A little gift
Levi Ackerman x fem!reader, pure fluff bc we all need it now...
The sky was clear blue with a couple of clouds forming, you breathed in the fresh air as you walked, carrying a little box in your hand. You were nervous to tell Levi the news but it filled you with endless joy too.
Since the rumbling ended three years ago, you and Levi have been working on healing, well, you worked mostly on healing him. The first year was the hardest but you stuck with Levi through good and bad. It got better with time, after all, time heals everything.
You smile as the kids run past you, chasing birds, and they return the smile. So innocent and young. Then your eyes land on him, he is in his wheelchair looking through the crate of candy in his lap. As he looks up at you, you smile at him.
He no longer had dark circles under his eyes and for some reason, he looked even younger now. The scar that ran across his face no longer bothered him and he looked calm and despite not showing it much, you knew that he was happy.
"What are you doing here?" Levi asks, with a slight smile on his face as you approach him. You lean down to give him a quick kiss which he gladly returns, his soft lips pressing against your briefly.
"I came here to give a gift." You try your best not to smile, despite the obvious joy on your face. "A gift?" He asked, it wasn't his birthday, nor any special date that he knew. To be honest, you coming to see him was the best gift they could've asked for. He sees you every day, kisses you every night and somehow he still can't get enough of you.
Nodding your head, you hand him the small box. Levi takes it in his hands, a slight eyebrow arches as he looks at it. "It's light." He comments before opening the box, his eyes look at what's inside the box for a little while.
After some seconds, he takes the little baby shoes out of the box, the realization hitting him like a train. His eyes go wide as he looks up at your smiling face, a slight flush on your cheeks. Levi just stares at you for a couple of minutes, unsure of what to say.
Then, his eyes fill up with tears slightly. "You're...pregnant." You nod at his words, a happy smile still on your face. Stunning, you looked so stunning in his eyes, he couldn't believe it. He will be a father, there's a little baby growing inside of you. It's all too much to process.
Levi lets out a deep breath and then he smiles at you. "I am going to be a dad..." He reaches out to take your hand, the truth was he was almost jumping out of his wheelchair from happiness, he squeezes your hand.
"Name...thank you." He says rubbing his fingers on your skin gently. He needed this, he needed a child. All those times he looked at one of the children and wondered what it would feel like to have his own. And now he finally will.
"For what?" You smile and step closer to him, Levi wraps his arms around you, leaning his head on your stomach. "Everything. For giving me a child." He kisses your stomach, you run your fingers through his smooth hair gently. Levi closes his eyes, enjoying the feeling.
"Always." You say and look up to see Yelena and Pon both smile at you from the distance, happy for you and Levi. Nodding you turn your attention back to Levi. "I couldn't think of a better way to tell you. I remember when you saw those in a shop a week ago and I noticed the way you stopped to get a look. It was hard not to tell you then." You chuckle as Levi pulls away, a clam expression on his face.
"I'll have a little brat soon huh?" That makes you laugh, you step back slightly and take the box out of candy out of his lap and the baby shoes too. "You'll have two, you already have me." You sit on his lap and Levi kisses your jaw.
"That I do. And I'll have another one now, that I will love more than anything." He kisses you softly, his hands wrapped around you. His heart if filled with joy, he can't wait to hold his baby in his arms.
After all the hardships, he couldn't believe that he was here with you and that now you're expecting his child. Levi is sure that the baby will heal him more than anyone.

The entire group hadn't been back to Hawkins, all at once, in nearly 20 years.
The last time they were truly all together was the Christmas before Eddie left for Chicago and Nancy left for college, back in 87, the first to 'escape'. Though, it didn't take many years for everyone else to follow their lead.
Steve is the only one who stayed behind. But he didn't think it was all that bad. Robin had moved back to Indy city once she finished college, so she visited often. He's not truly alone, even if it does feel like it... most of the time.
2007 is a good year though. It's the first year that Eddie comes back to Hawkins. They've been having little reunions with as many of the group as they can, every Christmas. But there's always a few people too busy- Eddie is always one, always on tour or writing or recording.
Not this year though. And Steve is finally excited, looking forward to something so much that it buzzes under his skin.
The others are already there once Eddie arrives, the last to arrive. Steve reluctantly hangs back, trying to downplay his excitement as he watches Dustin and Erica shove their way ahead of the others, trying to greet him first.
He looks great, Steve notes. Healthy.
"And Harrington," Eddie finally greets, already saying his hellos to everyone else. "I see the crows feet only add to your charm, shame on you."
"Yeah, it's good to see you too."
Eddie laughs, eyes scrunching up, dragging Steve into a hug. Steve is happy to note that he lingers, forehead pressing down against his collar for a moment before he steps back.
"Come on, it's Christmas Eve! We're all together, at long last! Put some music on, get the alcohol!" Eddie snaps.
Everyone does as asked and, soon, Steves usually cold, empty house is full of music and laughter. The burn of cheap alcohol warming his stomach and the smell of Eddie and Argyles weed filling the air are an old but familiar comfort that he hadn't realized how much he'd been aching for.
Steve sits in the corner, on his own.
For a moment, he just wants to watch everyone else. To look around his living room, so full of people that Mike, Robin, Argyle and Lucas are sat on the floor. So full of people that Max had grabbed El with shaking hands, pulling her onto her lap, coaxing her into sharing her wheelchair.
As soon as Eddie wiggles out of the corner he'd squeezed himself into, Mike and Lucas are fighting for the space. Mike only wins, sitting down on the sofa with a smug grin, before Will helps him.
Eddie sits down on the little side table, next to Steve.
"How've you been holding up?"
"I've been good. Not as good as you, though. The Rolling Stones, huh?"
"Oh, uh, you saw that?" Eddie smiles a little sheepish. "Yeah, it's... it's been getting crazy. I don't know how it happened. One day we're a small, underground thing and the next, we're almost mainstream."
"Underground," Steve parrots, snorting. "Your first single was played on the radio. You guys have always been big."
"You listen to us, Harrington?"
"Of course. And, you know, I have a first name."
"Really?" Eddie gasps, throwing a hand to his chest. "By the Gods!"
"I know, crazy!"
They fall silent, watching the new little fight breaking out. By the yelling, Steve guesses that Dustin stole one of the pieces of candy that Mike is eating.
"I missed this," Eddie quietly admits. "I'm sorry I didn't come back sooner."
"Nah, you were busy with-"
"I wasn't. I wasn't busy. I lied to just... avoid this. Avoid Hawkins. And it's... it's not good being back, I won't lie. But it's... seeing the kids again, seeing- seeing you... it's..."
Steve waits a moment. "What?"
"It makes it worth it. It makes me wish I never left."
"You had to. Corroded Coffin was your dream and you made it happen."
"I know, I just... sometimes I wonder. You know, maybe I could've been happier here. Maybe I could've... I don't know."
"Maybe. But you're happy now, right? And you're so successful! You're doing everything you said you dreamt of doing."
"Mhm..." Eddie hesitates again, for another long pause. "Robin said that you... you're bi."
"Yeah?" Steve frowns, turning to face him a little, wondering where he's going.
"I keep thinking that, I don't know... maybe if I'd stayed..."
Steve nearly presses a hand to his chest, so sure that his heart must have missed a beat. "Wh-what? We... we could've..."
"Yeah, maybe," Eddie whispers. He tugs a strand of hair in front of his face, eyes peaking out at him. "It's just a thought. Or something. I don't know."
"I mean... you're here now."
"What, you wanna give it a shot?" Eddie laughs, shaking his head. "We're going on tour again, in a couple weeks. There's no point in-"
"There is. I mean... if you want to try, I'm willing to, like, put in the effort. We could make it work."
Eddie laugh turns into more a sigh, an almost dreamy look taking over his face. "You're sure?"
"I am." He reaches over, grabbing his hand. "I really am."
"Steve Harrington... Merry fucking Christmas to me, huh?"

As a Hufflepuff who would have 100% been forced to not use their wheelchair because Umbridge would think I was faking my disability for attention, yeah we gonna get some Whump in this shit. ((Lowkey having some rough shit going on mentally so some vent fic like this will be hella. Thanks anon! Perfect timing!
—————————————————
Honey Wounds
Warning: Violence, Umbridge in general, blood, torture, whump, hurt/comfort 🎆🐝🎇
Tumblr media
“Where’s little bumble bee-?” The twins would worry, as they had wondered why you didn’t show up to the secret little defense class Harry started up. Where could their little Hufflepuff be? Had them a little worried. By little, it was a lot. Things have been getting a lot more tense recently. Umbridge was really hammering down, and she was making her mission to find a way to get those two into Azkaban. By any means possible. The only reason she hasn’t was probably because of Percy somehow. As they worried, someone was quick to grab them.
“Fred, George, something bad happened. Something really bad happened-!” The first year was crying, and the duo were on red alert now. The poor kid was in to many tears to really speak, so they figured there was no need to. George was quick to pick the first year up, as the child was just pointing. Fred was in the running lead, as George was trying to comfort the child. The poor kid was hiccuping, and seeming so scared. Something bad happened, and they had to figure out what it was. That’s when they saw it. Blood on the barrels, like someone was slapping bloody hand’s desperately to get into the Hufflepuff dorm.
“Shit shit shit, what did she do now-?” Fred hissed, as he tried to focus on entering the dorm. Having to get literal blood on his hands, in order to get inside. With the pattern played, the duo were able to run inside. Left to see the Hufflepuff dorm full of noise. So many students all busy and around someone. When Hannah Abbott noticed the twins, she stepped away. Pulling away fellow students, and the horror was on display.
“Fred, George..?” It was you, and you were not looking hot. Not looking hot at all. You were horribly pale, and your hands looked as if they had been through a chopping block. The fellow Puff’s had done their best to try and help, but it was like they wouldn’t stop bleeding. George had instantly covered the first years eyes, despite the fact the child had long seen it. It was just habit after all.
“WHAT HAPPENED-?!” Fred was soon by your side, while George was quick to hand the child off to someone. Now he was on your other side. You were just to tired to really process it all, given the blood loss. If it wasn’t for their brilliant hair, you would have assumed it was just more worried Hufflepuff’s. Just trying so hard to help. It’s rather scary. Sure, it’s Hogwarts. Things get violent, but this wasn’t just a random accident. Nor some run in with a beast. This was a woman who wanted to hurt.
“I didn’t tell her. I didn’t tell her-“ You managed to say, with a smile. The twins looked at each other, wondering what you were blabbering about, before they were quick to take over. The Puff’s made sure to stay out of their way, as the twins were able to move in ever perfect unison. Not needing to speak, to move. Fred was quick to start emptying their bags, as George was taking care in trying to wash the wounds on your hands.
