to her mind. “I haven’t seen you in a while.”
“Yeah.”
Amelia scratches the back of her neck. “So, Addison called you.”
“She did.” The pictures are starting to crease in her grip. “There’s a..baby, obviously, uhm, and she needed help.” She clears her throat, looking around for an exit. “I actually have to make a surgery plan for tomorrow, so, I’ll see you around, I guess.”
Going to walk past Amelia, she stops once a hand takes hold of her arm. “Could we talk? Just the two of us, later today.”
The ask makes Y/N hesitant, but the way Amelia is looking at her makes her give in. “Okay.”
“Awesome,” a smile spreads on Amelia’s face, “coffee, after work?”
“I’ll see you then.” She lets go and Y/N walks away, Amelia’s eyes never leaving her back.
Amelia paces around the lobby of the hospital, her mind racing a mile a minute. She has always considered Y/N her biggest love, maybe even soulmate, if she truly believes in them. Seeing her again has brought the feelings back to the surface and she isn’t sure what to do with them.
Her thoughts come to a halt when she notices Y/N walking towards her. Instead of her scrubs, she’s now wearing her everyday clothes. She looks just as beautiful as she did all those years ago. And she decides to tell her so, “you look beautiful.” Y/N hums with a slight smile, her cheeks turn warm, but she pays no mind to it. “There’s a small cafe down the street.”
“Let’s go then.” As they walk side by side, Y/N bites the inside of her cheek, looking down at the pavement. The silence is uncomfortable and they desperately want to break it, but neither of them know what’s appropriate to say in a situation like this. “How have you been?” Y/N decodes to ask, glancing at Amelia.
“Better. A lot better actually. I’ve been sober for a long time, though it’s still hard sometimes. I got two new sisters, sort of,” she chuckles, “Meredith and Maggie. And I’m the head of neuro department.”
“I heard about Derek. I’m sorry.”
“Yeah.” Amelia sighs. “It’s okay.” She opens the door of the cafe for Y/N before stepping inside herself. At the counter, they order their coffees, and when it comes time to pay, Amelia pushes Y/N’s hand away from the machine. “My treat.” She pays both of their coffees.
“You didn’t have to.”
“I wanted to.” They move to the other side pf the counter to wait for their coffees. “It’s the least I can do after,” she pauses, “everything.”
“It wasn’t completely your fault.” She looks away from her. “You were going through a tough time.”
“That’s no excuse. I hurt you and drove away one of the best things in my life.”
Being one of the best things in her life sounds like an exaggeration, but the sincerity in Amelia’s eyes makes her believe she really means it. “You’re also important to me.” Before the conversation van keep on going, the barista shouts their names. They take their coffees and find a quiet corner place to sit.
“So, what have you been doing all there years?”
“I moved around with Doctors Without Borders.” Y/N sips her drink. “Also studied a bit on the side.”
“And your love life?”
If Amelia was anything, she was blunt. If she wanted know something, she’d ask, Y/N usually liked her unfiltered talk. “Love life, huh?” She giggles with a shake of her head. “There were some flings and one time things, you know, to release stress I suppose. But nothing that stayed.” Amelia listens intently while she drinks her coffee. “And you?”
She shrugs. “There was Link and Kai, but just like every relationship I have had, they ended with someone’s heart broken.” Amelia has a grin on her face. She has already gotten over the past two relationships, but it’s still disheartening to have failed relationships.
“Hm, you’ll find your person.”
“Maybe,” Amelia keeps eye contact with Y/N, “I really hope so.”
Looking down, Y/N taps the mug in front of her with her nails, all the feelings around them getting overwhelming. “Listen,” she changes the subject, “could you be in the surgery tomorrow? I need someone to monitor her brain activity, and you are the best there is.” She lifts her head to give Amelia a teasing look. “Or at least you used to be. Have you gotten worse over the years?”
“Worse? Do you know who you’re talking to? I’m better than ever.” Amelia answers to the teasing look with a challenging look of her own. “What I’m hearing is, you need my help because you aren’t in the best shape.” Her elbows are leaning against the table.
“Oh, wow.” Y/N crosses her arms. “Your ego is still sky high.”
Amelia laughs, which Y/N giggle as well.
The surgery has been going on for six hours already, and the whole room is tense. Amelia and Addison are monitoring the baby’s health, while Y/N is rerouting the veins near the heart. The surgery is already nearing its end, but there’s still things to do.
