#Red and Blue are doomed by the narrative

I freaking love red and blues small interactions with AK (KC)
It's just so cute how they try so hard to me normal and even let their guard down with AK
Yup lmao. Red and Blue getting sucked into the Stay universe forces them to have to leave their angsting back at home.
Right now, where they are, they can pretend not to have any baggage, for the sake of a little kid who loved them both in another, better, life.

yeah sun/moon and red/blue relationship dynamics are nice and all, but what about the relationship between two people who both know they're doomed by the narrative but whose reactions to this contradict each other and make them incompatible regardless of how much they might otherwise care for each other. what about the relationship between the person who begs the one they love to run away with them, hoping to escape the narrative together, and the person they love, who refuses to leave anyone behind or try to escape their fate without a fight.

we'll see how this changes now that the bolas have won their third event, but i've been thinking about qphil today.
I've been thinking about why qphil has been carrying the narrative of 'oh red team are honorable, bolas are such underdogs!!" since day one. what the reason for the hypocrisy is, and the seeming self-pitying.
In his first conversation with Etoiles since Purgatory began Day 3, Phil was asked why he's playing to win. His answer was that he wasn't playing to win, he was playing to survive. I don't need to get into Phil's whole hardcore mentality. We know it.
That same day, the Eye called them all sinners in a cinematic. Phil's immediate response? "I haven't been!" He'd been antisocial the whole time, hadn't taken any fights at that point. He hadn't been!
Now, days later, Red team are far more geared and competent. They have plenty of gear, a base the other teams two don't know about, and they have a strong team bond. How does Phil describe them?
"we're probably going to lose, green and blue are going to team up to kill us, bolas will have to be the underdog." That's not true! that's directly hypocritical!
But the thing is, if they're winning, then they're playing into the Egg's hand. They're sinning. So Phil's decided they're not winning. They're still barely getting by. He's still doomed. So of course he won't view any of this actions as sinning. How could surviving be at all something sinful??

So we have part 2 of stylized Cookies, pretty much all from today other than bird girls
I feel like I did better yesterday, but also I haven’t seen yesterday’s drawing since yesterday, so I don’t really remember if it was
I was planning on drawing the Hollyberry family, but because I got stuck on Jungleberry (I deleted her so you can’t see), that didn’t end up happening. Funny enough, I was also like “I have no clue what to do for White Lily and Pure Vanilla so they’re probably not gonna be drawn for a while”, but what got me to draw more today was ideas for White Lily, and Pure Vanilla came along later
To be honest, White Lily and Pure Vanilla probably still need some tweaking before I color them. I’m still not really sure what I’m doing with White Lily’s hair, and for Pure Vanilla I feel like I haven’t done enough outside of the eyes and the hat. Maybe it’s because I gave him an oval head? I wasn’t really sure what head shape to give him other than it not being one I already used
Speaking of their eyes, White Lily’s are supposed to be pink with white irises, and Pure Vanilla is supposed to have no irises, but solid yellow and blue. Which when I was drawing looked somewhat unsettling, which is funny because since I draw so many Cookies, that’s usually normal now
Also also, I now want to make a purelily kid that combines their features, aka White Lily’s half shadow face and Pure Vanilla’s small non iris eyes. They’d look like the comedy mask. And probably also somewhat like Shadow Milk
As for the Hollyberry family, I think Holly herself looks good, and the other two look alright. Princess probably needs more tweaking. I wanted to give them a running trait of not just dot eyes, but leaves in their hair. I’m thinking that every Hollyberrian has leaves in their hair, since they’re berries. I am struggling with Royal Berry and Princess’, since the best place to it their leaves is where they have something else, aka their crown and heart pins
To be honest I want to make it so that Princess is half berry half candy, so that maybe she could not have to have the leaves, but I like Jungleberry and don’t want to get rid of her or turn her into a candy, so oh well
I drew Red Velvet because I was struggling with White Lily and Pure Vanilla. I gave him a triangle head because someone somewhere on my first page said something about Golden Cheese having a triangle face because the Cakes, so why not give the half cake Cookie a triangle head as well?
Also with Red Velvet I definitely took liberties in redesigning him, like with the hair and horns, but I don’t think he looks necessarily bad? As least not by the end
I also drew him with Dark Choco because darkvelvet is a thing I know. Though to be honest, while I draw it, I’m not sure how much I like it. Like in theory I like it, it’s not bad, it’s just that I don’t think I get it. Like as far as I can tell they can only be doomed by the narrative because Dark Choco leaves, but maybe I’m interpreting Red Velvet’s character wrong. It’s been over a year since I watched his story. And also I’m not sure what draws people to the ship? Like darklico for example I can get for various reasons, but I don’t know about darkvelvet
Oh yeah, Licorice is here too. Forgot about that. Well I tried to make his head oval shaped because it’s sort supposed to look like a skull? Or a cartoony skull. Same with his eyes and mouth, they’re supposed to be somewhat skull-y. I didn’t draw his actual skulls though because I’m lazy and it’s a small drawing. I think he turned out pretty good though
I think maybe next page I should focus on more random characters outside of the Ancients. Maybe that’ll help the creative freedom
Anyways yeah, I think that’s it for now