“I know it’s in here, come on out you bastard-“ Fred hissed, as he sorted through the assortment of old tins they had collected. Each with its own experiment, as George tried to not freak out. Seeing you hurt like this. It was making him feel so many emotions. Anger at Umbridge, fear for what that woman will do next, sadness for your pain, anxiety on it Ron and Ginny would be next. It was all so loud in his eyes, as he tried not to let the tears spill.
“Found it-!” Fred sighed, as he was quick to start lathering a strange substance on your hands. It felt rather strange. As if he was lathering your open wounds with pudding. You expected it to hurt, but it was rather nice. Very cooling to your burning wounds. It would soon seem to harden on your fingers and palms. As if stopping you from bleeding, and absorbing the blood. Forcing it to stay inside. If you weren’t so dizzy, you would praise them for being so smart.
“Bumble Bee….What happened?” Fred asked, as George was busy with someone. Quick to get some water from one of the prefects, and try and nurse it into your body. George was gentle, and you needed it. You choked on it, but he knew you had to drink some. You lost alot of blood, and you had to stay hydrated. He would keep your head against his chest, as you managed to get some down. Enough to satisfy him, and calm his nerves. You could feel how sweaty his hands were, with worry, as he stroked your hair. With a few minutes to breath, you spoke.
“She brought me to her office. Asked me who had broken in it last night. I said I didn’t know. She didn’t like that, but I didn’t give up.” You smiled, as the twins were staring in horror. They broke into her office, last night. They swore they didn’t leave behind a trace. They had to break in. She confiscated Ginny’s bracelet. Said she fiddled with it too much. It was made just for her, by Bill. Ever since the incident in the chamber of secrets, she was more susceptible to dark magic. So, a Curse breaker made her something to help. Umbridge was actively putting her in danger. How could they not protect their little sister?
“It was a trap…..She did that on purpose-“ Fred realized, as it made sense. Of course they would break in to get it back. That horrid woman. “Can’t believe she dragged you into this. I mean, I can, but you get the point I’m making here! We’re so sorry Honey Bee-“ George would soon echo, as he kissed your head. Feeling so guilty. You didn’t blame them, of course, but they sure didn’t stop feeling guilty.
“It’s ok. Im ok. Ginny needed it. Like I would ever rat you two out.” You tried to reassure them, but their minds were made up. They had to do something about Umbridge. This woman was going insane. The twins swore she wasn’t aware that you three were in a relationship of sorts. They were magical twins. Not fair to compare them to muggle ones. They shared a partner, no big deal. Communication makes the dream work. Seems like maybe you three communicated in the wrong hallway one to many times, and she put two and two together.
“We are going to fix this. We promise.” The twins spoke, as they comforted you. George with keeping your head to his chest, as Fred was between your legs. Hugging your stomach, and nuzzling into your thigh. Just needing to hold onto you. As if you would disintegrate into his hands then and there. You would have comforted him, but it didn’t seem like your hands wanted to exist at the moment.
“Looks like we can’t wait for that down payment any longer. Now or never.” George said, as Fred gave a defeated sigh. He was right. If they stayed at Hogwarts any longer, Merlin knows who else she will drag into their mess. George was right, it was now or never. Because never means they’ll be in Azkaban for murdering her at this point.
“Say, Bumble bee….Think you can handle living in a rundown hollowed building for a while?” Fred asked, as you tried to focus your eyes. You didn’t really understand half of what they were saying, but you knew this. Wherever they went, you would follow. “What makes it any different from a dungeon?” You tried to joke, and that seemed to solidify the deal. Look out world, the Weasley Twins were about to show off their latest invention.

A story about the End of the Wild West; or, the Prophet sees two trains explode on his one-hundred-and-fourth birthday.
(Aka my Activity 1 for the @dollarstrilogyevent that I got way too into hahahaha)
By his own reckoning, Prophet was one-hundred and four years old as of that September in 1896. Perhaps unsurprisingly he had lost most of his hearing, but his vision was still good. He saw the door of his shack swing open, and he struggled to sit up in bed. “I've already found Jesus and I'm not buying anything!”
The face that poked around the door belonged to Fluke Dudley, a young man who worked on the ranch that had sprung up next door. He was just about the only one who visited him anymore. “It's me, Prophet,” he said. “I w- - - - - to - - - - you- -”
“Speak up, boy!”
“I SAID THERE'S SOMEWHERE I'D LIKE TO TAKE YOU TODAY!”
“What? Where's that, then?”
“IT'S A SURPRISE!” Fluke scratched his nose and grinned. “For your birthday. You'll like it, sir, I promise.”
Prophet grumbled but allowed Fluke to lift him into the rickety wheelchair that sat beside his bed. “Don't need remindin’ about no birthday,” he said. “I've had about ten too many of ‘em, I reckon. Wish someone had put me out of my misery back when the goddamn good-for-nothing trains took my hearing!”
“Oh, don't talk like that.”
“I'm a hundred and four years old, I'll talk however I damn well please!”
Fluke rolled him out of the shack, towards one of the ranch's small one-horse wagons. He lifted the old man up onto the seat and stowed the chair in the bed, then jumped up and flicked the reins.
Prophet squinted at the scenery as they rolled slowly alongside the train tracks. “I used to get visits from all sorts of people, you know,” he said. “I used to know everything about everybody in these parts. They'd come from miles around to see me. To get their information.”
Fluke nodded. He'd heard this story before.
“Lawmen, outlaws, drifters,” Prophet continued. “Bounty killers. I've seen them all. But they just don't make men like that anymore. I tell you, boy, things have got too civilized around here.”
“ - - - - ”
“What?”
“I SAID YOU'RE RIGHT!”
“Damn sure I'm right.” Prophet leaned over the side of the wagon to glare down at the tracks. “It's all the fault of those trains! They take all the civilized folk from out east, load ‘em up into their carriage cars with the lacy curtains and little fruity drink trolleys, and send ‘em out here. And soon enough there's so much civilization around a man can't hardly be himself anymore.”
Prophet leaned back and went silent for a while. “I wonder how many of those young men who used to come and see me are still alive,” he said. “They strung up Willie Foster last year, I know that. And Kid Frasier fell off his hoss. That old marshal Colby… whatever happened to him?”
“He got killed in a shootout, you said.”
“Right, right. Davey and Red Kelly done it, and then they run off to Mexico.” He blinked as another wagon passed by them. It was loaded up with people, chatting and laughing. He lost his thought for a moment, then picked it back up again. “Angel Eyes… he's long gone. That retired colonel went back to North Carolina. Now what was that young buck's name… Manco. Fell off the face of the earth, far as I can remember. And worst of all, poor old Cheyenne…”
“Shot in the gut by the president of the railroad company,” Fluke muttered.
“...shot in the gut by the president of the railroad company! Did you ever hear of a worse way to go?!” Prophet sighed. “Somehow I outlived them all. Now I'm the last of a dyin’ breed. They just don't make men like us anymore.”
“No sir,” Fluke said. There were more wagons around now, and people walking along the tracks, too. They all seemed to be going in the same direction. Fluke tipped his hat as they passed by a group of ladies holding parasols.
Prophet looked at him skeptically. “Where exactly are you taking me? There sure are a lot of other people headed this way.”
“You'll find out soon,” Fluke said. “We're almost there.”
“There’s nothin’ wrong with my hair!”
“I SAID WE'RE ALMOST THERE!”
As they kept riding the crowd really started to thicken. They passed by lemonade stands and carnival games, a grandstand with a band, even a circus tent. “Just this once I'm glad I'm deaf,” Prophet muttered. “Who's runnin’ a goddamn county fair along the train tracks?”
Fluke slowly drew the wagon to a stop and pointed up at a large banner that had been hoisted next to a section of the track. It read ‘Crush, Texas. Est. September 15, 1896.’
“The railroad company's putting on a demonstration,” Fluke said, raising his voice even more than usual over the sound of the crowd. “They're gonna take two old steam engines, run ‘em as fast as they can, and crash ‘em right into each other!” He beamed with pride. “How do you like that for a birthday present, sir? You and me are gonna watch two trains smash each other to smithereens!”
Prophet blinked. “...What? The railroad company’s gonna smash their own trains?” he said, puzzled. “What for?”
“They're old engines, I guess,” Fluke said. “No use for ‘em anymore.”
“So they're crashing them? What, with all these people around?”
“It's supposed to be very safe. No chance of the boilers exploding or anything, that's what the man from the railroad said.”
Prophet went quiet for a while. Fluke felt his own excitement start to deflate. He'd been so sure the old man would love to see this. All he ever talked about was how much he hated trains! The whole affair seemed perfectly designed with him in mind. But he didn't look excited. In fact, he seemed a little… sad.
“The railroad company…” he muttered. “Making a whole damn spectacle out of busting up some old trains that aren't good for nothing anymore. And it's perfectly safe. ‘Course it is.”
A ripple of excitement went through the crowd; rumbling could be heard in the distance. Fluke slouched on the bench of the wagon. “...I'm sorry, Prophet. I thought for sure you'd like to see it.”
“Oh, don't look so damn mopey, boy,” Prophet said, gently. “Old bastards like me can't ever be satisfied with nothin’, that's all.”
They sat there in silence for a while. Fluke listened to the rumbling while Prophet watched two black dots appear on either end of the horizon and grow steadily closer.
Eventually the rumbling grew to a roar, and an anticipatory hush fell over the crowd. The ground began to shake. The trains were close enough to their destined meeting place now that Prophet could make out the shape of the engine cars, could see the smoke billowing from their antiquated stacks. For the first time in his life, the sight of the damn things didn't fill him entirely with hatred. They were being put out to pasture, just like him. To make way for newer, better trains. And when it happened it would be a perfectly-designed show, perfectly safe. Perfectly civilized.
The two trains met right beneath the banner. There was a mighty crash, so loud that even Prophet could hear it, and the sound of splintering wood. Then, a moment of total silence.
When the explosion began, time seemed to slow for Prophet. He could see a bright orange light well up within each of the smashed engines, then blossom into two beautiful balls of flame. The light danced in his eyes, and he smiled with glee. The boilers of the old engines had blown up after all. The sight of it was breathtaking.
All this took place within less than a second. As the fire billowed outwards, the force of the explosion sent millions of pieces of metallic debris straight into the gathered crowd. Prophet grinned with ecstasy and thought about how awful this was going to be for the railroad company. Oh, they were going to have hell to pay for this. It was a fiasco. Maybe it would even drive them out of business...! Of all the ways for a man like him to go, this was a fine one. He was grateful the boy had brought him out here, after all.
The explosion nearly knocked Fluke from the wagon, and he felt a stinging pain in his forearms as he shielded his face. It was all over in only a moment. He could hear groans and shouts from the crowd as he slowly regained his senses. He looked down at his arms; he'd been hit by some shrapnel, but not badly.