Y/N lets out a sigh, shaking her hand to ease the pain in her wrist. It has stayed on one position for a long time. She can feel multiple pairs of eyes on the side of her head, there’s an audience in the viewing room. This is an once in a lifetime surgery after all. Double checking everything she has done, Y/N lifts her head to her friends. “Are his vitals good?” The two nod. “Alright, we’re ready to close.” She says shakily, not ready to relax just yet. But she can feel the relief coursing through the room.
The sutures closing the opening on the baby’s chest don’t take long, as the wound isn’t as big as on an adult. The moment the last suture is on its place, people in the viewing room start cheering, so do the doctors in the operation room. Addison and one other doctor take the baby to NICU, not before thanking Y/N though.
Walking out of the room, Y/N slumps down to a chair, taking off her scrub cap. Amelia sits down next to her. “Watching you work is seriously magnificent.”
Y/N laughs, “you’re being dramatic.”
“I’m not!” Amelia throws her arm around Y/N’s shoulders, giving her a side hug. “You’re incredibly and I love you.” Y/N turns to look at her. “Give me another chance? Go on a date with me?”
“Okay.”
“Yeah?” Amelia grins widely.
“Yeah.” Y/N smiles too, her heart beating a hundred miles. She isn’t sure if it’s from the surgery she just did, or the fact that Amelia is looking at her like she’s the only person she cares about.
Amelia nods, feeling like she just won the lottery. “I’ll pick you up at eight, wear something pretty.” She kisses her cheek before walking off, going straight to Addison to tell the good news.

so i’m watching grey’s anatomy for the first time (well tbh i fixated on addison too hard and switched to private practice after S3) and i can’t stop thinking about addison and derek.
from the moment addison is introduced, we’re prepared to hate her. especially considering the common tropes at the time- here comes the big bad wife to rain all over the mer/der parade. but like, despite her past transgression you still kind of want to root for her, even if you want derek and meredith together. i don’t know, i just think it’s so interesting that she goes on to her spin off and he remains a big character in greys and even after the initial mess is all said and done, their shared past is still looming in the background of their individual stories. eleven years of marriage, sixteen years together. that’s not nothing. in his worst moments with meredith and the way he treated her in the early seasons, you can kind of understand how he likely behaved in his first marriage and his part in how it all imploded. i don’t necessarily think they should have ended up together. to be quite honest, i’m not a big fan of derek to begin with. but i think they had such an interesting chemistry even as exes and you can’t untangle them from each other’s backstory. i think that maybe, if he hadn’t met meredith, they would have worked it out.

Private Practice S5 (4/17)
My life has turned into a horror show and all I can do is stand back and watch it play out. My baby has no brain. No brain. I'm a damn neurosurgeon and my baby has no brain. I would say God has a sense of humor but there is no God. No God would do this.

Could you do a part 3 for One last time? (Preferably happy end)
amelia shepherd masterlist | main masterlist
Part 1, Part 2
One Last Time Part 3
Tumblr media
Amelia Shepherd x Female Raeder 3,268 words
You had been fired. Fired from your corporate job, the awkward walk with a box full of your stuff in your hands - only to be seen in movies - was real and you were embarrassed beyond belief. In all fairness you hadn't been fired, you had been cut, but it might as well have been the same thing; you were still without a job.
Your friend stared at you with a frown as she watched you let out another dramatic sigh over the situation you had found yourself in. The two of you had already talked about how unhappy your previous job had made you: the endless hours, the never changing days, the strict dress code and the entitled men. God, you never wanted to go back into a job like that ever again.
"Babysit." Your friend blurted out. You turned your head and raised a singular brow at her that read the word 'really?' "Don't look at me like that, Isaac loves you."
"He fell out of a tree." You dead-panned which made her laugh, but you serious what if Isaac hadn't been so lucky?
"Eh- it was his own fault. Kids are tough." She shrugged as she took a sip of her wine. "You've been there ever since Isaac was born, helping where you could even before his dad left." She stood up and patted your knee, "Think about it, I think you'd do great." She told you as she walked off into the kitchen.
That night you had spent your time researching, and the more that you had, the more that the thought of babysitting became no longer just a thought but something tangible - something truly obtainable. Over the course of a few months, you had begun your journey - training the skills you'd need for your new job. And then you had started your first, official, babysitting job; and you loved it. Every day was something new, it was exciting, bringing something into your life that you hadn't realised had even left - joy. Only after a few months of servicing the standard babysitting, you had decided to switch to a company that focused on providing for those who had more taxing jobs: firefighters, entrepreneurs, paramedics, those who have to travel for work and, of course, surgeons, nurses and doctors.