“How long are you going to pretend?” you whisper, tracing the shadows the lapis lazuli-coloured fire casts across his face, sleek and wild and volatile in their density. “That this thing between us doesn’t exist? That I’m not hopelessly in love with you?”
Lucifer takes a hearty swill of the Demonus cradled in his hands. His eyes, lidded and opalescent red, connect with yours with the soft, lingering start of a violin solo in the background, and he tongues at the aftertaste of alcohol that lingers on his lips before saying, “Is this not enough? Being serenaded by my beloved music? Bearing witness to my delicate state?”
“What are you so afraid of?” You burrow deeper into the plush of the sofa, the conjoined dynamic heat of the fire, liquor and the outline of his body pressed against yours keeping your lips loose. “Death?”
"Only yours," he replies, voice deeper than usual. "Mine would be a miracle gone rogue.”
The cold of the floor has started to nip at your toes, seeping into sock and skin like algae embracing wet stone. The hearth sputters a burst of blue flame as if to soothe you. “Before or after mine?”
He answers in silence, loud and unsurprising. You shake your head and take a sip of your human poison to quell the uncertain thrill of your next words.
“...Do you, though?”
His eyes are frothing drops of blood in a sea of fire. They flicker infinitesimally downwards to your lips, then straighten, boring intensely into yours like a tantalizing still of the dawning sun that causes harm to the eyes yet coaxes the body to halt anyway.
“You know it.”
“And yet you dare not utter the words.” Disappointment unfurls in your chest like a weed in a flourishing farm.
He roughly pulls at his bottle, only to discover it light and empty. “Are you truly so greedy for those frail utterances to deliberately shy from actuality?”
"I'm only human," you spit, emptying your glass sharply, perhaps to draw attention to the liquor that evades his own flask. The subsequent burn in your throat then that seems to mimic the knot in your sternum comes across as irritating and deserved. "Spare me the condescension on days I grow tired of mute pining."
Lucifer swallows harshly, seeming to push down the words already half-formed on his tongue, setting his lacking bottle aside neglectfully. He abandons his seat and trudges towards his beloved liquor cabinet, plucking forth a bottle of Devildom whiskey which he then uncorks with his teeth and takes a burning swig from. The muscles of his shoulders, clad in his regular black shirt, are bunched from sitting in a cruel wooden chair gazing at papers all day. He lingers by the cabinet for a long while, head turned left to stare in a reverie at the creamy Devildom moon looming beyond the glass windows of his office, a psychedelic rock-esque orchestral piece providing the soundtrack for his musings. The hand clasped around the fresh bottle remains limp by his side, the neck tilted at a dangerous axis.
When he turns, there is an expression of resolution in his eyes. He rests the bottle carefully on the farthest edge of the table and kneels by your socked feet. You straighten in surprise, the sudden movement disorienting to your inebriated senses, and stare at the odd image of him there.
"What are you doing?"
He clasps a hand of yours in his and tugs it towards his lips, feathering upon your knuckles a sweet kiss, then presses the back of it to his forehead, where his black diamond might shine if he were to switch to his more primal form. It seems the thought of it occurs to him too for there's a gust of air that buffets you, two massive raven wings unfurling and curling around your lonesome figure, and the mass of his horns emerging to face you at an exposed incline.
He does not look up as he speaks, voice hazy with an encompassing mixture of regret and realization, "I did not say it, perhaps because it was I who lost sight of actuality within the confusing folds of past and future. You're here, you're real, and though you might say that you shall stay forever we both know you lie. We've wasted too much time already and I apologize for how much of that is a fault of mine."
Lucifer raises his head, his eyes just the littlest bit shiny, and slides your palm to rest over his chest, his beating heart a staccato of vulnerability and discomposure.
"Would you go on a date with me, my love?"
It takes a few moments worth of weighing the significance of the scene that has unfolded before your very eyes before the words come bubbling out of your parted lips:
"Yes. Yes, always."
He shifts forward, retracting his wings and horns and nudges his head into your lap. "Do not worry, I'll ask you again tomorrow."
"The answer will remain the same, Lucifer." You entangle your fingers in his silky black strands, bending over to press a kiss to the naked skin of his nape. "I would love to go on a date with you."
He smiles then, partially hidden by the turn of his head. If he circles a hand around your waist to trace a vague symbol against your lower spine and doesn't detangle from the heat of your body for the next fifteen minutes, then it's no one's business but yours alone.