He turned quickly towards Prophet, then froze. The old man lay flopped backwards over the wagon bench, unmoving.
A metal bolt had gone straight into his forehead. Even so, there was a satisfied smile on his face.

I saw @paladinbaby‘s Aelwen fanart like three months ago where Aelwyn was in a wheelchair and I have no recollection of that being cannon (maybe it is and this is just me being redundant) but in my heart of hearts I know it fucking is. Aelwen Abernant is a wheelchair user.
I’m thinking about the cartilage in her knees and ankles and how that would have worn away as constant use and pressure on her joints continued as she walked and walked and walked in that hamster wheel. Shin splints and strange muscle development and possible broken bones from weeks of constant and repetitive impact. She probably lives in chronic pain that fluctuates with the weather and the food she eats and what she did yesterday and how/where she slept. Her hips probably grind in their sockets too because your body isn’t meant to walk for so long.
Her bones are probably fragile from the lack of food too and she might be more prone to breaking them if she falls. She can probably walk with or without mobility aids some or even most days and maybe the wheelchair and canes and crutches were something she had a hard time coping with at first but then her new family helped her to realize that they were something she needed and something that made her life less painful and gave her more freedom and more time in the day that she didn’t need to spend bedridden and in pain. Maybe she even loves her mobility aids now and she decorates her cane with stickers and puts lights on her wheels and her sister’s friends think it looks so fucking cool that she couldn’t think it was dumb if she wanted to.
I think she probably has a hard time with food too. Sensitivities to things she was perfectly fine with before because it’s just Too Much for her body now after having been kept in the bubble. Maybe she even had an ng tube after she got home and realized she couldn’t physically eat enough to sustain her recovery. Maybe Jawbone replaced the tape on her cheek with a butterfly sticker that is made for kids and it might’ve been a little too soon for him to have made such a fatherly gesture and she tore it off her face and yelled at him to leave her alone but then he left her the box with the rest of the stickers and she realized he was just trying to be nice to her and maybe he really isn’t so bad.
Maybe Jawbone and Adaine go to all of Aelwen’s doctors appointments and make sure that she’s keeping up with her physical therapy and they drink all the weird calorie dense protein shakes her nutritionist makes her try and maybe she takes the bad kids clothes shopping with her to help her find outfits that look cute but don’t have weird gaps in the chest when you’re standing above her and she’s in her wheelchair.
Maybe Aelwyn Abernant is disabled. Maybe she feels guilty claiming the label because yesterday she didn’t even use her cane at all and her knees barely hurt. Maybe the preppy cheerleader Aelwyn Abernant who didn’t know what the word disability meant before facing it herself had a really fucking hard time learning to accept herself as a disabled adult with a dead dad and a sister who should hate her. Maybe Aelwyn cries herself to sleep because she feels bad that she’s mad that her body doesn’t work the way it used to because she’s learned to be proud of her disability and she feels like a hypocrite wishing she wasn’t in pain every fucking day.
Maybe Aelwyn Abernant has deeply complex emotions and really cool AT and a loving family and a huge group of supporters and maybe she even has an online blog where she talks about it all

The Eyes of a Pigeon
For nearly three summers, four human kids visited the abandoned school. The school wasn’t dangerous. Sometimes,  I would fly above the worn building, but it was difficult since it was a very tall building. The school was surrounded by tall grass fields a long, long way from any other buildings. Once when it was really cold, some guys with bright hats tried to knock down the school, but the kids gathered a bunch of other kids and they staked out in the building for nearly two nights, stopping the glowy guys from taking away the building.
The kids would go to the school almost every day around the middle of the day when the bright sun would cast an orange kind of glow on the blue right above. There were two boys and two girls. One of the boys would always bring small cans filled with color and after excessive shaking, he would point it at one of the walls and cool drawings would appear. Another boy in this crazy chair with wheels, would always be staring at these stacks of paper that were somehow bound together. One of the girls wore lots of shiny gems and would sometimes help the boy with the color cans, but she would usually be playing with scraps in the building, occasionally picking flowers or weeds. The other girl would pick up a rusty pole and jump around singing songs while dancing wildly.
They were shorter last year. In fact they were very different from this year. The boy with colorful cans only brought a tall bottle of stinky liquid now. Even if the smell was unpleasant, the boy still drank it. The girl who used to pick flowers, only slumped into a dusty pillow, sometimes rolling some weird looking leaves into a little brown paper, sometimes holding the rolled paper up to her mouth and breathing smoke. The other girl who sang loudly, now sat in one place most of the time, her hands wrapped around her legs that were pulled up to her chest. Small tears rolling down her rosy cheeks. Something was wrong with them.
It especially started falling through when the second boy stopped showing up. I stopped hearing the turning circles of his chair after summer of this year. The kids slowly began showing up less and less as soon as the leaves changed to a different color and the air got colder. On days they wouldn’t show up, I began to think they would never come back. Then they showed up individually.
The boy would throw things around and break the windows that weren’t already broken, yelling words that I’ve heard mothers tell their children not to say. The girl who breathed smoke would only go there sometimes to ramble to air about how it ‘wouldn’t approve of her smoking’. Before any guilt can settle her features, she would laugh dryly before mumbling ‘but you’re dead’ and then falling asleep soon after. The girl who cried would go to the old school and only ever cried. Her beautiful hair was always tangled and her porcelain face was redden and drenched in tears. Pain filled her voice as she screamed into the wind things I could never experience and would never want to. I would try to coo to calm her down and sometimes it helped, but sometimes her cries were too loud.
It broke my little heart every time I saw them be so different from when they were shorter. It was like they were completely different kids. Maybe they are. Are they? Are they different children from last year? Well, what happened to the other ones? No, no, these are the ones from last year. Because the boy used the last of his color cans to paint the other boy’s wheelchair that was empty of the boy who always sat in it. Because the girl bundled the last flowers she picked into a bouquet wrapped in a black transparent fabric. Lace, I think she said? Because the tear-stained girl sang a sad song to the fields.
I was flying across town one day. I had just been bitten on the leg by a stray dog. He was skinny and looked hungry and if it didn’t end with me dying, I would’ve stayed and helped him find food. My leg hurt and I felt whatever I had eaten early coming back to exit my mouth. I swallowed it back down and kept flying even in pain.
I flew to a familiar place that usually had a familiar smell; freshly baked bread. It came from the window of a small room in a tall building. I flew to the window that was cracked slightly open, not enough for me to fly through. Everything seemed normal except for the fact that there was no fresh bread and no one in the small room. An older woman, however, burst through the door, wailing and screaming. An older man rushed in after her and held her tightly as she slowly fell to the ground. Both of the people were familiar because they were the same people that were with the girl with the pretty voice every morning and every night. Except the girl wasn’t here. Hopefully nothing terrible has happened to her.
I pushed off the ledge with pain and began flying again. The sun was barely setting behind the old building so the kids should be at the abandoned school now. I took two lefts and a right and before I took another right and passed the clean school where the kids went almost everyday too, I saw a lot of bright lights. Red and blue flashed rapidly and my mind hurt a little bit. I moved to get a better look at the unusual activity and almost crashed into a window. Kids were crying and more were shaking. I cooed a little in hopes of the crying to stop. Like times before, it did nothing. Before I could fly away, I noticed a familiar face. Two scary men were hauling out the boy that had colored cans. But now his hands are colored and stuck together behind his back. His eyes were tearstained and he looked so sad. So sad.
He got shoved into the back of a box with wheels that flashed red and blue. He didn’t come back out after a second. And another second. I didn’t realize until later that was the last time I would see him. I flew up towards the orange up above and began making my way to the old school. The wind felt colder tonight. My feathers didn’t do me mercy like all the times before. I kept flying all the way to my destination. When I got there, only one kid was there. The girl who breathed smoke. She held the little magic stick in her hand as she sat against a wall. I fought against the silly little voices in my head, and flew down through a broken window. Landing a couple feet from the girl, my leg burned with pain. The girl looked down at me with glassy eyes and smiled softly.
“You hurt, bud?” She muttered, reaching her hand out to me. I flinched and shuffled back a little. She looked at me sympathetically before putting the little stick between her fingers up to her mouth and breathing more grey smoke.
“It’s okay. I ain’t gonna hurt you. I have no reason to. My friends are gone. I’m gone,” her voice was shaky and it looked like she might cry, but she never did, “I’m leaving this town. And all my memories with it. Including them.”
She breathed and looked toward the entrance of the school that had no doors. You can see tall grass for a long time. I cooed softly. She let out a dry chuckle without looking away from the field. She sniffed and I could see tears threaten to spill from her eyes. Nothing fell though. No tears ever fell since the air got colder and the others slipped away. She needed to cry, but she never did.
“I really wish we can go back to being little kids,” she muttered. Her voice cracked and she sniffled again. Some sort of darkness covered her features. Suddenly that same dark feeling pulled at something inside my chest. I had no idea what it was but it didn’t feel well. I wanted to make things better, but there was nothing I could do.
After that dark day, I never saw any of the kids again. I spent many warm summers and cold winters going to the abandoned school, hoping they came back. I spent too many summers and winters, pretending they would come home. It hurt my chest each and every time they didn’t show up. They were gone and, after a long time, my leg stopped hurting. So did my chest. I felt happy. I flew, now, above the orange and blue. The air was no longer cold nor dark. I stopped worrying about the kids and the abandoned school when the boy in the wheelchair told me everything was okay.

Just Stuff About Wally's Voice Actor in my Story (I saw someone say they were starting to like them so I decided to write this)
I kinda dropped a bucket of paint on their head so here's my apology for their new concussion/other possible damage. Get well soon, Wally VA!
🎙️ If people haven't noticed, already, I have written it so that most characters are gender neutral and don't have names. That's because I like to give the reader as much imagination as they want when it comes to stories about pre-existing fandoms, plus characters like puppeteers, producers and such might be introduced into the cannon story. I figured it would make sense to keep them as kinda mysterious figures. So, everything in this post is just for my little story I have going on and how I imagine them. Two main things are that, in story, I am always going to try to keep them nameless and genderless, just because I feel that is the most interesting part of their mystery, but this post will be what I imagine when I write. If you want me to use this specific version of them, just let me know by referring to Wally's voice actor by the name I use in this post. OwO
🎙️ Some basic information is that Wally's voice actor is a man named Caesar Jones. He's in his late middle ages and has two kids. He has arthritis, although, the doctor's haven't figured out exactly what type it is, yet. His wife divorced and left the family on good terms, and they still keep in contact.
🎙️ He is very protective over Wally because they created him. He is scared that, once someone else is puppeteering Wally and (eventually) voicing him, the character of Wally will change and become unrecognizable to him. No one knows Wally better than his creator. At least, that's what Caesar thinks. It's actually the only reason why he doesn't like the reader in the story.