You checked once again that you had the correct address and pressed a finger to the doorbell; you heard a dull clatter and then the click-clacking of heels on a hard floor before the door swung open. A tall, red-headed woman stood in front of you, a slightly stressed smile on her face as she quickly welcomed you in. Addison Montgomery. You had met before, for your compatibility test, a key part in the hiring process - especially when you'd be spending a lot more time with her son than the regular babysitter. The second you had met Henry, you fell in love with him. So young, but already had such a big character.
"Henry's sleeping right now, just in that room over there, all of his things are in here, there's food in the fridge if you wanna cook or there's money if you'd like to order something," Addison said hurriedly as she gave you a very quick tour of the ground floor of the ocean-side house. "Again, I'm so sorry to call you so late, it's just that I got paged and-" she let out a nervous laugh and tucked her hair behind her ears.
"It's no problem, it is my job after all," you replied and sent her a comforting smile as you followed her to the door. "Now, you should really get going, you have nothing to worry about. I can even send updates if you'd like?" You offered, she was a first-time mum, leaving your child in the care of somebody else was stressful, especially the first time around.
"That'd be perfect, really, I cannot thank you enough." Her eyes flicked to her watch and she stepped outside her door, "okay thank you so, so much, I have to go." You lingered by the door as she ran toward her door, and just as you were about to turn away you heard her shout. "Another person lives here too, just so you don't freak out or anything if she does come home!" You gave her a thumbs up as she rolled up the window and sped off into the night.

"ADDISON!" Amelia shouted as she stood in front of the open fridge, a hand on each door, as she eyed a tub of leftover pasta.
"Gosh, I'm right here," Addison lightly scolded as she rounded the corner into the kitchen. Amelia looked over her shoulder sheepishly and gave her an apologetic smile.
"Can I eat this?" She questioned holding up the tub.
"Yeah," Addison replied with a wave of her hand as she put away Henry's toys that were littered across the floor. Amelia scooped out a portion into her bowl before pushing it into the microwave, almost instantly a divine smell wafted out from behind the door as it heated up her meal. As Amelia shovelled a forkful into her mouth she let out a delighted hum.
"God, this is amazing, who cooked this?" She gasped as she pushed more into her mouth. "Cause it definitely wasn't you." Addison rolled her eyes as she shook her head in reply to Amelia's stab at her.
"Why do you say it like I can't cook?" Addison huffed to which Amelia only raised a brow. "The new babysitter cooked it last night, she's really good with Henry, she's perfect honestly. I was so glad she was able to come on such short notice yesterday."
"Well, you should give her a raise because this," she pointed at the pasta with her fork, "is art." As Amelia swallowed another forkful, she couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia; little did she know that, not even twelve hours earlier, you had been dancing around the kitchen singing to Henry as you chopped up a few tomatoes.
▫▫▫
It had been a month after your first night with Henry and Addison couldn't be happier- you were a big help, always being available for when she was suddenly called in for an emergency. Amelia, however, was yet to meet Addison's god-sent babysitter.
You pushed the key into the lock and quickly shut the door behind you. Addison wasn't home; she had called you saying that she was needed at the hospital and to let yourself in as she wasn't going to be there because her sister was home. You hang your coat on the rack before making your way to Henry's room to check on him, the steady pitter-patter of the shower sounded throughout the house, a telltale sign that somebody else was here. Henry was sleeping soundly and so you started on cleaning the kitchen in preparation of cooking Addison's request for that night.
Amelia stepped out of the shower, her hair wet as she wrapped a towel around herself and tiptoed outside of the bathroom. However, she stopped dead in her tracks when her eyes landed on a door. Just a door, it had been there when she got in and it was there now as she was stepping out. Her brows furrowed as she stared at it. Though still ajar, the door was less ajar than she had remembered. Now, if Amelia hadn't known that she was alone she wouldn't have given it a second thought. But she did and she grew more nervous as each second went by. A clang echoed from downstairs and Amelia felt her heartbeat quicken.