Oh, you have black hair and blue eyes? You also have a white hair & red eyed companion? Where you two are foils of each other, are at odds with one another but chose to stay together, have an earth shattering fight where you both almost kill one another but ultimately don't, and are both doomed by the narrative?

Bracket B Round 1
Poll 24
Simon Harrington (@dyson-the-vacuum) vs. Finch (@miketon)
111. Simon Harrington (@dyson-the-vacuum)
he/him
Simon is the single father of like, nine kids. Went the mad scientist route and achieved immortality via pact with dead god and has the most badass looking scar you have ever seen. He created an off brand SCP Foundation just because he could. I could go on for years about this man. I made a villain and woobified him myself.
Simon is roughly 5'4", he has black wavy hair that comes down to his shoulders. His eyes are heterochromatic, the right being green while the left is blue. Unfortunately this is hard to see, as he has a large and deep scar across his right eye that reaches from his forehead to the base of his neck. He wears the traditional sexyman suit when he's not being a mad scientist. When he is, he wears traditional mad scientist clothes. His design is sometimes inconsistent, but that description has all of the consistencies. As you'll probably see in the images, his scar was only across his cheek and seemed to be stitched, and his outfit changes sometimes.
112. Finch (@miketon)
She/her
Finch is my BABYGIRL she's soo pathetic and traumatized. What if SHE'S doomed by the narrative. She had a bestie but then she exploded her bestie with fireworks while under the influence of a fucked up disease that made her worship hell and now her ex bestie hates her. She had a wife but then her wife suddenly divorced Finch and told her she never loved her, and Immediately Died Afterwards before Finch had the time to process anything. Also she has issues with BOTH her parents !! Now Finch has to deal with her wife being dead, her bestie hating her, her girldad trying to kill her, AND a lot of guilt from while she was infected with hell worship disease!!!! Shes my babygirl im obsessed with her. also shes a minecraft OC. AND shes a lesbian
Finch has pale skin and short ginger hair tied up in a bun. She has scars on her face and right hand from the Nether infection. She typically wears a plain dark red hoodie and black pants. She has bright cyan eyes, which were clouded while she was infected, but are bright and clear again now that she's been cured. Her design is kind of plain but I think her story makes up for it <3
art is one my partner did of her !!!! credit it not me for that

Okay I don't really have the brainpower to go into a ton of detail about it right now, but I really wanna get people talking more about the genie references with Jamil.
Like, yes there's the whole Jafar parallel of seeking a genie of the lamp, which I think is very much a surface level conscious interest in the canon legends, the same way all the overblotters compare themselves and try to emulate one of the seven. But, the more significant parallel in my opinion is the way Jamil's skill, power, and unwilling servitude point to him actually being the genie in question.
Not the blue genie, I mean the red one that Jafar becomes. In the end of the first Aladdin movie, Jafar has his wish granted to become an all-powerful genie, and is subsequently trapped in a lamp and enslaved. He then spends the second movie manipulating the guy who became his master into acting on his behalf in a desperate attempt at freeing himself, and ultimately gets destroyed in the process. Jamil's blot phantom is a direct reference to Jafar's genie form, and so is everything else about Jamil and his circumstances with the Asims.
Like, it's mentioned several times that not only is he one of the most powerful mages in that school, but also that nobody can really tell exactly how powerful because he's never shown the full extent of it (y'know, like how Jafar's genie is insanely powerful, but can only act within the confines of other's commands, so that potential is never fully explored). Specifically, he's much more powerful and capable than Kalim, but can only really exercise those abilities on his master's behalf. Which brings me to the whole thing with Kalim always coming up with crazy over the top shit he wants, and impossible requests for Jamil to make that happen, which Jamil has no choice but to fulfill, and does so by being just, capable of shit to an unnatural extent.
So yeah, basically: Jafar's story ends with becoming an all-powerful genie, enslaved, and forced to manipulate his way to freedom, which he never gets to achieve and is destroyed in the process. -> Jamil, doomed by the narrative/twst-disney magic to parallel his story, is an excessively powerful mage trapped in servitude to people who use his abilities to fulfill their every whim, and is forced to manipulate whoever he can in an attempt at freedom which he fails to achieve and is almost destroyed in the attempt.
Anyway, thanks for coming to my ted talk. Jamil is the genie he's been seeking but it sucks for him just like it sucked for Jafar.