🎙️ He is a smoker, but makes sure to always go outside to smoke. Even when he is in an area that allows him to smoke inside, he goes outside. He has even gone outside in borderline blizzard conditions. Ever since he had his two kids, he makes sure to keep them safe. What started the habit of him going outside was when one of his kids started coughing from the smoke.
🎙️ He uses a wheelchair when at home. He doesn't need it all the time, but he uses it at home so he can give his knees and ankles a break after work. He bought it with his own money, as a "self-birthday-gift", AKA he bought himself a gift for his birthday. He also believes it will help slow down any joint damage he might have from his arthritis. A part of the reason for the contract the boss made between Caesar and the reader, the one that keeps them both updated on the other's health in emergencies, is that Caesar will stay home on days where his pain is especially bad. So, in those cases, he sometimes has the reader visit his house to rehearse for episode recordings.
🎙️ He doesn't know it, but he actually has a mixture of both arthritis and carpal tunnel in both wrists. He got diagnosed with arthritis and just assumes that the numbness and carpal tunnel symptoms are from the arthritis.
🎙️ Some aspects of himself have made it into Wally. For one, both Wally and Caesar have a deep desire to preserve the wonder and imagination of children. Caesar believes that wonder is what makes a person special, because it fuels the imagination. Nobody really imagines things the same way, right? Wally believes that, too.
🎙️ Caesar is interested in cults, especially religious ones. He, himself, is religious. He isn't extremely so, only really doing the bare minimum of his religion's practices, which is exactly why these cults intrigue him. He couldn't imagine bringing any of his beliefs to such a severe degree. The thought scares him. Wally, in a way, also has that trait. Except Wally is more like a little cultist, himself! With no knowledge on what a 'religion' is, though, he has unknowingly turned to you as the core of his belief. All of the obsessive, worshipping, and overall cult like behavior that Caesar researched about went straight into Wally.
🎙️ He is actually a very progressive person for his time. He doesn't care what gender or sexuality identify as, nor does he care about your racial background. As long as you respect him, he will respect you. If you interest him and he wants to get to know you better, he will approach and talk to you. It is all the same to him. People are people.
🎙️ He's a hard cookie to kill, so he probably survived that paint can. I always imagined that it hit the back of his head, which is where the part of the brain that controls sight is. He probably has some damage there, which can cause hallucinations.

Heyy 👋 can i request Chubby!Levi Ackerman x F!reader if it’s possible ? And thank youu ❤️!!
Tumblr media
(It took me SO LONG to find a plot for this! Anyway, Hope you enjoy!)
Chubby!Levi x F!Reader: Pudgy is Okay
~Normal POV~
Three years after the Rumbling had ended, the Eldian heroes’ had gone their separate ways. Armin and his group were currently on a ship heading to Paradis Island to visit Mikasa at Eren’s grave, as Levi stayed behind with Gabi and Falco to help the volunteers feed and shelter the remaining survivors. Although wheelchair-bound with two missing fingers and a blind eye, Levi was currently passing out candy and sweets to the children at the refugee camp. Once the box was empty, he wheeled himself back to his tent, indicating that he was done for the day since the sun was starting to set over the horizon. His mind wandered back to the events of the war as he rolled down the smooth dirt path, not watching where he was going until he bumped into someone’s leg with the chair’s footrest.
“Ow!”
Levi blinked back to reality and rolled backward as the woman in front of him knelt to rub at the spot he had hit. “Are you ok? I wasn’t paying attention…”
“Yeah, I’m fine…,” she spoke until she turned to face him.
His functioning eye widened a bit at the sight of her, utterly surprised to see her again from his first time in Marley with Hange and the others. It was when Eren and the brats decided to drink with the Romans after one of the kids had taken Levi’s money. He had spotted her sneaking blankets to several tents as if she was helping the people living in them. Even though she is a Marlyan. He didn’t catch her name that night, nor did he want to, at risk of getting her into serious trouble. So, he kept his distance and just watched as she did her thing.
The woman’s eyes scanned him down before tilting her head a bit to the side. “Have we met? You look familiar somehow…”
“Not officially. But, I think I saw you a few years ago. Sneaking blankets to the refugee camp?” he raised a brow, hoping his intuition was correct.
She blinked. “You saw that..?”
“I did. You did well in doing that. Risking your life for others makes you brave.” A minuscule smile tugged at his lips when he saw her cheeks go aflame. “The name’s Levi.”
“I’m Y/n,” she smiled a bit. “Shall I help push you to your destination?”
Levi pondered the offer for a moment before giving a nod in response. She walked around to get behind him and grabbed a hold of the handles of the chair before proceeding to push him down the path. The walk was silent other than the distant chatter of people and children running about. She often glanced at his bandaged hand, noticing the missing digits as a frown made its presence on her face. She couldn’t imagine the hardship and sacrifice he endured for there to be a future for the world’s remaining population.
“Hey. My place is right here,” Levi pointed, snapping her out of her thoughts as she turned him to push him inside.
There weren't many possessions in the small space, other than a bed, chair, blankets, clothes, and a pillow. Although he probably had all of his stuff back on Paradis, he surely wasn’t planning on going back anytime soon. She noticed a small box in the corner with a fragile tea set sitting on top of it. Levi grunted as he slowly rose from the wheelchair to move onto the chair by his bed. Y/n helped by being his support, having him hold onto her arm so he wouldn’t fall over and injure himself any more than he was. He sighed as he got comfortable and looked at her.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. If I may ask, how did you get injured?”
“It’s a long story…,” he trailed off.
“I have time. Even though we’ve all heard the story of how the war ended, I’d like to hear your version of it.”
Levi looked at her in slight shock. No one had asked to hear his side of the story, though he wouldn’t blame them since they probably avoided him due to his scars. But her? She didn’t even hesitate to ask, nor did she show any reaction to his appearance. Gesturing towards his bed, he watched as she sat herself down next to him as he began to tell his story. From the day Paradis had discovered life outside the walls they hid behind, to the day the war had ended as she listened intently.
~Timeskip~
Months have passed and the refugee camp is slowly starting to become a village. Houses were being built, trees had been planted, the grass started to come back, and people were getting more resources like food, clothes, and spare blankets. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits and began to plan a small party for their massive milestone. However, Levi seemed to be in a sour mood the last couple of weeks while avoiding Y/n like the plague.
Y/n doesn’t know what had gotten into him and it hurt her deeply. One night, they were both in his new place having tea as they talked, and then the next morning, he completely brushed her off. It confused her to no end as to why he suddenly started giving her the cold shoulder. As the days went by, the more heartbroken she was becoming, for she fell in love with him. But he won’t even look in her direction anymore whenever she attempts to get answers as to why.
Y/n was making her way down the familiar path going back to her tent after helping the volunteers with food portions again, when she had stopped in front of Levi’s place. Her heart ached at the thought of him as she held back every urge to knock on his door, even though she wouldn’t get an answer from him. Swallowing a lump, she continued her walk until she spotted someone in the distance. And that someone being Levi due to the obvious object of his wheelchair being in sight. However, he wasn’t in his chair, instead, he was attempting to do pull-ups on a bar that wasn’t there before. She watched as he struggled to get his chin past the bar since it was probably straining the hand with fewer fingers.
He cursed as he lowered himself into his chair, sitting there in silence while his head hung low on his shoulders. Y/n frowned and made her way over to him until she was able to hear him scold himself for his failure.
“Fuck. At this rate, I’ll get even weaker and I can’t let that happen.”
“Levi…?”
Levi snapped his head up and blinked in surprise when he saw her. His eyes furrowed into his usual glare at her, making her flinch a bit as her frown deepened.
“What do you want?” His words were cold like ice.
“I… was walking until I saw you here. What were you doing?” She hesitated.
“It’s none of your damn business.”
His words stung, and here she was concerned for his well-being despite how he’d treated her these last few weeks. It wasn’t like he wanted to in the first place. He fell in love with the woman in front of him and had planned to tell her his feelings. However, that one morning he had gotten his usual check-up to monitor his still-healing injuries. And he had found out that he’d been gaining a bit of weight. He couldn’t do his usual exercises like he used to back in the Scouts due to his knee. So, the lack of movement and the foods he consumed in the three years had taken effect on his body physically. His muscles were nearly gone. He didn’t have that toned body he worked so hard to get anymore, he was practically pudgy now. Even his cheeks were rounder. He figured Y/n wouldn’t want that in her life. No one else he knew wanted that, saying it’d be too much for them.
So, he pushed her away and started acting cold towards her. It hurt him to do such things when she didn’t deserve it. But he had to do something about his weight, and he would just make her worry to death for pushing himself too much. Looking up at her, his breath nearly hitched when he saw her upset expression. She was on the verge of tears, and it was all his fault. Y/n turned her heels to walk away but Levi grabbed her hand to prevent her from doing so, forcing her to stay put but keeping her back to him so he wouldn’t see her cry.
“Y/n, I… I didn’t mean what I said…”
“If you needed space, you could’ve told me… instead you pretend I don’t exist or become mean for no reason…”
He could hear her voice crack as she spoke, tugging at his heartstrings more than they were. He gently tugged her back to him but she refused to budge. Levi sighed as he glanced over at the bar he was previously using.
“I’ve gained a bit of weight as of late… so, I’ve been trying to get rid of it so you wouldn’t have to deal with it since you’ve helped me so much..” he admitted.
“Why would I care…?”
Levi frowned at her response and tried to answer, but was cut off as she continued.
“Why would I care about your weight…? Have you ever stopped to wonder if I ever cared about how you look?”
“I…” he trailed off.
Y/n finally turned towards him as tears bubbled her vision. “I don’t care if you're muscular or if you're bigger than what you were before. I fell in love with you as a person, not your body. But that’s all you cared about and didn’t consider my feelings when you brushed me off.”
“Y/n…”
“I-I love you…. but you don’t return the feelings…” she sobbed.
Levi pulled her closer so he could bring her into his arms on his lap. The sudden move made her gasp in surprise as she looked at him through her tears. He reached up to cup her face with his hand, stroking her cheek with his thumb while wiping away the tears in the process.
“I do return the feelings.”
“But-”
He shushed her with a finger on her lips. “I love you.”
With that, he removed his finger and pressed his lips against hers. The kiss was surprisingly soft and sweet as her eyes fluttered shut, returning the gesture as she cupped his face in her hands. Levi sighed into the kiss while he held her closer to his body, his arms wrapped around her waist as he ran his hands up and down her back soothingly. When he pulled back ever so slightly,  he looked at her through half-lidded eyes as their breaths brushed against each other’s, which sent shivers up their spines.