With caution, Amelia stepped down the stairs and peeked through the bannisters for a glimpse of the intruder, but saw nothing. With a deep, soundless, breath, she slinked down the remainder of the stairs and tip-toed her way through the corridor, the clanging getting louder. She saw movement from the corner of her eye and froze. One second passed and then another, stretching for much longer than she thought was possible before a figure shot though the air and smashed into the window, causing Amelia to jump backward.
A bird. Amelia felt herself relax, the towel slacking around her shoulders. After a few more seconds, she saw as the poor bird picked itself up from the floor and hurtled, once again, full force at the window, wincing as she heard the familiar crash and thump. She needed a towel in order to help the bird out and so she started for the kitchen. Little did she know that you were in there, recovering from being 'attacked' by the bird and just about to grab the hand towel from the rack, edging closer and closer to each other without evening knowing it.
Amelia rounded the corner; and let out a frightened shout. Clasping a hand over her chest as she heaved in oxygen. "Jesus fuck!"
"Amelia?" You almost shouted, but there was really no need - you knew that voice anywhere.
"Y/n!" She gaped in shock causing her hand to slip on its hold on the towel ever so slightly. You felt your cheeks reddening at her appearance; damp hair, bright eyes and glowing skin which was only covered by a small towel.
"I um, yeah, what-" your eyes widened and pointed blindly with your thumb behind you- "Addie." Your realisation hit you like a brick, you were working for the Addison, the same Addison that was Amelia's found sister. You watched as Amelia nodded her head that same pout on her lips that she always did, some things never changed.
"You're the babysitter," Amelia hummed as she came to her own revelation. Comically, Henry's cries sounded throughout the kitchen from the monitor and you quickly excused yourself and disappeared, not before Amelia stole a quick look at you leaving. A small smile overcoming her lips before it quickly fell with the widening of her blue eyes.
▫▫▫
Time could not move more quickly; Henry was already a year old and you and Amelia had been dancing around each other for many months. As she became more comfortable around you, you couldn't help but recognise more of her old self; the small habits, the little mannerisms and the quick facial expressions. God, you felt like a teenager again. Falling for the same person.
You fell back onto the sofa with an exhausted sigh - getting Henry down was proving much harder now that he had the physical ability to explore, it being all that he wanted to do - and grabbed the remote from the coffee table. As you flicked through the endless number of films and shows you heard keys to the front door jingle before it cracked open. Heavy boots echoed throughout the silent room, only lit by the light from the television, as they moved closer. You already knew who it was; you could pick her out in a room, blind.
"Y/n!" She greeted with her wide grin as she threw her keys onto the counter.
"How was work?" You questioned as she passed you, kicking off her shoes and falling back onto the sofa next to you. So close her thigh was pressed up against yours, the heat of her skin blooming across yours causing your cheeks to burn ever so slightly.
"It was alright, nothing too special, just one aneurysm after the other," she mumbled before reaching over you to grab a handful of crisps. "What're we watching?" She nodded, mouth full, toward the screen.
"Oh-" you let out, quickly directing your attention away from her, "nothing yet." You felt Amelia turn to you, raising a brow and taking the remote from you, and before you could protest, music sounded throughout the room. "What's this?"
"Something good," she replied, eyes already glued to the screen, and you couldn't help the smile pulling at the corners of your lips before turning to stare at the same screen.
Your skin was burning - not like how it does when it touches something just out of the oven, but more as if you had been struck by lightning. You felt static. Amelia had inched further, cuddling into your side as your hand rested on her waist; how it happened? You didn't know. The scene displayed in front of you was serene, romantic, like a field of wildflowers and your skin was tingly - like the feeling of holding something that was about to fall. You felt her shift softly beside you and you turned your head, only for your breath to hitch, her blue eyes already on yours. You searched her eyes, as music began to play, and watched intently as they flicked to your lips. You mirrored her movements. Heart steadily picking up speed. Lup-dup. Her tongue poked out to wet her bottom lip. Lup-dup. You did the same. Lup-dup. Your eyes connected; and she began to lean in. Lup-dup, lup-dup. Your hand pulled her in further and her fingers lightly touched your collar bone. Lup-dup, lup-dup, lup-dup. Her soft lips met yours, your eyes fluttered closed, and the two of you moved rhythmically like a song remembered only once it begins to play. Her hands feeling across the top of your chest before she found purchase on your shoulders as she unconsciously swung a leg over your lap to straddle you.
And then the two of you jolted away. Henry's cries blaring through the room. Cutting sharply through your moment. Her chest heaved in time with yours as she stared down at you with her pupil-blown eyes. You swallowed nervously and Henry let out his second wave of screams.