the delicious thing about the worst of evil is that it is tragic by nature. the people in this story are doomed from the beginning, so the very first cold open we see is just how doomed everyone and everything is going to be. the first episode is a warning. you get in the way of who gicheol loves and what he wants? he is going to slaughter you, he will be suspicious of everyone and everything he doesn’t love. but gicheol also sees how the men he emulates die in these circles, he killed one himself to take that place. anyone tries to mess with junmo? he is reckless enough to get in brawls with comparatively unimportant criminals and he happily defies orders from the higher ups to get by on his own. the first we see of him at work is in the middle of a field. that man is a force of nature. euijeong would rather fight her family than let anyone tell her what to do or who she is. she makes her own choices and if you are in her orbit, you may be lucky not to be collateral but that’s no given. she keeps parts of herself locked away and getting too close might just be the wrong thing to do instead of the right one.
everything about gicheol is red, the colour coding works overtime from the beginning. junmo is unafraid to get vicious and bloody, a scrappy fighter with savage tendencies to draw blood, yet he appears in a constant palette of blue. he gets stained by what gicheol portrays even before he knows him, but his roots are tangled with euijeong. euijong and his home is all earth-tones, grounded and inconspicuous. she is smart enough not to get her hands dirty, but she’ll hurt you for her sake, she’ll stain you but not herself. love exists between three people who know each other and don’t seem to know each other at all. the first time we meet them, junmo sees gicheol from across the room and gicheol sees him too, over a brawl in their own gang. euijeong is right behind them — you can’t tell if gicheol pulls her with him because he wants to or because she wants to. she lingers back to look at junmo no matter the violence. these three love each other. they don’t turn back around when they betray each other. none of them win because they won’t let anyone else win, nor will they let the others lose. the narrative has been doomed from the beginning.

I do think it would be interesting if Red ends up being the cursed team because we all thought it was a red herring. Like this is the most cursed team comp out of all the teams, over half the team hasn’t logged on in at least three months, almost nobody is good at pvp, and they’re the guys everybody was picking on because everybody saw they were the weakest team, and then because they were seen as the strongest team. But maybe that’s the point, maybe the Eye wants the eggs to ‘die’, so all the most competitive people are on the other teams. That way everyone targets Red, the weakest team, and the one with the most targets on it.
Everyone on Red is a target. Phil? He’s famous for living for a long time. Cellbit? Everybody knows he’s deceptively intelligent and clever. Jaiden and Baghera and Slime? Not the greatest at the game, easy kills. Foolish? A builder, but not someone known for pvp. Carre? The new guy likely to go off alone. Even now with Etoiles and Roier and Mouse, they’re all targets because Etoiles and Roier are tryhards and Mouse is an easy kill.
They’re literally doomed by the narrative.
A lot of people think Blue might be the cursed team because of those egg videos, but like. All three eggs have parents on Red Team, too. Phil has Chayanne, Cellbit (and now Roier) has Richarlyson, and Baghera has Dapper. Red’s egg statue had both Tallulah (the one who Chayanne ordered to be saved) and Dapper (the one who said to win no matter what) in it.
Maybe the red herring was actually the fact that Red Team is such a red herring. Sometimes the most obvious solution is the real one. The best mysteries are complex in their simplicity.
If Red is the cursed team, then it would make legitimate sense considering how bad off they’ve been this entire competition. And it would be really interesting for q!Bad and the rest of Blue Team, who have all been going to these extreme measures for the sake of saving the eggs, to find out at the end after winning that their actions killed the eggs in the end.

Kinji Uehara is the only priest character I respect so far in my limited media consumption. Like, seriously, I love him.
As for his redesign, he...barely changed. Ngl, I struggled on how to design him because unlike Teruya, who I barely changed due to my own bias to him as a character and thus his design, Kinji had the opposite effect where I didn't have any ideas on how to "improve" his design. Especially since Kinji would not be the type to wear anything that wouldn't be allowed in a religious setting nor would he be in casual clothing outside of that setting either. Man literally admits that he had zero friends while growing up because he had been focused on his studies as a priest and then the duties of a priest once he became one. (It didn't help that he was mostly surrounded by adults most of his life, too.) He takes his duties as a priest very seriously, to the point that he's pretty socially awkward outside of that setting, but that doesn't mean he has his moments of being a teenager that pushes the boundaries. I love, love, love that he participated in the gambling scene with the reason of "It's okay as long as it's confessed to," it's so funny but also shows that he's not judgmental or against having any kind of fun. He's just not used to being around people his age. Anyways, back to his design, I pretty much stuck to his priest outfit but I didn't want it to be one to one with his OG design, so I changed his suit jacket to a coat with those shoulder cloak thingies. After that, I stuck to his black and white color palette with a dash of red, yellow, and blue (his eyes), and it took me until now to realize he literally has the primary colors as part of his palette and is used in a way that improves his design rather than become distracting with each other by using them as minimal as possible. It helps him stand out without making his design too bland by making him completely black and white. And that's about it!
Kinji is so doomed by the narrative, I'm so sorry, my dude.