“I do love you… would you mind spending the evening with me?” he questioned.
“Of course, Levi,” she smiled with rosy cheeks.
With that, Y/n carefully got up off his lap, aware of his weak knee, and walked around to grab at his chair's handles to push him to their destination. Levi watched as he rolled towards his home, glancing back at her now and then to make sure she was alright. Catching his gaze on her, Y/n looked down at him and smiled before getting to his front door. Levi watched as she opened his door and pulled him through the doorway backward. Once the front door closed, Levi rolled himself through the house, making her follow him until they got to his bedroom.
It was getting late, so Levi decided to get ready for bed a bit earlier than usual. Y/n watched as he got into his dresser and pulled out a t-shirt and a pair of pants then set them on the bed. Her cheeks flushed when he started to unbutton his shirt. She went to leave the room but his voice stopped her in her tracks.
“Don’t leave… I… want you to see what you’ll be dealing with…,” he hesitated.
At that, she turned around just in time for him to slip his shirt off his body. No abs in sight, his arms more softer, and his face looked squishy at the cheeks. He had, indeed, gained some weight within the last three years, but that didn’t mean anything to her. He was still the Levi she grew to love. She stepped closer and cupped his face in her hands, watching them squish together as she did while he gave a pout. A blush crept up her cheeks at the reaction she got from him as he half-heartedly swatted her hands away.
“Stop that.”
“But it was cute~” she giggled.
“I am not cute,” he huffed.
Y/n just smiled and helped him out of his chair and onto his bed before helping him with his pants. Levi’s ears flushed as she did so, not used to anyone helping him, nor had anyone seen him with no clothes. When she saw the scar on his knee where a titan had bit him, a frown made its way onto her features as she gently traced the edges of the scar. A shiver ran through his spine from the feeling, hence that the injury was still sensitive to the smallest touch. When Y/n had finished helping him, she cupped his cheek once more, stroking under the eye he could not see out of.
“You’re still handsome to me, Levi, and your weight is not ‘something to deal with’. But if you still want to lose it, I will help and support you.”
He hummed at her words until he took hold of her hands and pulled her down onto the bed with him. He wrapped his arms around her waist while burying himself in her chest, letting out a sigh of contentment when he felt her fingers run through his hair until he started to drift to sleep. Y/n noticed his body had relaxed as his breathing slowed as she carefully shifted to pull a blanket over them both. Kissing the crown of his head, she too, began to fall asleep with Levi in her arms as she hoped for a bright and long-lasting relationship in their future.

Don't have Wattpad? Don't worry! Here's the entirety of Static Schoolhouse.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw it.
The last thing Lee remembered was getting in an argument with his mom and sisters over dinner that night. He blinked, and once he looked, he didn't see his family.
Instead, he saw a colorful building. It didn't have a name, but he decided to go in, phasing through the door in an odd manner.
He was greeted by a man in a wheelchair with brown hair, a blue hoodie and shiny, gray prosthetics.
"Hello?"
The man perked up and smiled. He looked like he was lonely before Lee appeared..
"Hey there! Uh.. Welcome to my school, I guess..! Go ahead and get two papers if you wanna get out, which I assume you do..."
Lee looked surprised, but he really wasn't. The man read his mind, somehow.
"Wow.."
"Wait- that's not the point. What's your name?"
Lee was curious, and he wanted answers and freedom.
"I'm Dave!"
Dave's smile was bright, and he looked excited to see someone. Despite that massive scar taking over the entire right side of his face, he seemed very kind.
Lee nodded and walked into one of the rooms to get a paper, but he noticed something on a desk.
A second paper, that looked like a diary entry.
He walked over to read it, even if it's wrong to read someone's diary.
"Day 1 Of The School. I'm confused, but I'm not exactly scared. I've been to other dimensions before, though, so once I get home, I'll research this. -Dave Walker"
Lee was surprised, but he solved an algebra quiz on the table and grabbed the paper.
Maybe one day he'll find out where he is...
Maybe…
He decided to get the paper, but he needed to solve a math quiz first.
It's easy enough! 5×3 is 15, 8×8 is 64, and 1+1 is obviously 2.
After that, he got the coin Dave gave him and headed to the detention room to see the posters he was told about.
"Let's see..."
There were seven posters for everyone in the school, but there were some blank ones on the floor.
Lee just decided to read them all in order, because it would probably make more sense.
The first one read:
Dave! Dave is a disabled twenty-seven year old man, who was burned too. He was the first to arrive, and takes the role of a teacher in the school.
"Alright.."
The next one read:
Garrett! Garrett is a fifteen year old kid who loves talking about animals. He's missing his right arm, but he's really smart. He was the second to arrive, but he gave up on the third paper.
The poor kid..
After that, it reads:
Spike is a seventeen year old bully. He's Garrett's older brother, and he's really rude. He gave up on the sixth paper, and he's confirmed that he really didn't care about leaving.
"He really didn't care? Weird.. I wanna get out of here, dead or alive!"
Lee's clearly confused and scared..
Moving over to the next one, it says:
Hall Monitor! Hall Monitor was the fourth to get here, and he's an alien. He's 34 and takes misbehaving children to detention. Also, he failed to get all of the papers.
These poor people..
Alrighty then.. Next up is.. A broom? Okay.. Fine..
Gotta Sleep is a sweeper, or "sleeper," as we call him. He's the perfect janitor, and puts people to sleep upon physical contact. He was the fifth to arrive, and he failed as well.
Welp, next up is- A DIAMOND??
Dear God..
Diamond Man is a fifteen year old diamond that hates being looked at. It triggers him, so we don't recommend staring at him for too long. He was the sixth to arrive, and he also failed.
This is getting weird..
Finally, we have- A robot? Really?
"What the hell..?"
PlayRobot is a fourteen year old robot who loves to play. She's wholesome and really nice, but she can easily get viruses, so don't use the USB Stick on her. She got here soon after Diamond Man, making her the seventh to arrive and the fourth to fail.
That's.. Odd.
"Okay, okay, fine. I'll get the papers. This place is insane, and I dunno what to do."
Way to state the obvious..
He ran out to the next paper, but something was weird.
The last question was just a bunch of scribbles and gibberish, so it was physically impossible to read.
Lee just put down 12 and walked away, but he heard screaming in the other room.
It was Dave, and he sounds MAD. His wheelchair started up loudly, and he started to chase Lee.
Run.
Lee dashed through the hallways, grabbing two notebooks on the way. He took a turn to the cafeteria, where he was met with four figures sitting at a table and talking.
He approached the four cautiously.
"..Hello?"
Three of them turn around, and the other just jumps. They're all staring at him, and as Lee takes a closer look, he realizes that those are the kids here.
Garrett, Spike, Diamond Man and PlayRobot.
Diamond Man looked a little mad..
"Why are you staring at us?"
"Sorry, I-"
Lee turned around, but he heard something.
It was Dave, and he sounded MAD.
Garrett jumped up and grabbed Lee.
"HURRY!!"
Spike, Diamond Man and PlayRobot hurried over to a vending machine and put in a coin, and Garrett ran after them, dragging Lee with him.
Then, the vending machine moved to the side and a small set of stairs and a hole in a wall that looks like a bedroom for four appeared.
This was a lot for Lee to process, and he just looked around in silence and the others screamed.
They leaped into the room and pushed the vending machine back.
"There. Now that that's over, we should introduce ourselves!"
PlayRobot sounded happy that there was someone new, but also a bit sad.
"I'm PlayRobot. And you are..?"
The original four kids stared at Lee, looking interested.
"Uh.. I'm Lee."
"Nice name. I'm K- I mean Diamond Man."
He slipped up? How could he forget his own name?
Due to pure confusion, Lee just nodded.
"I'm Garrett!"
Welp, he's clearly excited.
"I'm Spike."
His voice was almost monotone, and he was clearly bored.
"Cool.. Uh.. I heard that you guys found some papers. Do you think you can help?"
"Sure."
Diamond Man smiled down at Lee, and the five kids looked hopeful.
"Oh, just a heads-up, this place is insane. We think there's one more person here, but we don't know who, what or where they are."
Garrett sighed.
The five left the hideout and headed to the fifth paper, unaware of what was about to happen just hours later.
PlayRobot rushed out first, clearing the way for everyone.
"Alright everyone! The next paper is this way!"
She heads over to the next paper, smiling.
"Uh, hey PlayRobot? Are you sure this is the best way to go? Cuz I didn't make it this far, and-"
"Garrett, it's fine! Just trust me."
He nodded and stopped in front of the door. Why is he doing that?
"Maybe me and PlayRobot should stay out here and keep watch for Dave.."
"That's a great idea!"
PlayRobot seemed excited that Garrett would want to stay with her.
"Alright, well, me, the crystal and the new kid are gonna get the paper."
Spike seemed genuinely happy to get out of the school, even if his poster said that he didn't really want to leave.
"See you later!"
The three head into the class in an awkward silence.
After about ten minutes of arguing over math, a loud scream can be heard from outside of the classroom.
"WHAT THE HELL?!"
"LEE, CALM THE HELL DOWN!!"
"SHUT IT, CRYSTALFACE!!"
They run out of the room, and Spike and Diamond Man are pushing each other out of the way.
Oh dear God..
Looks like Garrett's gone!
"PLAYROBOT!! WHAT HAPPENED??"
"Listen, uh, Dave showed up with a USB, and Garrett tried to protect me! But Dave got him in the heart with it.."
For a while, it's just a moment of silence before Diamond Man starts sobbing uncontrollably.
That night, Lee snuck into a side room of the secret hideout and grabbed a briefcase entitled "TRANSFORMATION TAPES."
He slowly slid the tapes into the VCR and started watching the tapes.
What the hell?
As it turns out, Hall Monitor, Gotta Sleep, Diamond Man and PlayRobot were once humans.
The tapes show them returning to Dave with seven papers, before they turn into their current forms.
Dear God..
Lee just tried to ignore it and go to bed.
The next day, Diamond Man got out of his bed and headed over to Lee, with the spots under his eyes being shinier than usual due to crying.
"..Hey."
Lee was curled up next to the TV with a blanket and pillow.
"I assume you saw the tapes?"
"Yeah.."
Diamond Man walked over to put his jacket on, still looking sad about Garrett.
"Listen, I know you didn't Garrett for a while, but I've known him for 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴, and he was my best friend."
"Sorry about your loss.. Y'know, I'm sure if we hurry up, we can get out of here faster!"
Diamond Man just nodded and walked over to the others to wake them up.
After a few minutes, they were ready to go.
"I think we should go to the west wing first."
"Shut it, AI girl, before I throw you halfway across the school."
"Okay then!"
Spike ran out into the hallway, but got taken to detention after screaming.
"There he goes.."
"Lee, I don't think now's the time.."