Soundlessly, Amelia slid off of your lap and sat cross-legged on the sofa as she watched you send her a nervous smile and hurriedly make your way up to the baby. Leaving her picking at her pink, swollen lips - courtesy of you - with a shit-eating grin on her face.
You didn't see Amelia until a week later when you were pushed into a storage cupboard.
"There's a special thing happening at mummy's work today and you get to meet all of her friend's kids," you answered Henry's question as you pulled his top over his head. "You're gonna make a ton of new friends today, Henry." You promised him before you scooped him up in your arm and swung his bag onto your other shoulder.
You hear the sound of a loud horn come from outside and you quickly rushed down the stairs and out the door to see the Uber that you had asked for waiting just outside the house. You gave Henry his dummy after you strapped him securely into the back seat, before climbing into the passenger's side as you apologised for being late.
After a few moments of awkward silence - only filled by the low rumble of the engine and the constant noise of the outdoors - the driver, John, turned to you. You gave him a quick smile as he found the words to say, before he shook his head and continued the journey just as it had started.
You saw the hospital come into view and you quickly checked the time only for your eyes to widen, Addison was going to kill you. As soon as the car rolled to a stop you leapt out of the passenger door and pulled open the back door to unclip Henry from the seat and pull him up into you. "Thank you! Wait-" you started as you began to rummage through the pockets in your trousers, "here." You pushed a note into the man's hand and you moved to close the door.
"Is he yours?" The driver questioned, pausing you from closing the door fully. You could hear the judgement in his voice; you looked younger than you were, but to have that firsthand account of prejudice just because you had a baby with you - you couldn't believe it.
"No." You said bluntly with a scowl and closed the door shut, harder than you normally would, and turned forcefully on your heel into the hospital. Addison was the first person to greet you, taking Henry from your arms, before she guided you to the nursery quickly.
"Where have you been, Y/n?" She questioned your tardiness.
"I know, I know, I'm sorry! But I couldn't find Henry's dummy this morning and he did not want to wear his clothes today. And! That Uber driver definitely thought I was Henry's mother and was definitely judging me for it. I could see it in that man's eyes, y'know?" You rambled as you skipped every other step just to catch up with her.
Addison sent you a sad smile and then she was pushing through the door to the nursery. Your mood instantly brightened, it was as if a paint factory had exploded; the kids were dipping their hands and feet into paint and pressing them into the white walls - with the help of an adult of course.
"Addison, I'll just put the bags here and be in my way," you walked to the collection of bags in the corner and squatted down as you checked that Henry had everything he needed.
"You can stay if you'd like," Addison urged. "You know that Henry adores you," she frowned as she made Henry look at you."
"Awwh I'm really sorry, Henry, but I've got something nice in the oven." You looked over to Addison, "Your favourite," and you watched as her face lit up as she hummed at the thought.
"Okay, fine, say bye-bye to Y/n," she told him as she moved his hand to wave goodbye. You let out a wide grin as you said your goodbyes and left the nursery.
You paused. Mentally bashing yourself for not looking around as you had previously followed Addison through the hospital. You squinted, telling yourself that you did in fact know the way before taking one step after the other.
You were lost. Definitely lost. And where was everyone? Weren't you in a hospital? You let out a deep breath before continuing on your journey, when a familiar figure came from behind a corner.
"Amelia!" You sighed happily as you began to move to her side. She looked serious and you slowed down slightly, but she was still coming closer.
"Hi," she began when she was close enough to put a hand on your back and guide you, quite forcefully you'll admit, into a storage cupboard. The door closed behind her.
"Woah! What, hello?" Your eyebrows furrowed as your eyes searched Amelia for answers.
"Can we talk?" She sounded so serious and you instantly zipped your mouth shut and nodded your head. "We kissed," you nodded your head again, "I really like you and if you want to- I'd really like to try again. I've changed, I promise."
Amelia was picking at her fingers as a smile grew on your face. "Amelia, I really like you too and I'd love if we tried again." Amelia's head shot up and her blue eyes bore into yours.
"Really?" And you let out a laugh as you pulled her closer.
"Yes, really. Of course, really." You smiled and Amelia pressed her lips to your own in a sweet kiss. The smile on your face mirrored by her, until your face fell.
"Shit."
Let's just say that Addison's muffins were definitely burnt to a crisp. However, you and Amelia had lots of fun remaking them: teaching her the recipe, (her) making a mess, dancing to music and stealing kisses in between breaks. The two of you were going to be just fine.