Diamond Man looked down at PlayRobot after she said that, then froze up as he heard Dave.
"Hurry!!"
He ran forward, but he fell, shattering as he did so.
"OOOWWWWWWW!!!!"
PlayRobot and Lee looked mortified as they stared down at him.
"ARE YOU JUST GONNA STARE OR ARE YOU GONNA HELP ME??"
Lee hurried up and picked him up, and he looked like he was in extreme pain.
"God.. I dunno if I'm gonna make it.."
"Diamond Man, don't say that! You're gonna be fine!"
PlayRobot looked hopeful, but Diamond Man looked like he was losing hope.
"I miss being Kyle.."
The other two looked confused.
"..What?"
"Yeah, who's Kyle?"
Diamond Man sighed and looked up at the others.
"Listen, my name isn't really Diamond Man. It's Kyle. I don't wanna be here anymore. I wanna go home. The last thing I remember is fighting my brothers, then blinking once and showing up here."
They go silent and look away.
"Listen, I just-"
"..Tell Spike that he's stupid for me, okay?"
He closed his eyes, and, well, kicked the bucket.
The other two stood up in pure silence and headed to the next paper, looking depressed.
The duo went to the next paper silently, steering their eyes away from each other.
"..That was weird, wasn't it?"
Lee let out a forced chuckle, but PlayRobot wasn't amused.
That's embarrassing..
"There's just one left. Good luck, you'll need it."
"We should go pick up Spike, shouldn't we?"
"Sure.."
PlayRobot dragged Lee over to the detention room and peeked in the window.
"How the hell did that happen?"
"What?"
She lifted Lee up to the window, and he sighed.
"First Garrett, then Diamond Man, and now Spike?"
They sighed and headed to the final room.
"Let's get out of here.."
Lee looked down at PlayRobot, his curiosity peaking.
"PlayRobot, I-"
"..I saw the tapes. You had every paper, but you didn't make it out of here. How do you think we're gonna make it out?"
PlayRobot sighed and fiddled with her fingers, playing a quiet song on her speaker.
"Dave always told us that someone special could free us. I was hoping that you were that someone.."
He nodded and wrote the answers on the quiz.
Suddenly, everything went red, and there was an unholy screech in the other room.
"GO, GO, GO!!!"
PlayRobot shoved Lee out of the room in a heavy panic.
"WE GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE!!! GET TO THE EXITS ON THIS SIDE, I'LL TAKE THE OTHER ONE!!!"
Lee didn't understand, but he nodded and ran to the exit.
Suddenly, the exit disappeared.
"WHAT THE-??"
"THAT'S NORMAL!!! I'LL SEE YOU LATER!!!"
She rushed over to the other side, and Lee was left alone.
He needs to hurry up and get out of there. There's a mental timer in his head, and he's running out of time.
Lee ran over to the next exit, and everything got more red as it disappeared.
"WHAT THE-???"
He ran all over the school, looking for PlayRobot.
Suddenly, everything disappeared, turning into an entirely white void.
"..Where?"
PlayRobot appeared next to him, and he gently picked her up to comfort her.
"Where are we? I've never been here before.."
After that, Dave and Gotta Sleep showed up.
"..Where am I?"
Dave mumbled.
"I dunno what's going on.."
Gotta Sleep started screaming, like normal.
Soon after, Hall Monitor spawned next to Dave while doing the Peter Griffin fallen pose.
"I don't understand, you guys. If you're all here, even Hall Monitor, who died, then where are Garrett, Spike and Diamond Man?"
As soon as Lee said that, the trio appeared in the middle of everyone.
"I'm back?"
"GARRETT!!!"
Diamond Man rushed over to Garrett, holding him close.
Spike pulled down his glasses just to show an eye roll.
"I thought there was someone else.."
Soon after, a glitchy, black and red stick figure showed up.
"..Dad?"
"Wait, Diamond Man, that's your Dad?"
"Shut up, Garrett.."
He walked over to the figure, and they turned around.
"..Who?"
Diamond Man clinged onto the man, and it hit him.
"Oh, Kyle! It's you! I've been in that damn room for four years straight.. I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you.."
Diamond Man nodded, completely lost in his thoughts.
"Hey, Garrett? Who the hell is Crystalface hugging?"
Spike asked this, sounding like the jerk he is.
"Oh, that's Null. He's Diamond Man's Dad, and he's really nice. I only met him once though.."
He nodded and looked at the two.
Suddenly, there was a rumble that echoed throughout the void, and the inhuman characters had an explosion-like forcefield around them all.
After a few seconds, everyone but Null are their human selves.
"..Allie? Is that you?"
Diamond Ma- Sorry.. Kyle looked over to PlayRobot, who looked like a wholesome fourteen year old girl. (Lucky..)
"..What's going on?"
Kyle looked around, seeing what everyone used to be.
Hall Monitor, or Mike, looks like a middle-aged researcher or scientist.
Gotta Sleep, or Andrew, looked middle-aged as well, but instead he looked like a janitor.
PlayRobot, or Allie, well, you already know.
And Kyle? He's a fifteen year old with a diamond necklace and snow jacket.
Lee walked over to everyone, smiling.
"Thank you, really."
Allie smiled at him, and even Spike smiled for once.
"No, Lee. Thank 𝘺𝘰𝘶. I know that my poster said that I didn't wanna leave, but I hate it here. I wanna see Junior one more time."
Garrett smiled up at Spike, and a portal opened.
Mike sighed.
"I guess it's time to go."
Andrew kept a blank face and walked in with Mike.
Spike backed up.
"SCREW THIS PLACE!!! I'M SEEING MY LITTLE BROTHER AGAIN!!!"
He charged into the portal, headbutting the wall of his room.
Dave looked over to Lee, looking grateful.
"Lee, thank you. Five years of being stuck in a school with no one but kids, an alien and a broom without your family can really do something to a person."
He slowly wheeled into the portal, smiling uncontrollably.
Now, all that's left is Garrett, Allie, Adam, and Lee.
Garrett sighed, looking a bit sad.
"I guess it's my turn.."
He hugged the other three tightly, tears flowing out of his eyes.
"Goodbye.."
He turned back to the portal and jumped into it, landing next to Spike, who was hugging their little brother, Jr.
Allie looked at the other two, smiled, waved and left.
Kyle started sobbing again, fidgeting with his necklace.
"I'm finally gonna go home.."
"Goodbye, Lee."
He jumped into the portal, smiling.
"Bye.."
Lee sighed and smiled. He wasn't here as long as the others, but he hated it there.
"Goodbye, you stupid school."
He jumped into the portal, and it closed.
There was no return, and he was happy.

damian: 2,4, 6, 8. babs and cass: 2, 4,6 , 8 , 11
2 Favorite canon thing about this character?
ahhh this one is gonna be so hard to think of. I mean in like all 3 cases it's "their personality" but XD Trying to get more specific than that
Damian: the gradual-ness of his character arc and how realistic his reaction to suddenly being asked to change how he does everything is written. Damian changes his behavior (no longer killing people) long before he changes his beliefs (it's OK to kill some people). We also see how he understandably cares about saving civilians long before he cares about preserving villains lives which makes sense both from a 'duh' perspective and from a 'logically damian would be raised to believe that he's saving the world' perspective.
I also like the general rough edges his character has, like even long after he's become very conventionally 'moral' I guess (like in Robin: Son of batman where he's like undeniably heroic and trying to make up for every bad thing he did) he still doesn't come across as super conventionally 'nice'.
Babs:
Her self isolation and bad-decision making tendencies have me captivated.
ok /j but :P I love how independent she is and how she responds to trauma and how we see her incredibly reluctant to reach out to people around her. I love when she approaches problems from a nexus of control even though she would hate it if people approached her problems from that POV.
She's a fun character who often does make missteps in her personal relationships but nevertheless always tries to correct them
Cassandra:
Cass I love her perfectionism and the way she approaches her problems. even though I mentioned in Damian's answer that I loved how gradual his character arc and un-learning assassin stuff was, I also love how sudden Cass leaving Cain was*. It works completely for her characterization.
Then the way she approaches her problem (of having killed someone) is completely all-in cass-y. Cass is trying to grapple with what she did as a child (and I saw some really convincing meta about how the guilt she felt from killing the guy was not necessarily due to seeing his pain, as she'd seen pain before, but due to not understanding his death, i'll dig it up soon: EDIT FOUND IT (link)). Her thing is very simple: she killed someone so she deserves to die. She won't kill herself, but she has very little regard for her own life and is perfectly fine going out saving people. and the way she approaches her guilt pre her Shiva arc often goes from a kind of projecting on people I think (where she projects her own guilt on the guy she breaks out of death row when the mother of his victim approaches her, she gives him back to go to his death, she returns a kid to her mom who is exploiting for her talents rather than her criminal father who loves her) and then when she's dealt with her own guilt she can address people in a way that does not quite have that specter of guilt hanging over her.
*tho important note: I don't think that Cass leaving Cain was her character arc, it's a backstory detail
4: f you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
I would put them all in a well-adapted live action movie so more people know about them :P Unless this is like straight up drop them into an already existing fictional universe, it's unclear. Like I like thinking of a 'Batfam as Jedi' AU for one tumblr post for example, but I don't really care enough about 'characters in alternate universe' to need to see it in a fully developed story. A lot of what makes them unique and fun is specific to the universe.
6 What’s something you have in common with this character?
Babs: Self isolation. Also wheelchair using :P
Damian and Cass: General perfectionism
8 What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Damian: Either uwu baby-ifying him so whichever fave can take care of him and protect him at the expense of his canonical competence or acting like he's a terrible person and any time DC writes character assassination for him it was IC because he's always a terrible person.
Cass: forgetting she exists, having her there to just prop up Tim or Jason (Jason ???????), diminishing her competence to prop up some batboy and act like they can easily 'hack' her abilities.
Babs: babsgirl stuff. also people who remember with perfect clarity every jerk thing she hdid and use it against her t osay she's a terrible person (instead of just like. a realistic person with flaws) but conveniently ignore when their favorite batboy did similar things, oftentimes without even trying to make amends.
11 Would you date this character? (just babs and cass)
I would not date either of them sorry ladies. I love you but i'm already mentally ill I don't need more people's issues and emotional constipation

"Cancer, Sagittarius!” Three new, small voices shouted, cutting Ciara off. “Look at what we found!”
Cancer looked behind Ciara, Ciara turning around to look as well. The Gemini twins—Solana and Luna—and Leo came running in, Leo holding something in her small paws. As soon as they saw Ciara, they all immediately stopped, all of them seemingly trying to hide behind each other so Ciara wouldn't stare at them.
Ciara awkwardly waved towards the three kids. "Hi guys." The Gemini twins timidly waved back. Leo nodded her head, keeping her hands closed.