Title: Abandoned
Pairing: Addison Montgomery x Reader
Prompt: "What kind of trouble are you going to get me into?"
Word Count: 742
Ash chewed on the end of her pen as she stared down at the paperwork in front of her. She knew that Meredith was leaving, and yet, everything still hit her like a ton of bricks. Seattle was never supposed to be Ash's home, but when the time came for her to leave, she couldn't. Even without the person keeping her in Seattle, Ash couldn't let herself go anywhere else.
"I thought I'd find you here." Addison sat down next to Ash. There was no response or even acknowledgement that Addison was there, but the redhead expected as much. Ash had a tendency of getting very into her work. She was a talented surgeon, one who could have gone absolutely anywhere. "Are you almost finished?"
"It's been done for the past two and a half hours. I keep waiting for Meredith to walk in and take it from me," Ash muttered. Addison frowned at the sadness in Ash's voice. It wasn't like her to be so torn up about anything. Addison knew how childish the rumors about Ash were, but there was a bit of merit to them. Ash wasn't the most emotionally open person, but it had come in handy before.
"Tell me what I can do to help you," Addison said. Ash shrugged as she placed the pen she had been chewing on in her pocket. Addison sighed as she sat down on the edge of Ash's desk. "Come on, let's get out of here for a little while."
"Where are we going?" Ash asked. Addison didn't answer her as they walked out of the little office.
"I think that you need to get out of this place for a little while," Addison said. Ash sighed, but let Addison lead her into the elevators anyway. They went up to the top floor of the hospital, and Addison made a beeline for the rooftop access. They didn't have any flights coming in or out for the time being, so it was surprisingly peaceful.
"Addison, I have work to do," Ash huffed.
"Not for right now," Addison said. She put her arm around Ash's shoulders and just sort of held her for a moment. "I know that you don't want to talk about it, but just listen, okay?"
"Okay," Ash sighed. She had been dreading this talk for a long time. Meredith was gone. She had left Seattle and left Ash. They were supposed to be best friends, and once again, Ash was left to feel almost completely alone.
"You've been through a lot. This place has taken almost everybody you've ever loved away from you. It did the same to Meredith. You guys were close because of it, and she left too. I can't imagine how you feel, but I can promise you that Meredith didn't abandon you. She'll come back, and even if she doesn't, there's an open invitation to go visit her."
Addison could see that Ash was uncomfortable. For a moment, she looked like the scared girl who had come in with her brothers to be there for her father. Ash looked like George: small, scared, and a little bit pathetic. She wasn't her older brother, though. Ash was brilliant, and Addison didn't get to see the journey there, but she was more than happy to see the woman Ash had grown into.
"It's not fair that every time I open up and let myself get close to someone, they die," Ash muttered. Addison tilted Ash's chin and stared down at her. "I don't want you to go too. I love you."
"I'm not going anywhere, I promise. I love you too much to let that happen," Addison promised. Ash threw herself into Addison's arms and stayed there as she started to sob. Addison could tell that it wasn't out of sadness, but relief. Ash let everything out before quickly composing herself.
"Thank you for taking me up here," Ash said. Addison just nodded and smiled. The smile was forced, but Ash was too distracted to tell. "I really should get back to work. They've got me checking the intern reports."
"Good luck," Addison laughed. Ash went back down, but Addison stayed right where she was. The realization of how important Ash was scared Addison. It was worse than Derek or any other person that she'd been with, and all of them had left Addison in shambles. "What kind of trouble are you going to get me into?"

addison montgomery x reader, private practice style pretty pls
i love a good “who did this to you?” lots of angst and care taker addison. giving you kisses when you’re stuck in a hospital bed.
i also love a little bit of addison crying on the shoulder of someone worried about you.
i love a good who did this to you moment as well. and i also live for the angst!!
tw: mentions of charlottes accident, mentions of past abusive relationship
who did this?
You couldn’t have possibly seen it coming. You thought you’d gotten away from him, but now it was evident you hadn’t.
Sam found you as you were leaving the hospital, and thank god he did.
You definitely weren’t in a good state at all, and you’d been out for a while. You’d had surgery done by Charlotte for internal bleeding and you were going to make it.
But again, you weren’t in a good state.
Addison found out almost immediately, as she was getting prepared to leave when Charlotte and Sam were rolling you inside from the entrance.