Cancer walked forward, her many legs kneeling down in order to look the trio in the eyes. "Whatcha got for me?"
Leo very cautiously opened her hands, revealing what was hiding inside. A vibrant purple butterfly was perched on her palm, its wings fluttering gently.
"Whoa," Ciara whispered, fearing if she made any loud noises it would fly away. Sagittarius nodded, impressed.
"Very beautiful butterfly, you three." He said, watching the butterfly crawl around on Leo's hand. Then he waved towards the door. "Now set it free. We wouldn't want to trap such a pretty thing indoors."
Leo nodded, and carefully made her way outside.
"Guys! Wait up!" Yet another voice said, approaching them. "Oop, pardon me, Leo. Guys!"
A girl, seeming to be around Ciara's age, rushed into the room. She had long, curly brown hair, and was pushing herself in using a wheelchair. "Oh. Who's this?"
Solana ran up to the girl, taking one of her hands. "Auriga, this is Ciara! She's a visitor from another Astral Plane!"
"She likes the butterfly we found!" Luna said, running up and taking Auriga's other hand. "And she also has a cool sword!"
Auriga nodded, looking up at Ciara. "Interesting. And what does Leo think about her?"
"I think she's cool!" Leo said, reappearing at the doorway. "Guys, we should show her the treasure trove!"
"That's a great idea!" Luna said, Solana nodding along.
The small lion Zodiac turned to Ciara. "Do you...do you wanna see my treasure vault?"
Don't trust her, don't trust her, don't trust Leo. Ciara's thoughts ran wild, screaming at her not to take Leo's outstretched hand, crying out, traitor, traitor, TRAITOR.
Despite the rush of blood in her ears, Ciara took the girl's small hand. "Yeah. Let's go."
"Bye Sagittarius!"
"Bye Cancer!"
"Have a nice time," Cancer said, waving cheerfully as the small group departed. Sagittarius nodded in acknowledgement before turning back to the pile of swords.
-
"So...what's it like where you're from?" Leo asked, gently swinging Ciara's hand back and forth as they walked. The twins were walking in front of them, chattering animatedly with Auriga.
"It's uh...well, where I'm from, the Zodiacs are kings and queens. Each of them rules their own kingdom and commands their own subjects," Ciara said, pretending that the threat of civil war and invasion from demons wasn't a constant, overhanging threat. After all, how would you explain such things to a child?
"Wow! I wanna rule my own kingdom!" Leo said enthusiastically. "What's your Leo like in your world? I bet he's super cool!"
"Uh—" Ciara stopped, stark-still. "Um."
Leo, Leo, Leo, oh, what happened to you? Where did you go wrong? Why did you have to do the things you did?
"Did—did I say something wrong?" Leo asked, glancing up at her worriedly.
"No, no," Ciara said, reassuring her. "Just thinking. His kingdom is centered around theater. He likes to put on plays and shows."
Leo gasped with glee. "Like Capricorn! He has a theater! Sometimes he puts on shows for us."
"I guess like that, yeah."
The small group stopped outside an enormous golden lion statue. In the center of its chest, there was a large stone door. Leo held up a finger before letting out the loudest roar Ciara had ever heard, seeming to shake her very eardrums. The statue's eyes glowed with golden light, and it echoed back the roar, destroying Ciara's ears even more.
The great stone door slid up, opening the way to a passageway sloping downwards. "C'mon!" Leo said, running through. The Gemini twins giggled and ran after her. Auriga wheeled herself behind them.
Ciara looked up, cautiously, unsure if the door would slam down on her the second she stepped through like a guillotine. She stepped over the threshold, and thankfully, she was not guillotined.
The passageway began sloping downwards, the group's footsteps echoing on the stone path. They kept going down and down, until the floor began leveling out.
"Whoa," Ciara said as they entered an enormous room, lined with shelves of jewelry and racks of weapons. There was also, inexplicably, an enormous pile of gold coins stacked in the back of the room. Everything seemed to radiate with golden light.
"What do you think?" Leo asked excitedly, as the Gemini twins oohed and aahed over the trinkets.
"So...shiny," Ciara simply said, awestruck. "I don't think we have anything like this, not even in Virgo's kingdom."
"Does your Virgo keep a lot of treasure?" Solana asked. "Our Virgo handles law stuff! Or something like that. Luna, do you remember what Virgo does?"
"Uhhh, she does the court cases?" Luna half asked, half said, shrugging. "A lot of boring adult stuff. Libra helps her."
"Law enforcement," Auriga said, placing a tiny crown on Solana's head and then doing the same with Luna. "She and Libra are the only overseers of justice in an...otherwise lawless land."
"Huh. Virgo and Libra actually don't talk that much in my world," Ciara said, picking up a stray gold coin and idly flipping it up into the air. "Usually, the earth Zodiacs and air Zodiacs don't like each other that much. Oh, except for Gemini and Virgo. They're like mother and daughter."
"Really?" Luna asked, looking up from the necklace she was fiddling with.
"What are we like in your world?" Solana asked, twirling a small bracelet around her finger. "What do we do?"
"Um. In my world, you're one person." Ciara sheepishly waved her hands back and forth, not quite knowing how to explain it. At the twins' confused looks, she elaborated further. "So, like, imagine you two, right? Smush your souls together. That's my Gemini. Two souls in one body. And the two souls combine to make one, bigger soul."
"Ohhh." Both twins nodded in understanding.
"And my Gemini's pretty awesome. She's like my big sister." Ciara fidgeted with the snake tooth necklace Gemini had made for her.
"I wanna meet her!" Solana said enthusiastically. "She seems so cool."
"There is a way to get from our world to your world, right?" Luna said, sitting up straighter. "After all, you're here, right? There's gotta be some way to travel between realms."
"Uhhh...we'll see." Ciara shrugged. I don't even know if there is a way to get these guys to my own realm. It was a miracle I even ended up here.
Luna pointed to Auriga, who was sitting in the corner and admiring the large stack of gold coins. "What about Auriga? What's she like in your world?"
"Auriga is Aquarius' younger brother, and her charioteer. I don't really talk with him, though. But he's a nice guy." Ciara squinted at this Auriga and the intricately designed wheelchair she was sitting on. "Is your wheelchair like your chariot? Cause that's pretty cool."
Auriga nodded. "Mhm! It can also go into racecar mode. I use it to roam around. But I also mostly rescue these rascals." She nodded towards the twins.
"Our Auriga's our companion constellation!" Solana said. "She's like our big sister!"
"Sometimes I feel like I'm your babysitter, if I'm being honest." Auriga chuckled.
"Noooooo! We love you!" Both twins scrambled over to give Auriga a hug, all three of them laughing.
"Leo? Leo? Oh, there you are!" A small voice shouted, heading towards them.
A smaller, paler lion was running down the passageway. He was wearing the thing Egyptian pharaohs wore—it was called a neme, which was one of the few pieces of information that Ciara retained from eighth grade world history—and he was carrying a tiny crook.
"Mini!" The tiny lion ran into Leo's arms, and she patted his head affectionately. "This is Leo Minor, but I call him Mini for short."
"Awww." Ciara was unable to stop herself from leaning forward and petting Mini's soft head. "So cute!"
"I'm not cute!" Mini pouted, looking up at Ciara. He barely came up to Ciara's waist, and looking at the small lion made Ciara laugh even more.
"I'm one of the main keepers of this vault!" Mini said, wriggling away from Ciara. "I'm very important!"
"Can you tell me about the relics in this vault then?" Ciara asked, genuinely interested now. She was a sucker for any relic infodumping.
"Ooh, I can!" Mini ran around on his stubby legs, pointing to the relics that were labeled. "These guys are actual constellations. This is Crater, the cup. And this is Caelum and and Sculptor, the chisel and sculptor's tools."
"Interesting. What about those two?" Ciara asked, pointing to a set of two crowns.
"Oh! That's Corona Borealis and Corona Australis, the southern and northern crowns! Very important, those two are."
"I remember those two!" Leo said. "Libra said that they used to be kept in the mausoleum until...something bad happened?"
"Someone stole something," Luna said. "Something important. A mirror, I think?"
"Urania's mirror," Auriga said. "Really important relic."
"I thought we moved the relics because they were getting corrupted?" Solana asked, confused now. "Not because they were getting stolen?"
"Corruption? Cassie explained that to me..." Gears began to turn in Ciara's head. "Wait...she said that corruption was caused by Void magic...Scorpio's somehow connected with Void magic...is that why you all don't like Scorpio? Cause he somehow messed up something important with his Void magic?"
Everyone stared at her.
"That...that sounds really similar to what the adults say," Leo said in a small voice. "All we know is that Scorpio did do something bad with his Void magic and now he spends all his time out in the Voidlands."
"What does he do there?" Ciara asked, her eyebrows drawing together.
Solana shrugged. "We don't know. Well, the adults do, but they don't tell us much about Scorpio and what he's looking for."
"I saw him go into the Voidlands with a bunch of weapons one time," Luna said. "I think he's doing some dangerous stuff in there."
"None of us know much about what Scorpio does," Auriga said. "He's...much of a loner. Some of the older Zodiacs have their suspicions about him." Mini nodded in agreement.
Ciara looked down at the coin laying in her palm. She clenched it in her hand, the pain helping to anchor her to reality.
She began to think that this world wasn't quite what she thought it was.

Ladies, gentlemen and enbans,
Meet my beautiful new second hand cane!
I've been procrastinating about buying one for a while with various foldable or footed ones in wishlists and today... there it was. and while I can't use it much due to the shoulder pain, it's already helped me stand in place longer than possible without it.
Sis saw a Facebook post about an indoor garage sale for today, within my walking abilities *but* up the hill (we live on one side of a three side "bowl" of foothills so technically everything is pretty much up or down but this hill is like 12 degree incline in parts)
I said I'd consider this adventure if we could do a trial run. So we made the trek with the dogs. Lily remembered that she could run, a huge yellow lab gave her a massive rock she was carrying in her mouth, there were acorns everywhere and a nice lil bridge at sitting height for us to stop and rest.
So today, we set out in the rain, minus dogs, to the unknown just a house with stuff for sale : would it be stuff left from a move, a death, just decluttering, expensive fancy stuff, kids stuff?
We arrived early (turns out dogs sniffing around takes up an extra ten minutes) and watched as half a dozen cars pulled up, which is wild. People are never early round here! guess the antiquing folks like to be there as soon as the doors open.
Two middle aged ladies ushered us all into their yard and then into the teeny tiny house to three rooms divided by a staircase, none of it seemed to follow geometry. Two daughters selling their mother's various collections to make space: mugs, books, vinyls, paintings, cat sculptures, silverware and lots of fabric findings. She had been a seamstress. There were tins filled with buttons, I would have bought some but knew I had to carry it home.
One seemed a little panicked after running around setting things down in the yard so I helped with a frame and asked how she was doing with all this and we chit chatted for a while. From what I understand at least one of the daughters is living there on a higher floor, the cats don't need rehoming and one had to be forcibly removed from a comfy nest in the fabric stash just before everyone arrived. 😁 They're doing ok but the clutter was overwhelming and they hoped some of it might sell and be taken away, simply, without third parties or listings. Quite a few of the furniture pieces got claims within the 45 minutes we were there so I think they'll be fine.
I saw the cane in a set of three at the entry to the yard within 20 seconds and I knew it was the one, it carried me through the rest of the visit in any case. Didn't ask about other medical equipment (Medical buyback doesn't give you much and buying from the medical shops is expensive so it's advantageous to all parties. I got my wheelchair for double the buyback from a dude who didn't need it anymore and it was less than a third of the price). But I get the impression she was fairly able bodied with maybe a little help walking only.
There was no sewing machine in sight so either it's gone to the daughters or it was sold for a lot more than today's low priced bits and bobs. I was kinda hoping I might get to witness an antique Singer in the footpedal desk or the square looking 70s Singer in the case when I heard the word seamstress - granny used to have both when I was little.
Clothes, shoes and grooming items were all missing too. The ladies might not be at the point where they feel ready for that yet. Maybe they needed the clutter 'space' to be able to do a more personal sort out.
So quite the adventure. I didn't get the "shop overload" because the lights and sound were normal, items were in boxes with the price per item or to ask (understood to be under 10€) no confusing pricing between washing liquids per wash, per litre, per kilo and special offer (aka what's the catch). It was cramped but no people megastress either so that was manageable.
I did start thinking about what we leave behind on the way home. Did chat a little with sis about our most prized treasures and how they're imbued with value that no one else would know about by just looking at them. We both felt a little gloomy over that so switched to talking about the types of person we'd seen.

You once mentioned in the Actor AU that Gil once broke his back with a particular dangerous stunt. What if an old footage of it got leaked showing how the accident happened where everyone can see clearly what a terrible stunt fall he took and how you can hear bones breaking? How he lays there unconscious and bleeding?
What if Thena and Gil come home from another interview and see how Sprite watches the footage and looks at them and suddenly starts crying and asking Gil how the hell he is alive after that??
I think it would be super interesting to see them both comforting her after such an angsty video!
As soon as Thena and Gil got in the door, they heard sniffling.
Thena dropped her purse and ran in, "Sprite?!"
Sprite was curled up on the couch, watching something on her phone, laid sideways and wrapped in the blanket. "Hm?"
Thena let out a rough sigh, dropping her head before glaring at her sister, "don't scare me like that, kid!"
"Sorry," Sprite mumbled, emerging from her cocoon and sitting up. "I found some old videos on a subreddit. Dude, I had no idea it was this bad."
Gil blinked as both sisters looked over at him, "me?"
Thena rounded the wide, white sectional to come and sit next to her sister, still in the dress Kingo had picked out for their interview. "What are you watching?"
Sprite swiped at her eyes again and handed Thena her phone, "footage emerged of Gil's old back injury--the one you said broke it. I...I dunno, I guess I didn't think it was that bad."
Gil tilted his head as he walked over, although he soon recognised the sounds coming from Sprite's phone. "Oh, yeah."
Thena was horrified as Gil, on the screen, fell, his bones snapping loudly. He curled and rolled in agony, screaming from the pain. She put her palm over the screen, "Sprite!"
"I was curious!" the younger shrugged in her defense, but pulled her phone back to her. "I didn't think it was that...brutal."
Gil leaned over the back of the couch, behind the two sisters. "Yeah, it was pretty bad. I couldn't do anything for almost two months."
"Gil, this is," Thena just barely glanced at the screen - of Gil's terribly bent spine - and rushed her eyes away again. "That's-"
"It was pretty extreme," he admitted, ruffling the hair on top of his head. He leaned closer to Thena, "are you okay?"
"Are you, dude?" Sprite asked him more loudly, "holy shit, you got broken like a pretzel rod!"
"Sprite!"
He chuckled, though. The sullen teen had her ways of expressing worry and compassion and feelings. And that way was usually with profanity and wildly inappropriate statements. He ruffled her hair, "it's okay, kid. I'm fine now."
But Sprite regarded him with his held out hands and shrugged shoulders and pursed her lips. "There were rumours you were never gonna work again. I remember when the pictures of you in the wheelchair first hit--it was a big deal!"
Thena eyed her sister, not usually emotionally expressive.
"This video is totally different! I thought you died!--it sounds like you could have!"
Gil sighed, also coming around the other side of the couch and tugging off his tie. He sat down next to Sprite on the other side. "Okay, you wanna know the full story?"
Sprite nodded.
"It was bad," he admitted first and foremost, looking at Sprite and then Thena. "It was a pretty severe injury to my vertebrae, they had to do surgery, and they did tell me that they were unsure if I would walk again, let alone if I could ever work again after that."
Sprite teared up again.
"The surgery went well, I had to do some physio. I did have to use a wheelchair to get around for six weeks, but with that and my physiotherapy we saw...improvements."
"Improvements?" Thena asked skeptically, even knowing how well he had come out of it now in the present. She subconsciously rubbed Sprite's shoulder, who accepted the rare instance of affection.
"Improvements," he repeated with a chuckle. "Walking was going well, they gave me a walker, although I never used it in public. I went right from the wheelchair to a cane, just practising walking at home. Eventually I could jog a little again, and then we were able to start water aerobics and now...I'm back to normal, for me."
Sprite just stared at him, "bro."
Thena shook her head, even as a fellow actor and someone not exactly estranged from stunt work. "I mean, Gil, you were incredibly lucky."
"I know," he nodded gravely, not making light of the feelings in the room, "I know that. I try not to take it for granted when I think about it."
"Bro!" Sprite said again, poking him in the arm, "I watched the video of you getting bent like a paperclip. I'm surprised you came out of it at all."
He sighed. "You're right, it's rough. I can't believe this video is even on here."
Thena refused to look at it again. "The internet is a cesspool of this kind of thing."
Gil looked up at her with an attempt at a smile, "hey, I'm okay, though."
Sprite elbowed him, her voice dropping lower, "it's not funny, dude. You were, like, really messed up."
Gil ruffled Sprite's hair again, a gesture she had yet to allow for anyone else in the world. "Thanks for worrying about me, kid."
Sprite rolled her eyes, giving him one last affectionate little swat against the arm. "Whatever, man, I'm just glad you're not all scoliosis-ed anymore."
"Sprite," Thena sighed again. If only she had tact herself to teach to her ruffian sister child. She looked at Gil with a softer expression, "is seeing that video hard for you?"
He shrugged, making a face, "ah, not really. It was a long time ago. Guess I don't look that cool, though."
Sprite stood from between the other two on the sofa, deciding she was done with sharing. "You're already plenty cool. And hey, you came back from a one in a million injury! That's badass!"
Gil chuckled again as Sprite headed to the kitchen as she usually did, although she had taken the throw with her, "thanks, Sprite."
Thena watched her go with a sigh. So long as she was feeling better, that was technically all that mattered. She looked at Gil and scooched a little closer into Sprite's spot. "I've never seen the footage of it."
He shook his head a little in response, both of them half whispering and half watching Sprite like worried parents. "I didn't know someone had footage of it. Why it's coming out now--I have no idea."
"Someone must have unearthed it and decided it needed seeing," Thena grumbled and leaned back against the couch heavier. Sprite continued to root around in the fridge. She looked at Gil, "staying?"
For dinner, she meant. As if they ever really did much of anything without the other anymore.
"Sounds good," Gil agreed, also tired after their interview. Although dinner with Thena and Sprite could either mean ordering takeout or him cooking for them. "What do you-"
"By the way I ordered Chinese."
Thena looked over to Sprite. Sprite, who wasn't usually pro-active in stuff like that. "Thanks."
Sprite looked at them in what could almost be described as a sign of affection (it was about as affectionate as she ever got, so). "Whatever."
She was still Sprite, of course.

Chapter 9
After almost half an hour in the car Kevin spotted the farm in a sea of corn fields.
It was composed of multiple buildings, he noticed as the truck got closer, while Oscar drove along the dirt road.
He parked in the courtyard in front of the house where Oscar and his family lived, it was very big.
As soon as they stepped out of the truck a ginger woman stormed out of the front door "Oscar! Where the hell have you been!" She reprimanded the man.
She then saw the pastor and calmed down "Oh my, Oscar, you could have told me we had guests".
She then noticed Kevin too and added "and who is this kid?"
Oscar looked at Kevin "He's spending the summer here, you'll see him often, his name is Kevin"
Kevin held his hand out and the woman shook it energetically "my name is Maria, I'm oscars sister"
She then turned to her brother "let's make them come inside, we don't want them to catch a heat stroke"
Oscar nodded "follow me" he said, guiding the pastor and Kevin inside.
He led them to the living room where a man was watching the tv and an old woman sat in a wheelchair with her eyes closed.
Oscar walked up to the woman and put a hand on her shoulder, she opened her eyes, looked at him and smiled.
"Oscar, bello di nonna, dove sei stato? " she then looked at Jonah and added "vedo che hai portato il tuo amico".
"Ero a fare una cosa, c'è stato un imprevisto e ora Jonah starà da noi per il pomeriggio" he explained
Oscars grandma smiled, then the man who was watching tv started talking "son, i just picked up Clarabelle from school, she's very upset but won't tell me why".
Oscar sighed "I'll go talk to her" he then turned towards Kevin and Jonah "you two have a stroll if you'd like, it's going to be a while".
He then disappeared upstairs, the two looked at eachother "I'll sit somewhere if it's not a problem, my leg hurts" jonah murmured.
Kevin nodded and made his way back to thr courtyard.
He turned the corner, evidently that was where they stored wood for the fireplace, there a dark haired man was chopping wood.
He seemed angry by how much force he was putting in it.
Kevin decided to leave him alone, he didn't like being around angry people.
He had just turned around when the man shouted "who are you?!" And started advancing, axe still in hand.
"I'm with Oscar!" Kevin tried explaining, but the man kept walking.
At that point he found himself running away as fast as he could "come back here you little...!" The man screamed, running behind him.
Kevin managed to make it inside and almost fell on Maria.
"What's wrong?" She asked, visibly worried.
"A man with an axe chased me!" He replied, at the same time the man entered.
When kevin noticed he froze.
"Piero! What are you doing scaring this poor boy" the woman shouted.
She then turned to Kevin "forgive my brother, he's got a terrible personality"
"Yeah, i had noticed" Kevin thought.