Charlotte had to tell Addison to get back because she was a conflict of interest.
You fell for Addison quickly after moving here a few years ago, and you obviously never thought your ex would find you.
You laid back in a hospital bed now, slowly coming out of consciousness.
“She’s waking up,” You recognize the voice to be from your best friend, Cooper.
“It’s a slow process, Coop,” Charlotte sighs upsettingly. “She’s been almost waking up for hours now.”
Your vision is blurry as you try to take in the bodies in the room. It only looked like there was Addison, Charlotte, Violet and Cooper in the room.
You feel wetness on your right hand, and you assume that’s where Addison is sitting. You can barely see Violet pacing back in forth in front of your hospital bed, as well as Charlotte trying to console Cooper on your left side.
“I don’t understand what happened,” You hear Coopers heart breaking, and yours breaks all over for all of them. You wish you could tell them.
“It had to have been someone from her past,” Violet says, her pointer finger and thumb digging into her eyes. She was tired.
You imagine Charlotte hollowing her cheeks in anger.
She wasn’t sure about you at first when you first moved back to LA due to you being Coopers closest friend and her being undeniably in love with him, but she came around to you eventually. And now, she was like a sister to you just like Cooper was a brother.
“We’ll find them,” Charlottes says in her southern drawl. “He or she. Whoever that may be. We’ll get her justice just like you did for me.”
You feel Addison’s grip adjust in your hand, and you know that hit a spot. Even thinking about something like that happening to you hurt her deeply.
“What do you think Addison?” Violet asks, but only receives silence. You haven’t heard Addison say a word since you had slightly woken. “Addison?”
You feel her lift her head and look at the other three people in your room before standing and exiting the room.
You see Violet exit as well behind her.
“I should,” Charlotte nods and kisses Cooper on the head before exiting as well.
“Y/n/n,” Cooper grabs your left hand. “You need to wake up soon, got it? You’re driving me insane, and you’re driving Addison insane. And.. although she won’t admit it, you’re driving Charlotte insane too. She cares about you too. We all do.”
You’re listening to what he says as you try to make out what is happening in the hall.
Addison has her hands on her hips and she’s looking up at the ceiling. Most likely to stop the tears from hitting her cheeks. She has her lips pressed together to stop any quiet cries from escaping her lips.
Charlotte says something that makes her bow her head, finally breaking and letting everyone else see the tears.
You knew Charlotte wasn’t one for PDA, so you were surprised when you made out her figure wrapping around Addison’s to comfort her.
“It’s going to be okay,” Charlotte rubs her back. “I care about her just as much. And I’m just as scared as you.”
“We’re all here for you Addison,” Violet promises.
You awake fully, your eye site still blurry, but clearing up, nonetheless.
“Guys,” Cooper widens his eyes, coming to the edge of the door, hanging onto the door frame.
Addison removes her head from Charlottes shoulder and is immediately by your side again.
“Y/n?” Her eyebrows are crunched up sadly, and you’re afraid if you speak she might start crying again. “Oh, my sweet girl.”
“We should leave them,” Violet suggests from the doorway.
Cooper and Charlotte nod, and reluctantly follow the woman out.
“I was so scared,” Addison leans her head down, kissing your scraped up knuckles. “My heart dropped when I saw you on the bed. I didn’t know what to do or say.”
“I’m sorry,” Your voice is scratchy. “It’s going to be okay.”
“It’s not, Y/n,” She shakes her head angrily. “Who did this to you?”
“My ex,” You squeeze her hand in reassurance.
“Who are they?” She asks with tears streaming freely.
“It was a man,” You cough. “He was abusive when I was with him and that’s why I moved here in the first place. To get away from him.”
Addison shakes her head, “I’m never letting you out of my sight again.”
You smile lightly at your girlfriend because you know she isn’t lying.
“Come here,” You move over in the bed, wincing slightly at the movement.
“Are you sure?” Addison asks. “I dont want to hurt you.”
“Addie, you won’t hurt me,” You laugh lightly. “I promise.”
She slides into the bed alongside you, moving so your head is on top of her chest and her arms are around you. She kisses you softly on the head.
You tilt your head up at her so she could kiss you on the lips, and she does.
“I love you Addie, thank you for taking care of me.”
“I will always take care of you,” She nods and the two of you fall asleep on the bed together. If you’re going to be uncomfortable, Addison may as well be uncomfortable with you.
